New York-based garage rock purveyor Dmitry Wild has released his new single 'Rock-n-Roll Is My Business' with 'Son of a Gun' as the B-side track, along with its new video. Both tracks are full of spunk and swagger.

Produced by Dmitry Wild, 'Rock-n-Roll is My Business' was mixed and mastered by Will Hensley (Coldplay, Travis, Dream Theater, Ben Folds, Shakira, My Morning Jacket, The Wombats). The title track was recorded by Andy Cass at Sleeper Cave Records in Western Mass, MA and 'Son of a Gun' was recorded by Byron Frayne.

'Rock-n-Roll Is My Business' was inspired by an experience Dmitry Wild had at a business convention. When asked the question “What is your business?”, he understood he was at odds with the business people and other specialists attending the event, ultimately answering "Rock-n-Roll Is My Business'.

With a new saxophone arrangement and double speed chorus, this rendition of 'Rock-n-Roll Is My Business' differs remarkably from the original recorded long ago by the band Wizard Sex. Exuding confidence, he is accompanied by ever-present horns and funky, layered vocals while retaining the classic rock-n-roll figurehead framework.

As for the B-side, 'Son of a Gun' is a rock track that is full of swagger, the bright, eclectic music video reflecting the song's alluring "world is my oyster' mood.

Most recently, Dmitry Wild released the single 'New York Stones', a rock ballad dedicated to New York City, in July, following up his 2002 album 'Electric Souls', which presented a clever blend of 70’s vintage rock, 80s synths, garage rock, bluesy swash and post-punk DIY ethos.

'Rock N Roll is My Business' is out now, available at all fine online music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where Wild's catalogue can also be enjoyed.

Levi Hummon Annouces "Another Shot Tour" Kicking Off Dec 13

Known for his high-energy songs and live performances, Red Van Records singer-songwriter Levi Hummon announces his headlining Another Shot Tour. The 15-city tour will kick off in Nashville, TN on Dec 13 at the legendary Exit/In, which has hosted some of the biggest names in rock, country and alternative music for more than 50 years.
 
“I can’t wait to get back on the road. I have built a really special team over the last year and lots of new fans across socials,” said Hummon. “I’m so excited to play some of the new music we’ve been working on and the brand new version of 'Paying For It.'”
 
When the tour wraps in Knoxville, TN on Feb 3, Hummon and his Another Shot Tour will have played some of the most storied and intimate music rooms across the country, like the Hi-Fi in Indianapolis, IN; Manchester Music Hall, in Lexington, KY; and Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta to name a few. 
 
Last week, Hummon released a studio version of “Paying For It” with Walker Hayes, his debut song for Red Van Records. Originally recorded and released in 2021, Hummon has been playing the song since that time while on the road, and it has become a fan favorite and viral hit. Since its release last week the song has been featured on numerous playlists as well as Entertainment Tonight and CMT.

ABOUT MINISTRY

Born in 1981 in Chicago, Ministry has been the lifetime passion project of founder Al Jourgensen, considered to be the pioneer of industrial music. In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all-time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. Eight more albums would follow before an indefinite break in 2013, only to be unearthed again in 2018 with AmeriKKKant, continuing to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. The 2021 album Moral Hygiene marked a new creative era of Jourgensen and the band. Ministry’s 16th studio album, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES, will be released in early 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.

About FUMING MOUTH:

A fiery, resurrected rage barrels its way out of hell’s erupting chasms with blistering fury; Fuming Mouth has returned. Lead singer, guitarist, and founder Mark Whelan emerges triumphant after a life-threatening battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, rekindling the inferno of their music with Fuming Mouth's second full-length album, Last Day of Sun.

What initially began as a full-on, fictional concept album underwent a profound transformation into a concept-reality hybrid, largely influenced by Whelan's harrowing conflict with his health and anear brush with death. Just three weeks away from recording the album, Whelan was struck with a devastating cancer diagnosis. While bravely fighting the illness, he rewrote melodies, drum sections, and lyrics, infusing the music with his personal journey of struggle and hope.

The recording sessions began in October 2022, with Grammy Award winning Kurt Ballou of Converge at his studio, God City, in Salem, Massachusetts. Ballou reached out to Whelan after his battle with cancer and encouraged him to get back to their previously scheduled recording session. Working closely with Ballou in both engineering and production, the band found a wonderful and collaborative experience, as Ballou invested himself wholeheartedly in shaping their sound and vision. Salem itself also helped shape the album, as the Halloween Season had begun. Droves of tourists and residents mixing with people in costume made the streets of Salem seem like Last Day of Sun had come to life. The city where the Witch Trials took place presented the perfect setting for the album to be recorded.

At the genesis of this record, there was no other artist that could have captured the album's essence better than Mariusz Lewandowski, with whom the band had already established a creative relationship through his work on the cover art of The Grand Descent. Tragically, Mariusz passed away while working on the album artwork, presenting the band with an immense obstacle to overcome. In tribute to his spirit and legacy, they joined forces with the talented artist Stefan Todorovic who crafted an evocative album cover depicting a Faustian city crumbling amidst the gray and sandy storms of the apocalypse. A colossal monster blocks the sun and hovers above the city as it burns, smoky buildings topple to the ground; all a visual representation of the chaos and darkness that permeates the album.

Fuming Mouth stands resilient, a testament to the indomitable human spirit. Amidst the carnage and depression lies a flicker of hope - a beacon of light that emanates from within. But as the last rays of the sun cast their shadow, the question remains. Will the people in Last Day of Sun survive? Will their worst inhibitions play out, will they rip each other to shreds, will they give up? Will everything they’ve built have been for not? Will they find a way to overcome, or will their panic lead to failure?

SUFFOCATION took about a month and a half to record Hymns from the Apocrypha. They holed up at Hobbs and Boyer's InLine Studio in Long Island. The duo engineered and co-produced with Christian Donaldson (BENEATH THE MASSACRE, INGESTED), who was also re-enlisted to mix and master, with Dominic Grimard (CRYPTOPSY, SHADOW OF INTENT) assisting. With stunning cover art by Greek illustrator Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design (VOMITORY, THE CROWN), Hymns from the Apocrypha is characteristically SUFFOCATION. It's uncompromisingly brutal, artistically gutsy, and aurally heavy. Clearly, SUFFOCATION, as they head into their 35th Anniversary, are at the peak of their potential. Death metal or die!

Until I Wake have been steadily bubbling under in the hard rock world for the past few years. SKELETAL REMAINS Kicks Off North American Tour

American death metal purveyors SKELETAL REMAINS will be embarking on an extensive North American tour in support of Suffocation and Incantation, with additional support coming from Stabbing. The band will bookend the tour with additional headlining dates as well, which kicks off tomorrow, November 2, in Grand Junction, CO. San Francisco-based artist E.G. Phillips presents his 'Outlaw The Dead' EP, released via Ducks With Pants Records. Produced by Chris McGrew, this EP was mixed with the assistance of Billboard-charting producer Jaimeson Durr (Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Hope Sandoval).

Hailing from Chicago, Phillips ultimately found greener grass in the Bay Area. His musical journeys grew more adventurous since relocating at the turn of the century, especially since venturing out on the open mic scene in San Francisco -- finding a musical home of sorts at Bazaar Cafe.  

With the steadfast backing of his band Ducks With Pants, Phillips blends lyric-driven compositions with his own special blend of whimsy and cinematic imagery, offering a wry take in dealing with the longings of the heart and the madness of existence.  

This EP was recorded in Studio C of Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco (AKA Wally’s HydeOut) at the former Wally Heider Studios — the same space where such legendary artists as Herbie Hancock, Santana, Grateful Dead, Green Day and Dead Kennedys recorded some of their most legendary releases.

Phillips recently released the Nick Cave / Tom Waits-esque single 'Boil The Ocean', following the sultry jazz offering ‘I Am The One Who Ghosts’ featuring Spanish vocalist Mar Vilaseca, the jazzy confessional lead track 'It Ain't Good to Be in Love With You' and 'A Bridge Too Far (MacArthur Station)' featuring San Francisco vocalist Grace Renaud.

"After working with producer Chris McGrew and keyboardist-arranger Kevin Sealat Hyde Street Studios for my previous album 'Alien for an Alternate Earth', I wanted to work with them again and started coming up with a list of songs that could work together. The original list was much longer and the working title was 'A Gazetteer of Depression'. So from the get go, it was going to be darker material," says E.G. Phillips.

"With songs like 'Outlaw the Dead' and 'I am the One Who Ghosts' bookending the set, you might think issues of mortality were at the top of mind, but is really a cocktail of loneliness, despair and a lack of self-worth mixed with the failed and toxic relationships we must navigate in this cynical and dehumanizing age in which we live."

As of November 2, the 'Outlaw The Dead' EP is available across fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. Phillips plays his release show that night at The Utah Saloon in San Francisco.

Shadows Fall, who were at the forefront of the New Wave of American Metal scene that dominated the '00s, will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of The War Within by playing a show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, the site of MANY classic Shads shows! It also marks the first time the band has performed in the Garden State in a decade. Welcome Back!

"20 years… cannot believe it will 20 years since Shadows Fall dropped The War Within on the world, "says frontman Brian Fair. NYC indie surf rock instrumental artist Guitarmy of One presents his new video 'Soylent Seafoam Green', filmed in Paris, Whitby, UK and New York State. This is the latest offering from his new spy-themed album ‘The Wave Files’, influenced by surf guitar, punk and metal. This adventurous 10-track album, crowdfunded earlier this year via Kickstarter, is a driving fun mix of dark ominous riffs, guitar swells and foreboding reverb-drenched melodies.

Guitarmy of One is the solo project of guitarist Scott Helland, an ex-hardcore punk bass player turned instrumental songwriter, whose first band (Deep Wound) was formed with alt-rock trailblazers J Mascis and Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr). He later joined hardcore/ crossover thrash stalwarts Outpatients, School of Violence and Darkside NYC before ultimately forming post-punk duo Frenchy and the Punk in 2005.

Soylent Seafoam Green' was inspired by the 1973 sci-fi dystopian cult thriller 'Soylent Green', which takes place in the future in New York, which is dealing with the effects of overpopulation, depleted resources and dying oceans. In the film, a mysterious food source is being given to people and the detective wants to find out what it actually is.

"I continue with my own campy spy and detective role in this new video. The song mixes dark ominous guitar riffing with surf guitar swells and foreboding reverb drenched melodies. It’s surf rock with a gothic edge," says Scott Helland.  

"The videos are a totally DIY series, where I film and edit these shorts to bring the visual element to my surf spy rock instrumentals. It completes the 'movie in your head' aspect of the music. As a kid, I wanted to be an actor before discovering music and following that path. Now I get to do both!"

This video follows the latest one for 'Kolchak Meets The Sea Mobster', which was inspired by the 70s thriller detective show 'Kolchak the Night Stalker', and ‘Top Secret Agent Man on a Wire Tapped Phone at Sea’, the first taste of 'The Wave Files' LP.

The album involves coded intrigue, each song blatantly and not so blatantly containing the word ‘sea’ in the lyrics. This record's concept is rooted in spy and detective shows from the 60s, 70s and 80s - like the sonic equivalent of those shows, riding the waves of intrigue and espionage. For instance 'Hawaii 5-0' inspired 'Jack Lord of the Sea' and the tv show 'The Saint' spawned 'Seance for the Saint'. Even real life mobsters like Legs Diamond inspired the song 'Sea Legs Diamond'.

Following his 'The Spy Detective Collective’ LP, this album combines the thrilling sounds of spy-themed instrumental surf guitar music with punk vitality. Guitarmy of One creates a sonic adventure to the realms of intrigue, danger and surf-soaked excitement with Helland channeling that raw and unconventional spirit into a quirky fusion of genres.

"I wanted this album to be music you want to travel with - in your mind or physically. It’s action music, and I think it should ignite your imagination and take you on a journey. Wordless music relies on the visuals it creates so if it can take you on a sonic adventure across continents, or at least counties, my work is done," says Scott Helland.

Guitarmy of One conjures up images of secret agents, high-speed chases, and hidden agendas through his intricate layered compositions. His mix of surf guitar techniques (i.e. reverb-drenched chords, lightning-fast tremolo picking, and tremolo bar vibrato albeit with a Bigsby bridge pedal) creates a sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Dalton Dover Plots Headlining 'Never Giving Up On That Tour' for 2024

After honing his live show with festival dates and supporting acts such as Luke Combs, Tyler Hubbard, Sam Hunt, Parker McCollum, Justin Moore and Chase Rice, Dalton Dover is gearing up to embark on his first headlining club tour with his Never Giving Up On That Tour, kicking off Feb. 9 in Birmingham, Ala., and featuring dates across the southeast into the spring. Reformed Michigan Hard Rock favorites TAPROOT have released the video for their new single “Favourite Song”, ft. Elias Soriano of Nonpoint, the first official single from their 7th studio album SC\SSRS, in stores now from THC MUSIC/Seven Arts Entertainment/Amplified Distribution.

Directed by Thom Hazaert and edited by Ewar Acosta and Yando Coy, the video, filmed partially on location at BUFFALO BILL’S HOUSE in Perryopolis, PA, the actual filming site from the iconic film Silence of The Lambs is the first to feature the band’s new lineup featuring original members Stephen Roberts, bassist Phil Lipscomb, and original returning drummer Jarrod Montague, with new guitarist Taylor Richards. TAPROOT also recently released Best of Besides, a 17-track collection of remastered demos and rarities, mastered by Richard Easterling (Tantric, Zen From Mars) that hit stores and digital May 5th.

Taproot formed in 1997 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and went on to sign to Atlantic Records, releasing their Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Pantera, Mindless Self Indulgence) produced debut album GIFT in 2000, followed by extensive touring including appearances on Ozzfest 2000 and 2001, and tours with Deftones, Incubus, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed, and Linkin Park.

The band's sophomore release Welcome, their first pairing with legendary producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica, Korn, Primus) which Rolling Stonecalled, “a self-preserving transition from new metal to art metal”, went on to sell over 500,000 copies and spawn the hit Rock singles “Poem”, which peaked at #5 on the Mainstream Rock charts, and “Mine”, helping propel Welcome to over 50 million digital streams. The band would continue heavy touring with Alien Ant Farm, Chevelle, joining Disturbed on the Music As A Weapon Tour, and Linkin Park. Vocalist Stephen Richards would also appear on the track “P5hng Me A*wy” on Linkin Park’s 2002 remix album REANIMATION.

2005 saw the release of Blue-Sky Research, also helmed by Wright, the band’s final release for Atlantic, which spawned the hit radio single “Calling”, co-written with FARvocalist Jonah Matranga, and saw the band collaborate with Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Nick Hexum (311), and Stephen Carpenter (Deftones), with heavy touring again, with the likes of Chevelle, Staind, P.O.D., and Flyleaf.

Taproot released several more full-length studio albums, including 2008’s Our Long Road Home (Velvet Hammer), 2010’s Plead The Fifth (Victory),with the single “Fractured (Everything I Said was True” reaching the top 20 on the Active Rock Chart, and 2012’s The Episodes, while continuing to tour consistently through 2013, when the band went on an indefinite hiatus, returning only to play a sporadic handful of local Michigan shows, before reforming officially this year.

The heavy metal 'n' roll, dark, madcap visionaries collectively known as AVATAR — vocalist Johannes Eckerström, guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström, bassist Henrik Sandelin, and drummer John Alfredsson — are releasing a creepy cool collector's vinyl version of their latest album Dance Devil Dance, out now.

Only 250 numbered and hand-crafted copies of the blood-filled "Afterbirth" vinyl will be produced. 

The packaging will include an additional standard red opaque vinyl; a 2-pocket silver board gatefold vinyl with platinum Dance Devil Dance vinyl; 24-page photo book; and an autographed 5x7 post card.

The vinyl will be exclusive for purchase to Avatar Country Citizens starting , October 31, at 12PM ET. Any remaining piecers be available for purchase for everyone on the band's website starting on Friday, November 3.

2023 has been quite a year for Avatar They achieved their first #1 single "The Dirt I'm Buried In." The track has surged itself to #1 on Mediabase's Active Rock Chart. On Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart, the single rises to #1 on its 31st week, making it the longest trek to #1 in 20 years! Read more about it over at Billboard. Avatar were also immortalized as a fossil from Southern Sweden; discovered by Dr. Ben Thuy, a​​ paleontologist at the Luxembourg Natural History Museum. This fossil is now known as Ophiocoma avatar. Trailblazing American soul-influenced shoegazers The Veldt present their new single 'Angel Heart', previewing their 'Illuminated 1989' album, the original 1989 Robin Guthrie- produced recording of what was supposed to be their debut full-length record (before their label Capitol Records shelved these recordings).

In 1988, 'Angel Heart' was written for the original 'Marigolds' album sessions and when the band was originally sent back to the drawing table to record the 'Marigolds' album that was ultimately released, it was not included in the tracks recorded with Lincoln Fong in 1993.

Among first-wave shoegaze bands formed in the 1980s, North Carolina's The Veldt surrounds identical twins Daniel Chavis (vocals, guitar) and Danny Chavis (guitar), whose music is equally influenced by Cocteau Twins, Marvin Gaye, Sun Ra and Pharaoh Sanders. Referencing post-punk while embracing modern hip-hop, these trailblazers work with transient dreamscapes as fluidly as solid song structures.

Danny Chavis interprets 'Angel Heart' as follows: "The stellar sound you get when you see the universe expanding. When you feel hopelessness and melancholy and, of course, alone, there's always a meandering feeling of something that lifts you up and brings you down. We feel it as we get older, but were not alone. This is that sound."

This is the album's third single, following the lead track 'The Everlasting Gobstopper' and 'Aurora Borealis', where Elizabeth Fraser makes a cameo appearance on backing vocals. Complementing this is the B-side remix, created by The Veldt around the turn of the century.

Pitchfork included The Veldt's album 'Afrodisiac', produced by the legendary Ray Shulman (The Sundays, Bjork, The Sugarcubes) and released via Mercury Records, in the top 50 shoegaze albums ever released, while Stereogum included ‘Until You’re Forever’ in the top 31 shoegaze tracks. Their sound also inspired future generations of alternative artists, including TV On the Radio.

The brothers got their musical start via the church and southern juke-joints, under the influence of gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. The Veldt initially signed with Mammoth Records before a chain of major-label relationships that saw the group tour the USA and Europe with Throwing Muses, Pixies, Cocteau Twins and Jesus & Mary Chain.

After moving from Raleigh to New York, they briefly performed as Apollo Heightsbefore reclaiming their original name The Veldt. Joined by Japanese bassist-programmer Hayato Nakao, they produce a heady and sensual blend of shoegaze and progressive soul. Some of the band's recent notable releases include 'The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur' EP (2017) and 'Entropy is the Mainline to God' LP (2022).
 
Having collaborated with TV On The Radio, Mos Def, Lady Miss Kier (Deee-Lite), A.R.Kane over the years, The Veldt has also toured / played with Violent Femmes, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pixies, Throwing Muses, Echo & The Bunnymen, Cocteau Twins, Manic Street Preachers, Phantogram, Modern English, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Oasis, Chuck D, Living Colour and Schooly D.

'Angel Heart' is out across music platforms, such as Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. On November 24, the 'Illuminated 1989' album will be released on vinyl, CD, cassette and digitally via Portland-based Little Cloud Records and 5BC Records. The Veldt is currently touring - from October through December, they're hitting many cities, performing at Levitation Festival (with The Dandy Warhols and The Black Angels) and at Seattle's KEXP.

Inferno Metal Festival is pleased to now reveal the full lineup for its 2024 edition, which will take place from March 28-31, 2024 across several venues in Oslo (NO).

The iconic festival has revealed a mixture of classic bands as well as some vital and exciting new-comers, including newly added performances from Taake, Orbit Culture, Madder Mortem, Shaving the Werewolf, Blodkvalt and Selvforakt.

HORRENDOUS Announce Record Release Shows

Horrendous didn't just drop what's arguably the best album of their career. They made one of the best death metal albums in recent memory, according to Metal Sucks.

'Ontological Mysterium' is a labyrinth. The deeper in you go, the more this album twists and churns, luring you toward some monstrous final battle. The riffs on the title track slice like the blades of an Apache helicopter, while the battle cry that opens "Cult of Shaad'oah" will make you feel like you're about to carve up a volcano full of giant, flaming snake warriors. 

"Somehow these guys can take Iron Maiden, mesh it with '90s prog-influenced death metal masters like Atheist, dispense with traditional metal song structures and create something that you've never heard before", writes Metal Injection.

“Surprises always come up during writing — spontaneous ideas pull you into new territory and enable the realization of novel possibilities that previously were inaccessible.”

Such are the words from Horrendous drummer Jamie Knox when discussing the creation of the band’s fifth full-length, the highly anticipated 'Ontological Mysterium'. Knox’s quote also encapsulates Horrendous’s approach to extreme metal. Since 2009, the band has capably tapped into the inaccessible by providing a fresh, unconventional take on death metal that harnesses technical brilliance with elaborate, mind-melding melodies, frothy, spewing vocals and labyrinthine song structures. This combination has made each Horrendous long play a clinic in the gratifyingly unorthodox. The trend continues on Ontological Mysterium.

The follow-up to 2018’s Idol was recorded, mixed and mastered at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in Virginia, which doubles as the homestead of guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring. While the band (completed by guitarist/vocalist Matt Knox and bassist Alex Kulick) finished much of the songwriting for Ontological Mysterium in 2019, its recording was delayed by the 2020 global pandemic and various life events. Horrendous eventually finished recording in early 2022 and mastered the album before the start of 2023.

The album upholds Horrendous’s position as one of the underground’s best outside-of-the-box extreme metal bands. Having long abandoned concern whether people would appreciate their “uniqueness,” Horrendous has embraced its role as a band willing to veer far from death metal conventions, intentionally stretching and breaking norms. To wit, the band primarily views its music as filtered through a death metal lens. This may be Horrendous’s defining trait: By not accepting parameters, nothing is off-limits.
