ENTER SHIKARI Share New Single "Bloodshot" & Announce Special Matinee Show

Enter Shikari are today sharing "Bloodshot", the third single to be taken from their highly-anticipated forthcoming album A Kiss For The Whole World, which will be released on 21st April via SO Recordings / Ambush Reality. Listen to "Bloodshot" below.

"Bloodshot" follows recent singles "(pls) set me on fire" and "It Hurts", both of which were instantly embraced with open arms by fans old and new, and received their first live outings during the band’s sensational run of sold-out February residency shows in the UK. For Enter Shikari, rejuvenation, resilience and resurrection have been on the agenda as they introduce new music to the world. However, in the arrival of "Bloodshot" the band have more questions to pose themselves, and us.

Lead vocalist and producer Rou Reynolds explains:

“Every day, I seem to be asking myself “Is this article biased?”, “is this claim true?”, “Should I be more furious about this issue? Or less furious?”, “Am I being manipulated? Provoked? Radicalised by my own ‘tribe’?.

"Bloodshot" is about how hard it is to find truth, and how easy it is to stop thinking for yourself and simply repeat your ‘team’s’ mantras.

Everyone’s so fucking angry with everyone else and it’s exhausting. It seems like social media’s main purpose these days is to hypnotise us to hate."

Pre-order A Kiss For The Whole World here. Limited formats of the new album come packaged with the Live From Alexandra Palace 3 album & DVD, recorded live in December 2021 at the band’s sold out 10,000 capacity London show.

Enter Shikari have also announced an intimate all ages matinee show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA on April 30th, to accompany their sold out run of very special album release shows across UK, Europe and the US. Alongside their matinee show, the band will be hitting Los Angeles (5/03), Chicago (5/5) and New York (5/10) for their special US run.

More about Enter Shikari and new album A Kiss For The Whole World

As the calendar now signals three years since Enter Shikari last released an album - their UK #2 charting album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible – it is useful to think back to the final question the band last posed fans: “Is this a new beginning? / Or are we close to the end?” Little could they know just how close to the end things would end up feeling as the events of the early ‘20s dimmed the light in the furnace of their live juggernaut, and connection to their fans. “At the time it felt like we ourselves, as musicians, were experiencing the death of our band,” says lead vocalist and keyboardist Rou Reynolds.

Unsurprisingly, the key in the band’s ignition came in the form of a live show as they headlined the Download Festival Pilot in front of 10,000 fans. Where not a single new word flowed from the pen of Reynolds in the two years prior, a realisation was born that would come to define the band’s seventh LP: “I just didn’t realise that the human and physical connection to other people were so central to how I write,” he says. Enter Shikari isn’t just four people – it’s hundreds of thousands.

The album's lead single "(pls) set me on fire" sparked the next stage in the band’s evolution, and the first words we hear from Enter Shikari 2.0 don’t come in the form of a question this time, but a command: “Please set me on fire”. In other words, ignite the spark inside us and set us free. This may be a new Enter Shikari but they’ve lost nothing in their flair for bold opening gambits.

Reynolds comments on the single’s conception: "Honestly, I thought I was f*****. I’ve never felt so detached from my soul, my purpose, my f****** spirit. I didn’t write music for almost two years. The longest I’d gone before that was two weeks. I was broken. It’s almost as if my brain had asked: “What is the point in music if it cannot be shared? What is the point in writing music if it’s not to be experienced with others?” and then promptly switched itself off. ‘(pls) set me on fire’ grew out of that desperation. This song is a projectile vomit of positive energy. Every emotion trapped inside me for two years, finally set free."

It was in the Spring of 2022 that the band descended to the coastal town of Chichester, and a delipidated farmhouse, to rebuild their studio setup and capture their renewed momentum on record. Using only solar power to track the album – in what Reynolds says was to “bring back some sense of naivety” – the life-giving properties and Technicolor palate of A Kiss For The Whole World were made real. Reynolds continues: “Back to basics. This band - my best friends - bundled into an old farmhouse, miles away from anywhere. Off-grid, and ready to rediscover ourselves. This album is powered by the sun, the most powerful object in our solar system. And I think you can tell. It’s a collection of songs that represent an explosive reconnection with what Enter Shikari is. The beginning of our second act”.

Hailing from Chicago’s renowned Wax Trax! Records stable of artists, MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT have been conjuring up sonic tales of sex, blasphemy and kitschy horror since 1987. The band helped develop the industrial music genre, yet have continued to expand their style, creating one of the most diverse repertoires in modern music. Electronic rock, heavily influenced by both disco and funk can best describe their sound, while spoken-word samples lifted from B-movies gives the band their signature mark. They have released 14 studio albums, a slew of remix compilations, and have contributed to a variety of soundtracks and film scores, including a cameo performance in the 1994 cult movie classic The Crow.

Artist Franke Nardiello and musician Marston Daley, two Chicago neighbors who enjoyed late night binges watching trashy exploitation films and horror flicks, wanted to make their own movie to be called “My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult”. While the project never came to fruition, they wrote some music to be the accompanying soundtrack. Both worked at the Wax Trax record store, and when label founders Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher heard the songs, they were intrigued. Using the film title as the name of the band, they released a 3-song EP in early 1988. The response was overwhelming, and it was clear fans wanted to hear more.

Taking the stage names Groovie Mann (Nardiello) and Buzz McCoy (Daley), the duo began to focus on music full time. They created an occult meets leather biker image to compliment the band’s name which included enlisting a bevy of voluptuous back-up singers / dancers known as the BOMB GANG GIRLZ. In June of ’88, they flew to label mate Luc Van Acker’s studio in Belgium to record their first album, I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits. It was recorded in just ten days, and mixed in another ten days at Southern Studiosin London. The fans ate it up! They followed up with two hard-hitting dance floor 12” tracks - Kooler Than Jesus (1989) and Cuz It’s Hot (1990), which features no-wave chanteuse Lydia Lunch on vocals. The New York Times wrote, “Sex, blasphemy, big beats and go-go dancing; they’re all in a day’s work for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult”. This attracted the attention of indie fans, as well as the ire of the PMRC and conservative religious groups in practically equal measure. By the time of their sophomore release, Confessions Of A Knife (1990), they were far and away one of the biggest selling acts on the label.

1991 saw the release of their third album, Sexplosion!, a calculated sonic and visual departure from their previous work. 1950’s pin-up models replaced the demonic imagery, while sleazy stripper horns, disco beats and house diva vocals (provided by artist Shawn Christopher) took prominence over the more abrasive musical elaments. They put together a provocative stage show, complete with spinning police lights, mirror balls and a stocked bar with bartender to serve the scantily clad musicians and dancers while they performed. Alternative Press reviewed the show as “Sin-sational!”, while Melody Maker described it as “A Cabaret from Hell”. It was a huge success, and the album sold so well (fueled by the phenomenal radio hit “Sex On Wheelz”) that the group signed a deal with Interscope Records shortly afterwards and released two more albums - 13 Above the Night (1993), and Hit & Run Holiday (1995).

Hollywood also embraced the KULT, recognizing the unique cinematic aspect in their sound. Most notably, the band scored five songs for animator Ralph Bakshi’s Cool World (1992) and wrote the lap dance song for director Paul Verhoven's saucy Showgirls (1993). Comedies BASEketball and The Flintstones Movie prominently feature songs from the Hit & Run Holidayalbum. They have been roasted by MTV’s Beavis & Butthead, and were written into the story line of the film Sexy Evil Genius which also features the song "A Daisy Chain 4 Satan”. Most recently the club hit “Kooler Than Jesus” can be heard blasting in Season 3 of the Netflix series Narcos.

The band moved to Rykodisc in 1997 and re-released their entire remastered / repackaged catalog, along with five more studio albums, including an homage to 70’s disco era called Gay Black & Married, and the sultry and decadent Filthiest Show In Town (2007). They also formed their own label, SleazeBox Records, in 2001, enabling the release of a growing number of side-projects in addition to new TKK material.

Today SLEAZEBOX.com boasts the complete THRILL KILL KULT catalog, in addition to related works such as Mann’s DARLING KANDIE, and McCoy’s self titled projects. They continue to work with Wax Trax! Records for the purpose of re-issuing special limited edition vinyl. Buzz and Groovie still record and perform live along with veteran band mates Mimi Star (bass) and Justin Thyme (drums), all the while making a reputation for themselves as one of the most notorious and controversial cult bands of their generation.

"This record is a collection of personal experience, history and a touch of my own imagination. I enjoyed approaching each song in a different way this time around. It was certainly challenging at times to find the right mood but when the work was finally complete it seemed to come together very well. I’m thrilled to see how our fans respond!"

Speaking on his inspiration for writing today's new single, Veil Of Maya's incendiary guitarist and songwriter, Marc Okubo adds

“I got convinced to go to a Rufus Du Sol concert. I was immediately inspired though. The next day, I was like, ’Let’s combine some of this with our style’. That explains the electronic opening.”

ABOUT VEIL OF MAYA

By channeling energy in one direction, force grows exponentially. Veil of Maya harness the individual experiences and talents of four distinct musicians—Marc Okubo [guitar], Sam Applebaum [drums], Danny Hauser [bass], and Lukas Magyar [vocals]—into airtight groove-laden metal accented by fits of instrumental virtuosity and vocal catharsis. This approach has endeared them to a devout fan base with critical acclaim and over 100 million total streams and counting (unprecedented for an outfit this crushingly heavy). The Chicago band draw on the strength of their union on their seventh full-length offering, [m]other [Sumerian Records].

Veil of Maya have consistently pushed the boundaries of heavy music by pushing themselves collectively. 2015’s Matriarchmade major waves, crashing the Billboard US Hard Rock Albums Chart at #2 powered by “Aeris,” “LeeLoo,” and “Mikasa.” The latter has gathered over 25.4 million Spotify streams and counting. In 2017, 'False Idol' saw the band return to the Top 3 of the Hard Rock Albums Chart as “Overthrow” and “Doublespeak” each eclipsed 8 million-plus Spotify streams apiece. The record also incited the applause of LoudWire, Substream Magazine, Metal Hammer, and Invisible Oranges who raved, “False Idol is undeniably Veil of Maya: greatly contrasting the band’s past, it serves as a companion and booster for their older work.Simultaneously, they toured alongside Animals As Leaders, Upon A Burning Body, Chelsea Grin, Oceans Ate Alaska, and more. In the midst of the Pandemic, they dropped “Outsider,” “Viscera,” and “Outrun.”

The Chicago band now draw on the strength of their union on their seventh full-length offering, [m]other [Sumerian Records]. In short, this is Veil of Maya at their collective best. Speaking on his hopes for his band's upcoming opus, guitarist, Marc Okuboshares

“I hope you’re inspired to listen to this again and again. Maybe you’ll hone in on the little details as you go further, and it will musically become a cinematic experience.”

Three Sets of Rehearsals Underway for Kenny Chesney's I GO BACK 2023 Tour

KENNY CHESNEY GETS READY TO GO BACK 2023

With Kick-Off Weeks Away, Rehearsals Are in Full Swing All Over Nashville

It’s All Happening March 23 at Charlottesville, Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena

With tech rehearsals in one place, video elements coming together in another, Kenny Chesney and his band have set up camp on the banks of the Cumberland River. After one of 2022’s biggest tours in any genre – having the fifth biggest tour after Bad Bunny, Elton John, Def Leppard / Mötley Crüe and Harry Styles – the songwriter/superstar from East Tennessee decided to take his music to the fans who exist beyond the major stadium markets.

Dubbed the I Go Back Tour, named for his No. 1 that embodied the way songs can transport you to times and places that hold the greatest memories, the man the Wall Street Journal deemed “The King of the Road” wanted to make sure every person who loved this music and found their life in his songs had the opportunity to experience the incredible live experience that made 2022 one rocking summer.

“After the time in limbo because of the unknowns,” Chesney says, “I think we’d almost forgotten how passionate and intense No Shoes Nation can be! But from the moment the play-on music started at Raymond James Stadium, it hit every single member of my road family in the heart: the power of these songs and what happens when we play these songs for people.”

Having played to 1.3 million fans on his HERE AND NOW 2022 Tour, including breaking his personal best at many of the 21 NFL stadium plays, this summer, it was one for the books. The only country artist to make Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Past 25 Years for the last 14, Chesney decided the band was too good to not take them out to some of the markets he played when he was becoming the high energy entertainer he is today.

“My band found a whole new gear last summer,” Chesney explains. “As somebody who lives to play music, to feel that energy from No Shoes Nation and see what it does to all of us on that stage, I wanted everyone who’s loved this music to have a chance to experience what we were getting all summer, every single show. I remember that same vibe when this whole thing started taking off: people using chain-cutters to get onto the lawn in the Carolina amphitheaters ‘cause we were so sold out... switchboards crashing in Atlanta... the crazy night we had...

“All those songs that time-stamped people’s lives, I want to make sure those people and those songs don’t get lost. It’s why we named this the I Go Back 2023 Tour. To me, to be able to share this band that’s so white hot – even our rehearsals have inspired all of us almost like the shows – with the fans who were there when this was turning into something great, that makes me even more fired up to get out there.”

With close to 30 songs on the list – and a few surprises that will be coming in and out depending on this night, I Go Back 2023 is going to be a night of great fun, incredible music and plenty of new memories made. Raised in Knoxville, Chesney knows the power of bringing music to the fans – and recognizes the bond live shows create among friends of all ages.

I Go Back 2023, with special guest Kelsea Ballerini, is presented by Blue Chair Bay® Rum.

ABOUT FALLING IN REVERSE:
Platinum-selling rock band Falling In Reverse, lead by outspoken and charismatic singer Ronnie Radke, have been completely dominating the radio and streaming space in this new decade. The band, which formed back in 2008 and built itself as a mainstay of the Warped Tour scene while gracing many Alternative Press covers, has seen its latest single "Zombified" hit No. 1 Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs Chart. The band has also been generating nearly 50 million total streams per month. Falling In Reverse's previous chart-topping single "Popular Monster" earned platinum RIAA status. The track is truly a juggernaut and is a watershed moment for the band. "Popular Monster" has been streamed nearly half-a-billion times and has emerged as one of the biggest anthems of the past several years. It enjoyed a multi-week stint at No. 1 on the rock radio charts, landing in the top spot on the Mediabase Active Rock Chart, Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Chart, and the Nielsen Rock Chart, and marked the first No.1 single of the band's career. It followed the gold certification of the band's 2011-released debut album The Drug in Me Is Youand a sold-out anniversary tour. During the shutdown that was a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Radke quickly established himself as one of the most popular musicians streaming on the Twitch platform. In Winter 2022, the band returned to the road and embarked on the sold-out "Live From the Unknown" tour, further cementing its status as one of the top live draws in the genre. Falling In Reverse have continued to catch the eye of the press, with their career arc being spotlighted by top-tier, tastemaking publications such as Forbes, Billboard, New York Times, Pitchfork, and beyond.

Kicking off April 3 in Austin, Texas, and in partnership with DTour, the trek includes 15 independent venues across the country celebrating the stories behind the songs.

“I wanted to bring my fans into the room with me to where these songs began. Feelings. Stories. One voice and one instrument. Songs in their purest form,” says the Critics’ Choice Award winner. “Sharing these wonderfully intimate rooms with people allows me to connect and be more vulnerable than I have been able to be in years. Hopefully this experience will mean as much to my fans as I know it’s going to mean to me.”

Fender’s ‘Next Artist’ Alex Hall joins Smith as direct tour support. General on sale begins this Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. local time. For tickets and more information visit CaitlynSmith.com.

DTOUR is a network of independent venues and promoters offering national artists locally owned, unique venue experiences across multiple markets. The partnership follows a history of supporting independent venues for Smith. In 2021 she released a video depicting the emotional and tumultuous journey of an independent venue owner facing closure. Smith, along with GRAMMY-nominated Old Dominion, partnered on the music video for her powerful song, “I Can’t,” to not only chronicle the desperate conditions many beloved live music venues faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but to encourage viewers to support the National Independent Venue Association by visiting togetherwecan.caitlynsmith.com to donate to NIVA’s Emergency Relief Fund.

The Pollstar “Hotstar” headlined her High & Low Tour in 2022. Prior to that headlining run across the U.S. and UK, she spent the last year opening for George Strait, Reba, Little Big Town and Old Dominion where she played stadiums and arenas across the U.S. In March 2022, she made her debut appearance at C2C: Country to Country and left Lyric Magazine declaring she “was THE artist of the festival.”

Last year, Smith released High, the first half of a record that the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter self-produced. April 14 she will release the completion of that project, adding six new songs to make her full record, High & Low, due April 14. The additional tracks balance 2022’s critically-acclaimed High, celebrated by NPR as “her most fully realized project yet,” with High & Low capturing the full picture of who Smith is as an artist and as a creator – where embracing the yin and yang simply makes you more human.

About Alex Hall
Originally from Gainesville, Georgia, country singer and guitar player Alex Hall is the epitome of what it means to be an artist. After picking up an acoustic guitar at the age of 14, he quickly set to work learning every Elvis Presley song on the King’s ELV1S: 30 No. 1 Hits album – his raw talent earning him his first singing gig at a local restaurant when he was still in middle school. While singing weeknights at the restaurant and preforming local shows, Alex captured the attention of a Nashville booking agent, which resulted in about 125 shows a year throughout high school…a feat for any artist, let alone someone still receiving a report card…and a valuable introduction into the country music community. After moving to Nashville and signing with Monument Records, he released his debut EP, Six Strings – a guitar centered project that featured Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, John Osborne, Brad Tursi, Tenille Townes and Kassi Ashton. Alex has opened for Tanya Tucker on her While I’m Living tour, Brandy Clark on her Who You Thought I Was tour and has played dates with Little Big Town on their Nightfall tour. New music from Alex’s debut studio album will begin rolling out in April, with the full album expected in late August of this year. RAS-1 Pays Tribute To His Late Father With New Track "Take Me Home"

Pioneer of the SoCal reggae-rock scene and founding member of Long Beach Dub All Stars, RAS-1, has released his brand new lyric video for the track "Take Me Home" today. The song and video are an emotionally stirring tribute to his late father, Richard Smith. Find "Take Me Home" on streaming platforms HERE and watch the video below.

Speaking on today's release, RAS-1 shares

“I wanted this video to pay respect and love for my dad. I didn’t want it to be your average lyric video. My dad was a very charming, funny man and an excellent father. RIP Richard Smith.”

"Take Me Home" features on RAS-1's upcoming self-titled EP due out on Fat Wreck label imprint, Bottles To The Ground on May 19th. Produced and co-written by Fat Mike of NOFX, the track also appeared on the recent 'Bottle Music For Broken People' label compilation alongside new music from Fishbone, Codefendants, Melvinator, The Meffs, The Skints and more (listen here). RAS-1 also gave an intimate live performance of the track as part of the 'Campfire At Fatty's' release on Fat Mike's Fat Mic YouTube channel. Watch HERE.

ABOUT RAS-1

RAS-1 (Richard Arthur Smith) is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and visual artist. RAS-1 was an original member of LONG BEACH DUB ALL STARS, the band co-founded in 1996 by SUBLIME’S bassist and drummer, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, after the untimely passing of Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell.

RAS-1 became a principal member of the collective on both guitar and lead vocals, while penning many of the LBDA classics including his signature first single “Trailer RAS” and the hit “SUNNY HOURS” featuring WILL.I.AM of the multi-platinum hip-hop superstars BLACK EYED PEAS. These tracks, in addition to other fan favorites including “Rolled Up” and “Rosarito” from the LB DUB albums 'Right Back' (1998) and 'Wonders of the World' (2001), were released as one of the first artists and earliest album collections on David Geffen’s newly formed Dreamworks label.

Born and raised in North Town Long Beach to musical parents, RAS‘s mother, Dora Gail Smith sang for the all-girl Long Beach Jazz Quintet, DREAM. His father, Richard Smith was also known to play guitar while supporting his family working for the Union Pacific Railroad. RAS-1 began his musical career as a teenager in a band THE GRIFFIN with his songwriting cousin, J-Sun, who currently plays with STONEWING. JAH CHILDREN was RAS-1’s next original band, often playing on the same bill as SUBLIME at Long Beach backyard parties and punk rock clubs. A membership in local thrashers ALL DAY followed featuring PENNYWISE alumni Randy Bradbury and cohort Paul McFadden. RAS-1 additionally sang and played lead and rhythm guitar in SHORTBUS, a side project with SUBLIME’S bassist Eric Wilson, guitarist Trey Pangborn of FALLING IDOLS.

For 2 decades RAS-1 has maintained his own style while collaborating with legends along the way and is respected in the California reggae-jam scene as an architect of both the style and sound stemming from Southern California’s vibrant musical subculture.

RAS-1’s visual art is highly stylized Southern California cool. RAS-1 finds ZEN through the medium of paint and is often commissioned for custom work with various well-known brands and entities to design skateboards and other essential gear.

NOW, RAS-1 returns as a SOLO ARTIST with a full band. After RAS-1 father’s passing, and with deepening health issues of his own, RAS-1 began a profound journey of self-discovery culminating in the poignant and honest requiem “Take me Home”.

A brand new album is in the works with the finishing touches being applied to an EP of new material including “Not Sorry At All” and “California Radio,” which were recently debuted during his high profile comeback slot on the inaugural CaliVibes Festival (Feb 2022). RAS-1’s unique songwriting and gritty authenticity brings it back to that original roughneck Long Beach reggae sound with an eye and ear towards the future.

RAS-1 is back, and his soul and his sound are healthier than ever!

As a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, Dalton Dover continues to reach new career milestones with the debut of his first single via UMG Nashville/ Mercury Records, as “Giving Up On That” is the most added song at Country radio with 60 first week stations, along with fans streaming the song and garnering over 1 million streams in the first two weeks of its release.

“To have this much support on my first official single is such an incredible feeling,” shares Dover. “Thank you to my team for believing in me and this song and thank you to Country radio for your excitement and enthusiasm. This is definitely a week I’ll never forget!”

Written by Dover with Adam Craig and Josh Pierce, “Giving Up On That” showcases Dover’s sharp vocals as he pleads with a long-gone lover, recounting his previous screw-ups and outlining the steps he’s taken to prove his loyalty and his desire to try again, as Country Now lauds “Dalton Dover is off to a roaring start in 2023,” with The Boot praising, “this heartbreak track has all the makings of a country radio hit,” while MusicRow boasts, “This power ballad of regret and yearning gives him a super showcase for his dynamic, whisper-to-a-scream vocal ability. A solid winner. Make this man a star.”

This week, Dover prepares to make his international debut at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour in April. This summer, the Georgia native will perform at the 50th Anniversary of CMA Fest at Nissan Stadium’s Platform Stage and Chevy Vibes Stage. Dover honed his captivating live show last year with two performances at CMA Fest, opening for Luke Comb’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium show in Atlanta, Ga. and joining Priscilla Block’s Welcome To The Block Party Tour.

After being named a Spotify 2022 Artist to Watch, he released “Hear About A Girl,” earning praise from Billboardnoting, “Dover’s voice is both intimate and commanding on this track,” while MusicRow asserts it confirms “we’re in the presence of a master country talent when this man sings…Make him a star. Now.” He followed the song with “Damn Good Life,” with The Boot sharing, “Dover is savoring every moment in his uplifting new single,” while Country Now observes, “Between the optimistic narrative that Dover delivers through his crisp vocals and the carefree tune highlighted by the impressive guitar strum, nothing but a good time can be had when this song comes through the speakers.”

In addition to a deal with UMG Nashville, Dover has signed with Sony Music Publishing in partnership with Droptine Music Publishing along with United Talent Agency.

About Dalton Dover
Lauded by MusicRow as a “master country talent,” Dalton Dover’s current single “Giving Up On That” via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records was the most-added track at Country Radio upon its debut with 60 first week adds and garnered over 1 million streams in the first two weeks of its release. Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, he will make his international debut in March at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour in April. Dover first started singing at church as a kid, winning his fifth-grade school talent show performing Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” In that moment Dover’s love of performing was born. By the age of 16 he had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R veteran and founder of Droptine, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover. His debut track “You Got a Small Town,” produced by McV, quickly garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, MusicRow, Country Now and Wide Open Country. With his debut and his follow-up “Baby I Am” earning notable playlisting, Dover was named a Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch along with a spotlight as Billboard’s February Country Rookie of the Month and a nod for MusicRow’s 2022 Discovery Artist of the Year. After opening for Luke Comb’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium show in Atlanta, Ga., Dover set out on a seven-date run of his own headlining shows, performing across multiple locations of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red, followed by Priscilla Block’s Welcome To The Block Party and his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. WATCH Discrepancies - Recovery (Official Music Video):

Discrepancies released their new single "Recovery," from their forthcoming EP Product Of Entertainment, on February 17th along with the official music video via InVogue Records. The single is already doing well on streaming platforms and radio. The band announced a handful of dates with Until I Wake and a tour this spring with Outline in Color and VRSTY in support.

"'Recovery' is kind of an extention of "Not Alone" in a way. Or maybe a more specific version. Not only letting the listener know they are not alone but also offering details of others walking through the same darkness and finding their way out," says the band's vocalist Antonio Metcalf.

Discrepancies, the Rap/Rock band out of St. Louis, have formed an undeniably powerful and innovative sound. Comprised of Garrett Weakley (Bass), Addison Bracher (Guitar/vocals), Brandon Bollinger (Guitar/vocals), Marc Lyle (Drums), and Antonio Metcalf (Vocals) they have formed a unique take on Rap/Rock incorporating heavy riffs with intense lyricism. The 5 blend together many genres to create an innovative soundscape that is guaranteed to grab your interest.

In January 2018, Discrepancies signed to InVogue Records. They released “The Awakening” in March of 2018 and had over a million streams in the first week. Discrepancies promoted their release of The Awakening through 2019, playing multiple runs and festivals such as: Rock USA 2019, select dates with Sevendust, Story of The Year, Metal In The Mountains, and more.

In January of 2020, the band released “Control" from their 2nd LP, The Rise. That track now has over 3 Million views and streams and continues to grow. The band released 4 more singles, riding the wave through the unfortunate 2020 global pandemic.

Together, Discrepancies want to connect with people on a deep level and allow for people to be inspired to form their own opinions free from judgement, from the lyrics of their music.

Tenille Townes & Bryan Adams Debut Official Music Video for "The Thing That Wrecks Me"

Just ten days after debuting their riveting duet “The Thing That Wrecks You,” Tenille Townes and Bryan Adams deliver the official music video, available everywhere now. Watch it below.

“The Thing That Wrecks You” arrived Feb. 24 with Billboard noting it “winningly teams Townes’ tender-yet-sturdy vocal with… Adams’ whispery rasp” and Music Row applauding it as “an essential listening experience.” The coinciding music video was directed by Adams and features the two running hastily toward each other through a dimly lit tunnel, knowing they’re bound to collide.

On the opportunity to team up with Adams for the project, which was born from a chance encounter in a stairway, Townes shares: “From a Fed-Ex letter to travelling across a loading dock in a music video, this whole adventure has been insane! Bryan Adams directed ‘The Thing That Wrecks You’ music video and it was amazing working with him in this experience.”

Just shy of four minutes, the driving track produced by Townes and her band’s guitarist, Jaxon Hargrove, was recorded with her touring band joining her in-studio as well as with Adams adding his own guitar prowess to the song alongside his vocals.

The song offers a preview at new music from Townes, whose most recent project, Masquerades, was released in April 2022 via Columbia Nashville/Sony Music Nashville in partnership with RCA Records. The project was named album of the Year at the 2022 CCMA Awards and is nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2023 JUNO Awards, where Townes will also perform.

The day after delighting and inviting fans to celebrate his new album with a one-night-only stripped-back album release celebration —resulting in fans flooding the streets of Nashville’s Lower Broadway, distributing all available tickets in just three hours — Morgan Wallen was all smiles last night as his new album, One Thing At A Time, premiered to record demand.

Fans from around the world joined as he shared a lot of stories with a lot of the new music being played for the first time to a crowd of 19,292 in-person attendees, a record setting all-time attendance for the arena according to EVP of Entertainment and Venues David Kells. With an underlying sense of gratitude from both the artist and fans, it was an “only in Nashville” kind of evening.

Ahead of the heartfelt “Keith Whitley” Wallen shared the singer’s impact on his own life and career. “Keith Whitley is one of my favorite artists of all time. I always felt he died too young and had a whole lot more magic left in him…this is one of my favorite songs on this record.”

Later in the 22-song set, Wallen dedicated “Dying Man” to his son: “In 'Dying Man,' I’m singing to a woman. In real life, this song is dedicated to my son. He has changed everything for me and has been a real blessing. He’s here tonight, so I’m sending this song out to him.”

Pausing and even crouching at the edge of the stage — oftentimes stepping over the monitors to get as close to the crowd as possible — made the unique-to-this-night 360 stage even more memorable.

Friday night’s free show arrives just days before Wallen launches his One Night At A Time World Tour, kicking off overseas on March 15.

With 63 shows and 30 stadium-plays ahead, his words could’ve been about the last few years or the last 36 hours since announcing the show: “I know how much my fans mean to me, but I just want to say it out loud. You guys are truly remarkable. Thank you for coming out for this free show on such short notice. I hope you're having as much fun as I am.”

 ABOUT MORGAN WALLEN
Hailed by Billboard for making “his superstar arrival as a touring artist” in 2022, Morgan Wallen recently wrapped his record-shattering 55-show Dangerous Tour with his first headlining stadium show at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, which saw him shatter attendance records previously held by Elton John and Lady Gaga. Now, the CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee who broke records in 30 venues across the country - with the only country tour nominated for Pollstar’s Major Tour of the Year - will embark on a massive world tour in 2023. Spanning 30 stadium shows across 4 countries and 2 continents, plus arenas, amphitheaters and festivals, Wallen’s 63-show 2023 One Night At A Time World Tour will deliver the man The New Yorker dubbed as “the most wanted man in country” to fans worldwide.

With over 13.6 billion on-demand streams and eight chart-toppers at Country radio, the East Tennessean’s latest hit to top the charts is “Thought You Should Know,” co-written with Nicolle Galyon and Miranda Lambert. Recent breakout hit “You Proof” became his fastest climbing single to-date, reaching No. 1 after just 14 weeks and remaining at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for a record-breaking ten non-consecutive weeks. On the heels of the unparalleled success of his 4x platinum, ACM Album of the Year, Dangerous: The Double Album (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic Records) – which topped 2021's all-genre Billboard 200 Albums year-end chart and notched historical chart status as Billboard’s longest running Top 10 album in history for a solo artist (with 108 total weeks spent in the Top 10, eclipsing Adele’s 21 and Bruce Springsteen’s Born In The USA), Wallen’s 36-song deeply personal third studio album, One Thing At A Time, is available now. The American Music Awards’ Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song (“Wasted On You”) winner continues to touch fans’ lives in ways few can; Pollstar noting “[he has] the ability to distill his life in a way that pulls others to him.” Thanks to those very fans, the superstar has raised nearly $3 million dollars for causes close to his heart with $3 from every U.S. ticket sold for each tour benefitting the Morgan Wallen Foundation.

The Intemperate Sons Release New Single "Way Back When" via FRAME|WORK

Indie rock band The Intemperate Sons released their new single "Way Back When"to all major platforms! The single is from their highly anticipated new album Game of Keep Away that will be released via FRAME|WORK in 2023. The band is in the early stages of planning a fall run of shows on the west coast.

"This is the second track of the yet to be released, Game of Keep Away, LP set for late 2023 called “Way Back When”. This track was a total collaboration between The Intemperate Sons and Amir Derakh (the Dark One). The intemperate Sons explore the world through the eyes of a jaded soul just trying to make sense of the chaos all around. The Intemperate Sons release all their music through Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck at Frame|Work and Denny Sanders at The Label Group. A brand new music video for the single will be released on 3/10/2023 to the usual platforms. The track was recorded at The Kitchen Recording Studios in Dallas, TX and mixed by Amir Derakh in Long Beach, CA. All mastering is done by Mike Marsh Mastering in the U.K.," says the band.

Formed in the summer of 2019 in Dallas, TX, The Intemperate Sons are an up-and-coming alternative rock band that are a cool concoction of hard rock mixed with folk and grunge. The band has earned a serious reputation of writing and performing tracks that scratch deep into the groove of the human experience. There is no shortage of darkness to their writing style. Their music has a total retro vibe with many guitar driven tracks stacked on top of a groovy rhythm section. Their heavier retro style sits perfectly under the two and three-part vocal harmonies that are a huge part of their sound. The Intemperate Sons are a family band with its members Keith Watson (drums), Jake Watson (guitars), and Max Watson (vocals, guitars, keys) all being related by blood. Mark Marks provides the groove at bass to tie it all together. It has been said that musicians that are related form unique sounds and communicate on a frequency only they can understand. This frequency has become engrained in their songwriting, arrangements, guitar melodies, and vocal harmonies. The band has been compared to Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and REM.

The Intemperate Sons are:

Max Watson (vocals, backing vocals, guitars, keys, bass)

Jake Watson (guitars, bass and backing vocals)

Keith Watson (drums, backing vocals)

Mark Marks (bass)

ABOUT THROUGH FIRE:

Hard rock should exist outside of the system. It should break the mold. It should burn through expectations. Through Fire most certainly does. The Omaha, NE quartet—Justin McCain [lead guitar & songwriter], Grant Joshua Kendrick [lead vocals], Tyler Halverson [bass], and Zack Halverson [drums]—fuses hard-hitting riffs, lyrics that truly resonate and contagious melodies that are unforgettable. As a result, this impactful, immediate, and infectious fusion defies categorization and incites energy as boundless as the style itself. Additionally, the approach transformed the quartet into a phenomenon with chart-topping radio successes and over 275 million streams worldwide.

Now, the same fire fuels the band’s third full-length for Sumerian Records. “This album takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions". We've all been through the fiery trials of life, this album aims to empower us all to get up out of the pit of despair and be victorious over our difficult circumstances. "Recording these songs was truly therapeutic, going in the studio to unleash every raw, honest feeling imaginable while enduring the heat of life's flames and heartache was powerful. This album brought us healing and we know from experience, we can all rise above whatever life throws our way.”

ABYSMAL DAWN Vocalist Joins Serj Tankian for Special Performance

Vocalist Charles Elliott of Abysmal Dawn will join System Of A Down lead vocalist Serj Tankian for a very special orchestral performance in Elliott's hometown of Los Angeles, CA on April 29! Tickets for the "Invocations" orchestral suite are now on sale HERE.

Elliott joins a diverse and prestigious group of musicians who were hand-selected by Tankian for this one-time event! Other collaborators include renowned tenor Brian Thorsett, world music singer Azam Ali, and sound healer Francesca Genco. Backing them will be the CSUN Symphony Orchestra, ethnic instrumentalists (including duduk master Jivan Gasparyan Jr.) and a full choir.

Regarding this special performance, Elliott says, "It's an honor to be performing as vocalist with such a legendary and diverse musician like Serj. I am truly humbled to have been asked to be a part of such a cool and unique project. I'm ready to provide something ugly to some extremely beautiful and captivating music. Now I hope to see some headbangers there, wearing their best penguin suits and monocles!"

Abysmal Dawn is supporting the release of its 2022 EP, 'Nightmare Frontier,' which is out now!

'Nightmare Frontier' is available to order at the Season of Mist E-Shop, Abysmal Dawn Bandcamp, and Abysmal Dawn Store. The single and EP can be streamed via your favorite streaming services HERE.

'Nightmare Frontier' follows up 2020's critically-acclaimed album, 'Phylogenesis.' The album was named one of the best albums of 2020 by Metal Injection, Metal Insider (#7), Teeth of the Divine, Cursed Zine, and more! In addition, drummer James Coppolino is listed as one of Sick Drummer Magazine's favorite drummers of 2020 and the band's song "Soul Sick Nation" was among Loudwire's "66 Best Metal Songs of 2020."

'Nightmare Frontier' was mixed and mastered by Charles Elliott at Tastemaker Audio. Drums were engineered by John Haddad at Trench Studios, while tracking for all instruments was handled by Elliott.

The artwork for 'Nightmare Frontier,' which was created by Par Olofson, can be found below along with the tracklist.

American death metal masters Abysmal Dawn are back! After a six-year gap, the Los Angeles-based outfit and Season of Mist hereby present Phylogenesis. Not that Abysmal Dawn have laid low since the release of 2014’s lauded Obsolescence full-length. Far from it. They toured North America four times and hit Europe and South America for the first time. Meanwhile, founding member Charles Elliott opened his studio, Tastemaker Audio, to accelerate Abysmal Dawn's own recording needs, as well to act as a bridge to other bands in need of a knowledgeable and relatable audio technician. But the road to Phylogenesis wasn’t an easy one. Besides work-horsing it throughout the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Chile, and beyond in support of Obsolescence, Elliott and crew managed through some of the lowest points in Abysmal Dawn’s career. Internal strife, administrative burdens, musical differences, and motivation all had their various ways with the Californians. Yet, from the darkest depths, they prevailed, heralding a new chapter in the group’s storied history. Indeed, Phylogenesis is Abysmal Dawn’s rebirth!

“There was a brief period after doing two months of touring back-to-back in the U.S. and Europe in 2015 that I almost felt like calling it quits,” Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott says. "It was our first time in Europe and I just had a hard time enjoying it. The band had grown, and I was a bit tired of having to handle most of the managerial aspects of what we do. The joy had been ripped from things and people weren't getting along, and some people acted like they didn't want to be there. But we went our separate ways with some of the members and all of a sudden, the band was fun again. They went on to other things and we're probably all happier in the end. Sometimes, I feel it's a miracle this album or band even still exists. I've avoided swearing on our records in the past, but the album's opening line is actually, 'Fuck you all!' Maybe it's primitive by our past lyrical standards but it's genuine and it's the most heartfelt, ‘Fuck you, we’re still here’ I could put on a record. I’m glad we stuck it out because I think this is our proudest moment so far.”

To say Phylogenesis is an extension or continuation of Obsolescence isn’t exactly as straightforward as it should be. On one hand, all the Abysmal Dawn trademarks—technicality, brutality, and melody—remain ingrained in the songwriting fabric. On the other, the band’s fifth full-length is more cohesive, rhythmically sophisticated, and far more adventurous. Elliott calls it “a major evolution.” Certainly, the six years of constant refinement, edge smoothing, and transition adjustments have paid off. What started as jam sessions between Elliott, bassist Eliseo Garcia, and drummer James Coppolino in 2016 eventually turned into one-offs. That there was no time limit to put Phylogenesis together ended up both a blessing and a curse. Total creative freedom at very little expense is a dream scenario, something a band of Abysmal Dawn’s stature took advantage of for their magnum opus. But without a ticking clock and dollars burning, the pressure to focus was far less severe, resulting in delays and feature creep.

“It was basically James, Eliseo and me meeting up at my place, jamming on ideas, seeing what worked and tweaking them from there,” says Elliott. “With the exception of ‘Hedonistic,’ James wrote all his drum parts. Obsolescence was demoed with me programming all the drums since our drummer at the time had moved up north. It was what it was, but it was pretty frustrating at the time. Having someone to bounce ideas off of in real-time, helped in maintaining the joy and momentum of making this album. Once it was time to record bass and leads, Eliseo and Vito [Petroni; guitars] would trickle in when they had ideas. We had no real deadline and seemingly infinite time to do things. Admittedly, I think it was hard for me to focus on the lyrics, not only because of things in my personal life but because I was focused on getting the guys in to complete their parts so I could focus.”

Finish Phylogenesis they did, in fact. Under significant duress, Abysmal Dawn had overcome their roadblocks. The results of the group’s undulating professional and personal schedules aren’t to be trifled with, however. Opening track “Mundane Existence” is a firestorm of labyrinthine yet savage riffs, enraged vocals, and machine-gun drumming. It’s death metal personified, enlightened, and perfected. Elsewhere, tracks such as “The Path of the Totalitarian,” “A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity,” and “Soul-Sick Nation” (feat. Fredrik Folkare of Unleashed, Firespawn, et al.) pose real threats to the status quo. In all three, Elliott’s passion for and dominance of death metal’s tenets are tangible. But there’s more to Abysmal Dawn on Phylogenesis than customary ritual. From the ruthless groove of “Hedonistic” and the staccato stabs of “Coerced Evolution” to the late album gem “The Lament Configuration” and the blistering cover of Death classic “Flattening of Emotion,” the songs are designed to slay in ways we’re just beginning to understand.

“We’re a pretty brutal death metal band, but what I feel like sets us apart is that no matter what we do there’s always some underlying sense of melody and hooks,” Elliott says. “There are lots of bands that are ridiculously brutal. There are lots of bands that are over-the-top technically or are blatantly melodic. We combine all that but we try to write something that sticks with you over time; that you'll keep coming back to, and that works well in the live environment. We love all types of music, whether it's fusion or industrial music, and it shines through here and there. But in the end, though, we're a pure death metal band at heart trying to retain that old-school feel with an updated take for a new generation.”

Conceptually, Phylogenesis deals with the breakdown of social constructs humans have built over time. The album title is defined by the evolution of (or diversification) a species. So, Phylogenesis is an ironic take on Elliott’s observations, particularly how social media has accelerated and exacerbated the de-evolution of humanity’s interactive abilities. The cover art, again by Swedish artist Pär Olofsson, isn’t directly correlated to the lyrical narrative, but it does continue where Obsolescence left off. The Olofsson cover art has envisioned what it’s like on the inside of the Obsolescence tower, and that it’s humans that are being fed back to humans. The cover art continuity is akin to Richard Fleischer’s famed Soylent Green film but ripped through Elliott’s demented death metal lens.

“I think the lyrics deal a lot with things we encounter in our modern society and the effect it has on the individual,” says Elliott. “The dehumanization effect and divisiveness caused by bickering on social media (‘The Path of the Totalitarian’), the decay of legitimate journalism (‘True to the Blind’), struggling to find purpose in the pursuit of happiness (‘Hedonistic’), wishing something was greater than yourself (‘Mundane Existence’), the mental illness epidemic (‘Soul-Sick Nation’), embracing pain over numbness to feel alive (‘The Lament Configuration’), having our consciousnesses uploaded to a grid in order to make life sustainable on Earth (‘Coerced Evolution’), and the common theme throughout the band of wishing life on Earth would just start over (‘A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity’). I had started off wanting it to be a concept record but later scrapped that idea because I didn't like how it was going. In the end though, it just naturally all tied together in some way. Even the Death cover seemed to fit lyrically in hindsight. ‘Coerced Evolution’ is really the only song that in the sci-fi vein this time around. As for Pär, yes, he did the cover art once again. We love working with him and we’ve been creating great covers with him since 2006.”

Abysmal Dawn recorded Phylogenesis over a multi-year timeframe. In fact, Coppolino’s drums were tracked as far back as 2017 with long-time collaborator John Haddad at Trench Studios. The rhythm guitars and vocals, as produced by Mike Bear and Elliott, were also done at Tastemaker Audio the same year. So, some of Phylogenesis goes back, but the parts are no less lethal. Slowly but surely, the group’s newest and greatest materialized, with Elliott finishing the lead guitars, bass, additional vocals, re-amping, and mixing sessions in 2019, again at Tastemaker Audio. Abysmal Dawn then packaged up their fifth for mastering ace Tony Lindgren (Rotting Christ) to handle at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Contemporary yet absolutely remorseless, Abysmal Dawn’s Phylogenesis is death metal for a new age.

“We took our time and went to few studios this time around, so it’s a bit of a laundry list,” Elliott says. “John Haddad engineered the drums at Trench Studios. John has been involved with all our records in some form since From Ashes. Mike Bear helped track and produce the vast majority of my vocals and rhythm guitars out of my studio. Mike produced both Leveling the Plane of Existence (2010) and Obsolescence. I tracked and produced all the leads, bass parts, and other odds and ends and mixed the album as well. Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios mastered the record in the end.”

As for Abysmal Dawn’s next steps, the quartet await the release of Phylogenesis. With past support coming from the Village Voice, Decibel, PopMatters, and Pandora, as well as the group's rabidly-devoted fanbase, the future of death metal is in good hands.

About Brantley Gilbert
With back-to-back Platinum albums and a grassroots following millions strong, Brantley Gilbert’s music has been shared, covered and adopted as the soundtrack to Saturday night and Sunday morning by audiences around the world. The Georgia native who started as the defiant life-of-the-party can still go ‘til sunrise, but he’s also emerged as something far greater: the leader of a massive tribe of hard-working, fun-loving believers for whom electric guitar-shredding, rapping, and twang can go hand-in-hand-in-hand. They call themselves the BG Nation, and when the BG Nation watches Gilbert on a stage, they don’t just see a star. They see themselves. Seven No. 1 hits punctuate his career: RIAA 6x Platinum-certified “Bottoms Up,” 2x Platinum “Country Must Be Country Wide,” 2x Platinum “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do,” 2x Platinum “One Hell of An Amen,” Platinum-certified collaboration with Lindsay Ell “What Happens In A Small Town,” and two chart-toppers as a songwriter with CMA Song of the Year nominee “Dirt Road Anthem” and “My Kinda Party.” Gilbert’s landmark record Just As I Am clinched the 2014 American Music Award for Favorite Country Album. Earning praise from the New York Times, NPR, American Songwriter, and more, Gilbert has mined a rich vein of conflict between the party and the pew on all of his albums. Instead of toiling in limbo, unable to enjoy good times for fear of Judgment Day, Gilbert fully lives––rowdy friend, man of faith, devoted husband, smitten new father––just as he is. So Help Me God (Deluxe Edition) is set for release April 21 via The Valory Music Co. and features chart-climbing single “Heaven By Then” with Blake Shelton featuring Vince Gill. Gilbert will join Nickelback this summer for the Get Rollin’ Tour, featuring 35+ dates across North America. NE OBLIVISCARIS Shares New Live Video for "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope"

Progressive metal outfit NE OBLIVISCARIS is now sharing a brand new live video for its seminal song, "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope," which was recorded in Melbourne (AU) on May 10, 2019 at 170 Russell. The clip is taken from an upcoming 'Live in Melbourne' Blu-Ray performance that will only be available via the special collector's edition of 'Exul!' The video can be seen below.

Limited to just 2,000 copies, the special item also contains 'Exul' on CD, a 16-page booklet, and a unique media book with a mount-it-yourself acrylic box, figurine and logo!

The band comments, "This live performance video features audio that is almost completely unedited. It's brilliantly imperfect. A genuine and an authentic representation of what our shows are like. This concert Blu-Ray is a great example of how deeply we care about our music and the connection between ourselves and the audience. It's six people that have worked for years (decades even) at their craft coming together to bring our music to life for audiences across the world and we are so excited to get back to doing that in 2023. We hope you enjoy this taste of NeO's Live in Melbourne Blu-Ray. See you all on the EXUL world tour (EU/UK this May and USA/CAN Oct/Nov + more TBA) for our own moment to share together!"

'Exul' is due March 24, 2023! The band's stunning video for the new song "Graal" can be found HERE.

Pre-orders for 'Exul' can be found HERE while the album can be pre-saved on streaming services HERE.

NE OBLIVISCARIS also recently announced a European/UK tour, which will take place from May 5-June 3, 2023! For all upcoming live dates and tickets, visit the band's website HERE.

Drum tracking for Exul, the fourth long-player from Australian extreme progressive metallers NE OBLIVISCARIS, started in March 2020. There is an ominous tone to that date: March 2020. The pandemic demarcation line. That month, Daniel Presland laid down his drums in Nashville, Tennessee, with American producer Mark Lewis. As flight cancellations increased and borders shuttered, Presland made it home literally hours before Australia closed theirs. Lewis, guitarist Benjamin Baret and bassist Martino Garattoni weren’t as lucky. They were due to land in Australia in the days that followed to continue tracking, but were forced to remain overeseas indefinitely. With recording studios shuttered throughout Melbourne, a slow, tedious, life-altering two-year grind to complete Exul ensued for NE OBLIVISCARIS

What should have been the continued upward swing after 2017’s critically acclaimed Urn turned into the most fraught moment of NE OBLIVISCARIS’s career. Clean vocalist and violinist Tim Charles says the period “came close to breaking us completely.” It was a time filled with death, relationships breaking down, despair and financial loss. Presland, NE OBLIVISCARIS’s drummer since 2005, amicably parted ways in early 2022, throwing yet another wrench into the band’s plans.

There are, however, happy accidents scattered throughout the creation of Exul. The extra, unexpected downtime allowed the band to fine-tune and even re-write parts previously set in stone before the pandemic. Charles’s violin solo at the end of “Graal” is a prime example: His original idea wasn’t fully realized until he revisited the song in early 2021 and promptly came up with a new part. It was a classic “a-ha” moment that improved the song.

“Getting an opportunity to have a song mostly done for a year or so and then go back to it, find what you loved about it the first time and maybe even improve it in some ways was a nice silver lining from all the delays,” says Charles. “I think because we had so many delays that were out of our control, we were even more determined to take our time to make sure when the time came to record and to mix, that we ensured it was the absolute best it could be in every way.”

Seven additional studios and three more countries later, Exul was finally mixed and mastered in July 2022.

The album personifies NE OBLIVISCARIS’s distinctive, boundary-pushing ethos. The band’s trademark blend of emotion and beauty is as towering as ever, if not even more compelling, particularly how Charles’s violin lines carefully weave their way around Baret and fellow guitarist Matt Klavins’ riffing. The duality of Charles’s clean vocals and Xenoyr’s growls remains the narrative anchor, elevating songs that emanate sophistication and are a masterclass in composition.

“Our approach is always the same,” says Charles, “which is essentially to just write and see what comes out. Exul definitely had its challenges during the songwriting process. Part of the beauty of how our music comes together is that we are quite different individuals bringing an array of ideas together. From there, we work out how to combine them into something that is seamless and beautiful to us. We were determined to make this our best and most complete album yet, which definitely resulted in it taking longer. But we are so proud of this album and it’s exciting to finally share it with the world.”

The album’s centerpiece is the two-part “Misericorde I – As the Flesh Fails” and “Misericorde – Anatomy of Quiescence.” (A NE OBLIVISCARIS album is not complete without a multi-part epic!) According to Charles, Part II began by taking a song they thought was finished (Pt I) and asking, “What if after that…?” The band then wrote a section that took the piece in a new direction and what was a 7 minute song, became an almost 17 minute 2 part epic.

“The bulk of Part I was written more so by Benji and Martino,” notes Charles. “You can hear the very guitar-driven approach present throughout that track. Part II, by contrast, was written more so by myself in collaboration with others and the emphasis changes more towards expansive solos and slow-developing sections that build towards the epic finale. These two tracks are a great example of how it’s the combination of our different strengths as songwriters spread across an album that results in the sound that is 'NE OBLIVISCARIS'.”

Charles’s violin parts, whether on “Misericorde II,” “Equus” or “Suspyre,” exude confidence. The instrument has always been central to the band’s sound. On Exul, Charles’s violin playing is taken to another level. “I think that over the years, in regards to how my violin interacts within NeO’s music, I’ve simply continued to add more strings to my bow, so to speak,” he says. “With ‘Exul,’ I definitely explored even further the use of layers of violin and viola parts to create a more textured feel compared to other albums. ‘Mesericorde II’ was definitely a bit of a breakthrough song for me, where I felt I could utilize the strings in a way that hadn’t been done in NeO’s music before. In the end, whatever serves the song best is always the aim and having more ways of creating music makes it easier to serve the song.”

The Exul album title came to Xen when he was summing up the album’s feeling musically and lyrically. Coincidentally, it matched the experience of most people during the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “I think everyone at some point has felt at odds with the world around them, felt alone, cast out, or misunderstood,” says Xen. “Exul felt right to use in a broader sense and as a lone word, for we each have our own history and a story of exile.

“Overall, there’s a darker core to this album, perhaps more ominous than previous releases,” he continues. “However abstract the lyrics are, they involve some form of unwanted departure — all journeys into torment, passion, longing and even despair. They touch on the process of physical and psychological destruction that comes from that sense or reality of being exiled, whether forced from one’s land, ostracised from a community, shunned by a religion, or even simply being treated differently for being who they are.”

Touring will factor heavily into NE OBLIVISCARIS’s 2023 plans. The band will embark on headlining tours worldwide that will hit new territories. As luck would have it, the return to live show activity will coincide with the release of Exul and the band’s 20th anniversary. As one of Australia’s leading extreme metal exports, there is a distinct sense of gratitude from Charles and his bandmates. They’re looking forward to sharing it with fans when they resume touring.

“Simply getting the opportunity to perform music that we’ve written on stages around the world to people that genuinely love and connect with it,” finishes Charles when talking about NE OBLIVISCARIS’s 20-year journey. “There is something incredibly special about the energy that exists between an artist and audience at a concert and it’s an honor to get the opportunity to spend 2023 connecting with people in that way once more.”

ENSLAVED: New Album, "Heimdal," Is Out Now!

We are of the waters carrying the countless names
above, below, absorbed and besung
We are of the Eternal Sea, crossing to wander in shadows

Today, Enslaved are proud to release their latest avant-garde creation, Heimdal. Their breathtaking 16th studio album is both a departure and a communion with roots forged over three decades ago in the turbulent birth throes of Norway’s black metal scene. It's a record that points towards new beginnings, and a dawn that’s on the other side of the apex of the land. Prepare for a psychedelic journey through arcane Norse folklore, to connect with one's ancient ancestors and our future selves.

Enslaved's Grutle Kjellson commented,
“After more than three decades, I still get excited when I hear Ivar’s demos; we may be older now, and as life has evolved are unable to spend as much time on music as we would like, but the song writing process for Enslaved hasn’t changed much. Ivar works on the seeds and shapes of songs, sends them to the rest of us, and we’ll form our own narratives - these phantom sketches eventually come to life and they speak to us, and hopefully they speak to our fans as well.

In my opinion, our band is even more creative, more experimental, more diverse and somehow more  musical than when we started. I suppose one of the main reasons we continue as a band is that we have never reached a place where we bore ourselves. Our passion for telling stories, writing riffs, put words to them and exploring the human condition through music and myth, has only increased over the years and Heimdal is a reflection of who we are as artists, musicians and human beings in the year 2023.”

Enslaved have also revealed a masterly lyric video, created by Ingo Spörl, for album focus track 'The Eternal Sea'.

Heimdal was produced by Enslaved's own Ivar Bjørnson, Iver Sandøy and Grutle Kjellson. Mixing was handled by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and the final treatment was mastered by Tony Lindgren. The concept and lyrics for Heimdal was, as always, developed by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson in tandem.

The album was recorded primarily at Solslottet Studios in Bergen, which is owned by Iver SandøySolslottet is a satellite of the well-known Duper Studios, where the drums were recorded and engineered by Iver himself, with assistance from Vegard Lemme. The main guitars, bass, pianos, organs, and vocals were also recorded at SolslottetArve 'Ice Dale' Isdal recorded his guitar leads at his own Earshot & Conclave Studios. The final touches and a few experimental ideas were added at the Overlook Hotel using Solslottet’s mobile studio rig. All music for Heimdal was written and demoed at Ivar Bjørnson’s own Crow’s Nest studio.

The record features psychedelic track 'Caravans To The Outer Worlds' from last year's EP of the same name. Album bonus versions contain an extra track, 'Gangandi', alongside a Blu-Ray copy of 2021's stunning Otherworldly Big Band Experience streamed event the band's boldest project to date, featuring fellow Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. The kaleidoscopic stage show features a stellar setlist, covering Enslaved's career, both past and present.

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene's indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.

Enslaved in 2023 are a band in stellar form - a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Their most recent material shows Enslaved at their most unleashed and thought-through - a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. A contradiction? Life itself is a contradiction. And yet we all live to prove it wrong.

Enslaved are:
Ivar Bjørnson | guitars
Grutle Kjellson | vocals
Arve 'Ice Dale' Isdal | guitar
Håkon Vinje | keyboards, clean vocals
Iver Sandøy | drums

SILVERTUNG RETURNS AFTER TWO-YEAR HIATUS WITH NEW SINGLE, “INTEGRITY”

Mid-Atlantic rock band Silvertung is back! Following a two-year hiatus of uncertainty, they were left with the most important decision of their music career...shut down or face the adversity they've been dealt.

"Giving up was NOT an option," asserts lead vocalist, Speed Vincent. After experiencing the world-changing effects of the pandemic, he reformed Silvertung with all new members and a reinvented sound.

Injecting new styles and ideas, Silvertung is setting their own pace and rules within the quartet’s musicianship. Their newest single “INTEGRITY” is an unrelenting sonic message with intense, hard-hitting beats, aggressive guitar riffs and confident, demanding statements like “Hope you see the light, before the light becomes your enemy.” Unified with infectious melodies, fierce screaming vocals, and harmonies, firing up a massive, uplifting chorus. Mastering the elusive balance between surprising new elements, without deviating from the empowering motivation the band is known for.

"INTEGRITY" reveals the fortitude to fight through and stand on your own after dominating the fears of emotional and physical abuse, and the anger of being used.
