Green Carnation Premiere A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis

Had Green Carnation never returned from hiatus, the Norwegian prog bards would always be remembered for completing one of metal’s most ambitious individual epics. However, there was one tale - or three, to be exact - that eluded them for more than three decades, until last year. Now, after reaching crushing new highs on Part I of their forthcoming album trilogy, the band are descending into the deepest, darkest and most personal depths of their storied career with A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis.

A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis comes out tomorrow, Friday, April 3 on Season of Mist, but you can hear all six heart-wrenching songs today by listening to the full album stream, which premieres on the Season of Mist YouTube channel at Noon Eastern Time.

During the premiere, the band will chat with fans about the latest installment in their forthcoming album trilogy, as well as what the future might bring on Part III.

A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis Full Album Stream Premiere Below.

“Sanguis invites listeners into our darkest inner rooms with some of the most raw and vulnerable songs that we’ve ever written”, Nordhus says.

“The lyrics are so personal that I had to go many rounds with myself over whether or not to tone them down”, says Sordal. “In the end, I chose to keep them as honest as possible”.

“Part II deal with personal loss and sadness”, shares Nordhus, though as he’s quick to explain, Sanguis isn’t all gloom and doom. “Those feelings can be almost comforting, like stories you hear about the calm that people experience before they die”. Indeed, if A Dark Poem contains a silver lining, it’s in the creative partnership that’s helped Green Carnation endure for more than three decades. “It would be different if I had only known Stein Roger for two months”, Nordhus continues in explaining how he gives voice to the words of his dear friend. “It’s easy for me to understand and relate to all of his struggles, all of his pleasures and joys, because I’ve been a part of them as well”.

Part II introduces more peaks and valleys into the overarching narrative of A Dark Poem, but nowhere does the album’s bleeding-heart core shine through more achingly than its closing ballad. Graced by Ingrid Ose’s soothing flute, “Lunar Tale” positively sparkles, even as it casts a rather grim beacon into the future. “The end justifies the means, you’ll see”, Nordhus sings with eerily quiet confidence. As the piano seeps beneath the moonlight, Sanguisleaves fans hanging in suspense over where this trilogy will end.

Heilung Release New Podcast Episode for “Traust”

On their new podcast, Heilung are inviting longtime converts and newcomers into their sacred realm, where history and spirit converge into a healing ritual. Hosted by founding member, singer and shamanic practitioner Kai Uwe Faust, The Podcast journeys into the lore, traditions and primal forces that shape the world-renowned Nordic collective and their unmistakable Amplified History.

Having uncovered the mythological roots and historical references behind “Alfadhirhaiti” and “Marduk” during the two previous episodes of The Podcast, today, Heilung are releasing a new episode that is dedicated to “Traust”. Now a staple in the collective’s celebrated live ritual, this song first appeared on their second album, Futha, which debuted in 2019 at #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and #4 on the Billboard World Music chart.

“This episode of the podcast offers an intense look at how belief, ritual and sound converge as Amplified History on ‘Traust’”, Faust says. “Through Merseburg charms and early ritual practice, I lead us into a realm of unbinding magic, where we reflect on sacrifice, transformation and the moments when human fear meets sacred necessity”.

The release of this episode coincides with the arrival of the Pink Moon, which brings spring and a time for rebirth.

Watch episode three of The Podcast Below:

Heilung are known around the world for transcending the boundaries of sound and history. Since forming in 2015, the Nordic collective have made their unmistakable presence felt everywhere from the Billboard charts to Glastonbury, The Game Awards and major Hollywood films. Their performance rituals draw crowds into an intimate, mystical space that threads together earth, fire and incense with throat singing, primordial rhythms, subtle electronic textures, a mesmerizing light show and instruments made from human bone.

Heilung’s full discography, including their latest release Lifa Iotungard, is available now on Season of Mist.

In 2025, Heilung embarked on headlining tours of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Along the way, they cast their spell over more of the world’s biggest stages, including Roskilde Festival, Download Festival and Glastonbury. But no matter where the future takes them, Heilung always begin their performance with a humbling reminder of where we all come from.

“Remember, we are all brothers. All people, beasts, tree and stone and wind, we all descend from the one great being that was always there, before people lived and named it, before the first seed sprouted.”

ROTTING CHRIST Reissue Sleep of the Angels

Season of Mist is reissuing Sleep of the Angels, the fifth full-length album by Greek legends Rotting Christ. Originally released in January 1999 on Century Media, the album will now be available on vinyl through the band’s current label home.

Sleep of the Angels represents the furthest point from Rotting Christ's black metal origins. It is a record defined by melodic weight, brooding atmosphere, and a gloomy romanticism that remains striking in its internal coherence. At its center is the interplay between the heavy guitar work of Sakis Tolis and a constant, gauzy keyboard presence that lends the whole record an almost ecclesiastical quality. The result is the most gothic album in the band's ever-evolving discography.

Season of Mist will reissue Sleep of the Angels on June 19, 2026

Formed in Athens in 1987, Rotting Christ are one of extreme metal's most enduring and restlessly shape-shifting forces. By the time Sleep of the Angels was recorded in September 1998, Rotting Christ had spent three consecutive albums methodically expanding from the rawness of their early catalogue toward atmosphere, melody and a dark romanticism. The album closed a trilogy begun with Triarchy of the Lost Lovers(1996) and continued through A Dead Poem (1997), before the band pivoted again toward heavier, more industrial-inflected territory on Khronos (2000).

Guest contributors to Sleep of the Angels include Waldemar Sorychta on lead guitar on "Victoriatus" and "You My Flesh," and vocalist Eddy Kante on the partially German language "Der Perfekte Traum."

ONLY HUMAN Premiere Inventive Debut Album Planned Obsolescence

ONLY HUMAN are already on the brink of a major discovery with their debut album. On Planned Obsolescence, the Danish upstarts invent an existential form of prog metal that speaks to our not-too-distant dystopia.

Planned Obsolescence comes out tomorrow, Friday, March 27 on Season of Mist, but you can hear all eight inventive songs today by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Listen Below:

“The album is supposed to wake people up to all the ways technocracy is encroaching on society”, Only Human vocalist Patrick Grønbæch Christensen says. “Tech companies often design their products to have an expiration date, so that we’re forced to replace them with the newest model. Through our social media and the adoption of influencer culture, we now live in a reality where humans are products to be consumed and disposed of”.

Pre-order & Pre-save

https://orcd.co/onlyhumanplannedobsolescence

Concept albums are standard issue for metal, especially in the prog space. But when the five members of Only Human first put their heads together in 2023, they decided to build the very human fabric of the band around one increasingly prescient idea.

“We like a lot of bands that just play rock music, but we wanted ONLY HUMAN to be about something”, Christensen says. “We’re interested in creating a musical universe that portrays a future on the brink of collapse”.

Planned Obsolescence reckons with technology’s increasingly hostile takeover. “Techno Fascist” comes crashing down amidst a turbulent downstream of low-tuned chugs. The intrusion of beats, blips and synthetic swirls into the heavy mainframe of “Breach” mirrors not only how technology has seeped into our everyday lives but also the looming threat that it poses in rendering humans obsolete.

While Planned Obsolescence is full of existential dread, that doesn’t mean the album leaves us no hope. There’s nothing broken or even outdated about Only Human. The band’s fusion of heavy polyrhythmic grooves, anthemic hard rock and haunting electronic soundscapes hits like a deep breath of fresh air. “Defy and learn to walk again”, commands blood-pumping lead single “Automata”.

“When the world is going badly, the reason is because people gave up”, Christensen concludes. “Things aren’t hopeless. We can absolutely fight back. Hopefully, this album gets people to think about valuing humanity over profit”.

On Planned Obsolescence, Only Human invent existential prog metal for our dystopian future.

Catch ONLY HUMAN live and in the flesh during their upcoming record release show, as well as at Sweden Rock Festival and Naestved Metalfest.

Unverkalt Release “Oath Ov Prometheus” Live Studio Performance

Over the past decade, Unverkalt have drawn closer and closer to the edge. On their new album, the post-metal luminaries pull the veil from our cursed existence in search for an answer to one pervasive questions: What do we carry that was never ours? In response, Héréditaire now stands as their heaviest and most heartfelt offering.

As they prepare to bring Héréditaire to the stage, today, Unverkalt are releasing a live studio performance of the song that sparked their freshly blackened vision. “Oath Ov Prometheus” sets fire to the myth of man’s creation with the band’s command of smoky atmosphere and suffocating doom.

“‘Oath Ov Prometheus” is one of the songs on our new album that we really love to perform”, Unverkalt vocalist Dimitra Kalavrezou says. “It was the first song we wrote for Héréditaire and our first with extreme vocals. We are very excited to bring it to the stage this year during our upcoming shows”.

Watch the live studio performance of “Oath Ov Promethues” Below:

Héréditaire is out now on Season of Mist.

Order & Stream

https://orcd.co/unverkalthereditaire

While Héréditaire is a pulse-pounding new direction for Unverkalt, the album’s arc traces back to our deepest and darkest origins. Amidst the tremolo-picked wreckage of “Penumbrian Lament”, long-held beliefs are swallowed into the void of guitarist Eli Mavrychev’s death growls. “It’s all sorts of dead ideas / They cling to us all the same”, Kalavrezou whispers, only to break into screams on “Introjects” beneath Joscha Hoyer’s throbbing bass line. “The concept behind the record is tied in with the album’s overall heaviness”, she says. “Each song peels back another blackened layer of memory, trauma and suffering, which linger over us like ghosts: invisible, yet endlessly present”.

Kalavrezou’s mystifying cleans remain one of Unverkalt’s defining traits. Even when trembling beneath the monolithic riff of “I, The Deceit”, her contempt for those who stand by as the world burns is heated when forged alongside her Athenian brother-in-arms Sakis Tolis from Rotting Christ. But as the album draws to a close, Héréditaire ends shadowed in doubt for the future. “Bathed in lies / Can we make it better” she wonders before disappearing into the shivering wake left by “Maladie de ‘Esprit”.

“This album is not meant to resolve”, the band says, “but to dissolve patterns from those who came before, faceless yet familiar. The colors have drained. What remains is veiled in black, not as a symbol, but as a truth that covers everything”.

On Héréditaire, Unverkalt lift the veil on our cursed existence with their heaviest and most heartfelt offering.

Defeated Sanity Release Pounding New Drum Playthrough for “Heredity Violated”

After crushing crowds with Sanguisugabogg, Despised Icon and Corpse Pile, next month, Defeated Sanity are hitting the road on their first U.S. headlining tour in support of their latest Billboard-demolishing album Chronicles of Lunacy. During this run across both U.S. coasts, the innovators of brutal death metal will perform Chronicles of Lunacy in its entirety, along with other fan favorites from their discography. Joining them on all 27 dates are Inferi and Organectomy.

As they gear up for the start of their U.S. tour next month,  today, Defeated Sanity are releasing a new drum playthrough. While the song brings Chronicles of Lunacy to a horrifying end, “Heredity Violated” further cements their place on the throne as the most technically advanced band in brutal death metal.

“This song was based on a Latin-type rhythm and fused with a brutal riff”, Defeated Sanity drummer Lille Gruber says. “It also has a cool dotted note verses even cymbal thing going on”.

Chronicles of Lunacy is out now on Season of Mist.

https://orcd.co/defeatedsanitythecroniclesoflunacy

The drum playthrough for “Heredity Violated” was created by Obscenery Films.

While it still hits from every odd angle, Chronicles of Lunacy does draw a jagged red line back to Defeated Sanity's brutal origins. After all, the band now share a label with their namesake. In true, DS fashion, the first song written for this album was "Heredity Violated", a headbanging grand finale that never stops chugging. "This album isn't as tough on the brain as the last two", says new guitarist Vaughn Stoffey, whose chunky riffs whip "Accelerating the Rot" into the fastest song in the band's canon. "It's rawer and more straightforward, which gets back to what fans love about Psalms of the Moribund".

To dig up the sheer brutality that long-time fans have come to crave, Defeated Sanity returned to Thousand Cave Studios. New York City's most vile underground hotspot also served as the excavation site for the Billboard-charting The Sanguinary Impetus, which shoveled a fresh layer of dirt over the "polished" production of Passages into Deformity. But the band encouraged producer Colin Marston to get down and dirty with Chronicles of Lunacy. "We still wanted some of the high fidelity that you hear on modern death metal records", Schmidt says, "but this album has the same crushing low-end as Psalms or Chapters of Repugnance".

The band execute this two-headed approach to monstrous effect on "Condemned to Vascular Famine". At just under six minutes, the song delivers the longest ass beating on Chronicles of Lunacy. At times, all four members sound like they're climbing up the walls in separate asylums, but after slipping in a brief nod to Bram Stoker's Dracula, the band come slamming down into the album's ugliest breakdown.

"That's one of our favorites", the band says. "It lands at a crossroad of the DS sound that we ended up with on Chronicles of Lunacy. Even though it gets pretty fucking weird at times, there's still an emphasis on heavy, straight-up slamming"

None of their albums are ever going to follow a straight line, but on Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity return to sheer brutality.

ROTTING CHRIST Announce Reissue of Der Perfekte Traum

ROTTING CHRIST, a pillar of Greek metal, are reissuing Der Perfekte Traum for the first time on Season of Mist. Long out-of-print, this EP captures the band at a pivotal crossroads in their career between the melodic darkness of 1997’s A Dead Poem and the atmospheric depth of 1999’s Sleep of the Angels.

Now reissued by the band’s longtime label home Season of Mist, the new vinyl edition of Der Perfekte Traum preserves an overlooked chapter of Rotting Christ’s legacy.

Season of Mist will reissue Der Perfekte Traum on May 15, 2026.

Via Doloris Premiere Debut Album Guerre et Paix

Via Doloris is rooted in an inward journey rather than orthodoxy. Conceived in solitude and shaped by discipline, composer and multi-instrumentalist Gildas Le Pape (ex-Satyricon) traces a melodic, atmospheric and introspective path through black metal’s foundations. On debut album Guerre et Paix, he’s joined by Frost, the legendary drummer of Satyricon and 1349, who provides a sense of persistence, grounded and unyielding.

Guerre et Paix comes out this Friday, March 20 on Season of Mist, but you can hear all seven piercing songs today by listening to the full album stream on Black Metal Promotion.

Listen to Guerre et Paix Below:

Pre-save & Pre-order

Born in Brittany, France, and based in Oslo, Le Pape first gained attention as guitarist in Satyricon from 2007 to 2013, touring extensively and contributing to the band’s self-titled album. After stepping away to explore a broad range of musical directions, he returned to extreme music with a renewed creative vision and sharpened intent. Via Doloris represents the culmination of that journey: a project shaped by solitude, discipline and an uncompromising sense of craft.

Rooted in Nordic black metal tradition yet guided by melody, restraint and emotional depth, Via Doloris occupies a space distinct from genre convention. Le Pape writes all music and lyrics, performing guitars, bass and vocals. The compositions favor measured, expressive arcs over aggression or spectacle, with melody serving as the driving force rather than ornamentation. Folk and pagan influences surface throughout the arrangements, lending the album a timeless, almost ritualistic atmosphere. Lyrics shift between French, English and Norwegian, each language chosen deliberately for its emotional weight and texture.

Frost’s nuanced playing adds both weight and subtlety to the record. Guest vocals on "Omniprésents" are performed by the late Raido (Ferriterium, Heimsgard, Karne).

Based in Oslo, Gildas Le Pape first gained attention in 2007 when he joined the legendary Satyricon as a guitarist. Over the next six years, he toured the world and contributed to the band’s recorded legacy, before stepping away to explore a broad range of musical directions. In time, this path led him back to extreme music, this time with a renewed creative vision and sharpened intent. In 2023, he invited his long-time collaborator, Frost — arguably one of the most accomplished drummers in the genre — to join him in bringing the debut release to life.

Erdve Release Grief-Striken New Single “Nyra”

Lithuanian experimental metal band Erdve reveal “Nyra”, the lead single from their upcoming full-length album Epigrama. The song introduces the emotional and conceptual gravity that shapes the record, presenting grief not as a fleeting reaction but as a force that traps the individual within cycles of memories and unresolved responsibilities.

Watch “Nyra” below:

EPIGRAMA is out May 29th via Season of Mist.

Pre-order & Pre-save

https://orcd.co/erdveepigrama

Driven by dense atmosphere and deliberate pacing, “Nyra” unfolds as a suffocating meditation on loss and recollection. The composition develops through carefully structured tension rather than sudden aggression, allowing heavy, atmospheric guitars and restrained rhythmic movement to create a gradual sense of psychological pressure. This controlled intensity reflects the album’s broader commitment to intentional songwriting, where each element contributes to a cohesive emotional architecture.

Accompanying the single, ERDVE present a music video filmed at the Park of Europe in Joneikiškės, Lithuania. The visual unfolds among monumental sculptural works, including Double Negative Pyramid by Sol LeWitt (1999), Space of Unknown Growth by Magdalena Abakanowicz (1998), Lying Head by A. Jacovskis (2001), Chamber of Light by Aleš Veselý (1997), and White by Artūras Raila (1992).

The band is known to dive into unexpected ventures by choosing to perform in places that intuitively seem incoherent to the type of music being played or are not considered to be regular venues. First such show took place in the church of St. John's 2019 and another one in Lukiškės Ex-Prison, both in Vilnius, Lithuania.

After the second album, the band took some time to rediscover their relationship with music and identified the elements that would convey their future vision in the most truthful way. This idea is followed by their 2026 release - EPIGRAMA, that delivers a familiar, yet a fundamentally different approach towards experimenting within the confines of heavy music and reflective storytelling. The goal was to craft a meticulous consistency between the music, lyrics and sound production, where every aspect of the song works together to create meaningful impact. This album marks a new beginning for ERDVE, in the process of rediscovery, experimentation and raw expression.

ONLY HUMAN Break the System on New Single “Techno Fascist”

While fresh to the prog space, ONLY HUMAN are already on the brink of a major discovery with their debut album. On Planned Obsolescence, the Danish upstarts invent an existential form of prog metal that speaks to our not-too-distant dystopia.

Today, ONLY HUMAN are releasing the third and final advanced single from Planned Obsolescence. “Techno Fascist” confronts the forces corrupting our society with the band’s cutting-edge fusion of prog, classic rock and modern metal.

“At the core of ‘Techno Fascist’ is a confrontation with the privatized technocratic establishments of today”, Only Human vocalist Patrick Grønbæch Christensen says. “The song questions the acceptance of disruptive technology as an inevitability while also asserting that we all have a choice in whether we want to risk losing our humanity to a soulless system that guides our every move”.

Watch the music video for “Techno Fascist” below:

Planned Obsolescence comes out March 27, 2026 on Season of Mist.

“When the world is going badly, the reason is because people gave up”, Christensen concludes. “Things aren’t hopeless. We can absolutely fight back. Hopefully, this album gets people to think about valuing humanity over profit”.

Eihwar Announce First U.S. Tour

Since breaking the Internet two years ago, Eihwar have quickly grown into a real live force. The fantasy Viking duo have entranced sold-out crowds across Europe, at major festivals like Wacken Open Air, Hellfest and Midgardsblot, and during dates supporting The Hu. This year, pagan superheroes Asrunn and Mark are drawing hordes of fans deeper into their Viking War Trance with their hotly-received new album. Hugrheim sets Viking dance floors ablaze with shamanic drums, magical chants and powerful electro beats.

As Hugrheim continues to pound across the international music landscape from dusk to dawn, today, Eihwar are thrilled to announce their first-ever U.S. tour. This fall’s Nordic Ritual Nights tour brings warriors of the dance floor in 17 U.S. cities from coast to coast a chance to raise their drinking horns high and shake what the gods have given them. The setlist for this tour includes new singles“Nauðiz”, “Freyja's Calling”, “Heill Óðinn” and “Hugrheim”, which have combined for more than two million plays on YouTube and Spotify.

We’re honored to bring the songs of Hugrheim to the United States”, Eihwar says. “On stage, we open a path toward Hugrheim, the hidden tenth world of Yggdrasil, where ritual drums, chants and electronic pulses call the warriors of the North to gather. Expect a night somewhere between a ritual and a slightly unhinged dancefloor. If a Viking Shakira appears next to Fjordcore’s version of Darth Vader… do not worry. That simply means the gates of Hugrheim are open”.

Get ready for the wild electro Nordic folk of EIHWAR! These "Enfants Terribles" aren’t here for solemn atmospheres—their fierce and festive fantasy is made for raging Viking dancefloors. Backed by Season of Mist (home to Heilung and Danheim), Eihwar burst onto YouTube in 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. With millions of views and festival appearances at Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, and Midgardsblot at the Midgard Viking Center in Norway, they bring a new wave of pagan power shaking across Europe.

This second album from Eihwar describes the world from which these two pagan superheroes originate. It is "Hugrheim," the 10th hidden world of Yggdrasil in Eihwar's fantasy mythology. The two musicians explain:

Over the past few years, our souls have gradually taken over the bodies of two human musicians. Through incarnation, we lost much of our memories. All that remains are images, emotions, and fragments from our previous existence, mixed in with the thoughts and memories of our human hosts. In this new song, we evoke the memories that gradually come back to us: memories of Hugrheim, the tenth world of Yggdrasil, hidden and unknown to men. This world is shaped by the Hugr, the spirit. In this realm dwell the invisible forces of the soul and consciousness. When our vessels perish here and our incarnation ends, we will return to Hugrheim. Still, we hope to remain here as long as possible this time, because nowadays the beer is fucking good, the rockstar life is pretty damn cool, and dental anesthesia actually exists.

Stoned Jesus Release New Video for “See You on The Road”

After 17 years of trailblazing, Stoned Jesus are still reaching new creative peaks. Last year, the heavy progressive rockers embarked on an expansive three-album journey that will take them from the sun to the moon and back. Songs to Sun, the trilogy’s mind-melting opener, was named one of the best albums of 2025 by Doom Charts, Rock Hard, The Obelisk, Weedian, Metal Lair and other publications. While the second album is fast approaching on the horizon, the trio are now firing up the engine with their latest road-burning anthem ahead of a co-headlining European tour with Wheel.

Today, Stoned Jesus are releasing a new video for “See You On The Road”. While the song reflects the wear and tear of life on tour, the accompanying footage from the band’s recent treks across Australia and South America is the perfect place for the song’s headbanging riffs and shout-along chorus.

“‘See You On The Road’ is a hymn to playing shows’”, frontman Igor Sydorenko says. While the song’s title is common parlance among touring musicians, Stoned Jesus are still guided by a burning need for innovation. “The jumpy main riff is as Soundgarden as it gets, while the closing chants are perfect for stoking a huge crowd”.

Songs to Sun is the first album in a forthcoming trilogy that once complete, will stand as the pinnacle of what's been a decades-long trip for Stoned Jesus. While picking up where Father Light left off, Sydorenko and his new mates still nod to Seven Thunders Roar and The Harvest along the way. But by merging metal's fiery intensity with mind-melting grooves, vintage prog and their catchiest choruses yet, they bring the many distinct phases of Stoned Jesus to a bright, burning head.

Season of Mist Announces Reissue of Borknagar’s True North

In staying true to metal’s origins, Borknagar have always let their spirit guide them. Starting with the band’s self-titled beginnings back in 1996, these Norwegians pushed past the boundaries set by traditional black metal. Over the course of the past 30 years, the band’s domain has come to include prog, neofolk and darkly enchanting hard rock, capped by major international tours and chart placements across the world.

Season of Mist is proud to announce a reissue of Borknagar’s album True North. More than two decades into their storied career, the band reached another creative peak on their eleventh full-length, which includes the hit singles “Up North”, “Voices” and “The Fire That Burns”.

True North will be reissued by Season of Mist on May 15, 2026.

Eihwar Premiere New Album 'Hugrheim'

Hot off a year of electrifying performances at Wacken Open Air, Midgardsblot and dates with The Hu, Eihwar are back to pull the world deeper into their Viking War Trance with hotly anticipated new album Hugrheim.

“Eihwar drags ancient, blood soaked combat directly into the heavy throb of the underground”, Folk N Rock writes in a track-by-track feature on Hugrheim. “They hammer voltage directly into iron battle axes, bringing sharpened steel to the dancefloor and burying war chants under some brutal weaponized distortion”.

Hugrheim comes out tomorrow, Friday, March 13 on Season of Mist, but you can hear all 10 pulse-pounding tracks today below.

Pre-order & pre-save

https://orcd.co/eihwarhugrheimalbum

With Hugrheim, Eihwar invite listeners into the hidden tenth world of Yggdrasil. The album is a thunderous trip, powered by war drums, pagan chants and questionable life choices.

Blending Nordic folk instrumentation with electro-industrial pulse and thunderous ritual percussion, Hugrheim captures the chaotic energy that has already rattled festival grounds from Wacken Open Air to Midgardsblot. Eihwar treat Norse mythology less like a museum piece and more like a very loud celebration. Ancient symbolism collides with trance languages, pounding rhythms and the kind of ritual enthusiasm that tends to make crowds forget they are supposed to stand still.

Across ten tracks, Hugrheim unfolds like a guided tour through the stranger corners of this unseen world. From the rune-bound trial of lead single “Nauðiz” and the invocation of “Freyja’s Calling” to the victorious chant of “Heill Óðinn,” each composition opens a new gateway into Hugrheim’s shifting landscapes, including the album’s eponymous track “Hugrheim”. There are battle rites, shadow realms and luminous gardens. There are also quite a lot of drums.

At the center of the story stand Mark and Asrunn, wandering spirits whose memories of Hugrheim slowly return while inhabiting human bodies on Midgard. Through chants, war drums and trance-driven rhythms, the duo translate that mythology into sound. The result is a concept album that moves easily between ritual atmosphere and outright pagan dancefloor energy.

There is something truly unique about Eihwar. In a way, the band relates to Vikings much like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles relate to turtles: wild, over-the-top superheroes who don’t take themselves too seriously. And yet, from their mischievous spirit and contagious joy emerges a deep and moving poetry. A kind of childlike wisdom.

Following the release of Hugrheim, Eihwar will carry the Tenth World across Europe on a headline run presented under the banner Pagan Folk Nights, joined by special guest Mira Ceti. After commanding major festival stages and igniting packed club shows, the duo now bring their ritual drums, trance chants and industrial folk pulse into an extended continental campaign.

TodoMal Sign to Season of Mist

Anglo-Spanish atmospheric doom metal collective TodoMal have signed to Season of Mist. Formed in 2020 by Christopher B. Wildman and Javier Fernández Milla, the project emerged from a meeting of two seasoned figures of the Spanish underground, united by a shared affinity for solemn doom, expansive rock and cinematic atmosphere.

TodoMal’s debut, Ultracrepidarian (2021), introduced a melancholic and immersive sound rooted in the desolate landscapes of northern Alcarria and Matarraña. Its successor, A Greater Good (2023), deepened that vision with what the band described as “dark songs,” earning placements in several end-of-year lists and prompting a second physical pressing following strong demand.

Spanish publication Mondo Sonoro placed the album among its Top 10 of 2023, while international outlets including No Clean Singing, The Sleeping Shaman and Zware Metalen praised the band’s balance of weight, atmosphere and cinematic scope.

Building on this momentum, TodoMal expanded into a five-piece live ensemble, incorporating musicians active in acts such as Teitanblood, Graveyard and Maud the Moth. The expanded line-up has already brought the project to stages including Be Prog! My Friend, Under The Doom Fest and Frantic Fest, sharing bills with artists such as Candlemass, My Dying Bride and Dødheimsgard.

Official Biography:

TodoMal came to life in what could be described as the year zero of our era — 2020 — conceived by Anglo-Spanish musician / composer Christopher B. Wildman and musician / composer and producer Javier Fernández; two veteran multi-instrumentalists of the Spanish underground scene whose extensive careers span a myriad of projects across a wide range of musical styles.

A product of pure serendipity, TodoMal represents a deeply personal fusion of the solemnity of traditional doom metal and the expansiveness of space rock, interwoven with nuances of ecclesiastical music, classic hard rock, and cinematic soundscapes.

Their debut album, Ultracrepidarian (2021), unfolds a journey through hypnotic compositions, The record evokes the placid yet desolate moorlands of their headquartes in northern Alcarria and the región of Matarraña (Teruel) — two emblematic landscapes of Spain’s so-called “emptied lands”.

With A Greater Good (2023), the duo crafted a collection of what they describe as “dark songs”, building upon the seeds planted in Ultracrepidarian and evolving into a complex, dense and unclassifiable album. The record appeared in several “best of the year” lists and received outstanding reviews from publications and webzines including Mondo Sonoro, No Clean Singing, Zwaren Metalen and Metal Revolution, among others. Following high demand, the physical edition sold out, leading to a second pressing.

Fueled by this momentum, and with a growing audience eager to experience the band live, the duo entered the studio during 2024–2025 to begin recording their next chapter. At the same time, they expanded into a five-piece live ensemble, joined by Javier Félez (guitar, Teitanblood, Graveyard, Balmog), Javier “Bud” Martínez (drums, Dejadeath, Jade, Ktulu) and Cecilia Tallo (keyboards / vocals, Maud the Moth), creating an immersive audio-visual show. This development sparked the enthusiasm of promoters, leading the band to perform at renowned festivals such as Be Prog! My Friend (2024, Barcelona), Under The Doom Fest (2025, Lisbon), Frantic Fest (2025, Abruzzo, Italy) and Okkult Sessions (2025, Barcelona), sharing the stage with artists such as Candlemass, My Dying Bride and Dødheimsgard, among many others.

With their sights now firmly set on 2026 and their forthcoming release — and with new festival appearances across Europe, among which “Resurrection Fest” already confirmed — TodoMal prepare to embark on the next chapter of their journey.

Green Carnation Seize the Moment on New Single “I Am Time”

Three decades into a storied career, Green Carnation continue to stand the test of time. Just last year, the Norwegian prog bards reached crushing new highs during the grand and gloomy opening chapter of their long-awaited album trilogy. Now, as the band descend into deeper, darker and more personal depths on Part II of A Dark Poem, they are breaking past the surface with the album’s emotional peak.

Today, Green Carnation are releasing the second advanced single from A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis. While awash with melancholy over the past, “I Am Time” seizes the moment with the band’s unwavering control and raw emotions.

“‘I Am Time’ is one of the songs from the forthcoming A Dark Poemalbum trilogy that discusses the fragile nature of our lives”, Green Carnation vocalist Kjetil Nordhus says. “We do not have control over time. We should try and live in the here and now, before suddenly, it’s too late”.

“To make the song a bit more interesting, the lyrics personify time”, says Green Carnation bassist and lyricist Stein Roger Sordal. “They’re about how we should respect and cherish the time that we have”.

Crippled Black Phoenix Release New Single “Colder and Colder”

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX return with “Colder and Colder”, the second advanced single off their upcoming album Sceaduhelm. The new single stands as one of the album’s starkest meditations on emotional finality, articulating the quiet shock of love slipping irretrievably away. The band are premiering the song today via Decibel Magazine.

Listen to Colder and Colder  Below:

Sceaduhelm comes out April 17th via Season of Mist.

Composed by Justin Greaves, with lyrics & vocals by Justin Storms of Wailin Storms, “Colder and Colder” unfolds with restrained intensity.

“I received this song from Greaves along with the title and immediately was drawn to the melancholic sound”, Justin Storms reflects. “I remember when I first put on my headphones and listened to ‘Colder and Colder’. I started to hum a few melodies while listening to the song.

Those early fragments quickly solidified into the song’s core lyrical motif. “It didn’t take long to write down some of the phrases that became the song’s verses,” Storms continues, “‘colder and colder, see your hand on my shoulder, colder and colder, see your eyes looking over’. I wanted to create a rhythmic sort of pattern with the song title and the vocal elements.

Justin Greaves positions “Colder and Colder” as a bridge within Sceaduhelm. “Musically, ‘Colder And Colder’ is one of my favorites on Sceaduhelm. It’s the link between classic CBP style and the more austere dark pop aspect of how I write.

The song’s title, which was selected from an existing list of ideas, crystallizes the mood. “Working with Storms on this song was a total victory”, Greaves says. “He’s an awesome vocalist and his lyrics really give it a chilling tragic story.”

Recorded between 2023 and 2025 across Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, Kapsylen Studio in Stockholm, and House Of Foto in Louisville, Sceaduhelm was produced by Justin Greaves, mixed by Iver Sandøy at Solslottet Studio in Bergen, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg in Stockholm.

Within Crippled Black Phoenix’s wider catalogue, Sceaduhelm does not seek to resolve previous narratives or replicate past high points. Instead, it documents a moment of exposure and endurance, listening closely to what remains when spectacle fades and outrage exhausts itself. It stands as a severe, human record, concerned less with declaration than with persistence, and affirms once more the band’s refusal to stand still, soften its gaze, or offer easy answers.

Beyond Creation Announce Latin American Headline Tour

From the beginning, it was clear that Beyond Creation possessed a special aura. On their debut album, the Montréal four-piece concocted the next progressive evolution in technical death metal by splicing together classic brutality and prog’s insatiable curiosity with a refreshing knack for melody. Now, in light of releasing their first new song in eight years, the Independent Music Award winners and Canadian Grammy nominees are announcing their first tour celebrating the 15th anniversary of The Aura.

Next month, Beyond Creation will tour Latin America on a special The Aura 15th anniversary tour. The band will perform the album in its entirety for the first time ever. Their setlist will include “Omnipresent Perception”, which has more than 6 million views on YouTube, and “The Deported”, the album’s epic closer, which has never been played live before in Latin America. This tour will also mark the live debut of revelatory new single “Reverence”. Joining as special guest on all ten dates are Fallujah, who are touring Latin America for the first time.

“Our 15th anniversary tour in celebration of The Aura is officially starting in Latin America next month”, Beyond Creation vocalist and guitarist Simon Girard says. “We will perform our debut album in its entirety for the first time ever!”

“Fifteen years ago, The Aura marked the beginning of our sonic journey”, Girard reflects. “A relentless and intricate force that carved a lasting legacy into the heart of the technical death metal scene. This anniversary tour is a celebration of where it all began and of everything we’ve built together since”.

April 29 - León, Mexico

April 30 - Guadalajara, Mexico

May 3 - Mexico City, Mexico

Before appearing out of the Canadian woodwork back in 2011, Beyond Creation had already undergone multiple permutations. But with the band’s full-length debut, the Montréal four-piece quickly revealed themselves as the next evolution in technical death metal. The Aura has been encoded in the genre’s DNA ever since.

“Laden with atmosphere, The Aura stands out from the crowded 2011 tech/death scene thanks to the prominent use of fretless bass, varying drum patterns, and experimentation with tempo”, wrote Metal Injection in a recent retrospective. “Combine that with a variety of searing vocal styles and classically-influenced, lightening-fast sweeps, The Aura is a decadent joy to the mechanically and sonically minded”.
