Ponte Del Diavolo Announce New Album 'De Venom Natura'

Last year, Ponte Del Diavolo made their mark by bridging the gap between several darkened corners of the underground on their fiery debut album. Fire Blades from the Tomb welds doom, black metal and post-punk into a towering, twisted, new wave of dark art that's as cruel and mesmerizing as their native Italy's infamous Devil's Bridge.

"...a bold, engrossing, fully formed debut from a talented new band", wrote Last Rites.

Today, the Italians are fanning the flames by announcing their new album. De Venom Natura pushes the band’s potent fusion even further behind their distinct, dueling bass guitars. Forged in the fires unearthed by their ritualistic performances, the album offers an intoxicating meditation on nature’s poisonous undercurrent. Charmed by Erba del Diavolo’s bewitching vocals, the lyrics slither and snake around the idea that every life form carries its own toxin that brings both rebirth and decay.

“For this record, we wanted to push the boundaries of our music and further develop certain sounds that were only sketched in our previous works,” Ponte Del Diavolo says. “After two years of live shows, we set out to capture the atmosphere of our performances and put it on record. The core of bass, guitar, and drums was recorded live to recreate that feeling of being at one of our shows.”

De Venom Natura comes out February 13, 2026 on Season of Mist. More details will be announced soon.

PONTE DEL DIAVOLO craft a focused blend of doom, black metal, post‐punk, and wave—an aesthetic they call “blackened post‐punk.” Wave‐tinged female vocals anchor the project’s flaming core, supported by an uncommon dual‐bass setup that grounds the rhythmic guitars and a raw, dynamic drum pulse.

The result is an immersive, tension‐driven sound. Following the initial release of three EPs, the band signed to Season of Mist and unveiled their first full-length album, Fire Blades from the Tomb.

After two years on the road - appearing at leading European festivals such as Roadburn and Inferno in support of their debut - Ponte del Diavolo return with “De Venom Natura,” a record that extends and refines their musical boundaries.

Horrendous Announce 'Anareta' Anniversary Shows

As they prepare to follow up their latest list-topping, Billboard-busting album, Horrendous are kicking off 2026 by celebrating the record that has come to define the band's steady upward trajectory.

Come January, Philadelphia's finest death metal band will perform two special shows in New York City and Baltimore to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Anareta, which Decibel Magazine named the best album of 2015. During both shows, the band will play the album in full.

"This album was forged during a period of intense inspiration and drive", Horrendous says about Anareta. "We were honing our sound while exploring new territory, and felt like we were truly becoming ourselves".

"We are excited to reanimate these songs, many of which have not been performed in years, and to breathe new life into this record that propelled the band down our current trajectory", the band continues. "We hope you'll join us to toast Anareta! We will shortly be entering hibernation to focus our efforts on writing our sixth album".

“Surprises always come up during writing — spontaneous ideas pull you into new territory and enable the realization of novel possibilities that previously were inaccessible.”

Such are the words from Horrendous drummer Jamie Knox when discussing the creation of the band’s fifth full-length, the highly anticipated 'Ontological Mysterium'. Knox’s quote also encapsulates Horrendous’s approach to extreme metal. Since 2009, the band has capably tapped into the inaccessible by providing a fresh, unconventional take on death metal that harnesses technical brilliance with elaborate, mind-melding melodies, frothy, spewing vocals and labyrinthine song structures. This combination has made each Horrendous long play a clinic in the gratifyingly unorthodox. The trend continues on Ontological Mysterium.

The follow-up to 2018’s Idol was recorded, mixed and mastered at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in Virginia, which doubles as the homestead of guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring. While the band (completed by guitarist/vocalist Matt Knox and bassist Alex Kulick) finished much of the songwriting for Ontological Mysterium in 2019, its recording was delayed by the 2020 global pandemic and various life events. Horrendous eventually finished recording in early 2022 and mastered the album before the start of 2023.

The album upholds Horrendous’s position as one of the underground’s best outside-of-the-box extreme metal bands. Having long abandoned concern whether people would appreciate their “uniqueness,” Horrendous has embraced its role as a band willing to veer far from death metal conventions, intentionally stretching and breaking norms. To wit, the band primarily views its music as filtered through a death metal lens. This may be Horrendous’s defining trait: By not accepting parameters, nothing is off-limits.

Alkaloid Perform Bach

Since assembling in 2013, Alkaloid have known no bounds. Fresh from the minds who brought metalheads Obscura, Triptykon and Dark Fortress, the supergroup has rearranged the very composition of progressive death metal. Their three studio albums are widely acclaimed for synthesizing seemingly opposing forces. Worldly polyrhythms are bent to shape sci-fi storylines, only to morph into brutally catchy choruses. However, last summer, the quintet conducted a truly one-of-a-kind experiment, the kind that only a maestro an perform.

Today, Alkaloid are announcing their very first live album. Recorded live in the Netherlands during three special performances, Bach Out of Bounds brings the classical world in conversation with the heaviest of underground arts. Joined by an award-winning ensemble of vocalists, accordion and string players, the band present wildly re-imagined arrangements of three compositions from Johann Sebastian Bach, while also infusing the heart and soul of the classic composer into their own songs.

Along with fresh takes on fan favorites from Numen and The Malkuth Grimoire, Bach Out of Bounds introduces two new songs to Alkaloid's cannon. "Haunter of the Void" looks deep into an unknown future, but its far-out tale is guided by the progressive metal maestro's cosmically crushing virtuoso.

"We're always open for an artistic challenge", says Morean, Alkaloid's vocalist and guitarist. "When Bach Out of Bounds, came our way, we fully embraced the adventure to show yet another side of Alkaloid. We were lucky to be supported by guest artists who share our vision and passion for defying boundaries".

"'Haunter of the Void' was especially commissioned for this show", Morean continues. "The song translates Bach and 18th century polyphony into Alkaloid's sonic universe by applying Baroque counterpoint composition techniques to our own scales and harmonies. This 10-minute epic links Bach and Alkaloid without diluting our identity one iota".

Even though it was commissioned specially for this performance by the Dutch Performing Arts Fund (FPK), "Haunter of the Void" couldn't have come from any other mind but Alkaloid's. After all, the band has already charted a multi-part saga about a galactic civilization that reaches god-like levels. Their latest space odyssey follows a digitized brain into the void, where it must defy the impossible in order to protect what little hope remains for a long-dead Earth.

"Thrown to the darkness / To survive", Morean and soprano Chrysa Tsaltampasi call out to each other as if drifting into a black hole.

"Haunter of the Void" truly expands Alkaloid's universe. Applying Bach's polyphonic composition techniques has deepened the band's gravitational pull. Accordion, violin and cello streak like shooting stars beneath the meteoric riffs and laser-like solos of new guitarists Max Blok and Justin Hombach. With drums rumbling ahead at warped-speed, the song climbs to a head-banging crescendo that sent the crowd at Bachfestival home happy with their minds fully blown.

“The audience who came and saw these performances went crazy for it”, Morean remembers. “I’m so happy that we can now share them with people everywhere. People aren’t going to know what hit them. Bach Out of Bounds is very different from what other metal bands - or even Alkaloid – normally do”.

In 2021, Crown’s The End of All Things revealed a striking metamorphosis. Few extreme metal bands have enjoyed the shelf life of Rotten Sound. The Finnish exports longevity is practically unheard of for grindcore. The band's core lineup of guitarist Mika Aalto, vocalist Keijo Niinimaa and drummer Sami Latva have been banging heads since 2004. Their high-speed blend of classic D-beat punk and Swedish death metal has only sharpened with each successive stab in the studio. "Brave New World" shatters your speakers like the perfectly-timed throw of a Molotov cocktail.

All eight songs on Mass Extinction were spliced from the same radioactive Petri dish that birthed Apocalypse. But Rotting Sound's whopping 11th EP is no half-life mutation. In just under 10 minutes, the band chew through a festering host of societal ills. Ushered in by an opening address from none other than Jim Jones, "Brave New World" warns against following party lines sown by divisive leaders. "Trust no one", Niinimaa screams over rapid-fire blasts and bludgeoning riffs that send the opposition ducking for cover.

Rotten Sound know how to get their message across. In just under 10 minutes, Mass Extinction chews through toxic consumerism, labor exploitation and other plagues on society. Defeated Sanity Crush the Crowd at Brutal Assault

In just under two weeks, Defeated Sanity are finally hitting North America live and in the flesh with their latest Billboard-busting album. The brutal technical death metal innovators are leveling major cities across the U.S. and Canada alongside Sanguisugabogg, Despised Icon and Corpse Pile, along with some eye-popping special guests.

Bedsore Sign to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to welcome Bedsore!

Seven years ago, Bedsore appeared from Italy's underground with a magical potion that stirs together death metal, vintage prog rock and cinematic horror. The band's first album Hypnagogic Hallucinations was plenty potent, though last year's follow-up proved truly mesmerizing. Dreaming the Strife for Love was named one of the best metal albums of 2024 by Brooklyn Vegan, Treble, BangerTV and other notable publications.

Now, as the band return to the studio for their upcoming third album and first since fleshing out into a six-piece lineup, Bedsore are pleased to finally reveal that they've signed with Season of Mist.

"With a long and continued tradition of supporting leading artists who are on the cutting edge, Season of Mist represents the perfect partner for Bedsore's musical imagery, offering us an open field for creative exploration while also helping us reach listeners who truly care", says the band's founding members Jacopo Gianmaria Pepe and Stefano Allegretti. Abysmal Dawn Return with "Cradle of Affliction"

While they hail from the City of Angels, Abysmal Dawn remain one of death metal's most consistently crushing creative forces. Two decades removed from their very first tour, next month, the L.A. mainstays are hitting the road hard once again with the mighty Krisiun. Only this time, they'll be raising hell with their first new song since 2022.

Today, Abysmal Dawn are releasing "Cradle of Affliction". Even though its various mutations have been banging around in their heads since Phylogenesis, the band's new single proves timely. "'Cradle of Affliction' nods to the sound of our first record and our earlier melodic death metal influences like At The Gates", explains vocalist, guitarist and founding member Charles Elliott. "This one is for Tomas (R.I.P.) and all the fans who have continued to support Abysmal Dawn throughout our journey for more than two decades now".

"The music is written played, recorded and mixed by humans", Elliott continues. "The artwork was created by a human. The music video was shot and edited by a human. We hope you come out to a show and support four of your favorite semi-humans playing death metal while you still can. Cheers!"

"Cradle of Affliction" bears the bloodied markings of Abysmal Dawn. The production is crisp but thick with heavy double bass and bone-crunching riffs. Back-to-back guitar solos twist like two spires up the same darkened tower, circling back to a killer chorus that begs to be screamed with horns raised to the rafters. "Cursed in name / Blessed in death". Indeed, few bands have ever possessed such unholy staying power.

Enthroned Release Scorching New Single "Ashspawn"

Mayhem Celebrating 25 Years of 'Grand Declaration of War'

No band embodies the spirit of black metal like Mayhem. In the wake of violence and scandal, the Norwegians set the standard for the genre with their canonical 1994 debut. Other influential acts were quick to follow in their footsteps, but these iconoclasts defied convention by making a truly bold statement on Grand Declaration of War.

"This record means a lot", its chief sonic architect Blasphemer told Outburn during a recent retrospective on the band's long since debated second album. "It built a foundation, not only for me personally, but it also built a new foundation for Mayhem".

Today, Season of Mist is celebrating the album's 25th anniversary with a special edition of Grand Declaration of War. Along with the original master, this sunburst colored gatefold LP includes new silver hot foil packaging, a double-sided poster and an embroidered leather patch.

"For Season of Mist, there was a before and an after Grand Declaration of War", says the label's founder and manager Michael Berberian. "This is probably the first true classic album we ever released, the one that put us on the map. And what an album. Talk about unexpected. Talk about daring".

On Grand Declaration of War, Mayhem continued to bow down for no one – even themselves. The band were coldblooded as ever on merciless cuts like “A Time to Die”, but their arsenal of blast beats and tremolo picking was strengthened by an increase in command. Written in collaboration between newly appointed guitarist Blasphemer and vocalist Maniac, the album didn’t expand so much as it invaded territory that was then believed off-limits: spoken word (“View from Nihil”), trip-hop (“A Bloodsword and a Colder Sun”), soundscapes of doom (“Completion in Science of Agony”).

No matter how they choose to impose their will, after 25 years of Grand Declaration of War, there's still nowhere that Mayhem fear to tread.

The incredible rawness of the Deathcrush EP (1987) was followed by the still iconic and genre-defining De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994), which featured devilish drummer Jan Axel “Hellhammer” Blomberg, who had joined in 1988. The vocalist on this album was the Hungarian Attila Csihar of Tormentor fame, who returned later in 2004 to take over from his meantime heir, the enigmatic original singer Sven-Erik “Maniac” Kristiansen. The latter was featured on the Wolf’s Lair Abyss EP (1997), which was written mostly by highly talented guitarist Rune “Blasphemer” Eriksen, who scored a massive artistic success with the highly controversial Grand Declaration Of War (2000).

From the ashes of Crown, rises a shiny new banner for dark wave. On Your Inland Empire, the duo of Stéphane Azam and David Husser take the heavy electronics that they first donned on Crown’s last album a step further into the darkness of the club.

Today, Your Inland Empire are releasing “Grinding” as the second single off their upcoming debut album. Churning with pulsing beats, sparking riffs and shadowy bass lines, the song cuts straight to the album’s core, dancing between conflicting emotions and industrial decay, through the darkness and into the light.

That emergence is now complete. Your Inland Empire opens a new frontier with their upcoming self-titled debut album. “Grinding” pulses against bleak meditations on distance and dissolution. “I’m falling apart / In the void of my heart”, Azam sings, as if through gritted teeth, as he drifts through a haze of electro-shocked guitars.

“When writing music and lyrics, I often have very abstract visions — living paintings that I try to transcribe into sound,” Azam explains. “It can be colors, shapes, landscapes, people, all evolving in my imagination like a trance”.

The Old Dead Tree Announce Live EP

Having weathered two decades, The Old Dead Tree are still at the roots of dark progressive metal. Last year, the French band returned to much fanfare with Second Thoughts, their first full-length since 2007. Now, they’re back with a new EP that was recorded live at legendary Abbey Road Studios.

The Old Dead Tree are releasing the EP’s first advanced single. “Feel Alive Again” is a new song that’s cut for the stage, leaning into stadium rock while staying grounded in the band’s dark progressive foundation.

Defeated Sanity Release Punishing New Drum Playthrough

Having dedicated this year to leveling Europe and Latin America behind the sheer brutality of the band's latest Billboard-busting offering, Defeated Sanity are capping off 2025 with their first U.S. tour for Chronicles of Lunacy.

The long-standing innovators of brutal technical death metal are kicking off this mad-dash run with a special headlining show in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Defeated Sanity will then conjoin with their fellow lunatics in Corpse Pile, Despised Icon and Sanguisugabogg - who featured the band's vocalist Josh Welshman on their new single - for 22 dates covering both coasts. Along the way, Skinless, Bayway, Ringworm, Upon Stone and other guests will appear during select shows.

"We can't wait to finally present our new album Chronicles of Lunacy to our U.S. fans live and in action", Defeated Sanity says. "Be sure to join us as we brutalize the U.S. once again".

As they prepare to slam America with the critically-acclaimed Chronicles of Lunacy, today, Defeated Sanity are releasing a new drum playthrough for the album's most punishing song. "Condemned to Vascular Famine" will have heads banging, bodies flying and brains exploding when the band spills its bloodlust all over the stage.

"'Condemned to Vascular Famine' was voted by our fans as their favorite song off Chronicles of Lunacy, so we decided to open our set with it on the last tour", says Defeated Sanity's drummer, primary songwriter and co-founding member Lille Gruber. 1349 Announces 'Winter Mass' Live Album, Shares "I Am Abomination" Performance

True Norwegian black metal horde 1349 is now revealing that their latest live album, 'Winter Mass,' will be released on November 28, 2025 via Season of Mist. The concert was captured on November 20, 2021 in the band's hometown of Oslo (NO) at the venue Parkteatret. To commence this announcement, the band is now sharing the live recording of "I Am Abomination," along with the video, which can be seen below.

1349 frontman Ravn comments, "This show was captured between two lockdowns in the recent plague, and it mirrors the energy that we feel onstage to perfection. What you see here is the raw outburst of what we label 'Aural Hellfire.' To top it off, we also included all of the drawings that Kim Holm has done of us, thus far, and he also is able to convey that energy through his art. Rejoice and ravish this complete package of raw Hellfire!"

1349 has also recently been announced among the first wave of bands to take the stage at next year's edition of Beyond the Gates Festival. The epic four-day metal event will take place once again in the heart of Bergen (NO) from July 29 - August 1, 2026. Tickets are available HERE.

The cover artwork and layouts for 'Winter Mass' were created by Kim Diaz Holm. The Norwegian artist has captured more than 2,000 concerts, often while standing to the side of the stage. Holm has worked with larger-than-life artists like Abbath but developed a special connection with 1349 after drawing them at both Inferno Festival and Hulen in 2012. Over the past 13 years, he has continued to document the band's incendiary live shows and even designed their merch. What he's created for Winter Mass draws fans even closer to fire. Sketched while he was headbanging in the pit, these drawings leap off the page with the same raw, dark spirit as their muse.

Now, fresh from the ashes of their eighth album, The Wolf & The King, 1349 are releasing a new live album. Though recorded shortly after pandemic lockdown was lifted, 'Winter Mass' explodes out the gates with the band’s signature aural hellfire. This hour-plus set, recorded at Oslo's Parkteatret, enraptured their home crowd with apocalyptic spells from across their discography’s massive cauldron of chaos. Early classics like “Sculptor of Flesh” thrash with unchained madness. Recent favorite "Striding the Chasm" whips by at a blistering pace that could only be captured by cover artist Kim Diaz Holm, who drew the album’s artwork while headbanging in the pit.

"I will always be here / In all ways in all times", snarls Ravn on hellacious cut "I Am Abomination". After three decades and counting, what was once a proclamation is now a testament to 1349's enduring firepower.

Danheim Summons the Storm on New Single

With more than 1 billion streams and features in the History Channel TV show Vikings, Danheim has become a cornerstone for Nordic folk, Viking and World music alongside Heilung and Wardruna. On his upcoming ninth album and first since signing with Season of Mist, producer Reidar Schaefer Olsen is continuing to evolve the Nordic sound by journeying home.

Today, Danheim is releasing “Stormdans” as the second advanced single from Heimferd. With drums that roll like thunder and strings that swirl with all the silent anticipation of dark clouds on the horizon, the song embodies the tension at the heart of the album between restraint and release, destruction and renewal.

DANHEIM is a Nordic folk/Viking inspired project from the Copenhagen-based Danish producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen, a man with 10 years of experience in electronic and ambient music – focusing on Nordic Folk and Viking age inspired music with a certain Nordic authenticity or mood. Danheim’s music is often composed of ideas and stories based on the darker side of the Viking period, inspired or consisting of Nordic Mythology, old Danish folklore, and a vivid imagination.

Danheim hit 1 billion streams across streaming platforms in 2022, has 585.000 subscribers on YouTube, with music featured in multiple seasons of the popular TV show Vikings.

Early information: Singer-songwriter Reidar Schæfer Olsen, (born in 1985, Brøndby, Denmark), transitioned to focus on music in the early 2000s and has been composing music almost continuously ever since, alongside doing radio shows and starting the indie label Fimbul Records.

With a passion for songwriting running through his veins from an early age, Reidar Olsen’s Viking-inspired music and dark melodies have broadened the Nordic folk genre and inspired millions of listeners around the world, bringing them back in time with a blend of his imagination and creativity.

Eihwar Reveal Hidden World on New Single

The enfants terribles of Season of Mist’s roster, Eihwar, are releasing a new single today. Known for their explosive fusion of Nordic folk and electro-industrial chaos, the clan continues to defy the solemnity of most pagan acts on “Hugrheim” with a style that is wild, cartoonish, and fiercely ritualistic.

As Eihwar themselves proclaim:

“Over the past few years, our souls have gradually taken over the bodies of two human musicians. Through incarnation, we lost much of our memories. All that remains are images, emotions, and fragments from our previous existence, mixed in with the thoughts and memories of our human hosts. In this new song, we evoke the memories that gradually come back to us: memories of Hugrheim, the tenth world of Yggdrasil, hidden and unknown to men. This world is shaped by the Hugr, the spirit. Following a summer of electrifying festival appearances at Wacken Open Air, Resurrection Fest and Midgardsblot, as well as dates opening for The Hu, with “Hugrheim”, Eihwar present a song that both deepens their mythos and heightens their trance-driven energy.

The word “Hugrheim” comes from Old Norse roots. It can be understood as the realm of spirit, of memory, of consciousness. In the lore woven by Eihwar, their souls appear as reincarnated essences inhabiting human vessels, recalling fragments of their former existence. The song channels these recollections through warrior cries, horns, ritual percussion and machine-driven pulse, aligning Asrunn and Mark with pagan folk lineage while advancing into their own shamanic and celebratory, dance-driven terrain.

To celebrate “Hugrheim”, Eihwar are opening their new Traveling Merchant Webshop. This shop currently includes four t-shirt designs, one of which was only previously available at their concerts. It also holds the “Eihwar bindrune” medallion, which the duo describe as the “jewelry of the clan” - a symbolic extension of their ritual universe.

Many bands have explored the Pagan & Norse worlds over the last 15 years seeking atmospheric, acoustic and ritual sounds with great seriousness. This is not the path EIHWAR chose.
