Via Doloris Release Luminous New Single “Un Franc Soleil”

Via Doloris is rooted in an inward journey rather than orthodoxy. Conceived in solitude and shaped by discipline, composer and multi-instrumentalist Gildas Le Pape (ex-Satyricon) traces a melodic, atmospheric and introspective path through black metal’s foundations on upcoming debut album Guerre et Paix. He’s joined by Frost, the legendary drummer of Satyricon and 1349, who provides a sense of persistence, grounded and unyielding.

Today, Via Doloris are releasing the second advanced single from Guerre et Paix. Standing among the album’s most luminous moments, “Un Franc Soleil” captures a fleeting sensation of release after prolonged inner unrest. An atmospheric depiction of an illusion glimpsed from afar, the song evokes the distant promise of a life freed from struggle, a vision radiant yet never fully attained.

Listen to “Un Franc Soleil” below.

Guerre et Paix comes out March 20 on Season of Mist.

“Un Franc Soleil” captures Via Doloris at their most expansive and textural. The song unfolds in measured restraint; layered guitars trace gentle melodic figures across a patient rhythmic foundation.  Frost’s nuanced drumming anchors the gradual ascent of each chord progression, allowing melody to emerge from distortion and clarity from dissonance. Written in French, the lyrics carry vulnerability and resolve in equal measure, portraying serenity not as certainty, but as something only ever approached.

Within the broader architecture of Guerre et Paix, “Un Franc Soleil” functions as a threshold: a contemplative pause before the album returns to denser and more conflicted terrain.

Based in Oslo, Gildas Le Pape first gained attention in 2007 when he joined the legendary Satyricon as a guitarist. Over the next six years, he toured the world and contributed to the band’s recorded legacy, before stepping away to explore a broad range of musical directions. In time, this path led him back to extreme music, this time with a renewed creative vision and sharpened intent. In 2023, he invited his long-time collaborator, Frost — arguably one of the most accomplished drummers in the genre — to join him in bringing the debut release to life.

Only Human Push Past the Brink of Existence on New Single “Breach”

ONLY HUMAN are fresh to the prog space. But the Danish upstarts are already on the brink of a major discovery with their debut album. Planned Obsolescence invents an existential form of prog metal that speaks to our not-too-distant dystopia.

Today, ONLY HUMAN are releasing the second advanced single from Planned Obsolescence. “Breach” is pushed past the brink of our existence by despair, but the band’s cutting-edge fusion emerges like a beacon of hope.

“‘This is a brooding song”, the band’s vocalist Patrick Grønbæch Christensen says. “It’s a lament for how we’ve let cynicism take a permanent hold and lead us past the point of no return”.

Watch the lyric video for “Breach” below:

Planned Obsolescence comes out March 27, 2026 on Season of Mist.

Pre-order & Pre-save

https://orcd.co/onlyhumanplannedobsolescence

Concept albums are standard entries in metal’s archives. But when the five members of ONLY HUMAN came together after connecting online and IRL over everything from The Matrix to Bring Me The Horizon, they wired the band’s framework around one prevailing idea.

“We like a lot of bands that just play rock music, but we wanted ONLY HUMAN to be about something”, says Christensen, who also produced, mixed and mastered Planned Obsolescence. “This album is supposed to wake people up to all the ways technocracy is encroaching on society. We now live in a reality where humans are products to be consumed and disposed of”.

While the first single from Planned Obsolescence cautioned against technology automating our every waking decision, “Breach” raises the alarm to a full-on blast. Scrambled electronics, dissonant guitars and pulse-pounding drums blare over the speakers, warning those asleep at the wheels of society that now is the time to hit eject. “Aimless in the midst of disaster” , Christensen screams in terror, as if preparing for the impact of our inevitable collapse.

“Self-destructive tendencies are a natural force in the world”, Christensen says, “but it’s our own choices and weaknesses that ultimately will them into existence”.

Planned Obsolescence presents a vision for the future that’s far beyond sunshine and rainbows. “Breach” ends the album not on the verge of apocalypse but spiraling into the void amidst soul-crushing riffs. Even the glowing keys appear like a comet bound for Earth. But while fueled by existential dread, ONLY HUMAN arrive as a beacon of hope. “Do you feel what I feel?”. In the age of artificial intelligence, the band’s combination of prog, djent, hard rock and electronics isn’t just meaningful but vital.

Catch ONLY HUMAN live and in the flesh during their upcoming record release show, as well as at Sweden Rock Festival and Naestved Metalfest.

The lyric video for “Breach” was created by Tamara Llenas of Aimed & Framed.

“When the world is going badly, the reason is because people gave up”, Christensen concludes. “Things aren’t hopeless. We can absolutely fight back. Hopefully, this album gets people to think about valuing humanity over profit”.

Bizarrekult Confronts All There Is on New Album Alt Som Finnes

True to black metal’s fiercely individual spirit, upon moving to Norway at the end of the 2000s, Roman V. started Bizarrekult as a lone wolf. Much like Roman’s previous two retreats into the studio, his upcoming third album emerged from a deeply personal crisis. Only on Alt Som Finnes, he’s not alone in confronting all there.

Alt Som Finnes comes out this Friday, February 20 on Season of Mist Underground Activists, but you can hear all eight absorbing songs today by listening to the full album stream below.

“I was not ready for all this”, Roman says about Alt Som Finnes. “None of us are, when the time comes. But at the end of this journey, it seems to have all been worth it. The music gave me hints as to where to go and what can be”.

Pre-order & Pre-save

https://orcd.co/bizarrekultaltsomfinnes

Alt Som Finnes maintains the classic energy of old school Norwegian black metal. “Verdens verste” rails against consumerism with blistering grooves. With its crazed riffs and blistering howls, there’s no escape from the feverish intensity of “Drøm”. But Bizarrekult’s new album strips away all of our defenses while adding more post-metal ambiance. “Avmakt” surges and seethes in a fight for control before losing power amidst melodies that fall then fade like dying pinpricks of light.

No one will emerge unscathed from Alt Som Finnes. However, for the first time, Roman is joined in his struggle. The album features guest vocalists from Predatory Void, MØL and Dødheimsgard. Behind a steady pounding of double bass, lead single “Blikket Hennes” buzzes with the all-consuming darkness of a guilty conscience, only for Yusaf “Vicotnik” Parvez to enlighten us with soothing cleans. Despite being riddled with regrets, closer “Tomhet” breaks new ground as the first Bizarrekult song sung in English.

Am I alone like this? No, we are many”. As the album storms through the finish line, Roman and Kim Song Sternkopf howl together into the void. It’s a damning realization, but also a call for us to become something greater.

On Alt Som Finnes, Bizarrekult confronts all there is with devastating clarity.

Heilung Announce Podcast

Heilung are known around the world for transcending the boundaries of sound and history. Since forming in 2015, the Nordic collective have made their unmistakable presence felt everywhere from the Billboard charts to Glastonbury, The Game Awards and major Hollywood films. Their performance rituals draw crowds into an intimate, mystical space that threads together earth, fire and incense with throat singing, primordial rhythms, subtle electronic textures, a mesmerizing light show and instruments made from human bone.

Today, Heilung are inviting both fans and newcomers to step into their world, where history and spirit converge, by announcing their first-ever podcast. Hosted by founding member, singer and shamanic practitioner Kai Uwe Faust, The Podcast journeys into the lore, traditions and primal forces that shape Heilung and their Amplified History. The first episode is dedicated to “Afladhirhait”, which opens their debut album Ofnir and is featured on their latest live album Lifa Iotungard .

Listen to the first episode of The Podcast Below:

“I’m excited to offer an intimate look at how history, myth and sound merge into what Heilung calls amplified history through this podcast”, Faust says. “Join me during this first episode as I reflect on the songwriting process, mythological roots, historical references, ritual significance and the symbolic world around ‘Alfadhirhaiti’”.

Now, as they prepare to headline the longest-running heavy metal tour in North America, the Canadian legends are proud to add another accomplishment to their Hall of Fame career.

Cryptopsy are proud to announce that they are featured on the cover of this month’s issue of Decibel Magazine. “We are extremely proud to be on the cover of Decibel for the second time in less than a year”, Cryptopsy says. “Decibel is by far one of the most important magazines for metal. We’re honored to share this achievement alongside the bands who are joining us on this year’s Decibel Tour. These shows are going to be violent, cathartic and unforgettable”.

“Between the strength of the material on their latest release, An Insatiable Violence, and the anniversary celebration of their landmark, None So Vile, 2026 is clearly the year of Peak Cryptopsy”, Decibel Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief Albert Mudrian says. “We couldn’t be more honored to bring the band’s paramount present and potent past together to headline this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour”.

PONTE DEL DIAVOLO Premiere Intoxicating New Album De Venom Natura

Fresh off of leaving a mark on their fiery debut, Ponte Del Diavolo are fanning the flames with their hotly-anticipated sophomore album. Drawing from the dark and dancing depths of the band’s dueling bassists and the raw spirit of their fiery live ritual, De Venom Natura delivers an all the more potent twist of blackened post-punk.

De Venom Natura comes out tomorrow, Friday, February 13 on Season of Mist, but you can hear all seven intoxicating songs today by listening to the full album stream below.

Pre-order & pre-save

https://orcd.co/pontedeldiavolovenomnatura

At the heart of De Venom Natura lies a central concept: Nature as both seduction and toxin, creation and annihilation. The record contemplates poison not as mere destruction, but as a transformative agent within an eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth. Across seven tracks, including “Lunga vita alla necrosi,” and “Il veleno della Natura,” the band articulate this duality through ritualistic repetition, lyrical invocations and a tension-driven sonic architecture.

Emerging from Turin’s underground in 2020, Ponte Del Diavolo have forged a distinct identity rooted in doom, black metal, post-punk and wave. Their uncommon dual-bass configuration remains central to the project’s character, grounding rhythmic guitars beneath wave-tinged female vocals and a raw, dynamic drum pulse. On De Venom Natura, that foundation is pushed further. The core instrumentation was recorded live at The Deepest Sea studio in Turin to preserve the immediacy and tension of their performances.

With De Venom Natura, Ponte del Diavolo extend their boundaries without abandoning their core identity. It is a record that channels stage-born intensity into a controlled studio ritual, where poison becomes revelation and decay becomes a form of consciousness.

PONTE DEL DIAVOLO craft a focused blend of doom, black metal, post‐punk, and wave—an aesthetic they call “blackened post‐punk.” Wave‐tinged female vocals anchor the project’s flaming core, supported by an uncommon dual‐bass setup that grounds the rhythmic guitars and a raw, dynamic drum pulse.

The result is an immersive, tension‐driven sound. Following the initial release of three EPs, the band signed to Season of Mist and unveiled their first full-length album, Fire Blades from the Tomb.

After two years on the road - appearing at leading European festivals such as Roadburn and Inferno in support of their debut - Ponte del Diavolo return with “De Venom Natura,” a record that extends and refines their musical boundaries.

Mawiza Summon the Storm with New Video for “Ngulutu”

After taking the world by storm last year with their new album ÜL, Mawiza are beating the drum for indigenous metal even louder in 2026. The modern day Mapuche warriors paid a visit to Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier’s Silver Chord Studio and performed to a packed house in Santiago before taking the stage alongside Mr. Bungle and Avenged Sevenfold.

Today, Mawiza are releasing a new video for the most fierce and combative song off ÜL. While at one with the forces of groove metal, “Ngulutu” (The Western Storm) declares war on encroaching urban decay.

“In Mapuzugun, 'Ngulutu’ comes from Ngulu, which means West”, Mawiza’s vocalist and guitarist Awka says. “The song refers to an abysmal storm born in the turbulent Pacific Ocean that reaches the land in the form of bursting, shattered clouds. It’s a declaration of war on the so-called progress of large cities, merging ourselves as a single entity with nature”.

Watch the video for “Ngulutu” below.

ÜL is available now on  Season of Mist.

Order & Stream

https://orcd.co/mawizaul

Mawiza wrote “Ngulutu” six years ago in response to a social uprising in Chile, but the source material that inspired the latest single from ÜL dates as far back as the 16th century. “Both historical records and our oral tradition remember the ancient Mapuche war toki Michimolongko, who, together with his kona and weychafe, managed to destroy  Santiago in 1541”, Awka recalls. “This song is a tribute to those ancient warriors and to the power of the natural territory that lies beneath the city”.

While the torrential groove of “Ngulutu” is bound to churn the pit when Mawiza storm the stage at Midgardsblot this summer, the band draws its strength from their ancestral land. The song’s chorus calls on the spirits of the Mapocho and Maipo Rivers with surging, shark-like riffs and drums that beat with the unrelenting force of a tidal wave. “Müley taiñ amuleal / Fewla, fey llemay (We must keep moving forward / Now it shall be done!)”, Awka chants, summoning a breakdown that brings the most towering cities crumbling into ruin.

“The two rivers named in the chorus of ‘Ngulutu’ are both vital for life in the territory and even for the lives of city dwellers”, Awka explains. “Yet when it rains enough, the rivers overflow, causing the collapse of the urban order. It reminds us that nature is an active entity that cannot be tamed, one that sets the path we must follow as Mapuche people”.

The video for “Ngulutu” was directed by Andrés Hetzler.

ÜL pays tribute to nature and Mawiza’s ancestors. "Ngulutu" recalls ancient battles between the Mapuche and the Spanish in Santiago, Chile. "Mamüll Reke", "Wenu Weychan", "Lhan Antü", and "Kalli Lhayay" are filled with rhythms and sounds reminiscent of the most hermetic rituals of the Mapuche people. They were used by shamans to induce trance and heal the sick, to communicate with and greet the spirits of the mountains.

Closing song "Ti Inan Paw-pawkan" features chants from members of Mawiza’s indigenous community, as well as Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier. It is here, during the album’s finale, that the band stake their claim as both indigenous and urban. The song acknowledges the mission entrusted to Mawiza by Mapuche authorities and by the land itself: to raise awareness about balance on Earth in an empowered way and to call for greater attentiveness to Mapuche territory. Otherwise, the consequences will be dire.

Unverkalt Break from the Past with Newly Blackened Edge on “Introjects”

Ever since they emerged from Greece’s underground catacombs, Unverkalt have been drawn to the edge. On their upcoming third album, the post-metal luminaries finally plunge into the darkness that’s always waited for them below. While wrestling with the weight of our accursed history, Héréditaire now stands as the band’s heaviest and most heartfelt offering.

Today, Unverkalt are releasing the third and final advanced single from Héréditaire. “Introjects” breaks from the broken beliefs of the past with the band’s newly blackened edge.

“We often carry beliefs and ideas that were never ours but absorbed from the worlds of others”, Unverkalt says. “These dead constructs linger just beneath the surface, quietly shaping us - until something breaks. There’s a moment of dissonance, a crack in the surface, a realization that the weight we carry isn’t ours to bear”.

Watch the bright and blistering video for “Introjects” below.

Kalavrezou’s mystifying cleans remain one of Unverkalt’s defining traits. Even when trembling beneath the monolithic riff of “I, The Deceit”, her contempt for those who stand by as the world burns is heated when forged alongside her Athenian brother-in-arms Sakis Tolis from Rotting Christ. But as the album draws to a close, Héréditaire ends shadowed in doubt for the future. “Bathed in lies / Can we make it better” she wonders before disappearing into the shivering wake left by “Maladie de ‘Esprit”.

“This album is not meant to resolve”, the band says, “but to dissolve patterns from those who came before, faceless yet familiar. The colors have drained. What remains is veiled in black, not as a symbol, but as a truth that covers everything”.

On Héréditaire, Unverkalt lift the veil on our cursed existence with their heaviest and most heartfelt offering.

NITE Selected by Bandcamp for Heavy Music Club

Since 2018, NITE have proudly carried the torch for Bay Area metal. But the San Francisco natives are catching fire behind their white-hot new album. Cult of the Serpent Sun was named one of the best albums of 2025 by Decibel, New Noise, Invisible Oranges and other major publications, as well as Nate Garrett from Spirit Adrift. Now, as they prepare to ignite Inferno Festival, the blackened heavy metal band are celebrating the one-year anniversary of their latest critically-acclaimed LP with Bandcamp.

Today, NITE are thrilled to announce that Cult of the Serpent Sun was selected as February’s record of the month by Bandcamp’s heavy metal club. Curated by veteran metal writer J. Bennett, The Hard Stuff spotlights notable releases from across the world of heavy music.

"As 2026 gets underway, we here at The Hard Stuff would like to spotlight one more of our personal favorites from last year”, Bennett says. “Cult of the Serpent Sun sees the San Francisco-based NITE sharpening their melodic brand of blackened heavy metal into something undeniable. They’ve taken the strongest elements of their two previous records and distilled them into an all-killer, no-filler collection of songs steeped in traditional heavy metal, black metal and rock ‘n’ roll. Don’t blow it!”

“We are excited to be featured on this month's The Hard Stuff”, NITE vocalist and guitarist Van Labrakis says. “We are very proud of what we did in Cult of the Serpent Sun. It's a solid heavy metal album. We are glad that more people will discover it through this feature”.

Subscribers to The Hard Stuff receive a high-quality digital download of Cult of the Serpent Sun, plus an exclusive interview with NITE and a subscribers-only listening party where they can chat with the band.

NITE's classic weaponry shows no signs of rust on their third album. "The Last Blade" draws first blood amidst an acoustic flurry before thrusting onto the offensive. "The aim here is not to replicate that era but to explore and evolve," Labrakis told Decibel when asked about the band's influences. Cult of the Serpent Sun honors the trailblazing spirits of old by honing what separates this band's particular alchemy from mere imitation brew. "The Mystic" expands their sonic palette, featuring a slow-burning bass line that stretches time and space into a hypnotic portal. With its whirling and enchanted melody, "Tarmut" glimmers like a desert mirage.

"We play a traditional style of heavy metal, but the blackened element takes us in a different direction," Labrakis says. His road-hardened voice stands resolute in "Carry On," denouncing the perils of war. "Dream on and find who you are," he beckons on the album's triumphant closer "Winds of Sokar."

On Cult of the Serpent Sun, NITE guards the altar of blackened heavy metal with sharpened blades and axes raised.

Funeral Release Lyric Video for “Three Dead Men”

As their latest album, Gospel of Bones, continues to resonate, today, FUNERAL are sharing a new lyric video for “Three Dead Men”. This song is an autobiographical reflection by drummer and composer Anders Eek on the loss of three close friends within a seven year period, including former Funeral members Einar Fredriksen and Christian Loos.

Watch the video for "Three Dead Men” below:

Gospel of Bones is out now via Season of Mist.

Order & Stream: https://orcd.co/funeralgospelofbones

The vocals on “Three Dead Men” are performed by guest vocalist Espen Ingierd of Beyond Dawn, whose restrained and human delivery contrasts with the operatic approach heard elsewhere onGospel of Bones. The song’s slow tempos and dense arrangements favor atmosphere and emotional gravity over excess. It addresses grief as a lasting condition rather than a closed chapter, aligning closely with the album’s broader focus on lived experience, endurance and emotional aftermath.

The new video for “Three Dead Men” uses symbolic imagery centered on movement, stillness and isolated physical gestures to convey memory, absence and vulnerability. Rather than offering narrative resolution, its closing moments suggest continuation, with emotional weight remaining present as life moves forward.

Roughly 20 tracks were composed throughout the Covid pandemic(9 of whom made it to the studio), and yet again recorded and mixed at Toproom Studio, by Børge Finstad.

Violinist Øyvind Rauset, from the cult Norwegian folk-rock band FOLQUE, is performing on 2 tracks as a guest musician, as well as Espen Ingierd, with his very distinct singing-style in the vein of John Lennon, Michael Gira (SWANS)etc from cult doom/death band BEYOND DAWN singing on 2 tracks.

The album also contains an instrumental cover song , written by Kjetil Selvik, and is a melancholic piece only consisting of harding fiddle and church organ.

The lyrical content of the album is an autobiography of life’s mishaps of drummer/composer  A. Eek, and deals with real darkness, misery, pain and loss.  A Gospel of Bones.

Green Carnation Announce Part II of A Dark Poem

Green Carnation have never been afraid of a challenge. Just last year, the Norwegian captains of progressive metal finally set sail on an epic three-part voyage that had eluded them for more than thirty years. The Shores of Melancholia washed onto year-end lists at PROG, Loudwire, Angry Metal Guy and other major publications. Now, after reaching crushing new highs during its opening chapter, the band are descending into deeper, darker and more personal depths with Part II of A Dark Poem.

Today, Green Carnation are announcing A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis by premiering the stirring new music video for the first part of its booming and bloodstained title track with Metal Injection. “Sanguis” fights to stay afloat amidst familial wreckage with clear conviction and a flawless chorus. Though whether those traumas stay buried won’t be revealed until the album comes out, when fans can hear the full nine-minute version of this song in all its grand gloom and doom.

“We wanted A Dark Poem to start off with guns blazing”, Green Carnation vocalist Kjetil Nordhus says in reference to Part I. “But for Part II, we have some very personal stories that we want people to hear. Sanguis invites listeners into our darkest inner rooms with some of the most raw and vulnerable songs that we’ve ever written”.

A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis hold some of the most personal lyrics that I’ve ever written”, says Stein Roger Sordal, the band’s bassist and primary lyricist. “The lyrics are so personal that I had to go many rounds with myself over whether or not to tone them down. In the end, I chose to keep them as honest as possible”.

Part II introduces more peaks and valleys into the trilogy’s overarching narrative. But if A Dark Poem contains a silver lining, it’s in the creative partnership that’s helped Green Carnation endure for more than three decades. "It would be different if I had only known Stein Roger for two months, but I know everything that has happened in his life for the last 30 years”, Nordhus says when explaining how he gives voice to the words of his lifelong friend. “It’s easy for me to understand and relate to all of his struggles, all of his pleasures and joys, because I’ve been a part of them as well”.

The video for “Sanguis" (Blood Ties)” was directed and edited by Rikard Amodei.

Eihwar Summon Norse Goddess on "Freya's Calling"

Hot off a year of electrifying performances at Wacken Open Air, Midgardsblot and dates with The Hu, Eihwar are back to pull the world deeper into their Viking War Trance with Hugrheim.

Today, the cult sensation are announcing the second advanced single from Hugrheim. Rooted in the fantastical, playful cosmology that defines the project, “Freya’s Calling” channels the raw, ecstatic force of the Norse goddess of love, battle, fate and ancient magic. Driven by shamanic drums, trance-inducing chants and pulsating rhythms, the song captures a moment of ritual abandon where music becomes invocation and movement becomes communion. Shoes optional, self-control strongly discouraged.

Get ready for the wild electro Nordic folk of EIHWAR! These "Enfants Terribles" aren’t here for solemn atmospheres—their fierce and festive fantasy is made for raging Viking dancefloors. Backed by Season of Mist (home to Heilung and Danheim), Eihwar burst onto YouTube in 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. With millions of views and festival appearances at Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, and Midgardsblot at the Midgard Viking Center in Norway, they bring a new wave of pagan power shaking across Europe.

This second album from Eihwar describes the world from which these two pagan superheroes originate. It is "Hugrheim," the 10th hidden world of Yggdrasil in Eihwar's fantasy mythology. The two musicians explain:

Over the past few years, our souls have gradually taken over the bodies of two human musicians. Through incarnation, we lost much of our memories. All that remains are images, emotions, and fragments from our previous existence, mixed in with the thoughts and memories of our human hosts. In this new song, we evoke the memories that gradually come back to us: memories of Hugrheim, the tenth world of Yggdrasil, hidden and unknown to men. This world is shaped by the Hugr, the spirit. In this realm dwell the invisible forces of the soul and consciousness. When our vessels perish here and our incarnation ends, we will return to Hugrheim. Still, we hope to remain here as long as possible this time, because nowadays the beer is fucking good, the rockstar life is pretty damn cool, and dental anesthesia actually exists.

Bizarrekult Fights for Control on New Single "Avmakt"

In keeping with black metal’s fiercely individual spirit, Bizarrekultbegan its journey in Norway as a lone wolf. Much like the previous two retreats into the studio from lone mastermind Roman V., his upcoming third album emerged slowly and painstakingly from a deeply personal crisis. But the post-black metal luminary continues to expand his tortured vision by not breaking so much as bending with the genre’s storied traditions. On Alt Som Finnes, he confronts all there is with devastating clarity.

Today, Bizarrekult is releasing the third and final advanced single from Alt Som Finnes (All There Is). Caught between blistering rage and shadowy despair, “Avmakt” (Powerlessness) fights for control against the powers that be.

This song deals with feeling like you have no control”, Roman says. “We carry on as bystanders, powerless over the direction of our lives”.

No one emerges unscathed from Alt Som Finnes. But while riddled with regrets, album closer “Tomhet” breaks new ground as the first Bizarrekult song sung in English. “Am I alone like this? No, we are many”. It’s a damning realization, but also a call for all of us to become something greater.

The Polish collective are celebrating the release of Monochrome with a new video for the album’s third single. Slinking and pulsating, “Going Down” enters into a trance where descent isn’t a collapse but a passage toward resolve.

“This song is a hymn to strength, perseverance and unyielding will”, HÉR says.

HÉR Premiere Debut Album 'Monochrome'

HÉR are seekers and storytellers. Their debut album, Monochrome, reflects polar extremes: fire and ice, violence and tenderness, bravery and care, the brutality of war and the solace that’s brought by peace.

“Throughout Monochrome, HÉR move freely between free jazz, folk, world music and deep Nordic-rooted atmospheres, without losing coherence”, Metal Epidemic writes in a 4/5 review.

“It’s as if Steve Von Till decided to score the Poetic Edda”, Jon Barbas writes for Heavy Metal Philosophy.

Monochrome comes out tomorrow, Friday, January 30, but you can hear all seven stirring songs today by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Monochrome balances restraint with intensity. Throat singing, bowed strings, percussion and subtle electronics intertwine to form an album that feels both ancient and immediate. “Chant” opens with amidst a meditative expanse before moving into the spirit of the Icelandic fjords on “Needles and Bark”, trance-like introspection on “Patience in Observation,” the grounded momentum of “Going Down,” and the fervent, almost hymn-like force of “Praise the Day.”

“HÉR — meaning ‘here’ in Icelandic — is more than a name; it is a call to presence” the band says. “We stand ‘here,’ united by rhythm, voice, and story, ready to bring the raw essence of the North to those who are willing to listen, feel, and be transformed. Sit here with us — sestu hérna — and witness what begins now.”

Cryptopsy Nominated for 2026 JUNO Award

While long enshrined amongst the hallowed halls of metal, after nearly three and a half decades, Cryptopsy are as insatiable as ever. After cracking year-end lists at Decibel, Metal Injection andBangerTV with their latest Billboard-shaking album, An Insatiable Violence, the most vile band in death metal were just crowned headliners of the longest-running heavy metal tour in North America. Now, as they continue to bang heads on their current European tour, the Canadian legends are proud to add another honor to their Hall of Fame career.

Today, Cryptopsy are announcing that An Insatiable Violence is nominated for a 2026 JUNO Award. This is the second time in the past two years that the band have received a nomination for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year. They previously won the award in 2024 for their eighth album, As Gomorrah Burns. This year, An Insatiable Violence is nominated alongside albums by Counterparts, Despised Icon, Silverstein and Unreqvited.

“We’re beyond proud to announce that our new album, An Insatiable Violence, has been nominated for a 2026 JUNO Award”, Cryptopsy says. “Winning the JUNO for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year in 2024 for As Gomorrah Burns was a huge milestone in our thirty-year career. We’re honored to stand alongside this year’s fellow nominees. They are all such talented bands, who put out incredible albums that are pushing the limits of heavy music in their own ways. Thank you to our fans, our teams and everyone who continues to support the chaos and craft of extreme metal. Let’s bring this home!”

Crippled Black Phoenix Announce Stark New Album 'Sceaduhelm'

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX are announcing their new album Sceaduhelm with a new video for its lead single “Ravenettes”. One of the first songs written for Sceaduhelm, “Ravenettes” establishes the album’s emotional framework. Built on repetition, restraint and controlled momentum, the song captures a state of psychological vigilance, where suppressed memories resurface without warning and avoidance proves brief.

Watch the music video for “Ravenettes” below:

Sceaduhelm comes out April 17th on Season of Mist.

“Ravenettes” frames trauma as cyclical rather than resolved, returning again and again as a glitch in the timeline. The song’s stripped-back construction and insistent rhythmic pulse mirror the sense of inevitability by favoring tension over release. Vocalist Belinda Kordic remains measured and urgent, carrying the song’s unease without exaggeration. Within the wider context of Sceaduhelm, “Ravenettes” introduces the album’s inward focus on endurance, emotional erosion, and the quiet violence of repetition, setting the foundation for what follows…

The official music video for “Ravenettes” was produced in collaboration with 9LITER FILMY, an audiovisual production collective, who are recognized for cinematic restraint and emphasis on mood-driven storytelling. Known for work that favors atmosphere, repetition and visual tension over linear narrative, 9LITER FILMY’s approach mirrors the song’s exploration of memory as disruption rather than closure.

Lyrically and thematically, Sceaduhelm is preoccupied with exhaustion as a condition rather than a moment, with time framed not as a healer but as an eroding force. Songs address burnout, grief, surveillance, institutional violence, and damaged intimacy, often blurring the line between the personal and the political. Musically, the album favours restraint over release, employing repetition, minimalism, and slow escalation to sustain tension without catharsis. Recorded across multiple locations and mixed with deliberate austerity, the record resists warmth, clarity serving discomfort rather than solace.

Within Crippled Black Phoenix’s wider catalogue, Sceaduhelm does not seek to resolve previous narratives or replicate past high points. Instead, it documents a moment of exposure and endurance, listening closely to what remains when spectacle fades and outrage exhausts itself. It stands as a severe, human record, concerned less with declaration than with persistence, and affirms once more the band’s refusal to stand still, soften its gaze, or offer easy answers.

Septicflesh Celebrate 15 Years of The Great Mass with Special Anniversary Reissue

Since the ‘90s, Septicflesh have elevated death metal to a fine art. Alongside their Athenian brothers-in-arms Rotting Christ and Nightfall, real-life flesh and blood Spiros and Christos Antoniou rose from the Greek underground alongside virtuoso shredder Sotiris Vayenas. After the trio re-communed with drummer Fotis Benardo at the Season of Mist table during the 2000s, the maestros set to work on composing their greatest masterpiece.

Today, Season of Mist is celebrating 15 years of The Great Mass by announcing a special anniversary reissue. Fans can now own this classic album on transparent red-and-black marbled vinyl. This new edition also includes a color poster and embroidered patch.

“The Great Mass has passed the test of time”, says Septicflesh guitarist and vocalist Sotiris Vayenas. “Songs such as ‘The Vampire from Nazareth’ and ‘Pyramid God’ are among the most successful in our repertoire. Now, it’s time to celebrate the album with the 15th anniversary edition courtesy of Season of Mist”.

The 15th anniversary edition of The Great Mass comes out March 20 on Season of Mist.

Cryptopsy Headlining 2026 Decibel Magazine Tour

After nearly three and a half decades of brutal technical supremacy, Cryptopsy are still insatiable. The most vile band in death metal finished off last year by cracking year-end lists at  Decibel, Metal Injection, BangerTV, No Clean Singing and other outlets with their latest Billboard-shaking album An Insatiable Violence. Now, as they continue to bang heads on their current European tour, the Canadian legends are proud to announce another new milestone in their Hall of Fame career.

Today, Cryptopsy are announcing that they are headlining The Decibel Magazine Tour in 2026. The band’s set during the tour’s deadly 13th run will celebrate both the coronation of An Insatiable Violence and the 30th anniversary of their Decibel Hall of Fame-inducted album None So Vile. Joining them for all 21 dates are Necrot, Fulci and Blood Monolith.

“We are honored to headline the 13th expedition of The Decibel Magazine Tour”, Cryptopsy’s vocalist Matt McGachy says. “Headlining the Decibel Tour while celebrating the 30th anniversary of None So Vile is surreal for us. That record changed everything, and getting to rip through our favorite songs from it every night - alongside a bunch of newer Cryptopsy tracks from An Insatiable Violence - feels like honoring where we came from while showing exactly where we are now. Cryptopsy recognize that not every death metal band sticks around long enough to win a Canadian Grammy 30 years into their career. The cover art for An Insatiable Violence was created by the late, great vocalist Martin Lacroix.  "The album artwork has got to be one of the most important things to us!”, the band says. “Martin Lacroix was one of our vocalists, one of our great friends and one of the nicest people that anyone could have the privilege to meet. We really wish he was here with us to share this moment. His perfect smile would say it all! Rest in peace brother".

With Cryptopsy’s latest career renaissance showing no signs of slowing down, the recent accolades are only the beginning. An Insatiable Violence reaches a new peak in a career loaded with them.

Your Inland Empire Confront Power and Collapse in New Video for “Edge of Perfection”

From the ashes of Crown, rises a dark new wave of industrial rock. As Your Inland Empire, the duo of Stéphane Azam and David Husser take the heavy electronics that they first donned on Crown’s last album a step further into dark industrial rock, where vulnerability and violence converge in a single breath.

Today, Your Inland Empire are releasing a new video for their searing single “Edge of Perfection”. Driven by industrial punk aggression and hypnotic repetition, the song cuts into themes of domination, dependency, and societal fracture, pushing the album’s dark night of the soul to its most exposed edge.

This is a song about power devouring humanity, about leaders who abandon their own people and push them into the margins” , saysYour Inland Empire vocalist Stéphane Azam. “It reflects the raw cruelty humans are capable of, how easily empathy collapses, how suffering becomes invisible. This song stands for those erased, forgotten, and left to rot at the edge of a world pretending to be perfect.

Your Inland Empire is out now via Season of Mist.

The accompanying video extends the song’s tension through a deliberate visual contrast. Spliced with the band’s performance filmed inside the Le Grillen venue in Colmar, France, are sequences of catastrophic and dystopian imagery. These opposing layers collide throughout the piece, framing the immediacy of human expression against the cold abstraction of mediated collapse. The result mirrors the song’s intent: individual bodies and voices pushed to the foreground while systems of power, erosion and indifference unfold relentlessly in the background.

A forecast for their impending album resonates with the echoes of an empire’s intimate fears and tenebrous hopes. The intricate fabric of Your Inland Empire waivers, promising a symphony drenched in the sweat of toil and the tears of artistic triumph. The orchestra of creation bellows, addressing the collective’s core, intricately showcasing their unique craftsmanship and unyielding drive.
