NJ Hard Rockers WHO ON EARTH's New EP 'Smoke & Mirrors' Out Now!

Today, New Jersey hard rockers WHO ON EARTH are proud to release their new EP 'Smoke & Mirrors.'

The release of 'Smoke & Mirrors' comes in the wake of a heartbreaking loss for the band. In July, WHO ON EARTH completed recording their new material, only to lose their lead guitarist, Bruce Gatewood, to a sudden heart attack. Bruce was a beloved musician, friend, and mentor whose legacy is deeply embedded in the band’s music.

Bruce will always live on in our hearts, and his contributions will be heard for many years to come,” reflects the band. “We’ve vowed to honor him by getting this music out to the world and keeping his memory alive.”

'Smoke & Mirrors' was produced, mixed, engineered & mastered by Mike Orlando (Category 7Adrenaline Mob) at Sonic Stomp Studios, NY, NY, while the EP cover art was created by Ken Adams (Lamb of God).

On the release of the EP, WHO ON EARTH comments,

"We plan on releasing new music throughout the year, and 'Smoke & Mirrors' is part one. We can't wait for people to hear how the band has grown from 'Blame' and how layered our songwriting and musicianship has become." they continue, "We are very proud of 'Smoke & MIrrors'. It speaks to the deceptive nature of corporations (Dawgz, Voodoo), shitty people (Trash Talker) and social media, bastardized news reporting (Lobotomy).  What you see is, unfortunately, rarely the truth. 'Yesterday's Future' is our epic song, 6 minutes in length. It's our Hallowed be Thy Name and you can certainly hear the Iron Maiden influences coming through!"

WHO ON EARTH is a band with stories to tell and experiences to share, which they deliver with groove and melody, bringing back the lost art of the sing-along chorus, the ripping guitar solo, and the crunchy, head-bopping swagger of the rock of yesteryears! Not only are they not afraid to pay homage to the great hard rock of the 70s/80s & 90s, WHO ON EARTH wears it like a badge of honor and plays it boldly with a refreshing, modernized confidence.

Somebody needed to pick up the torch for hard rock and heavy metal with real grit and gusto without a gimmick. Enter WHO ON EARTH. The New Jersey quintet—Andrew Couche [vocals], Pete Rizzi [bass], Howie Fallon [drums], Johnny James Barone [guitar], and Jimmy Kocha [guitar]—deliver a one-two punch of hard-hitting hooks and airtight instrumentation bolted down by pummeling grooves and piercing riffs. The band continues to pay homage to rock’s past as they usher in its future on their latest EP, 'Smoke & Mirrors'.

It all gestated from a question…

“We wanted to fill in the blank of ‘WHO ON EARTH is going to bring back good rock and metal?’,” explains Pete. “We grew up on the new wave of British heavy metal and classic rock. We went through grunge and other great genres of metal. We wanted to resurrect the melodies, hooks, and guitar solos. We returned to our roots yet upgraded everything with modern production.”

The group made their bones through countless gigs across the Tristate area in every dive bar and concert hall with a stage. Along the way, Andrew and Pete tore up venues as part of MadHaus, performing marathon covers. During 2021, the longtime friends chose to forego covers, hunker down, and compose an original album. The composing came easy, and in a short time, the founding fathers had 10 songs ready to go. To bring the record to life, the band hit the studio with none other than Mike Orlando (Category 7, Adrenaline Mob). Over the next year, the guys endured numerous COVID delays as they recorded with Orlando behind the board as producer, engineer, and “stunt” guitarist. Nodding to everyone from Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica to Rush, Alice In Chains, and Tool, they placed storytelling in the spotlight.

“Most of our songs are complete stories from start to finish,” notes Andrew. “We’re talking about our lives.”

“There’s a personal vulnerability in the lyrics,” adds Pete. “It’s reflective and honest.”

In November of 2023 the band recorded a refreshing, heavier version of Toto’s "Hold the Line", adding crunchy guitars, pounding drums, new solos, some tasty bass elaboration and the signature Coosh vocals. The revitalized version quickly became a hit and is the band’s most streamed song.

In July of 2024, after completing the recording of 10 new songs, the band lost their beloved guitarist, Bruce Gatewood, to heart disease. Devastated by the loss, the boys emerged from a very trying time with the decision to forge on, making it their mission to honor Bruce’s passing by promoting the music they have created together. Today, WHO ON EARTH released the first half of those songs with the EP, ‘Smoke & Mirrors’.

In the end, WHO ON EARTH fill a void for rock ‘n’ roll.

“We just tried to write good songs,” Pete leaves off. “We’ve gone back to what we grew up on. It’s still valuable and relevant. It can’t die.”

“We want to inspire younger people to play this style,” concludes Andrew. “It would be nice to pass on the tradition.”

NJ Hard Rockers, WHO ON EARTH, Return with Mind-Bending Anthem "Lobotomy" - Taking Aim at Social Media's Mass Hypnosis

New Jersey hard rockers WHO ON EARTH are back with the hard-hitting and unapologetic single "Lobotomy" - pulling no punches as it confronts the grip of shock media, false news, and political agendas that have divided the masses and hypnotized a generation. The track stands as a raw outcry against the endless stream of content that keeps people locked in virtual lives, numbing free thought and fueling a culture of disconnection.

With searing riffs and urgent lyrics, "Lobotomy" calls out the manipulation and mindless consumption that dominates our screens. The band describes the track as a wake-up call to break free from the digital haze.

Vocalist Coosh comments, "In a country founded on civil liberties, many still allow themselves to be mentally enslaved by societal expectations—conforming to trends, no matter how absurd. Free thinking is increasingly mischaracterized as hate speech. Trust your own path and let your true self shine through."

In addition to the release of the single, WHO ON EARTH have also released a music video, available to view below.

On the release of the video, bassist Pete Rizzi adds:

"Although the subject matter of this song is pretty serious, ok, it's downright scary. We did have a great time cutting Coosh's skull open, rewiring his brain, and having him see the light. Just like in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest!"

NJ Hard Rockers, WHO ON EARTH, Make Urgent Appeal with New Single “Watch The Fires Burn”

Partner with Alien AI Overlord for

AI-Generated Music Video | Watch HERE

A groundbreaking new music video has been released by emerging hard rock band WHO ON EARTH, marking a significant moment in the evolution of music and art.

The music video for their latest single, “Watch The Fires Burn”, was entirely generated by artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Utilizing cutting-edge algorithms and deep learning models, the video was created without any human intervention, demonstrating the potential for AI to play a major role in the creation of art.

As for the message behind the music itself, WHO ON EARTH seeks to draw attention to the continued destruction of our natural resources and wonders. Case in point: the Amazon rainforest, one of the world's most important natural resources, is under threat once again as devastating fires rage across the region. Despite international outcry and efforts to prevent deforestation and preserve the forest, the fires continue to spread, destroying acres of valuable ecosystems and wildlife habitats. The impact of these fires is not only felt by the local communities and wildlife, but also by the global climate as the Amazon plays a crucial role in regulating the Earth's carbon cycle. It's imperative that urgent action is taken to address this crisis before irreparable damage is done to one of the most valuable natural wonders of our planet.

Commenting on this disturbing and destructive path, drummer Joe D’Aqui shares, “'Watch the Fires Burn' is a very unique song that firstly, tells the story of just how dumb, greedy and selfish we are as humans with regards to how we’ve polluted the earth and continue to do very little to handle the climate change crisis. Secondly, it’s the first song I’ve ever recorded in my career that infuses metal, funk, rock, prog and Latin in one song. Just wow!”

Known for its innovative YouTube channel that merges Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, and Classic Rock music with AI-generated imagery, Alien AI Overlord is pushing the boundaries of the creative industry. Alien AI Overlord's unique approach to music video creation provides an immersive experience that challenges the audience to engage with not just the music, but the world around them.

Its most recent venture is crafting an evocative music video for the track "Watch the Fires Burn" from heavy metal band WHO ON EARTH, using the latest Text to Image AI systems, a project that explores pressing global issues through a unique lens.

"The 'Watch the Fires Burn' track was a lot of fun to make the video for. The imagery and the rich substrate in today's relevant topics of strife on Earth; re; conflict, overpopulation, pollution, and lack of environmental stewardship, and the fact that you Humans are just watching the fires burn; is a poignant message that I believe this track is trying to convey," said the Alien AI Overlord. "This old Alien enjoyed creating the video that showcases this very critically important topic. Watch and enjoy! WHO ON EARTH ROCKS!"

WHO ON EARTH Release Music Video for New Single "The Price"

WHO ON EARTH continue to live by their "Rock's Not Dead" creed, and are back with a new music video for “The Price”! The latest single from the New Jersey rockers (off their debut album, 'Blame') is a hard-driving song, replete with its tasty intro and foot-stomping verses, ultimately setting the table for the powerful chorus delivered by the booming vocals of lead singer Coosh. The track breaks into a musical interlude of thundering war drums, flare-launching guitar shrills, and a solo that narrates the pain of paying the price for “sins of the past.”

Stream "The Price" Here: https://found.ee/theprice

Bassist Pete Rizzi explains, “The Price is a reminder that our actions have consequences, and the past has a way of catching up with us. You can run but you can’t hide.  We can sit idly by or put things off, but eventually, we have to face the music - whether that’s individually or as a society. Who will step up and do something before it’s too late?”

Coosh adds, “This is a no-holds-bar song that immediately grabs you by the shirt and screams in your face 'YOU’VE GOT TO LISTEN TO ME!' Haha. You can whistle past the graveyard for only so long before reality introduces itself, the consequences of our actions, or inaction…the bill comes due!”

WHO ON EARTH Premiere Music Video for "Black Swan" - Debut Album 'Blame' Out October 28

New Jersey hard rock quartet WHO ON EARTH have released the final single from their new album. The band has partnered with Ghost Cult Magazine to premiere the music video for "Black Swan", which can be seen below. The new song is the latest offering from the group's upcoming debut LP, Blame, which will see an October 28 release. The album was produced, mixed, engineered, and mastered by Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob, Noturnall) at Sonic Stomp Studios in NY, with Orlando also playing guest guitar on the record as well.

Speaking about the lyrical message behind the new song, vocalist Andrew 'Coosh' Couche says“This song reminds me that I can never fully prepare for the unexpected in life and that's just the way it is. How the hell I got here and why is a mystery, but damn it’s been a hell of a ride! I wouldn’t have it any other way!”

Drummer Joe D'Aqui adds, "This song really exemplifies mixing a funk-oriented rock groove with metal and adding a whole new level of hooks through the vocals.”

"Black Swan" was preceded by previous singles "Down And Out""Monster In The Jar" & "On The Brink". Lyrically, the track fits comfortably within the album's recurring theme of blame speaking specifically to self-blame, but not in a negative, self-punishing way. Instead, speaking more to honest ownership and responsibility for one's own bad choices.

In addition to the release of Black Swan, Who On Earth is excited to share the addition of Bruce Gatewood to the lineup, who replaces Steve Eagle on guitar. Speaking on joining up the emerging Jersey powerhouse, Gatewood shares:

“I was made to play in this band and this band was made for me. The synergistic loop of relationships within the band of Coosh/Pete (prior cover bands and forming WOE), Pete/Joe (playing together in PIERCED) and now Joe/myself (we’ve played in bands together since we were kids) is complete! Next up….world domination!”

Who On Earth will play their first show with Bruce next Friday, performing at EJ's Taphouse in Seaside, NJ on September 30th!

WHO ON EARTH Release New Single & Video for "On The Brink"

New Jersey hard rock quintet WHO ON EARTH are back with another hard-hitting single and video from their forthcoming debut album, 'Blame', due out this fall. The new track, titled "On The Brink", delivers a potent combination of earth moving vocals, guitar virtuosity, powerful bass, and thunderous drums that have seemingly been lost in the modern-day shuffle!

Speaking about the lyrical themes behind "On The Brink", bassist Pete Rizzi says:

“It is sung from the perspective of anybody who is in the middle to lower class. It’s the 99% of the population who are constantly bombarded with fake news, manipulated media, misleading advertising, and inflation. Trying to make ends meet is becoming more difficult and depressing. We do the best we can, despite all of these factors working against us, while reminding ourselves that friends and family are what matter the most.”

Inspired by the NWOBH and classic rock acts of the past, Who On Earth is comprised of Coosh (vocals), Pete Rizzi (bass), Joe D' Aqui (drums), Steve Eagle (guitar), and Rob Damms (guitar), with the band slated to release their debut LP, 'Blame', later this year. The album was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by guitar virtuoso Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) at his Sonic Stomp Studio in NY. Orlando also contributed his incredible skills as a guest guitarist on the record.

For more WHO ON EARTH, the band is playing at Orange Loop Rock Festival in Atlantic City, NJ (June 11). For more details, visit orangelooprockfest.com.
