Transcontinental deathcore force Face Yourself have released their highly anticipated EP Fury via Sumerian Records, alongside the official music video for new single "Wet Dreams." The five-track collection represents the band's most mature and technically accomplished work to date, building on the foundation established by their breakthrough Martyr EP earlier this year. The Fury EP is the band's second EP released via Sumerian Records and showcases Face Yourself's evolution from deathcore upstarts to a force capable of weaving technical death metal complexity with their signature emotional brutality. Produced once again by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada), the EP captures a band hitting their stride both sonically and thematically, exploring anger through multiple lenses while maintaining the raw vulnerability that has connected with fans worldwide.

Speaking on the EP release, vocalist Yasmine Liverneaux shares:

"We are excited to release our new record Fury via Sumerian records, and produced by Joey Sturgis. We tried to bolster a more mature sound with the use of elevated musicianship, implementing more death metal sensibilities this time around.

"Fury showcases anger with a broader spectrum that includes fast technical riffs, melodically gloomy phrases, and more varied instrumentation throughout. This EP is a continuation of Martyr, as we wrote both EPs at the same period. The "Wet Dreams" music video serves as a visual representation of the EP's darker themes, while the track itself demonstrates the band's expanded sonic palette. From the crushing opener through the previously released singles "Fractures" and "Ov Agony," Fury delivers five distinct expressions of controlled chaos, each showcasing different facets of the band's evolved sound.

Following the EP release, Face Yourself will join Signs of the Swarm's North American tour this October, alongside Mental Cruelty, Ten56., and Carcosa. The Pretty Wild Announce New Album 'zero.point.genesis' out November 21 via Sumerian Records + Drop "PARADOX" Official Video

Rising metaphysical metalcore powerhouse The Pretty Wild have announced their debut album, 'zero.point.genesis' out November 21 via Sumerian Records. The forthcoming full-length includes previously released fan-favorite tracks "OMENS", "Button Eyes", "living ded", and the smash-hit "sLeepwALKeR" will be available as a physical bonus track. Altogether, the tracks have already amassed a staggering 20 million streams on Spotify alone and nearly 3.3 million views and counting on YouTube. I See Stars Release New Album 'THE WHEEL' & Drop New Music Video "carry on for you" via Sumerian Records

Electronic hardcore pioneers I See Stars have released their new album 'THE WHEEL' via Sumerian Records. The full-length is the band's latest body of music since their smash-hit 2016 album, 'Treehouse'. In celebration of the news, the quartet has released the official music video for the poignant track "carry on for you". Speaking about the album, the band shared:

"The last time we spent this much time on a record was our debut album, '3D'. 'The Wheel' is a time capsule capturing the past seven years of our lives. It’s a culmination of everything we’ve experienced individually, together, and as human beings navigating the chaos of the world. We truly poured everything into it & we are so excited to finally share it with our fans."

ABOUT I SEE STARS

Somehow, it’s been nearly a decade since the last I See Stars album. There have, however, been a few hints and glimpses of it over the past couple of years. In 2023, the electronicore pioneers released four songs: “Anomaly”, “Drift”, “are we 3ven” and “D4MAGE DONE”, while in 2024 they put out “SPLIT”. While all five songs do appear on this record, they only revealed a fraction of what the band—these days comprised of Brent Allen (guitar), Andrew Oliver (keyboards/programming), Devin Oliver (clean and unclean vocals) and Jeff Valentine (bass)—had in store. Because THE WHEEL, the band’s sixth full-length, is an album in the truest sense of the word, one designed to be listened to in full from beginning to end, and which truly immerses you in its world when you do. It’s the product of a lot of patience, a lot of care, a lot of time, some of which was by design, some of which was out of the band’s control. 

After releasing Treehouse in 2016 and then touring on it, I See Stars did actually start working on a new album, but when Covid hit, they scrapped pretty much all of it to instead sharpen their focus. There was, after all, nothing but time, so the band decided to spend it making a record that lived up to their own expectations and which fully matched their artistic vision.

“It gave us the opportunity to take a step back and really dive into what we wanted to actually dig in and write,” says Jeff. “Not that what was done before was bad, but this gave the four of us an opportunity to sit in a room with each other and just write.”

As such, THE WHEEL is a fully-formed living memory of both of those eras, and one that places the listener right there with the band. “It's really kind of a special piece,” continues Devin, “and you feel that in the journey when you're listening to the album front to back. You feel us swimming in the mystery of what life was doing and where it was taking us.”

Produced by David Bendeth, and mostly mixed by Zakk Cervini—though Tom Norris also worked on a couple of tracks—THE WHEEL took on a life of its own when the band started making it. The album begins with “Spin It”, which is simply the sound of a wheel being spun. It’s not just for aesthetic purposes, though. In the studio each day, the band would spin a web-based digital wheel to determine which song they would work on, but it was also a way to add some levity to the creative process. 

“We would throw all the songs onto this website wheel,” remembers Andrew, “as well as some dumb, totally not creative thing in there that would like sidetrack us—but purposefully. It was this comedic approach that we were taking every day, where whatever the wheel told us to do, we’d do. It had these zany sound effects, but also created this weird vibe where we were like ‘We've just got to trust fate here.’ We're all obsessed with fate and letting things happen as they might, so the sound effect was an obvious thing for us to include—and then it took shape into a much larger concept.”

“What I really loved about the wheel concept,” adds Devin, “was it wasn't our choice. It was our choice to leave it to chance, yes, but we trusted the universe to point us in the right direction by spinning the wheel. It started off as a joke, but turned into this thing that became really important for us.”

Beyond the idea of fate and purpose, there are some other complex and deeply personal themes on this record. The yearning, tragedy-laced “carry on for you”—undoubtedly one of the saddest, most beautiful songs on the record—was written after Devin and Andrew lost their uncle to pancreatic cancer, while a number of the other songs detail Devin’s struggle with a condition called intracranial hypertension that’s caused as a result of too much fluid in the brain.

“It made me very familiar with the hospital,” says Devin. “I was hospitalized for months on end and that lasted for about two years of my life. So a lot of this record is about that. I don't deal with the chronic pain that I had from that anymore, and some would say the condition is in remission, but it's really hard for me to listen to some of these songs—truly—because there were a lot of moments writing this record where I didn't want to be alive. That's really hard for me to admit, because I'm not that person who talks about this stuff openly. I talk about it through our music—my traumas come out through my artistic expression. So listening to the record really gets emotional for me, because I'm not in the same place I once was. I'm super grateful to not be in all that pain.”

It all combines to make a record that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, as vulnerable as it is powerful, and as pure as anything I See Stars have made in their almost two-decade long career. After a long time in stasis, it’s clear to hear just how rejuvenated and refreshed they are, even as final track “Curtain Call” speeds off into the distance. That song is, as Devin calls it, “a wheel of emotion”, and ends with a question (well, two) repeated over and over again: ‘Will you ever love? Will you ever love me?’ “'Curtain Call' is tapping on every fucking thing we talked about on the whole record in one song,” says Devin. “It's almost like the wheel spinning in song form—it keeps turning round and is just racing through time and emotions. And the question we ask at the end of the song has a lot to do with the band. Will I ever be enough as an artist? Will the fans ever see us for everything we've put into this, which essentially at this point is our entire lives?”

Even just one listen to this record and it’s pretty clear that the answer to both those questions is a resounding yes.

KITTIE Announce Spit XXV EP; Celebrating 25th Anniversary of Landmark Debut Album

Canadian heavy music pioneers Kittie mark a quarter-century milestone with the announcement of Spit XXV, a four-track EP celebrating the 25th anniversary of their gold-certified debut album. The collection features freshly updated and re-recorded versions of four of the albums biggest tracks, "Brackish," "Charlotte," "Do You Think I'm A Whore" and the title track "Spit ," all produced, once again, by Garth Richardson who helmed the original 1999 sessions at EMAC Studios. The EP arrives September 19th via Sumerian Records, with the brand new version of the title track, "Spit XXV" available today across all streaming platforms. Speaking about the milestone project, Kittie vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander reflects: 

"It's hard to believe that 25 years after its release, and almost 30 years since Kittie began, people are still talking about Spit. Released January 11, 2000, Kittie's debut full-length album, Spit transformed them from four Canadian teenagers into international heavyweights, achieving gold certification with over 660,000 US sales. The album became a defining moment for women in heavy music, with its aggressive sound and uncompromising attitude proving that metal made by women could achieve both critical respect and commercial success during nu-metal's completely male-dominated peak era.

The original Spit earned critical recognition from Rolling Stone, who ranked the title track #82 on their "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time" in 2023. The album's influence continues rippling through generations of musicians, with artists like Serena Cherry of Svalbard crediting it as "the reason she became a metal musician," while experimental artist Poppy covered the title track in 2023.

The Spit XXV EP arrives as Kittie continues their triumphant second chapter following 2024's critically acclaimed comeback album Fire, their first new material in 13 years. The album reached #13 on UK Rock & Metal Albums charts and #20 on Billboard Top Album Sales, while single "We Are Shadows" became the band's highest-charting song on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart at #20. The album earned the band a 2025 Juno Award nomination for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year, confirming their continued artistic evolution.

The Pretty Wild Unleash Latest Track "living ded" + Official Video (via Sumerian Records)

Rising metaphysical metalcore powerhouse The Pretty Wild have unleashed their new track "living ded" and the accompanying official video (via Sumerian Records). Prior to today, the band released the official music video for "sLeepwALKeR", which climbed the TikTok Viral Music Charts to #43 with 22.6k organic creations on the platform. The sister duo next shared "Button Eyes" which continues to climb the ranks at Active Rock radio. Most recently, The Pretty Wild dropped their banger "OMENS" and official music video. Altogether, the tracks have clocked over 15 million streams on Spotify alone and nearly 2 million views on YouTube. Speaking about today's release, the band shared:

"'Living ded' is about reclaiming power through an intense and seemingly unbeatable struggle. When you’re dragged to your darkest depths, almost into existential collapse, and you find yourself suspended in this kind of weird liminal space. Some choose to stay there, but others self-realize the suffering, refuse to disappear, and choose to rise again as something new raw, almost ghostly or unkillable. Speaking on their latest release, Within Destruction share:

"The song’s animated video delves into the heartbreaking journey of losing someone deeply cherished and the emotional turmoil that follows. It begins with a raw expression of grief and loss of purpose in one’s life, consequently, the protagonist's color palette is darker in the intro. As the song unfolds, it moves through various stages of mourning—loneliness, longing, sadness and the haunting feeling of absence i.e. feeling in-complete. There are also moments of reflection, where the protagonist recalls fond memories, trying to hold on to the love that once was, but slowly realizing that they must let go in order to move on. The video also touches on the feelings of helplessness, questioning if there was more that could have been done. As the song progresses, a sense of acceptance begins to emerge. The protagonist starts to understand that healing isn't linear, and that while the pain may never completely fade, it's possible to find peace in the midst of loss. The song closes on a bittersweet note, suggesting that while the person may no longer be physically present, their memory will continue to live on, offering a sense of solace. The protagonist's color palette becomes vibrant towards the outro, suggesting a sense of resolve to their former "in-complete" self.

While the lyrics and video depict the loss of a loved one, they are also meant to be interpreted in a more general sense: "To truly live is to embrace the full spectrum of life, knowing that even pain has its place in shaping who we are and without sadness, joy loses its depth and without hardship, triumph feels hollow."

The countdown is on for the theatrical and official soundtrack release of Queen Of The Ring, arriving in theaters and streaming platforms this Friday, March 7, 2025. In anticipation for the big day, Sumerian Records is pleased to release an emotionally gripping cover of Metallica's "The Unforgiven" by Kittie, The Pretty Wild, and Diamante from the soundtrack for the hotly-anticipated biopic. Queen Of The Ring chronicles the trailblazing journey of wrestling icon Mildred Burke, written and directed by Ash Avildsen and starring Emily Bett Rickards.

‘Queen of the Ring,’ written and directed by Ash Avildsen, brings to life the untold story of wrestling legend Mildred Burke, who shattered barriers in the 1930s–1950s to become the first million-dollar female athlete and headline arenas over male competitors in a time when women’s wrestling was outright banned across much of the U.S.

Sumerian Records Announce 'American Psycho' Comic Series Soundtrack Out October 25

Sumerian Records have today announced the upcoming full release of the 'American Psycho' Comic Series Soundtrack as well as the hardback graphic novel out on Friday, October 25. The soundtrack is available for pre-order now at the link HERE, and vinyl will be available for purchase at the Sumerian Records Merch Store on release day.

The 'American Psycho' comic book series by Sumerian Comics is a bold reimagining of Patrick Bateman’s notorious saga. The five-issue series delves into a dual storyline format; one tracing the chilling exploits of Bateman, and the other introducing a contemporary narrative featuring Charlene Carruthers—a social media-savvy millennial whose descent into violence mirrors the chilling escalation of her predecessor.
