ONSLAUGHT - History-Packed 2CD/LP 'Origins Of Aggression' Out Now; Video For "Thermonuclear Devastation Of The Planet Earth [2025 Version]" Launched

English thrash metal legends ONSLAUGHT return in full force with their blistering new release, Origins Of Aggression, out now via Reigning Phoenix Music. Leading the charge is the newly recorded version of "Thermonuclear Devastation Of The Planet Earth" - a scorched-earth anthem packed with apocalyptic riffage. First appearing on the band’s debut album Power From Hell, released in 1985, the track has been re-recorded for Origins Of Aggression to mark the 40th anniversary of ONSLAUGHT’s explosive entry into the metal scene. Four decades later, its message feels just as urgent and relevant as it did back then - if not more so.

Watch the new lyric video below:

Nige Rockett comments: “‘Thermo...’ is the very first song myself and Paul Hill ever wrote for ONSLAUGHT when we formed the band in 1982 and it’s still a very important / integral part of the live show right up to this day as it never fails to induce complete chaos within the crowds. One real highlight I remember was performing it at the Katacombes [R.I.P.] venue in Montreal, Canada. I kid you not, every single person in the venue turned the place into one awesome/brutal circle pit, it was absolutely insane. We still get one massive buzz playing this song live, it has such an incredible energy and a very cool back story to go with it…!”

Origins Of Aggression is a 22-track double album that dives deep into ONSLAUGHT’s history, delivering fierce new takes on early classics alongside covers of key influences such as MOTÖRHEAD, DEAD KENNEDYS, and DISCHARGE. To support the release, ONSLAUGHT will hit the road again next week as part of a global tour, with confirmed dates across Europe, the UK, Mexico, and Australia.

Out Friday from ONSLAUGHT!

There is no doubt that ONSLAUGHT are the undisputed kings of UK Thrash and one of the original pioneers of the Thrash Metal genre in general. Having issued seven studio albums and two live albums to date, ONSLAUGHT were originally formed in 1982 by songwriter/guitarist Nige Rockett and Paul Hill.

The band rapidly established themselves globally with a series of classic album releases in the 1980s: Power From Hell (1985), The Force (1986), and In Search of Sanity(1989).

Renowned for writing neck-breaking metal anthems such as “Power From Hell,” “Metal Forces,” “Killing Peace,” “66’Fucking’6,” and “Bow Down to the Clowns,” ONSLAUGHT’s songs still stand as ferocious, mosh-pit-inducing favourites across generations of dedicated metalheads—a true testament to the quality of music that ONSLAUGHT has consistently created throughout their long and illustrious career.

As an internationally recognized heavy metal powerhouse, ONSLAUGHT have played in over 70 countries across the globe—from Lebanon to Latvia, Argentina to China—appearing at the most prestigious festivals on the planet and headlining countless tours and shows worldwide.

Building a truly dedicated and loyal following since the band’s inception, fans were rewarded by seeing ONSLAUGHT inducted into the prestigious Metal Hall of Fame during their performance at the Maryland Death Fest in 2022—a fitting accolade for delivering over four decades of fury and aggression.

ONSLAUGHT have been honored to feature three world-class vocalists over the years, each playing their part in taking the band to new levels of popularity. There was, of course, Sy Keeler, featured on The Force (1986), Killing Peace (2007), Sounds of Violence (2011), and VI (2013), and the legendary Steve Grimmett, whose iconic vocals graced the 1989 release In Search of Sanity. Currently, Dave Garnett brings a whole new level of energy and brutality to the band's sound, receiving huge plaudits for his performance on the critically acclaimed 2020 album, Generation Antichrist.

As the band's ubiquitous guitarist and founding member, Nige Rockett serves as the undeniably brutal riffing machine—vowing to make each new ONSLAUGHT record sound more violent and relentless than the last. The band's longstanding bastion of bass, Jeff Williams, with his distinctive, thunderous low-end, pulls the entire wall of sound together, laying down a solid foundation alongside the dynamic and incendiary drumming of James Perry. James joined ONSLAUGHT in 2018, the same year that lead guitarist Wayne Dorman came on board. Their addition brought a wave of new energy and intensity to the band, giving ONSLAUGHT complete freedom to create extreme music like never before. This was evident on the band's 2020 release, Generation Antichrist, arguably ONSLAUGHT's most successful album to date—charting high in all major territories and reaching #1 on the US Indie/College charts.

In 2024, ONSLAUGHT signed a new long-term recording contract with metal giants Reigning Phoenix Music, seeking a fresh challenge with a partner that shares the same drive and ambition as the band.

The first release under RPM will be a very special double album to celebrate the inception of the band and the 40th anniversary of ONSLAUGHT's debut album, Power From Hell.

Titled Origins of Aggression, the release will contain 22 tracks in total across a double album format. Disc 1 features re-recordings of the most important ONSLAUGHT tracks from the early years, while Disc 2 consists of punk and metal cover versions that shaped ONSLAUGHT into the band they are today—songs that were jammed at rehearsals and tracks that inspired the band to pick up an instrument and play. It’s a fascinating sonic journey that tells the story of how the band came into existence.

As ONSLAUGHT approach yet another year of thrash metal history-making, the band is gearing up for the 2025 World Tour to promote Origins of Aggression and celebrate this landmark anniversary.

This is a very exciting new chapter for everyone in the ONSLAUGHT camp—with more news, more releases, more tours, and more important shows to come.

See you in the pit!

DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG Release New Single "Time To Listen"

With “It Takes Six To Rock!” - the core message of their enthusiastically received latest single- still echoing in everyone’s heads, DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG strike again. Only one month after "It Takes Two To Tango," they’ve shortened the wait for their upcoming album Babylon, set for release in October 2025 on Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). The second new track, "Time To Listen," cranks up the anticipation even more and delivers another high-energy preview of what fans can look forward to.

The band describes the song as follows: “‘Time To Listen’ is an up-tempo song that once again shines with DATOG’s typically diversified lead vocals. A soaring guitar riff paves the way for a powerful Udo performance, accompanied by Peter’s harmony vocals and continues with Manuela’s sustained two-part vocals. The chorus, with its convincing power casts a spell over everyone. Here also, Mathias’ guitar solo is a marvel of ingenuity that ignores all convention and whips through the musical realms in an unconventional manner. The compact and powerful ending is just as uncompromising as the beginning of the song.”

With "Time To Listen," DATOG once again highlight their unique identity and their commitment to making bold musical statements - energetic, authentic, and with a signature sound that’s instantly recognisable.

It’s time to listen - and time to rock!

GOTTHARD Release "Burning Bridges" Music Video In Celebration Of 'Stereo Crush'” Chart Success

Looking back on a more than 30-year long career, GOTTHARD still remain relevant: TV appearances at “Sing meinen Song - Das Schweizer Tauschkonzert,” all-embracing media presence around the globe, and especially their chart-storming new album Stereo Crush keep the band in the talks. After fans received the three previously released singles "Boom Boom," "Thunder & Lightning" and "Rusty Rose" with open arms, there seems to be yet another track on the album which has entered their hearts right away. Closing in on the mentioned tracks, most notably on streaming platforms, is "Burning Bridges," and that’s why GOTTHARD are even more pleased to present a music video for this evident new fan favourite today.

Vocalist Nic Maeder, who also wrote the song, comments: “This track is about the thrill of non-conformity and the moment you walk away from what’s expected of you: because freedom tastes better than approval. Don’t play it safe, move on and burn the bridge to a new world after crossing it. ‘Burning Bridges’ is dedicated to all those who don’t fit in - and don’t want to!”

Watch the video Below:

With their latest offering Stereo Crush, GOTTHARD reached the top of the official album chart for the 17th time (and for the 13th time in a row!) in their home country Switzerland.

Guitarist Leo Leoni states: “We’re absolutely thrilled! This is our 17th album hitting #1 in Switzerland! Trends fade, but rock never dies. Thanks to our fans, some of whom have been supporting is for over 30 years! Let’s keep on rocking!”

“This album has become so special because of YOU - our amazing fans who love our music! Your incredible support has once again taken us to the top of the charts. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!” adds Maeder.

The band’s Austrian (#7) and German (#11) fan bases also gave them plenty of reason to celebrate in recent days.

GOTTHARD will present Stereo Crush live on stage from May 20 on: Mainly leading them to Germany, Austria and - of course - Switzerland, but stops in Italy (Alcatraz, Milan), Sweden (Sweden Rock Festival, Sölvesborg), and Spain (Z! Modern Metal Supergroup CYHRA Release New Song "Mark Of My Sins"

Swedish melodic metal supergroup CYHRA (Featuring AMARANTHE Co-Founder Jake E. and current THE HALO EFFECT, KAMELOT, THE CROWN, and SUBURBAN TRIBE members) are continuing to take the metal world by storm with the release of their new digital single "Mark of My Sins". While the group is composed of legendary musicians, "Mark of My Sins" proves that Cyhra is no mere supergroup, but instead a band that produces music on par with anything they have previously released. A high bar, but one that they consistently meet. This is the sound of a band leveling up: Massive riffs, stadium-sized hooks, and a chorus that refuses to leave your head. Heavy, melodic, and packed with raw intensity, this song is built to be played loud.

Frontman Jake E comments, " 'Mark of My Sins’ is one of the most powerful songs we’ve ever written. It’s raw, intense, and full of emotion—everything we love about CYHRA. This track dives deep into the struggles we carry and the strength it takes to rise above them. We couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out, and we can’t wait for you all to hear it."

The song is accompanied by a powerful video directed by Patric Ullaeus who has produced videos for ARCH ENEMY, IN FLAMES and won a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen) for directing "The Serpentine Offering" by DIMMU BORGIR. A cinematic music video featuring the band navigating a tense, war-like conflict in an urban setting, where vocalist Jake E takes the lead in a quiet, determined struggle for control.

About CYHRA

As they approach their 10th anniversary next year, CYHRA have carved out a notable place in the metal scene since their founding in 2016 by Jake E (AMARANTHE Co-Founder) and Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). They were soon joined by drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT, Luca Turilli’s RHAPSODY), guitarist Euge Valovirta (SUBURBAN TRIBE), and bassist Peter Iwers (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). Their debut album Letters To Myself” was released in 2017 to glowing reviews, catapulting the group to global stages, crowned with a massive North American tour supporting SABATON and KREATOR.

Following Iwers’ departure, Valovirta also took over bass duties, and the band released their second album No Halos In Hell in 2019, which blended groovy metal with a poppy flair and featured the hit single "Out Of My Life," amassing about 11 million streams on Spotify. Their success continued with a European tour with BATTLE BEAST, UK dates alongside DELAIN, headline shows in select countries including Finland and Japan, and performances at major festivals like Masters of Rock, Bloodstock Open Air, Sabaton Open Air, and 70,000 Tons of Metal.

In 2020, guitarist Marcus Sunesson (RONNIE ATKINS, THE CROWN) joined, expanding the line-up. The pandemic pause allowed the band to craft their third album The Vertigo Trigger, released in 2023. The album’s tour brought them back to Finland to open for SMASH INTO PIECES and to headline shows in early 2024. Quietly beginning their fourth album, CYHRA ended the cycle with a Scandinavian tour with EVERGREY, leading into 2025 with two new singles "Superman." and "Skin From Bones".

PRIMAL FEAR Present "Far Away" Single & Music Video From New Album 'Domination'

Commanding, fierce, and & triumphing since 1997 - there’s no better way to describe Germany’s premier power metal band, PRIMAL FEAR. The band have just unveiled details about their upcoming album Domination, set to drop on September 5, 2025 via RPM. Pre-orders are now open in a variety of physical formats and digital options here: https://primalfear.rpm.link/dominationPR

To celebrate this announcement, the lead single "Far Away" has officially landed on streaming platforms worldwide. Packed with all the signature elements of a classic PRIMAL FEAR anthem - soaring melodies, thunderous drums and bass, and a blistering twin-guitar solo - the track also carries a powerful sense of yearning, brought to life by Ralf Scheepers’ unmistakable vocals. Filmed at Dennis Ward’s Kangaroo Studios in Karlsdorf-Neuthard, Germany, where the Domination recording sessions took place in late 2024, "Far Away" is also available now as a performance-style music video on YouTube.

Scheepers explains the meaning behind the single: “It’s an expression of faith and trust, no matter where or what. We all know this feeling of missing someone so much, not being able to see or hear him/her every day - especially as musicians whilst touring.”

Going strong for nearly three decades, the band founded and still led by Mat Sinner (bass, vocals) and Ralf Scheepers (vocals) have never let down their global fanbase. Relentless and constantly pushing their limits, PRIMAL FEAR ensure that no two albums ever sound the same. After Code Red [2023] hit some of the highest chart positions of their career, expectations for the next release were higher than ever. Now joined by gifted guitarist Thalìa Bellazecca and former touring drummer André Hilgers, the quintet were more than up for the challenge. And as Domination makes clear, no obstacle is too great for PRIMAL FEAR’s powerhouse songwriting trio - Sinner, Scheepers, and guitarist Magnus Karlsson, who also rejoins the band’s live line-up after several years away.

From the hard-hitting opener "The Hunter" and first single "Far Away," to the uplifting mid-tempo anthem "Tears Of Fire" and the epic ballad "Eden" - featuring a surprise guest appearance by AD INFINITUM’s Melissa Bonny - Domination delivers on all fronts. Add in neck-breakers like "Scream" and "Crossfire," and the reflective, string-and-piano-driven closer "A Tune I Won’t Forget," and it’s clear: PRIMAL FEAR aren’t here to reclaim the crown - they’re here to prove they’ve never left the throne of heavy/power metal royalty.

Domination was recorded in autumn 2024, produced by Mat Sinner and co-produced by Ralf Scheepers as well as Magnus Karlsson. Rounded off by multiple PRIMAL FEAR mixing/mastering engineer Jacob Hansen at his own studios in Denmark, the album artwork was designed by Death.Milk.Designs.

ONSLAUGHT Drop Ferocious New Version Of 1989’s "In Search Of Sanity"

After turning heads with their crushing rendition of MOTÖRHEAD’s "Iron Fist," UK thrash legends ONSLAUGHT return with the second single from their upcoming double-album Origins Of Aggression, which is due out on May 23, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music.

This time it’s personal. "In Search of Sanity," a re-recorded version of the band's 1989 title track, explodes back to life in 2025 with a vengeance. Packed with towering riffs, mind-blowing solos, and vocal lines sharper than ever, this modern take breathes new fire into a thrash anthem - while keeping its roots raw and intact.

Guitarist and founding member Nige Rockett opens up about the song’s return: “This new recording of the title track from the album of the same name has completely blown me away... It’s like night and day compared to the original version. It’s common knowledge that I’ve never been a huge fan of the album overall. Don’t get me wrong - I love the songs, but at the time it just wasn’t an ONSLAUGHT album in terms of the production, vibe, and everything else that surrounded this particular release. It’s always been my dream to re-record the whole album and to finally make it sound like a real ONSLAUGHT record - the way it should have sounded the first time around. Here it is...! Tons of aggression and anger, a real heavy thrash song with all the necessary components. I hope you dig the new lease of life this track now has, as much as we do!”

Ruthless touring schedules have seen the band sharing stages with the likes of DEVILDRIVER and SIX FEET UNDER, and attaining sets before crowds at festivals such as Bloodstock and Heaven and Hell. Their journey has taken INCITE tread across continents - far reaches around the globe from audiences in Russia and Australia, to festivals in South America.

The band's line-up is a testament to their success. Band founder and frontman Richie Cavalera, as the stepson of metal legend Max Cavalera, brought not just a legendary name, but a fresh, raw edge to his vocals that quickly became key to the band's signature sound. Members Lennon Lopez on drums and EL on bass have been instrumental in shaping the band's rhythmic backbone for over a decade. Now, in this next chapter, new guitarist Layne Richardson brings a dynamic and fresh input to both the creative process and live stage.

A formidable sonic force in the thrash metal scene, INCITE's fierce and unforgiving music not only continues to prevail but is elevated through their growth. INCITE will stop at nothing in striving to attain their most powerful version of themselves, and in Savage New Times they present a truly impressive and visceral sound. From the monumental pace of the album's aggressive opener "Lies" and the intense energizing rhythms of "Just a Rat" to the brutal groove driven "No Mercy No Forgiveness" and dark bloodthirsty title track, Savage New Times is a captivating display of power.

Opeth's fourteenth album was written by Åkerfeldt, with lyrics conferred with Klara Rönnqvist Fors (The Heard, ex-Crucified Barbara). ‘The Last Will & Testament’ was co-produced by Åkerfeldt and Stefan Boman (Ghost, The Hellacopters), engineered by Boman, Joe Jones (Killing Joke, Robert Plant), and Opeth, with Boman, Åkerfeldt, and the rest of Opeth mixing at Atlantis and Hammerthorpe Studios in Stockholm. The strings on ‘The Last Will & Testament’ were arranged by Åkerfeldt and returning prog friend Dave Stewart (Egg, Khan) and conducted by Stewart at Angel Studios in London. Not one to miss a beat, visual artist Travis Smith returns to the fold, crafting his 11th cover, a haunting "photograph" reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick's infamous "Overlook Hotel" photograph. Miles Showell (ABBA, Queen) also revisits mastering and vinyl lacquer cutting at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Åkerfeldt rolls out the red carpet for storied flautist and Jethro Tull main man Ian Anderson. Not only do Anderson's signature notes fly on "§4" and "§7", he narrates on "§1", "§2", "§4", and "§7". Joining Anderson, Europe's Joey Tempest lends a backing vocal hand on "§2”, while Åkerfeldt's youngest daughter, Mirjam Åkerfeldt, is the disembodied voice in "§1".

‘The Last Will & Testament ‘is gripping from start to finish, jaw-dropping inside and out, representing some of Opeth's finest material to date. Just as Opeth welcomed many into its distressed arms over the years, the Swedes again deliver on the promise that great music always tells a compelling story—this time with growls.

OPETH Streams Visualizers for Song, "§4 ," New Album 'The Last Will & Testament' Out Today

The wait is finally over and OPETH's highly anticipated 14th studio album, 'The Last Will & Testament,' is now available worldwide today, November 22, via Moderbolaget // Reigning Phoenix Music! To celebrate this release, the Swedish prog legends are now sharing a visualizer for the song "§4," which can be found below.

Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt comments on the track, "'§4' is an oddball song, just written by instinct. I'm not a clever guy when it comes to writing music. People call us 'thinking man's metal,' I think that's laughable. I listen to music from so many different genres, it's impossible to me to stick to one genre. I find the idea boring to try and belong somewhere, we're a bit all over the place, and I think this song shows our diversity. For '§4' I was inspired by something called 'twelve note music,' which I think is a classical term, where you're supposed to play twelve notes und you cannot repeat a note twice. I heard some of that music by classical pianists playing, and it sounds wicked, it sounds evil, it sounds really strange - so that inspired the initial guitar theme. There's a melodrome theme in the beginning, it just sounds odd, like it doesn't fit in, almost like a free-form jazz solo or something like that. But it quickly kind of lands in an almost traditional metal theme with a common response type death metal vocal that has a stereo double-tracked normal vocal response.

"I can't remember what happened during the writing process, but I reached a point where I just stopped and felt, 'ok, time for something strange!' We ended up with a flute solo by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, which was kind of an accident in a way, because I asked him to do a narration, not flute. As he was doing the spoken word bits, he asked me 'do you need a flute solo?' I was like, 'yes, please!‘, while I didn't really have a part for a flute solo! I had to shuffle through the songs quickly in my head before he would change his mind. I had him on the hook, of course I was gonna find a piece! So, he played almost like a common response type flute solo in '§4.'

"This is a great song with the ending piece being one of the more evil pieces of music I've written in a long time: it sounds really menacing, sick almost!“

After three decades of dazzling the world, Opeth have made their most daring creative leap yet. The Last Will & Testament is a progressive and dramatic triumph, and yet more proof that expecting the unexpected is the only way forward for fans of Sweden’s finest.

“It’s a restless record for me,” concludes Åkerfeldt. “It’s an explosion of ideas, which I like. It’s a bit shorter and snappier. But I definitely didn’t want to rehash anything. The only thing that has come back is some of those death metal screams, but the mindset is still much more forward looking. In typical Opeth fashion, it’s not a direct record that you understand and that you love or hate right away. It takes time and if you put that time into it, you might like it… or hate it! It feels like it was written on a whim. Which it was, in a way! I hear things on this album and think, where the fuck did that come from?”

Opeth vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt admits: "I love this record. I have to say it (write it). Maybe I’m proud even? There are some familiar ingredients in there I suppose. Most of our music has sprung from the same source, so I guess it’s not much of a shocker if it’s going to sound like 'us’. I’m a bit in awe of what we did with “The Last Will and Testament”. It feels like a dream. There is some 'coherence' and 'songwriting skills' I hope, but what do I know? I tend to favour the 'strange' over the 'obvious,' but I feel like I’m in the minority, and that’s fine. So…fair warning! Don’t expect an instant rush (as per usual), but if you do “get it” (have you got it yet?) right away, that’s ok too!"

'The Last Will & Testament' is a concept album set in the post-World War I era, unfolding the story of a wealthy, conservative patriarch whose last will and testament reveals shocking family secrets. The narrative weaves through the patriarch's confessions, the reactions of his twin children, and the mysterious presence of a polio-ridden girl who the family have taken care of. The album begins with the reading of the father's will in his mansion. Among those in attendance is a young girl, who, despite being an orphan and polio-ridden, has been raised by the family. Her presence at the will reading raises suspicions and questions among the twins.

Regarding the record's creation, Åkerfeldt adds: "This is the first record with Walt on drums. Seeing and hearing him record his bits was otherworldly and what went through my head was something like: How can a human being play this stuff? The older cats (myself, Mendez, Fred and Jocke) did our bits in due time. We did them well (I like to think) and the alcohol concentration in our blood was mostly quite low as the red light was on. We’re professionals, you see! Rockfield Studios treated us well and we love that place! Stefan Boman recorded and mixed it all (CAPTURED it on TAPE… kind of…). Miles Showell did the master at Abbey Road Studios and then we (myself and Stefan) took him for a curry in Covent Garden. Travis Smith has done this odd-masterpiece-artwork that put 'clothes' on the music. All in all, we hope we’ve put together a nice little morsel of information for you to nibble on when it’s raining out. Thank you for your time. Thank you for reading. Thank you for listening. Thank you for giving us a respectable past. I’ll thank you for our future in the actual future, OK?"
