Following the widespread acclaim of their 2024 full-length Skinwalker and the evocative successor Celestial earlier this year, which was praised by fans and media alike for its melancholic atmospheres, doom-laden heaviness and progressive depth, the band now pushes forward with a composition that feels both expansive and deeply personal. Mark Kelson (vocals, guitars) reveals: “Lament for the Hollow really come from a place of confronting that moment when everything you thought was solid - your identity, your direction - starts to fracture. I was exploring the idea of stripping away illusion, of recognising the voices and influences around you that aren’t real or honest, and having the strength to cut them off. Time is the ultimate truth-teller, eventually everything false gets washed away, whether you’re ready for it or not. The recurring imagery of waves and erasure ties into that cleansing force, but it’s not gentle— it’s destructive, almost violent. ‘Lament For The Hollow’ is about facing fear, selfdoubt, and betrayal, and what happens when people allow themselves to be consumed by emptiness or led astray. It’s both a warning and a kind of catharsis. In a way ‘Lament For The Hollow’ is an anthem for the disenchanted, disillusioned and disenfranchised.”

From "Fire Fire" emerge atmospheric synths, driving beats and highly melodic, intricate guitar leads. Francesco Cavalieri's charismatic vocal delivery brings the anthem to life. V.B.O.'s heavier influences manifest across the song with technical guitar riffs playfully set amongst the electronics. AMORPHIS Ignite Festival Flame With "The Lantern"

Finnish metal legends AMORPHIS have shared the official video for "The Lantern", a centerpiece of their critically discussed fifteenth studio album Borderland, out since September 2025 via RPM. Borderland marks a milestone in the band’s 35‑year evolution, blending melodic depth and dynamic storytelling with a refreshed creative spark borne from their first collaboration with producer Jacob Hansen.

Drawing its imagery from mythic currents and nocturnal wanderers, "The Lantern" captures the haunting journey along Tuonela’s black river.

With Sentinels of Shamash, MELECHESH enters a ceremonial descent into ancient law, fire, and cosmic vigilance. This EP does not simply revisit mythological themes. It inhabits them. Rooted in the solar authority of Shamash, god of truth and justice in Mesopotamian cosmology, the record burns with the tension between chaos and sacred order, between ruin and restoration, between mortal defiance and divine decree.

From its opening moments, Sentinels of Shamash unfolds like a sacred inscription carved into stone tablets beneath a bronze sun. The riffs arrive not as decoration but as proclamations. Rhythms move with ritual precision, evoking procession, invocation, and judgment. Each composition feels deliberate, architectural, constructed with the gravity of an ancient temple rising from desert sands. The vocals do not merely narrate. They command, intone, and summon, channeling a presence that watches from above with unwavering clarity.

The conceptual axis of the EP rests on vigilance. Shamash was not only a solar deity but the eternal witness, the eye that sees all deeds beneath daylight. In that spirit, the sentinels of the title stand as guardians of cosmic balance, positioned at the threshold where disorder threatens to consume structure. Across the EP, forgotten gods and fallen kings emerge from shadow, their legacies weighed against the scales of divine law. Fire becomes both destroyer and purifier. Judgment becomes both terror and restoration.

MELECHESH has long forged a sound that binds ancient Near Eastern mythology with extreme metal intensity, and here that fusion feels sharpened and distilled. Middle Eastern melodic inflections weave through commanding, down tuned riff architecture. The percussion carries a ritualistic cadence that feels older than the genre itself. The sonic landscape suggests wind across temple ruins, bronze weapons glinting in sunlight, and inscriptions etched in cuneiform that speak of decree and consequence. The band does not modernize myth for convenience. Instead, it allows myth to remain vast, severe, and unyielding.

What makes Sentinels of Shamash resonate is its refusal to treat antiquity as ornament. The EP positions ancient law as a living force, a reminder that civilizations rise and fall under the gaze of forces greater than themselves. In a world that often feels untethered from order, these songs confront the listener with the weight of accountability and the inevitability of reckoning. Yet within that severity lies restoration. Balance is not static but earned through trial, fire, and endurance.

About CYHRA
As they approach their 10th anniversary next year, CYHRA have carved out a notable place in the metal scene since their founding in 2016 by Jake E (AMARANTHE Co-Founder) and Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). They were soon joined by drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT, Luca Turilli’s RHAPSODY), guitarist Euge Valovirta (SUBURBAN TRIBE), and bassist Peter Iwers (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). Their debut album Letters To Myself” was released in 2017 to glowing reviews, catapulting the group to global stages, crowned with a massive North American tour supporting SABATON and KREATOR.

MELECHESH Unveil New Single “In Shadows, In Light” from Upcoming EP Sentinels of Shamash

International Mesopotamian metal pioneers MELECHESH have unveiled their new single, “In Shadows, In Light,” taken from the band’s forthcoming digital EP Sentinels Of Shamash, scheduled for release on April 10th via Reigning Phoenix Music.

“In Shadows, In Light” continues MELECHESH’s tradition of weaving esoteric philosophy, ancient symbolism, and relentless sonic power into a singular musical experience. The track explores hidden cosmic knowledge and the subtle forces shaping perception and reality.

Speaking about the song, the band comments:

“‘In Shadows, In Light’ explores cosmic knowledge hidden in plain sight — parallel dimensions, sacred geometry, and veiled currents of existence revealed only through perception. Drawing on esoteric and Kabalistic thought, the song moves between concealment and revelation.

Structured as a journey with shifting acts and moods, it unfolds through tension, release, and transformation. Each passage reveals another layer of vision, where shadow and illumination coexist, and the unseen becomes ‘felt’ rather than explained.”

Musically, the track embodies MELECHESH’s hallmark fusion of blackened thrash, Middle Eastern scales, and hypnotic rhythmic patterns, guiding listeners through an evolving sonic landscape that mirrors the song’s philosophical themes. From atmospheric passages to ferocious riffs, “In Shadows, In Light” reflects the band’s ongoing exploration of myth, mysticism, and consciousness.

“In Shadows, In Light” was produced by Ashmedi and co-produced by Rob Caggiano and Kristian “Kohle” Kohlmannslehner. Bass lines and backing vocals on “In Shadows, In Light” were recorded by Rob Caggiano, who also contributed rearrangements. Drums were performed by Nikitas Mandolas, with engineering and mixing and mastering by Kristian “Kohle” Kohlmannslehner, and engineering and tracking by Daniel Claar. 

Sentinels Of Shamash, stands as a ceremonial descent into ancient law, fire, and cosmic vigilance. Drawing from Mesopotamian myth and the solar judgment of Shamash, god of truth and justice, MELECHESH crafts an offering steeped in divine wrath and esoteric order. Each composition unfolds like a sacred inscription, invoking forgotten gods, fallen kings, and the eternal tension between chaos and balance.

After wrapping up a successful UK and European tour, musician, singer, and songwriter A.A. Serving as a powerful foretaste of the band’s upcoming studio album, the critically-acclaimed four-track release once again showcases the signature sound that has defined LEAVES’ EYES for more than two decades: sweeping orchestral arrangements, Nordic mythological storytelling and the striking vocal interplay between the soaring soprano of Elina Siirala and the unmistakable growls of band founder Alexander Krull. Combining cinematic symphonic metal grandeur with Viking metal intensity, Song Of Darkness expands the band’s epic sonic universe while continuing their tradition of blending melody, heaviness and atmosphere.

Recorded at Mastersound Studio under the production of Alexander Krull, the EP captures LEAVES’ EYES at a moment of artistic strength, balancing sweeping symphonic arrangements with an earthy, human pulse. Finnish power metal pioneers SONATA ARCTICA have unleashed a brand-new single titled “Freedom Concept.” The track arrives as a powerful statement in the band’s 30th anniversary year, followed by an extensive touring schedule, and delivers the melodic intensity and energy fans have come to expect.

“Freedom Concept” captures the signature blend of soaring melodies, driving rhythms and emotional depth that has defined SONATA ARCTICA for three decades. At the same time, the song explores a thoughtful and timely subject: the complex idea of freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.

Frontman Tony Kakko comments: ”Freedom Concept” , a song about understanding and misunderstanding the concept of freedom, often forgetting it comes paired with responsibility, and how what ever values and thoughts you may have are not automatically transferred to your offspring and how in most cases that’s an effin great thing…(breath in) has been sitting on my desk for a while and we figured this kind of melodic power metal blast we’re known of would be a good way to celebrate the 30th anniversary ”tourette” we’ve started at the end of January 2026 WHILST also working on our next studio album.
