Carnifex Drop "Licking Love From A Knife" - New Single and Video Out Now

Southern California deathcore titans CARNIFEX have released their new single, "Licking Love From A Knife". The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s forthcoming album, More Than Misery, arriving November 6th via Sumerian Records. Listen HERE and watch the official music video BELOW.

"Licking Love From A Knife" places one of the album’s most personal subjects at its center: surviving a toxic relationship. Across More Than Misery, vocalist Scott Ian Lewis writes from the perspective of someone who has come through the pain that has always shaped his lyrics. The new single brings that changed perspective into the fallout of a damaging relationship, speaking directly to those who know what it means to make it out. He shares

“Licking Love From A Knife is my favorite song on More Than Misery and a song that I hope speaks deeply to our fans that have survived toxic relationships.”

More Than Misery is built around survival. The title carries a deliberate double meaning, expressing the idea that a person’s life can be larger than the misery it contains. Earlier CARNIFEX records captured Scott Ian Lewis attempting to endure and process pain while he was still living inside it. On the new album, he looks back from the other side, carrying those experiences without allowing them to define the whole of his life.

Musically, CARNIFEX approached the record with their original 2005 instincts and the tools of 2026. Guitars take the lead, orchestration deepens their impact and every song was built with its live translation in mind. The album brings together the physical directness of first-wave deathcore, the band’s death-metal and black-metal foundations, the symphonic atmosphere of their later work and the stronger lead-guitar identity of the current lineup.

With no fixed delivery date dictating the sessions, CARNIFEX had more time to write, dismantle and rebuild the material than on any previous album. The record was tracked in Tennessee across approximately five to six weeks with Zach Householder of Whitechapel and mixed by Jeff Dunne.

More Than Misery is CARNIFEX’s first full-length album for Sumerian Records and follows the previously released singles "Roses & Rotting Corpses" and album title track, "More Than Misery".

More Than Misery will be released on November 6th via Sumerian Records. Pre-order HERE.

ABOUT CARNIFEX

Formed in Fallbrook, California, in 2005 by vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron, CARNIFEXemerged from the collision of death metal, black metal, metalcore and the physical energy of Southern California’s all-ages hardcore scene. Their early music helped establish the language of deathcore’s first wave, while nine studio albums and twenty-one years of relentless touring have made them one of the genre’s most durable forces.

Across albums including Dead in My Arms, Hell Chose Me, Die Without Hope, Slow Death, World War X and Necromanteum, CARNIFEX have expanded their sound through blackened atmosphere, symphonic scale and an increasingly prominent melodic and lead-guitar presence. Through deathcore’s initial rise, years of backlash and its current resurgence, the band have remained committed to the music they helped shape.

That durability is rooted in the way CARNIFEX operate. Scott Ian Lewis, Shawn Cameron, Cory Arford, Neal Tiemann and Fred Calderon function as five equal band members with two decades of friendship behind them. Their relationship with listeners has endured just as long, with fans and band members moving through adulthood together and repeatedly showing one another that neither side is alone.

On More Than Misery, CARNIFEX bring twenty-one years of hard-earned live instinct to a record written from the far side of survival, built to hit with the same force when they step onstage.

Caskets Announce New Album "Reflections" + Share "More Than Misery" Video — WATCH

CASKETS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM REFLECTIONS OUT AUGUST 11 VIA SHARPTONE RECORDS

Yorkshire melodic metallers Caskets have announced their new album, Reflections, out August 11 on SharpTone Records. To mark the announcement, the Leeds quintet has released a new single, "More Than Misery," featuring a guest appearance from The Word Alive's Telle Smith.

Watch the video below.

Pre-order Reflections here.

Speaking of the track, frontman Matt Flood says, "'More Than Misery' is written around the conflict of being hypnotically entranced by someone or something that in the end, you know will only lead to toxic habits or bad intentions. Everyone has felt this and been in this situation in one way or another throughout their life. It's about not wanting to be in this situation and feeling the struggle of bearing the weight of pressure it puts on your shoulders — how it can affect every other thing around you, from your mental health to the relationships you build around you."

"There is light at the end of the tunnel though," he states. "To even acknowledge the situation and build a foundation of support around you to come face to face with what it is that's holding you back. If you just take a step into the unknown, you'll see your life is more than just misery."

There's an art to looking back. For Caskets, it could have been easy to plough forwards regardless, riding the wave of success from their breakthrough debut Lost Souls (over 80 million streams to date), that opened tours up across the United States and mainland Europe, and secured appearances at landmark festivals Download and Slam Dunk. But having swapped the bedrooms that fostered album number one for countless hours on the road, reflecting on that journey and the decisions that led them down certain paths quickly became unavoidable.

If Lost Souls was primarily driven by vocalist Matt Flood's personal experiences, Reflections delivers a wider picture of Caskets as a whole, borne out of the usual interpersonal differences that all bands face at least once in their career. For some it marks the end, but for others, it fosters a collaborative environment that pushes the music well beyond what has come before.

The result reflects each individual member of Caskets, with Matt joined by guitarists Benji Wilson and Craig Robinson, bassist Chris McIntosh, and drummer James Lazenby. The record's more upbeat moments carry impactful melodies, upping the ante from Lost Souls with considered force, while the powerful ambient moments play out with real finesse.

In a step away from the singular retellings of Lost Souls, Dan Weller (Bury Tomorrow, Enter Shikari, Holding Absence) produced Reflections is a series of individual lessons, looking back at a specific moment in one of the band member's lives; a thought, feeling or events, and how that moment shaped the present.

"Reflections shows how much more we can get out of the band musically if we all put our heads together a bit more," Matt beams, positive about a record that not only showcases Caskets as a full entity but represents the impressive range of influences that have soundtracked the five piece's times on the road and in the studio, helping to rapidly expand their sound. "It's always about the music, that’s the whole point of being in a band," he concludes. "If we can fit as much into our sound but it still sounds like us, that's my lifelong goal with Caskets."
