About Gvllow

GVLLOW's sound is an eclectic tapestry woven from the rich influences of '80s new wave, SoCal punk rock, and the iconic beach sounds of legends like Dick Dale and The Beach Boys. Born and raised in the vibrant punk scene of Riverside, California, he began his musical journey playing drums and immersing himself in the local live music scene, absorbing the energy and ethos of acts like Dr. Know and TSOL.

After a stint as a DJ in the underground rap scene for artists like Ghostemane and Lil Peep, and touring with City Morgue, GVLLOW emerged with two solo albums that spotlight his diverse talents. Speaking on the release of his new track, Gvllow shares

"I wrote this song 4 years ago and titled it after a song my late best friend Zak had written in an old band we were in together. I always loved the title and after his passing, I thought it would be cool to name that title after this song I recorded late one night. The lyrics came from a place where I was feeling more alone than ever. I was sitting in my studio by myself and was feeling very low and alone, and saw a spider crawling across my wall spinning a web and i didn’t do a thing about it except watch the spider continue on, because it made me feel like at least I’m not completely alone..there’s a spider friend in the room with me and suddenly it sparked inspiration for the lyrics.

I always wanted to have this song remixed and remastered to give it the sound it sonically deserved and I’m proud to say I’ve finally made that dream come true"

Speaking on the release of his new track, Gvllow shares

"I wrote this song back in the beginning of 2023 when it was consistently cold every single day in Southern California. 

I was recording in a weird space that I had rented out for a little bit in between moving and it made me realize how much of a home body I am. I love being home, it was freezing outside, and I was having all kinds of weird dreams from melatonin and out came the lyrics for this instrumental I had written for weeks. Dreams about ghosts from my past, being too far away from home, and being cold everyday. Sometimes it takes me weeks to write lyrics to my songs but I've just learned to let them come to me, I don't force it anymore"

“This song was written about being in love with someone that ended up crushing my heart into a million pieces. As always, I write my music to be an outlet for my feelings and deal with them without hurting myself or the ones around me. I have become such a better version of myself since recording this song, but I wanted to capture the raw emotions of being vulnerable and facing the idea that it’s okay to feel, and it’s okay to be hurt, but it’s okay to dust yourself off and become the best version of yourself and grow from the pain."

"This song was written to honor all of the lost souls close to me. Gvllow was created as a coping mechanism to channel my emotions dealing with the constant death around me that took so many of my close friends and family. This song was written as an ode to those who lost their lives too soon, and to let them know i still hear them and think of them every day."

The 'Spiritwalker' EP was released in Spring of this year and saw GVLLOW's stylistic expansion into post-punk and 80s goth.
