Miranda Lambert Reveals Ella Langley as Duet Partner on "Snakeskin Boots" Ahead of 10/2 'Crisco' Release

Three-time GRAMMY winner Miranda Lambert is revealing another layer of Crisco, her highly anticipated album arriving Oct. 2 via MCA, with today’s announcement that fellow firebrand Ella Langley is the featured artist on “Snakeskin Boots,” the album’s opening track. The cinematic, retro-Western track will make its world premiere at Country radio on Oct. 2.

Built with the swagger of late-’60s cinematic Westerns and the attitude of Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang,” “Snakeskin Boots” opens Crisco with a larger-than-life story of a woman who knows exactly how to make her escape. Lambert and co-producer Jesse Frasure drew inspiration from the era’s dramatic, stylized soundscapes, creating a track that could soundtrack a Quentin Tarantino film as easily as it could fill a dance floor at Studio 54.

The collaboration with Langley brings an especially personal connection to the song. The two artists have developed a creative relationship over the past several years, with Lambert serving as an influential presence in Langley’s rapidly ascending career as a mentor, co-writer and co-producer. Their partnership has already earned recognition with Lambert recently receiving seven CMA Award nominations connected not only to her own artistry but also her contributions to Langley’s project. Lambert co-produced Langley’s acclaimed Dandelion project and joined Langley as a duet partner on album track “Butterfly Season.” This week, “Choosin’ Texas,” which Lambert co-wrote and co-produced, made history by becoming the longest-running No. 1 song by any artist or song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“We wrote ‘Snakeskin Boots’ with Ella in mind. She and I are kindred spirits, and when we were working on her album, I realized how many retro influences we share,” notes Lambert. “To me, this song is kind of Thelma and Louise if they didn’t drive off the cliff. It’s two badass women getting away with something, and she’s the perfect partner for that.”

“Snakeskin Boots” kicks off an album that finds Lambert embracing the musical history she loves while pushing it somewhere entirely her own. Across 12 tracks, Lambert celebrates the many worlds that have always existed within country music as it nods to the genre’s shared history with disco music. She explores heartbreak and hope, highways and honky-tonks, rhinestones and roller skates, creating a record that feels both timeless and refreshingly alive while embracing every side of the artist fans have come to love: the storyteller, the wanderer, the romantic, the troublemaker, the traditionalist and the dreamer.

Miranda Lambert Unveils Vintage Heartbreaker "Two Things Can Be True" Ahead of 10/2 'Crisco' Release

With Crisco named one of the most anticipated albums this fall by The New York Times, Vulture and more, Miranda Lambert continues to unveil the project already drawing attention for its retro sensibility and expansive take on country music via today’s release of “Two Things Can Be True.” Listen Below and pre-save/pre-order the album arriving Oct. 2 via MCA HERE.

A timeless heartbreak song wrapped in the lush, vintage-inspired sounds of classic country and sung in Lambert’s warm lower register, “Two Things Can Be True” finds her navigating the complicated space between knowing a love is slipping away and still holding on to it:

“‘Two Things Can Be True’ is probably my favorite song on the record right now,” Lambert shares. “There’s something about it that feels almost like singing a duet with the steel and strings, and it’s country through and through with an old-school Patsy Cline feeling. I love that it found its own little corner of the Crisco world.”

“Two Things Can Be True” joins the previously released title track plus “Sunset Marquis,” “Till The Going’s Gone” and GRAMMY-nominated duet “A Song To Sing” with Chris Stapleton in previewing the rich musical landscape Lambert and co-producer Jesse Frasure created on Crisco.

The song arrives during a landmark moment for Lambert as an artist, songwriter and producer, having received seven CMA Award nominations spanning those roles, including recognition for her work on Ella Langley’s history-making hit “Choosin’ Texas.” Lambert is a co-writer and co-producer on the song, which this week tied the all-time record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Miranda Lambert's CRISCO Arrives 10/2; "Till The Going's Gone" Available 6/26

Miranda Lambert has spent more than two decades building one of the most celebrated catalogs in country music by trusting her instincts. On her forthcoming album, Crisco, arriving October 2 via MCA, she does exactly that once again. From dance floors and dive bars to desert highways and kitchen-table conversations, Crisco celebrates the many worlds that have always existed within country music.

Produced by Lambert together with Jesse Frasure, Crisco is a vibrant, free-spirited collection that embraces every side of the artist fans have come to love: the storyteller, the wanderer, the romantic, the troublemaker, the traditionalist and the dreamer. Across 12 tracks, Lambert explores heartbreak and hope, highways and honky-tonks, rhinestones and reflection, creating a record that feels both timeless and refreshingly alive. Pre-order / pre-save HERE.

“I've always loved every corner of country music,” Lambert shares. “The heartbreak songs, the honky-tonk songs, the songs that make you think and the songs that make you dance. Making this record reminded me that those things don’t have to be separated. We followed the songs wherever they wanted to go, trusted our instincts and ended up with something that feels really fun and really honest to who I am.”

That spirit runs throughout Crisco. The album’s previously released title track nods to the long-shared connection between country music and the dance floor, while songs like “Whiskey Business,” “Cuttin’ Onions,” “Cowgirl Curtsy” and “Two Things Can Be True” showcase Lambert’s signature blend of wit, vulnerability and hard-earned wisdom.

Elsewhere, “Till The Going’s Gone” – arriving tomorrow, June 26, as a further preview of the album to come – captures the restless quest for freedom that has long defined her songwriting, while “To Everything” embraces uncertainty and adventure, “Sunset Marquis” drifts toward escapism and possibility and “Right Where We Left It” reflects on nostalgia and second chances.

From the mythic cowgirl energy of “Snakeskin Boots” to the timeless devotion of the Chris Stapleton duet “A Song To Sing” and Lambert’s take on Jim Croce’s “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song,” the album finds her honoring country music’s past while remaining open to wherever curiosity and inspiration might lead.

Written alongside a trusted circle of longtime collaborators including Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Waylon Payne, Aaron Raitiere, Josh Osborne and more, Crisco remains rooted in the storytelling and songwriting tradition that has defined Lambert’s career. The result is an album that serves not to redefine country music but to widen its lens, showcasing an artist reconnecting with and embracing the full spectrum of sounds, stories and influences that have always existed within it.

CDs & vinyls, including signed options, are available to pre-order now via MCA.com and MirandaLambert.com.

Miranda Lambert Slathers “Crisco” – ACM Awards Get Country & Disco’d

When it comes to music, Miranda Lambert isn’t playing. The fierce songwriter from Lindale, Texas has always leaned hard into Lone Star traditions, while moving what country music can be forward with a strong set of roots. Leave it to the woman who co-wrote and co-produced Ella Langley’s tsunami of a song “Choosin’ Texas” to return with music that takes a whole new spin on what dance hall cowboys can embrace with a strong sense of retro and a whole lot of fun.

Expanding on “A Song To Sing,” one of her two ACM Music Event of the Year nominations, Lambert takes the Chris Stapleton duet’s roller rink innocence – and deep dives into a pair of distinctive retro dancefloor sounds. Drawing on the good timing two steppery of “Urban Cowboy” and the sleek, disco urbanity of “Saturday Night Fever,” Lambert pioneers of a whole new sound with her first release with MCA, “Crisco.”

Literally, country and disco twisted together by luxurious strings and a melody that twirls around listeners. With lyrics that invoke in a real life way Starland Vocal Band’s “Afternoon Delight,” Glen Campbell’s “Southern Nights” and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream,” as well as outright name-checking Conway (Twitty), Loretta (Lynn) and the Seventies, one can’t help but feel brighter, lighter and ready to kick up their heels.

“We wanted something that feels familiar but also fresh, which is really hard to do,” Lambert enthuses. “We leaned into all the things I grew up loving about country music – Glen Campbell, Kenny and Dolly; very ’70s and ’80s. It’s a fun mix of all these sides of country music that I’ve never fully explored before, even down to using strings in a bigger way. I almost can’t believe I’ve made this many records without really going there, but it was magical to hear how much strings can transform a song.”

To really bring that recipe home, the song co-written with Aaron Raitiere, Jesse Frasure and Chill Fellacheck boasts a chorus that breaks it down:
Baby, we’ve been cooking with Crisco
Ain’t we mixin’ country and disco
Stir it around, give it a spin
        And it’s a rhinestone world we’re livin’ in…

Further paying homage to the era and the influences, Lambert will debut the ebullient confection at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards this Sunday, May 17, streaming live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Prime Video at 8 p.m. ET.

Beyond her pair of Music Event nods – the second for “Trailblazer” with Lainey Wilson and Reba McEntire – plus both Song and Visual Media of the Year with Stapleton, Lambert is nominated for Female Artist of the Year and for Song and Single as co-writer and co-producer of Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.” As a strong advocate for females, new artists and Texas, the 2022 Entertainer of the Year rides into the 2026 ACM Awards strong.

“There’s nothing that makes me happy like music,” Lambert says. “Going to Vegas, nominated with old friends, new friends and on my own, as an artist, but also a producer and writer, that makes me feel like we’re just getting started. With ‘Crisco,’ it’s gonna be a great time seeing where it’s all gonna go.”

MIRANDA LAMBERT GETS COOKING WITH “CRISCO”

Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert launches a bold new chapter on May 15 with the infectious new song, “Crisco,” marking the first release under her newly announced label partnership with MCA. Pre-save / pre-add HERE.

Blending classic country soul with a shimmering ‘70s disco glow, “Crisco” delivers a feel-good anthem driven by lush strings, jangly piano keys and an irresistible groove, with Lambert leaning into sonic textures she’s long admired yet never fully explored – until now.

“It has so many elements of the country music that I love that I’ve never put on tape,” she shares of the song co-written with Aaron Raitiere, Jesse Frasure and Chill Fellacheck. “There’s a looseness to it, a joy. It feels like dancing in your kitchen with the person you love, spinning old records, not overthinking a thing.”

Written with Lambert’s signature playful wink and anchored in vivid, nostalgic imagery, the song nods to timeless classics like “Southern Nights” and “Islands in the Stream,” bridging generations of country music while expanding its boundaries to carve out something entirely fresh.

As Variety declares, Lambert possesses a “groundedness in the classic sounds and attitudes of country music, which is one thing that has helped make her arguably the most valuable figure in the mainstream of the genre since the turn of the century.” With “Crisco,” she further expands her career that has long been defined by authenticity and evolution, opening the door to her next creative phase.
