Enter Borderland: AMORPHIS - 15th Studio Album Out Now via Reigning Phoenix Music

Borderland, the 15th studio album from Finnish metal visionaries AMORPHIS, is out now through Reigning Phoenix Music. Borderland represents a passage, a crossing into unexplored realms of sound and spirit. It’s the final call before AMORPHIS rise again on stage this autumn, a beacon for what lies ahead.

Borderland is not merely a name, but a threshold where past meets future, where myth bleeds into memory, and where music becomes both guide and guardian. With this record, AMORPHIS invite their listeners to step with them into a space at once familiar and untamed. Here, horizons shift, echoes resound, and new destinies are forged in sound.

The journey to Borderland began at Hansen Studios (Denmark) in late 2024 and early 2025, under the masterful production of Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, PRIMAL FEAR). The album’s striking artwork was created by renowned Dutch artist Marald Van Haasteren (METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH, KVELERTAK, ALCEST), while the ever-thoughtful lyricism of Pekka Kainulainen once again provides AMORPHIS’ music with a profound narrative depth.

Among the album’s highlights is the haunting focus track "Fog To Fog," a piece born of desolate landscapes and timeless echoes.

With Borderland, AMORPHIS cross yet another frontier in their sound, bridging myth and modernity, melody and heaviness, darkness and hope. It’s an album both monumental and intimate, inviting fans to follow them into landscapes where the only certainty is transformation.

About AMORPHIS
With Borderland, the title of the album couldn’t have been chosen more fittingly. Throughout their career, spanning over more than three decades, AMORPHIS -- Tomi Joutsen (vocals), Esa Holopainen (guitars), Tomi Koivusaari (guitars), Olli-Pekka Laine (bass), Santeri Kallio (keyboards) & Jan Rechberger (drums & percussion) -- have been an ever-evolving act, wandering on an exciting boundary-pushing path. From their sinister death metal debut Karelian Isthmus over genre-defining mid-90s melodic death works like Tales From The Thousand Lakes and Elegy as well as the melodic 2000’s grandeur of Eclipse or Skyforger to records combining the very best of all prior eras to refreshing new soundscapes (f.e. Under The Red Cloud or Queen Of Time): Whatever this group works on promises long-range success.

With 2022’s Halo, the Finn’s were rewarded for their researching musical approach once again: The album marked AMORPHIS’ sixth no. 1 album in Finland, even cracked the top 3 of the official German album chart, and last but not least the sextet took home two awards from the prestigious Emma Gaala (“Band of the Year” & “Export of the Year”).

The impact of Halo became a driving force for what’s to come. Rather than rushing into a follow-up, the band chose to step back from live performances and focus fully on their next chapter. The result is Borderland - a meticulously crafted opus that builds on their celebrated recent era, while seamlessly weaving in new, timely elements. It’s a bold, organic continuation of their journey, shaped by experience and guided by vision.

Out Now From Mors Principium Est

MORS PRINCIPIUM EST's long awaited ninth studio album, Darkness Invisible, is released via Perception, an imprint of Reigning Phoenix Music. The Finnish act return with their beloved melodic death embrace instilled with razor-sharp riffing, sweeping orchestration, melancholic harmonies, and relentless rhythmic precision - topped by Ville Viljanen’s unmistakable vocals.

Darkness Invisible saw MORS PRICIPIUM EST once again self-record at Ansa Studio (Ulvila, Finland); Jens Bogren mixed and Tony Lindgren mastered the ten new tracks (plus CD / digital bonus song) at Örebro, Sweden’s Fascination Street Studios (AMORPHIS, SEPULTURA, KREATOR etc.). Alvaro Valverde Fernandez was hired to create artwork and layout.

Darkness Invisible expands MPE's horizons while retaining the sonic quality that has seen the band gain such a steadfast appeal. Compelling arrangements convey greater cinematic soundscapes, ambient passages bring dynamic intrigue and textural layers provide, be it often subtle, enhancements of power.

"Of Death" introduces Darkness Invisible in a melodic glory. The enshrouding darkness traverses between delving into the depths and soaring with a majestic quality. "Monuments" is a highly thrilling offering that strikes a resonating chord through alluring progressions and captivating instrumental layers. The uplifting quality is inescapable, though the shadowy plains are not entirely left behind.

Orchestral strings build anticipation before the monster within "Beyond The Horizon" explodes into life. This high-octane onslaught of technical riffs perfectly satisfies any cravings for increased intensity. "In Sleep There Is Peace" charges forth at full pelt into deafening attacks of riffs and emotively charged melodic moments. The theatricality of "All Life is Evil" is revealed from the intricate textural details, to the Gothic choir chants and curiously inviting dissonance.

About MORS PRINCIPIUM EST
Over the course of seven original studio albums, MORS PRICIPIUM EST refined their modern approach to melodic death metal again and again. Members came and gone, but their music remained untouched: razor-sharp riffing, sweeping orchestration, melancholic harmonies, and relentless rhythmic precision - topped by Ville Viljanen’s unmistakable vocals.

MORS PRINCIPIUM EST were founded in Pori in 1999 and are one of the longest serving Finnish melodic death metal bands. With frontman Viljanen being the most stable members, the present quintet survived several line-up changes before original members and guitarists Jori Haukio and Jarkko Kokko returned to MPE and already took part in recording their latest offering Liberate The Unborn Inhumanity [2022]. Also contributing to these refreshing re-recordings from their early years were former bassist Teemu Heinola and drummer Marko Tommila. A statement to honour the group’s history and to celebrate the freshly motivated line-up, which is now set to blast out their ninth album titled Darkness Invisible on September 26, 2025 through new label home PERCEPTION.

MORS PRINCIPIUM EST are:
Ville Viljanen | vocals
Jori Haukio | guitars, programming
Jarkko Kokko | guitars

Whiskey Myers Strike with 'Whomp Whack Thunder'

Whiskey Myers has never cared for categories or boundaries, and with their seventh studio album Whomp Whack Thunder, hailed by Rolling Stone as “their most supercharged album yet” that “sounds on the whole like an invigorated, freewheeling rock band in its prime,” the multi-Platinum independent band delivers the sweat and soul that have defined their career. Available now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, listen below.

“I never said, ‘We are a rock band,’” explains frontman Cody Cannon. “We were just a band. Really, we’re a road band. We did it the old school way: played every bar, every night and cut our teeth. That’s a lot of experience and wisdom earned. It’s all we’ve ever done. It builds character, hones your skill and gets some grit on you.”

For the band from East Texas, success was built from concentric rings of local bars turning to bigger bars, longer runs and traveling further and further from home. The will to thrive wherever they could set up and play fueled an unstoppable group of friends, determined to see how far the ride could take them.

And since topping Billboard’s Country Albums, hitting No. 2 on Active Rock and No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, in addition to garnering 4.1+ billion global streams, over 2.7 million in sales and 9 RIAA Certifications, Whiskey Myers wanted a new, more robust way to do the things that set them on fire.

Having self-produced their last two records, the band enlisted GRAMMY-winning producer Jay Joyce, who provided a freedom to be in the moment, sparking off each other and not having to worry about anything except playing, singing and responding with what the songs required. Always a spontaneous group of players, Whomp Whack Thunder delivers a leaner, more boot to the kneecap immediacy.

“I don’t know how it happens,” guitarist John Jeffers confesses. “The emotions here are all different, but we really want people to feel all of it – and that’s rock and roll. People have forgotten what rock and roll is: blues-based, some country to it, but coming hard.”

The band will also perform a special pregame concert for Dallas Cowboys fans at the Miller Lite®House at AT&T Stadium this Sunday, September 28, at 4:50 p.m., just before the Cowboys take on the Packers. Doors to Miller Lite®House open at 3:00 p.m., and all fans with a game ticket are invited to attend. Please note, the concert is standing room only.

The What We Were Born To Do Tour continues tonight in Oklahoma City with dates through mid-October. At last night’s stop in Austin, Texas at Moody Amphitheater, fans were treated to onsite activations celebrating the release of Whomp Whack Thunder, adding to the already high energy of the night.

The band will also headline their own personally curated Moon Crush “Whiskey Moon” music vacation taking over Miramar Beach, Fla. Nov. 7-9 ahead of Whiskey Myers & Friends, bringing a special, stripped-back version of their multi-Platinum catalog to the Northeast this December.

About Whiskey Myers
Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played nearly 3,000 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show. The band is poised to begin their next chapter with their highly-anticipated seventh studio album Whomp Whack Thunder, available now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, with lead single “Time Bomb” climbing the Active Rock radio charts. Their previous project, Tornillo, featured the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and followed breakthrough album Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 2.7 million albums and amassed over 4.1 billion streams while earning nine RIAA Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned sync success with features in Paramount’s hit shows “Yellowstone” (including an on-screen performance) and “Landman,” plus Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team,” among others. USA Today describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

Out Today! - OVERT ENEMY - Insurrection

OVERT ENEMY returns with their most powerful and aggressive work to date, the new full-length album Insurrection, out now. The Mission, Texas-based band has carved a name for itself in the global metal scene by blending gnarly Texas groove with relentless twin guitar attacks and a triple vocal assault. With Insurrection, OVERT ENEMY has refined their sound, evolving into a band that draws on the energy of the past while pushing the boundaries of modern metal.

Insurrection didn’t come easy. Originally planned as an EP after the band’s 2019 release Possession, the global pandemic forced the band to pivot, transforming the project into a full-length album. Add to that the personal battles faced by the band members, from Leo “Lizard” Ortiz’s major back surgery to the struggle of keeping momentum during worldwide lockdowns, and you have an album born out of perseverance and pure passion. This is an album about resilience, rebellion, and the power of the riff—because, at its core, OVERT ENEMY is a riff band, driven by face-melting guitar solos, raw intensity, and unapologetic metal fury.

The band—composed of Leo Ortiz (guitar/vocals), Laura “Slayerella” Ortiz (bass/vocals), Robert Hahn (guitar/vocals), and Saul Castillo (drums)—takes the listener on a sonic journey across Insurrection. The album is anchored in thrash but refuses to be defined by any one style. From the devastating opening track "Resinated", which blends sinister grooves with epic overtones inspired by Leo's battles with chronic back pain, to the deeply conceptual "Eradication", part of a three-song narrative about alien invasion, the record pushes boundaries while staying true to the ethos of the genre.

For the band members, the making of Insurrection was as much about personal growth as it was about pushing the limits of their sound. “It’s surreal thinking about everything we went through to get this album made,” says Robert Hahn. "Leo could have died on the operating table, and that would have been it. But here we are, with an album that represents the best music we’ve ever created." The band's determination shines through every track, from the thrashy riffs of "Eradication" to the melodic complexities of "Bleed Like I Do", ensuring that no song sounds the same, and no topic is off-limits.

For OVERT ENEMY, Insurrection marks the culmination of years of hard work, personal sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to their craft. As Laura Ortiz puts it, “This album made me grow as a musician, and you can hear it in my playing and in my vocals. It challenged all of us, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved.” For drummer Saul Castillo, who transitioned from drum tech to full-time band member in a matter of months, the experience was equally rewarding.

In a world where fear and division seem to rule, OVERT ENEMY is not afraid to speak up, to push boundaries, and to deliver metal with a message. With Insurrection, they’ve created a record that is not only a musical triumph but a testament to their resilience as a band. Their story is far from over—this is only the beginning of the next chapter.

While thrash metal certainly runs through their veins, OVERT ENEMY refuses to be confined by genre. The release of Insurrection marks a new chapter for the band, as they delve into broader sonic landscapes and thematic complexity. The album reflects their growth both musically and personally, touching on themes ranging from personal struggle and mental health to global political unrest and conceptual sci-fi narratives. Every track offers something unique, showing the band’s ability to experiment with diverse sounds and ideas without losing their aggressive edge.

Outside of the studio, OVERT ENEMY has built a reputation as a DIY powerhouse, handling much of their own production, marketing, and fan engagement. Their strong DIY ethic has earned them endorsements from leading brands like Sawtooth Guitars, Emperor Cabs, FU-Tone, and GODPS Music. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the band has used their time wisely, staying connected with their fans through live streams, social media, and consistent content releases. Their music has also found its way into independent films, further expanding their reach beyond the metal scene.

As they look to the future, OVERT ENEMY remains committed to creating music that not only reflects their personal experiences but also resonates with fans around the world. They are driven by faith, family, and a passion for their art, and they continue to be a beacon of the metal resurgence, blazing their own trail in the genre.

Yellow Snow will be headlining the 8th annual Rock n' Roll Charity Christmas Concert

As the vision of creator, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist Mike DiBiase, Yellow Snow encompasses recorded music, larger-than-life live performances, animation, content, multimedia, and more. And on December 4th at Third and Lindsley in Nashville, Yellow Snow will be headlining the 8th annual Rock n' Roll Charity Christmas Concert.

Performed at the upcoming concert will undoubtedly be many tracks from Yellow Snow's new album, 'Volume 1,' which contains rocked-up renditions of many holiday classics, including "The Grinch," "Let It Snow," and the new single, "Father Christmas," which is a cover of the Kinks classic.

For years, Rhode Island-born DiBiase — a lifelong musician and EMMY ® Award - nominated audio post production talent by trade — had “gifted” family and friends hard rock Christmas songs. He decided to bring them to the stage at a Rhode Island club in 2007 for the live debut of Yellow Snow, packing the house and donating a portion of the proceeds to various charities.

He annually headlined shows throughout the ensuing years stirring up a level of cult fandom among the initiated. The music also quietly took on a life of its own as DiBiase’s original song “Giddy Yup, Santa Claus” landed a high-profile sync on The CW’s Riverdale.

Armed with the framework constructed by DiBiase and his bandmates (Matt Baird, Al Diaz, Franklin La Barbara, Denise Gouvin, Jason Berndt, and Chris Piccirillo), he decamped to Nashville in order to finish recording what would become Yellow Snow’s full-length debut LP, 'Volume 1,' during 2023.

For the sessions, he assembled a murderers’ row of musicians, including Matchbox Twenty guitarist Kyle Cook, award-winning guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Derek Wells [HARDY, Lainey Wilson], horn players Curt Ramm and Bill Holloman [E - Street Band, Nile Rogers, Danny Gatton , Radiohead ], keyboardist Jon Coleman [Trace Adkins], Dave Cohen [Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Steven Tyler], vocalist Nathan Barlowe [Keith Urban, Tyler Hubbard, Luna Halo], and many more.

Not to mention, he tapped Jack Joseph Puig [The Black Crowes, Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer] to mix these ten tracks and Gavin Lurssen for the mastering. Nodding to personal influences a la Stone Temple Pilots , Alice In Chains , Queens of the Stone Age, Stax, and Queen, he brought an abundance of attitude, energy, and edge to the holidays with a handful of originals , including Man In Red, and covers like the lead single “Father Christmas,” “What’s this?” from The Nightmare Before Christmas , “Let It Snow,” “Drummer Boy,” “The Grinch,” and more.

In many ways, this is the record Mike has been waiting his whole life to make. He spent the majority of his career at legendary toy manufacturer Hasbro as a Music Director, Audio Engineer and Composer, crafting music for often 80 commercials per year. Among many highlights, he contributed compositions to household name franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Nerf, My Little Pony, Playskool, Tonka, Littlest Pet Shop, Play - Doh and many more. In recognition of his work he even garnered an EMMY ® Award nod for a Pictureka! game show open and picked up seven Telly Awards.

'Volume 1' and the upcoming Rock n' Roll Charity Christmas Concert will undoubtedly electrify this holiday season.

Out Now - LAST RETCH - Abject Cruelty

n the heart of Hamilton, Ontario LAST RETCH returns with Abject Cruelty, their most punishing and refined statement to date. Due out September 26, 2025 via Time to Kill Records, this eight-track slab of old-school death metal captures the raw energy of a band embracing its fury and focus with sharpened intent. It's a soundtrack to social rot: tight, unflinching, and seething with contempt.

Formed in 2021 in nearby St. Catharines, LAST RETCH burst onto the scene with a no-frills demo and soon followed it up with their debut full-length Sadism and Severed Heads in 2023 (CDN Records), a brutal introduction that married memorable riffcraft with pit-ready aggression. With the Ergotism EP (2024, CDN/Iron Fortress), they pushed their sound forward, showing flashes of melody, groove, and lyrical scope, before turning their sights fully on Abject Cruelty, their most cohesive and devastating effort yet.

Written against the backdrop of a city in collapse, Abject Cruelty channels the band’s surroundings (mental illness, addiction, poverty, political abandonment) into lean, groove-driven death metal that cuts like a rusted scalpel. Opener "Abject Cruelty" sets the tone with oppressive atmosphere and relentless tremolo, while "Beasley Meth Merchants", inspired by frontman Finlay Blakelock’s view from a Hamilton apartment, layers upbeat riffs with bleak commentary on drug abuse and systemic failure. "Dissecting the Leper" resurrects decade-old riffs into a live favorite built around a crushing breakdown, and "In the Polder They Reek", strikes a balance between stomp and melody, capped off by a rare, ripping solo.

Throughout the album, LAST RETCH leans into their greatest strengths: short songs, big riffs, and a clear throughline of OSDM brutality fused with memorable hooks. Their influences, CARCASS, CANNIBAL CORPSE, BOLT THROWER, are never hidden, but always filtered through their own perspective. There’s no pretense, just power: straightforward songwriting, blistering performance, and the urgency of a band with something real to say. The songs are compact but dynamic, swapping between Drop B and Drop A tunings to carve out contrasting moods, one moment frantic and angular, the next slow and suffocating.

Produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by DAVIS MAXWELL at Schoolhouse Studios, Abject Cruelty sounds as mean as it plays. The cover art by BRAD MOORE adds an appropriately grotesque visual to the record’s themes of bodily and societal decay.

With a reputation for high-energy live shows and previous gigs alongside GUTALAX, UNDEATH, GATES TO HELL, KRUELTY, and more, LAST RETCH stands poised to carve their name into the modern death metal landscape.

About LAST RETCH:

LAST RETCH is a death metal band from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, formed in 2021. Blending the earworm riffs of CARCASS, the anthemic drive of BOLT THROWER, and the relentless savagery of CANNIBAL CORPSE, the band delivers a modern take on old-school death metal that’s as visceral as it is memorable. With short, focused songs built around crushing grooves and no-nonsense structures, LAST RETCH distills the genre down to its most punishing essentials.

The current lineup: Finlay Blakelock (Vocals), Derek Brzozowski (Guitar), John Russell (Guitar), Matt Fyke (Bass), and Spencer Robson (Drums), operates with a clear mission: write riffs that stick, keep things tight, and hit hard. Each member brings a different perspective, resulting in a sound that nods to death metal’s roots while pushing into new territory with dynamics, pacing, and variation in tuning.

Since their formation, LAST RETCH has released a self-titled demo (2021), the full-length Sadism and Severed Heads (2023, CDN Records), and the Ergotism EP (2024, CDN Records/Iron Fortress Records). They’ve shared the stage with bands like GUTALAX, UNDEATH, GATES TO HELL, KRUELTY, and REPLICANT, earning a reputation for ferocious live performances and tight musicianship.

Their latest album, Abject Cruelty (2025, Time to Kill Records), is their most direct and aggressive work yet: an eight-track assault shaped by the decay and desperation of their hometown. With themes pulled from real life and riffs sharpened to a deadly point, LAST RETCH continues to evolve while staying rooted in the timeless brutality of death metal.

LAST RETCH is:

  • Finlay Blakelock – Vocals

  • Derek Brzozowski – Guitar

  • John Russell – Guitar

  • Matt Fyke – Bass

  • Spencer Robson – Drums

Out Today! - The Sorrow Of Being Immaculate - Suicide Forest

In the depths of a bitter Welsh winter, in an abandoned barn surrounded by broken trees and sodden earth, Suicide Forest began to take shape. With no neighbors, no lights, and only the distant hum of unsettled winds, THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE set up a modest array of gear and started to write at full volume. The setting was as much a part of the record as the riffs themselves, each track soaked in the desolation and cold detachment of the landscape. This was not a place for warmth or clarity. It was a place to surrender to the weight of memory, to the slow, repetitive cycles of regret, and to the idea that music might not heal, but might at least bear witness.

Suicide Forest, set to be released by Drone Alone on September 26th, 2025, is the first full-length album from THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE, an anonymous solo project steeped in instrumental doom, sludge, and drone. Where there might traditionally be lyrics, there is silence. Where there might be structure, there is repetition that borders on obsession. Each song loops like a thought you cannot escape. Each moment lingers just a little too long.

Suicide Forest was engineered and co-mixed by Mike Bannard at Safehouse Studios in Oxford. Everything else, from recording, to mastering, to cover art, was handled by THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE.

There is no relief in this record. That is not its purpose. It is a document of personal reckoning, born in isolation and shaped by years of psychological sediment. Suicide Forest does not ask to be liked. It asks only to be entered. Whether or not you come out the other side is entirely up to you.

About THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE:

THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE is an anonymous solo project from Oxford, England, crafting bleak, instrumental sludge and drone since 2023. With no vocals, no public identity, and no live appearances, the music exists in complete isolation: just distortion, repetition, and emotional exhaustion.

Emerging from the Welsh countryside with the debut EP Church Music for Satanists in early 2024, THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE quickly established a signature sound: hypnotic, heavy, and relentlessly minimal. The follow-up full-length, Suicide Forest, released by drone alone in 2025, pushed further into themes of anxiety, decay, and existential fatigue, blending guitar-driven doom with eerie drones and field-recorded interference.

Influenced by artists such as ELECTRIC WIZARD, SUNN O))), EARTH, and CARTER/TUTTI/VOID, the project explores psychological weight through slow repetition and spiritual dissonance. There are no lyrics because nothing more needs to be said. The riffs are the message.

For those drawn to the darker corners of sound, where catharsis is earned through endurance, THE SORROW OF BEING IMMACULATE offers a solitary descent.

Chase Rice Releases New Album, ‘ELDORA’

After helping ignite an entire era of country music’s modern history, Chase Rice is no stranger to blazing trails. But on his new album ELDORA, out now, his instincts point deep into the creative wilderness.… To the rugged, untamed authenticity of the American West.

Fifteen years into an adventurous career, Rice has seen it all (and done most of it twice) – a true singer-songwriter with success in both disciplines. Yet there are always mountains left to climb. And right now, there’s only one direction he wants to go.

“That’s what I feel like this record is,” Rice says. “For me, it was that absolute freedom I was looking for, that’s what took me out West. It’s been my life the last 10 years, and the biggest theme on this album is running towards freedom. I’ve found that almost always means running away from home.”

Stripped down to an exhilarating degree, ELDORA does find the star leaving his past work behind – but to be fair, the Florida-born North Carolina native has never been a fan of staying put. Bursting onto the country scene as a Diamond-certified songwriter (“Cruise”), Rice went on to become a 10x Platinum artist, with hits like “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” and “Eyes On You” notching two No. 1’s at Country Radio. Through chest-thumping euphoria and bold romantic passion, he booked sold-out international tours, and shared stadium stages with Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney, racking up more than 3 billion streams in total. But for the former collegiate linebacker and NASCAR crew member, it was never about the stats. Leaving the major-label system in 2024, Go Down Singin’ brought Rice full independence – and a new dedication to his storytelling craft. Yet for his eighth studio album, that commitment hits the next level.

Written in a Colorado cabin and inspired by a hidden, mountainside town, the 12-songs on ELDORA represent the most raw, unguarded expression of Rice’s talent to date. Born in the afterglow of an epic show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, it finds a hit maker stepping back from spectacle, to put his lyricism firmly in the spotlight … a journey few of his stature would dare attempt. And while there’s no map for the path ahead, Rice doesn’t shy from the trail less traveled.

“I don’t know many people that have ever gone down the road I’m going down,” he admits. “And when you’re this mainstream artist who makes a big shift, it takes a lot to get people to believe. But I think it’s extremely believable … because it’s extremely real.”

Working hand-in-hand with co-writer/producer Oscar Charles, Rice adopts the unfiltered, rough-hewn approach of an off-the-grid maverick for ELDORA. Prioritizing in-the-moment honesty – and building on a rediscovered love for songwriting legends like John Prine – simple, acoustic-guitar-based songs tell unflinching tales with vivid characters, while his smoky vocal cuts to the heart of good times and bad. Each track was captured in minimalist style, and then placed on the album in the order it was written. To call it “bare bones” would barely do it justice.

“Every night we’d do like 10 work tapes of the day’s song – as soon as it was written – and we realized after the first one we really loved how my voice was sounding,” Rice explains. “So we decided right there to take that process, and scale it up. Everything you hear on this record is live, one take. The next day we’d add on the band, but the foundation was me and a guitar singing live, with zero editing afterwards. You can’t edit a vocal when there’s a guitar in the track, too.”

As a producer, Charles says he almost had no choice in the matter. Rice has “grown exponentially” as both a singer and guitarist – so it would be a disservice not to place them front and center.

“I think this album is the most inviting presentation of Chase’s artistry to date,” he explains. “The rawness and  ultravulnerability is immediately disarming, from the first notes. I think it will cause listeners to really lean in and get to know Chase.”

With the opening track, “Cowboy Goodbye,” Rice lays out his intent. A campfire-style ballad dedicated to a modern-day drifter, it finds the former bro-country icon saying farewell to his former self.

“I’ve been living in Montana and my Airstream for the last five years, for about four months out of the year,” Rice explains. “So the way I see the world is completely different. For the first time in my life, I had zero thought – absolutely zero – of ‘What do people want to hear?’ Actually, the main thought behind the album was ‘What are real stories about people?’”

Those stories shine throughout. Named after a hideaway map dot, the misty title track “ELDORA” features a dreamy vocal echo, as Rice tells the tale of a young Colorado couple, long on the run from their painful past. Thick with metaphor, they finally decide they are worthy of a fresh start.

“Honestly, it’s about forgiving yourself,” Rice says. “We’re all running from something, but we’re also running towards something. You just have to let go of your past.”

Meanwhile, tunes like “Mr. Coors” tribute the American Dream behind the billion-dollar beer brand (with Rice’s dedication to the truth born out in biographical detail). And with the anguished Americana of “Circa 1943,” a swirling tale of star-crossed lovers redefines the term “bittersweet.”

Inspired by the favorite pickup of Colorado locals, rootsy up-tempos like “Two Tone Trippin’ (feat. Wyatt McCubbin)” pair the steady roll of endless blacktop with a gravel-and-blues edge. And while the woozy “Cottonmouth” hits like a red-eyed anthem of string-bending country punk, Rice gets consciously political on “Tall Grass (feat. Kashus Culpepper and Elvie Shane).” Roots gospel and copperhead soul collide as the trio call out the danger of power-hungry snakes, hidden from view.

Elsewhere, Rice’s romantic roots are stronger than ever on tracks like the dark, moody “Country & Western (feat. Madeline Edwards)” – a sexy, Texas-meets-tall-pines anthem with a “John Mayer guitar solo.” “Namin’ Horses” features a gentle acoustic gallop, and with the reflective “One Drink Long,” Rice nurses the memory of too many midnight mistakes.

Finally, “Good Side of Gettin’ Older” tributes the things Rice learned along his winding trail – a standout singalong with an easy-going front porch sway. And with the album-ending “Sunsettin’,” he channels magic-hour into a breathtaking sonic panorama. Another quiet contemplation, framed by his tender vocal, finger-picked guitar and fiddle, it finds Rice lost in thought, wondering what might have been … if different choices were made. But he won’t lose sleep over ELDORA.

“I know I’m taking big risks … but I’m not in this for fame and money,” Rice says. “I want to be proud of my music at the end of my life. And if that costs me the other two, I’m okay with that.”

A Killer's Confession Release New Album, Victim 2

A Killer’s Confession, the alternative metal band fronted and created by Waylon Reavis, releases its fifth studio album, Victim 2.  A new video for the opening track “Hopeless Gray” is also available now.

Additionally, A Killer’s Confession announces a U.S. tour with labelmates Dogma this November.  The tour kicks off on November 11th in Pittsburgh, PA and wraps on November 23rd in Westland, MI. Full dates are below.

On Victim 2, Waylon delves deeper into the concept of the light and dark sides of mankind, and continues the story of a serial killer who wants to bring horrific criminals to justice. But, as he's learning, there are consequences for his misguided deeds, even if he thinks they are the right thing to do.

Waylon says, “Welcome to Victim 2. This is my proudest moment as an artist. It’s very hard to be a fan of your own music, but it is very easy to become a fan of the people you work with to create the music. So much hard work and determination between myself, Dusty Boles and Evan McKeever was put into finishing the second part of the Victimtrilogy. I could honestly say I could not have done it without them. I feel this album pulls at every emotion and takes the listener on a true journey while leaving a void for Victim 3 to finish the story.”

Victim 2 kicks off in bristling fashion with “Hopeless Gray” and “In Case Of Emergency,” but as the story progresses, the collection of songs explores different musical territory. Victim 2 shows how A Killer’s Confession likes to blend genres, notably on the track “Hollow.” While the song may have an aggro guitar sound, there’s a pop hook in the chorus, while EDM and trap sounds lurk just below the surface. Throughout Victim 2, the dark inner voices plaguing the murderous vigilante emerge in pitch-shifted fashion to distinguish them from his “normal” self. The unexpected cover of Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box” halfway through the album signals a turning point for the killer as he starts re-evaluating his humanity. The closing track wraps things up in an epic, melodic fashion.

KITTIE Release SPIT XXV EP; Drop Brand New Music Video For "Do You Think I'm A Whore? XXV"

Canadian heavy music pioneers Kittie release their Spit XXV EP today, marking 25 years since their landmark debut transformed them from four Canadian teenagers into international heavyweights. The collection arrives via Sumerian Records, featuring re-imagined and re-recorded versions of four of the original album's stand out tracks, all produced once again by Garth Richardson, who helmed the original breakthrough sessions in 1999 at EMAC Studios. Stream the full EP HERE.

The EP's release is highlighted by a confrontational new music video for "Do You Think I'm A Whore? XXV," showcasing Kittie's unflinching approach to re-examining their most provocative material with two and a half decades of artistic growth. Watch the music video below.

Speaking on today's release, Kittie vocalist and guitarist, Morgan Lander shares

"We’re beyond excited to revisit and reimagine songs that that started it all for us with Spit XXV. Re-recording these songs has been an emotional and empowering journey. It’s a chance to honour our roots while bringing a new level of energy and experience to the music. Spit XXV isn’t just a celebration of where we came from, but a thank-you to the fans who have stood by us for the past 25 years.

""Do You Think I’m A Whore?" has always been the dark horse of our debut album and it is was such a pleasure to give it the updated treatment and celebrate how awesome of a song it really is. Pair that with the unbelievable music video visuals from William Felch at Wombat Fire and it’s clear the track is finally getting its flowers."

"Do You Think I'm A Whore? XXV" demonstrates how Kittie's musical evolution has only intensified the song's emotional impact. Originally one of the most visceral moments on their gold-certified debut, the re-recorded version channels decades of artistic growth while maintaining the raw vulnerability that made the original so powerful.

The Spit XXV EP represents more than nostalgic reflection—it's proof of the original album's enduring relevance. Rolling Stone ranked the title track #82 on their "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time" in 2023, while artists like Serena Cherry of Svalbard continue crediting the album as formative to their musical development.

SPIT XXV arrives during Kittie's most successful era in over a decade. Their 2024 comeback album Fire shattered expectations, reaching #13 on UK Rock & Metal Albums charts and earning a 2025 Juno Award nomination for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year. With 920,000 monthly Spotify listeners spanning multiple generations and triumphant festival performances at Sick New World, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple, Kittie has proven their relevance extends far beyond nostalgia into contemporary dominance. The band's ability to command stages and attract new audiences through social media demonstrates that their revolutionary spirit burns as fiercely as ever.

Kittie will bring the Spit XXV celebration to major festival stages this fall, performing at Louder Than Life this weekend and Aftershock Festival next month. Fans attending Louder Than Life this weekend can also catch Morgan and Mercedes Lander DJ at Blood Rave - an official LTL after-party - this evening. More Information can be found HERE.

The Spit XXV EP is proof of Spit's lasting relevance and Kittie's evolution as artists. Twenty-five years after four teenagers from Ontario redefined who belonged in heavy music's most aggressive spaces, Kittie continue creating pathways for others while cementing their legacy as genuine pioneers.

ABOUT KITTIE

When you discovered Canadian heavy music pioneers Kittie has a direct influence on how you see them. For those on board from the beginning with Spit in 2000, Kittie was part of nu-metal's explosive rise. Through later albums including Oracle (2001), In The Black (2009), and I've Failed You (2011), the band evolved into something far more sinister, viewed as a serious metal outfit. After a prolonged hiatus broken only by a 2017 hometown show and 2018's documentary Kittie: Origins/Evolutions, the band returned in 2022 following festival offers including Sick New World.

12.6 million career streams later, vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander, drummer/backing vocalist Mercedes Lander, guitarist Tara McLeod, and bassist Ivy Vujic maintain that Kittie never broke up because it remains ingrained in their identity. Their 2024 album Fire, produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains), marked their triumphant return with renewed fury and unfathomable sonic brutality. As Kittie now pay homage to their past whilst also bringing it firmly into the present day, with the new Spit XXV EP, the new era of Kittie continues to blaze forth, illuminating the way as they take their rightful place as torchbearers for heavy music.

About PARADISE LOST:

More than three decades into their career, and with over two million albums sold, PARADISE LOST remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal through their early groundbreaking albums like 1991’s aptly-titled Gothic, a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere.

Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored a myriad of avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with the enormous, lush sounds of 1995’s Draconian Times, to more experimental, electronic leanings, leaving an influence on a trail of artists as varied as CRADLE OF FILTH, HIM, GATECREEPER and CHELSEA WOLFE.

Now, in 2025, the Yorkshire quintet return with their staggering 17th album, Ascension, a record that sees their crown continue to gleam as it underlines just how they attained their position. Produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh at Black Planet studios in East Yorkshire, with drums and vocals captured at NBS and Wasteland studios in Sweden, its 10 tracks traverse the multitude of sounds in the band’s arsenal, from full-bore heavy metal to sky-high melody, all the while keeping a minor-key melancholy that remains irresistible.

Electronic hardcore pioneers I See Stars have released their new album 'THE WHEEL' via Sumerian Records. The full-length is the band's latest body of music since their smash-hit 2016 album, 'Treehouse'. In celebration of the news, the quartet has released the official music video for the poignant track "carry on for you". Speaking about the album, the band shared:

"The last time we spent this much time on a record was our debut album, '3D'. 'The Wheel' is a time capsule capturing the past seven years of our lives. It’s a culmination of everything we’ve experienced individually, together, and as human beings navigating the chaos of the world. We truly poured everything into it & we are so excited to finally share it with our fans."

I See Stars fans across Australia and Asia will soon have their chance to see the band on the road, followed up by a performance at Vans Warped Tour Orlando in November. 'THE WHEEL' is available now on all streaming platforms at the link here. Watch "carry on for youbelow, and be sure to stay tuned for more I See Stars news coming soon.

ABOUT I SEE STARS

Somehow, it’s been nearly a decade since the last I See Stars album. There have, however, been a few hints and glimpses of it over the past couple of years. In 2023, the electronicore pioneers released four songs: AnomalyDriftare we 3ven and D4MAGE DONE, while in 2024 they put out SPLIT. While all five songs do appear on this record, they only revealed a fraction of what the band—these days comprised of Brent Allen (guitar), Andrew Oliver (keyboards/programming), Devin Oliver (clean and unclean vocals) and Jeff Valentine (bass)—had in store. Because THE WHEEL, the band’s sixth full-length, is an album in the truest sense of the word, one designed to be listened to in full from beginning to end, and which truly immerses you in its world when you do. It’s the product of a lot of patience, a lot of care, a lot of time, some of which was by design, some of which was out of the band’s control.

After releasing Treehouse in 2016 and then touring on it, I See Stars did actually start working on a new album, but when Covid hit, they scrapped pretty much all of it to instead sharpen their focus. There was, after all, nothing but time, so the band decided to spend it making a record that lived up to their own expectations and which fully matched their artistic vision.

“It gave us the opportunity to take a step back and really dive into what we wanted to actually dig in and write,” says Jeff. “Not that what was done before was bad, but this gave the four of us an opportunity to sit in a room with each other and just write.

As such, THE WHEEL is a fully-formed living memory of both of those eras, and one that places the listener right there with the band. “It's really kind of a special piece,” continues Devin, “and you feel that in the journey when you're listening to the album front to back. You feel us swimming in the mystery of what life was doing and where it was taking us.

Produced by David Bendeth, and mostly mixed by Zakk Cervini—though Tom Norris also worked on a couple of tracks—THE WHEEL took on a life of its own when the band started making it. The album begins with Spin It, which is simply the sound of a wheel being spun. It’s not just for aesthetic purposes, though. In the studio each day, the band would spin a web-based digital wheel to determine which song they would work on, but it was also a way to add some levity to the creative process.

“We would throw all the songs onto this website wheel,” remembers Andrew, “as well as some dumb, totally not creative thing in there that would like sidetrack us—but purposefully. It was this comedic approach that we were taking every day, where whatever the wheel told us to do, we’d do. It had these zany sound effects, but also created this weird vibe where we were like ‘We've just got to trust fate here.’ We're all obsessed with fate and letting things happen as they might, so the sound effect was an obvious thing for us to include—and then it took shape into a much larger concept.”

“What I really loved about the wheel concept,” adds Devin, “was it wasn't our choice. It was our choice to leave it to chance, yes, but we trusted the universe to point us in the right direction by spinning the wheel. It started off as a joke, but turned into this thing that became really important for us.”

Beyond the idea of fate and purpose, there are some other complex and deeply personal themes on this record. The yearning, tragedy-laced carry on for you—undoubtedly one of the saddest, most beautiful songs on the record—was written after Devin and Andrew lost their uncle to pancreatic cancer, while a number of the other songs detail Devin’s struggle with a condition called intracranial hypertension that’s caused as a result of too much fluid in the brain.

“It made me very familiar with the hospital,” says Devin. “I was hospitalized for months on end and that lasted for about two years of my life. So a lot of this record is about that. I don't deal with the chronic pain that I had from that anymore, and some would say the condition is in remission, but it's really hard for me to listen to some of these songs—truly—because there were a lot of moments writing this record where I didn't want to be alive. That's really hard for me to admit, because I'm not that person who talks about this stuff openly. I talk about it through our music—my traumas come out through my artistic expression. So listening to the record really gets emotional for me, because I'm not in the same place I once was. I'm super grateful to not be in all that pain.”

It all combines to make a record that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, as vulnerable as it is powerful, and as pure as anything I See Stars have made in their almost two-decade long career. After a long time in stasis, it’s clear to hear just how rejuvenated and refreshed they are, even as final track Curtain Call speeds off into the distance. That song is, as Devin calls it, “a wheel of emotion”, and ends with a question (well, two) repeated over and over again: ‘Will you ever love? Will you ever love me?’ “'Curtain Call' is tapping on every fucking thing we talked about on the whole record in one song,” says Devin. “It's almost like the wheel spinning in song form—it keeps turning round and is just racing through time and emotions. And the question we ask at the end of the song has a lot to do with the band. Will I ever be enough as an artist? Will the fans ever see us for everything we've put into this, which essentially at this point is our entire lives?”

Even just one listen to this record and it’s pretty clear that the answer to both those questions is a resounding yes.

LORNA SHORE’s New Album “I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me” Out Today

Lorna Shore’s first new album in three years, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, is out today via Century Media Records, alongside a highly emotional new music video for “Glenwood.” It visually captures the song’s overarching narrative: Vocalist/lyricist Will Ramos’ personal journey to reconnect with his estranged father. See the gripping music video, directed by Dylan Hryciuk, Below.

Ramos says of the new track, “This song has been a very long-time coming for me. In my teens, my father and I never had a great relationship. We’ve had countless fallouts and it got to the point where we hadn’t spoken to each other in many, many years. I’d written songs in my teens and early 20s about him and my frustration but nothing really helped fill the hole I felt inside. There were just too many mixed emotions. As time went on, I came to realize that, despite my anger, all I ever really wanted was to go back to the home I grew up in. For that reason, I decided to knock on his door and try one more time to get in touch with him.”

He adds, “‘Glenwood Ave’ was the name of the street I grew up on. I remember my father always telling me, ‘I’m the tree, you’re the branch.’ The day I saw my father (for the first time in who knows how long), I quickly realized something. He wasn't the same person I remembered. He’d aged, had wrinkles, and a full-head of white hair. The tree that I remembered growing up next to was gone. The house inside was the same as I remembered but… older… dustier; and it felt… strange. As time seems to fly by for me, it also does for my father. And in all my parting, I never stopped to think about how much time actually went by. I spent my youth being so prideful and stubborn. I never even considered that as I was aging, so was he. I’ve had countless chances to fix things but wasn’t brave enough to actually do it. And now, I will never be able to get that time back. I wanted to capture that feeling when I wrote this song. My only hope is that when people hear ‘Glenwood,’ they can think about their own lives and the people they’ve pushed away and ask themselves: ‘Is it really worth being upset for this long?’ I believe all we really want is to go back to that special place – a place where nostalgia triumphs over trauma; a place that we can call home.”

“Glenwood” follows the release of “Oblivion,” “Unbreakable” and “Prison Of Flesh” from I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me. As Lorna Shore’s fifth album and the first in three years since 2022’s explosive Pain Remains, it continues the band’s reputation as one of the most impressive extreme metal acts to emerge in recent memory.

The quintet, also including lead guitarist Adam De Micco, drummer Austin Archey, rhythm guitarist Andrew O'Connor and bassist Michael Yager, have hit the viral Spotify charts, racked up hundreds of millions of streams, embarked on highly successful tours and in the process, galvanized a significant fanbase that hangs onto the band’s quest for stylistic inversion. But by virtue of physical onslaught and wanting to divine truth from their music, Lorna Shore have kept themselves fired up by torching the metal rulebook at every turn, practically demanding that other genres step up their game.

I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me is now available in multiple formats including digital, CD and limited-edition vinyl variants. Fans can stream the album HERE and find their preferred physical and digital retailer HERE. Fans can also shop a merch collection, available HERE.

Lorna Shore will bring tracks from I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me and other hits on the road beginning September 17, joined by The Black Dahlia Murder, Shadow Of Intent and PeelingFlesh in a tour produced by Live Nation. Tickets are on sale now.

Meet RAVEN BLACK, a theatrical metal act originally from Los Angeles. Their unique brand of metal, influenced by gothic, classical, and heavy metal music, serves as the soundtrack to vocalist Raven's duality as she shares her story of being a hybrid of both dark and light.

Drawing from a myriad of musical inspirations, RAVEN BLACK expertly blends elements from their favorite art forms, including movies, ethnic backgrounds, and personal life experiences. Each song is crafted to take fans on an adventure, offering new perspectives and understandings. Their sound ranges from melodic to dark, fun to raging and psychotic—yet every track tells a story.

At the heart of their narrative lies a comic book character: a girl whose innocence was taken at a young age. Overcoming her demons and cursed by her predators, she discovers she is half human, half doll. The doll within her is dark, and as she embraces her inner darkness, she travels with her demons who protect her from those seeking to steal her inner power.

She is the key.

Schmitty Signs with The Neal Agency

As Midwest native and Warner Chappell Music singer-songwriter Schmitty prepares to release his debut six-song EP, Office With A Viewavailable everywhere this Friday, he’s signed with The Neal Agency (TNA) for booking.

"I couldn’t think of a better home for my booking than The Neal Agency. Jake, Ryan, and the team feel like family and share the same values I grew up with back home in the Midwest,” shares Schmitty. “With a roster that looks like my playlist and a winning culture all around, it’s a dream come true. Let’s get to work!"

TNA agent Jake Moore added, “We are thrilled to welcome Schmitty to our roster. His mix of raw talent and storytelling instantly stood out.”

Office With A View blends Schmitty’s wild child spirit and the down-home morals that shaped him during his years growing up and working on his family farm in Washburn, North Dakota, along the rural banks of the Missouri River. Inspired early on by stories of his paternal grandpa’s Hall of Fame barbershop quartet, The Schmitt Brothers, he was taught his first guitar chords at 13 by a bluegrass-picking neighbor, he recalls: “That’s where the music bug bit me.”

Leaving behind his tractor seat as a third-generation grain farmer to chase his dream in Nashville, Schmitty draws from the influences his family instilled - The Eagles to The Allman Brothers - while shaping his own jam-band storyteller aura.

Heartfelt lyrics and candid honesty have elevated his social media presence, with one YouTube share sparking millions in conversation - affirming his belief that God truly put him on this earth to create music. Pulling from his own journey - the highs, lows and lessons learned - he writes with a grounded authenticity that connects heart to heart with listeners.

With previously released songs like “Cadillac,” “This Side of the Porchlight,” and debut album title track “Office With A View,” Schmitty keeps one foot planted firmly in the dirt that raised him while building a foundation for what’s ahead. With new music on the horizon and a growing calendar of shows, Schmitty is represented by Warner Chappell’s Jessi Stevenson for publishing and Fusion Music’s Dylan McGraw and Daniel Miller for management.
