THE HALO EFFECT - unveil final track "Shoreline" (Broder Daniel cover)

The circle is closing. THE HALO EFFECT unveils the fifth and final song from their highly anticipated cover EP We Are Shadows. Each member of the band selected a personal favorite and classic track to reinterpret, and this last choice comes from drummer Daniel Svensson.

Svensson’s pick is a heartfelt tribute to Gothenburg legends Broder Daniel – their 2003 alternative pop anthem 'Shoreline'.

Needless to say, THE HALO EFFECT have made the song entirely their own, delivering a powerful and emotional rendition where frontman Mikael Stanne once again shines, seamlessly blending clean vocals with his unmistakable growls.

Reflecting on his choice, Daniel Svensson comments:
"Broder Daniel were one of the bands that created the Gothenburg indie-pop scene in the late ’90s. There are several parallels to the ‘Gothenburg Sound’ — both scenes were driven by a strong DIY ethos and comradeship while gathering international attention.”

THE HALO EFFECT UNVEIL A POWERFUL RENDITION OF PHENOMENA'S 'DANCE WITH THE DEVIL'

Swedish melodic death metal collective THE HALO EFFECT continue to reveal tracks from their forthcoming cover EP We Are Shadows, out November 21.

Each band member has chosen a personal favorite song to reinterpret, and this time it’s guitarist Niclas Engelin’s turn. His choice: the 1985 classic 'Dance With The Devil' by the legendary “supergroup” PHENOMENA, featuring Glenn Hughes, Mel Galley (Whitesnake), and Cozy Powell, among others.

THE HALO EFFECT’s version transforms the iconic track into a crushing, melodic storm — with Mikael Stanne’s ferocious growls and the band’s trademark guitar-driven intensity breathing new life into the timeless song.

Niclas Engelin recalls the song’s lasting impact:
“I got hit by lightning in the 7th grade when I got to borrow the album by Phenomena from my friend Emil Olsen. The song Dance With The Devil struck me hard, and I recorded the whole album on cassette — which I played into dust.”

We Are Shadows will feature unique reinterpretations personally chosen by each member of THE HALO EFFECT, showcasing the diverse influences behind one of Sweden’s most acclaimed modern metal acts.

TRIBAL GAZE RELEASE NEW ALBUM, 'INVEIGHING BRILLIANCE

Texas death metal hellions TRIBAL GAZE have released their eagerly awaited sophomore album, Inveighing Brilliance, today with Nuclear Blast Records.

Since their introduction just four years ago, the five-piece has quickly slayed listeners and audiences around the world with their signature, modern twist on brutal old-school death that has propelled the band to pack leaders in their scene. Armed with an unbridled onslaught of riffs, the band cuts through the crowd with an intense, unrelenting new album of disorder, featuring furious stand out tracks like “To The Spoils of Faith” and “Beyond Recognition.”

Commenting on the record’s release, guitarist Quintin Stauts says:

“This album represents a different era for us. The world really seems like a different place than when the last record came out. This one focuses less on creative fictional story telling and more on truly feeling violent. We felt it was appropriate to take a more radical approach to riff and lyric writing.”

“I probably listen to this song the most because its short and it just has parts that make me rewind it even though it’s our song and we’ve heard it a million times. The heavy parts in this song are the perfect representatives of the guitar tone our producer Taylor Young helped us achieve.”

Swedish metal powerhouse THE HALO EFFECT return with their electrifying new single – a blistering take on WASP’s 1984 anthem 'I Wanna Be Somebody'. The track, handpicked by guitar hero Jesper Strömblad, marks the band’s third cover version and continues their celebration of iconic heavy metal influences.

Alongside the single, the band proudly announce that these reinterpretations will culminate in a brand-new EP, We Are Shadows, set for release on November 21.

Icons of melancholic doom and gothic metal, PARADISE LOST have released their long awaited 17th album, Ascension, today with Nuclear Blast Records.

PARADISE LOST’s first album in 5 years, following 2020’s acclaimed Obsidian, was produced by the band’s revered guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackroryand is adorned with artwork by renowned British artist George Frederic Watts’ classic painting The Court of Death (1870-1902). Their latest, critically lauded masterpiece is evidence of a band still at the height of their prime 35+ years into a groundbreaking career. Formed in 2005 by guitarists Jan-Ole Lamberti and Volker Dieken, NAILED TO OBSCURITYstarted their journey as teenagers with an uncompromising vision. They released their independent debut Abyss in 2007, proving their resilience in an industry where many bands fade before they rise. With lineup evolutions in the early days and sonic transformations, the Germans honed their melancholic yet crushing sound, which reached new heights with Opaque (2013) and King Delusion (2017), released via Apostasy Records. These albums marked the first steps from a local underground act to a serious, globally touring band, following the arrival of vocalist Raimund Ennenga in 2012.

For Higher Power, that journey has seen them do things that, when they emerged onto the Yorkshire hardcore circuit in 2015, were never even on their radar. From their innocently frantic beginnings of emulating and celebrating legendary bands like Leeway and Merauder for a new generation, even playing their first two shows in the basement of the house owned by The Flexand at an early iteration of Outbreak Fest respectively, the ten years that have followed have seen them ride every ebb and flow that the music industry has to offer. From touring with everyone from Alexisonfire and Neck Deep to Knocked Loose and Angel Du$t to signing to Roadrunner Records for their sophomore full-length 27 Miles Underwater, they have achieved the sort of things that, up until recently, would never have been on the horizon of possibility for a hardcore band of their ilk. Yet, within experiencing the industry mechanics usually reserved for the highest echelons of rock royalty, they also realised they were drifting away from the things that made them want to do all of this in the first place.

The result of putting what feels right for them first is There’s Love In This World If You Want It, a record that encapsulates the Higher Power spirit in a way that only those whose hearts are truly entrenched in the band can produce. Peeling away layers of assumption and ideology placed upon them by others and focusing once more on the genre-splicing experimentation that inspired them to create together in the first place, they have produced nine songs that showcase exactly what they are made of in a screaming rainbow of colour.
