New Model Army Release New Single "Poison Street (Live At SO36)" From Live Album Out March 28

Raw, unfiltered, and brimming with energy, the album showcases New Model Army at their most visceral. The performance features fan favorites like "Poison Street," alongside rarer tracks the band has never performed live before, spanning various eras of their extensive history. This live album serves as a companion piece to their 2023 release, Sinfonia, recorded just the day before.

Listen to "Poison Street (Live at SO36)" Below:

"When the idea of doing a New Model Army concert with a full orchestra at Berlin's magnificent Tempodrom venue was first floated, we had a thought: That if we were going to do something so extravagant, we should also do the exact opposite on the same weekend. So, we booked the following two evenings at Berlin's legendary Punk Rock sweatbox, the SO36 in Kreuzberg, and returned to being the simplest, stripped down version of New Model Army we could be — without orchestra, keyboards, or double drums," the band says.

NMA continue, "Over the two nights, we performed 38 different songs (to add to the 21 performed with the orchestra), with the intention that the weekend should be seen as a whole. The Sinfonia project, in all its magnificence, was released in 2023. Now, at last, comes the sweaty, full on rock 'n' roll. Both nights were recorded although only the first was filmed. Here it is!"

"We were writing and recording ideas in our own studio from mid-2021 and had already decided early on that our number one choice to mix it would be the legendary Tchad Blake. New Model Army Share Video for Orchestral Version Of "Winter"

New Model Army are about to release one of the defining albums of their long and respected career. Sinfonia, recorded with the Sinfonia Leipzig orchestra, is a masterpiece from a band who can somehow make it all look (and sound) easy.

"Winter (Orchestral Version)" is the second single taken from this magnum opus, and it is five minutes of sheer class from front to back. The arrangements, meticulously put together by Shir-Ran Yinon and conducted by Cornelius During, are a new benchmark of the tried-and-trusted "rock-band-meets-orrchestra" scenario, with none of the — and conversely moments of total musical abandonment and expression — obscured by what is essentially a 40-piece band.

"Winter" is a powerful track musically and narratively, with Justin Sullivanimploring: "Bring me the snowfall, bring me the cold wind, bring me the winter."

It's a wish from the protagonist asking for a metaphorical escape from the hell that they find themselves in. However, the song offers a glimpse of hope by its end, with talk of redemption, reconciliation, and healing.

New Model Army are a band who have earned respect throughout their career for not only making less obvious choices than one might expect, but also daring to make music that reveals itself more with each listen.

With Sinfonia they have broken the barriers between band and orchestra in true New Model Army style, redefining that relationship and defying expectation. All songs have been arranged for orchestra by long-time friend and guest violinist Shir-Ran Yinon, who, in collaboration with the band, created something unique but staying true to New Model Army.

Sinfonia will become available as a Double-CD Hardcover Mediabook, Triple 180g-Vinyl Gatefold and Digital. All live album's first print CD and Vinyl LP Editions will include the full show on DVD.

A Strictly Limited earBOOK Edition with Double-CD, DVD, Blu-ray, 80- page book and an exclusive Bonus CD with eight songs from the band's "SO36" show in Berlin on July 17, 2022, as well as various bundles will become available via an exclusive direct to consumer web shop.

New Model Army Share Video for Orchestral Version Of "Innocence"

The orchestral version of "Innocence" is the first single from New Model Army's forthcoming new album Sinfonia. It's a stellar performance together with Sinfonia Leipzig of a long-loved song which has been originally released in 1990. This unique version sets the mood for what to expect from an album that enthralls from start to finish.

Watch the video below. Listen to the song here.

New Model Army are a band who continue to thrive outside of any singular genre. Throughout their long and storied career, they have taken the road less travelled, shunning fame and instead, with each successive album, pushing boundaries of creativity.

It is the same music-first approach that has led to this year’s Sinfonia. Recorded at Tempodrom, Berlin on July 15, 2022, with Sinfonia Leipzig and conducted by Cornelius During, it may seem like an obvious evolution. However, in true New Model Army style, they have broken the barriers between band and orchestra, redefining that relationship and defying expectation. All songs have been arranged for orchestra by long-time friend and guest violinist Shir-Ran Yinon, who, in collaboration with the band, created something unique but staying true to New Model Army.

The show opens with the fully orchestral "Overture," but from the initial notes of "Devil's Bargain" to the closing of "Wonderful Way To Go," it is a journey through vital and visceral music, elevating the songs with power and sensitivity and resulting in an album subverting the expectations of the well-trodden path between rock bands and orchestras. New Model Army's music lends itself perfectly to this fresh interpretation without losing its individuality. Experimentation without compromise is a hallmark of New Model Army, and one of the primary reasons they are respected and revered.

Sinfonia will become available as a Double-CD Hardcover Mediabook, Triple 180g-Vinyl Gatefold and Digital. All live album's first print CD and Vinyl LP Editions will include the full show on DVD.

New Model Army To Release Live Album With Symphony "Sinfonia"

NEW MODEL ARMY TO RELEASE LIVE ALBUM WITH SYMPHONY SINFONIA OUT SEPTEMBER 15 VIA EARMUSIC

New Model Army are a band who continue to truly exist and thrive outside of any singular genre. Throughout their long and storied career, they have never taken the easy or safe choice, becoming notorious for shunning fame, and instead with each successive album pushing the boundaries of creativity.

It is the same principled, music-first approach that led to one of this year’s essential albums – Sinfonia. Recorded at Tempodrom, Berlin on July 15th, 2022, New Model Army and Sinfonia Leipzig, a full-scale orchestra, conducted by Cornelius During, may seem to some like an obvious evolution, however, in true New Model Army style they have broken down the barriers between band and orchestra in a new and exciting fashion. On Sinfonia, the band has redefined that relationship and defied expectation in a way that only they know how.

The show starts with a fully orchestral "Overture," but from the opening notes of "Devil's Bargain" to the closing of "Wonderful Way To Go," it is a complete journey across the time and space of a band who have always created vital, visceral music. The band and orchestra absorb each other alike and elevate the songs in both power and sensitivity.

All songs have been arranged for orchestra by long-time friend and guest violinist Shir-Ran Yinon, with whom New Model Army collaborated previously. However, this time they went above and beyond to create something unique, yet distinctly New Model Army.

Justin Sullivan states: "There have been many examples of rock bands playing with orchestras but not many good ones. We felt that the most important thing was that it must not sound or appear like a band with an added orchestra but had to be a unified 40-piece band."

Shir-Ran Yinon continues: "It felt like a big responsibility. When the band and I started working on this project, we immediately agreed that it should not turn into 'Justin Sullivan with orchestral accompaniment,' but must remain New Model Army. We all thought we had a unique opportunity to create something different and saw the orchestra as an integral and crucial part of it. The connection between the band, the conductor and the orchestra worked brilliantly."

The result is an album that subverts expectation of a previously well- trodden path between rock bands and orchestras. New Model Army's music lends itself perfectly to this new, fresh interpretation without losing its identity. Experimentation without compromise is the hallmark of New Model Army, and one of the primary reasons they are continually revered.

Dean White shares, "My enduring memory of it all was the spirit it was played with, one of camaraderie, willingness and joy and I think that comes through in the performance."

Michael Dean states, "What an experience this was! For me, the feeling of playing with such a massive sound was unbelievable. I remember in rehearsals, even before we started playing with the orchestra, just listening from the balcony I was absolutely blown away."

Ceri Monger: "The Sinfonia concert and the rehearsal days leading up to it were like going on a really cool, intense and adventurous holiday, a really special experience that was over before you knew it."

Cornelius During offers, "Music connects people. This has been known for a long time. For me personally, however, it has rarely been more noticeable than during the days we spent together with New Model Army and the Sinfonia Leipzig. There was an incredible atmosphere from the very first moment. The desire to push each other and to really put something special together" (...) "I look back on an unforgettable concert evening at the Tempodrom in Berlin - full of enthusiasm, passion and joy of playing."

Sinfonia will become available as a Double-CD Hardcover Mediabook, Triple 180g-Vinyl Gatefold and Digital. All live album’s first print CD and Vinyl LP Editions will include the full show on DVD.

A Strictly Limited earBOOK Edition with Double-CD, DVD, Blu-ray, 80- page book and an exclusive Bonus CD with 8 songs from the band’s “SO36” show in Berlin on July 17th, 2022, as well as various bundles will become available via an exclusive direct to consumer web shop.

WHITE VOID RELEASE NEW MODEL ARMY COVER "THE HUNT" (FEAT. GREG MACKINTOSH / PARADISE LOST)

Today, eclectic Norwegian hard rock band WHITE VOID, centered around Lars Nedland (Borknagar, Solefald), is releasing a cover of the song "The Hunt" by British indie rock and post punk heroes NEW MODEL ARMY from their 1986 album "The Ghost Of Cain". The track features a guest lead guitar appearance by none other than PARADISE LOST's Greg Mackintosh.

You can watch a video for "The Hunt" below.

LISTEN TO "THE HUNT" ON ANY STREAMING SERVICE:

Lars Nedland comments:
"The last two years have been strange for musicians. Lockdowns and isolation isn’t the best way to go about as a band, so White Void tried to counter this by staying busy and recording new music. First up: a cover song of one of our favourite artists, New Model Army.

This song was recorded during lock-down, so we were never in the studio at the same time, and that got us thinking: What if we created a video mirroring the situation this recording arose from?

We all set up cameras in our respective home studios, hit record, and performed the song together - while still being apart. We even had guest guitarist Greg Mackintosh of Paradise Lost set up a camera in his studio and record as he played the song’s solo.

So, this video is a testament to how corona affects musicians and to how new situations spark creativity and new expressions.

And with that, we invite you into our homes and “The Hunt”. We hope you enjoy it
"
Greg Mackintosh (Paradise Lost, Vallenfyre) adds:
When I was approached about contributing to a NMA cover I was kind of amused because I’ve had a rehearsal room next door to them for the last 20 years.

Then I heard it was 'The Hunt' which is up there as one of my favourite songs by them. Then Lars sent me their version of the song which I thought was great and I figured I may be able to add some sprinkles on top.

The result is a really vibrant and passionate take on a great song by a unique band.
I think Justin would approve.

Intellectual, startling, and original, ‘Anti’ is the start of something special.
Fistful of Metal (UK)

WHITE VOID is absence of direction and sense in life. It’s a description of the fundamental disharmony between the individual's search for meaning and the meaninglessness of the universe.

Eclectic hard rockers WHITE VOID are a curious bunch. Forged in the space between the occult rock of the seventies, the no-excuses-hard rock of the eighties and the British New Wave movement, they balance on the event horizon that separates old from new. Aggression from melody. Dream from drive.

Add to that the fact that the bandmembers of WHITE VOID have their backgrounds in Norwegian black metal, chiptune electronica, pop music and blues, and you’ll see why Anti is an album that’s hard to pin down. It’s darkly melodic, it’s driven, and it’s infused with earworms, hooks and licks. Boasting a shameless attitude, though, it comes forth as deeply true to the core of our shared hard rock heritage.

In the center of WHITE VOID stands Lars Are Nedland, long time member of BORKNAGAR and SOLEFALD. Leading a team of musicians including Tobias Solbakk of IHSAHN fame, electronica staple Vegard Kummen and blues rock virtuoso Eivind Marum, he navigates the waters of hard rock riffs, new wave harmonies and blues rock solos with determination and elegance.

Still, Anti probably doesn't sound like you think. It’s an album riddled with contrasts and references, musically as well as philosophically. The concept is based on Albert Camus’ Absurdism and deals with how you cope with an existence that is in its core absurd. Musically it draws on the past while forging towards the future. And the result? Well, enter the Void to find out!
