New Jersey's RAISED ON CANDY unveil 'Red M&M', teasing follow-up to Steve Albini-produced debut album

New Jersey alt-rock outfit Raised On Candy presents 'Red M&M', the second taste of their new album 'Play Marbles on the Turnpike', out in mid-November via Magic Door Record Label. Beneath its pull, the track hints at something far more unsettling, where desire and menace become difficult to separate. Its cryptic imagery and creeping sense of unease lend the song a dark, almost surreal quality.

Raised On Candy is Joe Penna (vocals, guitars) and Scotty Imp (drums, cymbals). Formed from the ashes of the band Buteo, Raised On Candy is the next step in the evolution of their music, weaving old school indie-rock and post-punk nuggets into tasty sonic delicacies. They've always called Montclair, New Jersey their home base. Scotty lives there and, while Joe lives in Riverside, Connecticut, he was born in Montclair and grew up in the nearby community of Toms River.

'Red M&M' is the second offering from a record that finds the duo expanding their noisy, hook-heavy sound without losing their wonderfully unruly edge. Built to hit hard, take this album takes multiple unexpected turns, the effect resonating well after the ride stops.

Raised On Candy produced this album together with Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, The Dambuilders), who also engineered, mixed and mastered it at Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair. With a minimalist interplay of melodic vocals, slow burn builds and massive hooks, precise rhythms unite with pyro-friendly guitars, transforming chaos into sharp, noisy rock.

"This song is about someone who wants what someone else has and is using fear as a means of obtaining it, disguised as seduction. Before it’s too late, the spell is broken and the tables turn," explains Joe Penna.

"It's all about the atmospherics that are present throughout the song, which slowly wind their way to an inevitable, mortal confrontation.  It reminds me a lot of an epic David vs Goliath battle, with the underdog eventually rising up and taking out that big ol’ bully once and for all."

In September, Raised On Candy shared 'Pickle Eyes', a tightly wound blast of melodic tension and explosive guitar-driven release.  Equal parts melodic earworm and noisy joyride, the track barrels out of the gate with wiry guitars, explosive rhythms and an unmistakably off-kilter charm. It's a tantalizing glimpse of an album that promises sharp hooks, combustible guitars and plenty of glorious left turns.

Scotty and Joe met over 20 years ago through a mutual friend, but it wasn't until after the demise of Joe's band Transit Belle around 2005 that they would collaborate. They formed the band Buteo, which eventually parted ways around 2010 after releasing one album and touring. While Joe pretty much stopped playing music, Scotty continued playing drums in Overlake and Stuyvesant, the latter of which he still plays with today. In 2022, Joe returned to songwriting, leading to the birth of Raised On Candy.

Raised On Candy's self-titled debut album was recorded with legendary producer-engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, The Breeders, Bush, Cheap Trick) at Electrical Audio and mastered by Matthew Barnhart (Superchunk, The New Pornographers, Bob Mould, The Mountain Goats) at Chicago Mastering Service. This would be one of the last records Steve ever worked on before passing away in May, adding a whole new level of emotion to this album, which would be released in July 2024.

"Joe had previously worked with Steve on a record for his band Transit Belle in 2002. Working with Steve was amazing.  He made so many records we love; it was a no-brainer. He provided a ton of creative input into how the record should sound, and also added subtle but noticeable effects to make things amazing, as well as providing a ton of input as to the overall mix and vibe of the songs."

On October 13th, 'Red M&M' is online everywhere digitally, includingSpotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The 'Play Marbles On The Turnpike' album, now available for pre-order, will be released on November 13th.

Epic Heavy Metal Newcomers UNCHAINED Unleash Anthemic New Single, "Warrior Heart"

From the battle-scarred strongholds of Portland, OR rises a new force in epic heavy metal: UNCHAINED VENGEANCE. The newcomers are pleased to now make their debut with 'Unbound and Unforgiving,' an anthemic offering with epic soundscapes that conjure the feeling of valiantly riding into battle on horseback with sword and mace in hand. The band is now unleashing the second single from the forthcoming opus, "Warrior Heart," which can now be heard below:

'Unbound and Unforgiving' is due on October 30, 2026 via Nameless Grave Records. It can be pre-ordered now HERE.

UNCHAINED VENGEANCE'a Nick Wusz comments on the song, "Look deep inside yourself, into the depths of forgotten dreams, and battles past...that is where you will find your heart. From Birth, through Present Day, and into the Future, you will walk alone, unafraid, knowing that you hold the ultimate key to everlasting hope....your WARRIOR HEART will never dim!"

From the battle-scarred strongholds of Portland, Oregon rises a new force in Epic Heavy Metal: UNCHAINED VENGEANCE.

Forged by the union of powerhouse vocalist Nick Courtney (former member of Vicious Rumors and the acclaimed Iron Maiden tribute band Fear of the Dark) and multi-instrumentalist Nick Wusz (of Dolven and Travellers Rest), UNCHAINED VENGEANCE arrives with their debut full-length assault, Unbound and Unforgiving.

This is a journey into an age long forgotten—an time where honor outweighs gold, where warriors carve their legends in steel, and where the sword triumphs over sorcery. Across ten triumphant tracks, UNCHAINED VENGEANCE unleashes a relentless barrage of thunderous riffs, soaring vocals, galloping rhythms, and heroic melodies destined to echo across the battlefield.

From the bond between warrior and blade in "The Whisper of Sorrowsbane," to the condemnation of false champions in "False Knight," and the bittersweet return to a fallen homeland in "Only Ruins Remain," Unbound and Unforgiving weaves tales of courage, loss, revenge, and redemption. Majestic acoustic passages and contemplative interludes, masterfully performed by dungeon synth maestro Fen Walker, provide moments of reflection before the next charge into glory.

Adorned with breathtaking cover art by Silvana Massa and a battle-ready logo crafted by Brendan Elliot, this debut stands as a banner for all who still believe in the warrior spirit.

Raise your steel. Break your chains. March into the fire.

The age of UNCHAINED VENGEANCE has begun.

Power Take Off Unveil Official Music Video for "Cornfields at Midnight"

High-Octane Family Rock Band Delivers Grit, Heart, and Pure Rock ’n’ Roll — Produced by Chuck Alkazian at Pearl Sound Studios

Power Take Off has unveiled the official music video for “Cornfields at Midnight,” bringing a new visual dimension to the band’s latest hard-hitting single.

Released August 18th on all streaming platforms via ANRGIRL/Betachain and distributed through FUGA/Universal, “Cornfields at Midnight” showcases Power Take Off’s signature combination of raw energy, tight musicianship, infectious hooks, and the unmistakable chemistry of a band built around family.

The band shares, "The 'Cornfields At Midnight' video truly catches our Power Take Off Midwestern, hard working, hard playing, rock and roll work ethic.

When it came to the video, we really wanted to capture the planting of a seed of corn and over a period of time how tall and strong it can grow. So strong it can elevate a drum set and represent a relationship of boy/girl experiencing time that passes together in their relationship.

We had such a blast during the production of 'Cornfields at Midnight'. All the agriculture scenes are shot on our 210-acre family farm in Madison, WI. It's also, the last family farm to exist in Madison today."

WATCH "Cornfields at Midnight" Below :

“Cornfields at Midnight” follows the band’s recent success with “Dixie Cup,” which has surpassed 100,000 streams in just a few months. Produced by Malcolm Springer and recorded at Stoner Creek Studios, owned by Peter Keys of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the milestone further established Power Take Off as a rising force in the rock scene.

At the heart of Power Take Off are father-and-son duo Scott and Ayden, whose musical journey began in 2019. During the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two began creating music together in the basement studio of their family home. What started as a creative outlet quickly became the foundation for a band with a sound and identity all its own.

Scott, a fourth-generation farmer and truck driver with more than 35 years in the music industry, takes on a new roll in the band. Once a drummer, Scott now takes center stage as the band's charismatic lead vocalist. His son, Ayden, began playing drums at an early age and has developed into a dynamic and highly skilled performer, bringing youthful intensity and precision to the band's live shows.

Scott shares, “Being a fourth-generation farmer, it’s hard to watch the landscape I grew up with change year after year. There’s something heartbreaking about seeing farmland, family farms, and small communities disappear as the world around them continues to grow. ‘Cornfields at Midnight’ is a reflection on time, change, and the transformation happening across rural communities throughout America’s heartland. It’s about saying goodbye to the small towns we knew and saying hello to big business and urban sprawl, watching concrete replace cornfields. That's what inspired the lyrics "in a concreted city that use to be our town."

"Power Take Off are Midwestern farm boys at heart, and this song is our way of bringing awareness to something that matters deeply to us. We’re not trying to tell people how to feel, we’re simply sharing our thoughts, our memories, and our perspective on what’s being lost as our hometowns change. We believe it’s a conversation worth having.”

The band's lineup is rounded out by Ethan “Hank” Schluter and Mike “Cowboy” Delp on guitar, with Jakob “JR” on bass. Together, the five-piece has built a reputation for electrifying performances, taking their music across the United States and completing multiple tours alongside national acts.

One of Power Take Off's most distinctive live moments comes when the father-and-son duo switches roles onstage. Scott returns to the drums while Ayden steps up to the microphone, giving audiences a completely different side of the band and highlighting the musical versatility that has become a hallmark of their performances.

“Cornfields at Midnight” continues that evolution, pairing Power Take Off's hard-driving rock ’n’ roll attitude with the polished production of Chuck Alkazian. The result is a track designed to hit just as hard through a pair of headphones as it does from the stage.

Power Take Off also recently brought their explosive live show to Taste of Madison in Madison, Wisconsin, on September 5, further expanding their growing presence on the festival and touring circuit.

“Cornfields at Midnight” is available now.

‘THE COMPLETE COLLECTION 1981-1984’ SET FOR RELEASE NOVEMBER 13TH VIA BMG

Originally formed in 1979 in Helsinki by singer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Monroe, Finnish rock superstars Hanoi Rocks are proud to release ‘The Complete Collection 1981-1984’, a deluxe compilation of their influential first five studio albums, set for release November 13th via BMG.

Featuring the bands much fabled albums Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks (1981), Oriental Beat (2022 ‘The RE(AL)MIX’), Self Destruction Blues (1982), Back To Mystery City (1983) and Two Steps From the Move (1984), the 6LP and 6 CD set includes a bonus album comprised of rare and unreleased tracks, titled Motorvatin’!!!. The bonus album includes songs from rare BBC live sessions as well as never before heard demos.

To preview the set, the band have released the BBC recording of ‘Underwater World’ on DSPs this week. Recorded that same year at the famous Maida Vale BBC Studios, Michael Monroe recalls the session…

"The BBC Session was recorded by Dale Griffin (‘Buffin’) who was the drummer of Mott The Hoople, one of our absolute favourite bands of all time. Him and Overend ‘Pete’ Watts had produced our previous album ‘Back To Mystery City’, since we couldn’t get Ian Hunter at the time, whom we’d asked first. However, when we were recording the ‘Two Steps From The Move’ album, produced by Bob Ezrin, Bob brought Ian Hunter to the studio to write some lyrics for us, since Bob knew that we were huge Ian Hunter fans. We were of course totally thrilled about this and Ian was super cool, as expected. He co-wrote 3 songs with us; ‘I Can’t Get It’, ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ and ‘Underwater World’.  After hearing the rough mixes of the songs, with the demo vocals, Ian said that he’d get back to us in about a week with his lyrics.  However, he was so inspired by the songs that he wrote them all the same night when he got back home.  So, the next day we got the lyrics written by Ian Hunter and they were absolutely brilliant!  That was exactly what we needed and we were ecstatic about it.”

“At the time of the BBC Session the band was in a good place in many ways,” continues Monroe. “However, the substance abuse had increased quite a bit among the band and this surely has to do with the tempo of this version of ‘Underwater World’ since it’s incredibly slow!  Haha, some of us must have been on some pretty heavy downers. I wish we would have speeded up the tempo a little bit in the mastering, but I guess it’s best to present the band just as it was - perfectly flawed at times.  So, here it is for you to enjoy!"

The physical version of The Complete Collection 1981-1984 includes a 36-page photobook featuring many previously unseen and rare shots, as well as studio album art cards from Hanoi Rock’s legendary initial run as a band.

The Complete Collection 1981-1984 displays in full the enduring impact of Hanoi Rocks’ song-writing craft, ballistic energy and colourful glamourous flair for fans of old and future generations to discover and enjoy.

Danheim Release New Single “Urblod”

DANHEIM, the Nordic folk and ambient project of Copenhagen-based producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen, have released “Urblod” via Season of Mist. The single follows Heimferd, the project’s first album for the label, and turns back toward the explicit mythological storytelling of Danheim’s earlier work.

“I wanted this track to feel like a chant reaching back beyond the gods, toward the oldest beings in Norse mythology”, Olsen says. “The Jötnar are not simply monsters or enemies of the gods: they represent something much older -primordial forces, and the untamed world from which everything else emerges.”

Danheim’s latest album, Heimferd, is out now on Season of Mist.

“Urblod” is a ritualistic chant dedicated to the Jötnar and the primordial beings of Norse mythology, the ancient powers associated with the world before and beyond the ordered realm of the gods. It draws on figures including Ymir, Bergelmir, Þrúðgelmir, Bölþorn, Bestla and Hræsvelgr, and evokes an older, untamed layer of the mythology: creation, ancestry, wilderness, and the forces from which both gods and giants ultimately emerge. The track sits within Danheim’s established language of percussion, chant and ambient texture, here pointed at the cosmology that predates the gods themselves.

DANHEIM is a Nordic folk/Viking inspired project from the Copenhagen-based Danish producer Reidar Schæfer Olsen, a man with 10 years of experience in electronic and ambient music – focusing on Nordic Folk and Viking age inspired music with a certain Nordic authenticity or mood. Danheim’s music is often composed of ideas and stories based on the darker side of the Viking period, inspired or consisting of Nordic Mythology, old Danish folklore, and a vivid imagination.

Danheim hit 1 billion streams across streaming platforms in 2022, has 585.000 subscribers on YouTube, with music featured in multiple seasons of the popular TV show Vikings.

Early information: Singer-songwriter Reidar Schæfer Olsen, (born in 1985, Brøndby, Denmark), transitioned to focus on music in the early 2000s and has been composing music almost continuously ever since, alongside doing radio shows and starting the indie label Fimbul Records.

With a passion for songwriting running through his veins from an early age, Reidar Olsen’s Viking-inspired music and dark melodies have broadened the Nordic folk genre and inspired millions of listeners around the world, bringing them back in time with a blend of his imagination and creativity.

“A deep connection to his Danish roots and heritage fueled his interest in the Nordic Folk/Viking genre, prompting the creation of Danheim and his indie label Fimbul Records.”

MIRANDA LAMBERT’S “VELVET RODEO” TO DEBUT IN THE NATIONAL COWGIRL MUSEUM’S NEW ICONS GALLERY OPENING NOV. 7

The National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame will introduce “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo” as the inaugural exhibition in its new Icons Gallery when the Museum’s expansion opens Nov. 7, 2026. Created in collaboration with Lambert, the exhibition features the one-of-a-kind wardrobe she wore during her Las Vegas residency.

“When I first visited the National Cowgirl Museum, I was so inspired by all of the amazing Western pieces on display that I sent a bunch of photos to my stylist, Tiffany. We mixed that inspiration with the heyday of Elvis to create the ‘Velvet Rodeo’ wardrobe,” said Lambert. “Seeing these pieces now have a life beyond the stage as part of the Museum’s new Icons Gallery feels really full circle and special.”

A National Cowgirl Hall of Fame honoree, active mounted shooting competitor and horsewoman, Lambert’s connection to the West reaches beyond her music. The exhibition brings together her identity as a cowgirl and her creative expression as a performer.

“Miranda’s confidence, determination and independence make her a wonderful representative of the women we honor,” said Pat Riley, Executive Director of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame. “Opening our Icons Gallery with this collaboration celebrates her accomplishments while giving visitors a new way to connect with a cowgirl they know and admire.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to study garments usually seen in motion and under stage lights, appreciating the details that help transform clothing into an essential part of a performance.

“Miranda’s ‘Velvet Rodeo’ styling was inspired by historic garments from iconic western tailors which she saw on display at the Museum,” said Ashley Kowalski, Curator. “We are honored to give her residency wardrobe a new stage where the collection can be appreciated in its entirety.”

The Icons Gallery is part of the Museum’s 16,000-square-foot expansion, which introduces new galleries and experiences that explore the accomplishments and influence of women of the West.

California's SOFT SCIENCE unveil 'Without' video, highlighting their fifth album 'Sand'

Northern California quintet Soft Science presents 'Without', a standout track from their fifth album 'Sand', their most focused, poignant collection to date, newly released via Shelflife Records in North America and Spinout Nuggets in the UK.

Showcasing creative blend of vibrant vocals, layered harmonies, cascading guitars and electronic textures, the accompanying video was created by Italian visionary Francesca Bonci, known for her work with The Dandy Warhols,Federale (Brian Jonestown Massacre's Collin Hegna), Pete International Airport, Slowdive's Rachel Goswell, and Tombstones In Their Eyes, among others.

Soft Science features Katie Haley (lead vocals, percussion), brothers Matt Levine(lead guitar) and Ross Levine (guitar, backing vocals), partners Tony Cale (drums) and Becky Cale (bass, backing vocals), along with frequent collaborator Hans Munz (electronics).

"‘Without’ is one of my favorite songs on 'Sand'. It drifts slightly outside our usual orbit, built around a lyric that is both simple and quietly expansive: “There are things I do without, there are things that I can be without.” Those few words open a much larger question: in a world always urging us to want more, what can we release?' asked vocalist Katie Haley.

"Maybe it’s the pull of possessions, things in the world beyond our control, or the worry, destructive thoughts, and stressful situations we carry within us. Over the past few years, I’ve become more intentional about what I absorb and what I allow to take root in my mind, protecting space for my mental health and happiness. Sometimes less leaves room for more, and this sonic, psychedelic song floats through that possibility."

Pairing gauzy textures with restless momentum, Soft Science blends dream pop, shoegaze, and indie rock into a sound that is hypnotic, melodic, and emotionally direct, producing lush, transportive songs that balance melody, harmony, and rhythm.

"We used a reversed lead guitar on ‘Spinning,’ then experimented with reversing the rhythm guitars on ‘Without,’ which created a great vibe. Hans’ contribution to the breakdown is also one of the highlights of the entire record. For the ‘Without’ video, we wanted to move beyond a traditional band performance and create a more conceptual piece," explains guitarist Ross Levine.

"Shauna at Shameless Promotion PR connected us with Francesca Bonci, and we love what she created for the song. As we worked through the concept, I suggested incorporating. breakdancing silhouettes, which she wove into the psychedelic, dreamlike sequence. We’re very happy with the result and feel the visuals deepen the experience of the song."

Building on their signature sound, 'Sand' is both intimate and expansive - rooted in melody, atmosphere, and emotional depth. Across these ten songs, they pair shimmering textures with renewed urgency, offering an immersive record that explores the fragile, cyclical nature of love, tracing how relationships can shift beneath our feet while still offering moments of clarity, devotion, hope, and renewal.

Previewed by the singles 'Spinning', 'Understand' and 'Fade', the album emits a strong sense of being stuck in cycles: spinning, circling, repeating old patterns, trying to be heard, trying to understand what went wrong. Propulsive energy, ethereal vocals and luminous guitars unite as Soft Science finds beauty in moments that inevitably slip away.

Critically acclaimed, Soft Science has done live sessions at KEXP, WFMU and Part-Time Punks, and performed at New York Popfest, Paris Popfest, The Big Takeover’s 35th Anniversary show, Schellraiser Festival, Tremolo Fest, Dreamgaze PDX, and other festivals across the USA. Soft Science was also highlighted on Sound Opinions’ “Shoegaze Genre Dissection” as one of the hosts’ recent genre favorites (August 21, 2026, Show 1082).

Soft Science's latest album 'Lines' (2023) was preceded by 'Maps' (2018), 'Detour' (2013), and 'Highs and Lows' (2011), along with a split 7” with The Luxembourg Signal (2015) and The House of Love cover ‘I Don’t Know Why I Love You’ and a rendition of Northern Picture Library's ‘Paris’ (2018). With 'Sand', Soft Science pushes further into the noisier edges of dream pop while preserving the hooks, texture and emotive resonance at the center of their work. Examining how love, memory and identity are shaped by change, they ask what it means to stay connected in an uncertain world.

'Sand' is out September 4 on CD and vinyl, with digital availability through major streaming and download platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Riding the momentum of their debut album, 'Discipline & Punish,' and a year full of touring, Tampa's COLD STEEL now bring their signature aggressive metal sound to Audiotree Live. Drawing on their hometown's deep history of extreme music, the band delivers a punishing mix of hardcore, thrash, and metal that is equal parts aggressive and invigorating.

Formed in 2021, the six-piece, consisting of Jose Menendez (vocals), Rafael “Rafi” Carbonell (guitar), Shawn Wallen (guitar), Janpierre Mojica (bass), Rafael Calderon(guitar), and Brandon Thrift (drums), quickly built a following through their explosive early EPs 'Will of Spiritual Cleansing' (2021) and 'Deeper Into Greater Pain' (2023), which featured fan-favorite tracks like “Bad Beat,” “Evil Eye,” and “Full Tilt.”

Their fourth show ever saw them open for Trivium, thanks to a fan poll vote, and since then, they’ve hit stages with the likes of Obituary and Weekend Nachos. Heilung Release “Læknisgaldr” As Lead Single from Sagas

After a restful hiatus, Heilung is waking up. This month, the world famous ritual collective is entering LAVA Studios to begin recording their highly-anticipated fourth full-length studio album.

While fans around the globe eagerly await their next album, today, Heilung is excited to share the first single from Sagas, a collection of recordings that core members Kai Uwe Faust, Maria Franz and Christopher Juul created in collaboration with Ninja Theory for the award-winning video game Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga. Unreleased until now, “Læknisgaldr” heals afflictions of the mind, body and soul through the simple act of ritual repetition.

“‘Læknisgaldr’ is the first song we are sharing from our in-between albums release Sagas, which collects sounds from the time we traveled to the land of Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga”, Heilung says. ”We see Sagas as its own branch within Heilung’s musical universe. These recordings show a  cinematic, immersive and environmental side of what we do and were shaped very specifically by our work with Ninja Theory and the world of Hellblade.

“The first sound you hear on ‘Læknisgaldr’ was not made by anything from our reality. During the recording process, somehow, while playing with real human bones and breath, we managed to capture a ghost in the studio!” Heilung continues. “The video tells the second part of a greater story about trauma. Like Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga, it deals with what causes trauma to our minds and, most importantly, how to heal it”.

Sagas comes out December 11, 2026 on Season of Mist. The deluxe CD and vinyl editions of Sagas include Ambient, which features eight additional soundscapes that Heilung recorded to draw listeners even deeper into the world of Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga.

Sagas holds a special place in Heilung’s discography. While the recordings capture Senua’s epic journey through 9th-century Iceland, they took on a life of their own after Franz, Faust and Juul returned home inspired from a 10-day trip across the country’s ice caves, rivers, waterfalls, beaches and volcanoes. These forces of nature inspired them to write far more material than could be used in the game, including the new single “Læknisgaldr”.

Heilung envisions “Læknisgaldr” as a song of healing. It is rooted in a belief from the early medieval period that language is connected to the condition of the human body. By naming an affliction, it becomes defined, contained and open to ritual healing. With each repetition of the song’s percussive beat, its affliction weakens, until it is guided toward dissolution by soothing tribal chants.

“In situations that create acute stress, shock or danger, the body releases adrenaline, preparing the muscles to go into a fight-or-flight state or the so-called freeze response”, Heilung core member and throat singer Kai Uwe Faust explains. “In nature, mammals use neurogenic tremors to shake off this built-up adrenaline once the danger has passed”.

“We humans, being socially conditioned, see trembling with fear as a sign of weakness”, Faust continues. “Or we find ourselves in dangerous situations that last for a long time, where the body simply has no chance to release it. As a result, the adrenaline builds up both in the muscles and in the body. Only in a state of absolute safety and security - and often with the help of therapy - does the possibility arise to develop these neurogenic tremors and free the body from the built-up energy. If this energy stays trapped in the body, it can lead to a range of illnesses.

“In the video for ‘Læknisgaldr’, you can see how the warriors reach this feeling of absolute safety and security in the forest after the battle is over. There, with the help of psychedelics, they are guided into the neurogenic tremors”.

The Intemperate Sons Release New Album "Ephemera" via FRAME|WORK

Alt-rockers The Intemperate Sons have released their third studio album, Ephemera, via FRAME|WORK, marking the latest chapter for a band whose music exists at the intersection of atmospheric alternative rock, emotional intensity, and powerful songwriting.

Produced by The Intemperate Sons and Amir Derakh, Ephemera captures the band's ability to balance expansive, immersive soundscapes with deeply personal and introspective songwriting. The album explores themes of memory, change, relationships, loss, and the fleeting nature of the moments that shape our lives.

Ephemera pushes the band into its darkest and heaviest territory yet, blending gothic atmosphere with driving alt-rock. The album takes its name from the Greek for "lasting only a day," and its songs circle the fragile, hungry nature of being alive: the body as a borrowed costume, the masks we wear, the light we can't hold on to, and the things that consume us while we consume them. Previously released singles including "Chew," "Meat Suit," and "The One That Eats You" introduced that theme; Ephemeracompletes it.

At the heart of the album is "Chasing the Shadows of Dragonflies." The dragonfly preys on things that may only last a day, and the song follows the pursuit of something that can never quite be caught, a shadow mistaken for the real thing.

For collectors and longtime fans, physical editions of Ephemera are also on the way. Vinyl and CD editions are scheduled for release in early November, giving fans the opportunity to own the album in physical formats.

Ephemera by The Intemperate Sons is available now via FRAME|WORK. Vinyl and CD editions arrive in early November.

WATCH the Official Music Video for "Chasing the Shadows of Dragonflies" Below:

In the sweltering Dallas summer of 2019, before the onset of a global pandemic, The Intemperate Sons were born from blood, grit, and a shared obsession with the ghosts of alternative rock’s golden age. The Watson family—Keith on drums, Jake on guitars, and Max on vocals, guitars, and keys—joined forces with longtime friend and bassist Mark Marks to create a sound that’s equal parts searing riffs, haunting harmonies, and unapologetic soul. Think Alice in Chains’ brooding intensity, Stone Temple Pilots’swagger, and R.E.M.’s poetic undercurrent, all filtered through a ‘70s rock haze that refuses to play it safe.

This isn’t just a band; it’s a family affair, where the unspoken bond between father and sons fuels every chord and lyric. Keith, a Dallas stage veteran, pens lyrics that cut deep—tales of regret, resilience, and the chaos of the human condition. Jake’s guitar lines, sharp yet soulful, weave narratives of their own, while Max’s voice carries the weight of a 25-year-old who’s lived a lifetime in his head. Mark, the groove-obsessed bassist, ties it all together.

The Intemperate Sons hit the ground running, catching the ear of rock heavyweights Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (Orgy, Dead By Sunrise, Julien-K), who signed them to their Frame|Work label in 2021. Even a global pandemic couldn’t derail their momentum—holed up in The Kitchen Recording Studios, they crafted their debut album, The Color Within (2022), with tracks like “Dust to Dust” and “Running Man” that pulse with raw emotion and retro grit. Collaborations with legends like Tony Franklin (Whitesnake, The Firm) on singles like “Running Man” and “Dust to Dust” and Derakh’s production on singles like “Game of Keep Away” and “Dark Day’s Night” featured on their second and highly successful album, Dark Day’s Night (2024) pushed their sound further, blending post-grunge edge with folk and hard rock undercurrents.

For fans of alternative rock, this band is a throwback and a revelation—a reminder of why you fell in love with the genre’s raw honesty and a promise that its spirit still burns. The Intemperate Sons aren’t chasing trends; they’re carving their own path, one riff, one lyric, one night at a time.performing tracks that scratch deep into the backbone of the human experience. There is no shortage of darkness in their writing style which has a retro vibe with many guitar driven tracks stacked on top of a groovy rhythm section. The heavier style fits perfectly with the two and three-part vocal harmonies that are a huge part of their overall sound. It has been said that musicians that are related form unique sounds and communicate on a frequency only they can understand. This frequency has become engrained in their songwriting, arrangements, guitar melodies and vocal harmonies. The band has been compared to Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and even R.E.M.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

Sat. October 24th @ Los Amigos Sports Bar & Bites in Plano, TX

The Intemperate Sons are:

Max Watson (vocals, backing vocals, guitars, keys, bass)

Jake Watson (guitars, bass and backing vocals)

Extreme Metal Project DREAMS OF GRAY Releases New Single "Edges Of Thought" Ahead Of EP, 'In the Shadow of the Storm'

Watch "Edges Of Thought" BELOW

Balancing extreme metal with captivating melodic elements, DREAMS OF GRAY provides introspection and reflection through storm imagery and metaphors in the forthcoming EP, In The Shadow Of The Storm. The first single "Edges of Thought" explores how fear can cloud rational judgement and lead to inescapable mental torment. In The Shadow Of The Storm will be released independently on November 13, 2026.

In "Edges of Thought," a collision of thrash and melodic death metal, and brief touches of melodic black metal, create a thunderous contrast against melodic hooks, cleaner vocals, and a soaring guitar solo. The musical arrangement is designed to portray a fierce restless energy that encapsulates the core theme of the song.

"Lyrically, 'Edges of Thought' explores anxiety and the way fear can gradually overtake rational thought." Explains project founder Luis Rivera. "What begins as a thought or passing concern can grow until it becomes impossible to distinguish between what is real and what the mind is creating. The shadows in the song represent that looming sense of impending doom—the feeling that something terrible is approaching even when there is no tangible threat. As anxiety builds, reason is pushed toward the edges of thought, eventually giving way to panic."

Written by Luis Rivera (guitar and vocals) and Jess Lai Mieritz (lead guitar), bass on In The Shadow Of The Storm was performed by Maria Kosma, with drums and percussion performed by Juan Cardenas.

Produced by DREAMS OF GRAY, In The Shadow Of The Storm was recorded at Bricktop Recording Chicago, IL. The album was mixed and mastered by Pete Grossman. Cover artwork for In The Shadow Of The Storm is by Athina Efthimiopoulou (@athena.ef).

About DREAMS OF GRAY:
DREAMS OF GRAY was devised by Chicago, IL, based musician and composer Luis Rivera (ABOLISHER) in 2022. In the following year, the project released their critically acclaimed debut EP The World After. DREAMS OF GRAY seeks to draw from the wealth and breadth of metal subgenres to create something distinctive and memorable. The project enables exploration of often dark themes notably, of loss, grief, personal struggles and the shadowy aspects of wider society.

The release of A Beginning in late 2025 saw DREAMS OF GRAY hone their sound further through a developed compositional style that doesn't restrict or confine their creativity. Inspiration is found in the likes of PARADISE LOST, AMORPHIS, IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILITY. DREAMS OF GRAY's music intentionally ebbs and flows dynamically, containing fierce riffs and high energy, as well as a deep focus on melodies and vocal delivery to produce something truly engaging and immersive.

Now preparing to unveil the EP In The Shadow Of The Storm on November 13, 2026, Luis Rivera is joined by guitarist Jess Lai Mieritz on compositional duties, bringing a further collaborative element to the project's sonic style. Revolving around developing imagery of storms and shadows, Rivera explains, "together, the songs explore different kinds of storms—those we experience within ourselves, those that life brings upon us, and those created by the world around us—and the shadows they leave behind."

RELIQA - Announce New Album "High Risk Thoughts" - Stream New Single "Serum"

Australian metalcore quartet RELIQA have today announced their second album High Risk Thoughts, which lands 12th February via Nuclear Blast.

To commemorate the moment, the quartet have also revealed the record's opening track, the titanic 'Serum'.

Watch the video for 'Serum' Below :

Pre-order High Risk Thoughts:
https://reliqa.bfan.link/high-risk-thoughts

The band comment: "'Serum'’s sound represents a sort of bridge from where we were to where we are now, so it felt apt to have it not only open the new record but also mark its announcement to the world. It's low and menacing with a mechanical edge (heavily inspired by the Danish prog legends VOLA), but we’ve also loaded it with some fun twists and turns, all part of our long-held goal to condition our listeners to expect the unexpected and be open-minded. This is the only song on the record that we’ve been consistently playing live for some time now and the reception has been full of energy, giving us high hopes for the rest of the album’s verdict."

RELIQA's debut full-length, Secrets of the Future (2024) was a wonderfully compelling and thoughtful look at what may be possible for the Sydney modern metalcore upstarts. Since then, so much of what they hoped would take place, has.

Racking up over four million streams on Secrets of the Future alone, cementing themselves as a mainstay in the Australian heavy scene, touring nationally with Northlane, Periphery, performing at Good Things and Life's A Beach festivals, and, most importantly, finding their feet as a headlining band, the quartet reached a level that had been the aim ever since they were kids.

Now, the band stand on the edge of a precipice, ready to release their incredible second album High Risk Thoughts. An album that is not just a cementing of so many of the factors that have allowed RELIQA to get to this point, but a mature extension and thrilling expansion of who and what they want to be as they move forward.

Musically, it looks to the greats of the modern genre. Shimmering with the ethereal tranquillity and gorgeous melodic control of Spiritbox at their most open; flickering with the pulsating synths and heightened tension underpinning Northlane; engaging with the forward-moving embracing of change of Bring Me The Horizon - High Risk Thoughts is an album that reaches for the stars.

Lyrically, it builds on the idea that we should give ourselves more grace in the life we are living. A sense of love, understanding and patience embedded into every crystalline refrain and soaring chorus. A reminder that by even considering how to make even more of a splash than you already have, you have already won, and that should be noted and celebrated, no matter where it lands you.

Together, it creates a record as inspiring as it is intense, as spine-tingling as it is sincere, as boundless as it is bludgeoning. A significant factor in keeping everything in check is that the band continues to keep things close to home and DIY at heart.

RELIQA will be touring North America for the very first time, in support of NORTHLANE (dates listed below). As they transform from Australia's best-kept secret to one of their most exhilarating, exuberant and electric exports, RELIQA are fast becoming the figurehead to show what doing things your own way can achieve.

Alt-rock icon CHRIS CONNELLY teases 'Bye Bye Johnny Viola' (on JOHN CALE) ahead of new album celebrating LOU REED

Iconic Scottish-born Chicago-based artist Chris Connelly will be releasing his new album 'Doo Wop In The Dark: A Portrait of Lou Reed' via Shipwrecked Industries with distribution by Virtual Label. This colossal 21-track offering is a bombastic reflection on artistic inheritance, tracing how Reed’s restless, confrontational sensibility helped shape Connelly’s own creative identity.

Ahead of that, Connelly presents 'Bye Bye Johnny Viola', following the lead tracks 'Nothin' But A Rock Song' and 'House of 70's'. He explains, "'Bye Bye Johnny Viola' is a postmortem on John Cale being fired from the Velvet Underground. Like'House of 70's', the timeline whirls with events of the time: it's 1968, Valerie Solanas has shot Andy Warhol, 'White Light/White Heat' was a sonic hammer on the hippie dream, and Lou sent Sterling Morrison round to John's apartment to fire him."

'Doo Wop In The Dark: A Portrait of Lou Reed' presents a unique mix, including Lou Reed compositions -- spanning his career from the Velvet Underground onwards -- and songs penned by Connelly, detailing the creative and often turbulent path of Reed's life from his teenage years through to his death in 2013.

Moving between tenderness, menace, alienation, decadence and damaged beauty, Reed is treated not simply as an influence to be celebrated, but as a catalyst for an entire way of making music. The result is both deeply personal and deliberately expansive: a record about finding your own voice by wrestling with the voices that came before you, and about how an artist’s work can become part of another's emotional and creative vocabulary.

'Doo Wop In The Dark' echoes Connelly's acclaimed 2022 album 'Eulogy to Christa: A Tribute to the Music & Mystique of Nico' - one of the most unique, tragic and misunderstood female artists in the history of modern music. Similarly, this new album is dedicated to the wildfire, tempestuous spirit of Lewis Allan Reed (a.k.a. Lou Reed), as well as Chris's dear friend Zak Boerger (1973 -2025).

While mostly produced by Connelly and his Sons of the Silent Age bandmate Alan Holden Berliant, four tracks from this album were produced by Chris Bruce (Meshell Ndegeocello, Seal, Aaron Neville, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys, Sheryl Crow). Mixed by Berliant and Bruce from 2023 to 2026, this record was mastered by James Scott at Populist Recording & Mastering.

Connelly shares a story to highlight the meaning of this album to him:
"The kid was out shopping with his mother: a mandated, boring, endless Saturday afternoon. Spring, maybe summer, 1974. Downtown Edinburgh, some department store. On Princes Street, she shopped; he wandered aimlessly from the toys to the records. He was too old for toys, and didn’t really care about records – not yet – but something caught his nine year-old eye: a nightmarish yet beautiful photo of a strange yellow ghost. Not man not woman, all ghost, as yellow as the sodium street light that illuminated the streets there at night. The ghost seemed to be dancing, arms aloft, blurry jewelry, black lips, dead eyes. It was the Rock N Roll animal.

Fast forward to 2026, and 52 years later the same kid is still obsessed with the same photo. The same kid ended up buying the record in the late 70s or early 80s when he was informed by everything that this untamable spirit was every bit the drug dervish, serpent king of NYC, and the encapsulation and custodian of all the real rock myths, along with Iggy, Bowie, and The Dolls."

That kid is Chris Connelly, who now brings us 'Doo Wop In The Dark' -- arguably his finest work to date -- along with supporting videos, select live dates, and sleeve notes by Lou Reed biographer Aidan Levy (author of https://aidan-levy.com/books/).

An alternative music icon, Connelly has been making music for over four decades. Since his days with Fini Tribe, he has consistently pushed the creative envelope through such projects as Ministry, The Revolting Cocks and Pigface, as well as his solo work (with over 20 releases) or the four books he has authored. 2025 brought Fini Tribe's 3-disc anthology "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987', preceded by 'The Lives and Loves of the Serial Homesick, Vol. 1', an album dedicated to his beloved Edinburgh and 'The Birthday Poems' featuring Monica Queen (Belle and Sebastian, Thrum).

On October 16th, 'Doo Wop In The Dark' will be released everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Bandcamp, where it is also available as a limited edition two-CD set. A selection of tracks is also being made available on vinyl.

GAVIN ADCOCK EXTENDS THE DAY I HANG IT UP TOUR INTO 2027

On the heels of the release of his third major label album in three years, Georgia native Gavin Adcock announces new dates for The Day I Hang It Up 2027 Tour, with support from Blake Whiten on all dates. Artist pre-sale begins tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13 at 10am local time. Sign up for pre-sale access at GavinAdcockMusic.com. Public on sale begins this Friday, October 16 at 10am local time.

Following performances in Australia in March, Adcock will embark on the second leg of his headlining The Day I Hang It Up Tour on April 1, kicking off at Gatton Park in Lexington, KY, followed by two nights at The Factory in St. Louis, MO and stops in eight additional cities, including Oklahoma City, OK, Richmond, VA and Baltimore, MD.

The Day I Hang It Up spans 26 tracks produced by Jay Rogers, with Adcock featured as a co-writer on all but four songs, as The Tennessean observes he “moves between country rock, traditional country, heartbreak and quieter reflections on what happens when the life you chased starts taking you away from the one you knew,” while FOX News lauds, “Expectations were high. Expectations are now met.”

Holler praises with his “raw, relatable persona, often drawing comparisons to country legends like Trace Adkins and Waylon Jennings, Adcock lies somewhere between head-banging rock and twangy country.”

The Day I Hang It Up follows the momentum of Own Worst Enemy, which debuted as the top new Country album on the Billboard Top 200 Country Chart AND the top streaming new album on the Billboard 200 All-Genre Chart week of release (Aug. 15, 2025). That rapid rise followed Adcock’s 2024 major-label debut Actin’ Up Again, which earned more than 15 million on-demand U.S. streams during its release week, making it the highest-streaming major-label Country debut from a solo male artist that year and 2024’s top streaming major-label debut across the entire genre.

ARISING EMPIRE MEDIA ALERT: New Music From TOK WATCH + LISTEN

German modern metal force TOK (The Oklahoma Kid) continue their uncompromising new chapter with the release of their crushing new single "BURNOUT," out now via Arising Empire.

Following the explosive arrival of "SPIT," "BURNOUT" pushes TOK even further into the raw, confrontational territory that defines this new era of the band. Built around punishing riffs, relentless grooves and an undeniable sense of urgency, the track channels frustration with a world designed to keep people moving, producing and obeying until there is nothing left to give.

At its core, "BURNOUT" is a refusal to play along. Taking aim at empty promises, forced conformity and the pressure to stay in line, the song captures the moment when exhaustion turns into resistance. Rather than accepting a system that demands people sacrifice their individuality in pursuit of an increasingly hollow idea of success, TOK push back with a simple message: break away before someone else gets the chance to define who you are.

Musically, "BURNOUT" is TOK at their most immediate and aggressive. Huge riffs collide with pounding rhythms, volatile vocals and an infectious groove-heavy approach, carrying the rebellious spirit of the ’90s and early 2000s into the band’s own unmistakably modern sound. It is direct, confrontational and built for impact, without sacrificing the technical precision and adventurous songwriting that have always set The Oklahoma Kid apart.

With Tobias Rische, formerly of ALAZKA and Novelists, now fronting the band, TOK have entered an exciting new phase of their career. His arrival has brought a new vocal intensity and attitude to a band already known for constantly challenging the boundaries of modern heavy music, while their renewed sonic and visual identity feels more instinctive, abrasive and fearless than ever before.

Formed in Germany in 2012, The Oklahoma Kid have spent more than a decade carving out their own space within the European heavy scene. Across releases including their debut album Solarray, its ambitious follow-up Tangerine Tragic and 2024’s Featherminded EP, the band have consistently evolved their sound, combining technical precision, crushing heaviness, massive grooves and experimentation rather than settling into conventional metalcore formulas.

Along the way, TOK have shared stages with international heavyweights including Hatebreed, Stick To Your Guns, Carnifex and Evergreen Terrace, establishing themselves as a formidable live act and one of Germany’s most distinctive modern metal exports.

Now, that experience is feeding into something new. Where "SPIT" introduced a darker and more fearless incarnation of the band, "BURNOUT" kicks the door wide open, presenting TOK with renewed focus, aggression and confidence.
No more gods. No more kings. No more chains.

With "BURNOUT," TOK refuse to carry the weight any longer.

ARISING EMPIRE MEDIA ALERT: New Music From Hopsydian, WATCH + LISTEN

Following its digital arrival earlier this year, Italian rising metalcore force HOPSYDIAN are giving their striking debut EP A Graceful Sin a physical form. Set for release on October 9 via Arising Empire, the EP will be available on gold vinyl and CD, accompanied by exclusive new merchandise.

Already surpassing one million streams, A Graceful Sin introduced HOPSYDIAN as one of the most intriguing new names emerging from the European heavy scene. Across five tracks – "GLARE," "DEVOTE," "SIGHT," "ELYSIUM," and "HEAVENLY" — the Milan-based band create a world that feels as much like a ceremony as a conventional metalcore record.

Watch the video for "HEAVENLY" below.

Epic, dark and deeply atmospheric, A Graceful Sin exists in the space between worship and transgression. Its songs explore devotion, love, obsession, sin and the seductive desire to transcend human limitations, constantly playing with opposing forces: holiness and corruption, light and shadow, beauty and brutality. The gold that dominates the record’s visual identity becomes a symbol of the divine, while something darker continually lurks beneath its surface.

Musically, HOPSYDIAN translate that duality into enormous cinematic soundscapes. Delicate melodies and shimmering electronics give way to crushing guitars, explosive dynamics and towering, chant-ready choruses, combining modern metalcore with elements of alt-metal and post-hardcore. The result is simultaneously intimate and monumental, creating an almost ritualistic atmosphere that runs through the entire EP.

It is a remarkably defined identity for a band still at the beginning of its story. Formed in Milan in 2024, HOPSYDIAN consist of vocalist Myles Idolo, guitarists Loris Ronchi and Nikolay Deliyski, and bassist Roberto Vezi, while the identity of their drummer remains deliberately concealed. Even their name reflects the contrasts at the heart of the project: HOPSYDIAN combines Hope and Obsidian, representing resilience and rebirth alongside darkness and shadow. Benjamin Wilson of Caskets also helped the band develop the artistic direction surrounding the project.

Despite their young history, HOPSYDIAN have already made an impression far beyond the studio. The band made their live debut on the main stage of Slam Dunk Italy in 2025, sharing the bill with acts including LANDMVRKS, A Day To Remember, and Caskets, before later supporting Caskets in Milan. In 2026, their rapid ascent continued with an appearance at Germany’s Summer Breeze Open Air, while their growing streaming numbers underline the momentum surrounding the band.

Now, A Graceful Sin receives the physical treatment its carefully constructed visual and sonic world demands. Available as a striking gold 12" vinyl, CD digisleeve and alongside an exclusive Angel T-Shirt, the release transforms HOPSYDIAN’s collision of gold, divinity, darkness and modern heaviness into something tangible.

With A Graceful Sin, HOPSYDIAN have done more than introduce their sound. They have created a world of their own – cinematic, spiritual, seductive and devastatingly heavy – and established themselves as one of the most exciting new names to watch in modern European metalcore.

HOPSYDIAN LIVE:
12/8 — Paderno Dugnano, IT — Sace6 + Hopsydian + Love Is Noise
