CORELEONI - Live At Hallenstadion Zurich (out on December 12, 2025)

Swiss hard rock veterans CORELEONI, featuring members of GOTTHARD, are proud to unleash their new live album, Live At Hallenstadion Zurich, via Perception. Featuring a mix of classic GOTTHARD tracks and new favorites from CORELEONI’s latest studio album, IIILive At Hallenstadion Zurich documents a pivotal night in the CORELEONI saga.

One hot summer evening on July 3rd 2025, CORELEONI supported heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST at Zurich’s Hallenstadion, performing in front of 7,000 rock and metal fans. The show took the audience on a wild ride through classic GOTTHARD tracks and newer songs from III. An instant success, III had reached #2 on the Swiss album charts and found a place in the hearts of fans around the world. New tracks such as “Like It Or Not” and “Sick & Tired” became staple crowd-pleasers, right alongside beloved fan favorites such as “Sister Moon”, “Mountain Mama”, and “Standing In The Light”.

On Live At Hallenstadion Zurich, the band delivers nine songs in total and kicks off the show with two high-energy classics, “Downtown” and “Firedance”. “We wanted to go out and rock the shit out of our body”, explains guitarist Leo Leoni. Fellow guitarist Igor Gianola adds, “It seems we succeeded. The crowd was fantastic and we were able to deliver a great performance, as we wanted.”

CORELEONI’s energy and the audience’s passion electrified the show. “The night was fantastic”, remembers Leoni. “There was this special magic in the air, Zürich is always fantastic for us to play, but this was somehow a night to remember.”

The band also recalls fond memories of the bonds they forged with metal veterans JUDAS PRIEST, making the show a particularly notable highlight in CORELEONI’s career. “At the Hallenstadion we met Scott Travis on stage, who was there the whole show, and he spent some very nice words about our performance. He’s a great guy and a fantastic drummer, so we appreciated and proved our effort to get it right to the point”, recalls Gianola.

“It was an honour for us to support Judas Priest, they are one of the most important metal bands and I follow them also since I was a kid. It wasn’t the first time we played together, but especially in this location, it was like a mythos”, comments Leo Leoni.

Experience the magic of this unforgettable night right through your speakers or headphones.

About CORELEONI
Founded by guitarist Leo Leoni in 2018, CORELEONI started reviving the early GOTTHARD days successfully with their album duo consisting of The Greatest Hits - Part 1 and II. The band also convinced fans and critics alike with their high-energy performances all over Europe, making the five-piece write their very own material. The result titled III was finally released in early 2022 and saw the addition of gifted Albanian singer Eugent Bushpepa to CORELEONI’s powerful line-up, which is completed by guitarist Jgor Gianola (ex-GOTTHARD, ex-U.D.O.), bass player Mila Merker and drummer Alex Motta. The group’s latest record hit the official Swiss album chart at no. 2 and thereby cemented the high demand for their captivating craft. Of course, III guided the quintet’s way across the continent once again while making one thing even clearer: CORELEONI are more than just a studio band and need to be experienced (a)live to understand their vision in full. So what are you waiting for? Feel the magic & enjoy their second live offering, Live at Hallenstadion Zurich!

REMEMBER THE MONSTERS Unveil New Single “INFECTED"

"INFECTED" expresses a powerful mix of internal suffering, emotional numbness, societal disillusionment, and ultimately, a desperate plea for awakening and self liberation.

It’s about hitting rock bottom mentally and emotionally and realizing the need to rise, see the truth, and take back control from the forces internal or external that have taken

over our lives.

As we put the music video together, I loved the characters inspired by John Carpenter’s “They Live” as a metaphor for the monster in each of us that can only be seen in glimpses and when you are aware of them

ABOUT THE BAND:

Founded in 2016 by guitarist Ashten Banks, Remember the Monsters quickly garnered attention with their debut single "The Pieces Remain", produced by Cameron Mizell (Memphis May Fire, Sleeping With Sirens). The band’s early years were marked by evolution and experimentation, including the release of 2019 singles “Sink” and “Close Encounters”, featuring vocalist Julian Comeau who later went on to form the acclaimed band Loveless.

Following a brief hiatus, Remember the Monsters returned in 2022 with renewed energy and a fresh creative direction. The lineup was solidified with the addition of powerhouse vocalist Andrew de Neef, formerly of Actual Villains and Close to Home (Razor & Tie Records / Artery Recordings). The group was completed in 2025 with the addition of drummer Elias Mallin know for his work with bands and artists like Filter, Noah Cyrus, Kesha & more.

To further shape their cinematic and genre-blending sound, Ashten collaborated with producer Matt Good, known for his work with Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead, and Sleeping With Sirens.

The Pretty Wild Unleash New Track "AFTERLIFE (feat. Magnolia Park)" + Official Visualizer via Sumerian Records

Rising metaphysical metalcore powerhouse The Pretty Wild has unleashed their latest offering, "AFTERLIFE (feat. Magnolia Park)" and the accompanying visualizer (via Sumerian Records). The track can be found in the band's forthcoming full-length 'zero.point.genesis', out Friday, November 21. Other tracks on the album include previously released bangers "PARADOX", "OMENS""Button Eyes""living ded", and the smash-hit "sLeepwALKeR" (as a physical bonus track). The songs so far have amassed over 23 million streams on Spotify alone and 3 million views on YouTube and counting. Speaking about today's drop, the band commented:

"'AFTERLIFE' circles the idea of star-crossed souls bound by something ancient and unbreakable. Conceptually it’s plucked from the kind of love you find in mythology and old tragedies, where you have this obsessive devotion and destruction. It isn’t perfect, but it's dark, beautiful, and eternal." -jules

"'AFTERLIFE' explores the idea that love dynamics are rooted in codependent magnetism and resonance patterns. it asks, what happens when obsession doesn’t end with death, but carries ur soul into magnetizing eternal dynamics? the result is kinda tragic and romantically glitchy. it’s basically a pop-metal requiem." -jyl

Stream "AFTERLIFE (feat. Magnolia Park)" here, watch the official visualizer below, and pre-save 'zero.point.genesis' here.

After wrapping up a recent run with Sleep Theory earlier this month, fans will next have their chance to see The Pretty Wild hit the stage across the US alongside Set It Off, Fame On Fire, and VANA, starting Tuesday, October 28 in Atlanta, Georgia. For ticket information, please click here.

The Hirsch Effekt Announce Versatile New Album "Der Brauch" Out 1/30 + Share Title Track

Since their formation, The Hirsch Effekt have carved out a unique niche in the German-speaking music scene.

Yet, despite — or perhaps because of — their elusiveness, the band has captivated a devoted audience. Musically, The Hirsch Effekt have always embraced limitless possibilities. Acoustic, introspective moments — where bassist Ilja John Lappinbrings out his cello or guitarist Nils Wittrock returns to his classical roots — sit naturally alongside massive progressive metal onslaughts.

Today, the trio from Hanover, Germany, announced its seventh studio album, Der Brauch, out January 30 via Long Branch Records. At the same time, the band is giving fans a taste of the new work with the release of the title track.

Watch the visualizer for "Der Brauch" below.

Stream the new single and pre-order the album here

While earlier works, despite their diversity, were still labeled "metal albums," this new record explores paths first hinted at on the multi-layered second album, Holon: Anamnesis — the same album that fans of VISIONS magazine voted the only German-language entry among the 20 best albums of all time. Der Brauch can be seen as a return to that pivotal point — and simultaneously as a bold step forward. Drummer Moritz Schmidt doesn't entirely forego blast beats, but the record demands a new heading. In the end, though, there is only one truth: It unmistakably sounds like The Hirsch Effekt.

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT ARE:
Nils Wittrock — Guitar, Vocals
Ilja John Lappin — Bass, Vocals
Moritz Schmidt — Drums, Vocals

Oakland's Sword Tongue unveils 'Murder White Noise', showcasing 'Bonfire In The Tempest' EP

Oakland alt-rock trio Sword Tongue presents 'Murder White Noise', a wry commentary on the state of the world and our attempts to soothe ourselves to get through it. The latest offering from their explosive 'Bonfire In The Tempest' EP - their fourth to date.

In an increasingly stressful world, this song explores how people try to externalize their anxieties by consuming content that allows them to feel better about their own lives. We attempt to cope with the pressure of maintaining equilibrium by coming together to grieve, worry, and comfort each other, often finding that the only way to feel good about our lives is to reflect on others' misfortunes.

Creating dark music for dark times, Sword Tongue is vocalist Jennifer Wilde and guitarist Gaetano Maleki, a husband and wife who launched this project in the pandemic year of 2020, now joined by renowned drummer-producer Dan Milligan.

“I started consuming true crime content as a way to turn off the thoughts that kept me awake at night and distracted me during the day. One day I told a friend I was a listening to a livestreamed trial where a lady put her husband on a burn pile. She said “WHOAH, what is that, murder white noise?” As I told people about the song, I found many others watch crime stories as a release from their stressful lives. It is important to bring that into the conversation about how we are coping today,” says Jennifer Wilde.

"Finding comfort in tragedy is new for me; during the pandemic and especially in the last year I find myself needing to look for reassurance that whatever I am facing is not as bad as it could be. 'Murder White Noise' was written as a way to come to grips that someone else's pain is that content, and what that says about where we are as a society right now. Gaetano wrote the perfect guitar line that hooks you in to get to the truth of the song."

On 'Murder White Noise', soothing vocals contrast with the song's macabre lyrical content, while steadily thrumming instrumentation lulls you into a false sense of security.  For a moment, the listener feels heard and encouraged, then questions their own motivations, left to wonder whether they are now the tragic victim in this story.

"From a songwriting perspective, this pulled a lot of anxiety out of me," says Gaetano Maleki. "While writing the guitar and bass lines, I wanted to bring out tension to mirror the vocals, but with some kind of seductive undertones. I feel the instruments really complement the lyrics, like a hard boiled soundtrack."

Showcased by 'We Are The Resistance' and 'Diamonds To Rust', this EP was galvanized during our current age of cultural upheaval. Bursting with raw emotion and tempered by sophisticated production, this collection blends alt-rock, post-punk and dream pop, giving voice to anguish, anger, transformation and triumph. Vocal lines that oscillate between a croon and a roar, seduction and rage, while shimmering guitar tones and bass lines mesmerize and intricate drum lines drive the message.

This EP was produced by Dan Milligan, brainchild of The Joy Thieves, who has co-created, produced and remixed such artists as Chris Connelly, PIG and Consolidated, and members of such bands as Ministry, Stabbing Westward, The Rollins Band, Killing Joke, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, among others.

The 'Bonfire In The Tempest' EP is out now as a first-print red variant cassette, including a special album poem inside, and als

Ian Munsick Releases Ozzy Osbourne Tribute, “No More Tears (Live From Sturgis)”

While Ian Munsick has been critically celebrated by HITS Daily Double and The New Yorker for putting the “western back in country,” the Wyoming native is also known for genre-bending covers during his live show, showcasing his range of influences with his rendition of girl pop hits including Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” and classics such as Neil Young’s “Old Man.” Most recently, Munsick went viral for an Ozzy Osbourne tribute, performing “No More Tears” in honor of the rock legend who passed away earlier this year. Munsick knew he had something special due to fans’ reactions – and today is releasing his live recording of the song.

Listen to “No More Tears (Live From Sturgis)” Below

Ozzy’s influence on Munsick began at an early age, as Munsick recalls, “When I was 8 years old, I stumbled upon my older brother’s CD collection. I sneakily slid out a black colored album with a small tan cross on top and threw it in my walkman CD player (shout out the early 2000’s). One of the most iconic bass riffs of all time captured my ears right out of the gate, followed by the most recognizable voice in all of Rock n Roll. It was Ozzy’s 1991 hit song ‘No More Tears.’”

Doing the cover of “No More Tears” in Nebraska upon the singer’s death in July came together by happenstance. Munsick shares, “23 years later, I’m on stage sound checking in Kearney, Nebraska when out of the air and into my fingers comes that same iconic bass riff. My band quickly followed suit and we jammed a verse and chorus before moving on to our normal soundcheck routine. I headed back to the bus to catch a quick nap before the long night ahead when breaking news hit my phone… ‘RIP Ozzy.’ The universe was telling me to play that song that night, so we quickly worked up a fiddle heavy version of the heavy metal hit.

“As our 90 minute show was coming to end, I nervously looked at my drummer to count me in for our tribute to the Ozzman,” he adds. “The bass riff captured the country audience as they erupted with joy and sadness all at once. After the show, social media did its thing and made our cover of ‘No More Tears’ the most viral moment I’ve had thus far in my career. I knew we had to release a version exactly like the one we played in Nebraska that night. Luckily, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was the following weekend... what better atmosphere to play some Ozzy? This time, we hit record.”

Munsick recently set The Eagle Flies Free Tour for 2026. Beginning February 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the tour will feature 17 dates with special guests Lanie Gardner, Ben Haggard, Tyler Nance and Jake Worthington, highlighting one of the most distinctive voices in modern country music – and his distinctive modern-Western style.

The follow up to his 2025 Eagle Feather album, Munsick’s The Eagle Flies Free Tour continues a streak of touring success for the native son of Sheridan, Wyoming – including a history making turn at the famous Cheyenne Frontier Days in July.

Headlining the iconic rodeo and Western lifestyle celebration, Munsick became the first Wyoming native to secure top-billing of the event’s musical lineup, playing songs from across his three albums – Coyote Cry, White Buffalo and Eagle Feather.

Excide Share "Call Box" Video

EXCIDE  Tyler Washington, Gill Gonzalez, Gage Lanza, Caleb Hogue, and Jacob Paris — will drop their second album Bastard Hymns on November 28 via SharpTone Records. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band unleashes "Call Box."

Watch the video below.

"'Call Box' was the 'click' moment for the record," says Washington. "Though it formed from a later demo, it's the song that most coherently synthesized every component of our desired outcome, and ended up being sort of the stencil we worked backwards from when in pre-production for the LP. I've referenced them previously but it's got ALL the goodies derived from our influences. The Cast Iron Hike-sort of grooves in the verses, the fuzzy Queens of the Stone Age bridge, and the HUGE ending that nods to the greats in Failure."

He finishes, "This song is Excide at its purest and best form to-date. No doubt a favorite on the record, and the perfect conclusion for it. It's my 'F*** you, thanks for the inspiration' song."

Bastard Hymnsis the logical next step from the band's debut album, Deliberate Revolver. "Having felt like we accomplished what we came to do on the first record, there were no guidelines or barriers around where we were to go next. This opened up so many avenues for our creativity and exploration. We were lucky enough to begin working with SharpTone the following year, which put the band back in gear and opened up new possibilities for the path forward."

Sonically, the band was inspired by the grooves and energy of late '90s post-hardcore bands such as Cast Iron Hike and Snapcase, while siphoning melody and textural elements much the same as Quicksand and Cave In. The band was not afraid to shift gears a bit and take influence from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Soundgarden, and Failure, which, Excide admit, " allowed us to really push the sonic needle into uncharted territory, even further accentuated by Austin Coupe's co-writing and production."

Overall, the album is a "fuzzy, rocky, groovy, angry record. Seeped in the woes of growing up in a hillbilly hellscape, and living to tell the tale. The result wasBastard Hymns."

Enthroned Release Scorching New Single "Ashspawn"

Belgian black metal institution Enthroned are opening a new chapter in their storied career with their upcoming twelfth album, which now stands as their most ferocious and personal work. Written in collaboration with occult author Gilles de Laval, Ashspawndescends into spiritual death, only to emerge reborn amongst the flames.

More than three decades after their inception, Enthroned remain steadfast in their purpose: not to replicate the past, but to realign with the forces that birthed them. Ashspawn is the testimony of this alignment, a ritual weapon that rejects nostalgia and compromise. It is a resurrection of spirit through suffering, a reaffirmation of Enthroned’s place among black metal’s most visionary entities.

See Hellish Sanguisugabogg Billboard + "Hideous Aftermath" Out Now

Boundary-pushing brutalists (and recent Decibel cover stars) Sanguisugabogg — Cody Davidson, drums; Drew Arnold, bass/guitars; Devin Swank, vocals; and Ced Davis, bass/guitars —have unleashed their new album Hideous Aftermath via Century Media. Get it here

In the band's home base of Columbus, OH, a "hellish" billboard promoting the album has been unveiled, and it's located right across the street from the capitol building. It parodies the infamous "Hell is Real" billboards that were erected across the state in 2004 as a measure to promote Christianity to motorists.

"To have our logo plastered on a billboard just across our state capitpl building should be considered vandalism in some way," the band theorizes. "This is so cool. Thank you to Century Media for giving OUR city the sickest merch it could ever receive."

Known for being THAT band with the unpronounceable name and unreadable logos, the 'Bogg have made a record as gore-obsessed and violence-inclined as any of their prior works, including Tortured Whole (2021) and Homicidal Ecstasy(2023), but with a career-defining command over their ugly art. Says Swank, "It's the one where we rolled our sleeves up and brought our A-Game."

Hideous Aftermath is the work of a band who has already cut a bloody swath into the underground and beyond. Sanguisugabogg have emerged from the sweat and grime of countless U.S. and international tours with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Lorna Shore, and Kublai Kahn as well as festival slots and their own headline runs. They've ensnared scores of new converts to their brand of the brutally absurd.

Now in 2025, the 'Bogg's third full length leaves any "caveman death metal" tags in the dust. This is the sound of Sanguisugabogg flexing every muscle they have.

Enlisting producer Kurt Ballou (Nails, High on Fire) the 'Bogg decamped to God City Studios in Salem, Massachusetts in the Spring of 2025. "We got off the road after A LOT of touring and wanted to drill down and be as purely creative as possible without distraction," says Swank of the band's decision to work with the Converge guitarist in Witch City. "Kurt mixed Homicidal Ecstasy, so he already understood what we were going for."

While Sanguisugabogg have long been self-produced with Davidson handling production duties, this time, they put their sonic trust fully in Ballou's hands.

With Hideous Aftermath, Sanguisugabogg have proven themselves more than just an eccentric death crew on an acid-addled hateroll. They're both champions of the underground and a musical force unto themselves. "Eight or nine years ago, it seemed like what we were doing was pretty niche," Swank admits. "Where we've come, some of the rooms and festivals we've played is kind of remarkable." Big swings including recent appearances on more "mainstream" rock festivals including Columbus' Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona, Florida, were never on the 'Bogg boys' charter underground agenda.

"I think we were a band that was set up to do nothing or a lot of something," Swank concludes. "Why 'normies' ever ended up liking it was weird. Who knows? Maybe we made pain and suffering fun."

Sanguisugabogg will be touring this November on a headline run, with Despised Icon, Defeated Sanity, and Corpsepile as support. All dates are below.

CLOCKTOWERS Unleash Hypnotic New Single “Bend the Snake” from Upcoming Album Genesis

Rising modern rock outfit CLOCKTOWERS returns with their electrifying new single, “Bend the Snake,” a hypnotic and emotionally charged track from their forthcoming album Genesis. Blending metal’s modern edge with the soul of 70s rock, CLOCKTOWERS continues to cement their reputation as one of the most genre-bending acts in today’s rock scene.

From the moment the guitars kick in, “Bend the Snake” commands attention with a pair of interlaced riffs, equal parts intricate and infectious, that merge into an upbeat, snakecharmer-like groove. The rhythm section follows suit, with smooth basslines and tight drum work accentuating the hypnotic pulse of the song. When Tarek Puska’s baritone vocals enter, they carry a sense of authority and depth, enveloping each lyric in controlled intensity.

The harmonies complement the guitarwork with wit and skill, while the chorus fuses the grit of modern metal with the swagger of 70s rock. Midway through, the track takes a sharp, exhilarating detour into classic rock territory, echoing the free-spirited stylings of the band Free.

Lyrically, “Bend the Snake” ventures into mystical and philosophical territory. Penned by Dakota Logan, the song explores themes of illusion, reality, and the hidden forces shaping the world.

About CLOCKTOWERS:

CLOCKTOWERS is a genre-blending rock/metal duo that proves lightning can strike twice—first in the past, then in the most unexpected moment years later. The band was officially born in 2022, but the story begins long before that.

Vocalist Tarek Puska and multi-instrumentalist Dakota Logan first crossed paths in an earlier metal outfit that spent five years grinding through shows, songwriting sessions, and the chaotic rhythm of band life. Life eventually pulled them in different directions—but fate clearly had other plans. Years later, in the unassuming town of Reily, Ohio, the two reconnected by chance at a local pizza joint. A quick conversation turned into a jam session. One riff became a song—“Spirit Junkie”—and by the end of that session, CLOCKTOWERS had begun.

What followed was a creative eruption. Tarek and Dakota fell into a regular routine, meeting 2 to 3 days per week to write, explore sounds, and record from the ground up in a DIY home studio setting. Over the next two years, this process grew into their debut full-length album, Genesis—a record that pulses with heavy riffs, soaring melodies, and the kind of authenticity that only comes from lived experience and musical trust.

At its core, CLOCKTOWERS thrives on contrast and chemistry. Tarek, born in 1969, brings a lifetime of hard-earned perspective and vocal power rooted in classic metal and rock traditions. Dakota, born in 1995, injects fresh energy, fearless experimentation, and a modern edge that pushes the sound into uncharted territory. Their 25-year age gap isn’t a limitation—it’s a superpower. It allows the band to seamlessly blend old-school grit with new-school fire, delivering music that’s nostalgic without being dated, current without being trendy.

CLOCKTOWERS draws inspiration from a wide palette of heavy music: the swagger and electricity of AC/DC, the doom-soaked weight of BLACK SABBATH, the eerie theatricality of GHOST, the brooding darkness of TYPE O NEGATIVE, the bombast of KISS, and the razor-sharp muscle of METALLICA. Yet, these aren’t just influences—they’re launch pads. CLOCKTOWERS takes what’s familiar and twists it into something personal and raw, layering in textures, emotions, and hooks that make their sound unmistakable.

The band’s songwriting is deeply intentional. Some tracks stem directly from personal experience—loss, growth, heartbreak, and perseverance—while others flow from instinct and emotion, letting the pen follow the pulse of the heart. The result is music that hits hard not just sonically, but emotionally. Big choruses, pounding grooves, and intricate guitar work are matched with lyrics that are introspective, honest, and often cathartic.

One of their standout tracks, “Ashes,” caught the attention of Jason Viebrooks, known for his work with HEATHEN, GRIP INC., and now EXHORDER. Viebrooks lent his talents on bass and guitar alongside Dakota for the single, while Todd J. Farler, a seasoned drummer from Cincinnati, added a thunderous groove that elevated the track even further. It’s the only track on the record that features guest musicians—every other note, riff, and lyric on Genesis comes straight from the two founding members. That was a deliberate decision. CLOCKTOWERS is about preserving a raw, undiluted vision. No filler. No compromises.

With Genesis, CLOCKTOWERS has positioned itself not just as a band, but as a statement—a declaration that real, passionate, no-bullshit rock and metal is alive, evolving, and still capable of hitting you straight in the soul. Whether you’re a lifer raised on vinyl and leather jackets, or a newcomer looking for authenticity in a crowded digital landscape, CLOCKTOWERS offers something that resonates.

This is music forged in connection. Fueled by memory. Driven by instinct. And played with the kind of conviction that can only come from two people who live and breathe it.

CLOCKTOWERS is:

  • Tarek Puska – Vocals

  • Dakota Logan – All instruments (guitars, bass, additional production)

TOMBS Streams New Album 'Feral Darkness' Ahead of Release

New Jersey experimental metal collective TOMBS is now streaming their new full-length, 'Feral Darkness,' in its entirety via Decibel Magazine! The album is due this Friday, October 17, via Redefining Darkness and you can now stream it HERE.

"Wrapped in Seldon Hunt’s cosmic decay and mastered by Andreas Rosczyk, Feral Darkness is an unflinching meditation on mortality, transcendence, and the eternal night that waits beyond the threshold," says Decibel of 'Feral Darkness.'

The band is not only returning with a new label, but also with a new sound! While 'Feral Darkness' still embraces TOMBS' black metal roots, it also explores the band's gothic, death rock side, creating the band's darkest and most haunting record to date!

Mayhem Celebrating 25 Years of 'Grand Declaration of War'

No band embodies the spirit of black metal like Mayhem. In the wake of violence and scandal, the Norwegians set the standard for the genre with their canonical 1994 debut. Other influential acts were quick to follow in their footsteps, but these iconoclasts defied convention by making a truly bold statement on Grand Declaration of War.

"This record means a lot", its chief sonic architect Blasphemer told Outburn during a recent retrospective on the band's long since debated second album. "It built a foundation, not only for me personally, but it also built a new foundation for Mayhem".

Today, Season of Mist is celebrating the album's 25th anniversary with a special edition of Grand Declaration of War. Along with the original master, this sunburst colored gatefold LP includes new silver hot foil packaging, a double-sided poster and an embroidered leather patch.

"For Season of Mist, there was a before and an after Grand Declaration of War", says the label's founder and manager Michael Berberian. "This is probably the first true classic album we ever released, the one that put us on the map. And what an album. Talk about unexpected. Talk about daring".

The 25th Anniversary Edition of Grand Declaration of War comes out December 5th on Season of Mist.

On Grand Declaration of War, Mayhem continued to bow down for no one – even themselves.  The band were coldblooded as ever on merciless cuts like “A Time to Die”, but their arsenal of blast beats and tremolo picking was strengthened by an increase in command. Written in collaboration between newly appointed guitarist Blasphemer and vocalist Maniac, the album didn’t expand so much as it invaded territory that was then believed off-limits: spoken word (“View from Nihil”), trip-hop (“A Bloodsword and a Colder Sun”), soundscapes of doom (“Completion in Science of Agony”).

No matter how they choose to impose their will, after 25 years of Grand Declaration of War, there's still nowhere that Mayhem fear to tread.

The incredible rawness of the Deathcrush EP (1987) was followed by the still iconic and genre-defining De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994), which featured devilish drummer Jan Axel “Hellhammer” Blomberg, who had joined in 1988. The vocalist on this album was the Hungarian Attila Csihar of Tormentor fame, who returned later in 2004 to take over from his meantime heir, the enigmatic original singer Sven-Erik “Maniac” Kristiansen. The latter was featured on the Wolf’s Lair Abyss EP (1997), which was written mostly by highly talented guitarist Rune “Blasphemer” Eriksen, who scored a massive artistic success with the highly controversial Grand Declaration Of War (2000).

Maniac - Vocals
Blasphemer - Guitars

Virginity Release "You Can't Have My Blood: Bad Jazz Companion" via Smartpunk Records

Smartpunk Records' Florida power pop outfit, Virginity, has released a full-length companion to their 2024 LP "Bad Jazz," titled "You Can't Have My Blood." The tracklist is the ultimate fan service to enhance the original tracklist. It compiles songs from their two EPs released this year, as well as a handful of additional tracks, including an unreleased original and a few covers.

You can pre-order the vinyl now, out physically on October 24, just in time for Fest in Gainesville. This is an extremely limited vinyl release with no plans of repressing once sold out.

Listen below.

Pre-order "You Can't Have My Blood: Bad Jazz Companion" here

he band has received critical acclaim from the rock scene's top tastemakers, including New Noise Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Audiotree, and more. As fan favorites at Smartpunk's SXSW showcase and Florida's beloved FEST, Virginity have cultivated a core fanbase who are foaming at the mouth for these new tracks.

Speaking about the new deluxe release, Virginity says, "Our newest release, You Can’t Have My Blood, is truly for the Virginity heads. When we released two EPs earlier this year, we knew we wanted to get them on vinyl in some form and that doing so was an important factor for our heaviest listeners, but we weren’t sure what it should look like. In taking a look at all the material, which mostly came about during the late stages of the Bad Jazz sessions, we decided that this should be a sort of Bad Jazz spiritual companion. We had songs that never got past the demo form that we wanted to see the light of day, as well as some live performances, covers and other odds-and-ends that have been available in random places, but never in one place or on vinyl. As much as it’s a compilation of disparate songs, we believe it also stands up on its own as a piece in the tradition of artists like Guided By Voices. We think it’s a truly worthy collection of tunes for anybody, but something extra special for those that have been fans of our band for a while."

UPCOMING SHOWS:
10/22 - Pre-Pre-Fest Orlando @ Will's Pub
10/23 - Pre-Fest Gainesville @ Boca Fiesta
10/25 - The Fest @ The Atlantic
10/26 - The Fest (Fountains of Wayne cover set) @ How Bazar

ABOUT SMARTPUNK RECORDS:
Smartpunk has been a recognizable name in the scene for a long time (Remember that sponsored Warped Tour stage?!). After exchanging several hands and countless ideas of what it could and should be, they decided to start a record label in 2016 with the main idea of focusing solely on reissuing records that have been out of print or never on vinyl. After all, they're a label of vinyl dorks themselves! After releasing Set Your Goals' Mutiny and Gameface's Good, they started to venture into signing newer bands. They actively balance in between many worlds — putting out amazing music from friends and bands that rock, reissuing older titles, and partnering with other incredible labels in our scene and doing exclusive color variants of their releases.

Since forming the record label, Smartpunk Records has reissued timeless albums such as Less Than Jake's Hello Rockview and Anthem, Patrick Stump's Soul Punk and Samiam's Clumsy. In the year 2025 alone they've put out new releases by the likes of Somerset Thrower, Keep Flying, Debt Neglector, Gully Boys, Sainthood Reps and so many more.
