Candi Carpenter Is "American God"

Alt pop musical provocateur CANDI CARPENTER is the "American God." Today, they drop their new single titled "American God."

Listen here.

Watch the lyric video below.

Subversive. Satirical. Blasphemous. Totally serious. 'American God' is scathing political and social commentary dripping with thick blood and honey sticky hooks that wo''t wash off with soap and water. Candi Carpenter's new pro-gay, anti-capitalist anthem is a rock opera for metal heads who proudly go hard for Lady Gaga.

So who the hell is this non-binary witch?

We're glad you asked.

Candi Carpenter (they/them) is a queer, non-binary, openly autistic singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-disciplinary artist who is unafraid to shatter expectations. A true rock and alternative musician's musician, Candi writes songs that cut deep, grappling with toxic religion, sexuality, identity, and the existential beauty of the human experience.

"American God" is a sharp-edged, unapologetic rock opera anthem that blends biting political and social commentary with sticky-sweet, unforgettable hooks. Both satirical and sincere, the track takes aim at capitalism, hypocrisy, and intolerance while celebrating queer resilience.

Raised in a touring gospel family band, Carpenter has been caught in a chaotic cycle of reincarnation since the day they fell out of their mother: Child prodigy, yodeling champion, country chart-climber, and alternative powerhouse. Along the way, they've earned praise from Rolling Stone, collaborated with Brandi Carlile, appeared on BBC, NBC, and TLC, and were hailed by Dolly Parton as "one of the greatest singer/songwriters I've ever heard, bar none."

With their 2024 debut album Demonology, Candi staked a claim as one of today's most fearless voices. "American God" cements their place as a vital and uncompromising artist willing to raise hell, tell the truth, and make music that sticks to your bones.

Celebrated by Alternative Press as one of the “40 Artists You Need to Hear,” Don't Believe In Ghosts continues to make waves in New York City’s indie rock scene with their signature blend of catchy hooks, uplifting energy, and thoughtful lyrics.

Their new album, But On The Bright Side, arrives November 7th, 2025, following the singles "Driver" (August 29th) and "Outta Your Head" (October 10th). To celebrate, the band will host an album release party on November 15th at Soho Live in NYC.

Recorded over two years, the album saw the band working across multiple studios and diving deeper into analog gear, live recording, and classic console techniques. Sessions included trips to Nashville to work with producer Don Miggs and to Cleveland to collaborate with Grammy-winning producer Ken Lewis, alongside recording in their home base of New York. Throughout the process, all three members took on multiple instruments, pushing their sound in new directions. The band—Steven Nathan (vocals), Dan DelVecchio (guitar), and Ken Yang (drums)—has built a reputation for anthemic songwriting and high-energy performances. STARSET Announce New Album "SILOS" Out 9/12 + Band Shares Video for "Shattered Dreams" Cover

STARSET ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM SILOS OUT SEPTEMBER 12 VIA FEARLESS RECORDS

ALBUM FEATURES TWO NEW TRACKS + SIX INTERLUDES

BAND SHARES VIDEO FOR COVER OF "SHATTERED DREAMS" —

Visionary, sci-fi-inspired rock collective STARSET will release their next full-length transmission SILOS on September 12 via Fearless Records.

Pre-save it here.

The album will feature two brand new tracks, six interludes, and several recently released songs. In typical STARSET fashion, fans are invited to immerse themselves in the band's layered world via the songs, interludes, and the storylines.

o coincide with the album news, the band has shared its cover of "SHATTERED DREAMS." Watch the video here. It's STARSET's take on Johnny Hates Jazz's international hit "Shattered Dreams" — with a twist. It's haunting and moody and in true STARSET fashion, the tone of the song can highlight the dystopia of 2025.

"For a long time, I've had it in my head that I could cover 'Shattered Dreams' in a cool way that sounds fresh, heavy, and emotive, while still keeping what made it great," says frontman Dustin Bates. "For that reason, it was on a very short list of covers I'd like to eventually do. I haven't traditionally been very big on covers for this band, though, so I wasn't in a real hurry to do it. However, recently, I've started to become convinced that soon, anyone will be able to cover any song in any style with the use of AI. (It will take a while longer for it to write a great song on its own, but it will likely be able to cover songs well very soon.) So, it started to feel like now-or-never. That also explains why there are two covers on the album."

Lauded by Forbes as having "one of the most firmly established brands of any modern rock band," Columbus, Ohio's STARSET are creating a true multimedia empire with music at its core. Their hits include RIAA Platinum-selling hit "My Demons" (2012) and RIAA Gold-selling single "It Has Begun" (2014), with others soon to follow. With a staggering 5 billion streams and a rapidly growing rabid global fanbase, STARSET are one of rock's upper echelon acts.

K. MICHELLE SERVES UP AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING COUNTRY DEBUT, “JACK DANIEL'S”

The powerhouse voice of R&B took her highly anticipated turn down a dirt road — and it’s paved with passion, rich vocals and southern soul, as platinum-selling recording artist K. Michelle officially defies genre lines. Bursting onto the country music scene with the fiercely breathtaking “Jack Daniel's,” the track marks a seismic musical shift for one of R&B’s most distinctive voices, bringing her raw firepower to Nashville’s front porch. The first black woman to ever partner with the iconic brand, listen to her gripping, genre-breaking country debut HERE

With a voice that could melt steel and lyrics that cut true, K. Michelle quips that the Tennessee whiskey is the “only man she trusts.” Produced by Kristian Bush (Megan Moroney, Sugarland) and Jeff Balding, the Billboard-charting heavyweight wrote the smoky, soul-drenched power ballad packed with bite, grit and brilliance alongside ERNEST, Jordan Dozzi and Rocky Block, delivering a soundscape that’s as intoxicating as the spirit it honors.

“This is me coming home,” says K. Michelle, whose over 12M social media followers have been frantically demanding this release for months. “Country is in my blood. I was raised on southern soil in Memphis, Tennessee, where soul and country grew from the same roots. This new music is a celebration of where I come from — the pride, the bittersweet and the whiskey-soaked truth of it all."

Long known for her fearless lyricism and vocal prowess, the acclaimed singer-songwriter is bringing the same unfiltered passion to country that made her an R&B icon. With this release, the magnetic multi-threat joins the exceptional class of trailblazing black country artists changing the country music game, adding: “This is my story, and I’m ready for the world to hear it.”

With undeniable star power at the helm, K. Michelle has arrived in country music — and she’s taking over, releasing even more new music very soon.

About K. Michelle:
With over 12M social media followers, K. Michelle’s incredibly stunning career is nothing short of groundbreaking as she has stretched genre boundaries and built a worldwide audience of fans. With an already impressive resume, the multi-threat is not only an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist, with five Billboard charting albums, but she’s also an entrepreneur, author, executive, actress, television personality and restaurateur. Praised as real, brave, and rebellious, a notion beautifully present throughout her 2013 album Rebellious Soul, K. Michelle’s indomitable spirit and innately bold talent has encapsulated fans throughout her multifarious career. For listeners craving relatable music, her classic candor serves as a safe space and trademark.

In 2023, the Memphis, Tenn. native surprised fans by announcing that she was readying her debut country project. In true K. Michelle fashion, the always-real songstress gave a taste of what to expect with the album’s bonus track “Tennessee” on her sixth studio album I’m The Problem. True to her word, that same year, the Billboard-charting icon was featured on the acclaimed A Tribute To The Judds album, singing “Love Can Build A Bridge” alongside Jelly Roll and Fisk Jubilee Singers, performed on “The 57th Annual CMA Awards” that aired live on ABC and made her CMA Fest Nissan Stadium debut.

Reared in a household where the music of Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston played alongside country icons like The Judds and Lee Ann Womack, she put her Volunteer State roots on display when she earned a music scholarship to Florida A&M University for yodeling. Now, defying genres, destroying stereotypes, and fully unleashing her undeniable star power, K. Michelle has finally released her debut country track with the fierce powerhouse smash “Jack Daniel's,” available now.

Giants and monsters Out Today from HELLOWEEN!

With 15 gold awards, six platinum awards and over ten million records sold, HELLOWEEN are celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary with the successor to their self-titled #1 album from 2021. GIANTS & MONSTERS is the second album for the legendary line-up and the title immediately states where the album is heading.

Confident and bursting with vigor, the septet presents what probably is the most versatile album of their career. Already the opener “GIANTS ON THE RUN” flips the switch from the very first riff and impressively marks the terrain with the power voices of Andi Deris and Kai Hansen. No trace of restraint – the track takes a breath, takes off and unleashes a roar that leaves no doubt about the blazing pulse of the ten new songs. On this album, the experience and musical enthusiasm of a band that can do anything and everything blazes its way: Heavy, speed, rock, ballad – plain, intricate or progressive. With five strong songwriters and seven world-class musicians, creative limits are set aside once and for all on GIANTS & MONSTERS.

Musically rather straightforward and a veritable hit, “A LITTLE IS A LITTLE TOO MUCH” gives Andi Deris and Michael Kiske the space their monumental voices need for an intimate story. “Basically, it’s about the famous straw that breaks the camel’s back. During the writing process, however, I remembered an experience I had at the age of 15 and the lyrics ended up being pretty erotic – about little things that can quickly put an end to a big thing”, grins Deris. “THIS IS TOKYO” is another personal track. “I’ve always wanted to write this song. Japan plays a very special role in my life because I had my first big successes there with Pink Cream 69, and they have always treated me incredibly well. I wanted to create a tribute to Japan and finally had the right idea for the lyrics. Because ‘Tokyo’ sounds better in a chorus than ‘Japan’, the city stands for a whole country that is very important to me.”

“‘UNIVERSE (GRAVITY FOR HEARTS)" is a reminder that everything in the universe is connected, and what looks like an infinite number of stars could actually be moments, hearts and decisions,” describes songwriter Sascha Gerstner. With a playing time of over eight minutes, “UNIVERSE (GRAVITY FOR HEARTS)”, together with “MAJESTIC”, not only stands out as a longtrack – they both surprise with dizzying dynamic changes and huge melodic arcs that create entire worlds: Whatever you believe in is real. Alongside “WE CAN BE GODS”, “MAJESTIC” is also one of the tracks featuring all three singers of the HELLOWEEN super alliance. Both songs were penned by Kai Hansen and launch all trademarks that secured his place deep in metal hearts. “The space and aliens are my favorite themes and pretty fascinating. But you could also read the chorus as a description of the band: ‘We’re back and we’re the Masters of Power Metal’ – I’ll leave that up to the listeners,” laughs Hansen.

Masterclass is just as evident in gigantic ballads, and “GIANTS & MONSTERS” serves the first one in this constellation. “INTO THE SUN” is a duet in which Deris and Kiske sweepingly pour their hearts out, carried by masterfully orchestrated string cascades and yearning guitar solos. “Originally the song had different lyrics, but now it’s about reincarnation and that suits the track much better,” reveals Deris. “Michi and I share similar beliefs in that area, and I really wanted us to record the song together. He just sounds great when he sings it”. “SAVIOR OF THE WORLD”, a classic Weikath at his best, could have well been on one of the legendary ‘Keeper’ albums, and the extravagant “UNDER THE MOONLIGHT” also underlines his exceptional songwriting talent.

Consistently topping superlatives and presenting yet another milestone with “GIANTS & MONSTERS” requires the courage to keep reinventing a colossus like HELLOWEEN as well as continuing to challenge seven brimming careers even after four decades. And the instincts of the congenial producers Charlie Bauerfeind and Dennis Ward. For example, the fact that Dani Löble recorded all tracks on three different drum sets to individually decide which set delivers the perfect vibe for a song was only imaginable through unrestrained love of experimentation and highest standards. An effort and attention to detail that not everyone is willing to bring to the table. The mix was done at the legendary Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, which have witnessed the works of the greatest names in music – from Iron Maiden to Judas Priest and Def Leppard to Rammstein.
“GIANTS & MONSTERS” will be released on August 29, 2025, as CD Jewelcase, CD Digipak (incl. bonus track), Earbook (incl. bonus CD), 2-LP Gatefold (in various colors) and 2-LP Picture (incl. bonus track), MC and digital.

THE JOTUNN Return With “Blood Flower,” A Dark Fusion of Groove and Deathcore

THE JOTUNN return with their first new music since the release of their 2024 EP Summoner, unveiling their crushing new single “Blood Flower.” A natural evolution of the band’s sound, “Blood Flower” blends the Swedish groove melodeath influences that have shaped the band since its inception with the unrelenting intensity of blackened deathcore.

“This was our real attempt at pushing everything we love about extreme music to the next level,” says guitarist Shawn Kahan, who initially penned the track. “Cole [Martinez] really elevated it with his production, and it sounds absolutely massive. We’ve never been happier with a song.”

“Blood Flower” is a merging of THE JOTUNN’s love for music and horror. The track is interwoven with a short story written by vocalist Paul Kahan, and its music video, directed by Tom Stumpf, brings the concept vividly to life.

About THE JOTUNN:
Based out of Cleveland and Columbus Ohio, THE JOTUNN formed in 2021 after guitarist and songwriter Shawn Kahan presented a number of demos to Paul Kahan. Soon producer Cole Martinez (ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, WHITECHAPEL, ABORTED) was on board taking up the role of bassist and producer of their music. Nick Amato (ATOMIC WITCH) performed drums on the band's debut album Graveworshipper (2022), prior to Adam Biats joining the line-up. The outfit was awarded the Columbus Artist Grant in 2023, and subsequently in 2025. THE JOTUNN's EP Summoner arrived in 2024, and is set to be followed in 2025 by two cover releases and a new original track. Cole left the band in June 2025 on good terms, leading to the arrival of Leo Debevc on guitar and Londyn Hager on bass.

1916 Drops New Single “Upon the Green” Produced by Ted Hutt

1916, the boundary-pushing rock band known for blending classic rock grit with Irish punk, straight-up punk, rockabilly, and more, unleashes their latest single, “Upon the Green.” This is the third release from their highly anticipated full-length album, Conscience of Kings, due next spring, and it proves once again why 1916 is a force to be reckoned with in modern rock. Produced by Ted Hutt (Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys), the track smashes expectations with high-energy riffs, driving rhythms, and unrelenting attitude.

“We had a bet! It was 2 in the morning at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, TX and we were still a track short for the album,” said Hutt. “I bet you can't come up with a song worthy of its place on the record by tomorrow morning. Billy grabbed the nearest guitar, shuffled off with it, a bag of chips, and a bottle of Bushmills single malt, and by 10 the next morning had a completely new song—and it was a banger!! We just had to put it on the record!”

Since their formation, 1916 has been carving out a sound all their own—fusing raw rock energy, Irish punk attitude, and rockabilly swagger into songs that hit hard but never feel formulaic. Their live shows are as explosive as their recordings, earning them a devoted fanbase and critical acclaim alike. Conscience of Kings promises to be their most dynamic work yet, showcasing the band’s versatility and fearless approach to genre-blending.

About 1916:

Hailing from upstate NY, Celtic rockers 1916 are an explosive concoction of the modern Irish Punk movement with an original mix of psychobilly which gives 1916 a sound that stands apart from other bands of the genre.

Starting as an acoustic duo in 2006, singer Billy Herring and original drummer Steve LaDue played the traditional Irish ballads of the Dubliners and Wolfe Tones in the local pubs in and around their home-town of Rochester, NY.  They decided to call themselves 1916 to get people interested in Irish history.  In 2010 they took the music to a new level with the addition of electric guitars, traditional instruments, and a full drum set.  Within a few months of trying their new sound, 1916 were opening for the likes of the Dropkick Murphys, 21 Pilots, and New Politics, among other national acts.

On St. Patrick’s Day of 2012, 1916 released their first studio album, A Drop of the Pure, to rave reviews.  That same year, 1916 became the first band from Rochester, NY to get their own Pandora station with the addition of their music to the Pandora genome project.  With their music now reaching a global audience, the boys would soon gain fans all over the world.

The following year, 1916 released their sophomore album, Stand Up & Fight.  This new album, featuring a collection of covers and originals, had a more polished sound than the raw punk feel of  A Drop of the Pure.  This new full length album also featured more traditional Irish instruments to give the new LP a fun and full sound.

As the band continued to evolve, they kept touring and playing as many shows as possible.  With bigger audiences came a larger fan base for 1916 to interact with.  The band has always enjoyed hanging out with the crowd both pre- and post- shows.

In November of 2014, the guys went back into the studio to begin recording their third album, Last Call for Heroes.  Released in December of 2015, Last Call for Heroes was met with great enthusiasm from critics.  Named one of the “best punk albums of 2016,” both home and abroad, the new album appeared to have given the band the momentum they needed to move forward.

Mandolin player Jon Kane joined the band in early 2016, just before the boys hit the road to join Flogging Molly on their Salty Dog Cruise.  After a whirlwind spring of touring through the Bahamas and Europe, Jon was just what the band needed as he brought his energetic and fun stage persona into the fold.

The sound had certainly become streamlined and unique, but it wasn’t until 2017 that upright bassist Ryan Hurley would join 1916 to give the band the final integral piece that gives the music its psychobilly flavor. Soon after Ryan joined the band, 1916 further expanded their sound by the addition of accordion player Sam Sarratori to the crew!

Then…Covid hit in 2020. The band had just settled into a groove where they were poised for a northeastern US tour alongside a new live album. All that had to be put on hold indefinitely until further notice. After a year on hold, Billy knew something needed to be done to get momentum going again for his band. With that in mind, he packed up and moved to Nashville TN in order to give the music of 1916 more visibility. It was around this time the band welcomed the thundering drums of Chad Paetznick to take over behind the kit.

1916 has since been picked up by TLG|ROCK for a distribution deal for not only their fifth full length studio album Revolutions, but for their sixth LP, titled Conscience of Kings. This new record is being produced by Grammy Award winning musician & producer Ted Hutt at the legendary Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso Texas.

1916 is:
Billy Herring - Lead Vocals/Guitar/Banjo

Ryan Hurley - Upright Bass/Back-Up Vocals

Chad Paetznick - Drums

Sam Sarratori - Accordion/ Sunday Sauce

DEBDEPAN - “HABIT” Kent’s Alt-Duo Kick Off Sophomore EP with Sleazy New Single

Since their debut EP OMEN, genre-defying alternative duo debdepan have been relentlessly honing their craft, channelling their dark pop, grunge, and dance influences into their most ambitious project yet — the sophomore EP Lovers & Others (due November 2025). Marking the start of this bold new chapter, they unveil “Habit” on August 28th via Silent Kid Records.

A striking evolution of their sound, “Habit” fuses industrial grit and grunge textures with the hedonistic rush of 2000s indie sleaze, — channelling the restless pulse of Klaxons and The Rapture, yet charged with a magnetic, unmistakably feminine edge. Eerie, understated vocals cut through hard-hitting instrumentation, creating a tension that simmers in hushed moments before erupting into a dynamic push-and-pull of sound.

Lyrically, the track explores emotional inadequacy and the exhausting games we play for affection. Centered on the devastating line “If being more enigmatic makes you happy, that is tragic”, its deliberately looping structure mirrors the obsessive cycles of the mind — all while maintaining a punchy, haunting energy that makes it impossible not to move to.

“This song is about feeling like you’re not good enough for someone and having to play it cool to win their affection,” the band explains. “We wanted it to feel quite repetitive to signify how my thoughts kept circling. ‘You talk for hours’ is actually about the thoughts in my own brain.”

The creative spark for “Habit” came in the wake of a breakup, built around its central lyric. The track took on a new life during debdepan’s artistic residency at Westway Lab in Portugal, where a week-long collaboration with Portuguese electronic artist/DJ Phaser pushed the self-described “untrained musicians” into fresh sonic territory. What began as a melancholic idea was transformed by a driving beat that perfectly framed the song’s bittersweet edge. Final recording took place with Mike Collins in Ramsgate and was completed at London’s Strongroom Studios with producer James Minas.

As the first glimpse into Lovers & Others, the track sets the tone for a collection that chronicles the complexities of love, identity, and friendship through debdepan’s dramatised lens. Written entirely in the year since the duo relocated to Margate’s thriving creative community, the EP balances introspective vulnerability with a “pretty sad girl but also kind of party” duality — a reflection of late-night shifts in the town’s buzzing nightlife scene paired with long, contemplative coastal walks.

Where OMEN established their dark pop credentials, Lovers & Others sees debdepan lean deeper into dance-driven arrangements without losing their grunge-inspired bite. The result is a refined, genre-blurring sound that is as emotionally charged as it is physically irresistible.

Formed in March 2022 after writing together in lockdown, the Margate-based pair Chelsea and Grace quickly made their mark through Pie Factory Music’s Emerging Artists programme, leading to the release of their breakthrough single “Darkest Hour” in September 2022. The track gained radio play across the U.S. and Europe, breaking into the Deutsche Alternative Charts and earning the duo a publishing and label deal with Archangelo Music.

Since then, debdepan’s live reputation has soared, with standout performances at Westway Lab (Portugal), Pro Weekend (Spain), and Focus Wales, alongside support slots for Cumgirl8, Miki Berenyi, and most recently, Pete Doherty on his 2025 UK tour. Their music continues to receive crucial support from BBC Introducing and BBC 6Music, cementing their position as one of the UK’s most exciting new alternative acts.

“Habit” is released August 28th, 2025 via Silent Kid Records, with Lovers & Others following in November. UK and German live dates will accompany the release.

UNDER BLACK SKY: THE NARRATIVE

“You are not alone. The sky has cracked. The blood remembers.”

The world was once bright — but the light was a lie.

Centuries ago, a secret Order vanished beneath the surface of history, burying knowledge too dangerous for the world above. This Order — now known only in whispers as The Order

Beneath — kept one truth sealed: that some voices are not born, but summoned… when the world turns on itself.

Now, the sky has cracked. From the fracture, sound bleeds through. Not music — a signal. A call.

Four souls answered.

They were not chosen. They were claimed.

Marked by pain. Branded by betrayal. Broken by a system that promised dreams and delivered chains. But from the ruins of their pasts, each one emerged transformed — avatars of chaos and clarity, shadow and scream. Not men. Not monsters. Something in between.

They are known only by their roles:

• KRYSIS - The Prophet — voice of the unspeakable.  (Vocals)

• BEAST - The Executioner — fury without apology. (Drums)

• ONYX - The Seer — eyes that pierce the veil. (Guitar)

• JAXX - The Redeemer — bearer of the final key. (Bass Guitar)

Together, they are Under Black Sky — not a band, but a reckoning.

Their debut transmission, Bad Blood, is more than an album. It is the first chapter of an

awakening. Each track unlocks another sigil in the codex. Another fragment of the truth long buried. As their presence spreads, so too does the influence of the Order Beneath.

Those who hear the message begin to change.

Reality glitches. Symbols surface in dreams. Crimson keys appear. Shattered glass reveals

hidden figures. A storm begins to churn within them — not of fear, but of defiance.

And then they know:

They are not alone.

The purge has begun.

And Under Black Sky is leading the charge.

UNDER BLACK SKY is a modern active rock band hailing from New Orleans, LA, formed in 2023. The band consists of four enigmatic members - Krysis, Beast, Jaxx, and Onyx - Known for their wildly entertaining live shows, UNDER BLACK SKY delivers performances that are nothing short of mesmerizing. Each song in their repertoire is a meticulously crafted masterpiece, featuring hauntingly unforgettable choruses that linger in the mind, mesmerizing riffs that captivate the senses, and a potent shot of adrenaline coursing through their sonic landscape. UBS is not just a band; it’s a manifestation of resilience, creativity, and a profound desire to entertain and to connect with audiences on a visceral level. When attending one of their shows, be prepared to get engulfed in an immersive and electrifying experience sure to leave a long lasting impression.

ONE OF NINE Summons Pure Tolkienian Sorrow with New Song,"Dreadful Leap," (Ft. HULDER), Announces New Album

Alt-pop mavericks Laptop return with "Additional Animals" & NYC show with UK legends Cast

Jesse Hartman’s cult electro-pop project Laptop has unleashed "Additional Animals" — a darkly funny alt-disco track about extinction, meat, and the absurd human urge for more. It’s the second single from "On This Planet", an album co-written and performed with his 19-year-old son Charlie Hartman.

Laptop also performs on September 3rd at NYC's Sony Hall in support of this and earlier single “Weirder” (which went viral with 4M+ views and counting), mixed by Grammy award-winning producer Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Prince, Nine Inch Nails, Laurie Anderson, Julian Lennon). This is the band's first New York show in 20 years, opening for British indie-rock legends Cast, whose members draw from The La's and Shack. “Additional Animals” emerges with a Stop Making Sense-esque 13-piece “band of Animals”, uniting members from London with family talent (including acclaimed artists Odetta Hartman and Camellia Hartman) and guests from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway phenomenon "Freestyle Love Supreme" and Denise Gordon of Nevis, whose voice shines across the coming album "On This Planet", spotlighting the project’s Caribbean influences.

Now based in New York, Laptop originally emerged in the early 2000s on Island Records with three legendary cult classic albums —  "Opening Credits", "The Old Me vs The New You" and "Don’t Try This at Home" — earning praise from NME, The Guardian, and others for its stylized blend of synth-pop, irony, and heartbreak. Now they've rebooted the Laptop aesthetic — part indie-pop, part satire, part family therapy session.

“Additional Animals” is as much about appetite as it is about climate anxiety, blending shimmering synths, mandolin and Mediterranean horns. An extension of classic Laptop, this witty indie-pop is a logical evolution for the band, presenting a cross-generational blend of dry wit, anxiety and synth-driven swagger.

"This song is about the human appetite — for meat, for more, for everything — and how that hunger’s eating us alive. It’s a song about extinction that you can dance to. The lyrics are a little more connected to the moment than usual for me — our failing planet, our endless consumption — but it’s still wrapped in this shimmering, international pop packaging," says Jesse Hartman.

“We tracked the song in hip Valencia, added harmonies and Caribbean instruments in Nevis, and finished it in our hood in New York. It’s a global pop fever dream about survival, meat, and the slightly hilarious fact that humans always want just a little more."

The video, directed and shot by filmmaker Jesse, was filmed during a surreal family summer in Valencia and features Jesse, Charlie and Jesse’s daughter Lulu, along with rooftop horn solos, fishing boats, flamenco parades, aquariums, and sun-drenched chaos — part European art film, part alternate-universe vacation video. Jesse shares, “It stars me, my kids, our percussionist Mike (who used to play with Brian Eno), and our Nevis family singer Denise. It’s chaotic and colorful and oddly hopeful — like maybe we’re not the last animals standing.”

Before Laptop, Jesse Hartman got his start as a teenage Voidoid with Richard Hell before he co-founded the indie rock band Sammy (with Luke Wood, later President of Beats by Dre), releasing albums on Fire Records and Geffen Records. Known for his dry humor and cinematic aesthetic, Hartman was once described by The Guardian as the master of “insincere sincerity.” Now joined by his son Charlie, a multi-instrumentalist and co-writer, he brings that same emotional contrast into a new era — with Laptop’s blend of deadpan pop and wide-eyed dread more relevant than ever.

With a London show coming in October and a full album on the way in the Spring of 2026, Laptop’s return is both a throwback and a reinvention — legacy pop for a collapsing planet.

“Additional Animals” is out now, available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full album "On This Planet" arrives in Spring 2026. Tickets for the Cast + Laptop show at Sony Hall are available now.

Prospect Hill Unleashes New Version of Single “Victim” Feat. Stephen Richards of Taproot

After unleashing “Victim” on June 6, 2025, Boston hard rock band Prospect Hill returns with a brand-new version of the single, this time featuring Steven Richards of alt-metal veterans Taproot. The collaboration breathes new life into one of Prospect Hill’s most powerful songs, with Richards contributing fresh second-verse lyrics and layered harmonies that give the track a different perspective while preserving its crushing energy. Released today via Oktapus Rights Management / Red 13 Records, the updated “Victim” stands as both a reinvention and a celebration of mutual influence.

 Stream the new version here:

https://fans.prospecthillband.com/latest-release-links

A Collaboration Years in the Making
Originally released on June 6, 2025, “Victim” quickly became a fan favorite for its unapologetic lyrics and nu-metal edge. The song tackles toxic blame culture head-on, urging listeners to take accountability rather than fall into the trap of excuses.
Now, with Steven Richards stepping in to write and perform an entirely new second verse, the track gains a different narrative angle. His vocal presence is also interwoven throughout the harmonies, creating a powerful back-and-forth with frontman Edgar Troncoso that intensifies the song’s urgency.

“Having Steven on this track is a full-circle moment for us,” says drummer
and co-founder Mark Roberge. “Taproot has been one of our biggest influences since day one, and to hear him say this was his favorite collaboration he’s ever done—it doesn’t get more surreal than that.”

The Sound and the Message
Co-produced by Shaun Lichtenstein, Derek Rousseau, and Mark Roberge, and mixed by Lichtenstein, the 2025 version of “Victim” pushes Prospect Hill’s sound into sharper focus. Down-tuned guitars, aggressive grooves, and a defiant nu-metal punch remain intact, while Richards’ addition offers a renewed spark.

WE CAME AS ROMANS New Album Out Now; Drop Music Video For 'one by one'

Michigan metalcore titans We Came As Romans have released their powerful new album 'ALL IS BEAUTIFUL...BECAUSE WE'RE DOOMED' today, via Sharptone Records. The release is highlighted by the release of focus track 'one by one' and arrives as the band's US leg of their massive Bad Luck World Tour nears the end of its climactic final week, with sold-out crowds across North America witnessing the band's most ambitious era yet. Stream'ALL IS BEAUTIFUL...BECAUSE WE'RE DOOMED' HERE and watch the video for "one by one" below.

"one by one" confronts the band's history with destructive patterns head-on, serving as both a reckoning and a commitment to breaking cycles that have haunted them throughout their career. Built on crushing riffs and the band's signature melodic power, the track features lyrical callbacks to their past while emphasizing the hard-won growth that comes from facing your demons.

Providing further context , We Came As Romans frontman, Dave Stephens shares

"We first wrote One by One on an acoustic guitar with raw vocals, and right away we knew we had something special. Even though the rest of the song took time to shape, that initial spark carried us through and made the journey worth it. At its heart, the lyrics reflect the process of healing—acknowledging mistakes, facing flaws, and slowly piecing yourself back together, one by one. I couldn’t be more excited to finally share this song and the story it tells with everyone."

The single arrived earlier this week, as anticipation reached fever pitch for 'ALL IS BEAUTIFUL...BECAUSE WE'RE DOOMED', the band's most conceptually ambitious work to date. The album—a 12-track journey that literally loops from its final seconds back to its beginning—explores two decades of the band's history through a philosophical lens of death, rebirth, and transformation. Following the release of "bad luck," "no rest for the dreamer," "culture wound," and "where did you go?," "one by one" completes the picture of an album that refuses to shy away from the darkest corners of the band's journey. Stream the album now HERE.

ABOUT WE CAME AS ROMANS

We Came As Romans continue to progress and evolve at lightspeed, maintaining a place at the forefront of heavy music and culture. Never content to follow, they seamlessly alchemize crushing groove-driven catharsis, spacey electronics, and arena-size singalongs into a sound that refuses to sit still—effortlessly moving between metal, alternative, metalcore, and rock.

The Michigan-born five-piece—Dave Stephens, Joshua Moore, Lou Cotton, Andy Glass, and David Puckett—first broke through with Tracing Back Roots (2013), which cracked the Billboard 200 Top 10 and hit #1 on both the Independent Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. Their self-titled 2015 album followed, debuting at #11 on the Billboard 200, cementing their status as modern metalcore royalty.

Following the tragic loss of original vocalist Kyle Pavone in 2018, the band has continued to honor his legacy with their 2022 album, Darkbloom, their highest-praised record to date. Kerrang! awarded it 4 out of 5 stars, calling it "a carrier for a knot of emotion, and a tribute to their friend." It featured career-defining tracks like "Black Hole" (ft. Caleb Shomo), now over 102 million Spotify streams, and "Daggers" (ft. Zero 9:36), which surpassed 32 million streams. Media outlets including Loudwire and Consequence praised the album for its emotional range, sonic heft, and unapologetic vulnerability.

Now, with 'ALL IS BEAUTIFUL...BECAUSE WE'RE DOOMED,' the band enters their most ambitious chapter yet—scarred, sharpened, and more fearless than ever.
