ICE NINE KILLS: Score First RIAA Certified Gold Single & Drop New Live Album on DSPs

As they continue slashin’ their way through the GOLDen age of the Silver Scream, playing to sold-out crowds across the US on their  Silver Scream-A-Thon headline tour and at stadium dates with Metallica, Ice Nine Kills are celebrating yet another huge career milestone with the news that they have officially earned their first RIAA-certified gold single for the 2018 fan-favorite “A Grave Mistake.” Inspired by The Crow and taken from their smash hit album The Silver Scream, the track has now surpassed 100 million streams, cementing its place as one of the band’s most resonant and enduring releases. Watch the official music video for “A Grave Mistake Below

In an unusually worded, somewhat robotic statement, Ice Nine Kills creative mastermind and frontman, Spencer Charnas shares

"I am filled with human emotions after ingesting the data that my musical ensemble has achieved a golden status for the very first time. Programmed with a hauntingly harmonic minor cadence, 175 bpm, and a 3/4 time signature, it sufficiently garnered more than half a million sales equivalents."

Fans can also hear the band play the freshly minted gold single on their brand new live album, I Heard They Kill Live 2, available digitally today HERE. Captured during their sold-out home state show at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA on November 17, 2022, the record showcases the phenomenal energy of the band’s meticulously ferocious live performances, with an all-killer-no-filler setlist that spans the staggering array of mega-hits from seminal albums The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood . Full tracklist below.

Charnas adds further context with the following statement

“Captured in optimal performance conditions during a sold-out operation in the geographical region of Massachusetts, this album contains high-energy sonic outputs calibrated for maximum efficiency. As a result, these auditory data files will undoubtedly prove supremely satisfactory to the devoted Ice Nine Kills user base, aka, the Cyclos!”

All of this unfolds as the band continues their landmark, sold-out  Silver Scream-A-Thon tour—an immersive two-night headline event celebrating their cult-classic albums The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood. The band is also playing to stadium audiences on Metallica’s M72 World Tour, and will launch their own Hell of A Summer US headline tour beginning August 10, joined by Dayseeker, Kim Dracula, The Funeral Portrait, and Mest. "American Idol" Winner Iam Tongi Releases Powerful New Track, "Unbreak My Heart," for His Late Father

On the heels of a week of career firsts and milestones including a performance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” his CMA Fest debut and being surprised with a plaque for 100,000,000 streams, “American Idol” Season 21 winner and Hawaii native, Iam Tongi, releases the powerful new track, “Unbreak My Heart,” today via 19 Recordings. Listen to “Unbreak My Heart” Below. And watch Tongi debut an acoustic version of the track on Monday’s “The Kelly Clarkson Show” HERE

Written by Johnny Reid and Thomas “Tawgs” Salter and recorded in Nashville at Soultrain Sound Studios, the deeply personal ballad finds Tongi reflecting on the loss of his father and picking up the pieces. Delivering vocals tinged with pain and perseverance in a tribute to wounds that never heal, the song is a spiritual follow-up to Tongi’s tearjerking performance of James Blunt’s “Monsters” on “American Idol.” Arriving just over a week before Father’s Day the new track is once again dedicated to his late father.

Tongi says of the song, “I recorded ‘Unbreak My Heart’ in honor of my late father. The first time I heard it I was reminded of exactly how I felt the day we lost him. It speaks true to me and I hope anyone that hears it that has experienced loss knows they are not alone.”

The new music follows a flurry of activity in recent weeks for the Hawaii native, including a return to the Idol stage for the hit ABC show’s Disney Night. The Pacific Islander performed the Lilo & Stitch classic “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride.” Tongi’s take of the song is featured in Disney’s blockbuster live-action Lilo & Stitch film in theaters now. Watch his “American Idol” Performance of “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” HERE, the official video for Tongi’s version HERE, stream on APPLE MUSIC / SPOTIFY / AMAZON.

Tongi kicked off CMA Fest week on Monday with an acoustic performance of the new track on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” followed by a surprise appearance at a special American Idols Takeover presented by 19 and BMG on Wednesday where he was presented with a plaque for achieving 100,000,000 streams. He then made his CMA Fest debut on the Dr. Pepper Amp stage on Thursday.

CMA Fest week activities, the release of “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” and a return to “American Idol” follow Tongi’s release, “Sunshine” via 19 Recordings, for Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Written by Tongi along with Tyler Cain and  Johnny Reid, the song finds him basking in positivity and feel-good warmth with a fusion of country and reggae sounds offering a dose of sonic Vitamin D to match his Hawaiian home. Listen to “Sunshine” HERE.

At just 18-years old when he auditioned for Idol, the Hawaiian born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist won hearts around the world and brought Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, to tears with his emotional performance of James Blunt's "Monsters," dedicated to his father Rodney who had recently passed away - watch it HERE. The audition went on to become the most watched on the show’s YouTube with 37 million views. Tongi became the first Pacific Islander to win the series and went on to earn his first Billboard No. 1 on the Rock Digital Songs Sales Chart after releasing his debut single, "I'll Be Seeing You"

Tongi is set to make his Grand Ole Opry debut on June 11. He is currently on the road with dates across the U.S. through the summer and fall including several dates as support for Hawaiian singer-songwriter Maoli on his Last Sip of Summer Tour as well as Kolohe Kai’s What Aloha Means Tour. UNFILTERED: LANIE GARDNER REVEALS NEW PICTURE-PERFECT EP, POLAROIDS, AVAILABLE NOW

Named a “2025 Artist to Watch” by the Recording Academy/GRAMMY and Amazon Music, Lanie Gardner, unveils her highly anticipated new EP, Polaroids, via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. A six-track collection full of vivid storytelling, boundary-pushing soundscapes, and emotional truth, Polaroids is the perfect soundtrack for long drives, golden-hour moments, and everything in between. Listen to Polaroids here.

Produced by Oscar Charles, Jonathan Singleton, and Chris Ganoudis, Polaroids blends modern country grit with alt-pop edge and acoustic soul, capturing a 25-year-old artist fully stepping into her voice and vision. Building on the raw intimacy of her 2024 debut album A Songwriter’s Diary, Gardner widens the lens with this new project, giving each co-written song a mellow mix of feel-good energy and message-driven meaning.

Polaroids feels like a time capsule of everything I’ve lived and learned these past few years,” shares Lanie. “Each song is a snapshot of a moment that shaped me — the highs, the heartbreak and everything along the way.”

Alongside previously released standouts like “Buzzkill”—called “searing and sultry” by Billboard—and the emotionally charged “Concrete Cowboy,” Polaroids features a mix of new tracks that further showcase Gardner’s range. Highlights include the breezy opener “Takin’ The Slow Ride,” a windows-down anthem blending country rock with Southern soul, and the bright, roots-pop groove of “Hold Your Horses,” a playful reminder to slow down and soak it all in.

Gardner celebrated the release of Polaroids with a string of appearances at CMA Fest 2025, including standout performances at Spotify House, the Reverb Stage, and Ole Red’s On The Rise Opry celebration, as well as a surprise spotlight set at Darius Rucker and Friends at The Ryman. Today, she will perform at this year’s CMT Next Women of Country program at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, followed by her Polaroids EP release party at Chief’s Bar in downtown Nashville. To cap it off, Lanie will be featured as Apple Music Country's "Riser of the Month," joining host Ward Guenther for weekly in-depth conversations on Country Risers Radio HERE

Gardner continues to earn praise and high-profile collaborations across the Country music landscape. Her recent duet “What Could Go Right” with Thomas Rhett remains a fixture on top country streaming playlists, while her heartfelt team-up with Warren Zeiders on “Loving in Letting Go” showcases her emotional depth and vocal power.

This year alone, she made her Stagecoach debut, joined Corey Kent’s Black Bandana Tour, and will hit the road again this fall with Gavin Adcock. She was also named to CMT’s 2025 Next Women of Country class and was recently invited to make her Opry debut, further solidifying her place as one of the genre’s most exciting new voices.

Lanie first gained attention with her viral cover of “Dreams” (55M+ views), which hit No. 25 on the Billboard Rock charts and led to collaborations with David Guetta and MORTEN and her original music has been featured on the soundtracks for both Twisters and Queen of the Ring. As Billboard put it, she’s “a true artist with staying power,” and MusicRow calls her “one of the most exciting rising stars today.”

Rising Artist RYLAI Debuts with Emotionally Charged Single “Without You”

June 6th, 2025 marks the official debut of genre bending Alt-Pop artist, RYLAI, with the release of “Without You.” Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, RYLAI introduces himself to the world with a soul-baring track rooted in self-reflection, transformation, and the healing power of music. At its core, the track expresses both regret and gratitude, reflecting on a time when RYLAI admits he "should have loved [himself] more and taken better care" of his emotional well-being.

Driven by emotion and introspection, RYLAI creates songs with layers to unpack — where nothing is accidental and every sound has a purpose. In a world where so much feels uncertain and fragile, RYLAI’s journey begins with that same sense of instability. From a young age, he turned to music as a sanctuary — a place to disappear, escape, and find comfort when the outside world felt chaotic. “When everything was falling apart around me, music was the only thing that made sense,” he says. “It still is.”

That spirit lives at the heart of “Without You,” a track that captures both gratitude and regret. “I wrote the lyrics with intentional ambiguity, I wanted the lyrics to stand alone and also fit into the larger narrative of my upcoming releases,” RYLAI explains. “They could be for my younger self, a past lover, potential fans — or music itself.”

The production of “Without You” spans continents — with most of the song recorded in Seoul, and key sessions taking place in Los Angeles with co-producer Dylan Buzz Gold. RYLAI’s instrumental contributions include viola, violin, and synthesizer, underscoring his hands-on approach to every part of the song's creation. The track was written entirely by RYLAI and produced in collaboration with Dylan Buzz Gold, Scandi, and Colby Lapolla. Collaborators on the track also include Scandi (who provided the original beat) and Colby Lapolla, who contributed vocal production and textured effects.

RYLAI’s music is more than sound — it’s storytelling. Each release this year will connect to a larger narrative, revealing more with every track. “There’s always something to unpack,” he says. “Art is where we go when the world doesn’t make sense. And right now, we all need a place to escape.”

MORE INFO:
RYLAI
is a rising singer-songwriter and producer born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. His passion for music began in the quiet aftermath of a pivotal moment at the end of sixth grade, when he started exploring melodies on an old digital piano that had sat untouched for years. Though he had taken piano lessons as a child, it wasn’t until then that he truly connected with music — creating original ideas that gradually turned into songs.

Influenced by a wide range of artists, RYLAI draws vocal inspiration from Naul of Brown Eyed Soul, whose emotional head voice and rich chord progressions left a lasting impression. He also cites Ado for her unparalleled vocal intensity and expressiveness, and Seo Tai Ji, a Korean pop-rock icon known for his genre-bending approach to music. Kendrick Lamar remains one of RYLAI’s biggest influences — both for his lyrical depth and for the way each of his albums tells a cohesive, meaningful story. Inspired by that model, RYLAI’s own music follows an overarching narrative, with each release revealing a new chapter.

Aftermath Releases There is Something Wrong - Redacted, A Stripped-Down Version of their 2019 Album

Chicago metal legends Aftermath have unveiled a new version of their critically praised 2019 concept album with the release of There is Something Wrong – Redacted. This leaner, more direct version of the record features eight songs, omitting the intros, interludes, and outros.

Released 25 years after their groundbreaking debut Eyes of Tomorrow, There is Something Wrong marked Aftermath’s return with a bold and disturbing message—one that challenged listeners to confront uncomfortable truths. The album’s dark themes and intense lyrical content proved polarizing at the time of its release.

𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 is a dark concept album meant to disturb the listener.

"Back in 2019, the lyrics and concept were too much for some listeners, but for some that feeling has changed since Covid.  Regardless, we always intended on releasing a version with only the songs," says the band.

The Redacted edition strips the album down to its core—eight explosive tracks delivered without preamble. It offers a new way to experience the raw energy and pointed social commentary that define There is Something Wrong.

There is Something Wrong – Redacted is available now exclusively on all streaming services here: https://ffm.to/aftermath-tisw-redacted

Currently, the band is in the studio recording their fourth studio album. Aftermath promises to deliver 11 tracks of pure, uncompromising metal.

The band states, "We are excited to be back in the studio. We can’t wait for everyone to hear this album. It’s heavy, it’s catchy, and in typical Aftermath fashion it sounds totally different from our previous albums."

The new album is being recorded at Electrowerks Recording, with engineering and mixing by Chuck Macak. Additional details, including the album title, tracklist, and release date, will be announced in the coming months.

Chicago based Aftermath, fronted by Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis, formed in October 1985 when Charlie and his schoolmate Steve Sacco (Guitar) got together. This early incarnation with Adam (Bass) and Ray Schmidt (Drums) released their first demo in 1986 featuring “Sentenced to Death”, “Revenge”, “Shotgun” and “The Aftermath”.

In 1987, they unleashed their second demo entitled Killing the Future featuring the tracks “When Will You Die”, “Going No Place”, “Chaos”, “Meltdown” and “War for Freedom”. The band pursued a mind-blowing speed and technical brand of thrash that soon set them apart from the pack and in the process made them a pioneering crossover thrash band.

The tracks "War for Freedom" & "When Will You Die" were both featured on the British Metal Forces magazine_compilation LP Demolition: Scream Your Brains Out in 1988. Their appearance on the Metal Forces compilation further expanded the band's international appeal.

In 2020, Aftermath released a re-imagined version of the John Lennon classic, "Give Peace a Chance". The song was remixed and remastered for the new album and included on the record because of the message.

“John Lennon’s urgent call for peace in Give Peace a Chance is more important today than ever, and our call for peace with this cover is the perfect message to follow up our previous album. We released a dark concept album with a bleak message and felt it was important to follow that up with something positive. The visuals in the video are as important as the lyrics in a way. We live in a visual world today and this video needed to get out the message of HOPE. Having a young girl be the focus of the video was our way of getting that across. Seeing only positive acts when she puts on Lennon’s famous glasses was the perfect visual metaphor. Lennon’s message is transmitted not only through his lyrics but also through the perspective created by his unique lenses” says the band.

The video was directed by critically acclaimed video director Steven Nathan in New York City.

Aftermath unleashed their highly awaited masterpiece, No Time to Waste, through Zoid Entertainment/TLG/INgrooves on March 17, 2023. This release stands as the triumphant conclusion to a powerful trilogy, representing a notable departure from the somber tones of its predecessor.

In an exclusive statement, Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis shared, "We take immense pride in this album, a culmination of a trilogy that commenced with our debut. Crafted during a challenging era in contemporary history, 'No Time to Waste' emerges as an anthem of hope. In contrast to our previous dark conceptual endeavor, we've refined this record. The ten tracks within are both weighty and charged, delivering a potent metal experience coupled with a profound message - that collectively, we can overcome, but time is of the essence."

AFTERMATH is:
Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis - Vocals
Steve Sacco - Guitar
Ray Schmidt - Drums
George Lagis - Bass

SHADOW OF INTENT Drop New Single & Music Video "Mechanical Chaos"

With just weeks to go before the release of their most ambitious album yet, Shadow of Intent drop “Mechanical Chaos,” the fourth single from upcoming new album Imperium Delirium, out June 27 via Blood Blast Distribution. Watch the official music video below and pre-order the album or stream the new track here.

Driven by an unrelenting barrage of dissonant riffing, symphonic unease, and unflinching lyrical focus, “Mechanical Chaos” is the band at their most sonically and ideologically severe. Vocalist Ben Duerr offers the following statement:

“Mechanical Chaos was written to confront the cold, dehumanized reality of modern warfare—one increasingly shaped by the rise of drone technology. As unmanned systems redefine the battlefield, we find ourselves at a crossroads of power, ethics, and consequence. They have become the equalizer of nations. But with this shift comes a new era of destruction—one marked not by strategy, but saturation. The result is a battlefield soaked in attrition, where both sides bleed endlessly and blindly. Mechanical Chaos doesn’t celebrate this evolution—it laments it. It’s a cry against the dehumanization of war, where soldiers are reduced to dots on a screen, and civilians caught in the crossfire become collateral in a game of endurance.

The future hinted at in our music is not distant—it’s already unfolding. This song is for the forgotten, the vaporized, and the haunted—those left beneath the specters above.”

Lyrically and thematically, Imperium Delirium continues Shadow of Intent’s descent into the real-world horrors that define our past and foreshadow our future. From mythic allegory to modern bloodshed, the band’s subject matter confronts the sickness of empires, the seduction of violence, and the machinery of death that fuels it all. As always, the sound is enormous—melding symphonic grandeur, blackened melody, razor-sharp technicality, and punishing breakdowns into a style that remains utterly their own. The three previously released singles from the album - 2024's "Flying The Black Flag", "Feeding The Meatgrinder" feat Corpsegrinder and "Infinity of Horrors" have clocked up 1.4 million views on Youtube and 4 million streams on Spotify alone.

Since their formation in 2014, Shadow of Intent have garnered a reputation for crafting mind-blowingly technical, prog tinged symphonic deathcore. Widely acknowledged as one of the forerunners of the current deathcore renaissance, the band's debut album 'Primordial' was named as one of Revolver Magazine's '15 Essential Deathcore Albums', with Metal Sucks giving their 2019 album 'Melancholy' a perfect 5/5 review, stating "you can expect Shadow of Intent to send echoes across metal for as long as they feel like making music". To date, they amassed over 203 million streams, 64 million YouTube Views and have 460,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Following the album release, the band will hit the road this fall with Lorna Shore, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Enterprise Earth for one of the year’s most anticipated deathcore tours. Full dates below with tickets available HERE

PARADISE LOST PREPARE FOR 'ASCENSION'; NEW ALBUM OUT SEP 19TH

Icons of goth and doom, PARADISE LOST will release their long-awaited, 17th album Ascensionon September 19th with Nuclear Blast Records. The band’s first album in 5 years, following 2020’s critically acclaimed Obsidian, was produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackrory. Ascension is a testament to the band’s longevity and relevance over their 35+ year career, encompassing their signature styles of gothic, death and doom fans have cherished along the way.

Ascension’s album cover fittingly features the painting The Court of Death (1870-1902) by renowned British artist George Frederic Watts, which hangs in the Tate Gallery in London. The painting depicts Death as an enthroned angel flanked by allegorical figures of Silence and Mystery guarding sunrise and the star of hope, while a warrior surrenders his sword and a duke his coronet, showing that worldly status offers no protection. The painting’s bleak, prophetic vision embodies Ascension’s dark, tormented soundscapes as mournful verses collide with dire, foreboding riffs.

Commenting on the record, vocalist Nick Holmes says:

"Ascension is a cavalcade of molten misery, a vigorous sorrow filled stroll through a wicked world of glorious triumph and pitiful tragedy."

Today, PARADISE LOST offer a glimpse into their melancholic masterpiece with the record’s first single and music video, ‘Silence Like The Grave.’

About PARADISE LOST:

More than three decades into their career, and with over two million albums sold, PARADISE LOST remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal through their early groundbreaking albums like 1991’s aptly-titled Gothic, a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere.

Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored a myriad of avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with the enormous, lush sounds of 1995’s Draconian Times, to more experimental, electronic leanings, leaving an influence on a trail of artists as varied as CRADLE OF FILTH, HIM, GATECREEPER and CHELSEA WOLFE.

Now, in 2025, the Yorkshire quintet return with their staggering 17th album, Ascension, a record that sees their crown continue to gleam as it underlines just how they attained their position. Produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh at Black Planet studios in East Yorkshire, with drums and vocals captured at NBS and Wasteland studios in Sweden, its 10 tracks traverse the multitude of sounds in the band’s arsenal, from full-bore heavy metal to sky-high melody, all the while keeping a minor-key melancholy that remains irresistible.

Creeper Tease Next Era With "Headstones" Video — WATCH // New Album "Sanguivore II: Mistress of Death" Coming Soon

May 30 saw CREEPER bring the curtain down on the critically-acclaimedSANGUIVORE era with a phenomenal performance of the album at a sold-out, intimate KOKO show. And, as has become custom in the CREEPER world, they ended this chapter by unveiling a look ahead to their next — this time by introducing a new character, the Mistress of Death, during a vampiric horror short film.

Now, CREEPER take a blood-soaked step towards their new album Sanguivore II: Mistress Of Death (coming later this year) by sharing the new single "HEADSTONES." Watch the video below

"HEADSTONES" sees CREEPER come roaring out of the gate with a whirlwind of classic thrash riffs and pummeling punk rhythms before soaring into a characteristically larger-than-life arena-ready hook. It also brings in exhilarating sonic elements, such as dueling, Judas Priest-style guitar solos from co-founder and lead guitarist Ian Miles and guitarist Lawrie Pattison, while Hannah Hermione brings gothic x gospel vocal harmonies. Its lyrics dive deeper in the band's fascination with vampire mythology, with William Von Ghould's playful innuendo delivering arguably one of the greatest vampire songs ever written.

The track was produced by Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Rammstein, The Damned) who helped CREEPER bring their most theatrical and unhinged excesses to the fore.

William Von Ghould says, "'Headstones' is the first glimpse into Sanguivore II: Mistress of Death. Set in a blood-drenched vision of the 1980s, it follows a vampire rock band on a tour soaked in violence and excess. It features some of our heaviest and most theatrical guitar work yet, echoing Iron Maiden, with Lawrie Pattison and Ian Miles trading solos in the bridge. It's also the fastest single we've released in years.

"Lyrically, it sets the stage for what's to come in the album's narrative, exploring the dark perils of rock 'n' roll, sins of the flesh, and pure evil. This is the band at its most over-the-top and unashamedly dramatic. But as our hero Jim Steinman once said, 'Sometimes going all the way is just the start.'"

The accompanying video for "HEADSTONES" sees CREEPER channel the ferocity and charisma of their renowned live show and also underlines their future festival-headlining potential. William Von Ghould conducts the chaos from center stage, while his bandmates run riot and pyros detonate.

After Kerrang! observed that CREEPER’s KOKO show "evidently attracted the most ardent members of their already deeply devoted fanbase," the band have plenty more to come on the road this year. Their summer festival dates include Bloodstock, Rock am Park/Rock im Ring, and Graspop Metal Meeting. Autumn then brings a UK and European tour as special guests to Ice Nine Kills which culminates at the OVO Arena Wembley on December 12.

Their UK dates are listed below; please see HERE for all international dates.

AMORPHIS Unveil Lyric Video For New Single "Light And Shadow"; 'Borderland' Album Pre-Orders Available Now

Following the announcement of their 15th studio album Borderland, Finnish metal icons AMORPHIS release the first single from their forthcoming opus today. "Light And Shadow," which can also be interpreted as a metaphor of the album title in the sense of counter-play between two parties close to each other, wins over listeners right away with an uplifting piano intro, enriched by an electronic sound tapestry. As the song unfolds, it transforms into a driving, mythic anthem of self-discovery, a powerful reminder of why AMORPHIS remain unrivalled in crafting melancholic majesty.

Santeri Kallio, who wrote the music, adds: “I threw my brain into the closet and went with the flow - without stressing about opinions. I didn’t want to repeat the old nor copy what we’ve already done before. When I heard Tomi’s final vocal parts, I realised that ‘Light And Shadow’ would be the perfect introduction to our new album!”

Arriving on September 26, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music, the group’s new album can be pre-ordered in a wide range of formats and pre-saved here: https://amorphis.rpm.link/borderlandPR

After recording four albums in a row in Sweden, Hansen Studios (Jacob Hansen, Denmark; VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, PRIMAL FEAR etc.) were the destination of choice in late 2024 and early 2025. The album artwork was designed by Dutch artist Marald Van Haasteren (METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH, KVELERTAK, ALCEST etc.) this time.

Besides newly collaborating with Hansen and Van Haasteren, AMORPHIS still rely on the lyrical craftsmanship of Pekka Kainulainen, who’s been courageously writing for the band since their 2007 offering Silent Waters. About his inspiration for Borderland Kainulainen comments: “The generations that came here before us, our ancestors, also had to face death and destruction. Honouring the mythologies of mankind, as well as the listeners of AMORPHIS, I wrote lyrics that hopefully convey some of the humility and strength that mankind has always depended on.”
With Borderland, the title of the album couldn’t have been chosen more fittingly. Throughout their career, spanning over more than three decades, AMORPHIS -- Tomi Joutsen (vocals), Esa Holopainen (guitars), Tomi Koivusaari (guitars), Olli-Pekka Laine (bass), Santeri Kallio (keyboards) & Jan Rechberger (drums & percussion) -- have been an ever-evolving act, wandering on an exciting boundary-pushing path. From their sinister death metal debut Karelian Isthmus over genre-defining mid-90s melodic death works like Tales From The Thousand Lakes andElegy as well as the melodic 2000’s grandeur of Eclipse or Skyforger to records combining the very best of all prior eras to refreshing new soundscapes (f.e. Under The Red Cloud or Queen Of Time): Whatever this group works on promises long-range success.

With 2022’s Halo, the Finn’s were rewarded for their researching musical approach once again: The album marked AMORPHIS’ sixth no. 1 album in Finland, even cracked the top 3 of the official German album chart, and last but not least the sextet took home two awards from the prestigious Emma Gaala (“Band of the Year” & “Export of the Year”).

The impact of Halo became a driving force for what’s to come. Rather than rushing into a follow-up, the band chose to step back from live performances and focus fully on their next chapter. The result is Borderland - a meticulously crafted opus that builds on their celebrated recent era, while seamlessly weaving in new, timely elements. It’s a bold, organic continuation of their journey, shaped by experience and guided by vision

AIRBOURNE Proudly Show Their Colors With New Do-Or-Die Anthem “Gutsy” — Their First New Music In Six Years

The mighty AIRBOURNE are back with “GUTSY,” their first new song in six years. Bristling with attitude and intent, this is AIRBOURNE on steroids — fired up and pissed off, ready to take on the world.

“Get ‘GUTSY,’ I die hard, you can’t stop me once I start…”

For frontman and lead guitarist Joel O’Keeffe, his brother Ryan on drums, longtime bassist Justin Street, and recent recruit Brett Tyrrell on rhythm guitar, "GUTSY" powerfully underlines everything they stand for, a blood-and-sweat commitment to the rock ‘n’ roll cause, and a burning desire to honor the true heroes of the genre.

More than just a title, "GUTSY" is a declaration. A worldview. A line drawn deep in the sand…

“It’s how you live, it’s how you die…”

Frontman/Lead Guitarist Joel O'Keeffe shares:

“When the odds are stacked against you and the battle you’re fighting seems impossible to win; when the vultures are circling and the last chance saloon has firmly bolted its doors; when your plane is hitting the runway on a single engine, and that engine is on fire; and when the things you hold as precious, the things that define you, are being tested at every turn, then the choices available become a lot clearer: fold or fight… call for help or cry for glory… give in or Get 'GUTSY'!”

Produced by Brian Howes, who also worked with the band on 2013’s 'Black Dog Barking,'engineered by Canadian studio legend Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Rush, Metallica), and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Dayseeker, BMTH, Architects, Machine Gun Kelly), "GUTSY"marks the first new music from the Australian outfit since 2019’s 'Boneshaker.'

From the first ringing guitar chord (and it’s no coincidence it sounds like a bell!), "GUTSY"makes zero apologies for being big, bold, and bombastic. It’s a layered, fully cranked take on signature AIRBOURNE sonics, and packs enough low-end punch to work as a defibrillator in moments of crisis.

For Joel and Ryan, voracious students of hard rock, the mythology, the sacred rites, "GUTSY"stands tall, shoulders back and chest out. It’s a potent call to arms. A rallying cry for fans and band alike.

“We went into this writing and recording session with a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve,” concludes Joel. “It was a question of legacy. Let’s create something that can stand the test of time, both in terms of our own story and the hard rock world in general. Let’s plant our flag as close to the summit as possible, and if we have to make that final part of the ascent without oxygen, so be it. NO turning back. Get 'GUTSY'!!!”

SYLOSIS - Release Video For 'Soured Ground' + Limited Vinyl Run Of 'The Path' EP

Storming metal unit SYLOSIS have released the video for the vitriolic 'Soured Ground', taken from their most recent EP, The Path. The band have also announced a limited vinyl run of the EP which can be purchased now from https://sylosis.bfan.link/the-path

On the release of the new video, the band comments:

"Following the success of The Path, it was clear that we had to immortalise these songs on some form of physical media. We knew the songs were strong, but did not expect them to connect with people the way that have. In light of this, we have a very limited pressing of the EP in coke bottle green with custom etching. The finished product is stunning and we can't wait to share it with you. To further celebrate the release, we shot a new video for the song Soured Ground. This was the obvious choice for the video after seeing all the fan feedback. We have a limited number of signed vinyl available on our webstore and on tour in Europe this month. Be sure to grab yourself a copy, and we'll see you on the road - Ali, Ben, Conor & Josh."

DREAMWAKE Announce "The Lost Years" Out 8/8 + Share "Afterglow" Video

Connecticut's DREAMWAKE — Bobby Nabors (vocals); Dave Pazik (guitar); Kevin Jacques (bass); and Andrew Popolizio (drums) — are thrilled to announce their new album The Lost Years. It will arrive on August 8 via UNFD. Pre-order it here

To mark the occasion, the band has shared the video for the new single "Afterglow." Watch it below

"'Afterglow' is about the ache of losing someone to their inner battles, and the desperate hope to bring them back before they fade completely," the band states. "It's a plea for connection in the face of emotional distance, a fight against fading into silence."

Even with such heavy and heartfelt subject matter, the song's ebullient melodies and the band's DNA-distinct way of cross-pollinating metalcore's fury and heft with synthwave and saxophones elevate the song to soaring heights. The sax action is the unexpected and unpredictable touch you never knew you needed — but totally did!

Emerging from the bustling scene in New Haven, Connecticut, Dreamwake are a four-piece band that seamlessly blurs the lines of multiple genres, deftly crafting a sound that's both nostalgic and fresh. Combining emotionally charged melodies, heavy riffs, and saxophone, Dreamwake offer a unique sonic landscape and they bridge the gap between powerful metal breakdowns and captivating melodies. Joining the UNFD roster in 2024, the band continues to deliver an unforgettable mix of energy, depth, and innovation that will leave a lasting impact on fans.

The Dead Cowboys Release the Lyric Video for Super Country Cowboy.

The Dead Cowboys release Super Country Cowboy, the second single from their soon to be released debut album. Bobby Jensen talking about the new single, "Super Country Cowboy is a song that I love because fits me and my personality. I was raised half city mouse and half country mouse so it really hits home with who I am and where I come from. My dad was born and raised in the Hills of Summertown Tennessee, while my mom was born and raised in Minneapolis. With that diverse upbringing, I was raised to be streetsmart and country dumb as well as being fluent in two languages, English and southern bull, so you can’t get much by me and I can usually see you coming.

Their combined upbringing and my love of KISS and Waylon Jennings led to my brackish existence between the ocean of rock ‘n’ roll and the river of country music.  Growing up I often wondered what it would sound like if KISS released a Country Album and this song is a good example of what that might sound like. Super County Cowboy gives the stomp of hillbilly country , the thump of loud guitars with the storytelling lyrics and I think it’s a great blend of styles in one song.

The video is a great visual of the boy who wants to be like his favorite band “The Dead Cowboys” and has their posters on his wall and every album. It’s exactly what I was growing up as a KISS fanatic. He gets his first guitar and taste of what the loud power chord can do to your soul.  Nothing will stop him now!  He starts playing and singing nonstop and becomes the Super Country Cowboy."

Watch the video for SUPER COUNTRY COWBOY (Lyric Video) Below:

The Dead Cowboys are set to release their debut album on Shotgun Records June 21st. Blazing out of the American heartland, The Dead Cowboys are the sonic outlaws redefining what it means to ride the line between heavy metal and country. With a signature sound they’ve dubbed “heavy western”, this band is a hard-hitting fusion of roaring guitars, outlaw swagger, and dust-kicking groove that feels like Motörhead riding through a ghost town at midnight.

Originally formed in 2005 by Bobby Jensen—a powerhouse performer with a voice as wild as the frontier—The Dead Cowboys started as a passion project blending Bobby’s deep love for classic country storytelling and the raw energy of metal. But when his other band, Hairball (a high-octane heavy metal tribute juggernaut), exploded onto the national scene, The Dead Cowboys were temporarily put out to pasture.

Gaahls Wyrd Premiere New Album 'Braiding the Stories'

Norwegian Grammy winners Gaahls WYRD are returning with their long-awaited second album. Braiding the Stories journeys inward, between the riverbeds of consciousness and dreams. With each cosmic chord, each cold and haunting beat, Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal and his mystical band untell the stories, and in the process, braid the roots that cradle the unseen.

Braiding the Stories comes out tomorrow, Friday, June 6, but you can hear all nine haunting songs today by listening to the full album stream below.

If their 2019 debut GastiR – Ghosts Invited conjured ghosts and 2021's The Humming Mountain lingered in twilight realms, Braiding the Stories rises from beyond what Gaahl himself describes as “The White Lodge”. Drawing from the subconscious, the band’s new album threads together dream fragments and inner voices with unheard reverberations.

Guitarist Lust Kilman’s solos—melodic fragments carved like totems into each composition—carry much of the emotional weight, supported by Nekroman’s immersive bass and Spektre’s meticulous drumming. From the vulnerable grandeur of the title track to the ritualistic drive of “Time and Timeless Timeline” and the cinematic dissonance of “And the Now” the album is unbound by genre yet anchored by purpose.

“I always work with the subconscious,” Gaahl says. “This time, I wanted the listener to fall into the album.”

The striking cover art by visual artist Øivind Myksvoll (Wardruna, Trelldom) is just as mysterious and arresting as his work for The Humming Mountain. Look closely and you’ll find what appears to be hair (aka the veil) and the cosmos (crystallized wine from Gaahl’s collection). Indeed, the group’s signature horned figure lurks between the layers. For Gaahls WYRD, music, lyrics, concept, and art are synonymous. They’re designed to be experienced in their entirety and in unison. Braiding the Stories isn’t an obvious listen, but it gently (and sometimes maniacally) pulls at the listener. The sensation of the journey from opener “The Dream” to closing epic “Flowing Starlight” is quite unlike anything before. All hail Braiding the Stories!

TUNGSTEN Unveil Music Video For Touching Stand-Alone Single "Cry For The Fallen"

Swedish melodic metal powerhouse TUNGSTEN is currently dedusting their gear to prepare for this year’s summer live activities. Presenting The Grand Inferno (Reigning Phoenix Music), the band is proud to surprise fans with an unheard track from the recording sessions of their most recent album to short the wait until their return to the stages. "Cry For The Fallen" starts on a fragile note with strings before its intense story resonates -  emotionally intonated by lead vocalist Mike Andersson. The 4-minute track continues building up while a flute wanders the melodic lands of folk, representing the wide range of influences defining TUNGSTEN’s soundscape. Ultimately going ballistic in the form of an epic final chorus, "Cry For The Fallen" concludes on its peak and recalls the quartet’s fine sense for crafting emotive yet highly powerful music once again.

TUNGSTEN state: “Originally, this song was meant to be included on “The Grand Inferno,” but after discussing it, we decided to save it for a separate release. We wanted to give it the spotlight it deserves and make it truly special. The track is both dynamic and emotionally powerful. We filmed the music video in a beautiful church in Southern Sweden, a setting that we felt perfectly matches the song’s atmosphere and message. Lyrically, ‘Cry For The Fallen’ is a tribute to our loved ones who have passed away - an emotional remembrance of family and friends no longer with us. This is a song to remember - and to be played loud!”
