Dark Folk Artist Kati Rán Shares Music Video for Emotional New Song, "KÓLGA | 16"

Dutch artist and Nordic folk pioneer Kati Rán is now unveiling her emotional new single, "KÓLGA | 16," along with an epic music video, which was created by Costin Chioreanu. The track is taken from Kati Rán's upcoming full-length, 'SÁLA,' which is due on May 24, 2024 via Svart Records. The clip can be found below.

Kati Rán comments, "'KÓLGA | 16' is one of the coldest waves of the nine billowmaidens of Rán, one that can take your breathe away in a overpowering chokehold of ice water. What we deem the most 'destructive of powerful forces of nature' are aswell a necessary and powerful catalyst for change, or gain newfound clarity.

"The song as well touches upon many female figures that in one way or the other made significant sacrifices in their lives,  have been sacrificed, betrayed, persecuted or deliberately put in another light in history, in mythology and various folktales across time and culture."

Svart Records is delighted to expand its international artist roster with the signing of established dark Nordic folk artist Kati Rán and to release her second full-length album 'SÁLA.' Special vinyl editions in gold, transparent smoke, and black as well as digipack CDs are available for pre-order HERE.

'SÁLA' features an impressive lineup of diverse musicians who lent their talents to the record, including Gaahl, Napalm Death's Mitch Harris, members of Heilung, Sígur Rós, and many others!

Kati Rán is known for her collaborative audio work for Netflix’s tv series 'VIKINGS: VALHALLA,' films and work for videogames, her stage appearances with Wardruna, Myrkur and Gaahls Wyrd to name a few, and her previous releases of the successful album; and Nordic dark folk tracks “Blodbylgje” and Icelandic track “Unnr | Mindbeach”; that run millions of streams and gathered a tightly knit Nordic Folk music loving audience around her.

If the most profound treasures are often the most deeply buried, the journey to uncover them is vital process of discovery. Five years after the 15-minute single “Blodbylgje” signaled the birth of a new, more primordial, and immersive vision after the dissolution of her band L.E.A.F., Nordic dark folk artist Kati Rán has expanded on its oceanic theme for her long-awaited full-length album, 'SÁLA.' Embarking on a far-reaching musical and personal travelogue, it’s a reawakening of both the feminine narratives submerged and fragmented within Norse mythology, and the enduring, healing powers held within.

Named after the Old Norse word for ‘soul’ and ‘sea’, 'SÁLA' is an act of "soul retrieval," the shamanic art of trauma recovery, be it illness, death, heartbreak or loss, and the reintegration of a splintered self. Across its 13, wide-ranging, elegantly unfolding tracks, the album is an embodiment of different feminine voices and perspectives – from the Norse nine daughters of the sea, or ‘billow maidens’, through various historical and fictional figures to the late-night voices we hear in our most liminal states – all with tales to tell, riddles to solve, challenges to be accepted and guidance to offer. It’s a multiplicity that, like the ocean itself, belongs to a vast, restless dynamic: a matrix of mysteries, unfathomable depths and ever-shifting currents, accumulating into an elemental, regenerative source of power.

Recorded in a barn in Húsafell, Iceland – home to glacier ice caves and a rare lava stone marimba rediscovered for the track “Stone Pillars” – as well as Finland, Norway and at home in Kati’s native Netherlands, 'SÁLA' is as much chronicle of Kati’s own perspective-shifting recording process as it as a pilgrimage through different viewpoints and internal states. That itinerate urge is also reflected in the use of different languages, ranging across Norwegian, Old Norse, Icelandic, and, for the first time, English, her combination of ancient texts, historical reimagining’s and unguarded personal reflection backed up by deep research into the most resonant recesses of Nordic lore.

Spun throughout every thread of 'SÁLA' is a sense of communion - with the power of stories to offer moral guidance and the thrill of the unknown; with the element of water, recreated across the album both in field recordings and the agelessly organic nature of the music itself; with the archetypes whose qualities we are called upon to embody at our most critical moments; and with the internal hidden realms forever whispering at us from the far edges of our consciousness.

Appropriately, it’s a collaborative venture too. As well as working closely together with Finnish producer Jaani Peuhu, there are contributions from across the musical spectrum, including extreme metal vocalist extraordinaire Gaahl, the Icelandic female choir Umbra Ensemble, renowned Norwegian jazz musician Karl Seglem, Björk and Brian Eno contrabassist Borgar Magnason, members of pagan folk acts Völuspá, Gealdýr, Heilung and Theodor Bastard and even Napalm Death’s Mitch Harris on vocals.

For all the many sources 'SÁLA' draws from, the result is a singular, intimately transformative rite of passage, and a retuning of the heart to the reverent continuity of the sacred. It will take you from the opening title track’s chest-pounding rhythmic pulse emerging from a traditional Norwegian bukkehorn (recorded by Karl Seglem), a galloping horse-rider and Kati’s glacial, velveteen chant, through “Kólga’s” recounting of female persecution through the ages borne on the most gossamer-light yet unbreakable of timbres and “Stone Pillar’s” gently percolating, deep wells of abandonment and incantations to recovery. 'SÁLA' closes with the track “Sátta” - Old Norse for ‘peace’ and ‘reconciliation’ – ending the album as it began with the bukkehorn, as it weaves rich drones and experience-stamped poems and prayers, Kati’s vocals the most sensitively tuned of emotional barometers. An album made in dedication, and in thrall to, its own sense of destiny, 'SÁLA'” is, as all quests must ultimately be, a homecoming.

Introducing The Barbarians of California (Members of AWOLNATION, Tinfed) + Band Shares "Where Are the Punks"

The West Coast's contribution to hardcore punk is undeniable. That tradition of aggression, passion, and scrappy melodicism continues with The Barbarians Of California, an engaging new manifestation of iconoclastic spirit and true bombast. They are equal opportunity iconoclasts, gleefully thrashing the left and the right in the hardcore-punk tradition of nonconformity and raw fury. The band isn't "political," because they aren't advocating for anyone's platform. The central message is defiance

Today, the band has shared the video for the hellacious new single "Where Are the Punks," out now via ONErpm. Watch it below

"Where Are the Punks' is about being disappointed when you find out your childhood heroes are no longer rebellious," the band explains. "Everyone has the tendency to soften as their age. We are fighting against that in this song. This was one of the first song the band started working on for this project. Eric lead crafting the instrumentals and the lyrics were inspired by Aaron's college professor telling him to question authority."

So, who, exactly, are The Barbarians of California?

You'll be glad you asked.

Eric Stenman and Aaron Bruno first collided in the California hardcore scene of the early '90s. Stenman cut his teeth in the same Sacramento community that eventually launched diverse and disparate acts like Deftones, Far, Will Haven, Team Sleep, Hella, Dance Gavin Dance, Death Grips, and Trash Talk. Bruno was born and raised just north of L.A. and nicknamed "AWOL" by his high school friends.  Eric played guitar for cutting-edge, electro-infused rockers Tinfed. Commercial success eluded them despite a cult following, a deal with a major label, and an appearance on the M:I 2 soundtrack.

Bruno co-founded the hardcore band Insurgence as a teenager. His next band, Home Town Hero, toured with Weezer and Stone Temple Pilots and released a major label album, but combusted in 2004. Next came Under The Influence Of Giants, who, despite critical acclaim, disbanded in 2008. Stenman became one of the most sought-after producers of alternative rock. His discography as a producer, mixer, and engineer includes important releases from 7 Seconds, Senses Fail, ††† (Crosses), and AWOLNATION. AWOLNATION, of course, is the multi-platinum act Bruno formed in 2009.

The spirit of the underground and the personal catharsis delivered through metallic hardcore never left either of them. So, when Aaron learned that Eric crafted a batch of throwback bangers combining impassioned angst with modern sensibilities, he wanted in immediately. The Barbarians were born.

The apparent "full circle" moment isn't lost on either of them. "It's a funny time in our lives to go back and make the most aggressive music we've ever created," Stenman laughs. “Both of us have always had a love for this world. If given the opportunity, why not try to give back to it?"

The band previously shared "Dopamine Prophecy." Listen here.

More from The Barbarians of California is on the horizon, so stay tuned...

...but in the meantime, check out Bruno on the 100 Words or Less podcast here.

About Bryce Leatherwood:
Bryce Leatherwood is a 23-year-old singer/songwriter who aims to carry the torch of country music and continue the legacy of legends prior. Bryce was born and raised in Woodstock, GA, and his passion for music began at an early age. Working on his grandfather’s farm every summer, Bryce was exposed to the classic country hits of George Jones, Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty. Soon thereafter, Bryce began picking up guitars and playing the traditional country music that still inspires him today. Bryce’s music career began to blossom in Statesboro, GA, where he attended Georgia Southern University. During his time in Statesboro, Bryce played college venues and continued to hone his stage presence and his country music repertoire. In late 2021 while still enrolled in college, Bryce formed his band and began playing all around the Southeast. Bryce’s goal was to take the stage and play the best of country music to all ages and audiences. After graduating college, Bryce set his mind on a new task. In 2022, he competed on the NBC hit television show The Voice and was crowned the Season 22 winner in December of 2022. Following his success on “The Voice,” Bryce signed with Republic Records / Universal Music Group Nashville and is currently hard at work on new music.

BLANCO BROWN RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED EP "HEARTACHE & LEMONADE"

GRAMMY® nominated vocalist, producer, songwriter & global sensation, Blanco Brown, releases his new EP, HEARTACHE & LEMONADE, Friday, April 5th. Download, stream and purchase HEARTACHE & LEMONADE, via BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records HERE.

The EP includes four amazing tracks, including the breakout “Sunshine Shine” which kicked off this project in February. The additional tracks include “Good As it Gets,” “Energy” and “Tailgating in the Sun.”  After the incredible response to his previous hit “The Git Up” taking the world by storm - 11x platinum and 4 billion streams, Blanco was on his way to great success, until tragedy struck when a drunk driver hit him head on riding his motorcycle almost killing him. After being resuscitated in the ambulance and twelve blood transfusions, Blanco faced a long road to recovery re-learning to walk and hold a mic again. Blanco's journey to this EP has been nothing short of miraculous, overcoming adversity and finding inspiration in life's bitter lemons. With a renewed spirit and a second chance at life, he's bringing a whole new chapter of electrifying music straight to your ears. When asked about the album title, Blanco says that when going through a heartache, a little lemonade makes everything a little bit better.

“This EP feels a bit different for me," said Brown. “I’ve now traveled the world, looked death in the eyes and somehow made it back alive. Bitter moments never lasted, sweeter moments brought me back to purpose. ‘Sunshine Shine’ is about being a ray of light to somebody all the time and if everybody did that nobody would feel dark because we would be shining our light on each other. HEARTACHE & LEMONADE brings about a new chapter.”

Known for his bombastic personality and infectious laugh, Blanco Brown is redefining the country music scene one hit at a time. With his distinct style he coined “Trailer Trap”, this highly anticipated project promises to deliver a fresh and dynamic experience showcasing Blanco Brown's versatility as a singer, songwriter and producer. Blanco, known for breaking barriers and pushing the boundaries of country music, brings his distinctive style and charisma to every track on the EP and the project is a testament to his ability to seamlessly fuse various genres, creating a sound that is uniquely his own.

From the first track "Energy," it's clear that global smash Blanco Brown has a pulse on the direction of the country genre. His branded "Trailer Trap" sound amplifies the stories & arrangements on this project. Blanco's dripping-with-soul vocals also sonically shine throughout, building universal connections with listeners.

The second offering is the serene “Tailgating in the Sun.” This story reminisces on those relationships where you want to soak up every minute with your partner. He sings about laying on the tailgate “until the sun comes up” with a person who can “make magic out of the damage.” It’s a song about loving even when you are at your lowest.

Blanco does it again with “Good As It Gets." “It’s about finding that someone to spend the rest of your life with, someone you can’t live without… Tonight, everything that could’ve gone wrong went right and that moment wouldn’t be the same without you,” explained Blanco.

“Sunshine Shine”, the closing track on the project, is a feel-good anthem that radiates positivity and resilience, offering a perfect blend of catchy melodies and 808 beats that will undoubtedly resonate with fans across the globe. HEARTACHE & LEMONADE will solidify why Billboard named him the "Top New Country Artist" (2019).

About Blanco Brown:
Blurring the lines between Country, Hip-Hop & Soul, Blanco Brown makes a southern sound that he proudly calls "Trailer Trap." Honing in on his unique sound, Blanco balances both the metropolis and country settings in which he grew up. His viral hit “The Git Up” (certified 11x PLATINUM across three countries) took the world by storm, claiming the top spot in charts across the globe and spawning nearly four billion views across social platforms. It claimed the No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 12 weeks and was the top-selling digital Country song in the US for 13 weeks, resulting in Billboard naming him as their No. 1 Top New Country Artist for 2019. Apart from being a Grammy-nominated engineer who has worked with the likes of Fergie, Childish Gambino, Kane Brown and Chris Brown, the multi-talent’s multi-national Platinum-certified collaboration “Just the Way” with Parmalee garnered more than 500 million on-demand streams, earning Brown his first No. 1 hit on Country radio (in the US and Canada). More recently, he doubled down on his genre-bending collaborations, teaming with Nelly on the funky, country inspired track “High Horse,” T.I. for “Trap Still Bumpin’,” LOCASH and the late Leslie Jordan for the funky “Let It Slide,” while pairing with Diplo for “Do Si Do” and Lee Brice and R3HAB for the remix of Brice’s hit song, “Soul.” In 2021, Blanco Brown also lent soaring vocals to the song “Never Gonna Tame You (Original Song from “The Mustangs: America’s Wild Horses”),” written by Diane Warren. Recovering from a life-threatening accident and leaning on music to heal, Blanco released “Nobody’s More Country” in 2021. Then, while hitting the road hard last summer, he instantly captured the attention of festival audiences across the nation opening his set with a breathtakingly powerful cover blend of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey.” Showcasing his world-class vocal talent and captivating stage presence throughout 2023, Blanco released emotionally charged track “I’ll Never,” unlike anything the No. 1 hitmaker has ever released, followed by a momentous tribute to the late, great John Denver with Brown’s release of "Take Me Home, Country Roads.” With the release of HEARTACHE & LEMONADE, this A-Town resident’s branded “Trailer Trap” sound amplifies the stories & arrangements on this EP. Blanco’s dripping-with-soul vocals also sonically shine throughout as displayed in "Sunshine, Shine” and it carries through to “Energy”, “Good As It Gets”, and “Tailgating in the Sun.”

"'Another Shot' has been a personal favorite for a long time, and when I added it to the live set on the headlining tour, seeing the fans sing the words back to me by the second chorus, it solidified that I had to record it” said Hummon. “I wrote the song with my producer Eric Arjes and buddy Jimmy Robbins, and pretty much anything I write with those guys are songs I automatically fall in love with and I think my fans will truly love this one if they haven’t heard it live already!”

Hummon, who co-wrote the song with Eric Arjes and Hayes, recently performed it at the Revolutionary Love Concert benefiting Thistle Farms.

ERRA Share "Slow Sour Bleed" Video — WATCH // "CURE" Out Now

Prolific metalcore progressives ERRA will release their new album CURE, this Friday, April 5 via UNFD.

Today, the band has shared the video for "Slow Sour Bleed." Watch it below

The track is very special for the band and finds ERRA taking a sonic risk — to great reward.

"This song scratches an itch of influence that we haven't had the courage to explore in the past," says guitarist Jesse Cash. "We covered 'Heresy' a few years ago and it was so fun to listen to, so we wanted to do an original song in the spirit of Nine Inch Nails."

CURE is the band's sixth album and it highlights and expands on the forward-thinking sound and guitar-driven style that the band has built its reputation on. Following 2021's self-titled release, CURE is a stunning execution of both raw talent and surgical technicality. It's as emotional powerful as it is musically proficient, which is not an easy feat to achieve. Yet ERRA make it look and sound easy. CURE is a sonic thrill ride — one that you hope will never end.

Additionally, the band has announced its upcoming Spring 2024 headline North American tour, with Make Them Suffer, Void of Vision, and Novelists as support. The tour kicks off on April 23 in Philly and runs through June 2 in NYC. All dates are below, with several major markets already sold out. Get tickets here.

ABOUT ERRA:
ERRA
's sixth album, CURE, strengthens and deepens the forward-thinking progressive metalcore they built their reputation on. It's an album full of atmospheric ecstasy and moody groove on the heels of their stunning 2021 self-titled set. CURE charts an ambitious course for ERRA's next era.

Fueled by creative muses akin to Tool, Deftones, and Gojira, ERRA's body of work stands beside the best of the genre, with celebrated songs beloved by fans of contemporaries like Sleep Token and Spiritbox. A mathematic pummel akin to Meshuggah remains, but ERRA is decidedly in its own lane.

ERRA regularly appears on tastemaker playlists like Kickass Metal on Spotify. While several heavy bands are known to mine the rich potential of the juxtaposition between screaming and singing, the ever-opinionated Metal Sucks pointed out that "perhaps no band is doing this better than ERRA." Alternative Nation chose ERRA to represent Alabama in a list of The Best Metal Bands in Each State.

Titanic riffs and enchanting melodies litter the cerebral, immersive soundscapes powering each of their progressive metal albums. They've toured extensively, with bands including Bad Omens, TesseracT, Ice Nine Kills, Dance Gavin Dance, August Burns Red, and Northlane.

A pair of self-released EPs lead to a label deal for their debut album, 2011's Impulse. ERRA's sophomore set, Augment, was No. 1 on Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart in 2013. Drift gave ERRA another Heatseekers No. 1 in 2016. The streak continued with Neon in 2018. ERRA (2021) garnered praise from critics and fans. CURE remains anchored in the progressive and technical style ERRA helped shape. It boasts a brilliant combination of creative energy and expansive accessibility.

ERRA is part mind-altering substance, part meditation, reveling in each musical moment of exultation. As a band of brothers and a creative force, ERRA strives to live in alignment with the present moment. As their music finds the balance between the crushingly heavy and the headily melodic, its members seek to find harmony between the needs of the individual and the natural flow of this shared reality.

This album celebrates friendship, unity and the feeling of belonging to a group, a tribe. Being a part of what most people would call the goth and post-punk community is, according to the band, a great privilege.

Of course, there are dark sides to everything, but after being on the road and meeting people from the music scene for so many years, the band have experienced a caring and welcoming community. Old and young. Some with a similar background and some just for the love of the music and the culture that comes with the lifestyle.

"No one is free from apprehension and fear. Everyone feels some kind of alienation in certain degrees. You might often think you need to camouflage yourself to be part of a context. Make a change to fit in the group. The need for friendship is strong so you adapt. Maybe not always the way you hoped. But then...  there are moments when we unite and harmonize with other people and feel an incredible community together. That feeling is priceless and a blessing. Friendship is love. It is important and worth fighting for," says Alex Svenson.

Following up their 2022 album 'Hunger', released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music (Europe) and Metropolis Records (North America), these sessions capture the heart and essence of alternative rock. With electronic elements essential to the new recordings, 'Trickery' is also a salute to punk music, to which Then Comes Silence traces their roots.

After debuting with their eponymous album in 2012, Then Comes Silence put out two more albums before releasing 'Blood' via Nuclear Blast in 2016. Their subsequent 'Machine' album was jointly released via Oblivion/SPV and Metropolis Records in 2020.

Scottish music legend CHRIS CONNELLY presents 'The Lives and Loves of the Serial Homesick, Vol. 1' + video for 'Fini Chagall'

"Beautiful timbre and artistic candour... Nobody performs quite like this masterful musical chameleon...  impeccable delivery and smoothness" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Chris Connelly has never been an artist of convention... a thematic mirror, Connelly’s songs follow her story – adventurous, controversial, and misunderstood"~ Regen Magazine

"Gently stroking ears with its guitar cast melody... intense beauty. Connelly’s tones as the music are emotion and tension personified, leaving his own mark on the song whilst equally bringing forth an evocative and haunting reverberation" ~ Ringmaster Review

Chicago-based alternative music legend Chris Connelly is back with a new 8-track album. In four decades of making music, since his days with Fini Tribe in Edinburgh, he has consistently pushed the creative envelope, between his involvement in such projects as Ministry, The Revolting Cocks and Pigface, his own solo work (with over 20 releases) and the four books he has authored.

This time, he's onto something quite different - something personal that is rooted firmly in his hometown of Edinburgh, which serves as a backdrop to his latest offering 'The Lives and Loves of the Serial Homesick, Vol. 1'. Here, he explores his roots in impressive sonic fashion. Each CD even comes with its own drawing created by Connelly himself. Connelly did earlier visit Edinburgh from a historical perspective on his recent album 'The Birthday Poems' album, featuring Scottish songstress Monica Queen (Belle and Sebastian, Thrum).

"This album serves as an impressionistic view of my life in Edinburgh before I moved to the States, leaving behind what I now realize is unfinished business, unresolved aspirations, like a plant viciously ripped out by the roots and thrown away. Following the death of my mother in 2023, I spent time wandering around the streets on my own, trying to place the melancholy, trying to steal back the essence of joy I felt in my late teens/early 20s, and it inevitably led me to write, which is the way I have always been able to answer my own questions," says Connelly.

"There are 8 songs on this album, each rich with strong feelings of then and now, memories that may or may not be accurate, locations, events, friends and lovers. I want the listener to walk with me quietly through endless days and nights, through the streets of Edinburgh in the early 1980s, over the tenement rooftops, up the hills with cans of Red Stripe and a well stoked hash pipe. Sitting in the Wee Red Bar, Bannermans, The Gilded Balloon, or the Royal Circus. Playing endless nights of music with my beloved Fini Tribe, dancing at the Hoochie Coochie Club."

Chris Connelly has also shared the video for the lead track 'Fini Chagall', which was created by Kimberly Blessing and features original footage of Fini Tribe, taken by Angus Cameron in the 1980s.

"Some of these songs are half submerged in dreams, the locations distorted, the colors heightened, the times fluid. If you knew me back then, and we were pals, you are represented, and thanks for the memories.  I no longer live there – life and its commitments have me elsewhere – but I miss it badly and have never felt at home anywhere except Edinburgh, where my soul continues to walk the New Town streets and climb the hills," says Connelly.

"All physical copies of this album come with a unique drawing by myself. They are not copies, they are originals in charcoal and pencil of the memories that surround and thrive at the heart of this album. I sat down over a period of time and just drew, it was visceral, emotional, and a lot of fun.'

In 2022, Connelly released 'Eulogy to Christa: A Tribute to the Music & Mystique of Nico', produced by Chris Bruce (Meshell Ndegeocello, Seal, Aaron Neville, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys, Sheryl Crow). This colossal 20-track collection pays homage to The Velvet Underground's iconic muse and one of the most unique, tragic and misunderstood female artists in the history of modern music.

The album is out now via Shipwrecked Industries, available digitally from fine music platforms, including Apple Music, SpotifyAmazon and Bandcamp, where it is also available on CD.

Future Palace Share "Uncontrolled" Video

Our entire existence demands control – it seems all the more shocking when the feeling of self-control suddenly seems to disappear. In their new single, Future Palace set exactly this almost unbearable state of a slipping self to music and rely on some of the most powerful sonic contrasts that they have ever unleashed in their entire discography - out now worldwide via Arising Empire.

Watch/listen to new single "Uncontrolled" below.

"Uncontrolled" is driven by remarkably riff-focused instrumentals that would do even Slipknot credit. In their most epoch-making moments, the band glides into arrangements with immensely great vocal gestures, only to plunge into perhaps the dirtiest screams that singer Maria Lessing has ever uttered in the very next moment. The band is continuing a development that already began on their second album Run and with their last single "Malphas." Musically, Future Palace have now come shockingly close to the unpredictability and brutality of the dramatic themes that have always occupied them.

"Uncontrolled" was created in 2022 and was written almost at the same time as the song "Malphas," which not only has a similarly heavy musical tone as the new single, but also lyrically speaks of a struggle with oneself. The words with which singer Maria Lessing describes the experiences that gave rise to "Uncontrolled" also sound correspondingly agitated.

"The loss of control in the title primarily relates to one’s own mental health and one’s own decision-making ability," she says. "You can no longer manage to get up in the morning and have to constantly regain your strength. You can no longer manage to meet deadlines or function at all. 'Uncontrolled' represents what it feels like when everything falls apart and seems hopeless."

"Uncontrolled" is Future Palace’s first new material in almost a year. Last fall, the band played in several cities across Europe on their biggest headline tour to date, many of the shows were sold out. The music video for the new song, which was shot in Riga, Latvia, was again shot by Pavel Trebukhin, with whom the band has been working for a long time and who has already produced clips for big names such as Landmvrks, Imminence and Trivium.

Enterprise Earth Drop "I, Divine" Official Music Video Taken From New Album 'Death: An Anthology' via MNRK Heavy

"It's hard to make a five-minute deathcore song interesting from start to finish, and Enterprise Earth nailed it on "The Reaper's Servant"... It's big. It's bold. It bangs." - Revolver

"Offering an initial glimpse of the devastation packaged onto the project, Enterprise Earth have shared an eviscerating first single in "King of Ruination" featuring Ben Duerr from Shadow of Intent. Coupled with a unnerving visual directed by Nick Chance, the future for Enterprise Earth couldn't look brighter." - Knotfest.com

"The djent is strong in the Washington deathcore stalwarts' latest, which is all ultra-low-tuned chug, pitch-shifter squeals and syncopated stop-start riffs that will flip your stomach - not to mention a solo so technical and unsettling it would make Fredrik Thordendal jealous." - Guitar World

"... "King of Ruination", a sprawling, technical, foreboding piece of dark magic. Bile-drenched one moment, beautifully crafted the next, it's an incredible place to kick off such a thoughtful and thrilling chapter." - idobi Radio

Enterprise Earth have unleashed the official music video for "I, Divine" (directed by Nick Chance) today via MNRK Heavy. Taken from their excellent latest album 'Death: An Anthology', the band have previously released "King of Ruination" featuring Ben Duerr from Shadow Of Intent, "The Reaper's Servant" with special guest Darius Tehraniof Spite, "Casket of Rust" and most recently, "Blood and Teeth". Speaking on today's release, guitarist, backing vocalist, and producer Gabe Mangold shared:

"'I, Divine' was one of the tracks written during our Tahoe Cabin writing session that quite literally started out as an inebriated mock of a Juicy J style trap beat, which is the piano melody you hear in the intro. Little did we know that upon returning to it the next day we found ourselves completely inspired by it and dove into writing a "real" metal song that turned into one of our favorite songs on the record. For the video, we wanted to capture the playful and fun vibe we found while writing so what better way to do it than by making a mock rap music video??

North American fans also have their chance to see Enterprise Earth hit the stage on their headliner Death: An Anthology North American Tour with Inferi, Crown Magnetar, and Tracheotomy as support (ticket info here). Watch the music video for "I, Divine" below and stream the track at the link here.

More than anything else, we share death in common. This universal eventuality unites us. In an evolutionary sense, it effectively ensures our equality. No matter who you are, you will die. Enterprise Earth explore death from a different perspective altogether. Rather than turn away from it, the U.S. quartet—Gabe Mangold [guitar, backing vocals, production], Brandon Zackey [drums], Travis Worland [vocals], and Dakota Johnson [bass]—face it head-on with their fifth full-length offering, DEATH: AN ANTHOLOGY [MNRK HEAVY]. Against an apocalyptic soundtrack of battering ram double bass drums, gut-punching guitars, and disarmingly dynamic vocals, the group present their most immersive and inimitable vision yet.

“The album is tied together by the overarching concept of death,” Travis states. “It’s easy to think of death as a separation of consciousness from the body, but we’re delving into the death of self, individuality, and relationships—whether romantic or platonic. Dying takes many forms. I grew up extremely religious, so death has always been on my mind. In any religion, the afterlife is the umbrella for all of your beliefs. I tend to think of death from a more philosophical standpoint these days.”

The band have always incited mosh pits and thought in equal measure. Since emerging during 2014, Enterprise Earth have logged two back-to-back debuts in the Top 10 of the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart, while Loudwire cited Luciferous among the “50 Best Metal Albums of 2019.” Hysteria Mag heralded 2022’s The Chosen as “a veritable masterclass in experimentation and reinvention that shows a highly skilled band transcending its roots and making steps to become leaders of a field still being created,” while Metal Injection summed it up as “a strong statement.” Plus having toured with the likes of Thy Art Is MurderDying FetusChelsea GrinFit For An AutopsyFallujahWithin Destruction, and more.

With Gabe once again in the producer’s chair, the musicians holed up in a Lake Tahoe cabin for nine days where they penned the bulk of DEATH: AN ANTHOLOGY. It marked the first time this lineup wrote together (and in-person) as well as with Travis on vocal duties.

“We fed off one another’s energy,” recalls Gabe. “These songs felt cohesive because of that. We all had a hand in the composition.”

In the end, death may be inevitable, but you can rely on Enterprise Earth for a release in the meantime.

“We wanted to make an album that feels like who we are as a collective,” the band agreed. “On the one hand, we hope you have fun listening to it. On the other, just know, ‘Death is real and it comes for us all’. One day, we won’t be here anymore. While we’re alive, we want to enjoy it.”

Enterprise Earth Is:

Gabe Mangold [guitar, backing vocals, production]

Travis Worland [vocals]

Brandon Zackey [drums]

Dakota Johnson [bass]

Boston Manor Share "Sliding Doors" Video

BOSTON MANOR have shared the video for the new single "Sliding Doors," their second new song of 2024 and one that rides waves of spiking distortion and cuts rich grooves as it goes.

Watch the video below.

"Sliding Doors" portrays the sometimes seismic impact that the seemingly innocuous actions in our day to day lives can have. It's a song that in many ways leads right back to the start of Boston Manor.

"'Sliding Doors' is named after that movie of the same name," says singer Henry Cox. "I called it that because when we were writing it I started thinking about all of the decisions that I've made that have led me to the life I have and how circumstantial a lot of it is. It got me thinking about how Boston Manor started. I'd had a few conversations with Dan [Cunniff, bass] and Mike [Cunniff, lead guitar] (who I barely knew at the time) about starting a band. But at that time, I was in art school in a different city and I had a bunch of other stuff going on. I was also starting like two other bands with different people so I figured it was just something that you talk about."

In a world full or disorder and chaos, all we can do sometimes is respond to what's laid out in front of us. The results may be unpredictable, glorious, or devastating, but as possibility and opportunity present themselves one moment, hide themselves the next, it's how we react at those junctures that leads us on our ultimate pathway.

Expanding further, Cox says, "I'd gone home to visit my parents for the weekend and had taken a bus up to north shore to go and visit a friend, I was on my way home and the bus basically crashed. It wasn't bad; no one was hurt or anything. But I had to get off. It was super late and buses basically stop running at that time in parts of Blackpool. I had been texting Mike and it turned out the bus had crashed at the bottom of his street, so I just went round to his. We basically ended up writing the first song from our demo that night. We played our first show a few weeks later."

He continues, "If that car hadn't pulled out on that bus, we probably never would've started Boston Manor and been all the places we've been. I wouldn't have met my wife and half of my friends. I don't know if I would even be playing music now."

"Sliding Doors" is a way for the band to recognize that as we go through life and make more choices, some versions of ourselves die away, and new versions emerge. Who we become may all be down to the roll of a dice.

This is explored in the accompanying video, as Cox comments, "We tried to reflect this in the music video, the idea being it's loads of different realities, some of which I'm a musician some of which I’m doing something totally different. The diehard fans might recognize the final location, which is where we shot our very first music video, long since scrubbed from the Internet. In a way, the band we're in now feels like an alternate reality to the band we started. I look back at old videos and I barely recognize us!"

Kenny Chesney Sells Out Tampa, Philly, 3 Bostons, SUN GOES DOWN Hard in No Shoes Nation

Evidently Kenny Chesney isn’t the only one who’s excited about getting the Sun Goes Down 2024Tour on the road. With two-and-a-half weeks until kick-off, No Shoes Nation has rallied to already drive three cities into the sold-out zone. After adding an unprecedented third show at Foxborough, Mass.’s Gillette Stadium, the almost-annual end of summer/end of tour closer two-night outside Boston expanded to three nights – and then sold out, along with the always fever pitch Philadelphia Lincoln Financial Field show and tour kick-off at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

“I know how hungry I am, and the band is, to get out there and hear No Shoes Nation in full, no holds barred voice,” Chesney says. “And that starts not long after they open the parking lots up, and the sounds of all that tailgating starts wafting into our bus compounds. Sometimes I think they love these shows as much as we do. But knowing how much we love playing these songs to No Shoes Nation, it’s hard to imagine how that’s possible.”

Reached with the news at rehearsals outside Nashville, the man The Wall Street Journal crowned “The King of the Road” and the Los Angeles Times called “the people’s superstar” didn’t pause to celebrate. Taking it in, he was thrilled, but there was something else on his mind.

“With Tampa a few weeks away,” he said, “all I could think was: how do we get more people in Raymond James? To me, the whole point of kicking it off is to have absolutely everybody who wants to be there with us, singing the songs and having the time of their life in the stadium. It’s been a couple years, let’s let everyone in on that first night, new tour stadium energy.”

Pausing, he laughed, “Of course, after all these years, it’s awesome knowing these songs really are people’s life! The idea they want to come out, party with us, because something about what we sing and how No Shoes Nation rolls makes them feel alive? To me, that’s the greatest compliment and biggest affirmation an artist can have!”

Chesney called his promoters’ office back, suggesting this close to the show, but this far from when the music happens, surely there was something they could do. Happy for the news of the sell-out, he would be even happier if they could look at the sight lines, move things around on the field, even open up some obstructed views. If people wanted to be there, he wanted them under the flag on Raymond James’ pirate ship, raising their voices with everyone else.

“They’ve never let me down,” Chesney offers. “It’s one of those things where we want to make sure everyone can have a great experience, not just throw tickets up. Having done Tampa so many times, if there’s anyone who can figure out how to make it work, it’s the team who has helped us build it. Hopefully, before the weekend’s over, we’ll have some seats coming online... So if you wanted to be in Tampa, know I want you there, too – and we’re working on it.”

Once again, presented by Blue Chair Bay® Rum, the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour brings all the high velocity energy and songs people know by heart back to America’s favorite football stadiums.

DUSTIN LYNCH’S KILLED THE COWBOY TOUR SELLS OUT STANDING OVATION-WORTHY KICKOFF AT NASHVILLE’S RYMAN AUDITORIUM

Just days after being direct support on a two month-run on Blake Shelton’s BACK TO THE HONKY TONK TOUR, MULTI-PLATINUM star Dustin Lynch has launched his much-anticipated KILLED THE COWBOY TOUR, in support of his statement-making sixth studio album. Marking his first-time headlining the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, Tuesday night (4/2), the Tullahoma-native brought a SOLD-OUT standing ovation-worthy start to the 18-date trek that continues through next month with opener Skeez.

“We’ve been saying this for weeks. Literally, a bunch of times every day we’ve looked at each other on the bus and we’re like, ‘We’re headlining the Ryman!’ Not only that, you guys SOLD OUT the Ryman for us! That’s awesome,” shared Lynch onstage. “Thank you for spending your hard-earned money to be here with us tonight. That does not go unnoticed. A lot of our families are here tonight, and we get to support our families because you support our songs, our music, and our concerts – and we love you for it. Thank you very much for that.”

Adding the biggest production he’s ever brought on the road to the historic stage with a setlist curated from Killed The Cowboy (Broken Bow Records), including his current single and Jelly Roll collaboration “Chevrolet” that’s Top 30-and-climbing at Country radio, Lynch also pulled from his career batch of nine #1s like “Stars Like Confetti,” “Small Town Boy,” and “Good Girl” – a special shout-out to his mom who was in the audience, as it’s her favorite song. Keeping the celebration going post-show, Lynch hosted an official after-party at PBR Nashville, where he tried his hand at guest bartending, popped up behind the DJ booth, and even had a line dance dedicated to album release “Honky Tonk Heartbreaker” by the bar staff.

Tickets are selling fast as Lynch’s KILLED THE COWBOY TOUR stacks major city appearances in Charlotte, NC, Minneapolis, MN, Boston, MA, St. Louis, MO, and more, before capping off May 11 at Harrah's Stir Concert Cove in Council Bluffs, IA. Find full tour information and purchase tickets here. Since releasing his breakout debut album in 2012, he has become one of the most successful, recognizable, and dependable faces in Country music. Last headlining the PARTY MODE TOUR across eight months to sell-out crowds in 2022, the Grand Ole Opry member has played to over 4 MILLION fans spanning four headline tours, and hosted his own see-and-be-seen pool parties in Mexico, Las Vegas, NV, and Nashville, TN.

Next up, Lynch is vying for CMT PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR for his fiery play of “Thinking ‘Bout You” featuring MacKenzie Porter (from CMT Campfire Sessions) at the 2024 “CMT MUSIC AWARDS.” Watch the nominated performance below. Kittie Embrace Darkness On New Single "We Are Shadows"

Glass-ceiling-shattering original Queens of Metal, Kittie are thrilled to announce the release of "We Are Shadows", a powerful follow-up to their explosive comeback single "Eyes Wide Open" released in February via new label home, Sumerian Records. The new track continues the band's triumphant return offering a further look into their musical evolution after a 13-year hiatus. Stream "We Are Shadows" HERE and watch the official music video Below.

"We Are Shadows" speaks to the fading certainty in a world shrouded by looming challenges and increasing division. Both a reflection and a reckoning—a compelling narrative crafted with the band's signature intensity and a profound lyrical depth "We Are Shadows is about the uncertainty of a future that we can no longer control. We have come to a critical place in life and in our world, and much like an eclipse overtaking the sun, we are losing the light," Kittie frontwoman and guitarist, Morgan Lander shares "The image of shadows slowly fading in the evening darkness, and the analogy of 'us' as shadows in the night really illustrates the possibility of slowly fading into oblivion. It is not a song of hope however, it’s a song of coming to terms with the damage we do and acceptance of our fate. We’ve let darkness take hold, and so we are resolved to fade in the night with it”

Kittie will play multiple North American Festivals this year, including Sick New World, Welcome To Rockville, Sonic Temple, Havoc Fest, and FEQ. Full information can be found HERE.

"We Are Shadows" is now available across all digital streaming platforms, and listeners are invited to experience the commanding presence that Kittie - completed by co-founder and drummer, Mercedes Lander, guitarist Tara McLeod and bassist Ivy Vujic - has long been celebrated for. As they continue to write their next chapter, Kittie cement their status as true metal icons, never pulling any punches whilst boldly exploring the depths of their artistry.

Stay tuned for more on Kittie’s global metal domination coming soon!

ABOUT KITTIE

When you discovered Canadian bashers, Kittie, has a direct influence on how you see them. For those that were on board from the beginning with the Spit album, released in 1999, Kittie was considered part of the nu-metal movement. Going into their later albums, In The Black (2009) and I've Failed You (2011), the band had evolved into something far more sinister, and were viewed as a serious full-on metal outfit. Just as they seemed to be hitting their stride six albums into their career, however, Kittieslowly disappeared from the scene in the wake of touring for I've Failed You. The silence was eventually dubbed an "indefinite hiatus" by the band, broken only by a one-off hometown show in London, Ontario in 2017, and the release of the documentary, Kittie: Origins/Evolutions, in 2018. Until now…

Thirteen years later, that silence has been broken in earnest. Vocalist and guitarist, Morgan Lander, drummer Mercedes Lander, guitarist Tara McLeod and bassist Ivy Vujic maintain that Kittie did not break up because it is an ingrained part of their identity. The documentary and the one-off show in London were intended as a cap on everything, leaving a big question mark at what might happen down the road. Offers from promoters to do some shows in 2022 and 2023, including the sell-out, inaugural Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas, were enough to convince Kittie to dust off their instruments, resulting in a renewed interest in the band and a label deal with Sumerian Records

When they finally did gather as a unit, it was like putting on a pair of comfortable boots, with no need to break things in before getting down to business. It turns out that thirteen years away has seen the band develop growth in songwriting, arranging, lyrical content and vocal melodies, creating something monstrous and volatile. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains, Korn), Kittie have finally surfaced and unleashed their first new single, “Eyes Wide Open” on Sumerian Records. With renewed fury and unfathomable sonic brutality, the new era of Kittie has begun.

IN APHELION Unleashes New Single, "When All Stellar Light Is Lost"

A new force is awakening, stretching the boundaries of consciousness, and devouring everything in its path. IN APHELION is now ushering in their sophomore album, 'Reaperdawn,' which is due on August 9, 2024 via Century Media Records. The black metal brainchild of guitarist/vocalist Sebastian Ramstedt (best known as guitarist and songwriter with Necrophobic) is now unleashing the dark and icy first single from the offering, "When All Stellar Light Is Lost." The song can be found along with a blistering music video, which was created by Claudio Marino and Artax Film, below.

“This was the first song to be written after the last album,” says Ramstedt. “It's a quite chaotic beast where the music matches the lyrics (written by former Necrophobic member Martin Halvdan) perfectly. Even though it's a short track for IN APHELION, it gives the listener a taste of where the album is going. It is a first glance at a truly epic and violent album.”

Darker, stranger, more epic and progressive than admirers of his work were expecting, this new outlet for enigmatic and artistic expression emerged firmly tethered to the white-knuckle viciousness of benchmark, Northern European black metal, while also exhibiting a profound affiliation with both classic, traditional heavy metal and the black magic of psychedelic repetition. Based around a core line-up of Ramstedt (guitar/vocals), drummer Marco Prij (also Cryptosis), rhythm guitarist Johan Bergebäck (Necrophobic) and bassist Tobias Cristiansson (Necrophobic, ex-Grave…), IN APHELION have taken the uncompromising DIY route to their current status as new Century Media signees.

The atmosphere of “Reaperdawn” is a swirling maelstrom of obsidian sparkle and iridescent grime. Stay tuned to watch it arise!

Aphelion - the point of a planet, comet or any other body in the orbit that is most distant from the sun.

During the bleak and desolate year of 2020, a new creative entity was born within the darkness. Necrophobic guitar duo Sebastian Ramstedt and Johan Bergebäck teamed up with Dutch drummer Marco Prij of Cryptosis to forge brooding and precise sonic hostility under the moniker of IN APHELION.

After releasing a number of singles, the 'Luciferian Age' EP (2021), debut album 'Moribund' (2022), and welcoming bassist Tobias Cristiansson to the lineup, the formation took the natural next step and have now joined forces with Century Media Records, which is already home to NECROPHOBIC and CRYPTOSIS.

For Fans Of: Dissection, Watain, Emperor, Sacramentum

Lineup:

Johan Bergebäck - guitars

Tobias Cristiansson - bass

Marco Prij - drums

Sebastian Ramstedt - vocals, guitars

JEFF KOLLMAN GETS READY TO DROP NEW ALBUM AND FIRST SINGLE FEATURING CHAD SMITH

FIRST SINGLE “TONGS & THONGS” FEATURING CHAD SMITH (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) IS OUT APRIL 12

Jeff Kollman is best known for his heavy, melodic electric guitar playing, fusing elements of Jazz harmony and creating his own brand of Rock with his long running prog fusion trio, Cosmosquad, and as a member of Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats. You can also catch him live with famed producer Alan Parsons (Pink Floyd, Beatles) with The Alan Parsons Live Project and in the studio or on stage with the likes of Japanese legend Eikichi Yazawa, Asia F.J.P., Steel Pulse, Chris Isaak, Jason Mraz, Lou Gramm (Foreigner), and producing rock legends Phil Mogg (UFO), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), and Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow).

Now Jeff is set to release his latest album 2023 A.D. on May 17th which features a guest appearance by Red Hot Chili Peppers and fellow Bombastic Meatbats drummer Chad Smith on the first single “Tongs & Thongs”. As Kollman explains, “Well I wrote this song originally for our group Bombastic Meatbats. I decided to record it and feature the band including Chad Smith on drums for this recording. Chad has some great solo highlights on this tune. I told Chad to fill the holes.” Smith continues, “Tongs & Thongs is a ripper. I am honored to be part of the amazing Jeff “the bee” Kollman’s record. Crank it!”

Pre-save “Tongs & Thongs” here: https/push.fm/ps/tongs

The album also features Shane Gaalaas (MSG, Yngwie Malmsteen) Jimmy Johnson (Allan Holdsworth, James Taylor), Guy Allison (Doobie Brothers), Kevin Chown (Steelheart, Sebastian Bach) and Ed Roth (Robbie Krieger). Bassist Ric Fierabracci (Chick Corea) makes a special appearance on the bonus Vinyl track 1979.  Kollman continues, “I think that this album is some of my finest work in the sense that the songs flow together and there’s a contrast and depth in the compositions. It’s certainly my best sounding solo release. Having songs without vocals forces the writer to come up with music that doesn’t need lyrics to invoke depth of human emotion. I love that challenge as a writer. Many guitar instrumental records fall short on composition. There’s so much focus on lead guitar shredding and showing off. I like to paint a picture with many shades and colors to provide a feast for the sonic senses.”

The album boasts 12 tracks in all with 3 bonus tracks on the vinyl edition which is due out on June 21st.  It includes stand out songs like “Tribal Scream”, “Layers”, and “Battle Of The Bulge” which Kollman says about the latter, “This song has one of my favorite guitar solos. I worked this song up with Shane and Guy Erez (bassist for Alan Parsons). Good old rock riff song.”

2023 A.D. will be available on CD and limited-edition vinyl. Get your copy now and get a limited-edition bundle while supplies last: https://bit.ly/JEFF-KOLLMAN

Buckcherry to Celebrate 25th Anniversary All Month Long!

Buckcherry's debut album turns 25 this year and the band is celebrating all through 2025.

Beginning April 6, frontman and founding member Josh Todd will take us down memory lane through a series of "The Story Behind The Song and Album" confessionals giving insight of the songs and the history behind some of the moments writing and recording the album. The videos will be released on the band's socials + website through the coming months.

Released on April 6, 1999, by DreamWorks Records, "Lit Up," "For the Movies," "Dead Again," and "Check Your Head" were released as singles. After peaking at #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers, the album has sold in excess of 1,000,000 copies worldwide. The album was certified Gold by both the RIAA and Canada, making it DreamWorks' first Gold album.

"Lit Up" reached #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for three consecutive weeks and #33 on the Modern Rock Tracks in mid-1999 and peaked at #74 on Billboard’s Top 200. The song was not without controversy due to the lyrical references to cocaine, which even led to MTV censoring the video for broadcast, but that didn't stop it from becoming one of the most popular rock songs from the era and has since accrued nearly 70 million streams on Spotify and 23 million views on YouTube  It even made VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs in January 2009, landing at #98.

Dayseeker Share Video for Acoustic Version of "Neon Grave"

Southern California's DAYSEEKER  Rory Rodriguez [vocals], Gino Sgambelluri [guitar], Ramone Valerio [bass], and Zac Mayfield [drums] — recently announced their forthcoming acoustic album Replica, which arrives digitally on April 19 and physically on June 14 via Spinefarm. Pre-order it here.

The stripped down, intimate renditions of familiar fan favorites highlight the band's songcraft and allow the listener to experience Dayseeker in an entirely new way. The collection also includes appearances from Holding Absence's Lucas Woodland and indie artist Amber DeLaRosa.

The band just dropped the video for their stripped down and emotionally immediate version of fan fave "Neon Grave." Watch it below.

"'Neon Grave' is about my father's battle and passing from cancer," states Rodriguez. "Getting to reimagine this one in a slower setting has a completely different emotion to it now."

Replica is the somewhat unexpected (yet welcomed) result of a specific gig in 2022, when the band's gear overheated at Blue Ridge Rock Festival. Thinking on his feet, Rodriguez grabbed an acoustic guitar from the van, plugged in, and performed "Without Me." Soon, he had pulled together a five-song set on the fly as thousands of fans flocked to the stage.

"I felt like we let people down, but I had so many friends say, 'Everyone will remember the day your equipment stopped working and you still played the set as a really special moment’,'" he recalls. "It felt natural for our songs. We usually will do extra tracks for a Deluxe version or re-release, but we decided to commit to an entire acoustic album this time."

Dayseeker will also embark on a headline tour this spring. The tour kicks off April 19 in Tampa and runs through May 25 in San Diego. All dates are below, including spring festival appearances, such as Rockfest, Earthday Birthday, and more. Polaris, Rain City Drive, Avoid, and Ayron Jones are set to appear at select dates. Get tickets here

ABOUT DAYSEEKER:
Dayseeker are a quiet killer. The band has steadily built a buzz over the past several years — and they have reached a tipping point. Dayseeker have become a scene standout with 2019's Sleeptalk, which was hailed by Alternative Press as  "a warm and welcome release to higher ground" and as "much needed fresh air into the post-hardcore scene.

The album has gone on to accumulate over 125 million streams, and it positioned the band as a formidable force — and one that is primed to take its next big leap. In 2021, the band dropped a deluxe version of Sleeptalk, featuring four reimagined versions of album tracks, which offered fans a fresh and unique take on songs they already love. It also demonstrated the depth and breadth of the band's creative vision, scope, and possibilities. However, Dark Sun catapulted the band beyond the scene's stratosphere. The album is out now via Spinefarm and is at 80 millions streams.

ABOUT SPINEFARM:
Spinefarm represents some of the biggest and most important rock acts in the world. Founded in Finland in 1990, the label established itself as an independent powerhouse for successful European metal acts from Nightwish to Children Of Bodom. Acquired by UMG in 2002, Spinefarm Music Group is now home to a host of artists that reach millions of fans across the globe and showcases the very best in rock, punk and metal. From massive metal names such as Bullet For My Valentine (with over 3 billion streams to their name) to alt-rock legends Killing Joke and genre-benders Sleep Token, Spinefarm's artists are — and always have been —true leaders in their chosen field. The roster also includes renowned names like Atreyu, Airbourne, Saint Asonia, and While She Sleeps, as well as fast-rising young artists like Dayseeker, Dead Poet Society, Kid Kapichi, BRKN LOVE, and Creeper. Spinefarm, now flanked by associated SMG labels Candlelight (Emperor, Ihsahn, Urne) and Snakefarm (Marty Stuart, Austin Meade, The White Buffalo), has grown from its independent origins into a true global rock powerhouse.

The Shadow Majlis presents 'Deer in the Headlights' from 'The Departure' album, featuring members of Love & Rockets, Tricky & DakhaBrakha

"A powerful achievement... I believe that there are certain tracks and moments that act as portals into another dimension - I'm not being fanciful here!" ~ David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets)

"With Ali Jafri at the helm on vocals, guitars, bass, electric sitar, synths, programming, this debut offering from The Shadow Majlis is diverse and stunning, involving a dream-team – not only in terms of production, but also collaborators, ranging from true music legends of our generation and top-notch artists from around the world" ~ The Spill Magazine

Toronto-based artist The Shadow Majlis presents 'Deer in the Headlights' from the debut album 'The Departure', following the latest single 'Mazdur'. Moving from devastation through the creation of this album has been medicine for the soul, resulting in an alternative sonic reality where we can all find solace and relief.

The Shadow Majlis [pronounced "mahj-lis"] revolves around multi-instrumentalist Ali Jafri, whose multi-cultural artistic and musical vision was realized together with David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets) on bass and Rakesh Tewari (Jaffa Road, The Special Interest Group) on drums and percussion, with cover art by Stephen Seto (Splintercage).

Perhaps best known as a member of David J's live band or for playing rock-sitar with Pigface, Ali Jafri also leads projects ARIEL, The Gotham City Drugstore and Saintfield, in addition to his his solo work. Produced and mixed by three-time Grammy Award winning producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Tool, David Sylvian, Mastodon, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Real World Studios), this album was engineered by Darren McGill and mastered by Noah Mintz.

The album features numerous guest performers, including vocalist Olena Tsybulska (DakhaBrakha), guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission, Peter Murphy, MGT, Tricky, Gary Numan), cellist Anne Bourne (Loreena McKennitt, Jane Siberry), Tuvan throat singer Soriah, Ravi Naimpally (Niyaz, Constantinople) on tabla, Pankaj Mishra on sarangi, Selmanpak Ayduz on ney, Kerem Koktas on kemanche, and Sasha Singer-Wilson on backing vocals.

The most poignant and powerful artistic output stems from tragedy, and The Shadow Majlis is no exception. Amid a deluge of personal upheaval, this album has been Jafri's means to address his grief over losing his seven-year-old son Oisín, who passed away in September 2022 after a nine-month battle with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (a highly aggressive form of brain cancer), the dissolution of his conjugal relationship, and a year-long state of temporary homelessness.

"The “Deer” in 'Deer in the Headlights' is Oisín as Oisín means “little deer” and is taken from Irish folklore. This song is special for me with its high energy percussion and features David J‘s bass line driving the rhythm section. It also features Soriah and his Tuvan throat singing, the meditative nature of the throat singing up against the franticness of the rest of the song, I think, is juxtaposed beautifully and speaks to the gracefulness that Oisín carried himself with amidst the difficulties he faced as a child dying from cancer,' says Ali Jafri.

"And it’s apropos that his name means “little deer” because he was a graceful child. He lived and died with grace. The song also speaks to his short life and sudden decline - his cancer battle only lasted nine months. He had a huge impact on everyone that knew him and the bravery he showed in his last days is nothing short of incredible. We had a brief yet profound time with him. He’ll always be frozen in time at the age of 7 - his short life, a moment of grace. We didn't know what hit us, and we certainly didn't see it coming til it was too late".

Showcasing genre-fluid excellence and raw emotional experience, The Shadow Majlis fuses elements of Eastern modes with post-punk. An alternative neo-global style that transcends borders, alternative music is merged with the rich, diverse instrumentation and rhythms of world music. Recorded in Toronto, LA, Portland, Istanbul, Kyiv and Iceland, this is truly an international affair, with languages such as Urdu, Farsi, Arabic, Icelandic and Ukrainian woven with English throughout this album.

Calling the album a powerful achievement, David J says, "I believe that there are certain tracks and moments that act as portals into another dimension - I'm not being fanciful here!"

'The Departure' album is out now, available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. This album's creation was made possible through funding received from FACTOR.
