Paleface Swiss Announce 'Fear & Dagger' US Headline Tour with Enterprise Earth, VCTMS & Crown Magnetar

Following the release of brand new single, "Please End Me" and their recent debut US tour, PALEFACE SWISS have today announced that they will once again be crossing the Atlantic for the 'Fear & Dagger North America Tour'. The band's first ever Stateside headline run will also feature a monumental support line-up of Enterprise Earth, VCTMS and Crown Magnetar. Tickets are on-sale now and available from www.palefaceswiss.com/tour

Speaking on the announcement of his band's first ever headline run, Paleface Swiss frontman Marc 'Zelli' Zellweger shares

"We can't wait to hit the streets of the US once again and finally visit Canadian cities. Not only did a small Swiss boy's dream come true by touring the US for the first time this year, but returning with our own headline tour is mind-blowing for us. The excitement of seeing familiar and new faces singing along to our songs has us hyped for September and October. It will be a long ride, but one that will be totally worth it!

WE CAN'T WAIT, NORTH AMERICA!"

2023 has been an absolute rager of a year for PALEFACE SWISS. The band have been touring extensively in support of their 2022 release 'Fear & Dagger', beginning with their first ever US tour - the entirely sold-out "The Big Team Battle" tour with Bodysnatcher, Angelmaker and Distant - which saw them ignite insane mosh pits and gain hoards of new fans in every city they played. They dropped stand alone single, "Best Before: Death" on March 1st which quickly became a live-set highlight and new fan favourite, followed by the release of second stand-alone single, "Please End Me" last week.

Following the US tour, the band returned to Europe where they hit the road with Counterparts, Kublai Khan and Dying Wish which saw more sold out shows in major cities. They played a killer set at Hellfest, which was live-streamed and is available to watch HERE. The band also played Jera On Air in the Netherlands and then play Vainstream and Full Force Festivals in Germany and Fatjfest in Czech Republic before returning to the US to play Blue Ridge Rock Festival in September and to kick off their first ever Stateside headline tour (full routing below).

ABOUT PALEFACE SWISS

Since the release of their third album, 'Chapter 3: The Last Selection', independent outfit, PALEFACE SWISS have gained international recognition throughout the Deathcore and Beatdown Community. Known for their huge, aggressive riffs, brutally bombastic rhythm section, frontman, Zelli's outstanding vocals and a pinch of humor. This is Switzerland’s finest heavy music. Across their catalog, the band have gained 40 million streams and 6.7 million YouTube views.

PALEFACE SWISS was formed in Zurich, Switzerland in 2017 by vocalist Marc Zellweger (Zelli) and drummer Colin Hammond (CJ) having met through a mutual friend in 2016. After bonding over a shared love of beatdowns and hardcore, Zelli and CJ shook hands at a concert in 2017 and promised they would create the craziest beatdown band ever together. They released their debut ‘Chapter 1: From The Gallows’ in 2018 and played their first show in October 2018 and quickly grew in popularity with the song “Deprivation Method”.

In early 2019, Paleface started writing ‘Chapter 2: Witch King’ and started working on the final installment of the dark story they’d created with Chapters 1 & 2. ‘Chapter 3: The Last Selection’ was released on October 30th 2020, spawning four music huge tracks “Curse Us”, “The Rats”, "Lights Out" and “Skalpell” which quickly ranked high in the beatdown/hardcore charts and saw the band become cover stars on Spotify’s Heavy Beatdown playlist.

In 2022 the band released their most ambitious and brutal album yet, 'Fear & Dagger'. The album was widely considered a huge step up for the band as plaudits began to roll in for frontman Zelli's vocal ability, Metal Injection accurately summed it up in their review by saying, "It's fun to get caught up in Paleface's unrelenting instrumentals, but Zelli's really the star of Paleface. This is largely because he treats his screams like rap bars." The album shot the band into the upper echelons of the "deathcore renaissance" and spawned singles "The Orphan", "Deathtouch", "Dead Man's Diary" feat. LANDMVRKS frontman Florent Salfati and most recently, fan favourite and stylistic curveball, "My Grave / Lay with Me". The album focuses on more mature and critical topics related to the fears and struggles young people have to contend with in the 21st century, most importantly, the topic of mental health.

The album's technical proficiency and no-holds barred brutality, coupled with Zelli's unique delivery and highly emotional lyrics struck a chord with fans worldwide, racking up 15 million cross-platform streams, nearly 1 million YouTube views and saw the band's monthly Spotify users increase by over 300%, currently at 320k. It was released to much acclaim with New Transcendence stating "Paleface have created one of the most emotionally relevant and intriguing beatdown releases to date" and Wall of Sound calling it "an unashamedly brutal and angry album" and calling the band

As Metal Injection so astutely put it in their review of 'Fear & Dagger' - "Stop pretending to be cultured, and get down with the beatdown.".

THE RED STATE BLUES

Little piggy, squeal / When we cop a feel / You don't contest or don't mess with the man

With the gun in his hand

Wrists bound / Sewn mouth / You won't make a sound

Oh no / You can not go / We've got plans for you / As you're singing the red state blues

If you've got something to say then spit it out, 'cause you're up next in the scramble. There's no

one to hear you, no one to spare you, so let's scream together, say 'AH!'

Little piggy bitch /It's time to scratch that itch / You might have lost the map

But you followed the laughter/ And got what you were after

Hog tied /Wide-eyed/ In the countryside

Sweet breeze /Be free

You'd better run, piggy / Run piggy, run / You'd better run, boy

THE RED STATE BLUES premieres June 23 rd , 2023 on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Pandora,

FOUNDING MEMBER OF BLUE ÖYSTER CULT ALBERT BOUCHARD RELEASING FINAL INSTALLMENT OF IMAGINOS TRILOGY, SECOND SINGLE FEATURING THE DICTATORS OUT NOW!

Albert Bouchard is best known as a founding member of Blue Öyster Cult, the original lineup sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning for You.” Bouchard contributed to songwriting and lead vocals on some of its greatest songs, such as “Cites on Flame With Rock and Roll.”

Albert Bouchard is back with Imaginos III – Mutant Reformation, wrapping up the trilogy of Imaginos. Bouchard has shepherded the concept of Imaginos through its many incarnations over the years, translating Sandy Pearlman’s feverish visions into sonic resonance. As Bouchard states, “Sandy’s not being here to feel the long-awaited culmination is perhaps the greatest irony of this epic journey through the invisibility of conspiracy, the shape-shifting, and eternal light that is Desdinova. But legend lives on, as will tales told ‘round the fire of when Man still walked the Earth, and the carnage had yet to begin. Hear the final chapter in this monumental saga when the record is released on July 7, 2023.”

The first single was Bouchard’s take on the Blue Öyster Cult fan favorite “E.T.I.,” featuring brother Joe Bouchard on lead vocal, Isabella Kosal on background vocals, and R.J. Ronquillo on lead guitar.

Now Bouchard releases the second single “Transmaniacon,” featuring the current lineup of the Dictators. Bouchard had this to say, “I wanted to make a version of “Transmaniacon” that had a heavier approach, proto-metal with a punk flavor. The guys
in the new Dictators were just the group to deliver that. I know it’s a fan favorite with BÖC fans, but I hope they can appreciate it as much as the original--just like they did for
‘E.T.I.’ ”

The album is available now for preorder and features guests “Ross the Boss” Friedman and Andy Shernoff (Dictators); Joe Cerisano (Silver Condor, TSO); Kenny Aaronson (Billy Idol, Bob Dylan); and Kasim Sulton (Utopia, Meat Loaf). It reunites original Blue Öyster Cult members Eric Bloom and Joe Bouchard, as well as current BÖC member Richie Castellano, who all contribute to this latest installment. The album also features reworks of classics like “E.T.I.,” “Godzilla,” and “Sole Survivor.” There will be limited- edition bundles, including a very limited colored-vinyl option (only 250 copies).

Check Out PHASERS ENGAGE Release New Single, "Awoken Intelligence"!

Electronic Rock band PHASERS ENGAGE has released their new single, "Awoken Intelligence." Fusing bouncy synths with infectious guitar rhythms and energetic percussion, "Awoken Intelligence" is off of the quartet's debut album, Departure Initiated!

“ 'Awoken Intelligence' is the second chapter of the story arc that is the album Departure Initiated. Our heroes find themselves in a new dimension, one where thought and reality are no longer separated.” - PHASERS ENGAGE

Phasers Engage is the crew of the interdimensional subspace vessel The Transcendence. This ship is actuated by their music and allows the crew to travel to new states of existence. Departure Initiated tells of the members finding each other outside of their normal states of reality, their journey together to get through what lies ahead (including, of course, a boss battle), and finally their discovery of The Transcendence. Their departure is initiated and they set forth, unbound, toward adventure.

The Devil's Trade Can See Clearly Now

The Devil's Trade is forging a new path. What started ten years ago as a solitary journey between Dávid György Makó and his banjo has grown into something that looks more like a band.

For 'Vidékek Vannak Idebenn', Makó leaned heavier on electronic textures. You could hear the added impact on
the album's first single, which is shrouded in synths that shift like smoke over a mountain. But he also brought in his old friend and former bandmate  Gáspár Binder, whose dark and stormy drumming sets off the clanging explosions of the title track.

"Clear Like the Wind" is something else. While it's still shadowed by ghostly synth glows, the stripped-down production harkens back to the very first Devil's Trade album. It's so quiet that you can hear Makó's right hand sliding up and down his guitar, repeating a simple but haunted melody, perhaps as a way to revisit this moment of regret.

'Vidékek Vannak Idebenn' came at a strange time for Makó. He could see that one period of his life was ending but couldn't quite tell when the next one would start. Instead, he found himself in a paraylzed state, floating somewhere between the past and present. "Clear Like the Wind" is about reaching out for help, but the lyrics could be addressed to Makó's younger self.

"Why can't we stay still?" he asks, his voice burly and weathered as a fallen oak branch. "Give me your hand before you leave".

"This one comes from a very weird place", Makó says about the new single. "When you're proper depressed, you don't even think of being depressed. You are just sitting in an empty place alone, being not able to let in anything that could help. You don't even create from this darkness. You are unable to express anything. I had been there and when you are able to make a sound, it is when you are slowly getting out of that place, even if only for a few minutes. This song comes from these minutes when I was able to realize my life had fallen to pieces. I am still unable to stand up and I let the only one who could have helped me leave."

liminal
/ˈlɪmɪnl/
adjective
TECHNICAL

  1. occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.

"I was in the liminal space between past and present"

It is of no surprise liminal space is a key element in the next phase of The Devil’s Trade’s fourth album, ’Vidékek vannak idebenn’ (a title that loosely translates to ’There Are Landscapes Within’) as Dávid Makó, the man behind the moniker has indeed arrived to a threshold in his career, where the phase starting with his self-released debut ’Those Miles We Walked Alone’ ended after his latest album ’The Call of the Iron Peak’. The concept of liminal space itself is a not necessarily pleasant state of mind where you left behind your old life, but new doors haven’t exactly opened just yet.

As Makó states ’The process my first three records pieced together ended, that was no path for me to take anymore, but to take a step forward I had to make decisions I wasn’t inspired enough to make.’ – and from this frustrated, sort of paralyzed state of floating, a new incarnation of The Devil’s Trade was born and so was ‘Vidékek vannak idebenn’ along with it.

While still true to his solo artist roots, delivering gut-wrenching melodies of darkness and beauty on his own, Makó needed an expansion to his universe. With the addition of long-time friend and former bandmate Gáspár Binder on drums and a live keyboard player, he finally took the much needed step forward and ‘Vidékek vannak idebenn’ portrays the next sonic phase of The Devil’s Trade.

A soundtrack to the next phase of his life. A soundtrack to souls stuck in liminal space, hungry to adapt to new realities and to grow further, outside the boundaries which so often shackle them.

"I got the blessing from [singer] Jacoby [Shaddix] and I think that Papa Roach are one of the nicest, humble, and most down to earth bands to date and it inspires me to keep going, since they have been so successful for so many years. This is me paying homage in the best way I know how."

ABOUT FALLING IN REVERSE:
Platinum-selling rock band Falling In Reverse, lead by outspoken and charismatic singer Ronnie Radke, have been completely dominating the radio and streaming space in this new decade. The band, which formed back in 2008 and built itself as a mainstay of the Warped Tour scene while gracing many Alternative Press covers, has seen its latest single "Zombified" hit No. 1 Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs Chart. The band has also been generating nearly 50 million total streams per month. Falling In Reverse's previous chart-topping single "Popular Monster" earned platinum RIAA status. The track is truly a juggernaut and is a watershed moment for the band. "Popular Monster" has been streamed nearly half-a-billion times and has emerged as one of the biggest anthems of the past several years. It enjoyed a multi-week stint at No. 1 on the rock radio charts, landing in the top spot on the Mediabase Active Rock Chart, Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Chart, and the Nielsen Rock Chart, and marked the first No.1 single of the band's career. It followed the gold certification of the band's 2011-released debut album The Drug in Me Is Youand a sold-out anniversary tour. During the shutdown that was a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Radke quickly established himself as one of the most popular musicians streaming on the Twitch platform. In Winter 2022, the band returned to the road and embarked on the sold-out "Live From the Unknown" tour, further cementing its status as one of the top live draws in the genre. Falling In Reverse have continued to catch the eye of the press, with their career arc being spotlighted by top-tier, tastemaking publications such as Forbes, Billboard, New York Times, Pitchfork, and beyond.

VRSTY Share "The Plug" — LISTEN

New York City-based collective VRSTY (pronounced "Varsity") — Joey Varela [vocals], Javy Dorrejo [bass], Chris Cody [drums], and Paul Gregory [guitar] — are serving up a brand new track with "The Plug."

It's a confident track, powered by Varela's vocals, synths, and powerhouse riffs. It doesn't adhere to any genre specifications or parameters — and that's what makes VRSTY stand out from the pack.

"'The Plug' was only the song that came to me naturally, because I was literally living it as I was writing it," Varela shares, pulling back the curtain on the song's in-real-time and incredibly personal nature. "It's about convincing yourself that you're in love with the good in a person when in actuality, you're addicted to the hell they bring into your life. They essentially become the dealer of all your problems and you can't help but buy what they're selling."

The band is currently on tour with Secrets, For the Fallen Dreams, Outline in Color, and Nerv. All dates are below.

VRSTY ON TOUR:
WITH SECRETS, FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS, OUTLINE IN COLOR, + NERV:
6/22 — Houston, TX — White Oak Music Hall
6/23 — Dallas, TX — Cheapsteaks
6/24 — San Antonio, TX — Vibes Event Center
6/26 — Nashville, TN — The End
6/27 — West Columbia, SC — New Brookland Tavern
6/28 — Greensboro, NC — Hangar 1819
6/29 — Philadelphia, PA — Milk Boy
7/1 — Thompson, CT — Capulet Fest

ABOUT VRSTY:
Welcome Home is the band's debut full length for the label and follows last year's breakthrough Cloud City EP, which has accumulated six million streams in less than a year and yielded the head-turning singles "
Shameless" and "Massive." The latter was the most played on SiriusXM's Octane for two weeks in a row in late 2020. VRSTY have perfected their seamless and fearless cross-pollination of metallic grooves and R&B-influenced, after midnight vocal swagger on this 14-track offering. VRSTY aren't just offering their own take on a genre; they have authored a fusion style that is entirely their own. "Welcome Home is an incredibly personal album to me," Varela shares. "I know everybody says that, and hey, maybe they're not lying when they do. I sure as hell am not. It was definitely a task, at first, trying to figure out how to phrase or sing something without getting too personal. But somewhere along the way, I threw that idea out the window and decided to say exactly what I felt. You won't find me trying to sound cool or using any fancy wordplay. It's just me in my rawest form, saying exactly what I've felt or experienced over the years, which is what has made me who I am today. I think if anybody ever wants to get to know me, this record will give you everything you need to know. No secrets. Just me." The band has also tallied an impressive 25 million streams in the U.S.

TESTAMENT AND NUCLEAR BLAST, A MATCH MADE IN HELL

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce that the complete TESTAMENT catalog has been acquired and the band signed for an additional 3 albums in the future! The signing took place before the band’s fiery performance at Hellfest this past weekend. Fans will now be able to listen to the band's seminal albums The Legacy and The New Order on the DSP of their choice!

Chuck Billy states, "After a long history of making music and TESTAMENT teaming up with Nuclear Blast in 2008 with The Formation of Damnation to the current release Titans of Creation, we have taken it to the next level and have reclaimed our 6 albums from Atlantic Records and have delivered them to Nuclear Blast to be re-released. Along with the Atlantic catalog, TESTAMENT will sign a new 3-album deal with NB worldwide. We are so grateful to be with the Best Heavy Metal label in the world that will spread TESTAMENT's Legacy."

Eric Peterson
comments, "We signed with NB back in 2008 and it’d been a perfect fit for us ever since then. Incidentally, our older catalog with Atlantic Records - The Legacy, The New Order, Practice What You Preach, Souls of Black, The Ritual, and Low - have returned to us and we feel it’s a great new start to have NB Release these albums again with some new unreleased artwork, photos, etc. Also, we will be signing a new three-album deal with them! So the future for Metal is looking very, very bright! Cheers!"

Tommy Jones Nuclear Blast U.S. Label Manager adds:
"One of my favorite guitars as a kid was my dark red Ibanez Saber (540S) with the wizard neck. I purchased that guitar to sound like Alex Skolnick who played that model and color back in the day. So all these years later to be signing those OG, genre-defining TESTAMENT albums that were such an early influence like The New Order, Practice What You Preach, and Souls of Black, as well as new TESTAMENT albums to Nuclear Blast, is completing a full circle for me. Truly an 'If the 15-year-old me could see this' type of moment. It’s time to continue 'The Legacy' with Nuclear Blast!”

MEMPHIS MAY FIRE — Matty Mullins (vocals), Kellen McGregor (guitar), Cory Elder (bass), and Jake Garland (drums) — have shared the very special video for the new single "
Misery" from last year's Remade in Misery album, out now via Rise Records. Watch it below.

"With 'Misery' being the song we named the album after, it obviously holds a lot of weight," states Mullins. "It's raw and honest, and it's the song that I felt tied the whole body of work together. The video is unlike anything we've ever done before. We shot inside of a one-of-a-kind 4D capture machine in Atlanta and it was a WILD experience. I am so stoked to give this song another push and for everyone to see the video!"

The band will also embark on a summer tour, kicking off at the end of the month and including a handful of festival dates. For the tour, Norma Jean, Secrets, and Saul will support. All dates are below. Get tickets here.

Loss Becomes Share "L.O.F." Video — WATCH // Touring This Summer

LOSS BECOMES — Brian Tsao, Guitar; Will Gomez, Bass; Anthony Copozzi, Vocals; Anthony Lopardo, guitars; Sean Ageman, drums — have dropped the video for the new single "L.O.F." The song was originally titled "Capazism."

Watch it
below

"'L.O.F.' Is an abbreviation for 'lube oil filter,' which means 'oil change,'" says Copozzi. "[It's] a term my father has been using to communicate on paper what kind of job needs to be done on a customer's car. He’s been writing this down on a yellow notepad as far back as I can remember over at Nor-Bel Service Center. The song itself is pretty much about a personal 'mental/social oil change.' Oddly enough, when I saw him write it down again, it felt like a good fit to title the song “L.O.F.”

The band will also hit the road this summer with Lybica and Godseyes. All dates are below.

LOSS BECOMES ON TOUR:

ABOUT LOSS BECOMES:
Perhaps you saw him defeating Bobby Flay on his eponymous show Beat Bobby Flay. Or maybe you caught a peek of him leading the kitchen at Beauty & Essex NYC or more recently hosting his very own Williamsburg, Brooklyn sandwich shop, Mission Sandwich Social. But Chef Brian Tsao is not your typical chef.  He wants to fill your ears as much as he wants to fill your belly. So with a heavy appetite for heavy music, Tsao picked up his guitar and was ready for a new adventure with some incredible musicians, including Will Gomez, a hospital radiologic technologist who earned his stripes as the former bassist of NYC bands Johnny Cage Is a Fake and Tiger Flowers. In search of a powerful voice, all roads led to Anthony Copozzi, who earned his vocal chops as lead singer of Long Island metal act Thracian.

LOSS BECOMES are a modern take on classic metalcore with hardcore tendencies. The music is unforgivingly aggressive and executed with intensity and vigor. Anthony’'s ferocious enthusiasm can be heard on every lyric, giving the band what can only be described as a full aural assault.

LOSS BECOMES recorded its first full-length at Long Island’s Westfall Recording Co. with producer Anthony Lopardo at the helm (Moon Tooth, Johnny Booth, Give Up The Goods). He has since joined the band as second guitarist.  The self-titled debut was released in late 2021, garnering widespread praise and attention among its peers and fans with hard hitting anthems such as "Moments', 'Healing' and 'Demons', and resulting in LOSS BECOMES sharing stages with the likes of Alien Weaponry, Moon Tooth, Nekrogoblikon, Resistor and Dr. Acula to name a few.

Another recent addition is drummer Sean Agemen, who mastered his chops in previous acts Give Up The Goods and Sargasm.  Sean's production company Washed Up Media handles video production and photoshoots for the band among other clients, and also helps produce and promote local shows, all adding to the impressive DIY ethic that LOSS BECOMES has become known for.  The formidable 5-piece are ready to take the next step, with plenty of new music planned for the coming months....be on the lookout!

Wormhole hit a new level on Season of Mist debut

WORMHOLE play by their own rules. When they're not schooling fools at Nintendo or throwing on the odd Saturday morning cartoon, the band are out scrambling brains with a homemade combo slam of brutal, technical death metal. Or, as they call it, tech slam. For the past eight years, they've been fine-tuning their signature moves both in and outside of Baltimore. Now, with 'Almost Human', they're ready to erupt from the underground.

"System Erase" is the first song on 'Almost Human' and it zips the whole tech-slam experience into one tightly clenched polygon fist. Brothers Sanil and Sanjay Kumar shoot off lazer beams of glitchy guitar dissonance. Drummer Matt Tillett, along with bassist Basil Chiasson, pilot through two or three different time shifts before the breakdown comes and swallows you up with the slow, crushing force of a black hole. At the center of this vortex are the bottomless grunts of Julian Kersey, who joined Wormhole around the same time that the band signed to Season of Mist last year. Every one of Wormhole's superpowers come together on "System Erase", surging into one great big ball of pissed-off energy, like Samus charging up her arm cannon. There's no ceiling they can't slam through.

Here's what Wormhole have to say about the single: ""System Erase" explores man's need for idol worship", says Wormhole. "In this story, man's admiration for power and beauty has led him to spend his existence worshiping an entity he saw, only for an instant, eons ago. What of the entity? Did it even notice him? Does it care for man as man cares for it?

'Almost Human' will be released on September 22, 2023 by Season of Mist. Pre-save the album
HERE.  Pre-order it HERE.

When you invent your own genre, you can make the rules, and in space, no one can correct your math. If Wormhole’s excellent The Weakest Among Us was 50% tech death and 50% slamming brutal death metal, their Season of Mist debut is a veritable leveling up of the Baltimore-based act’s trademark “tech slam.” It’s the kind of record that can scramble your brain and give your neck a nice chiropractic workout; Almost Human feels like the future of extreme metal, dropped down from either outer space or delivered by Nintendo cartridge (more on that later).

So, what the hell exactly is “tech slam?” Well, the gleefully amorphous and unholy term comes from an ethos that guitarists Sanil “Noni” Kumar and Sanjay Kumar discovered and perfected over (probably) thousands of hours of Metroid and Doom games, as well as, you know, actual musical mastery. Almost Human, out September 22, 2023, is more powerful, more agile, and more confounding for pie-chart-enthusiasts than anything else that came before it. The sequel is always bigger, darker, and in this case, covered in much more pixelated space horror viscera. My Wormholio calculator puts their sound at 91% tech and 89% slam, with an increase in awesome stats somewhere in the 420% range. There’s also a clear emphasis on amplifying their dissonant death influence, the kind of eerie melodies that feel like being stomped on by Samus.

There’s a clear balance to everything on Almost Human: the songs are more adventurous while also being instantly memorable. No two songs sound alike, and that diversity in songcraft (level design?) sees Wormhole pushing and pulling along their tech and slam dials to figure out what’s best for the song; spoiler, it’s always riffs. What also becomes evident after repeated listens is how carefully the Kumar brothers understand a sense of place, humor, and a consistent vibe. This is still the same band that’s known for throwing on Saturday morning cartoons, and Almost Human continues to hammer home that Wormhole the musical entity is deadly serious, but the guys that make tech slam are not stoic creatures. There’s a warmth and sense of joy when chatting with them that only gets brighter when you ask their favorite Metroid game (that’s a question for a live show). So, what is this vibe they are chasing? Sanjay shares:

“The tech slam imagery is based on Metroid lore, Doom lore, and we haven't written a song about it yet, but Alien as well. Those three things are brutal sci-fi universes, so we're trying to embody that sound. The slam riffs, you can connect the brutal killing of stuff with the brutal chunky riffs; that's been a match that's existed since the nineties. So that's the slam part, and then the tech part was harder to fit that vibe, so we kind of do it differently. I lean into very dissonance-vibe stuff, like Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia. I think disso-death and heavy, they aren't usually paired together, even though they should be.”

“And then as far as chasing the vibe,” Noni adds, “I kind of go about it two ways. With the Metroid soundtrack or universe, that vibe, there's some dark and gloomy atmosphere, but there's a lot of pretty imagery as well. We wanted to find a way to match that very pretty, kind of out-there sound cohesively in songs with a very aggressive and guttural approach.”

Like another famous sci-fi horror masterpiece of a different media, Wormhole’s shifting, amorphous style is perfectly suited to blend in and amaze just about any fan of heavy music. That’s The Thing: they can pull off whatever they want, but it’s always boiled down to that tech slam vibe. Do you like tech, melody, breakdowns, atmosphere, or dissonance? Tech slam can fill whatever void you seek.

If previous albums were early generation, lower-resolution visions of tech slam, Almost Human is the 4K reboot, where you can see every pixel of terror and awe. Wormhole are absolutely ready for their closeup. Prepare your worms and your holes, tech slam is here to stay.

CRADLE OF FILTH:

Positioned firmly at the top of the extreme metal genre, CRADLE OF FILTH reign supreme as one of the most revered, formative and notorious names in the scene, and are undeniably responsible for breaking ground for many of today’s top metal artists with their trademark mixture of grim blackened heaviness, macabre theatricality and scintillating gothic style.

On April 28, 2023, CRADLE OF FILTH dropped their first live album to be released in 20 years, entitled 'Trouble And Their Double Lives'. Recorded between 2014 and 2019 at different performances in the U.S., Europe, Australia and beyond during their “Cryptoriana World Tour” and dates following, 'Trouble And Their Double Lives' serves as a time-capsule of blisteringly intense live energy, and an astounding testament to CRADLE OF FILTH’s renowned latest era. The brand new live onslaught also featured two entirely brand new songs, entitled “She is a Fire” and “Demon Prince Regent”, and debuted at #9 on the US Current Hard Music Albums chart.

DEVILDRIVER:

Respected standard bearers for 21st century metal, iconic groove metal leaders DEVILDRIVER have spent the last two decades pursuing a course of uncompromising artistry and nonsense-free dedication to the road. Led by the prolific Dez Fafara, the Californian crew have earned their reputation as one of the hardest working bands on the planet, while issuing a steady succession of brutal but distinctive albums along the way. As the world was upended in 2020, DEVILDRIVER didn’t pause, releasing the acclaimed first installment of their two-part 'Dealing With Demons' saga, 'Dealing With Demons I'. On May 12, 2023, the band followed-up with the highly-anticipated 'Dealing With Demons Vol. II', which deftly debuted at #7 on the Current Hard Music Album chart.

In reference to their performance on the album, Metal Hammer UK claimed DEVILDRIVER reached "the peak of their powers", while Knotfest stated that the album "asserts their unwavering commitment to quality songwriting and creative catharsis". If there is any question as to whether DEVILDRIVER is slowing down any time soon, 'Dealing With Demons Vol. II' proves that 20 years into their career, even with their demons in tow – they move forward at the forefront of metal.

BLACKBRIAR - announce new album A Dark Euphony

Zora Cock comments:
“It's said that cicadas were once humans. When the Muses came into the world, they enchanted some people into singing, they loved singing so much, they forgot to eat and sleep and died. The Muses rewarded them by turning them into cicadas who sing continuously. In this song, I ask my muse to turn me into a cicada after I'm gone.”

About BLACKBRIAR:

“Some say that there is beauty in darkness - terrifying visitors, worlds far gone, gothic romances, bone-chilling legends, sin-eaters, burning hearts frozen in time, songs with a misleading voice, and a truthful whisper. This and so much more for you to discover on A Dark Euphony.” Such are the words of vocalist Zora Cock about the band’s upcoming sophomore album, set to release in fall 2023 on Nuclear Blast Records. A telling sign coming from a band who has reveled in gothic beauty and metallic darkness since their onset, spanning three EPs and a full-length album, along with long-time collaborator Joost van den Broek.

Formed in 2012 by Zora Cock, René Boxem, Bart Winters, and Frank Akkerman, they crafted their first single in 2014 with 'Ready to Kill,' but it was 2015’s second single 'Until Eternity' that truly propelled them into the scene.  A sweeping track with an equally compelling and beautiful video, it continues to draw many to the act with over 20 million views since its debut. Taking advantage of the growing buzz surrounding the band, they independently recorded and released their first EP, Fractured Fairytales, as well as acquired a second guitarist in Robin Koezen. This EP laid down an impressive foundation for the band’s ethereal and breathtaking sound and brought about new opportunities for the act, including tour dates in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and more, where the band played alongside EPICA, HALESTORM, IN THIS MOMENT, DELAIN and MaYan.

To keep moving ahead with full control of their creative ideals, the band successfully crowdfunded their follow-up EP, We’d Rather Burn, and brought it to life in October 2018. This EP would be the first time the band worked alongside esteemed producer Joost van den Broek to arrange and produce the effort, and this fruitful collaboration allowed BLACKBRIAR’s whimsical and enigmatic sound to reach new sonic heights.  Released the same day as their self-made video for 'I’d Rather Burn,' this EP showcased a stronger sense of dreamy atmosphere and brought listeners beautifully grim tales of witches, banshees, and sea sirens.  In the time following, keyboardist Ruben Wijga (ex-Re-Vamp) took a larger role within the band and began playing shows, after being involved in the songwriting process since Fractured Fairytales.

A busy 2019 followed the band released a haunting single in May entitled 'Snow White and Rose Red.'  A duet with Ulli Perhonen, their take on the Grimm’s fairytale featured striking cinematic visuals to accompany the spellbinding track. Continuing to dig deeper into fairytale realms, BLACKBRIAR closed the year with their third EP, Our Mortal Remains.  Ever-sharpening their intoxicating blend of storytelling and breathtaking musicianship, the EP brought about new live exposures for the act as well.  Small, sold-out tours with EPICA in 2019 and 2020, as well as a sold-out opening for DELAIN’s Apocalypse & Chill release show in Utrecht followed, with more future plans then being put on hold due to COVID-19.

Championing their continued independence, which included everything from songwriting, maintaining their web presence, overseeing merch, as well as shooting and producing their own videos and photos, BLACKBRIAR reached out to their ever-growing and loyal fanbase for assistance to make their full-length album a reality in 2020. Fans fervently heeded the call, reaching the € 25,000 goal in under 24 hours and ending with a total of € 70,000 and achieving all five stretch goals.  An impressive accomplishment for an independent act, which also showcases a strong internet presence with over 230,000 YouTube subscribers and 56.5 million channel views as well as 37.9 million Spotify streams and 275,000 monthly streamers on the platform.

Entering 2021, the band relinquished a bit of control in signing exclusively with Doomstar Bookings to help properly support their highly anticipated first full-length album, The Cause of Shipwreck, which was released in April.  Once again recorded with renowned producer Joost van den Broek (EPICA, AYREON, POWERWOLF) at Sandlane Recording Facilities, this release showcased the band’s continued evolution into masterfully dark gothic storytelling and theatrical aesthetics that entice you into a deadly yet spellbinding musical paradise. On the live front, launching into success with six sold-out Dutch club shows, they later extended into more European territories such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the Czech Republic as the band moved into 2022.

Despite a very successful 2021, the band still hungered for more, unleashing their latest single, 'Fairy of the Bog' in December.  A song about ‘het meisje van Yde’ (Yde girl), it’s a mixture of folklore, myth, and ancient local history wrapped into a more mystical and magical package that showcases what BLACKBRIAR does best. Due to winning ‘Drents Talent Award Culture 2021’ from ‘Stichting Kunst & Cultuur,’ BLACKBRIAR performed ‘I’d Rather Burn’ live on television together with the Dutch ‘Noordpool Orchestra in early 2022. In April, the band parted ways with founding member and bassist Frank Akkerman. Not a band to slow down, they welcomed Siebe Sol Sijpkens from The Netherlands as their new bassist.  A happy and energetic performer with a lifetime of global performances, he is a welcome addition to the act as they continue to strive forward.

With their vision looking firmly into the future, with a major label behind them, they set their sights on 2023 to conjure their most deadly siren song yet.  The band previously released the song 'Crimson Faces' to celebrate their partnership with Nuclear Blast Records, and now the world eagerly awaits the release of A Dark Euphony this fall. Set to contain 10 new original songs as well as a bonus track, they recently released their first single from it with 'My Soul’s Demise.' According to Zora, “We've had the pleasure of working with producer and musical genius Joost van den Broek, and we gave it our all to write this record and feel that this is our most complete, personal, and mature album to date.” With this in mind, the band launched a preorder campaign in April for the release, full of unique perks, which has been quite successful already. They have also been preparing on the road, with festival shows Wave Gotik Treffen, SummerBreeze, and Rock the Lakes in 2023, as well as being a special guest on CHARLOTTE WESSELS’s Club Tour.

With accolades behind them, such as being nominated three times for ‘Best Artist’ in EuroSonic/Noorderslag‘s Popgala Noord (2018, 2020, 2022), and continued fan support with current monthly streaming totals on YouTube and Spotify nearly 1.5 million streams, the world is primed and ready for a spectacular journey into darkness and beauty.

Kvelertak Share "Skoggangr" Video — WATCH

NEW ALBUM ENDLING OUT SEPTEMBER 8 VIA RISE RECORDS/PETROLEUM RECORDS

Your favorite punked-up, black metal-adjacent, classic rock-worshipping Norwegian group KVELERTAK are back! Their new album Endling arrives on September 8 via Rise Records/Petroleum Records. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared the lyric video for "Skoggnagr." Watch it
below

"'Skoggangr' was the first song we wrote for Endling. It's a song about Helmut Von Botnlaus, whose life history and written records have inspired many of the lyrics on the album," the band explains. "It all takes place in the heathlands and mountain area of the south-west coast of Norway, where  Helmut was born. This is where he spent most of his secluded life, living off what the earth can provide him with while fighting anyone trying to destroy the surrounding nature. Wind
turbine and real estate developers, look out!"

"From Lindtjørnsknuten I keep watch, looking towards Bjerkreim where the war is lost. String my bow, sacrifice a tick, stomping to the beat of an old slått."  —Helmut

Thematically, the album continues on the path of 2020's critically acclaimed Splid — which received press accolades from Stereogum, MetalSucks, Kerrang!, Revolver, Invisible Oranges, Blabbermouth, Guitar World, and more — by delving further into local lore and legend, though guitarist Vidar Landa summed it up best. "On Endling, we tell the stories of the extinct and dying men and women of Norway. Old and new myths, culture, and rituals come to life — the folklore that doesn't fit a TV series concept. Vikings and trolls are for television. This is the real deal."

"As the sun fell, at the time when oxen are unyoked, following the trail cut by the footsteps of Rasmus Vardal, the marauders of rock came riding again, screaming Kielland is dead, long live Kielland!," exclaims the band.

Nine Left Dead Release New Single "Blaming Us" via Dead Ned Productions

With 400,000+ streams worldwide Nine Left Dead returns with “Blaming Us”, the second single off their forthcoming EP Love After Death. A gripping tale about picking up the pieces of a broken heart and trying to move forward. This stripped down rock ballad was recorded in Nashville,TN at East Iris Studios (formerly the House of Blues Studio) with multi-platinum producer Malcolm Springer (Collective Soul, Matchbox 20).

"'Blaming Us' is a love ballad story about a broken relationship after pouring everything into each other and still feeling like you failed. It's a beautifully dark story and this version of the song is stripped down to piano and strings," says the band.

Nine Left Dead recently made the trip to Nashville, Tennessee to record their
new EP Love After Death with multi platinum producer Malcolm Springer at East Iris Studios (formerly House of Blues Studio).

The full EP Love After Death will be available July 21st.

Nine Left Dead is a rock band formed in the small town of Amber, Oklahoma
that began as a coping mechanism for lead singer Travis Jones through his
battle of leukemia. Writing music about the stories of life, love, loss, and all
the beautifully tragic and romantic pieces became his escape.

After pairing up with like minded musician and friend Steven Jones, the duo
put together a band that thrived in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas.
They went on to win a battle of the bands that would put them on a path to
work with multi platinum artist Cody Hanson of Hinder with whom they
recorded their first major album with over 400,000 plus streams , The Wrong
Things.

This led to them playing with bands such as Hinder, Pop Evil, Papa
Roach, Halestorm, Seether, Three Days Grace, Puddle of Mudd, Candlebox, Scotty Austin and more.

The group has since added guitarist, vocalist, and additional song writer
Brad Scott and then Tyler Medley joined the band to play bass.

“Throughout his career, Eric has constantly stretched boundaries with his music and challenged long-standing conventions in his recordings and his live performances,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “Our artist-in-residence series offers him the freedom to showcase his ever-evolving creative vision. We’re grateful to him for volunteering his time and fierce individualism to the series, which benefits the museum and its nonprofit mission.”

“As a student of the rich history of country music’s most prolific artists, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a shrine of reverence for this songwriter’s heart,” shared Church. “I’m honored and humbled to be included in such esteemed company.”

Cultivating a sound and approach uniquely his own, Church has held tight to his artistic identity throughout his more than two decades in Nashville, earning a devoted audience and amassing an impressive list of accolades, including 10 Billboard #1 country radio hits and multiple gold, platinum and multi-platinum-certified albums. With songwriting always at the center of his career, Church has written or co-written almost all of the songs he has recorded and released. He continues to fill sold-out venues with his raucous live show, and he challenges his own musical approach with every new level of success he achieves.

In addition to serving as 2023 artist-in-residence, Church will also be the subject of a new exhibition at the museum exploring the life and career of the CMA Entertainer of the Year winner.
Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul, presented by Gibson, opens July 13 and will chronicle Church’s unique path to stardom, from his early years playing late-night gigs in bars and writing songs in Nashville to his prominence as one of country music’s most authentic voices and revered rule-breakers. The exhibit is included with museum admission and will run until June 2024.

The artist-in-residence announcement comes ahead of the kickoff of Church’s
The Outsiders Revival Tour this Thursday, June 22. The first fully outdoor tour of his career will feature a rotating lineup of emerging artists across varying dates, Whiskey Myers, Cody Jinks, Jelly Roll, Ashley McBryde, Koe Wetzel, Lainey Wilson, Midland, Parker McCollum, Travis Tritt, Elle King and Paul Cauthen, plus Jackson Dean, Morgan Wade, Muscadine Bloodline, Shane Smith & The Saints, Hailey Whitters, Ray Wylie Hubbard and The Red Clay Strays.

About Eric Church
Eric Church’s most recent critically acclaimed and chart-topping project, his Heart & Soul triple album, is available everywhere now. Featuring the results of a marathon session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day while sequestered in rural North Carolina, the trio features his latest Gold-certified No. 1 “Hell of a View” and recent Top 5 hit “Heart On Fire” as well as his latest single, “Doing Life With Me,” climbing the charts at Country radio now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road, with his upcoming The Outsiders Revival Tour bringing a rotating lineup of emerging artists along for the first fully outdoor tour of his career. His prior outing, the 55-city The Gather Again Tour, offered fans an in-the-round show and earned the Billboard Music Award for Top Country Tour. Church also performed one-of-a-kind headlining stadium shows at Milwaukee’s American Family Field and Minneapolis’s U.S. Bank Stadium in 2022 and performed the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV in 2021. During 2019’s Double Down Tour, he played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner (including the 2020 award for Entertainer of the Year) and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fan base around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous project, the Gold-certified Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Prior releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”), as well as 30 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified songs.

CLOAK touring with Ghost Bath and Uada

CLOAK are burning hot and fast. The rising black metal band released their third album at the end of May, and it's already catching fire. Metal Sucks said 'Black Flame Eternal' stays melodic and catchy while hitting harder than the band's previous albums. New Noise gave the album four stars for bridging the gap between the spirituality of black metal and the abrasiveness of thrash, death metal and hard rock.

Other bands are taking notice, too. Uada are taking Cloak on a 30-plus date tour to support their upcoming album 'Crespuscule Natura', along with Ghost Bath.

The slashing, spine-tingling spectacle is all set to kick off on August 30, when these three horsemen of the apocalypse ride into Denver, CO for a show at the Roxy Theatre. They'll head for the doom and gloom of the Pacific Northwest, then cross into Canada, followed by stops along the Midwest and East Coast, including Cloak's hometown of Atlanta. The tour will wind down in the desert, with eight flaming shows across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California.

'Black Flame Eternal' is available on vinyl, CD and as a digital download through the Season of Mist store.

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” - Rudyard Kipling

In an era that is designed to beat down and weaken the individual, Black Flame Eternal is an album that represents strength, empowerment, and total opposition. With mounting pressure to engage in modern societal tribalism, Cloak invokes a spiritual rebellion that exists beyond good and evil with album number three.

“All of our albums are created with a spiritual focus, dealing with how we see life, death, and everything in between. I think the earlier records dealt more with the mysteries that surrounded delving deeper into the world of dark spirituality, whereas the new material has taken what we’ve learned and used it to move forward with force,” says Cloak frontman Scott Taysom of the record’s underlying philosophy. “Black Flame Eternal is a statement of spiritual empowerment in every sense. For the first time we want people to grasp on to this sentiment, instead of keeping it completely personal within our world of Cloak. The themes and the sheer power can be felt much more within the songs that this album contains."

“Our goal is complete spiritual liberation, which is where true power and freedom exists,” he adds. “We’ve reached a point in history where people are forced to pick a side or to join a team, so to speak. Cloak stands in complete opposition to this. We aim to be a giant middle finger in the face of the empty modern world.”

While Cloak might rage against societal conventions, the Atlanta quartet embraces the rebellious and time-tested traditions of heavy metal. Whether it be the conjuring the chaotic spirit of Swedish black metal purveyors Watain and Dissection, summoning the deep, dark and sensual groove of Danzig, or evoking the raw speed and raucous energy of Motörhead, the influence of metal’s founding fathers is deep within Cloak’s DNA. Cloak’s charm, however, does not merely lie within its romanticism of the past, but rather is the way each of these genres has shaped Cloak’s own personal identity. And with Black Flame Eternal, the record sees Cloak continue to strengthen its own unique established sound.

Cloak recognizes the importance of a band’s third record, with Taysom explaining, “These influences will always be important to us, as they are some of the best and most important bands of our time. On the other hand, what is so special about getting to the third record of our career is that inspiration starts to move inwards. We had enough experience and material at this point to really know what we do best and how we can utilize these skills in the best way possible. If you look at some of the most iconic bands, their third albums were massive steps towards greatness. So to us, we feel our third record will be a very important one in our time as a band.”

The Atlantan’s evolution is evident in the fury displayed on Black Flame Eternal, which flawlessly compliments the grandiose melodic atmosphere. “This was a conscious effort. Early on before the album even started, I knew it was going to be a much more aggressive and powerful album. I wanted to take a step away from certain sounds and add a bit of brutality back in. The overall vibe matches who we are much more, so it was only fitting to move towards this sound. It almost feels like we are going back to our roots as people in certain ways,” explains Taysom.

Black Flame Eternal follows up sophomore effort The Burning Dawn, which was released in November 2019, with hell unleashing its fury on the globe just a few short months later. As plans to tour the new album around the world came to a screeching halt, the band did not stagger or falter, and instead used this gift of time to write. When reflecting upon the lost years and its impact, Taysom seemingly embraces the situation with little regrets, “Considering Cloak is a sacred space for us, these exterior things did not have as much of an impact as one might think. But it was impossible to ignore some of what was going on throughout these tumultuous years. It’s bound to affect people’s personal lives and the way the mind works during these interesting times. One thing that it did greatly affect was the fact that we could not promote The Burning Dawn properly after the one U.S. tour we did with 1349. We feel this hurt the record, but there was nothing we could do. We were one of the earliest out of the gate after venues started to open back up, and we’ve been continuing to tour in promotion of that album all the way up until now.”

Cloak utilized every minute of this time to focus on fully realizing its vision for Black Flame Eternal. “The initial stage of the writing process started in January of 2020, and lasted all the way until May 2021. It was the longest spanning album process for us so far, with many long days, nights, and weeks trying to piece the songs together the best we could.” While the record did not come together swiftly or easily, the care and attention put into its creation is evident in its powerful composition.

Making up for lost time, these road warriors have already embarked on several high profile North American tours since the autumn of 2021, commanding audiences in every major city with their chaos magick. Each performance merges the spirit of black metal with the backbone of rock ‘n’ roll as the band consistently delivers a blistering set from start to finish. Taysom describes Cloak’s live approach as “a mixture of ethereal atmosphere and total abrasive chaos. The mixture of these two opposing energies is where Cloak lies; the meeting of high and low. To us, this is where the most interesting moments happen, both emotionally and physically.”

With no borders or boundaries, Cloak is ready to embark on this new chapter as the leader of its own pack. The band bows to no one, forging its own path as one of the governing metal forces of this decade as ‘Black Flame Eternal’ promises to scorch the earth and leave its hallowed mark.
