THE HALO EFFECT Presents Visualizer For "Path Of Fierce Resistance"

Purveyors of the legendary Gothenburg sound THE HALO EFFECT have presented us with a visualizer for the song ´Path Of Fierce Resistance´, which was previously released as a Japanese exclusive on the band’s globally acclaimed debut album Days Of The Lost, that was released in August 2022. 

Now, the ferocious track is finally being released to the rest of the world, before the band embarks on their first US headline run in May and gets back to the studio to work on their next full-length album.


Frontman Mikael Stanne comments:"Path Of Fierce Resistance" is a song we wrote for the Days of the Lost album but it only surfaced on the limited Japanese edition and it has been very close to us and having it here now for all to hear feels fantastic. The new album is in the works and we are incredibly excited about it, so consider this as something to keep you guys going until we unveil what is coming next. 

The song is another Jesper and Niclas classic that features everything that we love doing together in this band. Lyrically it deals with unrealistic expectations and about how important it is to follow one's own path and be adamant about it no matter what. We start our tour in the US on the 20th of May and we are beyond stoked to bring this band to America for the first time. Do not miss this!"

BRRR! There's a chill in the air and it's courtesy of ice cold death metal crew Frozen Soul!

US metal legends FIFTH ANGEL have released a new single from their upcoming new studio album, When Angels Kill, which will be out on June 16th via Nuclear Blast Records.

The song 'Resist The Tyrant' which is being carried by infectious guitar leads and a captivating chorus is a prime example of those powerful and hard-hitting heavy metal anthems that can only be written and performed by the absolute masters of the genre.

In this day and age, tyranny is not fiction, it never was. While not a political song and rather woven into the album concept of When Angels Kill, 'Resist The Tyrant' bears a powerful message that will resonate with those oppressed or fighting oppression today. Its rebellious spirit has been remarkably captured in a new FIFTH ANGEL music video also premiering today.

The video introduces the four main characters in the story of this epic concept album. The four main characters of the story are: the protagonist Phoenix, a young man, and his best friend in the resistance, Dylan, Phoenix's love interest Lana, also a member of the rebellion, and the global Tyrant Dionne Profontis.

ABOUT FIFTH ANGEL:
 
The Seattle music scene in the mid 1980’s was a breeding ground of exceptional talent. Heavy metal was a new wave of music that was sweeping the globe, and FIFTH ANGEL is one of the forefathers of the legendary Seattle metal scene that produced iconic metal bands such as Queensryche and Metal Church.
 
In 1984, school friends Ted Pilot (vocalist), Ed Archer (guitarist) and drummer Ken Mary (Alice Cooper, Flotsam and Jetsam, House of Lords) joined forces with lead guitarist James Byrd and bassist John Macko. Inspired by the success of Queensryche, who shunned playing clubs for the sake of writing, recording and releasing their own music independently, FIFTH ANGEL chose a similar path. They focused on honing their writing and recording skills, crafting the incredible debut album “FIFTH ANGEL,” which today stands as a metal classic that has influenced countless bands.
 
Co-produced with famed music producer Terry Date, (Pantera, Soundgarden, White Zombie), “Fifth Angel” was Date’s first ever production. The album, recorded at Steve Lawson studios in Seattle and first released in the United States on Shrapnel Records, was distributed in Europe through a fledgling label named RoadRunner Records based in the Netherlands. The album quickly became a cult classic in the European metal community, charting higher than many major label releases.
 
Epic Records caught wind of the band, and were so impressed with “Fifth Angel” they signed the band to a seven album, $21 million dollar deal. Re-mastering the recording and re-releasing the album with new artwork, Epic unveiled FIFTH ANGEL to a worldwide audience in 1988.
 
The band received rave reviews, and was touted in the press as the “next big thing” in all the major metal magazines of the day, including Hit Parader, Kerrang!, RIP, Metal Edge, Metal Forces and many others. Kerrang! went as far as attaching a flexidisc of the band’s music onto their cover, and giving the center fold out of the magazine to the band as well.
 
In late 1988, the band entered the studio once again, this time with producer Terry Brown (Rush). Epic Records released “Time Will Tell” by FIFTH ANGEL in August of 1989. “Time Will Tell” saw the departure of lead guitarist James Byrd, and the introduction of guitar prodigy Kendall Bechtel. The video for “Time Will Tell” was released from the album, and went into rotation on MTV. An additional single from the album, “Midnight Love,” became the theme song for shock jock Howard Stern’s #1 ranked US radio show for over four years.
 
However, the winds of change were beginning to stir over the music industry, and when grunge music hit the US music market hard in the early 90’s, (music that ironically was based out of Seattle as well), FIFTH ANGEL disbanded. But that’s not the end of the story…
 
FIFTH ANGEL was invited to headline the Keep It True festival in Germany in 2010. The reception was incredible, with the sold out crowd singing the lyrics to every song. This positive momentum planted the seeds for a new album.

Finally, several of the members began writing and recording together, and the collective enthusiasm was very strong over the music that was created. Nuclear Blast signed the band to a new recording contract based on a three-song demo that was submitted in 2017, and in the fall of 2018 FIFTH ANGEL released their first new album in nearly 30 years, “The Third Secret.”

The album featured the incredible talents of Kendall Bechtel, Ken Mary and John Macko. Original guitarist Ed Archer soon returned, and along with two new members, Steve Carlson on lead vocals and Ethan Brosh on lead guitar, the lineup was completed after an unexpected departure at the end of 2018 by Bechtel.
 
“The Third Secret” topped the charts on Deaf Forever (DE), Rock Hard (DE) and numerous other international magazines, and brought the group back on the charts. In 2019, the band returned to the festival stages, headlining the Metal Assault festival in Würzburg, Germany, and then appearing at the Rock Hard and Alcatraz festivals in the Summer of that year.
 
FIFTH ANGEL will appear this spring at the Keep It True festival once again with the current lineup, and will also perform at Alcatraz (BE) later in August 2023.

"Your Tears Mean Nothing" is the 1st single and video from Julien-K's upcoming DRK|MODEcollection. In stark contrast to the guitar heavy Harmonic Disruptor and the upcoming Trauma Echoes album, DRK|MODE was created using almost no guitars. The band wanted the challenge of retaining their signature dark & heavy sound and emotional feel while using only synthesizers.

Old Dominion, Kelsea Ballerini + Surprises as Kenny Chesney Winds Down I GO BACK 2023

As the only country artist in Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last 14 years, doing a tour of arenas in markets where he got his start shows how much Kenny Chesney is about taking his music to the people. But it’s also been a demi-bucket list return to the intimacy and passion that defined No Shoes Nation from the beginning. And as the tour winds down, Evansville, Indiana proved it’s not the size of the audience, but the heart.
 
After a solid 60 seconds of cheers following “I Go Back,” it was obvious NSN had come for the music – and they were going to leave everything they had on the floor of the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. Almost a decade since his last appearance at the basketball-centric venue, Chesney pulled out rarities, including “The Good Stuff” and “There Goes My Life,” which saw the fans deliver those songs back to the 8-time Entertainer of the Year like a prayer.
 
“You forget how much power those songs have – until you play them and feel the emotions they pull out of people,” Chesney says. “You can be so quiet you can feel your heart beat – and hear how palpable those feelings are that people have tucked up in your songs. It takes your breath away.”
 
Palpable, indeed. But that heightened emotionalism didn’t dampen the high spirits. Whether a second chorus of “American Kids,” after the song was over, the coming-of-age anthem “Young” or the full-tilt “Big Star” dedicated “to any girls out there who have a dream,” Chesney and his band were bringing it as hard as the audience was throwing it back.
 
And being so close to tour end, the pranks and surprises have already started. With a few nights off before their two-night stand at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, 6-time Academy of Country Music, 5-time Country Music Association Vocal Group of the Year and Chesney tour vets Old Dominion ambled onstage during the intro to “Save It For A Rainy Day” to surprise the clearly shocked headliner. Laughing at their still pulling pranks, it’s the first time that leader Matthew Ramsey was seen off his cane; he was enjoying the fun as the collected group also threw down a jubilant take on the Eagles “Take It Easy.”
 
“Nobody pulls one over on me,” Chesney laughed after. “My band and my crew can’t keep secrets, but they kept this one! And it was so good seeing those guys, having Matt and Brad (Tursi) who wrote ‘Save It’ up there with us. It shows what road family means, doesn’t it? They took a night off to prank us!”
 
Kelsea Ballerini, who’s spent the tour as Chesney’s special guest and performing their CMA and ACM Award-winning “half of my hometown” with him nightly, was also the recipient of some tour ending high jinks. Having given long time encore/play-off “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” a break for most of the I Go Back 2023 Tour, Chesney put it in for some playful vamping with the young woman who grew up in the same hometown Chesney did for a little bit of karaoke dreams come true.
 
Even more fun was the christening of Ballerini’s nickname, which appeared on a sign that was beamed to the packed arena. Half set-up for the next song, half good-natured teasing of a little sister, Chesney told the crowd how much Kelsea loves tequila – and then told the delighted crowd, “Her nickname is now ‘TeKelsea.’”; to which the young woman laughed and replied, “Well, I guess it’s gonna be a thing now.”
 
Highlights and good vibes permeated the evening. With 28 songs, including a few surprises, Chesney kept the crowd on their feet for over two hours. What just started is already winding down for the man who usually spends his summers in NFL stadiums across the country – the reason Variety called him “a stadium-sized superstar” – and every last moment feels like a memory to last a lifetime.
 
Presented by Blue Chair Bay® Rum, I Go Back heads to Charleston, South Carolina then Orange Beach, Alabama. That final show at the Wharf is now a double, with tickets for Friday going on-sale 5/22 at 10 a.m. local time.

America’s preeminent progressive rock band Kansas embarks this summer on a series of 50 landmark performances at some of the foremost theaters and performing arts centers across America and into Canada.  The “Another Fork In The Road” Tour celebrates 50 years of the band’s illustrious music history with concerts featuring two full hours of memorable hits, fan favorites and deep cuts rarely performed live.

KREATOR Release Video For The Song 'Conquer And Destroy'

Metal titans KREATOR have released a video for the song 'Conquer And Destroy' from their highly acclaimed latest album, Hate Über Alles. The live footage was filmed on March 4th, 2023 in front of 6000 of the band's mighty Hordes in their spiritual home of Essen. This very special show at Grugahalle not only featured a career-spanning KREATOR set list full of neckbreakers and beloved anthems, but also visually stunning high-end production solidifying the event as an unforgettable night for everyone in attendence. From opener 'Hate Über Alles' all the way through to the final encore of 'Pleasure To Kill', the performance was a maelstrom of mosh pits and raised fists.

Decades into their game-changing career, German metal legends Kreator find themselves more successful and influential than ever. They’ve stuck to their guns, weathered the trends and outlasted their peers – never once wavering from the ferocious noise that excited them as teens. If anything, that thirst for sonic warfare is just as strong, if not stronger, today. Where others have suffered from creative malnourishment and artistic uncertainty, something which even metal’s biggest and best are prone to, Kreator have always charged full steam ahead – thanks to the red-eyed conviction and fearless determination of founding singer and guitarist Miland ‘Mille’ Petrozza. On 1985 debut Endless Pain, the Essen innovators created the template for extreme noise to come, fusing elements of thrash and black metal in ways that had never been heard before. The last decade has been a particularly exciting time for the group, with 2012’s Phantom Antichrist proving how they could embrace modern production techniques and move with the times without forsaking the underground spirit and defiance which made them a household name in the first place. Its successor, 2017’s Gods Of Violence, saw them topping the German charts for the very first time in their career, a feat virtually unheard for a band of such thunderous intensity.

They returned this year with fifteenth opus Hate Über Alles – which marked their first studio album with Frédéric Leclercq (ex-Dragonforce, Sinsaenum) on bass, joining Mille, guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil – the metal titans are once again channelling an unholy heaviness strong enough to tilt the earth off-axis.

Written by the band for their friend Dimebag Darrell, the video features Dimebag alongside John Bonham, John Entwistle, Bon Scott, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, George Harrison, Jim Morrison, Elvis and the Green Man himself, Peter Steele. Fans of the band will also spot a cameo from collaborator and friend of the band, Tara VanFlower (LYCIA).

Corinne Larre f(Twisted Hooves Studio) who used A.I. created the animated music video shared the following:

"When Nuclear Blast asked me to make this video using artificial intelligence, I was eager to explore the thousand possibilities offered by this new technology. I ended up using a combination of two platforms: one that generated images and the other transforming said images into video.

"The lyrics left the field open to a lot of experimentation, leading to this universe both eerie and kitsch, which I hope pays homage to the band. The real challenge was the integration of legendary artists into this imagery. It's hard to explain to the A.I. the small details that make them unique as humans. In the end, hundreds, even thousands of iterations must have been made for this video!

"As an artist, I think it is necessary to remain humble when using artificial intelligence as the topic has quite rightly caused some ethical debate in the creative world. In my opinion, these creations should not be seen as artistic works in their own right, but as the first steps of a technology that will revolutionize audiovisual creation in the coming years."

Prey for Sunday is a modern hard rock band that stirs up thoughts of Chris Cornell, Shinedown, and 3 Days Grace, and many other well known artists in this genre. Prey for Sunday is a combination of highly melodic, and dynamic song writing. Hailing from Los Angeles, CA Prey For Sunday formed in 2018 by singer Tony Persico, and Ex-Takara Guitarist Neal Grusky.

Neal and Tony worked with Producer/Songwriter Peter Strzelecki to write and record the first Prey For Sunday album. Lusitanian Ghosts announce third studio album, preview their invigorating life-affirming lead track 'The Long Train'

Trans-Atlantic alternative neo-folk collective Lusitanian Ghosts present 'The Long Train', a life-affirming first taste of the band's forthcoming 'Lusitanian Ghosts III' album, due out in autumn via European Phonographic.

Engineered and mixed by Sebastian Muxfeldt (Elbow, Peter Doherty, Teenage Fanclub) at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg, the Ghosts once again offer a brilliant taste of the sonic prism through which they present ancient sounds in the 21st Century.

Lusitanian Ghosts is a Portuguese-Canadian-Swedish project that resurrects lost Portuguese chordophones and other European string instruments, promoting ancient sounds in the 21st century. Re-casting these heritage folk violas into rock n roll songs, the European artist collective writes from a socio-political perspective on building a better world, creating songs for the heart and mind, recording on analogue tape and releasing moving music on vinyl.

Founded by Neil Leyton and Micke Ghost, the collective is currently made up of João Sousa, Abel Beja (from Primitive Reason), ToZé Bexiga (from Raia) and Jan-Eric Olsson, performing on traditional Portuguese chordophone instruments, ancient regional guitars like the Amarantina, Beiroa, Campaniça, Braguesa, Toeira and Terceirense. These instruments, once on the verge of extinction, are the real "Lusitanian Ghosts" - Lusitania being an ancient Celtic tribe in what would become the central territory of Portugal.

“The Long Train is a song celebrating freedom, celebrating life, celebrating the act of setting yourself free so that you may reach that transcendental level of commitment that only comes with true love.” Confusing? “Oh, and it’s also about storks!” says Neil Leyton.

Micke Ghost adds, "'The Long Train' is a commentary on the state of the world today but with a bit of hope... like the New York Dolls took their electric guitars to the pawn shop. With a bit of plastic soul. .Written in Setubal, Portugal, this was recorded and mixed on analogue tape at Clouds Hill in Germany."

Recorded and mixed on analogue tape, this song features the violas Amarantina, Campaniça and Terceira in glorious mono and stereo versions, bringing a new vintage chordophone rock n roll sound from the Ghosts. It was tracked on a Studer A820 2″ analogue tape machine, mixed down to 1/4 inch tape on the AEG Magnetophon 15 A, including both stereo and mono mixes.

From a deep love of rock n roll rooted in strong vocal traditions from Elvis Presley to David Bowie, Neil Leyton and Micke Ghost craft folk-rock songs that will appeal to fans of The Waterboys, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and newer alt-folk-rock experimental crossings of rock n roll with other genres and traditions, like XIXA.

Lusitanian Ghosts' sophomore album 'Exotic Quixotic' was released with a Deluxe Edition featuring bonus tracks, adaptations of the title track into Portuguese and Polish, feat. Joana Negrão (A Cantadeira) and Misia Furtak.

NYC-based postpunk duo A Cloud of Ravens have kicked off a string of US tour dates with UK goth-rock legends The Sisters of Mercy in support of their recently-released 'Lost Hymns' album and on the trail of European tour dates with Swedish label-mates Then Comes Silence.

Mastered by ACTORS' Jason Corbett at Jacknife Sound studio, this collection of 11 tracks was released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music Europe.

Effectively merging classic and contemporary post-punk and darkwave sensibilities, their somewhat poetic use of prose and metaphor expressed the trials and joys of the world in which we now find ourselves. A Cloud of Ravens' previous remix-based EP featured contributions by legendary producer John Fryer and such prominent artists as Clan of Xymox, ACTORS, Chris Vrenna and Ritual Howls.

Earlier, the band presented their latest single 'Parable' with a video that is as foreboding as the lyrics, following dark delights 'Requiem For The Sun', 'Nature of Artifice' and 'The Blackest Mantra'.

Formed in 2018 by Matthew McIntosh (guitar and vocals) and Beth Narducci (bass guitar), the Brooklyn-based duo emerged on the burgeoning dark music scene with a series of self-released offerings that garnered attention that led to their 2021 album 'Another Kind of Midnight', a mournful yet triumphant collection exploring the heart of a world amidst a devastating pandemic and torn by moral tribalism.

Growing up in a family of avid music lovers and her mother being a professional opera single, McIntosh arrived at this genre of music after ample explorations in the punk, death rock and hardcore scenes, finally forging the duo's trademark sound with Narducci, whose background is more connected with alternative rock and industrial music, as well as professionally supporting fellow musicians in the A&R field.

The 'Lost Hymns' album is out now, available from fine digital outlets, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Bandcamp. Following these dates with The Sisters of Mercy, A Cloud of Ravens will share more North American dates with Clan of Xymox and Curse Mackey in late May and June.

Kenny Chesney's 2nd Helping! Adds Orange Beach Show on 5/26; On-Sale 5/22

With Kenny Chesney making it a little more up close and personal on his I Go Back 2023 Tour, the crowds have been loud, the shows freewheeling and the headliner has remembered who he was back when it was all falling into place for the 8-time Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year. With a platter of memories made and songs sung, the East Tennessee superstar decided that not one, but two nights would be needed to shut down his most intimate shows in almost a decade.
 
“It’s strange how much fun we’ve had this year,” Chesney says as the tour heads to Indiana this weekend. “It’s a completely different scale, but in a way, it intensifies the energy in a whole other way. We’ve got a roof over our heads, all that passion can’t escape – and it lets all the music really stick to you!
 
“We’re so used to ending on a double, it felt like the thing to do. And when I asked Louis Messina, our tour promoter, if there was a way to make this work at this late date, he said, there’s always a way... So, Orange Beach, Alabama: get ready for a two-night stand! We’re coming in hot – and we’re ready to play.”
 
Having just stepped up to headline the Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida on June 3 and the Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on June 10, the only country artist to make Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last 14 years isn’t quite ready to take it home for the summer. Having a little more freedom onstage to call audibles, move songs around, take requests and just jam, it truly has been a tour that harkens back to the moment when the East Tennessee songwriter was becoming a superstar.
 
“There is nothing like the energy when the scrim drops and you walk onstage at a stadium,” he offers. “But I have to tell you: there’s also nothing like the energy in these arenas when the crowd is pumping, they’re all one and they’re completely into the songs. For almost 3 decades, the US/French Canadian-based melodic death metal syndicate KATAKLYSM has delivered unapologetic waves of powerful sound across the entire globe. On August 11th, 2023 the band’s 15th full-length studio album Goliath will be unleashed unto the masses via Nuclear Blast Records.

"Bringer Of Vengeance" is the first single from the album. The song opens with drop-tune guitars and takes the listener on a journey mashing together modern Metal and Djent components that are layered over the traditional KATAKLYSM sound.

Goliath was recorded at JFD Studios in Dallas, TX and Studio City, CA as well as The Cabin in Orlando, FL by J-F Dagenais, who also produced and engineered the album. For the mixing and mastering, the band returned to Chris Clancy with assistance from Colin Richardson. The cover artwork required an image that captured the iconic battle of David versus Goliath theme that is echoed throughout the album while matching the power of the music. The band enlised renown Berlin metal illustrator Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE) to creat the artwork which who took the KATAKLYSM look and gave it a macabre filter that compliments the brooding sense of uneasiness that was felt during the writing and recording of the album.

Take Me Back To Eden (an hour-plus of music across 12 distinctive tracks) is Part 3 of a trilogy, a spectacular chapter-closer in the ongoing Sleep Token saga — a saga that kicked off in earnest with  debut album Sundowning (2019). 

...Eden features probably the heaviest moments thus far recorded by Sleep Token (i.e. "Vore" and "The Summoning"), along with some of the most immediate and certainly the most emotional (i.e. "Aqua Regia" and "DYWTYLM"), with a slew of other tones, textures, and tangents touched on in-between.

That they are still roaring and soaring should be no surprise. That’s just how they are built. TESLA may have been born in the mid-80s, but their bluesy, soulful sound is strongly embedded in the roots of organic, authentic, 1970s rock and roll. The ground started shaking in Sacramento, CA, in 1984; gold country that would soon be producing some platinum. In 1990, TESLAhelped reshape the face of modern rock music by stripping down to the Five Man Acoustical Jam, an informal collection of their biggest hits peppered with rock and roll classics by the Beatles, Stones, and others. This album produced their biggest hit single to date, a cover of Five Man Electrical Band’s “Signs.” Other 90s albums from TESLA include platinum selling Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut. The band continues to record and release material including 9 new albums since 2000 and recently debuted their new single, “Time To Rock!”

HOLDING ABSENCE have announced the release of their third album The Noble Art Of Self Destruction. Serving as the third and final entry in a trilogy that began with 2019's Holding Absence, The Noble Art Of Self Destruction will be released on August 25 via SharpTone Records.

Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery continues to reach new milestones as “Five More Minutes,” the first of five consecutive No. 1 singles, reaches RIAA Triple-Platinum Certification, while “Damn Strait,” the most recent of his back-to-back hits, reaches RIAA Platinum status.
 
“I’ve always said that ‘Five More Minutes’ is my favorite song I’ve ever written.
