WITHERED Announce Eastern U.S. Tour

WITHERED are launching their Southeast U.S. tour this week. The Der Argrund tour starts Thursday May 18 in New Orleans, LA and ends June 4, when the blackened death metal band hits Knoxville, TN. 

Along the way, WITHERED are headlining the Metal & Beer Fest on May 20 in Gulfport, MS, and tearing through Baltimore, MD, on May 26 for Hell in the Harbor festival. They'll also be joining forces with CLOAK, CANDLEMASS, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, GOATWHORE, FIRST FRAGMENT and GREY LOTUS.  

The 20-year vets will be playing songs off their last full-length 'Verloren', which you can download or order from Season of Mist.    

WITHERED will also be playing in front of their home crowd on June 24 when Underground Atlanta hosts Catacombs Festival.

From its inception, WITHERED have been an outlier. The band are a perplexing charge of extremity that the metal scene still hasn't put its finger on. 

"We're definitely a band for metal nerds", says guitarist Mike Thompson, who also handles the vocals. 

Originally formed in 2003 by Thompson and ex-guitarist/vocalist Chris Freeman, WITHERED set out to re-write black, doom and death metal mores. After 18 years and five albums, WITHERED have achieved that goal by refusing to call any one subgenre home. The band has toured with Mastodon, High on Fire, Mayhem, 1349 and Danzig. You never know what kind of mystery WITHERED are going to uncork live. Sometimes, it's a DIY kick in the gut. Other times, it's a stage soaked in bloody red and searing white lights.      

'Verloren' is WITHERED's most daring and iconoclastic offering yet. This album harkens back to the band's funeral doom roots, especially on eight-minute opener "By Tooth in Tongue". But it also features clean vocals for the first time ever.   The title, which translates to "Missing", isn't just a reference to friends, families and memories that disappear as time ticks by. It's also a reflection on the pandemic and how much the band has missed writing, recording and touring together.    

"For most people, metal is purely aesthetic, a grandstanding 'f-you' to society and an adolescent rebellion kind of thing," says Thompson. "But at the same time, we do get positive feedback from the people who have looked a bit deeper and done some research. We just want to be honest".

CAVO released their cover of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" to all major platforms via TLG/INgrooves.

"New Order have been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid so when we started talking about songs from the 80s to put our own spin on, I immediately started thinking about one of their songs. 'Bizarre Love Triangle' is obviously a classic song, but to me it’s always represented the writing and live peak of that band, so it felt like one that would be really fun to put the CAVO spin on.
I’ve always felt our band had a similar group effort vibe like New Order with the way each instrument shines in our songs. Whether it’s Brian’s upfront and unique bass lines, Chris’ creative and out of left field guitar parts, or Casey’s unique voice and crafty lyrics, they all come together to make something special and all it’s own. A group effort if you will. 4 people who come together musically and it creates this sound. That’s what I always loved about New Order growing up, and it’s always been something I love about our band as well," says Andy Herrin.

The creative force of Rock/Alternative from St. Louis is still creating and releasing new music. Humble beginnings to major label success to where they are now seems like a whirlwind but a lot of bands find themselves in these spaces. Bassist Brian Smith says “We are still a band releasing music we want to release and we hope people dig what we are doing”. Drummer Andy Herrin adds, “Every EP or record we do won’t be like one previously released and we have a lot of music to share and create." “The great thing about the four of us in Cavo is that we’ve always been fully committed to this band,” explains bassist Brian Smith. “Even if we haven’t been in a spotlight for a bit and we have other projects going on, our bond is as tight as ever, and we’ve never stopped releasing music. We love writing together, playing together and just being together as friends, and that’s why we’ve been able to keep going together as long as we have.”

Cavo has teamed up with independent distributor TLG/INgrooves to expose all of these new crafted songs to a broader global audience. The band has released several songs from the first of 6 planned EPs. Three original and three cover EPs. The first original EP is titled The Shakes with songs “Not Over You”, "Dizzy" and the self-titled track “The Shakes” currently released and “Synchronicity II” and “Drive” from the bands CAVO Cover vol.1 EP also released. Casey adds “We are almost finished with our second original EP and after that we start work on the second covers EP.” “It’s just a really cool creative thing we have here and we are really excited to share what we are doing with everyone,” adds Chris.

It's safe to say the CAVO boys are simply writing and recording new material and plan to release tons of new music in 2023 and for unforeseeable future!

"Empyrean" is a specialist’s paradise. As a rhythm/lead player, Carstairs enters a league of his own. Tracks like “The Bitter Taste of Clarity,” “Radiant Ascension,” and “Eden’s Lament” illustrate he’s upped his chops and boosted the emotional outlay. Throughout, he’s careful about compositional placement and how his radiant, palliative leads complement Fallujah’s sapid landscape. Drummer Baird tastefully and aggressively holds down the fort, grooving and syncopating admirably on “Radiant Ascension,” “Embrace Oblivion,” and “Mindless Omnipotent Master.” Fallujah’s long-standing timekeeper has always been great, but on "Empyrean," he’s superior. Right there with him is recently joined bassist Evan Brewer, thundering and bopping on, around, and against Baird’s foundation like a seasoned prizefighter. “Duality of Intent” is but one of Brewer’s standouts. Although known for his guitar work outside of Fallujah, newcomer vocalist Kyle Schaefer’s low-end and mid-range bark perfectly matches the existential threat-themed lyrics. 

Throughout "Empyrean," Fallujah surprise. Musically, lyrically, and with their bevy of guests, they add hard-to-describe depth and musical import. Vocalist Tori Letzler (Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice) reprises her angelic role on “Radiant Ascension” and “Artifacts,” while Chiasma’s Katie Thompson also reappears to elevate “Embrace Oblivion” and “Into the Eventide.” Chaney Crabb of Entheos and Cyborg Octopus’s David Wu tender their considerable talents on “Mindless Omnipotent Master” and “Duality of Intent,” respectively. Celebrated artist Peter Mohrbacher (Serenity in Murder, Rainbowdragoneyes) replays his role on "Empyrean" as well. Truly, this is an all-star cast appearing on a momentous album by a band reaching beyond.

“From the beginning of this writing process and until the end, we painstakingly made sure every aspect of this record would blow away our listeners,” states Carstairs. “We meticulously scrutinized every riff and note choice. The Intemperate Sons Release Official Music Video for Single "Game of Keep Away"

Indie rock band The Intemperate Sons released the official music video for the title track from their highly anticipated new album Game of Keep Away that will be released to all major platforms via FRAME|WORK in the fall of 2023. The band is in the early stages of planning a fall run of shows on the west coast.

The boys in The Intemperate Sons traveled to CA to record this track at MAPS Studio at the direction of Amir Derakh (Julien-K, Orgy, Dead by Sunrise) and Ryan Shuck (Julien-K, Adema, Orgy, Dead by Sunrise). This is the first time, and definitely not the last, having Amir and Ryan at the producer helm and was an amazing collaborative experience. Amir joined Jake and Max on guitar to contribute to the track as well.

The Intemperate Sons emerged onto the rock scene in the summer of 2019 in Dallas, TX, to bring their distinct sound to the genre. A deep love for music brought family members Keith Watson (drums), Jake Watson (guitars) and Max Watson (vocals, guitars, keys) together along with close friend Mark Marks, who provides the groove on bass to unite everything together.

Keith is well acquainted with entertaining massive crowds of concert goers and has played with many successful bands in Dallas, such as Gun Hill, Natural Born Thrillers and Agents of Solace, on top of opening for Lynch Mob, Joe Lynn Turnerand Sponge. He is the primary lyricist for the band and has written the music for some of their most successful songs, including “Dust to Dust,” “The Color Within,”and “Unrealized.”

Multi-talented and gifted with the ability to play various instruments, Max is also the lead vocalist of the group. Along with being musically dexterous, he has also collaborated with Keith to write lyrics on the released songs “Going Crazy” and “Way Back When.” In the studio, Max usually surmounts expectations and goes above and beyond to prepare prior to a session with his own vocal harmonies.

Jake is the song architect of the Sons and extremely instrumental in the crafting of the music. His inventive ways of bringing lyrics to life in clever ways are unprecedented and fascinating to see in the studio setting. He is a prolific writer of music as well and is credited with helping create the songs “What’s Done is Done,” “Remission,” “Way Back When” and “Wading in the Gray.” Both Max and he play lead guitar on many of the songs as well. The other members of the band fondly refer to him as the “art director” since he enjoys taking charge in those areas for the group.

Prolific and unifying, Mark is an accomplished bass player and well known in Dallas. He was in the regionally successful band, Haggard, and had opened for Sebastian Bach of Skid Row. His input in song writing has been invaluable to the process of creating captivating melodies.

Despite the pandemic putting a pause on many major events, The Intemperate Sons lived up to their name and let nothing hold them back from making music. Constantly hard at work in the studio, they have collaborated with Amir Derakh (Julien-K, Dead by Sunrise, Orgy, Rough Cutt) and Ryan Shuck (Julien-K, Adema, Dead by Sunrise, Orgy). Both have lent their musical talents to various songs and ultimately have brought the Sons on to their label, Frame|Work. This led the band to also recently join the management roster at The Label Group. Ryan worked with Amir to produce the band’s upcoming track, “Game of Keep Away,” and has had a huge impact on the group. He’s been especially influential on Max’s vocal melodies and delivery. Amir also plays guitar on this latest ballad and has been mixing all of the band’s music as well as performing on multiple songs.

Another notable collaboration has been with Tony Franklin (The Firm, Roy Harper, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Whitesnake), primarily on the first album, The Color Within. He has been a valuable friend of the band and has played bass on some of their best tracks from that album, including “Running Man,” “Dust to Dust” and “The Color Within.”

The Intemperate Sons’ take on alternative rock is a dark and powerful concoction of hard rock mixed with folk and grunge concepts. The band has earned a serious reputation for writing and performing tracks that scratch deep into the backbone of the human experience. There is no shortage of darkness in their writing style, which has a retro vibe with many guitar-driven tracks stacked on top of a groovy rhythm section. The heavier style fits perfectly with the two and three-part vocal harmonies that are a huge part of their overall sound. It has been said that musicians that are related form unique sounds and communicate at a frequency only they can understand. This frequency has become engrained in their songwriting, arrangements, guitar melodies and vocal harmonies. The band has been compared to Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and even R.E.M.

After a successful show at The Viper Room in Hollywood, CA, the band plans to do some regional shows in Texas and then head out West this year as well.

LYDIA CAN'T BREATHE Release New Single "Please Be Over" + Official Music Video

Lydia Can't Breathe's “Please Be Over” was recorded and produced by Andrew Wade and Andy Karpovck at The Audio Compound in Orlando,FL. They are the same producers that worked with Motionless in White, Attila, and A Day To Remember.

Lead singer, Kyle Bolduc recalls, “We wrote the song last minute in the studio. It was the last song we tracked during these sessions. I received a call, so we took a short break from tracking. My friend called me hysterically saying that his longtime girlfriend had broken up with him and that he wanted to kill himself. After about 30 minutes of talking him down, I returned to the session.”

Kyle said he had an idea for the last song. He presented a song basically about the breakup of a couple that has committed unforgivable actions and still love each other but cant stay together.

"We hashed it out and tracked a rough idea then laid down the final version the next day! The band thought this was one of the better songs of the batch and decided to do a music video for it. We teamed up with Marlin Sorrentino and Kal Visuals to create this epic visual for fans. We actually blow up a car during one scenes in the video. The fire from the blaze was as tall as a 2 story house! It's the craziest thing that the Lydia Can't Breathe team has achieved in a video shoot... so far."

Recently signed to a co-publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville and Droptine Music, Cody Hibbard’s blue collar raising and ability to relate to the everyman seeps through each new release. Melodic indie / alternative rock duo Para Lia presents their single 'Sunchild', the first new music since announcing the duo has signed to Berlin-based About Us Records for their third album 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' (out on August 25). This driving, guitar-laden indie rock lead track is accompanied by a fun-filled nostalgic self-directed video.

Para Lia is René Methner (all instruments and vocals) and Cindy Methner (backing vocals), who were raised in the eastern part of a divided Germany. Their band name was born of their love for Greece, with para lia (παραλία) meaning “coast” or “beach" in Greek - a name full of mystery but optimism, which both has history and evokes a balance of the masculine and feminine.

"Greece, for us, is a place of well-being, joie de vivre, the home of friends, almost 'second home' to use and a place to 'take a deep breath'. With emotions that are consistently positive, these images therefore perfectly translate the mood of this song, combined with footage from the Thommy Hein Studio in Berlin, where the whole album got its finishing touches in a beautiful atmosphere. Good vibes through and through," says René Methner.

Not only do does Para Lia's psychedelic side find its way into the lyrics, but also the video. Methner adds, “The whole thing is framed visually with psychedelic echoes and a vintage touch, which are both reminiscent of indie rock videos of the early 1990s and also late-1960s Super8 aesthetics. This track is a love letter to life. In fact, most of the songs here are characterized by optimism and hope."

Now based in Cottbus (near Berlin), Para Lia's music is influenced by the rhythms and tones of ‘90s alt-rock and the synth density of ‘80s darkwave. Their own sound blends melodic guitars, along with distinctive lead guitar and resonant synths.

"This is a psychelovic indie rock song for survivors!" says Cindy Methner. "This is an ode to not letting it get you down and was created in darker days. It's an optimistic song to blink into the sun, where the joy of life is at home behind the black holes"

Ignoring the zeitgeist of this day and age, Para Lia creates music that is far from mainstream. Despite this, or maybe because of it, the band has gathered listeners from around the world. Debuting with the 'Soap Bubble Dreams' album in 2019, followed by 'Gone With The Flow', which involved artists from the USA, Canada and the UK, as well as a collaborative interactive art exhibition with painter Louis Renzoni.

Now Para Lia is ready to enter the next chapter with the new album 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist'. Self-recorded and produced at their home studio, these tracks were then mastered by Thommy Hein (Die Ärzte, Nina Hagen, Udo Lindenberg) at Tonstudios Berlin. This album sees them blend their love for late 80’s and early 90’s indie rock with 60’s influences, psychedelic, garage rock and early prog rock elements.

'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' features appearances by US keyboardist Fady Haddad, who featured on Para Lia's previous record, as well as- Christian Georgion electric piano and Andreas Jäpel on baritone vocals  (both of these artists are from the Staatstheater Cottbus). The artwork was designed by Greek artist Georgia Moschogianni.

'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' sees Para Lia grow on yet another level with the band expanding from two members to six with an eye towards upcoming live performances.

'Sunchild' is out now and is available digitally across fine music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The full album 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' will be released, both digitally and on vinyl, on August 25.

Toronto-London based experimental group The Flowers Of Hell have released their sixth studio album 'Keshakhtaran' via UK cult label Space Age Recordings (home to Spacemen 3, as well as releases by Spectrum, Chapterhouse, Acid Mothers Temple and The Telescopes), previewed by ‘Foray Through Keshakhtaran’.

This tripped-out instrumental journey in two 20-minute parts involves 20 artists, including Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, Beck) on sitar, Montreal harpist Sarah Pagé, and avant-accordion legend Angel Corpus Christi (Suicide, Spiritualized, Dean Wareham). Produced by the band’s leader and composer Greg Jarvis, this album was mastered by Grammy recipient Peter J. Moore (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Joe Strummer).  

'Keshakhtaran' - an urban dictionary term for "seeking nirvana through meditation to sound, especially when you're stoned" - is suitably named. This 42-minute instrumental psilocybin meditation piece is rooted in sax, flugel horn, chimes, harp, sitar and opera soprano vocals, augmented with tremolos, flutters, horns, woodwinds, strings and percussion.

For 18 years, The Flowers Of Hell have traversed the experimental edges of indie, classical and jazz, with music often rooted in the audio-visual synesthesia of the group’s mastermind, Greg Jarvis. Despite relative obscurity, they have been championed by music legends such as Lou Reed, Sonic Boom, Kevin Shields and members of The Legendary Pink Dots, Death In Vegas, The Wedding Present, The Fugs and The Plastic People Of The Universe, not to mention support from NASA’s mission control team and the Tate Gallery with an album installation and concert just a fortnight before London locked down.

“Keshakhtaran began as a 40 minute ‘space guitar’ piece I’d done out of bits and bobs I’d been playing in my home studio for a girlfriend to meditate to in the months before Covid. During the pandemic, I found I couldn’t write anything new (nothing in, nothing out), but I pulled out the guitar track and started sending it to caged up band members and friends to add layers to, and soon I was mixing and editing away, creating a sonic world to escape off into,” says Greg Jarvis.

“With massages being some of the only human contact allowed in Toronto at the time and with one of my bandmates being a masseuse, I’d go in and test the mixes while over-micro dosing on mushrooms for a truly immersive experience that transported me from the bleak times. I’d then play the work-in-progress for bandmates in my ‘semi outdoor contact’ garage that I’d converted into a psychedelic shack with a lightshow and a fog machine, tweaking things until it reached its final form that you’ll hear”.

Having learned directly from the likes of Malcolm McLaren, David Bowie, Jason Pierce (Spiritualized), The Moody Blues, Liz Mitchell (Boney M) and Ivan Kral (Patti Smith Group) while working in the music business, Greg Jarvis formed the Flowers Of Hell in 2005 – a time when London only had two bi-monthly club nights (Sonic Cathedral and AC30) where The Flowers could play their kind of ‘Velvets meets Spacemen 3 meets classical’ music. Since returning to his homeown of Toronto, subsequent albums and tours have involved musicians from both continents.

As of May 12th, 'Foray Through Keshakhtaran' is available digitally via Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The vinyl LP (with bonus CD insert featuring a reworking of this piece by Sonic Boom a.k.a. Pete Kember) will follow in late 2023.

The Flowers Of Hell also just launched online orders for the first vinyl pressing of their 2012 cult classic ‘Odes’ album (released on Record Store Day UK). A collection of select orchestral pop arrangements, this album is now part of popular music history, with Lou Reed having premiered three tracks from this release on his final radio show.

On June 7, The Flowers Of Hell presents a psychedelic feast for the senses at London's 100 Club, also featuring performances by London psych-rockers The Confederate Dead (Little Cloud Records), Pete Bassman of Spacemen 3 with memoir stories and songs, a rare appearance from Philip Parfitt of cult legends The Perfect Disaster and interim music selections from Tim Holmes (Death In Vegas).

Last month, metal legends CAVALERA announced they re-recorded SEPULTURA's first EP Bestial Devastation and first full-length album Morbid Visions.

Today, CAVALERA reveal the albums will be released on July 14th via Nuclear Blast Records. They also offer fans the first single "Morbid Visions".

Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation were re-recorded at The Platinum Underground. The albums were produced by Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the engineering. Arthur Rizk was responsible for the mixing and mastering of both albums. CAVALERA enlisted Eliran Kantor to create the artwork for both albums.
Max Cavalera comments, “As we get harder year after year, sometimes you’ve got to go back to where it all started! We re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with the amazing sound of NOW,  but with its raw and timeless spirit. The artwork reflects the times we’re living in right now…. CAVALERA is hitting the road this fall on their "Morbid Devastation Tour". The 40-date trek will kick off in Albuquerque and will make its way to Chicago, Houston and Baltimore,  and Denver before concluding on October 18th at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Accompanying the brothers on stage will be Igor Amadeus Cavalera (HEALING MAGIC, GO AHEAD AND DIE) fulfilling bass duties and Travis Stone (PIG DESTROYER, DESOLUS) will be supplying lead guitars. As much as you can rely on the Earth’s elliptical orbit, you can depend on Voyager to consistently evolve. The band’s interplanetary balance of virtuosic pyrotechnics and sky scraping radio-ready hooks morphs at the speed of sound from one era to the next. In bursts of bright light, luminous keys, neon guitar wizardry, and stratosphere-shaking rhythms, they elevate hard rock to another realm. The group blast off on a signature hybrid of prog, rock, and metal possibly best described as the musical equivalent of Guardians of the Galaxy.

After piling up millions of streams, earning acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, and wowing the globe on the Eurovision Song Contest, the Perth, Australia quintet—Danny Estrin [vocals], Simone Dow [guitar], Scott Kay [guitar], Alex Canion [bass], and Ashley Doodkorte [drums]—take flight like never before on their forthcoming eighth full-length LP, Fearless In Love [Season of Mist].

“It’s progressive in the sense we’re always trying to reinvent and refresh ourselves as musicians,” notes Danny. “I want to develop musically from where we left off. We made sure Fearless In Love was melodic with some sugary hooks, but we also stayed true to our sound and delivered a few more guitar solos. It could appeal to fans of complex music as well as anybody who might want a straight-up banger. It’s a melting pot of the genres that define us distilled into the unique Voyager sound.”

This cohort of dynamic talents and personalities initially crash-landed stateside for a now-renowned performance at the 2011 ProgPower USA Festival in Atlanta, GA. Since then, they’ve unleashed a string of fan favourite albums—V [2014], Ghost Mile [2017], and Colours in the Sun [2019]—in addition to sharing stages with the likes Deftones, Leprous, Devin Townsend, Opeth, and Poppy to name a few. Australia notably handpicked Voyager as its entrant into the global Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with “Promise.” The Guardian hailed the buzzing single as “a pop number that bends the genre with trademark riffs, climactic guitars and keytar solos,” and it crashed the Top 3 of the Australian Independent Label Singles Chart. They even appeared on TODAY Australia to wave the metal flag by teaching daytime TV hosts black metal growls, as plugged by Metal Injection!

Throughout 2022, they crafted what would become Fearless In Love with engineer, mixer, and coproducer Matt Templeman. This time around, the musicians recorded live, unlocking a new energy altogether.

“Normally, we write and record our parts individually, but the whole band decided to go old

school and do everything together this time,” he goes on. “This line-up has been together for twelve years, and we gel so well. It’s cool because we can play off each other like a live show with funky bass, groovy guitars, and creative drum patterns. It translates to the album.” On the single “Prince of Fire,” glimmering keys give way to a hard-hitting guitar riff as Danny’s slick vocals seesaw atop a punchy bass line.

“It’s actually one of the heaviest songs we’ve done, yet it’s got this super eighties mentality,” the front man reveals. “Lyrically, it’s about being perceived as the bad guy, even though you’re trying to do your best. You have good intentions, but sometimes you end up being the ‘Prince of Fire on night patrol’. Musically, it sways side-to-side, and then you’re crushed—which is a common theme for us.”

Then, there’s “The Lamenting.” Seventies-style sonics dissolve in a haze of riffs offset by swooning vocals and synths. Distortion drowns out the light in its final moments.

“You’re lamenting past loves and trying to let go and not wallow in those memories,” Danny

elaborates. “There’s a bitter end that almost leaves you in the dark without pulling you out. It’s one of the most melancholic and sad songs on the album.”

Meanwhile, “Ultraviolet” layers a hypnotic refrain above chugging guitar as growls pierce the groove before a hummable solo.

“It’s about coping with the speed of modern society,” he states. “I like a fast-paced world, but it can be too much. You almost want to bury your head under your pillow and scream, ‘Slow down’. The expectations we have on each other as humans are just nuts. Sometimes, you need to become ultraviolet, duck under, and go, ‘No more for me, thanks’.”

The finale “Gren (Fearless In Love)” concludes the album with a climactic crescendo pushed even higher by resounding melodies and nimble instrumentation.

“When you’re in love, you have boundless energy and feelings for a person, which makes you almost invincible,” he elaborates. “There’s a huge vulnerability, because you’re not invincible at all. You’re totally susceptible to extreme hurt and letdown. There’s something beautiful about letting yourself go and fully experiencing being fearless though.”

In the end, a similar creative boundlessness drives Voyager.

“When you listen to Fearless In Love, I’d love for you to say, ‘I’ve never heard anything like this before’,” he leaves off. “Secondly, I hope you’re uplifted, intrigued, and emotional. We try take you on a journey through struggle, positivity, negativity, and a society that doesn’t always make sense. Maybe, listening to the record will make you feel better about dealing with this crazy modern world we’re living in.”

Yorkshire melodic metallers Caskets have announced their new album, Reflections, out August 11 on SharpTone Records. To mark the announcement, the Leeds quintet has released a new single, "More Than Misery," featuring a guest appearance from The Word Alive's Telle Smith.

Speaking of the track, frontman Matt Flood says, "'More Than Misery' is written around the conflict of being hypnotically entranced by someone or something that in the end, you know will only lead to toxic habits or bad intentions. Everyone has felt this and been in this situation in one way or another throughout their life. It's about not wanting to be in this situation and feeling the struggle of bearing the weight of pressure it puts on your shoulders — how it can affect every other thing around you, from your mental health to the relationships you build around you."

"There is light at the end of the tunnel though," he states. "To even acknowledge the situation and build a foundation of support around you to come face to face with what it is that's holding you back. If you just take a step into the unknown, you'll see your life is more than just misery."

There's an art to looking back. For Caskets, it could have been easy to plough forwards regardless, riding the wave of success from their breakthrough debut Lost Souls (over 80 million streams to date), that opened tours up across the United States and mainland Europe, and secured appearances at landmark festivals Download and Slam Dunk. But having swapped the bedrooms that fostered album number one for countless hours on the road, reflecting on that journey and the decisions that led them down certain paths quickly became unavoidable.

If Lost Souls was primarily driven by vocalist Matt Flood's personal experiences, Reflections delivers a wider picture of Caskets as a whole, borne out of the usual interpersonal differences that all bands face at least once in their career. For some it marks the end, but for others, it fosters a collaborative environment that pushes the music well beyond what has come before.

The result reflects each individual member of Caskets, with Matt joined by guitarists Benji Wilson and Craig Robinson, bassist Chris McIntosh, and drummer James Lazenby. The record's more upbeat moments carry impactful melodies, upping the ante from Lost Souls with considered force, while the powerful ambient moments play out with real finesse.

In a step away from the singular retellings of Lost Souls, Dan Weller (Bury Tomorrow, Enter Shikari, Holding Absence) produced Reflections is a series of individual lessons, looking back at a specific moment in one of the band member's lives; a thought, feeling or events, and how that moment shaped the present.

"Reflections shows how much more we can get out of the band musically if we all put our heads together a bit more," Matt beams, positive about a record that not only showcases Caskets as a full entity but represents the impressive range of influences that have soundtracked the five piece's times on the road and in the studio, helping to rapidly expand their sound. "It's always about the music, that’s the whole point of being in a band," he concludes. "If we can fit as much into our sound but it still sounds like us, that's my lifelong goal with Caskets."

AlienBlaze Releases New Single "Lovesick" featuring OmenXIII via Sumerian Records

AlienBlaze has unveiled her new single “Lovesick” featuring fellow Sumerian Records artist OmenXIII, seeing AlienBlaze enter a new hybrid world of rock meets rap. “Lovesick” is produced by Kid Brunswick and mixed by Dan Lancaster (Muse, Bring Me The Horizon). Listen to the track at the link here.

AlienBlaze is a 20-year-old mad-as-hell singer/songwriter and lead guitarist crafting genre-fluid anthems resulting in a fascinating hybrid of everything from dark alternative pop, grunge and emo, to rock and electronic elements. Her dominating presence emits an angsty appeal, encouraging a sense of self-empowerment to her young audience.

In her school years, AlienBlaze spent most of her time at home through sickness, so spent hours and hours learning the electric guitar on her mum’s old guitar, wanting to play like her guitar inspirations Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains and Slash. Blaze’s sense of alienation from her peers is what inspired her to add the ‘alien’ part to her name as an artist.

Her latest single “Lovesick” features fellow Sumerian Records artist OmenXIII, seeing AlienBlaze enter a new hybrid world of rock meets rap. The artist shares, “I always wanted Lovesick to be a tortured love song, but it actually works even better as a duet. I just love what OmenXIII has done with his verse and I think our two styles actually give the song an extra intensity.”

Produced by Kid Brunswick and mixed by Dan Lancaster (Muse, Bring Me The Horizon), “Lovesick” takes inspiration from a multitude of artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, Linkin Park and The Cure, as well as EDM/ rap elements from Lil Peep and the lyrical style of Billie Eilish. Featuring raucous guitars, colliding percussion and a throbbing bass line, OmenXIII’s verse adds an interesting twist to the track, allowing things to cool off before AlienBlaze re-enters with her bold and brazen energy.

Covering topics such as the everyday experiences of a young adult, to more poetic themes including pathetic fallacy and imagery from nature, AlienBlaze delivers her message in a way that allows listeners from all walks of life to interpret it.

Since only uploading her first song to Spotify in 2019, she has received attention from numerous Spotify editorial playlists, garnering hundreds of thousands of plays. She has also had praise from the likes of Oli Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon), Rou Reynolds (Enter Shikari), Grimes, and Ellie Roswell (Wolf Alice), as well as from publications including Wonderland Magazine, NOTION and Kerrang!. Heart Of A Coward Share Video For "Decay" — WATCH

British heavyweights Heart Of A Coward have just released the video for the new track "Decay" that shows a more emotional and calmer side from vocalist Kaan Tasan.

"'Decay' is written about the certainty of time. Every second that passes we move closer to death. Everything we love will die, everything we know will end. So make the most of the time you have," says Tasan.

The band is known for its heavy and aggressive sound, which combines elements of metalcore, deathcore, and djent. They are also known for incorporating melodic elements into their music, creating a balance between heaviness and melody.

Heart Of A Coward released their debut album, Hope and Hindrance, in 2012, which received critical acclaim and helped establish the band's sound and style. They have since released several other albums, including Severance (2013), Deliverance (2015), and The Disconnect (2019).

Throughout their career, Heart Of A Coward have toured extensively, performing at various festivals and sharing stages with other popular metal bands. Their music has gained a significant following, particularly in the UK metal scene, and they continue to be a prominent force in the genre.

Yesterday, May 10, the Grand Ole Opry and Opry NextStage hosted a sold-out crowd for "Opry NextStage Live" at Lava Cantina in The Colony, Texas. The show served as an official introduction of the Opry NextStage Class with performances by 2023 members Ashley Cooke, Jackson Dean, ERNEST, Chapel Hart, Corey Kent, Kameron Marlowe, Megan Moroney and Ian Munsick. Genre-bending singer/songwriter and three-time CMT Music Awards-winner, Jelly Roll, served as the concert’s MC. 
 
The festivities preceded tonight’s 58th Academy of Country Music Awards taking place in neighboring Frisco, Texas and a portion of proceeds from the concert benefitted ACM Lifting Lives. Fan’s unable to attend can WATCH performances on the Opry's YouTube Channel HERE.
 
Since 2019, the NextStage program has showcased artists including Riley Green, Parker McCollum, Tenille Townes and Lainey Wilson, who all went on to earn ACM New Male and Female Artist of the Year trophies the year following their NextStage inclusion. This year, Wilson received the most nods for a female artist with six nominations including Female Artist of the Year. Other NextStage alumni include Priscilla Block, BRELAND, Callista Clark, Travis Denning, Tegan Marie, Niko Moon, Restless Road, Jameson Rodgers, Elvie Shane, Nate Smith, Morgan Wade, Hailey Whitters and Yola.

DEATHSTARS - Drop video for title track of new album ´Everything Destroys You´

Swedish Deathglam kings DEATHSTARS released their fifth studio album Everything Destroys You last week, which was eagerly awaited from their loyal fans.
Today, the band presents the video for the album’s title track ´Everything Destroys You´, which is directed by Damon Zurawski, who also did the video for ´Midnight Party´.
The video was filmed in the cold, hard surroundings of an old, abandoned slaughterhouse in Stockholm.
Whiplasher tells about the video: ”Everything Destroys You” is a video that literally destroys the band. We have killed the band in quite a few of our videos, and for those who want to see us dead once again this is another excellent opportunity to see that happen. On one hand you could see Nightmare busy behind swaying chains in the cellar, while Skinny is working on a double bass at the same time as I got electric shocks from a depraved nurse."

To herald the album's announcement, the band has shared the video for first single "A MILLION MILES."

"The distance between us is no longer measured in inches, feet, or miles," says Blake about the song. "It's the void in time between looking up from our screens and locked in a dream. A minimal space we keep for reality. Just a moment to see the difference of where we are, and where we want to be.  We can sit across from someone within reach, and be a million miles away transported through our screens." 
 
 The album encompasses a similar theme. Blake shares, "As a whole, we're losing focus. I feel like the only one to look up and notice. Am I losing my mind or losing touch with the times? It's a game we can’t win when the rules always change. Marching toward the end of days. This is it… the end of everything."
 The Iowa quartet continues to bring audiences together with a one-two punch of pummeling metallic grooves and towering melodies. Amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Revolver, Guitar World, Loudwire, and many more, the group fortify an unbreakable bond with listeners on their second full-length offering, THIS IS IT…THE END OF EVERYTHING [Spinefarm]. For this record, the band collaborated with producer Kile Odell [Motionless In White, Nita Strauss]
 
"As a society, we're so glued to our phones and social media," notes Blake. "When we finally got out of quarantine, we personally needed to take a mental break from it. If you think about it, we don't even have to talk anymore, since communication happens online. So, step back from social media, get out there, shake hands, and live a little bit. You don't have to exist through your phone. Capture the moment in your head and tell the story out loud to someone."

Saul emerged out of the Midwest in 2017 and tirelessly bulldozed a path to the forefront of modern rock. They notably performed alongside everyone from Motionless In White, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Crown The Empire, Bush, and 10 Years to HELLYEAH and Nonpoint in addition to gracing the stages of festivals, including Rebel Rock, Rock Fest, Rock USA, Inkcarceration, and Blue Ridge Rock Fest with Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and Slipknot. The group independently landed a bona fide hit in the form of "Brother"— an homage to the co-founders' late brother Caleb. It marked their first #1 on Sirius/XM Octane in addition to gathering over 9 million Spotify streams and paving the way for their 2020 full-length debut, Rise As Equals.
