The Void is a song that came about very quickly. I didn’t have to fight with anything to write it, and when that happens, I don’t argue with it. It’s a type of song that I’ve been wanting to write for a long time, I’ve heard it hundreds of times now, and it makes me so happy every time I hear it. It’s been such an amazing experience playing this song on our tour, and watching people hear it for the first time, in real time.

MISCREANCE Shares Mind-Bending Song, "No Empathy"

Old school technical death metal revivalists MISCREANCE will be reissuing their debut album, 'Convergence,' via Season of Mist on May 19, 2023! The album was originally self-released by the Italian newcomers in in September 2022. The band is now offering another taste of their debut record; listen to "No Empathy" below.

MISCREANCE comments: "The song's about losing any kind of emotion ever felt, and while trying to change this chosen path, to start feeling something again, that sensation of emptiness grows more and more, letting you feel no joy, no sorrow and... No Empathy."

Though many have tried, few bands have successfully replicated the mind-bending technical death metal formula that was established during the genre’s advent by the Godfathers of DEATH. That is until Italy’s Miscreance entered the ring in 2022 with its debut full-length, ‘Convergence.’ Unlike tech death contemporaries who are known for speed and extremity, Miscreance artistry lies within its carefully executed precision, underscoring the focused discipline behind the music’s eloquent complexities.

Miscreance is a project reborn from the ashes of Atomic Massacre. As the former band's members decided to change the course of their stylistic direction, they felt it was time for a rebirth, changing the name as well. In 2018, the band released its first demo, 'From Awareness to Creation,' which was originally co-produced by Red Wine Rites records in Switzerland and limited strictly to 100 copies.
 
Shortly after the demo release, the band ceased their search for a singer upon realizing that drummer Andrea F. was exactly what they were looking for, so they exhumed three songs from the pre-demo era and recorded a split with death metal grind-crushers Vile Apparition (AUS), released in late 2021.
 
In 2022, Miscreance made its debut with its first full-length, ‘Convergence,’ which took almost five years to complete. The offering quickly garnered the attention of Season of Mist, who formed a union with the emerging band and is now reissuing the full-length for worldwide distribution as the old school tech death revivalists prepare to unleash a sophomore offering onto the masses.

VOYAGER Shares Metal Cover of Andrew Lambrou’s "Break a Broken Heart"

As Perth’s fearless, riff-laden, genre-bending band VOYAGER gets ready to conquer the world stage at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, the band is now sharing a metal cover of "Break a Broken Heart." The song is the current Eurovision song entry from Cyprus' representative Andrew Lambrou. VOYAGER's heavy version of the song can be found below.

VOYAGER comments on the cover, "We had such a wonderful time meeting Andrew Lambrou at Eurovision: Australia Decides in 2022, and were surprised to find he had one of the biggest metal playlists you've ever seen! So, covering his banger of an entry for Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest this year, 'Break a Broken Heart,' just felt like a natural fit. Can't wait rock out in Liverpool mate!”

The opening line of Voyager’s 2023 Eurovision song "Promise" is somewhat prophetic. As vocalist Danny Estrin belts out the lyric, “Have you ever done anything like this before?” audiences across the globe will realize they haven’t. For the first time ever, a band will represent the country – and not just any band – a band with soaring melodies, masterful riffs, keytar solos, powerhouse rhythms, and enough charisma to take on the world.

Shattering expectations, their resilience and determination has finally paid off. Theirs is a story of passion, perseverance, and patience. The band has been throwing their hat in the ring for the Eurovision Song Contest since Australia announced its participation back in 2015. Eight years later, they have prospered, overcome, and are now victorious. Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, with their song Stefania. This year, the United Kingdom will host the competition on Ukraine’s behalf with the theme United by Music. This is the ninth time the United Kingdom will host Eurovision and the fifth time it’s hosted for other countries due to financial or capacity issues.

SBS’s exclusive coverage will once again be in the capable hands of music buff Myf Warhurst and comedian Joel Creasey. This year marks 40 years of SBS broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest to all Australians, and the eighth year Australia has participated in the event.

South Carolina-based postpunk outfit Candy Coffins presents 'Another Kiss', the latest offering from their 'Once Do It With Feeling' album. With Cure-esque textures and melody, thematic elements and the visceral delivery of The Afghan Whigs, this 10-track collection showcases their best work to date, chronicling a relationship from the onset of the first crack to its complete crumbling dissolution.

Songwriter-singer Jame Lathren takes a deeply introspective turn on the treatment for the video, culling through literally thousands of photographs to present both the beauty and the sobering timeline of life. While the video appears to be very personal, it is one with which all of us can closely identify. Just as with life - the pivotal moments are captured, and the longer it goes on, the faster the pace seems.

“I love all the songs on the album, obviously - they’re my babies, but 'Another Kiss' is so special to me. I love the dynamics of the song and the brevity of, yet how impactful, the lyrics. But truly I love this song so much because the band, along with producer/engineer John Furr, were able to create what was in my head so closely - the sonic juxtaposition of the prelude to and the actual event of losing control. And many times that’s what artists are chasing, whether it be film, physical art mediums, or music - it’s that vision in your head. That’s what I am always chasing and this song gets there," says James Lathren.

“Ever since this song was written, I have envisioned a video that presents life on a timeline with the pressing urgency that comes with time seeming to move faster as one ages, as we all experience. I was elated (and a little surprised) that I was able to get that vision pulled off so succinctly, yet eloquently, in my opinion.”

Mixed by David Barbe (Drive-By Truckers, Superchunk, Deerhunter) at Chase Park Transduction (Athens, Georgia), the 'Once Do It With Feeling' album was produced and engineered by John Furr (E.Z. Shakes, Flippants) at Pow Pow Sound (Columbia, South Carolina).

'Another Kiss' follows the short film for 'Tangled Up In Teacups', the third act crescendo of a relationship in a tailspin with an urban ballerina-themed video produced and directed by The Pierson Collective. Earlier, the band previewed lead singles 'Every Day A Fresh Atrocity' and 'Seaside Girls'.

Vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Jame Lathren formed Candy Coffins in 2018 in Columbia, South Carolina. A cultural outcast, his resilience, sensitivity and hyper-awareness of his emotional state would ultimately permeate his own music, getting right to the heart of the emotions surrounding the human condition.

After disbanding his band Crown The Cake, he formed Candy Coffins with hometown guitar legend Tom Alewine (Bachelors of Art), followed by seasoned bassist Alex Mabrey, keyboardist Justin Purdy and drummer Jonathan Bradley (Iron & Wine). With dynamic and textured approach, the band's trademark lush sound bolsters Lathren’s emotive songwriting and delivery.

With tasteful nods to Joy Division, The Cure, The Psychedelic Furs, The Afghan Whigs and The Cult, as well as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spiritualized, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Interpol, Candy Coffins’ sound is dark and emotionally restless, but with elements of hope and elation. Defiantly unique, their sound is a welcome respite from musical mediocrity.

Toronto-London collective The Flowers Of Hell will release the first vinyl pressing of their cult classic ‘Odes’ album on April 22nd for Record Store Day UK. With a deluxe die-cut sleeve, this 180-gram red coloured pressing will be released via Space Age Recordings (known for its tightly curated roster with releases from Spacemen 3, Spectrum, The Telescopes, Acid Mothers Temple and The Silver Apples).

Lou Reed began the final episode of his BBC6 / Sirius-XM New York Shuffle radio show in 2012 premiering three tracks from this covers album, declaring the release to be “An amazing, amazing album” and praising it as, “So beautiful and great” and “Exquisite”, amongst other compliments shared.

The Flowers Of Hell mastermind Greg Jarvis notes, “Lou Reed’s praise meant more to us than a Grammy ever would," says  "It also meant all the time I spent in my youth smoking weed while listening to The Velvet Underground wasn’t a waste – it was research!”

Paying tribute to some of their favourite artists through orchestral-pop covers of BobDylan, Klaatu, Stereolab, Laurie Anderson, The Velvet Underground, Siouxsie & the Banshees and Neutral Milk Hotel, this album features appearances from Sea Power’s Neil ‘Hamilton’ Wilkinson and Abi Fry (Bat For Lashes, Sea Power), Prague underground legend Ivo Pospíšil and the Plastic People Of The Universe. Recorded in Toronto, 'Odes' was co-produced by the band & Grammy winning engineer Peter J. Moore (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Joe Strummer), who returned to remastered it for vinyl.
   
The band has also shared videos for their renditions of Joy Division’s 'Atmosphere' and 'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft', made famous by Toronto prog-rock group Klaatu (who were, at that time, thought to be The Beatles working under a pseudonym) and later on, The Carpenters. Penned in the early 1970s, this song was inspired by the 1950s International Flying Saucer Society effort to unite their members across the planet with a time and date to telekinetically communicate a specific message to alien lifeforms beyond Earth in hopes they might pick up on this. ‘Calling Occupants’ is now the official anthem of World Contact Day.  
 
The Flower of Hell frontman Greg Jarvis says, “When a 1950s global flying saucer society gets people to telepath a message into outer space and a mysterious ‘70s Toronto prog band turns that message into a tune that a spiraling-out pop act transforms into a 7-minute hit, how could we not try it for our covers album? It’s musically an incredibly complex song to do and so when Lou Reed spun our version on his radio show, it was like getting an A++ in music class.”

Since starting in London in 2005, playing Sonic Cathedral and AC30 club, The Flowers Of Hell have traversed the experimental edges of indie and orchestral music with works often rooted in the audio-visual synesthesia of Greg Jarvis. Despite relative obscurity, they’ve also been championed by Spacemen 3’s Pete Kember a.k.a. Sonic Boom, My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and members of The Legendary Pink Dots, Death In Vegas, The Wedding Present, The Fugsand The Plastic People Of The Universe, not to mention support from NASA’s mission control team and the Tate Gallery.
 
On May 12th, the group also releases their sixth studio album and their first in six years. 'Keshakhtaran' is a 42-minute psilocybin meditation piece in two parts, involving 20 artists, including Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, Beck) and avant-accordion legend Angel Corpus Christi (Suicide, Spiritualized, Dean Wareham). The advance taster single ‘Foray Through Keshakhtaran’ is out now, across digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.
 
Following Record Store Day UK, 'Odes' will be available on import in international shops two weeks later, on Friday, May 5th.

RAS-1 Drops Video For New Single "California Radio". New EP Coming June 1st Via Bottles To The Ground

Pioneer of the SoCal reggae-rock scene and founding member of Long Beach Dub All Stars, RAS-1, has released new single "California Radio" today. Find the track on streaming platforms HERE and watch the video below.

"California Radio" follows previous single, "Take Me Home" (co-written and produced by Fat Mike of NOFX) an emotional tribute to RAS-1's late father and features on his upcoming self-titled EP produced by Jungle Josh and due out on Fat Wreck label imprint, Bottles To The Ground on June 1st. The artwork for the EP, the "California Radio" single and the lyric video were all designed by famed poster artist EMEK. Pre-orders for the EP are available HERE.

ABOUT RAS-1

RAS-1 (Richard Arthur Smith) is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and visual artist. RAS-1 was an original member of LONG BEACH DUB ALL STARS, the band co-founded in 1996 by SUBLIME’S bassist and drummer, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, after the untimely passing of Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell.

RAS-1 became a principal member of the collective on both guitar and lead vocals, while penning many of the LBDA classics including his signature first single “Trailer RAS” and the hit “SUNNY HOURS” featuring WILL.I.AM of the multi-platinum hip-hop superstars BLACK EYED PEAS. These tracks, in addition to other fan favorites including “Rolled Up” and “Rosarito” from the LB DUB albums 'Right Back' (1998) and 'Wonders of the World' (2001), were released as one of the first artists and earliest album collections on David Geffen’s newly formed Dreamworks label.

Born and raised in North Town Long Beach to musical parents, RAS‘s mother, Dora Gail Smith sang for the all-girl Long Beach Jazz Quintet, DREAM. His father, Richard Smith was also known to play guitar while supporting his family working for the Union Pacific Railroad. RAS-1 began his musical career as a teenager in a band THE GRIFFIN with his songwriting cousin, J-Sun, who currently plays with STONEWING. JAH CHILDREN was RAS-1’s next original band, often playing on the same bill as SUBLIME at Long Beach backyard parties and punk rock clubs. A membership in local thrashers ALL DAY followed featuring PENNYWISE alumni Randy Bradbury and cohort Paul McFadden. RAS-1 additionally sang and played lead and rhythm guitar in SHORTBUS, a side project with SUBLIME’S bassist Eric Wilson, guitarist Trey Pangborn of FALLING IDOLS.

For 2 decades RAS-1 has maintained his own style while collaborating with legends along the way and is respected in the California reggae-jam scene as an architect of both the style and sound stemming from Southern California’s vibrant musical subculture.

NOW, RAS-1 returns as a SOLO ARTIST with a full band. After RAS-1 father’s passing, and with deepening health issues of his own, RAS-1 began a profound journey of self-discovery culminating in the poignant and honest requiem “Take me Home”.

A brand new album is in the works with the finishing touches being applied to an EP of new material including “Not Sorry" and “California Radio,” which were recently debuted during his high profile comeback slot on the inaugural CaliVibes Festival (Feb 2022). Avant-garde project THY CATAFALQUE is now sharing a stunning music video for the brand new single, "A csend hegyei!" The song is taken from THY CATAFALQUE's latest opus 'Alföld,' which is due via Season of Mist on June 16, 2023. Watch the video below.

Mastermind Tamás Kátai comments: "The title of the song means 'The Mountains of Silence' and this is the opening track of the album with the vocals of Lambert Lédeczy from Ahriman and Mörbid Carnage. The song is somber and dark, something that has been inside me for years and finally released. The video was created by Chad Michael Ward and shot in Sweden."

Meaning “The Great Plains,” ‘Alföld’ is grounded in the Avant Garde project’s heavy beginnings. While the record takes a cue from THY CATAFALQUE’s early days, mastermind Tamás Kátai’s modern progressive instincts shine through, elevating the record beyond the realm of metal as-you-know-it and once again creating a cutting-edge sound that’s far ahead of its time.

"'Alföld' is the most straight forward and classic extreme metal album the project ever recorded," says mastermind Tamás Kátai. "This time I just wanted to do metal without any innovation or progression, focusing on songs and riffs rather than experimenting and breaking new grounds. Had to let the old ideas out, so I did it with enjoyment. Alföld means The Great Plains, a massive flat part of South-East Hungary where I was born and raised and we shot the video for Néma vermek in the middle of the barren lands, in Makó-Bogárzó."

Originally, THY CATAFALQUE emerged as a black metal band founded by singer/keyboard player Tamás Kátai with the aid of guitarist/bassist János Juhász. Following their joined debut ‘Sublunary Tragedies’ (1999), the Hungarians evolved into quite different directions, but steadily gaining more followers in the process through the following albums, ‘Microcosmos’ (2001) and the self-released ‘Tűnő idő tárlat’ (2004).

On their fourth full-length, ‘Róka hasa Rádió’ (2009), THY CATAFALQUEinvited Ágnes Tóth from neo-folk outfit THE MOON AND THE NIGHTSPIRIT and Attila Bakos to add their haunting vocals. With fifth album ‘Rengeteg’ (2011), Tamás Kátai finally went solo with the help of guest musicians that again included Ágnes Tóth an Attila Bakos. Dubbing his eclectic musical amalgamation avant-garde metal, the Hungarian explored new sonic possibilities with ‘Sgùrr’ (2015). The sixth full-length turned out to be slightly more complex than its successor, ‘Meta’ (2016), which returned to a more direct approach without losing the steadily growing sonic diversity. In 2018, THY CATAFALQUE continued this path with the release of ‘Geometria’. THY CATAFALQUE delivered another spectacular musical mosaic with their ninth full-length entitled ‘Naiv’, inspired by the “Naïve Art” movement.

In 2021, THY CATAFALQUE return with ‘Vadak’. Meaning “Wildlings” in Hungarian, the album title is a deliberate clue to the exotic and feral essence of ‘Vadak.’ Like seedlings scattered throughout the forest by the mere forces of nature, THY CATAFALQUE’s imaginative sound grows with an organic sense of whimsy, cultivated within the vast influences of our megacosm. Thematically, ‘Vadak’ is a foreboding lesson in mortality. Emphasizing the fragility that is shared by man and beast alike, the record explores our Freudian life instincts, in which we inherently fear and run from the ultimate goal of existence: death.

Now, the visionary is looking to the past as it journeys onward and upward with its latest opus, which is just as familiar as it is forward-thinking, certain to mesmerize a vast swath of metal enthusiasts across all genres.

Today, music icons Boy George and Culture Club announced their 2023 tour, The Letting It Go Show, featuring very special guests Howard Jones and BERLIN across all dates. The prolific band will be performing all the hits, including “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me,” ‘Karma Chameleon,’ and ‘Church of the Poisoned Mind,’ right up to their current releases.

Produced by Live Nation, the 25-city run comes fresh on the heels of Boy George and Culture Club wrapping up their sold-out Vegas shows. The Letting It Go Show kicks off on Thursday, July 13 in West Palm Beach, FL at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre, with stops across North America in Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, Toronto, ON, Chicago, IL, Austin, TX and more before wrapping up on Saturday, August 20 in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion.

About Culture Club

Few new wave groups were as popular as Culture Club. During the early '80s, the group racked up seven straight Top Ten hits in the U.K. and six Top Ten singles in the U.S. with their light, infectious pop-soul. Though their music was radio-ready, what brought the band stardom was Boy George, the group's charismatic, cross-dressing lead singer. George dressed in flamboyant dresses and wore heavy makeup, creating a disarmingly androgynous appearance that created a sensation on early MTV. George also had a biting wit and frequently came up with cutting quips that won Culture Club heavy media exposure in both America and Britain.

By the time Culture Club's second album Colour by Numbers was released in the fall of 1983, the band was the most popular pop/rock group in America and England. "Karma Chameleon" became a number one hit on both sides of the Atlantic, while the album reached number one in the U.K. and number two in the U.S. Throughout 1984, the group racked up hits, with "It's a Miracle" and "Miss Me Blind" reaching the Top Ten. In the fall, the group returned with its third album, Waking Up with the House on Fire. While "The War Song" reached number two in the U.K., the album was a disappointment in America, stalling at platinum; its predecessor went quadruple platinum.

Following a brief tour in February, Culture Club went on hiatus for 1985, with Craig, Moss, and Hay pursuing extracurricular musical projects in the interim. Though their comeback single, "Move Away," became a hit in April, its accompanying album From Luxury to Heartache stayed on the charts for only a few months.

George confirmed the group's disbandment in the spring of 1987, and he began a solo career later that year. While his solo career produced several dance hits in Europe, he didn't land an American hit until 1992, when his cover of Dave Berry's "The Crying Game" was featured in the Academy Award-nominated film of the same name. In 1995, George published his autobiography, Take It Like a Man. Culture Club reunited in 1998, issuing the two-disc set VH1 Storytellers/Greatest Hits.

A new album, Don't Mind If I Do, appeared in 1999, reaching 64 on the U.K. charts; it did not receive an American release. Culture Club next celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a 2002 concert at Royal Albert Hall.

Culture Club reunited in 2014 for a tour and the band also began work on a new album with producer Youth. The group scheduled the release of an album called Tribes in 2015, but the record never materialized. Instead, the recordings provided the foundation for Life, the 2018 album that marked Culture Club's first new album in nearly 20 years. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi.

Australian metal juggernauts PARKWAY DRIVE — Winston McCall (vocals), Luke Kilpatrick (guitar), Jeff Ling (guitar), Jia O'Connor(bass), and Ben Gordon (drums) — are returning to the U.S. for a Fall 2023 headline tour. The band will also appear at several festivals, including Louder Than Life and Aftershock. 

The "Monsters of Oz" tour, which follows Parkway Drive's highly successful, sold-out Winter 2023 run, is special as it marks Parkway Drive's 20th anniversary as a band.

The trek will feature an all-Aussie lineup, with The Amity Affliction as direct support. Northlane and Make Them Suffer round out the bill.

The tour kicks off on July 7 in Philadelphia, PA and will trek across the continent until the final curtain on August 5 in Brooklyn, NY. The tour continues the successful run of show which began in November and December 2022. After exploring the idea of a Hologram tour in detail, Palmer (with the Estates of Emerson and Lake) opted for what they felt was a more honest approach using live footage of Keith and Greg on massive video walls alongside  Carl (and his band) playing LIVE on stage. The voice and instrumentation of Greg Lake and the unmistakable keyboard mastery of Keith Emerson will be mixed with Palmer’s onstage live drumming to magically reunite ELP once again. 

Emerson and Lake passed away nine months apart in 2016, leaving Palmer to carry on the band’s enormous musical legacy.
 
“The film ELP made of its sold out run at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1992 had everything we needed to make these tours happen.  We were able to use just the camera shots of Keith and Greg, with the sterling audio tracks of their performances resulting in a combination of film and onstage performance of my band that brings back the magic of ELP.”

After establishing themselves in bands such as The Nice, King Crimson, and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, ELP was formed in early 1970 as one of rock’s first (and biggest) supergroups. With record sales of over 50 million and decades of sold out tours through the 1970s and again in the 1990s, Emerson Lake & Palmer has remained one of the best-selling classic rock bands of all time. The band’s complete recorded catalog, now under the direction and distribution of BMG MUSIC, continues to be a steady force on the international music scene. The tour will coincide with the new BMG box set of classic ELP hit singles pressed on vinyl with reproductions of the original picture sleeves.

14th Annual “Darius and Friends” Benefit Concert Returns to Nashville's Ryman Auditorium June 5; Tickets On Sale This Friday

Multi-time Diamond-certified superstar Darius Rucker returns to the historic Ryman Auditorium on Monday, June 5 for his 14th Annual Darius and Friends concert benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. The event, which unofficially kicks off the week of CMA Fest in downtown Nashville and has raised more than $3 million to date, will feature an all-star roster of friends to be announced in the coming months.
 
“This is one of my favorite nights every year,” shares the three-time GRAMMY Award winner. “The work St. Jude does for children and their families, and the medical advances they are constantly making – it all continues to amaze me. It’s a huge honor to bring together some of my best friends in Nashville each summer to do what we can to support them through this event.”
 
Rucker, who has always prioritized philanthropic work throughout his career, made a commitment to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 15 years ago after taking an inspiring tour of the hospital. Through this meaningful experience, Rucker learned how St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
 
Reflecting on his 2008 visit to the hospital to the Tennessean, Rucker noted, “You see these kids who are sick, and they’re so happy to be there, because their caregivers are so loving and giving to them. And then you find out that nobody ever gets a bill. That blew me away. I was just like, ‘We’ll figure out some way to help you guys as much as I can.’”
 
Now, a decade and a half later, that effort has become an annual tradition. Hit TV Series "NASHVILLE" Kicks off International Reunion Tour in Chicago & Nashville this September

After a five-year hiatus from touring in the United States as a collective, the stars of the iconic, hit television series “NASHVILLE” are returning with shows in Chicago and in Nashville. “NASHVILLE” The Reunion Tour will play Chicago’s Rosemont Theatre on Saturday, September 23 and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Monday, September 25.
 
“NASHVILLE” The Reunion Tour will see stars Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson and Sam Palladio take to the stage to perform classic songs from the series as well as their own original material. The four artists will play the Ryman Auditorium on September 25, before kicking off a UK run starting on October 11 in Glasgow. Due to overwhelming demand and sold-out shows, additional dates were added to the UK tour, which will also travel to Birmingham, Manchester, London and Cardiff.
 
In a special one-night event, Chris Carmack will join cast members Bowen, Esten, Jackson and Palladio for the concert in Chicago on September 23. Carmack has previously toured with his “NASHVILLE” castmates and currently stars in “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC. 
 
“NASHVILLE” became a TV phenomenon when it first debuted in 2012. Before landing the iconic role of Scarlett O’Connor on the ABC/CMT/Hulu TV series “NASHVILLE”, and launching her career as a singer/songwriter, Clare Bowen was growing up in rural Australia. Bowen heard her first broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry on the wireless in her grandad’s kitchen and soon after, her classical vocal coach paused one of their lessons to comment on the “country lilt” that had naturally crept into Bowen’s voice. It would be another decade before she’d duet with heavyweights like Zac Brown and Vince Gill, recording songs with GRAMMY-winning producers like T-Bone Burnett and Buddy Miller who became her mentors. She released an eponymous album and performed before sold-out crowds in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. A pediatric cancer survivor, she was given just two weeks to live upon receiving a shocking cancer diagnosis at age four. With the strength of her family behind her, she survived a grueling chemotherapy regimen and is now known around the world as a beautiful ray of sunshine who leads with her heart, able to communicate and translate emotions whether on stage or on screen.
 
Now half of the duo known as BOWEN * YOUNG, she and her husband, Brandon Robert Young are releasing music that masterfully delves into the depths of ferocious love, heart-breaking loss and steadfast hope. Chris Carmack is an accomplished actor, singer-songwriter and musician, starring as Atticus "Link" Lincoln on ABC's award-winning, critically acclaimed drama "Grey's Anatomy." Carmack's EP, PIECES OF YOU, was written solely by him and produced by GRAMMY Award-winner Ben Fowler (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Phoenix Mendoza. Carmack and his wife and fellow musician, Erin Slaver, have also released an EP and several singles under their band name, Life on Eris.
 
Carmack previously guest starred on popular dramas such as "NCIS," "CSI: NY," "Desperate Housewives," "Smallville," "The O.C." and "CSI: Miami." He was cast as the lead in "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations" for After Dark Films. After many years working in feature films such as Tuck Everlasting and Insomnia, he played Avery Barkley in the renowned drama, “NASHVILLE”, for six seasons.

His works as an author include, The Harrowing of Hell and The Mystery of Art, which has been translated into Greek, Romanian and Russian. Jonathan was recently named Associate Dean and Primary Lecturer at Theoria School of Filmmaking.
 
Over the course of three decades in Hollywood, his journey as an artist, performer and public speaker has taken him to many places around the world, including the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Romania, Russia, Canada and Greece. He currently resides in Tennessee with his wife Elisa and their three children.

Sam Palladio grew up in Cornwall in the southwest of England, but it was in Music City, Nashville that Sam got his musical big break playing the role of Gunnar Scott in “NASHVILLE.” Since then, Sam’s been focusing on his debut record, collaborating with acclaimed British songwriters like Ed Harcourt, Jonny Lattimer and Nick Hodgson and recording with US producers Soren Hansen (New Politics), Paul DiVincenzo (Elle King) and Dave Sardy (Noel Gallagher, Snow Patrol, Modest Mouse, The Who).  Reflecting both his British roots and his new home in the States, the record feels uniquely personal and will finally be revealed to the world in 2023.

ANNISOKAY, the German rock x metal band, released their fifth studio album Aurora in 2021. The record entered the official German album charts on #18 and found the band reinvented. As usual, guitarist and singer Christoph Wieczorek was in charge of the production. But old braids were literally cut off and a new frontman was brought on board. The musical foundation, however, remained, with heavy guitar riffs, driving drum rhythms, and a mix of melodic singing and aggressive shouts. Rudi Schwarzer is now responsible for the latter. The new singer convinced fans upon performing live, as Annisokay played the X-Mas Bash Tour together with the EMIL BULLS in winter 2019. 

ANNISOKAY were founded in 2007. The band has already played successful tours in Europe, Great Britain, Japan, and the USA. Themes of media deception, war, terrorism, oppression, betrayal, natural disasters and the battle for survival are all woven in. The story of When Angels Kill begins in the future, when Phoenix, a young man caught in a world undergoing enormous changes, determines that the cunning, deceptive, and ruthless global leader that is enslaving billions will not subjugate him. Although it seems pointless and even fatal to resist, Phoenix joins a remnant of people that fight on for a better world. Traitorous love, catastrophic events, isolation, and impending doom darken his days, but Phoenix somehow retains his will to survive. The story concludes with a surprise ending.

Heavy metal was a new wave of music that was sweeping the globe, and FIFTH ANGEL is one of the forefathers of the legendary Seattle metal scene that produced iconic metal bands such as Queensryche and Metal Church.
 
In 1984, school friends Ted Pilot (vocalist), Ed Archer (guitarist) and drummer Ken Mary (Alice Cooper, Flotsam and Jetsam, House of Lords) joined forces with lead guitarist James Byrd and bassist John Macko. Inspired by the success of Queensryche, who shunned playing clubs for the sake of writing, recording and releasing their own music independently, FIFTH ANGEL chose a similar path. They focused on honing their writing and recording skills, crafting the incredible debut album “FIFTH ANGEL,” which today stands as a metal classic that has influenced countless bands.
 
Co-produced with famed music producer Terry Date, (Pantera, Soundgarden, White Zombie), “Fifth Angel” was Date’s first ever production. The album, recorded at Steve Lawson studios in Seattle and first released in the United States on Shrapnel Records, was distributed in Europe through a fledgling label named RoadRunner Records based in the Netherlands. The album quickly became a cult classic in the European metal community, charting higher than many major label releases.
 
Epic Records caught wind of the band, and were so impressed with “Fifth Angel” they signed the band to a seven album, $21 million dollar deal. Re-mastering the recording and re-releasing the album with new artwork, Epic unveiled FIFTH ANGEL to a worldwide audience in 1988.
 
The band received rave reviews, and was touted in the press as the “next big thing” in all the major metal magazines of the day, including Hit Parader, Kerrang!, RIP, Metal Edge, Metal Forces and many others. Kerrang! went as far as attaching a flexidisc of the band’s music onto their cover, and giving the center fold out of the magazine to the band as well.
 
In late 1988, the band entered the studio once again, this time with producer Terry Brown (Rush). Epic Records released “Time Will Tell” by FIFTH ANGEL in August of 1989. “Time Will Tell” saw the departure of lead guitarist James Byrd, and the introduction of guitar prodigy Kendall Bechtel. The video for “Time Will Tell” was released from the album, and went into rotation on MTV. An additional single from the album, “Midnight Love,” became the theme song for shock jock Howard Stern’s #1 ranked US radio show for over four years.
 
However, the winds of change were beginning to stir over the music industry, and when grunge music hit the US music market hard in the early 90’s, (music that ironically was based out of Seattle as well), FIFTH ANGEL disbanded. But that’s not the end of the story…
 
FIFTH ANGEL was invited to headline the Keep It True festival in Germany in 2010. The reception was incredible, with the sold out crowd singing the lyrics to every song. This positive momentum planted the seeds for a new album.

Finally, several of the members began writing and recording together, and the collective enthusiasm was very strong over the music that was created. Nuclear Blast signed the band to a new recording contract based on a three-song demo that was submitted in 2017, and in the fall of 2018 FIFTH ANGEL released their first new album in nearly 30 years, “The Third Secret.”

The album featured the incredible talents of Kendall Bechtel, Ken Mary and John Macko. Original guitarist Ed Archer soon returned, and along with two new members, Steve Carlson on lead vocals and Ethan Brosh on lead guitar, the lineup was completed after an unexpected departure at the end of 2018 by Bechtel.
 
“The Third Secret” topped the charts on Deaf Forever (DE), Rock Hard (DE) and numerous other international magazines, and brought the group back on the charts. In 2019, the band returned to the festival stages, headlining the Metal Assault festival in Würzburg, Germany, and then appearing at the Rock Hard and Alcatraz festivals in the Summer of that year.
 
FIFTH ANGEL will appear this spring at the Keep It True festival once again with the current lineup, and will also perform at Alcatraz (BE) later in August 2023.

VULVODYNIA Release Brand New Single "Eulogy of Ashes"

South African death metal Bulldozers VULVODYNIA have released a brand new stand alone single today. Titled "Eulogy of Ashes," the track showcases a more melodic death metal direction for the band and pays tribute to a much loved fallen king whilst exploring themes of death, legacy, and the afterlife. The track features melodic guitar lines and soaring choruses, while still retaining the band's signature intensity and technicality. The lyrics speak of a dark and apocalyptic world, with references to ravens, blood, and madness. The band's message is that death is inevitable, but art is immortal, and that one's legacy can live on through their creations. Elaborating on the new release, vocalist, Duncan Bentley shares

"We wanted to try something different with this song and incorporate more melody while still keeping the aggressive edge that fans expect from us,The lyrics are inspired by the idea that death is not the end, and that even after we're gone, our art and our legacy can continue to live on and inspire others."

HAKEN announce North America Fauna Expedition tour dates and new studio album

HAKEN have announced their seventh studio album ‘Fauna’, their most genre-busting and conceptually fascinating album to date, released on March 3rd, 2023. Now, the band are thrilled to announce tour dates for their North American Fauna Expedition for 2023. The tour will begin on May 3rd in Nashville, TN and conclude on June 3rd in Chicago, IL. Arch Echo will be joining the run as support.

‘Fauna’ sees the band exploring new ideas conceptually as Ross continues. “The premise of the album when we started writing it was that every song would have an animal assigned to it. They all have something related to the animal kingdom that we could write about, but they also connect to the human world. Each track has layers, and some of them are more obvious than others.”

“It reminds me of The Mountain,” adds guitarist and fellow founder Richard Henshall. “There, we had the idea of not really a narrative-based album, but more the concept of climbing a mountain and overcoming the obstacles along the way. Then we took that and thought about how it could relate to our everyday lives. All of Fauna’s animals relate to us, personally.”

‘Fauna’ also marks the return of keyboard player Peter Jones, whose sounds can be heard permeating the entire album. “What Pete’s brought sonically to the band has played a massive role in why we do have a lot of new sounds on this record,” says Ross. “It’s always a new dynamic when there’s a change in personnel, and this is a fresh and reviving one. It’s certainly helped proximity- wise, with Pete being in the country: Pete and Ray [Hearne, Haken’s drummer] would be at Rich’s place and they’d just start jamming. That’s really key to how the songs start.”

In the home-stretch towards the release of their much-anticipated 'Wonder' album, Oxford-based indiepop outfit Jody and the Jerms present their final single 'Insatiable', showcasing exemplary buoyant indie pop that harkens back to the feel-good vibes of another less complicated time and trailing the equally fun lead track 'Started Something'. Their third album to date, this new collection of 12 tracks was produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio in Oxfordshire. Loaded with a healthy dose of melodic chrystallised indie pop that is heartfelt and honest, they present endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable.

"We recorded the guitars and drums with Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio almost as an afterthought following a long day of recording tracks for the 'Wonder' album. We were about to call it a day, but we just kinda let rip with the guitar riff and a real nice and simple rock drum beat. But it wasn’t until Jody set the song’s direction with the lyrics that we know we had a really good single," says Niall Jeger

Championed by the late Janice Long at BBC, among others, Jody and the Jerms is a collective revolving around Jody Jeger (vocals) and Niall Jeger (guitars and vocals) with other band members coming from The Anydays, who have graced the pages of NME, played with Radiohead and Supergrass, and were featured on Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2.

'Wonder' follows their ‘Flicker’ album (2022) and debut album 'Deeper' (2020). Here, the Jerms deliver 12 jangle-pop gems, crafted with a sanguine innocence and vivid relatability. Warmly nostalgic and graced by Jody’s sweet-natured vocal, the band's output radiates somewhere between The Go-Go's, Blondie, The Bangles and The Darling Buds.

"Insatiable was inspired by the personal story of someone I once knew. The lyrics are predominantly about a high octane, powerful, larger than life, selfish man who lives life to the excess and well beyond his means. His domineering appetite for the best of everything, combined with his complete sense of self entitlement, does not leave much room for others' feelings," says Jody Jeger.

"In this song, it leaves his neglected partner feeling ignored, playing second fiddle to his ego and needing the bravery to leave. If only someone could make him see!"  

Formed in Oxford in 2019, Jody and the Jerms have been writing, recording and performing their blend of melodic and uplifting indie/ alt rock ever since, having enjoyed national airtime on Radio X (UK), Sirius XM (USA) and RTVE (Spain), as well as BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Wales and BBC Ulster.  

Jody and the Jerms' sound recalls those untouchable days indie music enjoyed in the 90s, possessing seemingly effortlessness melodies and choruses which embed themselves in your head for days.
