Minsk slamming death metal overlords, EXTERMINATION DISMEMBERMENT, have announced their new album 'Dehumanization Protocol' today, which will be released on May 5th via Unique Leader Records with pre-orders being available HERE. 10 years in the making, EXTERMINATION DISMEMBERMENT's new album 'Dehumanization Protocol' is more than just a collection of songs. Just like the band's previous two albums it weaves a complete and enthralling story. This time the plot revolves around the total annihilation of the planet's surface by artificial intelligence. Machines that once served humanity have now turned on its creators, declaring all living human beings as infection and requiring human blood as their fuel. Each track on the album tells an equally important part of this story, painting a vivid picture of the destruction and chaos wrought by these merciless machines.

What sets 'Dehumanization Protocol' apart from the bands other albums is the incorporation of new elements into their signature style, creating a unique flavor of robotic Slamming Brutal Death Metal that perfectly reflects the album's plot. Globally renowned independent record label, Sumerian Records have today announced the triumphant return of musical enigma, Poppy, to her original label home. Brutal Panda Records will release 'Live Bait', the debut EP from Denver, CO’s NIGHT FISHING, on April 21st. Comprised of four seasoned Rocky Mountain Road Dogs (members of Call of the Void, Green Druid, Abrams, Muscle Beach), NIGHT FISHINGexist to explore the boundaries of improvisation, mood and structure within the realms of heavy, instrumental sound. Today, they’re revealing the music video for “Alone With My Thoughts,” the record’s second single.

Across three tracks and 25+ minutes of fuzzed-out Heavy Psych, hypnotic Krautrock and free-form jazz, NIGHT FISHING seamlessly weave together a melting pot of brain-liquifying sonic euphoria. An experience that could only be formulated live in the studio and within the confines of the moment…NIGHT FISHING is for lovers and will take you where the vibe wants to go.

Drummer Gordon Koch, who also created the album’s trippy artwork via Artificial Intelligence, commented on how the project came together:

“NIGHT FISHING is a Heavy Psych/Krautrock improv concept I mulled over during the lockdown period of the initial COVID-19 outbreak. My longtime touring metal band (Call of the Void) had just broken up (December 2019) and my jazz connection had moved out of state so I had no musical prospects while I was held up in my apartment. I wanted to combine elements of improv jazz into a rock format using light song structure to allow for more natural flow of solos, giving each player room to breathe and express themselves. Once the city opened back up a little bit I hit the pavement looking for players. I found 3 friends from the Denver metal scene who were looking for something different and could handle the riffage!

“This EP was recorded live, as both an audio and visual experience, by Chris McNaughton at Rocky Mountain Recorders. We sat in the round with a full camera crew in the studio, led by Alex Pace, to capture the moment and energy, bouncing solos off each other all in one take. I feel like these first songs are a more "live" experience so I wanted the video crew there to allow everyone to join us. We were mostly familiar with all the hits but use a lot of eye contact and musical cues to move things along. This session was a BLAST to record, I think about 4 hours total in the room.”

He elaborated further on their second single “Alone With My Thoughts”, saying:

“This was our first song written as a group that took the NIGHT FISHING idea to fruition. Once we played it live in front of people we knew we had a great formula to expand on.”

'Live Bait' will see an April 21st release on tape, CD and digital formats.

Top-charting German force, FEUERSCHWANZ, will release their new studio album, 'Fegefeuer', on July 7, 2023 via Napalm Records! The successor to 2021’s acclaimed 'Memento Mori' (#1 Official German Album Charts) is fully dedicated to metal and thus consistently continues the band's path away from their comedic rock roots of days gone by.

Today, the band has already released the album's first single, "Bastard von Asgard" feat. Left to Suffer fans, rejoice! The Atlanta, GA nu-deathcore quintet have today made their triumphant return announcing their highly anticipated debut album, 'Feral' set for release on Friday, May 12. BRODEQUIN Re-Issues All Three Full-Lengths via Season of Mist

Brutal death metal outfit BRODEQUIN will be reissuing all three of its full-length records on LP and CD format via Season of Mist! The trilogy of ‘Instruments of Torture’ (2000), ‘Festival of Death’ (2001), and ‘Methods of Execution’ (2004) is a cohesive collection of the relentless, neck breaking brutality that define the Tennessean’s vicious sound. All three albums will be released on May 26, 2023 and can now be pre-ordered HERE.

In the meantime, "Methods of Execution" (2004), "Festival of Death" (2001), and "Instruments of Torture" (2000) are now streaming on all digital platforms!

The Brodequin was a French torture instrument used during the Middle Ages designed to destroy the legs of its victims. Enough ferocity was unleashed to not only shatter bone, but reduce the limbs to the point where the marrow would flow from the wounds.

Taking inspiration from this period in history three individuals from Knoxville, TN began composing music based off what was the most brutal of times. Brodequin chose and still uses period woodcuts and simple imagery from the era as a nod to its historical influence and as a way to demonstrate barbarity without the need for generic splatter illustrations that lack substance. This imagery would prove an important aspect of creating the bands unique brand among their peers and Brodequin’s version of brutal death metal. Brodequin is often cited as the band that pioneered the lyrical and visual themes of medieval punishment and torture used by many contemporary bands.

Brodequin’s first offering in 1998 “Instruments of Torture” made an immediate impact on the brutal death metal scene and was followed by another well received album entitled “Festival of Death”. For Brodequin’s third album “Methods of Execution” a new member (Jon Engman) was introduced and their first European appearances took place at Fuck the Commerce (Germany) and Obscene Extreme (Czech Republic). 

After a considerable hiatus Brodequin returned with a 2 song promo released in 2021 entitled “Perpetuation of Suffering”, featuring two of the three original members (Jamie & Mike Bailey) with a new drummer (Brennan Shackelford). With the lineup complete, Brodequin’s new material is among the best they have ever written. Plans are set for a 2023 release through Season of Mist Records.

New York City has always served as a cultural epicenter for musical innovation. Even more so than incubating genres in their infancy such as hardcore and even glam metal, for which bands like Twisted Sister and KISS long set the stage before the Sunset Strip took the reigns, the empire state has a storied and unique history of taking genres whose roots lie elsewhere and making them its own; whether it be Anthrax reinventing Bay Area thrash, Suffocation and Immolation planting their flag as death metal purveyors at a time when it was a primary export of Florida, or bands like Blondie and the Ramones rivaling the British punk scene, the city has always been at the forefront of musical excellence. And when it comes to New York’s answer to black metal, Black Anvil have not only been a driving force for USBM, but have taken the black metal genre as a whole and made it entirely their own. Here you have 12 tracks of unrelenting yet thought provoking evil, sure to have you take a second & thoroughly re-examined view of what you thought black metal was supposed to be. “This is a more stripped down and aggressive song writing approach. Having time to digest ‘As Was,’ to understand where we were then versus where we are now was key. We always focus inward with our writing, never wanting to repeat ourselves, while also not losing our identity in a stretch to sound different,” explains Black Anvil bassist/vocalist P.

Challenging the norm has always been a core part of Black Anvil’s DNA since their formation in 2007. Upon the release of their debut full-length, Time Insults the Mind, the band quickly garnered the attention of Relapse Records and were presented with a deal. When it came to album number two, the band diverged from the typical approach of their contemporaries and sought an unlikely counterpart to render their vision, tapping engineer “General” George Fullan (The Rolling Stones, Dream Theater) at Mark “The Animal” Mendoza’s (Twisted Sister) Diamond Drop Studio on Long Island, NY. Released in September 2010, sophomore offering Triumvirate received much critical acclaim, notably being revered as an "all-around monster metal album."

Four years after its release, Triumvirate was followed by Hail Death, a 70-minute journey of intensity that further established Black Anvil as a modern black metal powerhouse. The album was met with praise by publications including Noisey, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Metal Injection, and many more. With the album’s success, the band’s profile rose as they were tapped to participate in numerous prominent tours with black metal legends such as Mayhem, Watain, Urfaust, Marduk as well as dates with Aura Noir, Nachtmystium, Immortal, Eyehategod, Cannibal Corpse, etc. Additionally, the band has appeared at various prestigious festivals including the Scion Rock Fest, Beyond The Gates in Bergen, Norway and the renowned Roadburn Festival in The Netherlands.

In 2017, Black Anvil dropped their fourth studio-album, As Was. Atmospheric and melodic without relenting on any of the ferocity that the collective has always been known for, As Was seamlessly weaves through eight monumental passages of extreme metal art, more diverse, complex, and thought-provoking than anything they've done before. The record proved itself to be a stellar representation of modern black metal and of Black Anvil’s continuous progression and songcraft.

Now, nearly six years after As Was made its mark, Black Anvil is returning with its aptly titled fifth full-length, Regenesis. With a new record label, a new album, and a newfound exploration of dark and black metal, Regenesisrepresents a new dawn for the New York City collective. “The concept is renewal, as well as the process/journey to get here outgrowing our past,” explains P. “Black Anvil has always been a departure from our past, a vehicle for us to grow as individuals, like a snake constantly shedding its skin. We don’t look  back, but never forget.”

Make no mistake, Regenesis is not a departure from Black Anvil’s identity, but rather serves as the latest progression in the band’s ever-evolving sound. The record takes what As Was did best and does it even better. The unrelenting and polished aggression hangs in the balance above dark melodic passages, presenting a dynamic soundscape that serves as the band’s most devastating and existential offering to date. As it’s evident that the band pulls inspiration from unlikely corners, they defy all genre standards and make one thing clear - this isn’t just black metal, this is NYBM.

The Guess Who is a legendary Canadian band who enjoyed chart-topping hits in the late 60s and early 70s with an impressive catalogue of songs including "American Woman," "These Eyes," and "No Time." During the course of its career, the band has released 11 studio albums, all of which charted in Canada and the United States. Born from a musician’s desire to re-envelope their life in the heaviness that is metal and to refamiliarize with a conduit that could be considered detrimental amidst today’s destructive society, the gritty powerhouse that is Ontario, Canada hardcore/metal quartet TEETHemerged from the sludge of a foul generation.  

Resolved to utilize the carcasses of their conquered demons as fodder for a new euphonious weapon, TEETH wanted to create the most ignorant, aggressive-sounding music imaginable. Their latest offering A Biblical Worship Of Violence will be unleashed digitally on May 5th and on vinyl on July 21st via Nuclear Blast Records.
 

The band states, "A Biblical Worship Of Violence is our ode to the ache of change - a snapshot of a moment in time where we were all going through dark shifts in our personal lives that forced us to see life through the lens of true pain and discomfort. We knew we needed to create something so visceral and honest to articulate what we’d been going through while also giving us the opportunity to speak on the state of this world. Division, compulsion - an intrinsic gravitational pull toward cruelty and brutality. ABWOV is a commentary on human beings darkest, most volatile conventions."

Today the band release the second single "Hate Me" from the upcoming EP. The music video was shot and directed by the band while Matthew Daly at Clearway Media handled the editing.

TEETH comments on the single, "'Hate Me' is about watching the people around you - whether it's your peers, family/loved ones, colleagues - self-destruct over petulant nonsense. Watching a marriage or friendship crumble over disagreements when both parties are too blinded by our inherent attraction to turmoil to see the pettiness of it all. It's about how we - as humans - are so viscerally unwilling to budge in our cemented beliefs and beholden to our egos that we'd rather just let the house burn down to prove our point. A Biblical Worship of Violence was recorded in the Fall of 2020 at Bell Tower Studios. Davis Maxwell and the band were responsible for producing and engineering the record while Lance Prenc handled mixing and mastering. This time around the band enlisted Heavy Sleeper Co to create the album artwork and layout.

Texas troubadour George Strait has announced a two-night-only event in his home state, with back-to-back concerts set for Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena. The King of Country Music will be joined by special guest Caitlyn Smith for both dates.
 
The two-night stand is a reprise of Strait’s two nights at Dickies Arena in 2022, which both sold out within hours of going on sale to the public. Tickets to the 2023 shows go on sale to the general public Friday, April 14 at 10 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster.com. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. CT through Thursday, April 13 at 10 p.m. CT.

When it comes to straight-forward, bone-crushing death metal, Tokyo’s DEFILED delivers! ‘The Highest Level’ stays true to the traditional death metal formula, while the band’s gritty songwriting approach lends to its authenticity. DEFILED attempts to make no frills with this new full-length, instead speaking directly to the sensibility of old school death metal fanatics who are simply looking for some face-melting violence!

The early 90s was a crucial and formative time for death metal, a genre that started to predominantly emerge in the west with bands like Decide, Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy, Obituary, and Morbid Angel having a stronghold on America while Entombed, Cadaver, Carcass, and many others started to make waves in Europe and the U.K. But across the vast Pacific Ocean, DEFILED was taking a cue from its peers and became one of Asia’s leading purveyors during the genre’s early inception.

Upon releasing a series of demos and EPs during the mid-90s, the Japanese powerhouse finally released its first full-length, ‘Erupted Wrath,’ via Nightfall Records. Upon its release, the band broke out of Asia and started to make its debut in America across the extreme metal fest circuit – performing twice at Milwaukee Metal Fest as well as appearing at November to Dismember in Texas.

The band kept busy during the turn of the century while continuing to build their profile and dominate metal audiences around the globe and by 2003, they formed a union with Season of Mist, where the band has become one of the label’s most consistent death metal mainstays. Since then, the band has released six full-length albums, the majority of which are under the Season of Mist banner.

As the band celebrates thirty years since its legacy was formed, they are ready to unleash another pummelling offering onto the masses. ‘The Highest Level’ still carries the same time-tested formula that Defiled established three decades ago, remaining true to their identity, and still carrying the torch as one of the genre’s founding fathers.

After years of relentless hard work and refining their craft, Southampton based metalcore band Our Hollow, Our Home returned with their third album Burn In The Flood.

OH, OH have toured with Asking Alexandria and Blessthefall, and enjoyed high-profile slots at festivals such as Graspop, Nova Rock, Summerblast, and Jera On Air. The band was boosted by a hugely popular cover of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" back in 2017, which was picked up by BBC Radio One's Greg James. UK-France duo The Noise Who Runs will soon release their ‘Preteretrospective’ album, a 14-track offering from the mind of Ian Pickering (of Sneaker Pimps and Front Line Assembly). Ahead of that, they share the final single '2poor2die', addressing the growing inequality in society and the struggle of the unheard / unseen decent people without voices and increasingly without hope.

The record's spiritual centrepiece, '2poor2die' is, at once, a celebration of ordinary bravery in the face of the daily grind of routine and a condemnation of the eternal ideology that sees working people as cannon fodder, only to be told "Shut up and get on with it, nothing’s gonna change". Call it a tribute to the folks who are barely considered worth considering.

Certainly, '2poor2die' pulls no punches. Here loud, noisy guitars and pounding drums and bass are set against a deceptively simple lyric, almost nursery rhyme-like in its repeated refrain:
Rip it up, strip it down, over again
Pack it up, wrap it up, over again
Sick it up, spit it up, over again
Rip it up, tear it up, start it again

This follows two remarkable singles from the album - the anthemic lead track 'Beautiful Perhaps' and 'Takes a Long Cold Look and Then The Kitchen Sink' - the impossible, illegitimate child of solo album-era Syd Barrett and immediately post-Talking Heads David Byrne.

Ian Pickering (co-author of such Sneaker Pimps hits as 'Spin Spin Sugar', '6 Underground' and 'Tesko Suicide') wrote this material simultaneously to material for the latest Sneaker Pimps album. Formed four years ago upon relocating from Hartlepool, England to Lille, France, The Noise Who Runs is now a duo with Brazilian-French guitarist Felipe Goes.

“Around three minutes into the video, we use a quote from Richard II, King of England, following the Peasants’ Revolt around 1381, and it’s not difficult to understand how clearly that remains the prevailing view of the establishment when it comes to the people and any hope that fairness is gonna somehow trickle down to us all here at the bottom. And it’s a terrifying quote really. And that’s why we have The Noise Who Runs, to challenge all that," says Ian Pickering.

"You wretches detestable on land and sea: you who seek equality with lords are unworthy to live. Give this message to your colleagues: rustics you were, and rustics you are still; you will remain in bondage, not as before, but incomparably harsher. For as long as we live we will strive to suppress you, and your misery will be an example in the eyes of posterity."

A literal translation of ‘O bruit qui cour’, a French phrase meaning ‘gossip’, The Noise Who Runs was also the name of Pickering’s favourite restaurant, where the ideas for this project fell into place.

The Noise Who Runs' is rooted in the shared principles and approach to making music of punk/new wave and early hip-hop - both the mentality and the message. This brand of indie-electronic rock is heavily shaped by the 1970's experimental electronic scene in Sheffield, the 1990's guitar-house mix of the Manchester scene, Primal Scream's guitar-electronic sound after 1997’s 'Vanishing Point', and 2000’s XTRMNTR.

'2poor2die' is out now via Bandcamp, where 'Preteretrospective’ can already be ordered. As of April 21, the full album will be available across digital music platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.

TAPROOT RELEASE NEW SINGLE “VIP (V\CT\M \ PLAY)” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM SC\SSRS, ANNOUNCE ALBUM RELEASE TOUR

Michigan Hard Rock favorites TAPROOT have released the first single “VIP (V\CT\M \ PLAY)", from their upcoming 7th studio album SC\SSRS, produced by guitarist/vocalist Stephen Richards at The Loft in Saline, MI. The album, written and recorded by Richards, will be the band’s first studio release since 2012’s The Episodes(Victory), set to hit stores September 29th via THC MUSIC/Amplified Distribution.

The single, currently available for streaming and download on BANDCAMP at taprootofficial.bandcamp.com, will be available on digital outlets on 5/5.

Taproot has also announced a string of upcoming headlining shows, marking the band’s first shows in over six years, and their first tour in over a decade, set to feature special guests September Mourning, Eva Under Fire, Smile Empty Soul, and Heartsick on select dates. The upcoming shows will also showcase the return of original drummer Jarrod Montague, who will join the band for select upcoming shows (with all other shows featuring longtime drummer Dave Coughlin of Sponge), and new full-time guitarist Taylor Roberts (Riding With Killers).

The band has also announce a headlining appearance August 18th at the 2023 NORTHWOODS ROCK RALLY in Glen Flora, WI, as well as their previously announced “reunion” appearance at Blue Ridge Rock Fest in September.

Taproot formed in 1997 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and went on to sign to Atlantic Records, releasing their Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Pantera, Mindless Self Indulgence) produced debut album GIFT in 2000, followed by extensive touring including appearances on Ozzfest 2000 and 2001, and tours with Deftones, Incubus, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed, and Linkin Park.

The bands sophomore release Welcome, their first pairing with legendary producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica, Korn, Primus) which Rolling Stonecalled, “a self-preserving transition from new metal to art metal”, went on to sell over 500,000 copies and spawn the hit Rock singles “Poem”, which peaked at #5 on the Mainstream Rock charts, and “Mine”, helping propel "Welcome" to over 50 million digital streams. The band would continue heavy touring with Alien Ant Farm, Chevelle, joining Disturbed on the Music As A Weapon Tour, and Linkin Park. Vocalist Stephen Richards would also appear on the track “P5hng Me A*wy” on Linkin Park’s 2002 remix album REANIMATION.

2005 saw the release of Blue-Sky Research, also helmed by Wright, the band’s final release for Atlantic, which spawned the hit radio single “Calling”, co-written with FAR vocalist Jonah Matranga, and saw the band collaborate with Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Nick Hexum (311), and Stephen Carpenter (Deftones), with heavy touring again, with the likes of Chevelle, Staind, P.O.D., and Flyleaf.

Taproot released several more full-length studio albums, including 2008’s Our Long Road Home (Velvet Hammer), 2010’s Plead The Fifth (Victory), with the single “Fractured (Everything I Said was True)” reaching the top 20 on the Active Rock Chart, and 2012’s The Episodes, while continuing to tour consistently through 2013, when the band went on an indefinite hiatus, returning only to play a sporadic handful of local Michigan shows, before reforming officially this year.

Taproot will play BLUE RIDGE ROCK FEST in September, and The Machine Shop in Flint, MI on 9/29.

UK indie pop artist Ruth Blake presents her new single 'Not Your Angel', rejecting the idea that our beauty lies only in our capacity to be angelic, beautiful and sweet. An antidote for that toxic ideology, Blake invites women to embrace their own fierceness.

This single marks a departure from Blake's folkier sound and is the first time she has gone completely electronic with a track. Inspired by Joan as Policewoman, glitchy electronica and dirty bass lines, this creatively refreshing sound honours another facet of her artistry and the human experience - one that is fierce and strong.

Originally from the Midlands, Blake now resides in the mists and vales of Somerset, where she creates multi-faceted music that stirs the soul and is rich with symbol and storytelling.

On this track, Ruth collaborated with London-based producer James Yuill, who has worked with such artists as Erasure, M83, Mint Royale and Au Revoir Simone, in addition to having music featured on Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Scrubs, Love Island, The Inbetweeners and Dead Pixels.

"I wrote this song after a sudden and unexpected break up, which I was trying to make sense of. My ex made a comment about how shocked he’d been to see my angry side, as if it made me lesser in his eyes somehow, and I felt completely betrayed, not to mention dumbstruck that he couldn’t understand that my rage was indicative of how much pain I was in. I felt as though my rage was something to be ashamed of and that just made me more angry," says Ruth Blake.

"The song became a way for me to really honour and embrace my rage, while shaking off outdated shackles of the 'good girl' and over-sanitised notions of femininity I've been conditioned with. I wanted to reclaim it as a sacred, vital force and say a massive ‘fuck you’ to anyone who would judge me for it. As women, we have become so terrified of our anger, but having lived through a great deal of manipulation and abuse in my time, reconnecting with my anger has been fundamental on my journey towards learning where my boundaries are and how to defend them."

Having received an unusual musical education from pioneering composer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist Edward Chilvers, Blake crowdfunded her debut album 'Lullabies for Grown-Ups' (2015), followed by 'Creation' in 2018. Lyrically profound and musically sophisticated, Ruth’s music is born out of her own passion for self-knowledge and the deeper truths of existence.

Her career has led to her recording at Real World Studios with James Frost and also to involvement in Manchester-based collective Caulbearers, as well as the Music as Medicine collective and Brightsky Community. Her latest solo work prior to this new single is the uplifting 'Brave Ships'.

'Not Your Angel' will be released on April 4 and available across digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.
