Mawiza Summon the Storm with New Video for “Ngulutu”

After taking the world by storm last year with their new album ÜL, Mawiza are beating the drum for indigenous metal even louder in 2026. The modern day Mapuche warriors paid a visit to Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier’s Silver Chord Studio and performed to a packed house in Santiago before taking the stage alongside Mr. Bungle and Avenged Sevenfold.

Today, Mawiza are releasing a new video for the most fierce and combative song off ÜL. While at one with the forces of groove metal, “Ngulutu” (The Western Storm) declares war on encroaching urban decay.

“In Mapuzugun, 'Ngulutu’ comes from Ngulu, which means West”, Mawiza’s vocalist and guitarist Awka says. “The song refers to an abysmal storm born in the turbulent Pacific Ocean that reaches the land in the form of bursting, shattered clouds. It’s a declaration of war on the so-called progress of large cities, merging ourselves as a single entity with nature”.

Mawiza wrote “Ngulutu” six years ago in response to a social uprising in Chile, but the source material that inspired the latest single from ÜL dates as far back as the 16th century. “Both historical records and our oral tradition remember the ancient Mapuche war toki Michimolongko, who, together with his kona and weychafe, managed to destroy  Santiago in 1541”, Awka recalls. “This song is a tribute to those ancient warriors and to the power of the natural territory that lies beneath the city”.

While the torrential groove of “Ngulutu” is bound to churn the pit when Mawiza storm the stage at Midgardsblot this summer, the band draws its strength from their ancestral land. The song’s chorus calls on the spirits of the Mapocho and Maipo Rivers with surging, shark-like riffs and drums that beat with the unrelenting force of a tidal wave. “Müley taiñ amuleal / Fewla, fey llemay (We must keep moving forward / Now it shall be done!)”, Awka chants, summoning a breakdown that brings the most towering cities crumbling into ruin.

“The two rivers named in the chorus of ‘Ngulutu’ are both vital for life in the territory and even for the lives of city dwellers”, Awka explains. “Yet when it rains enough, the rivers overflow, causing the collapse of the urban order. It reminds us that nature is an active entity that cannot be tamed, one that sets the path we must follow as Mapuche people”.

ÜL pays tribute to nature and Mawiza’s ancestors. "Ngulutu" recalls ancient battles between the Mapuche and the Spanish in Santiago, Chile. "Mamüll Reke", "Wenu Weychan", "Lhan Antü", and "Kalli Lhayay" are filled with rhythms and sounds reminiscent of the most hermetic rituals of the Mapuche people. They were used by shamans to induce trance and heal the sick, to communicate with and greet the spirits of the mountains.

Closing song "Ti Inan Paw-pawkan" features chants from members of Mawiza’s indigenous community, as well as Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier. It is here, during the album’s finale, that the band stake their claim as both indigenous and urban. The song acknowledges the mission entrusted to Mawiza by Mapuche authorities and by the land itself: to raise awareness about balance on Earth in an empowered way and to call for greater attentiveness to Mapuche territory. Otherwise, the consequences will be dire.

Guilt Trip Drop 3-Track "God Forgives" EP Today + Share Video for "Dirt" + "Angel Eyes"

Manchester, UK-based five-piece GUILT TRIP — Jay Valentine [vocals], Jak Maden [guitar], Sam Baker [guitar], Tom Aimson [drums], and Lily Kilcoyne[bass] — are one of the most exciting and fast-rising bands in heavy music. They have surprise-dropped the three-song EP, God Forgives, today, February 11. Listen and get it here.

It includes two new tracks — "Dirt" (which premiered on Daniel P Carter's Radio 1 Rock show on February 9) and "Angel Eyes" (which premiered via SiriusXM Liquid Metal on February 10) — as well as a new mix of the previously released "Burn."

The band also shared a music video event presented in two parts featuring "Dirt" and "Angel Eyes," which can be viewed below. It's quite a one-two knockout punch. 

"God Forgives is a culmination of progress and the embodiment of Guilt Trip's identity, whilst consciously trying to build on the style and songwriting onSeverance we are yet embracing and moving with the sound we achieved on that record," says Valentine. "The songs were written with one thing in mind: 'Make it better' and we hope we have hit the mark for every Guilt Trip fan out there."

Regarding the accompanying video, he says, "It was birthed by a mix of transitioning lyrical themes into visuals and original ideas that we felt best represented the subject matter metaphorically. We wanted to show something other than just a live performance — a story that could entertain while relating to the music and still convey a message but be open enough for the watcher to make their own interpretations."

The EP highlights the band's gritty and groove-laden metallic hardcore style — and is just a taste of what's to come for the band's forthcoming full-length.

Guilt Trip started to forge a seething signature style without comparison back in 2015. Jay and Jak cemented a lifelong bond as best friends at four-years-old when they met at reception in school. Over the years, the duo introduced one another to various favorite bands. Eventually, they welcomed fellow Manchester scene friends Tom, Sam, and Lily to the fold. To get to this point, the collective grinded the old-fashioned way one gig at a time, bulldozing their way out of sweaty basements and onto cramped club stages. They dropped the Unrelenting Force EP during 2016 followed by their 2019 full-length debut, River of Lies. The latter spawned "Thin Ice," which reeled in 7.1 million Spotify streams and counting. 2023's Severance marked a turning point. It boasted popular collaborations with LANDMVRKS and Malevolence, while KERRANG! hailed their "unique brand of hardcore that sees them delve into elements of thrash, old-school hardcore and fist-pumping metal." Beyond sharing the stage with everyone from Sylosis to While She Sleeps, they lit up festivals, including Download, Hellfest, and more. Attracting Roadrunner Records to their corner, the musicians decamped to StudioOWZ in Clarbeston, Wales with producer and engineer Adam "Nolly" Getgood [Periphery] during early 2025.

Bobby Jensen and The Dead Cowboys Release the Animated Music Video for The Lake.

The Dead Cowboys want to let everyone know that because of confusion over the band name they are now known as Bobby Jensen and The Dead Cowboys. To celebrate the slight name change Bobby is releasing The Lake the first in a series of four music videos taken from the debut album. The video was done by Andy Pilkington who did the Judas Priest Painkiller video.

Bobby Jensen shares his reasoning for the name change, “The name change came about because over the course of the 20 years since I trademarked the name, Dead Cowboys, other groups around the country had started to use the name so there was confusion with talent, buyers, and fans when they would Google the name and be brought to somebody else’s page. I could have chased them all down and given them cease and desist orders but I kind of had a moment of clarity and felt like the name and the idea and concept had run its course and honestly wasn’t working out to be what I intended it to be again.

It was a great thing that we did as a band years ago, but even when recreating it, it wasn’t the same. More importantly, my own name had grown to be much bigger with tens of thousands of followers already following me as Bobby Jensen, especially since the world knows me from the viral hair fire video as Paul Stanley of KISS so I decided to use my own name and title the album “Dead Cowboys”. Now the legend can live on in the songs and I can create the stories with a lot more freedom and not get the band stereotyped into one thing.”

Talking about the new music video, Bobby adds, “The Lake came about when my friend Mike stopped over and was running some ideas of his own that he had come up with and I honestly don’t remember anything about what he came up with except for the first line of the song was “He sees dead cowboys wait in the night looking to rob a train”, and “boom goes to the dynamite”. Those two things stuck in my head for a while, and I thought it would be cool to have a song about a train robbery so while noodling on my guitar, I came up with the music and the lyrics. Not really knowing what to call the song. I decided to call it “The Lake” since that’s where everybody dies.

The video was done by Andy Pilkington who did the Judas Priest Painkiller video. He has worked with Saxon, Dee Snider, Motorhead and more. He did the first two videos for “bad friends and good times“ and “super country cowboy”. While we were discussing other songs and ideas, I mentioned to him that some of these stories could actually fit together as continuations of the video so he really liked the idea and we took four songs to become the saga of the demon desperado. It will be a four part video that may be a continuation with other songs in the future. That’s where the freedom of the creativity to write songs about the demon desperado and the dead cowboys I had mentioned earlier. Maybe someone would make them into movies someday.”

IATT Announce New Single "Drift Away" From Forthcoming Album Etheric Realms of the Night

Philadelphia progressive extreme metal visionaries IATT unveil "Drift Away", the first single from their upcoming full length album Etheric Realms of the Night, out May 8, 2026 on Black Lion Records. Accompanied by a cinematic music video, the track serves as the opening chapter of the album’s overarching narrative and its companion film, guiding listeners into the shifting terrain between waking consciousness and the dream world.

"Drift Away" begins in an unexpected place of calm. Gentle acoustic guitar and expressive flute lines create a sense of weightlessness, capturing the moment when the body relaxes and the mind begins to slip beyond the physical world. Kalavrezou’s mystifying cleans remain one of Unverkalt’s defining traits. Even when trembling beneath the monolithic riff of “I, The Deceit”, her contempt for those who stand by as the world burns is heated when forged alongside her Athenian brother-in-arms Sakis Tolis from Rotting Christ. But as the album draws to a close, Héréditaire ends shadowed in doubt for the future. “Bathed in lies / Can we make it better” she wonders before disappearing into the shivering wake left by “Maladie de ‘Esprit”.

“This album is not meant to resolve”, the band says, “but to dissolve patterns from those who came before, faceless yet familiar. The colors have drained. What remains is veiled in black, not as a symbol, but as a truth that covers everything”.

On Héréditaire, Unverkalt lift the veil on our cursed existence with their heaviest and most heartfelt offering.

HELLRIPPER Unleashes Electrifying Title Track from Upcoming Opus, "Coronach"

Scotland's ibex-obsessed blackened thrash bastard of Hades, otherwise known as HELLRIPPER, is now unleashing the electrifying title track from his upcoming fourth studio album, 'Coronach,' which will be released worldwide on March 27, 2026 via Century Media Records, making it his debut to the label! The anthemic single, “Coronach,” can now be heard along with a lyric video created by Irvan Dionisi / Theblackvisual.id below.

Hellripper’s mastermind, guitarist/vocalist and songwriter James McBain comments, “A coronach is a vocal lament traditionally performed at funerals in the Scottish highlands. Intertwined with my own words is the poem of the same name by Sir Walter Scott, which served as an inspiration for this story: the funeral of an ambivalent and mysterious figure, revered by his community for his heroic deeds but whose life hid many dark secrets. As well as lyrically, the track is also a musical experiment for me; it was primarily influenced by late 80’s thrash metal along with bands like Bathory, Gallowbraid and Atlantean Kodex. A dash of post-punk, a fair amount of Iron Maiden-style guitar harmonies, some classical references and the haunting wail of the bagpipes fading in the distance: this song feels like the perfect farewell to the album."

The brainchild of guitarist/vocalist/solitary force, James McBain, Hellripper has been running like a denim-vested, backpatch-encrusted William Wallace, bravehearting his way through metal's bloodiest battlefields since first coagulating his personal darkness in 2014. Taking armaments from “Kill 'Em All” era Hetfield and “Welcome to Hell” era Mantas, McBain has immersed his fascination with darkness and speed with Scottish history and come with bloody masterpieces like 2023's “Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags” that Metal Injection stated: "Bursts with growth and a mature exploration of darkness and eeriness while maintaining that original high-octane burning”. McBain is presently sharpening his blades and casting new spells that will transmogrify into Hellripper's Century Media debut “Coronach”.

HASTE THE DAY, the metalcore band that made a scene splash in the '00s, returned in 2024 with the video for the new song "Burn." They also appeared at Furnace Fest that year. It was their first music in nearly a decade.

But they didn't stop there. Not a chance!

Haste The Day conjure the sound of coming full circle. The Indiana-bred band rekindles the spark at the heart of their signature style by sharpening the edges, tightening the melodies, and amplifying the scope with cinematic ambition. Haste The Day have clung to their integrity since initially emerging at the turn of the century. Following Burning Bridges [2004] and When Everything Falls [2005], Stephen made his formal debut as the group's frontman on Pressure The Hinges [2007]. The band unleashed a trio of fan favorite offerings, namely Dreamer [2008], the seminal Attack Of The Wolf King [2010], and Coward [2015]. "'Murder Scene' explores eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-doubt, and how dreams can become nightmares when the same people who once cheered for you are now criticizing you," says singer and songwriter Amanda Lyberg. "The dream of being on stage comes with a spotlight on my personal flaws. I'm just a body. To be picked apart and judged and perceived. Anxiety is a liar in my head. It tells me I'm not good enough to be here. So, I fight it. I changed my name and my image to prove it wrong. Still the anxiety gets louder. I think it's trying to kill me. In a world so desensitized, it feels like death has been redefined as a minor inconvenience. I'm insecure about my body so anxiety might win. My skin is crawling, and every part of my body feels wrong. Maybe I'll call a doctor and get it altered. Maybe if I don't eat, I'll feel better."

"Murder Scene" is the follow-up to the blistering and inspirational anthem "Awakening," released October 17 via Better Noise Music. It was the first taste of new music in two years from the Detroit, MI quintet.
  

For all of EVA UNDER FIRE's new music, Amanda drew on her career as a licensed therapist to foster an open dialogue among the band members, empowering everyone to be heard during the recording. Her work in therapy started in 2018 when she graduated with a Master of Arts in Psychology degree and went on to work at a mental health clinic in Detroit, Transcendence Behavioral Health (owned by Dr. Stephanie Williams). That same year, her father passed away due to a fentanyl overdose. Her mother survived the same batch that killed her father and has been sober for the past six years. In addition to her thriving and busy music career, Amanda is currently a practicing psychotherapist specializing in trauma work, grief and loss, and addiction recovery.

Her story turned into a 2023 short film, My Rockstar, which used EVA UNDER FIRE music throughout, and has won over 20 awards in several film fests including Orlando Film Fest, Wild Rivers Film Festival, Toronto WILDfilm Festival, and many others.

In touring news, EVA UNDER FIRE will hit the road for a six-week U.S. tour with Jeris Johnson and Butcher Babies starting February 8 in Portland, OR. Later this summer, EVA UNDER FIRE has been announced as a support act tour along with Cody Jinks for Five Finger Death Punch’s 20th Anniversary World Tour 2026.

KING ULTRAMEGA Release Tribute Cover of "Preaching The End Of The World" Honoring Chris Cornell and Supporting MusiCares

KING ULTRAMEGA have released a powerful new single, a cover of "Preaching The End Of The World", recorded in loving memory of Chris Cornell while raising funds and awareness for MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s nonprofit that provides mental health services, addiction recovery support, and emergency assistance to members of the music community.

Originally written and performed by Chris Cornell, "Preaching The End Of The World" remains one of the most emotionally resonant songs of his solo career. The new interpretation from KING ULTRAMEGA preserves the emotional core of the original while expanding its sonic landscape with layered guitars, cinematic keyboards, and a dynamic, atmospheric arrangement.

The recording features vocals by Ian Thornley of BIG WRECK, guitars by Pete Thorn, bass by Mark Menghi, keyboards and synth by Dave Kerzner and Frank Mitaritonna, and drums by Kenny Aronoff. The track was produced by Mark Menghi, engineered by Frank Mitaritonna, Dave Kerzner and Mark Menghi, mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur, with cover artwork and video created by Costin Chioreanu. Speaking about joining the project, Ian Thornley said, "Pete Thorn is a dear friend and fellow Canadian who I know played with Chris Cornell for many years. He’s a great musician, and we’re always looking for projects to do together, so it was a quick ‘yes’ from me."

Kenny Aronoff shared, "I wanted to be part of this project because I know Mark was involved, and I’ve always been a huge fan of anything Chris Cornell on so many levels. ‘Preaching The End Of The World’ is an amazingly beautiful song, and Chris’s vocal performance is one of the most passionate and emotional vocal performances I have ever heard."

Producer and bassist Mark Menghi reflected on the song’s meaning, saying, "It’s a song about loneliness and searching for connection, something I can relate to. Just listen to the lyrics of this song. Chris is authentic, emotional, and vulnerable."

Pete Thorn also looked back on performing the song live with Cornell. "‘Preaching The End Of The World’ is a beautiful song that I always enjoyed performing with Chris during my time on tour with him. I remember a show in Tel Aviv where he talked about writing it during a dark time, but ended by saying, ‘but I made it!’ I always think about that in a positive way. He made it for a long time, and we should all be thankful for that."

Discussing the musical direction, Menghi added, "When I chose this song for KING ULTRAMEGA, I had a late 60s Beatles production vibe in mind. I tried to honor what made Chris’s original recording so special, not only instrumentally but in the production as well."

Ultimately, the musicians view "Preaching The End Of The World" as a defining piece of Chris Cornell’s artistic legacy, and hope this tribute both honors his songwriting and helps support members of the music community through MusiCares.

With Clémentine from VISIONS OF ATLANTIS, we found the perfect match to bring the story to life. Clémi and Gabri complement each other beautifully! ‘Strangers To Love’ is probably the closest thing to a ballad that you will find on Love Kills!, and it's also probably one of my personal favorite hits. I believe everyone will somehow relate to this song, because it captures the essence of human experience at its core, and fits perfectly to the album's message: Love Kills…but it's never gonna die.”

Levels Announce New Album Out 4/10 + Share Video for Double Single "Fume" + "Death Dance"

Central Arkansas quartet LEVELS — Kolby Carignan [vocals], Jager Felice[guitar], Jacob Hubbard [bass], and Dalton Kennerly [drums] — are thrilled to announce the April 10 release of their new album This Will Make You Feel Again via SharpTone Records. Regarding "Fume," the band states, "The song explores the emotional weight of a relationship pushed to its limits by burnout, miscommunication, and constant internal struggle. Through vivid imagery, it captures the tension between a love that's inevitably turning cold and the desire to try and reignite it. It is a plea for connection, an honest reflection on trying to break through emotional distance and offer refuge before everything is burned."

As for "Death Dance," it's "about obsession — when one person becomes home, poison, and salvation all at once. It's that feeling where leaving seems impossible, but staying slowly kills you. It's caught between survival and surrender, and the song feeds from that space."

The band retains a singular focus with the album — and that's to elicit a visceral response.

"For us, the main priority is to make you feel something," affirms Carignan. "If you come to a LEVELS show or listen to a record, you should leave fully nourished. We don't create songs; we create experiences." 

Overall, This Will Make You Feel Again is more than an album or a statement; it's a call to action. LEVELS openly aim to provoke a physical and emotional response with their fluid and future-facing hybrid of metal, pop, drum 'n' bass, and dance music. "Fallen One" is an onslaught of groove riff's and thrash going back and forth competing with each other. Until finally, you hit the chorus that breathes big open church choir power vocals to fill a whole cathedral. Just when you think the song is going to stay calm, it builds into a heavy slam beat that you cannot help but head bang to. After things take a turn for the worst, you're met with fast double bass pounding in your chest until you can't handle anymore. After that, a solo rips your soul in half with speed and intensity. The solo climaxes at the end with a beautiful uplifting harmony that you will sing for days after you've only heard the song once. We go back into the chorus one last time to give a louder and powerful shout for the"Fallen One" and a brutal scream ends the song with fast intense double bass and an abrupt ending leaving you questioning what the hell

just happened.

Return to Dust Drop "Bored (Unplugged)" — WATCH // Touring With Yungblud This Spring

Buzzed-about rock band RETURN TO DUST — Matty Bielawski [guitar, vocals], Graham Stanush [bass, vocals], Sebastian Gonzalez [guitar], and London Hudson [drums] — continue to go from strength to strength with every passing day. The band just saw its latest single "BORED" land in the No. 2 slot at Active Rock Radio. Return to Dust were also nominated for iHeart Radio Music Awards Best New Artist (Rock).

Today, they share the video for the acoustic version of the song, which is just as impactful when stripped down as it is when fully plugged in. Return to Dust decided to record an acoustic version for one simple but critically important reason — fan demand!

Fight From Within were founded in Upstate New York in early 2021. Their sound lands at the intersection of metalcore, hardcore, and beatdown.
