Flatwounds Announce "Chain of Command" EP Out 3/20 + Share "Emulator" Video

Albany-based up and comers FLATWOUNDS — Colin O'Hare [vocals], Matt Degnan [guitar], David Granger [bass], and Wade Coonrad [drums] — are thrilled to announce their new EP Chain Of Command. It arrives March 20 via Blue Grape Music. Pre-order it here

Today, the band, which deftly combines a DNA-distinct blend of hardcore and '90s hard rock, shares the video for the new single "Emulator."

Comprised of live footage, the video will grab you by the scruff of your neck and toss your front and center at a Flatwounds gig. The energy is captured perfectly and is palpable!

Watch it Below.

"I've transitioned from talking about inner subjects to the exterior world," says O'Hare. "'Emulator' is about not being who you actually are. You're living life without any real meaning. There's no substance. Instead, you're the type of dude who works a job he doesn't like, drives a car he doesn't like, and complains about everything being awful. It's because he's not doing anything he loves."

Regarding the EP a a whole, O'Hare explains, "Chain of Command represents how we've evolved and matured as musicians. This is our sound. It's a little weird, dissonant, melodic, and heavy when it needs to be. The title works because most of the songs are about apathy and a lack of action. There's always a 'chain of command' in life, and it keeps you from doing what you want. It could be societal or in your head. You always have to answer to something, though."

What would a rock 'n' roll band sound like if it was born from a basement hardcore scene? Well, it might sound a bit like Flatwounds. The Albany, NY quartet could certainly send any floor into a frenzy, yet they also write hooks addictive enough to bring an arena to its feet. Forged by a cold indie underground and even colder East Coast winters, there’s chaotic intensity underneath their concrete infectiousness. The band transfixes with bold hooks and traumatize with jarring and jagged bursts of distortion. As the story goes, Colin had a show booked for December 2022 and needed a band. Knowing one another from around town, he tagged in Wade and Matt (who brought Dave into the fold). Not only did the guys play the aforementioned gig, but they wrote what would become the 2023 Raw EP. Off the latter, "Rust" and "Fade" generated hundreds of thousands of Spotify streams. Flatwounds picked up the momentum with the Down EP and Drain EP. At the top of 2025, "Drenched" surged on TikTok, amassed 171K Spotify streams, and caught the attention of Blue Grape Music and producer Brian Robbins [Beartooth, Pierce The Veil]. Early raise poured in from Revolver, Lambgoat, Idioteq, and more. Now, their signature style firmly takes shape on their 2026 EP Chain of Command [Blue Grape Music] with grit, grime, and gusto intact.

Mayhem Drop Video for "Realm of Endless Misery" — WATCH

Black metal's most influential and legacy-defining entity emerges once again with their seventh studio offering, Liturgy of Death.

With this release, Mayhem reaffirm why they remain one of the most relentless pillars of extreme music. After more than four decades shaping the genre's evolution, the band now turns its creative gaze toward the inescapable presence of mortality.

Liturgy of Death explores the philosophy of mortality with stark, uncompromising clarity. The album presents death not as an ending, but as a universal law that touches all life and exposes the fragility of human existence. This impermanence becomes a call to live with full intensity, for every gain and loss ultimately falls back into the same silence. Echoing ancient philosophies, the album portrays life as a transitional state and death as a gateway to a higher form of being, while the solemn, dark beauty of death permeates the entire work.

Stream "Realm of Endless Misery" HERE.

Attila comments on the new track, "'Realm of Endless Misery' is the fourth single from the new Mayhem album and presents a state of human existence in which suffering is not an exception but a governing principle. The song portrays human life as a closed realm sustained by repetition, fear, and manipulation, where time itself becomes a mental trap and hope slowly drains from consciousness. It does not tell a story and offers no redemption. Through its mantra-like structure and cold, oppressive imagery, the track confronts the listener with the mechanics of misery, revealing a world in which destruction is not an endpoint but a permanent condition. Released as the third single in advance of the whole album, 'Realm of Endless Misery' deepens its unified dark vision and brings the listener one step closer to the final revelation."

With Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila, Morten Bergeton Iversen, and Ghul locked into a unit tighter than ever, Liturgy of Death celebrates Mayhem's own legacy, a continuation of the raw and uncompromising sound that defined their beginnings. The result is a merciless record — dark, fast, and unrelenting — that captures the band in their most dangerous and vital form. 41 years since their formation in Langhus, Mayhem remain a defining force in Norwegian black metal, continuing to shape the sound they helped create.

Thrash Metal Outfit NUKEM Unleashes Music Video for Anthemic New Single, "Tactics of Terror"

California has always been fertile ground for thrash metal, leading the charge with some of the genre's most legendary acts. San Diego's NUKEM follows in the footsteps of thrash metal's founding fathers, producing the kind of time-tested, neck-breaking thrash that invokes deep nostalgia while still sounding fresh and modern.

The thrashers are now unleashing an anthemic new single, "Tactics of Terror," which can be found below.

Nukem Bassist Don Lauder comments,

"Tactics of Terror' starts with a heavy power groove that evolves into a monster of a song, with lyrics that punch you in the mouth just as hard as the music. And what’s hitting hard right now? The People vs The Government. Both sides fully believing that they’re the 'good guys;' both sides fully invested in the power struggle of the world. The best grooves that move you are the simple ones, so our music video puts you right there with us as we jam the hell out of this intense song for intense times."

The track is taken from the band's forthcoming sophomore full-length, 'The Grave Remains,' which is due on April 10, 2026 via Redefining Darkness. Pre-orders are now live in the U.S. HERE and the rest of the world HERE.

Nukem is a Thrash metal force from San Diego, California, that delivers an honest, old school thrash attack. Formed in 2012, Nukem released their 2016 debut album "The Unholy Trinity,' which was mixed & mastered by Ulrich Wild (Pantera, Static X, Dethklok, White Zombie) and was released via Sleaszy Rider Records out of Greece.

Nukem had entered the studio in 2024 once again with Ulrich Wild to work on our second album. Ten songs of pure molten metal! Some songs are full on unstoppable Bay Area style Thrash metal violence while others are more of a mid tempo power groove. Nukem has now forged a new union with Redefining Darkness for the release of their oncoming onslaught... stay tuned!

Midwinter Drop New Track "Champagne" and Official Music Video via Papercut Recordings

Emerging atmospheric metalcore quintet Midwinter have today unleashed their new single "Champagne" via their new label home, Papercut Recordings. The track captures the band's signature style, blending crushing heaviness and electronic dissonance with soaring vocals and moments of luminous clarity. Accompanying the release is the cinematic music video, which evokes the decadent spirit of the Roaring Twenties but emphasizes the song's theme of emotional divide when paired with the song. When asked about the inspiration and sound design of "Champagne", the band shared:

"'Champagne' is used as a metaphor to celebrate something that is actually hollow. It symbolizes escapism and temporary euphoria. At its core, the track explores abandonment and betrayal but are masked behind something generally associated with a celebration.

Sonically, we wanted to experiment with contrasting emotions. Similar to the lyrics, certain sections of the track emote feelings of beautiful nostalgia but soon give way to extreme and jarring textures. Blending these together creates a push-pull between optimistic reflection and the pain of loss."

Midwinter will also be on the road starting in April alongside Unprocessed and Allt, so be sure to get your tickets now at the link here. Stream "Champagne" here, watch the official music video below, and stay tuned for more Midwinter news coming this year.

ABOUT MIDWINTER

Midwinter carves beauty from chaos with their emotionally charged brand of progressive metalcore. Blending punishing thall-infused riffs, lush ambient layers, and introspective lyrics, the Cleveland, Ohio based five-piece explores themes of loss, identity, and healing. Their sound design is immersive and intentional—layered with glitchy textures, dissonant melodies, and experimental production techniques that push genre boundaries and elevate every emotional peak and breakdown.

Green Carnation Announce Part II of A Dark Poem

Green Carnation have never been afraid of a challenge. Just last year, the Norwegian captains of progressive metal finally set sail on an epic three-part voyage that had eluded them for more than thirty years. The Shores of Melancholia washed onto year-end lists at PROG, Loudwire, Angry Metal Guy and other major publications. Now, after reaching crushing new highs during its opening chapter, the band are descending into deeper, darker and more personal depths with Part II of A Dark Poem.

Today, Green Carnation are announcing A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis by premiering the stirring new music video for the first part of its booming and bloodstained title track with Metal Injection. “Sanguis” fights to stay afloat amidst familial wreckage with clear conviction and a flawless chorus. Though whether those traumas stay buried won’t be revealed until the album comes out, when fans can hear the full nine-minute version of this song in all its grand gloom and doom.

“We wanted A Dark Poem to start off with guns blazing”, Green Carnation vocalist Kjetil Nordhus says in reference to Part I. “But for Part II, we have some very personal stories that we want people to hear. Sanguis invites listeners into our darkest inner rooms with some of the most raw and vulnerable songs that we’ve ever written”.

A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis hold some of the most personal lyrics that I’ve ever written”, says Stein Roger Sordal, the band’s bassist and primary lyricist. “The lyrics are so personal that I had to go many rounds with myself over whether or not to tone them down. In the end, I chose to keep them as honest as possible”.

Part II introduces more peaks and valleys into the trilogy’s overarching narrative. But if A Dark Poem contains a silver lining, it’s in the creative partnership that’s helped Green Carnation endure for more than three decades. "It would be different if I had only known Stein Roger for two months, but I know everything that has happened in his life for the last 30 years”, Nordhus says when explaining how he gives voice to the words of his lifelong friend. “It’s easy for me to understand and relate to all of his struggles, all of his pleasures and joys, because I’ve been a part of them as well”.

The video for “Sanguis" (Blood Ties)” was directed and edited by Rikard Amodei.

A.A. WILLIAMS Unveils Haunting New Single "Wolves"

Acclaimed heavy artist A.A. WILLIAMS returns with "Wolves," a mesmerizing new single that delves into the liminal space where consciousness and subconsciousness intertwine. The track marks another powerful addition to her evocative body of work, showcasing her ability to transform abstract emotional landscapes into visceral sonic experiences.

"Wolves" is a meditation on emotional echo, on searching without resolution, and on how even the faintest memories can leave a permanent mark on the psyche. The song captures the sensation of moving through a haze, where meaning feels close but never fully defined, and where longing exists without a clear object. It speaks to the human tendency to chase feelings, moments, or versions of ourselves that exist just beyond reach.

"Wolves describes the blurred lines between dreams and reality," says A.A. WILLIAMS. "Ideas and emotions bleed across the boundary, their imprint faint but profound, a softly etched signature on your psyche. Hazy memories begin to fade, you force your feet to touch the ground, yearning for things that were never yours, hopelessly, endlessly searching for the unattainable."

“Wolves” lands as A.A. Williams continues her track across the UK and Europe. Tickets are available HERE. Both "Wolves" and the previously released single "Just A Shadow" will be available as a tour exclusive vinyl during this run.

About A.A. WILLIAMS:

Having made her debut live appearance at the prestigious Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands off the back of a self-titled EP, A.A. WILLIAMS has since toured across the globe with the likes of CULT OF LUNA, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, RUSSIAN CIRCLES, SLEEP TOKEN and THE SISTERS OF MERCY, as well as establishing herself as a headline artist - including a show at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Hall inside London’s Southbank Centre.

Standout festival appearances have dovetailed with two album releases - 2020’s Forever Blue and 2022’s As The Moon Rests, which both received widespread critical acclaim and put A.A. WILLIAMS firmly in the slipstream of the wave of female vocalists taking textured, epic and folk-rooted heavy music into new and progressive directions. A BBC session at the legendary Maida Vale Studios only bolstered WILLIAMS’ credentials.

Not one to rest on her laurels, she has also released a selection of ‘companion pieces’ - a collaborative single with Japanese post-rock titans MONO (“Exit In Darkness”); a solo covers collection recorded during 2020’s pandemic lockdown — Songs From Isolation — that garnered praise from THE CURE’s Robert Smith and SMASHING PUMPKINS' Billy Corgan for her unique take on their original songs; and perhaps most impressively, 2021’s arco saw the multi-instrumentalist completely rework her debut EP from rock instrumentation to a string ensemble, utilising her classical training and arrangement skills to stunning effect.

With new label partner Reigning Phoenix Music, 2026 will serve as a major milestone for A.A. WILLIAMS.

Exploring Birdsong Release Video for New Single "42"

Following back-to-back sold-out headline shows in London, alt-pop trio Exploring Birdsong step confidently into a new era with their striking new single "42."

Centered on Lynsey Ward's arresting vocals, the band unveil a richer, more expansive sound that marks a clear evolution from the organic rawness of their piano-led beginnings. "42" balances emotional depth with cinematic ambition, showcasing a maturity and sonic confidence that signals a bold new chapter for the group.

Speaking of the track, Ward shares, "'42' is a song about paranoia, conspiracy theories and confirmation bias — it is written from the perspective of someone who has lost touch with reality, seeing patterns in their day to day life that are leading them to some answer, or a warning — but never quite getting the full picture of what it could all mean. Thematically, the song was drawn from personal experience in childhood, where a few coincidences with numbers could spiral into a feeling of being 'followed' by a number or symbol, and like the storyline of the rest of your life was being written with this at the centre, or as a clue."

She expands, "Conspiracy theories are more rife than ever, especially after spreading like wildfire during the pandemic. We wanted to present this as a sympathetic look at how something so simple can go so wrong, and where that desperation can lead; a state of anxiety, isolation, and losing touch with the world around you. The great irony is that, to some degree, we have now become the people in the story. We each notice the number '42' so regularly now that we update one another every time it pops up somewhere unexpected."

Stream "42" HERE.

Watch the video Below:

Exploring Birdsong have announced a headline UK tour this September. Dates start in Glasgow on the 23rd before stopping off in London and Bristol before concluding in Manchester on the 26th.

Tickets and more info HERE.

Exploring Birdsong have evolved into one of the UK’s most compelling and unclassifiable modern bands. Following a bold shift in sound first signaled by the acclaimed 2024 singles "The Collapse," "Weight in Gold," "All I Lack," and "Stitch," the three-piece have expanded their sonic palette without sacrificing the emotional intimacy and genre-blurring beauty that defines them.

Fronted by the unmistakable voice of Lynsey Ward, alongside Jonny Knight (bass, keyboards) and Matt Harrison (drums), Exploring Birdsong craft a sound that seamlessly weaves vulnerability, heaviness, and intricate songwriting into something entirely their own. Their approach to modern heavy music feels both cinematic and deeply personal, balancing raw feeling with experimental ambition.

By 2025, the band's reputation had translated into undeniable momentum. Exploring Birdsong sold out two headline shows at London's iconic St Pancras Old Church in a matter of minutes, following on from two equally sold-out headline showcases in Manchester and London the year prior. These landmark performances cemented their status as a band whose live presence resonates just as powerfully as their recordings.

The trio have previously shared stages with Katatonia and Sleep Token, alongside main stage appearances at RADAR Festival and Euroblast, further showcasing their ability to connect across scenes and audiences. Straddling pop, progressive rock, and an uncategorizable spectrum of sound, Exploring Birdsong remain largely unplaceable. Touchstones can be found in the inventive edge of Everything Everything, the dramatic flair of Kate Bush, and the synth-driven intensity of Enter Shikari — yet the result is unmistakably, and uniquely, Exploring Birdsong.

EXPLORING BIRDSONG ARE:

Tombstones In Their Eyes drop dark jewel 'You Never Have to Love Me' from 'Under Dark Skies' LP (plus B-side)

LA psych-rock outfit Tombstones In Their Eyes present the single 'You Never Have to Love Me', occupying the uneasy space between collapse and clarity, tracing a moment where survival demands self-reckoning and the realization that repair begins from within. It is showcased by a superb layered and color-rich video by Francesca Bonci, who earlier created videos for the singles 'Under Dark Skies' and Alive and Well', dedicated to guitarist Paul Boutin, who recently lost his battle with cancer.

'You Never Have to Love Me' is lifted from the band's latest (and now acclaimed) album 'Under Dark Skies', released via Little Cloud Records (North America) and Shore Dive Records (UK and EU). Recorded and engineered by Paul Roessler (The Screamers, Nina Hagen, 45 Grave) at Kitten Robot Studios, which was co-produced by John Treanor and mastered by multi-platinum engineer Alex DeYoung at DeYoung Masters (Michael Jackson, BTS, Macy Gray, The Linda Lindas, TSOL).

What began a decade ago as two childhood friends (John Treanor in LA and James Cooper in NYC) swapping demos quickly grew into a full-fledged band. Today, Tombstones In Their Eyes is made up of John Treanor (vocals & guitar), Stephen Striegel (drums), Courtney Davies (vocals), Phil Cobb (guitar), Nic Nifoussi (bass) and Clea Cullen (vocals). Guitarist Paul Boutin remains a member of the band in spirit, having passed away in mid-October 2025.

"'You Never Have to Love Me' was written in September 2023 during a fertile period of writing. I was not doing well emotionally, and there was no intended meaning to the song as I wrote it. But as I look back on it now, this song seems to be about acknowledging my failures and attempting to find grace. The idea that “you never have to love me” is really about how I first need to love myself before I can attempt to make things right," says John Treanor.

"There are a lot of musicians on this track, with 3 guitar players, 6 people contributing vocals, 2 bass players and 1 drummer and 1 keyboard player. We split the bass parts as Joel was not longer going to be in the band and Nic was coming back in. I had them both do parts and we used some of each. Phil did an amazing outro guitar part that to me is a highlight of the song."

Complementing the A-side is another psychedelic gift in the B-side 'Everybody's Dead', which thrives on instinct rather than intention, letting subconscious fragments spill out in a way that is both sincere and surreal. It also marks a quiet origin point for the band, capturing the beginning of long-running creative partnerships that would go on to shape their sound for the next decade.

John Treanor explains, "We originally released this song on our 2016 'Bad Clouds' EP, which we didn't promote at all. I just let words come out of my mind impromptu while singing over the track, allowing things to seep out of the subconscious, sometimes real and sometimes nonsensical. This was the first record fully done at Kitten Robot Studio with Paul Roessler and the first time we worked with drummer Stephen Striegel, who is still in the band today. It was the start of 10 years of working with both of them."

'You Never Have to Love Me' is out now digitally, including Spotify, Apple Musicand Bandcamp, where the 'Under Dark Skies' album can also be found. The album is also available on vinyl via Little Cloud Records (North America) and Shore Dive Records (UK and the EU).

Sleep Theory combine energetic hard rock and metalcore, alongside the powerhouse vocalist Cullen Moore. Praised by Jelly Roll and David Draiman, they've toured with Shinedown, Falling In Reverse, and Beartooth. In under two years, they became the fifth most-played artist on Active Rock radio. Afterglow and the Paper Hearts EP merge heavy rock with pop and R&B, producing anthemic bangers and emotional ballads. Saluted by Revolver, Loudwire, and Amazon Music as an Artist to Watch in 2025, they've become one of heavy music's biggest breakouts. With Afterglow, the quartet proves ready to ascend to the next level. Sleep Theory deliver the dynamic, heavy bounce and massive vocal hooks that the rock world desperately needs. Moore is a powerhouse singer who outmatches nearly all his peers, recalling the most classic and timeless pop, R&B, and rock 'n' roll vocalists of the last several decades. Sleep Theory push themselves creatively at every turn, catapulting the genre to new sonic heights.

Eihwar Summon Norse Goddess on "Freya's Calling"

Hot off a year of electrifying performances at Wacken Open Air, Midgardsblot and dates with The Hu, Eihwar are back to pull the world deeper into their Viking War Trance with Hugrheim.

Today, the cult sensation are announcing the second advanced single from Hugrheim. Rooted in the fantastical, playful cosmology that defines the project, “Freya’s Calling” channels the raw, ecstatic force of the Norse goddess of love, battle, fate and ancient magic. Driven by shamanic drums, trance-inducing chants and pulsating rhythms, the song captures a moment of ritual abandon where music becomes invocation and movement becomes communion. Shoes optional, self-control strongly discouraged.

Watch the official video for “Freya’s Calling” below:

Hugrheim comes out March 13, 2026 on Season of Mist

Get ready for the wild electro Nordic folk of EIHWAR! These "Enfants Terribles" aren’t here for solemn atmospheres—their fierce and festive fantasy is made for raging Viking dancefloors. Backed by Season of Mist (home to Heilung and Danheim), Eihwar burst onto YouTube in 2023 and hasn’t slowed down since. With millions of views and festival appearances at Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, and Midgardsblot at the Midgard Viking Center in Norway, they bring a new wave of pagan power shaking across Europe.

This second album from Eihwar describes the world from which these two pagan superheroes originate. It is "Hugrheim," the 10th hidden world of Yggdrasil in Eihwar's fantasy mythology. The two musicians explain:

Over the past few years, our souls have gradually taken over the bodies of two human musicians. Through incarnation, we lost much of our memories. All that remains are images, emotions, and fragments from our previous existence, mixed in with the thoughts and memories of our human hosts. In this new song, we evoke the memories that gradually come back to us: memories of Hugrheim, the tenth world of Yggdrasil, hidden and unknown to men. This world is shaped by the Hugr, the spirit. In this realm dwell the invisible forces of the soul and consciousness. When our vessels perish here and our incarnation ends, we will return to Hugrheim. Still, we hope to remain here as long as possible this time, because nowadays the beer is fucking good, the rockstar life is pretty damn cool, and dental anesthesia actually exists.

NYC's Nevaris brings healing groove on ‘Remedy - Live’, previewing 'SoundSession' EP

Manhattan-based artist Nevaris shares 'Remedy - Live', the second offering from his forthcoming 'SoundSession' EP, blending ultimate groove and rhythm, jazzy saxophone, a slick bassline and addictive lap-guitar with cinematic soundscapism and turntablism. This is the sound that brilliant film soundtracks are made of.

'Remedy' arrives on the heels of the lead track 'Ninth Sun-Live', a fruitful and soulful extended improvisation that also brings in Afro-Latin, dub and funk elements. 'SoundSession' follows the path Nevaris set out on with his debut album 'Reverberations', releas ed in 2023 via M.O.D. Reloaded, earning praise from the one and only Carlos Santana as "a work of supreme creativity”.

'SoundSession' is the fourth collaboration between percussionist Agustín Nevaris, legendary bassist-producer Bill Laswell, and this particular lineup of musicians. The nine-piece ensemble involvd in this live studio recording includes DJ Logic, Jonathan Maron, Angel Rodriguez, Will Bernard, Peter Apfelbaum,  Jojo Kuo, Lockatron and Matt Dickey.

"The title 'Remedy' speaks to the power of music to bring healing to our bodies and minds, especially during troubled times like the present. The song was originally written by Bill Laswell and me, and Jonathan Maron does an amazing job of bringing the basslines to life in this version. We all need remedies in this world, and hopefully, the song will have a positive effect on those who hear it," says Agustín Nevaris.

Recorded live in a single session on May 30th, 2023, 'SoundSession' was captured in Laswell’s Orange Sound studio in West Orange, New Jersey. Originally planned as a virtual performance, the band scrapped that idea to instead focus on the simplicity of playing live with multiple cameras documenting the process. With no edits or overdubs to this recording, all instruments were captured synchronously in real time.

Recorded and mixed by James Dellatacoma and mastered by Michael Fossenkember at Turtletone Studios, this recording features interpretations of music previously written by Nevaris and Bill Laswell, including specific basslines that were written by Laswell, which bassist Jonathan Maron learned and performed when Bill was unable to participate in the recording for health reasons.

Agustín Nevaris is a percussionist, keyboardist, vocalist and composer, heavily influenced by Afro-Latin, dub, and funk music. From the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Nevaris also performs under the name Loud Apartment with an evolving lineup of musicians, most notably Bernie Worrell of P-Funk and Talking Heads. Of European and Mexican descent with multi-generational roots in NYC and LA, Nevaris is a visual and multimedia artist, with a vast array of creative projects across mediums. He also co-founded Nolej Records, Nolej Studios and the Uncomun Festival.

"SoundSession is about playing together live without being stressed by ticket sales or a venue accommodating so many musicians. Bill Laswell's studio in West Orange, New Jersey has always been an inspiring place with so much history. (It was built for Franki Valli originally.) The live room is something magnificent. We had never used it in a way that fully took advantage of it," says Nevaris.

"So this was a chance to do so, using the full space of this sizeable room. From the first notes, we could tell there was something good happening. And the recording documents it exactly as it was, with no overdubs or edits. Every note feels right from my perspective; exactly how it happened in real time."

Already in the works is a second studio album that features some truly exciting special guests, which will be released via Bill Laswell's label M.O.D. Reloaded later in 2026.

'Remedy - Live' is available via Bandcamp, where the 'SoundSession' EP can now be pre-ordered. On February 27, 'Soundsession' will be released digitally everywhere including Apple Music and Spotify.

Charlie Nieland & Joe McGinty (The Psychedelic Furs, Nada Surf) share 'Making of Today' video & original stop-motion video Nieland's acclaimed 'Stories From the Borderlines' album is out now

Renowned NYC songwriter-producer Charlie Nieland and the iconic Joe McGinty (The Psychedelic Furs, Nada Surf, Ryan Adams) present the 'Making of Today' video, a glimpse into their latest single 'Today', a hymn of loss and acceptance that finds its power in the absence of knowing and transmutation of personal darkness into a universal meditation on the beauty of the finite.

This behind-the-scenes video complements the video for 'Today', a beautiful Alex Dar-directed stop-motion interpretation that is devastating and yet hopeful. The new clip shows how Nieland and McGinty collaborated to create this song, including studio footage and Joe touring us through the instruments that he used on this track. These latest clips highlight the beautiful optimism and creativity that has gone into Nieland's newly released (and now acclaimed) album 'Stories From The Borderlines'.

"When you get a chance to work with keyboard whiz Joe McGinty, you take it. I knew Joe; I’d been singing in his long running NYC performance series "The Loser’s Lounge"and he was also a guest on my podcast "An Embarrassment Of Prog" in 2023. He is a deeply empathetic person and an accomplished player who always knows what to add to make an arrangement sing," says Charlie Nieland.

"When I was working on 'Today', I realized it needed something more than my keyboard parts, so I asked Joe to play on it and he enthusiastically said yes. Joe and I have a great time talking about our Prog Rock upbringings, so I asked him if he could create some layers that had the feel of the semi-obscure Jon Anderson/Vangelis song 'So Long Ago, So Clear'. Of course, he knew exactly what I was talking about. He fired up his vintage and new keyboards (he has quite a collection) and bathed the song in a unique glow that really elevated the feeling of hope and sadness."

Apart from vocals and guitar, Charlie Nieland contributes Mellotron violins and flute, e-bow guitar and bass. Joe McGinty plays multiple synths (Freeman String Symphonizer, Moog Muse, Oberheim Xpander, RMI Keyboard Computer, Sequential Pro 3, Therevox ET 5, Waldorf Iridium and Yamaha CP35), sharing “It was a bit of a tall order, but a good excuse to use some of my favorite keyboard instruments, vintage and new, for this arrangement. It was a delight to work on this song."

With sweeping melodies and restless rhythms, 'Stories From The Borderlines' is an act of imaginative resistance, passionately mining for light and truth in a darkening world. Named Artist of the Year by The Manc Review, this is one of his most profound albums, known for his work producing and writing for the likes of Debbie Harry, Rufus Wainwright, Blondie and Scissor Sisters.  Presenting a visceral blend of post punk, glam, dream pop and progressive rock, this immersive journey is a personal exploration of themes such as connection and severance.

Following the 2025 EP 'The Ocean Understands', Nieland shared the singles 'Win' feat. Staten Island rapper spiritchild and 'Shame' with a firecracker videoby NYC artists Hypnodoll and Alice Teeple, these cinematic and poignant songs also involving drummer Billy Loose and guitarist Dan McAssey.

Nieland's decades-long backstory as a writer, performer and producer is extensive. He was awarded a Gold record (UK) for his production work on Blondie's 'Greatest Hits Sight & Sound' and achieved a Top 10 Billboard Dance Chart Position with Debbie Harry's single 'Two Times Blue', which he co-wrote and produced. He scored the feature film 'The Safety of Objects' (with Glenn Close), Showtime's pilot episode of 'The L Word' and the VH-1documentary 'NY77: The Coolest Year in Hell'.

Nieland's debut solo album 'Ice Age' (2014) was followed by 'Hopeful Monsters' (2016) and ‘Divisions' (2021). After 20 years with Her Vanished Grace, he is half of the literature-inspired duo Lusterlit with Susan Hwang, and produces and co-hosts the podcast 'An Embarrassment of Prog'.

The 'Stories From The Borderlines' album is out now digitally, including via Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. Nieland performs next in New York City from February 19th to 21st at Joe's Pub for 'Loser's Lounge Presents REM Vs. The Replacements', and on April 12th at 503 Social Club (Hoboken, NJ), together with Renee Maskin and Karyn Kuhl.

Saint Agnes New Album "Your God Fearing Days Are About to Begin" Out 5/29

Frontperson, Kitty A. Austen's voice, vision and volatility shape every inch of the band's evolving world, and she is ably met by co-founding member Jon James Tufnell, together forming the creative axis of the band.

"'Song For Mia' is a tribute to my teenage best friend and our early teenage years — a tribute to the innocence of adolescence," says Austen. "We would spend our nights at each other's houses, hanging out, doing nothing with nowhere to go. We would often lay out on a trampoline in the garden, staring at the stars and dreaming about our futures. I was always looking forward, eager to accelerate my life and speed through those awkward years. I realize now that was the very best time of our lives — we were free and glowing with promise. 'Song For Mia' is sweet nostalgia set to a pulsing beat."

Listen to "Song For Mia" HERE.

Watch the video below.

NEW ALBUM YOUR GOD FEARING DAYS ARE ABOUT TO BEGIN OUT MAY 29 — PRE-ORDER

Fusing raw industrial power, dark elegance and hedonistic, body-moving intensity, Saint Agnes have created a sound made for sweat-soaked goth club dance floors. Inspired by the intensity of Nine Inch Nails, the genre-bending chaos of Poppy, and the euphoric, cinematic story telling of Lorde, this is music for the club, the stage and the void inside.

Self-confessed "control freaks," Saint Agnes obsessively curate all aspects of their art and their music; this time, however, they utilized the mixing skills of Jim Pinder (Sleep Token, BMTH), the result being "our best sounding record to date, and the truest to our vision," per Austen.

The record's first single, "The Father, The Son and The Holy Beast," can be heard HERE. A genre-defying meditation on falling out of love — the bittersweet undoing of devotion. Check out the music video HERE.

ABOUT SAINT AGNES:
Saint Agnes have built a loyal following off the back of two EPs, two critically acclaimed studio albums, and over 12 million Spotify streams. With strong support from BBC Radio 1 and explosive mainstage sets at Download, 2000trees, and Hellfest, as well as appearances at Rock for People, IOW Festival, Great Escape, Boomtown, Takedown and Reeperbahn Festival, the band has proven its power live, including at sold-out, riotous headline shows around the UK.

SAINT AGNES ARE:
Kitty A. Austen — Vocals, Guitar
Jon James Tufnell — Vocals, Guitar, Synths, Programming
Andrew Head — Drums

Varials Share "The Hurt Chamber" Video

Philadelphia's VARIALS  Skyler Conder, vocals; Shane Lyons, guitar; Mike Foley, bass; Sean Rauchut, drums — re-entered the chat in a massively metallic way in 2025 by announcing their new album WHERE THE LIGHT LEAVES. The album will arrive on February 27 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it here.

They share the video for new single "The Hurt Chamber."

Watch it Below.

The song moves at a measured and deliberate pace, and it's one of the most melodic songs in the band's catalog. With this track, Varials, known for erecting impenetrable walls of sound and for trafficking in pure metallic fury, prove that heavier-than-granite music doesn't always have to mean fast. Heavy can also be slow and steady — and memorable. The beautifully eerie, keys-driven fade out could serve as the background music in the creepiest scene in your favorite psychological thriller.

"'The Hurt Chamber' is a song strictly about being addicted to a high that is inevitably difficult to break," says Conder. "Whether that be love, drugs, or a certain type of situation, you become blind to what's happening, all of the bad disappears because it always feels amazing. But it's doing nothing but harming you throughout every time you become close to it. The ache becomes a salvation of sorts. You enter the hurt chamber and you never want to leave."

Fun fact about the track — Conder cut his vocals in one take and on his first try. That's a rarity but the immediacy is felt in the song. And it just...worked. The band recalls, "We debated amongst ourselves on trying different ideas and melodies and adding/changing small things, but ultimately decided the original take was too good and shouldn't be messed with."

Sometimes it's best to leave things are they are.

Varials will hit the road on a headline tour this March, with Unity TX, Heavy // Hitter, and Boltcutter. All dates are below.

VARIALS ON TOUR:

3/12 — Detroit, MI — The Shelter
3/13 — Lakewood, OH — The Winchester Music Tavern

ABOUT VARIALS:
Varials deliver hardcore ferocity, monstrous breakdowns, and nu-metal groove with an adventurous atmosphere and unapologetic purpose. Born in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, Varials embody East Coast attitude and determination, pouring every ounce of struggle into their songs. Their fourth album, Where the Light Leaves, arrives with explosive energy and focus. Varials first established their place in the modern heavy landscape with Pain Again (2017) and In Darkness (2019). Tracks like "Romance," "Empire of Dirt," and "Anything to Numb" became anthems, blending metalcore strength with raw honesty that deeply resonated with audiences. Scars for You to Remember (2022) expanded that vision, further cementing their reputation as one of the most emotionally intense acts of the modern era. Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Dayseeker, The Plot In You), Where the Light Leaves signifies a new chapter. An often chaotic and experimental process—creating dozens of demos—resulted in 13 songs that capture Varials at their most powerful and creatively ambitious. The performances are deliberately raw, embracing imperfections to forge an immediate, human connection. Guttural heaviness paired with new melodic textures delivers a sound that is both punishing and expansive. As demonstrated on tours with Knocked Loose, Wage War, and Kublai Khan TX, among others, Varials are a fierce and formidable live band, and that energy is reflected in Where The Light Leaves.

Filth Return With New Single "Outta Pocket" + "Welcome to Shell Town" Out 3/6

Rising North Carolina heavy hitters FILTH are ushering in their most volatile chapter yet. The band is releasing their brand new single "Outta Pocket" , alongside the official pre-save launch for their upcoming EP, Welcome to Shell Town, due out March 6.

The EP's title is a nod to the band's hometown. explains guitarist David Gantt, who says, "Shell Town is us leaning deeper into what shaped us, the music, the environment, and the mindset that came out of growing up in Shelby. This EP is a reflection of where we're from and why Filth sounds the way it does."

New single "Outta Pocket" picks up right where Southern Hostility left off — pure hostility, zero restraint, and built for maximum impact in the pit. The track serves as the opening salvo for Welcome to Shell Town, an EP that promises to be FILTH's most focused, violent, and confident release to date.

To mark the new era, FILTH will also kick off their headline "Beasts Of The East" tour, bringing their chaos directly to fans with support from Blackwater Drowning, Autumn Lies Buried, Comawaves, and Jawjacked

Expect no-frills brutality, packed rooms, and the kind of shows that leave venues shaken long after the lights come up.

If you like your deathcore filthy, groove-laden, and unapologetically hostile, then pre-save Welcome to Shell Town now.
