KING ULTRAMEGA (Ft Richie Kotzen , Charlie Benante) Unveils New Single "Say Hello 2 Heaven", In Memory Of Chris Cornell

Alternative rock collective KING ULTRAMEGA, featuring members of ALICE IN CHAINS, ANTHRAX, MASTODON, and SOUNDGARDEN, have unveiled an emotional new rendition of the TEMPLE OF THE DOG classic, "Say Hello 2 Heaven", featuring Richie Kotzen on vocals and guitar. KING ULTRAMEGA crafted this single in loving memory of legendary vocalist Chris Cornell, while raising funds and awareness for MusiCares. MusiCares is the Recording Academy’s nonprofit that provides mental health, addiction recovery, and emergency services to those in the music community.

Originally written by Chris Cornell as a tribute to MOTHER LOVE BONE vocalist Andrew Wood, KING ULTRAMEGA members Richie Kotzen, Charlie Benante, and Mark Menghi have now reinterpreted "Say Hello 2 Heaven" in memory of Chris Cornell. Richie Kotzen lends his soulful, expressive vocal delivery to the reimagined version of the song, imbuing it with deep personal meaning. Kotzen's performance puts emotional expression over technical preparation, resulting in an honest and moving take on the music.

"I lost my sister to suicide in 2022, and that kind of loss changes how you experience certain songs," Kotzen comments. "It's not something I set out to bring into the session, but it showed up. That's when it stopped feeling like just a tribute and became something more personal."

Bassist and mastermind Mark Menghi knew that "Say Hello 2 Heaven" would become an integral piece of KING ULTRAMEGA from the start, due to its lyrical message. Menghi chose to keep the song's arrangement and structure almost identical to the original, but the band took some creative liberties in lending R&B/soul-inspired stylings to the music.

Menghi comments, "The lyrical message in 'Say Hello 2 Heaven' strikes a chord when you think back on how Chris wrote about Andrew's untimely passing, and here we are over 30 years later paying tribute to Chris with his song about his untimely passing. It's an emotional rollercoaster to say the least."

ANTHRAX Drummer Charlie Benante immediately agreed to play on "Say Hello 2 Heaven" due to his personal connection with the song. As a longtime fan of MOTHER LOVE BONE, Benante considers "Say Hello 2 Heaven" to be one of his all-time favorite songs.

About KING ULTRAMEGA:

KING ULTRAMEGA is a passion-driven musical project honoring the life, voice, and genius of Chris Cornell, one of the most gifted artists of our time. It launches in conjunction with SOUNDGARDEN’s long-overdue induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This project did not begin with a single, dramatic moment. Instead, it grew quietly and gradually, an organic result of years of conversations, inspiration, and deep reverence for a musician whose impact remains immeasurable.

"There is not a singular moment in time that led to this project," says bassist and producer Mark Menghi, the driving force behind KING ULTRAMEGA. "It was a trail of events that led to the formation of KING ULTRAMEGA and the evolving creation to pay tribute to the voice of a generation."

It started in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, when Menghi recorded a version of "Rusty Cage" with friends. What began as a creative release soon became something larger. With every step forward, the project deepened in meaning and purpose. "I kept crossing the mental roadblock of 'you are entering uncharted waters, are you sure you wanna do this?'" Menghi reflects. "Chris is one of those dudes if you cover, you better do it justice."

The decision to continue became clear when SOUNDGARDEN guitarist Kim Thayil joined the project and re-recorded one of his own iconic tracks. "Once Kim got involved and re-recorded one of his own songs, I knew something was brewing,"Menghi says.

Thayil embraced the project wholeheartedly. "I’m super honored to record alongside all the amazing musicians appearing on the KING ULTRAMEGA project," he says. "I’m equally proud that it celebrates SOUNDGARDEN in this tribute to the songwriting of Chris. Ultra-admirably, everyone’s participation is supporting the work of the MusiCares Foundation. Thank you Mark Menghi, Charlie Benante and Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM)."

For Menghi, this project is as personal as it is musical. "I went through some very difficult times in my life. I should not be here right now, but I am," he shares. "I like to think my past trials and tribulations helped me understand Chris just a little, hence the formation of KING ULTRAMEGA."

Song selection was guided by instinct. "My mood. It's really that simple," Menghi explains. "'Rusty Cage' was recorded simply because it's one of my favorite songs featured on one of my favorite records." Other songs came to Menghi during moments of reflection and inspiration. "There is a bunch more in the can right now, all with drums fully recorded, which are currently being worked out for future releases."

The goal was never to reinvent Cornell’s work. It was about honoring it with the respect it deserves. "It really is only about honoring the legacy of Chris Cornell. Nothing more," Menghi says. Each musician brought their own voice, but always in service to the song and to Cornell’s memory.

"Each musician has their own individual musical stamp," Menghi explains. "You hear the absolute best of each one of them. You are talking about musicians who helped invent and shape musical genres and helped define their generations in popular culture, not just music, but society as a whole."

The cast of collaborators is remarkable. Kim Thayil, Charlie Benante, Joe Satriani, William DuVall, Bill Kelliher, Alissa White-Gluz, Kenny Aronoff, Menghi himself, among many others. The mix of past friendships and new connections created a unique bond among them. "I think back and go 'did I really ask Joe Satriani to do an instrumental reinterpretation of one of the greatest modern vocal songs ever recorded?' or 'what the fuck was I thinking asking the great Kim Thayil to re-record one of his own classic Soundgarden songs?'" Menghi laughs. Yet, no egos entered the room. "Each participating musician saw the vision and understood that this is about honoring the legacy of not only an inspiring musician, but an amazing husband, father and man."

For Menghi, Cornell’s music has always been a constant presence. "Chris Cornell has been one of only a very small handful of musical constants in my life," he says. "I never waivered, not once."

Certain moments in the process were surreal. Recording with Thayil was one of them. "I remember thinking back saying to myself 'holy fuck, I’m on a SOUNDGARDEN song with Kim Thayil. What planet are we on?'"

Throughout it all, Menghi served as the project’s creative director, always guided by one central question. "How would Chris like this?" Every choice, from guest musicians to mixes to artwork, was measured against that standard. "If there is even a shred of uncertainty at any point in the process, back to the drawing board we go."

The recordings were completed remotely over several years. The final tracks were mixed with care to ensure a cohesive sound that still captured the raw emotion of the performances.

Hope is the underlying theme that runs through KING ULTRAMEGA. It is an offering to longtime fans and an invitation for younger listeners to discover the timeless brilliance of Cornell’s work. "KU is just a blip in the Chris Cornell universe,"Menghi says. "We are a subtle reminder that Chris was a true musical genius."

For Menghi and his collaborators, KING ULTRAMEGA is both a deeply personal labor of love and one of the greatest honors of their musical lives. "To be here thirty-plus years later paying tribute to whom I believe was the king of those times is one of the greatest musical honors of my life."

Out Now From ALL HELL - Sunsetter

ALL HELL returns from the shadows with their fifth full-length album, Sunsetter, arriving on Terminus Hate City. From their origins in Asheville, North Carolina in 2013, the band has carved a singular path through the underground, blending elements of first wave black metal, deathrock, punk, and film score atmospheres into something entirely their own. Sunsetter is the culmination of years of evolution and hardship, a concept record that stretches from ancient myth to modern apocalypse, driven by fire, blood, and vision.

The band (Jacob Curwen on guitar and vocals, Erik Ballantyne on bass, and Elanti on drums) began work on Sunsetter after the release of 2019’s The Witch’s Grail. Progress was slow and plagued by constant disruption. The pandemic struck, personal tragedies followed, and devastating floods hit their home region. In the midst of all this, the band found themselves burned out and disillusioned with metal entirely. But after stepping back and rediscovering their creative hunger, they emerged with a record that is not only their most metal release to date, but also their most fully realized.

Sunsetter tells a sprawling, violent tale of exile, rebirth, and cosmic vengeance. The story begins in ancient times with the curse of Cain, the first murderer, cast into the land of Nod where he joins with Lilith, the exiled first wife of Adam. From their union comes a cursed bloodline. The album’s opening track, “Exiled into Nod,” skips any slow buildup and immediately drops the listener into the chaos of this mythic prayer. It is followed by “Dominus Sanguis, Domina Nox,” a dark hymn to the Lord of Blood and the Lady of Night, and then “The Violent Brood,” a classic ALL HELL track that portrays the frenzy of being hunted by Cain's spawn.

“The Bleeding” flips the perspective and explores the mind of a predator, with a guest solo from Nate Garnette of SKELETONWITCH adding another layer of menace. The title track, “Sunsetter,” takes a more triumphant tone, capturing the defiance and pride of the children of Cain as they reject the sun and claim dominion over the night. Its straightforward power made it the obvious choice for the album’s name.

Side two of the album begins with “The Flood and the Death,” a cinematic, spoken-word interlude that sets the stage for a shift in time. The next chapter takes place centuries later, where the bloodline of Cain has survived the flood and reemerges in the present. “Behold the Night” brings this rebirth to life with driving energy and shifting dynamics. “Path of Cain” offers a darkly anthemic reflection on lineage, sin, and survival.

The final act of the album accelerates toward doom. “Sacrifice to Shadow” portrays a cult's plea for the return of their ancient masters, while “The Ancients Rise” delivers on that prophecy with grinding riffs and ominous brass that call back to the album’s ancient beginnings. The closing track, “The Outer Night,” brings it all to an end. It begins with militaristic urgency, climbs to apocalyptic grandeur, and fades into the cold silence of a world overrun. Cain and Lilith return, and the sun sets for the last time.

The album was recorded, mixed, and engineered by Chris Adams at Hidden Audio, with mastering by Jacob Curwen. The visual aesthetic, including the album art, was also created by Curwen, preserving the band’s independent and uncompromising approach.

The sun fades. The night takes hold. The world belongs to ALL HELL.

About ALL HELL:

ALL HELL is a blackened metal trio from Asheville, North Carolina, known for their relentless fusion of first wave black metal, deathrock, punk, and horror-driven storytelling. Since forming in 2013, the band has carved out a distinct identity rooted in occult themes, razor-sharp riffs, and a fierce DIY ethos. Their sound is aggressive, stripped-down, and deeply atmospheric — a raw, unfiltered descent into myth, violence, and the supernatural.

With five full-length albums and an EP to their name, including 2025’s apocalyptic concept record Sunsetter, ALL HELL has evolved from a local cult favorite into a powerful underground force. Their live presence has taken them across the U.S., sharing stages with acts like RINGWORM, BLACK TUSK, PROFANATICA, and TURN COLD, and performing at festivals such as Decibel Metal and Beer Fest, Dark Lord Day, and RPM Fest.

The current lineup, Jacob Curwen (guitar and vocals), Erik Ballantyne (bass), and Elanti (drums), continues to push the band’s sound forward while staying true to its core. With each release, ALL HELL digs deeper into a unique mythos that spans history, horror, and apocalypse, embracing the dark, the ugly, and the eternal night.

ALL HELL is:

  • Jacob Curwen – Guitar and Vocals

  • Erik Ballantyne – Bass

  • Elanti – Drums

Built on jagged guitars and a storm of emotion, “Sharp Tongue” tells the story of a woman grappling with power she no longer understands. It captures a descent into inner chaos, where the threat isn’t the world outside, but the strength within.

Jenna Paulette Enlists Jake Worthington for Duet of “Chasin’ Whiskey”

Leo33’s rising country artist Jenna Paulette teams with Jake Worthington on a new duet version of the track “Chasin’ Whiskey,” uncorking a barstool ballad with a lonesome badlands sway.

Out today and written by Joe Fox and Tony Lane, the tune was originally released as a solo track on Paulette’s 2024 sophomore album, Horsebackand now finds a broken-hearted pair drowning their sorrows, after love rode off into the sunset for good.

Choosing Worthington as her duet partner was an easy choice for Paulette, who explained their connection, sharing, “Jake and I have been friends for a while, his wife Sophie and I had our babies a few weeks apart and we both hail from Texas with strong ties to Oklahoma. Outside of that, he’s just hard not to love. He has one of the most iconic voices of our generation and I’m just so thankful that he hopped on this song with me. It feels like it should’ve always been this way.”

“I’m honored to be on this song with my friend Jenna,” Worthington adds. “I think she’s stand up, 10 out of 10, one of one. I think this song’s great, it’s got a great story, we’ve all been there, and I’m proud to sing it with her.”

Featuring a dark-neon vibe built on aching Western fiddle and woozy steel guitar, Paulette’s pristine twang joins Worthington’s barrel-chested baritone, as the new-age country traditionalists come to the same, unfortunate conclusion: You can’t fence in a wild heart.

“Chasin’ Whiskey” (feat. Jake Worthington) follows the September release of Paulette’s easy-rolling “Steady,” which the lifelong cowgirl co-wrote with Will Bundy and Rhett Akins. All about the romantic bliss of a trusty, dependable partner, the tune marks a preview of Paulette’s upcoming 2026 recording project.

Meanwhile, the Texas native likewise teamed with hitmaker Ashley McBryde on a new duet version of “The Prophet (Grandaddy’s Song),” which was also featured on Horseback as a solo ballad.

In other news, the new mom recently welcomed the fall line of her CowboyGirl range-wear collection, in partnership with Ely Cattleman. Arriving one year after her women’s fashion brand launched, it features fresh seasonal details – including new autumn-oriented colors, a seasonal plaid and an expansion of the line to include the Little CowboyGirl collection (designed with the same fabrics in a “mommy down” style for mothers and daughters to wear together).

About Jenna Paulette:
A CMT Next Women of Country honoree and an Apple Music’s Country Riser, singer-songwriter Jenna Paulette – a cowgirl who came of age amid the gritty realities of ranch life – is part of Nashville’s growing wave of female artists who are rewriting the rules and charting their own paths. Paulette settled in Nashville in 2015, where she struck up a mentorship with Ashley Gorley – a veteran songwriter with 80+ No. 1 tunes under his belt – which ultimately led to her publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music in June 2021. Since collaborating with songwriters Will Bundy, Rhett Akins, and Jessie Jo Dillion, as well as opening for Mason Ramsey, Parmalee, John Michael Montgomery, Clay Walker, and most recently Aaron Watson, Paulette has landed brand partnerships with Justin Boots, Boot Barn, Ely Cattleman, and Ranch Water.

With the arrival of her debut album The Girl I Was in 2023, Grammy.com remarked the project as “transformative,” noting it “fuses the sounds of [Shania] Twain and Miranda Lambert, tackling mental health with the somber ‘You Ain’t No Cowboy’ and waxing philosophical on ‘Country In The Girl.’” She continued to spotlight her authentic Western lifestyle last year, performing the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo, making her Grand Ole Opry debut and performing at multiple festivals, including CMA Fest. Paulette recently signed with independent label Leo33. Paulette’s sophomore album, Horseback, is available everywhere now. For more information, visit www.jennapaulette.com.

About Jake Worthington:
For Big Loud Texas traditionalist Jake Worthington, country music is in his DNA. The La Porte, Texas native was raised on his grandfather's porch performances of Ray Price, Merle Haggard and George Jones, and soon picked up his own Gibson acoustic to realize the breadth of his soon-to-be-classic, wide, and wild voice. Now, Worthington breathes fresh life into dance halls, beer joints, and ballrooms from Texas to Tennessee with his growing catalog – his sophomore album When I Write The Song is out now with Miranda Lambert collaboration “Hello Shitty Day,” “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart),” viral “It Ain’t The Whiskey” and more. Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, the singer-songwriter hits the road this fall joining Zach Top as direct support on all dates of the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour followed by supporting slots on Jon Pardi’s Honkytonk Hollywood Tour. “I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” Worthington declares, and “blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”

PLATINUM RECORDING ARTIST ATLUS RELEASES SECONDHAND SMOKE EP

Platinum recording artist Atlus releases his BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville debut EP, Secondhand Smoke, today. The six-song collection marks the next chapter for the viral hitmaker whose career has grown from underground phenom to a billion-plus on-demand streams, four independent studio albums, a Platinum single, national touring, and millions of fans across social platforms.

“The songs on Secondhand Smoke are more than just individual tracks; they are chapters from my life,” says Atlus. ”Each one tells a story that I’ve lived through and it’s my hope that they push somebody out there to keep fighting, dreaming, and that there is something in one of those chapters that helps them keep showing up.”

Pulling back the curtain on his past to forge a new path forward, Secondhand Smoke sees Atlus writing on each track, confronting deeply personal themes, from a turbulent home life and his mother’s resilience, to his sister’s battle with addiction and his own journey with mental health. Listen to Secondhand Smoke Below.

His mother remains his biggest supporter, and much of the Secondhand Smoke EP pays tribute to her and hardworking women like her. The title track recalls how she never let circumstances define her, working long hours to make trailer and car payments, with cigarettes providing her one small comfort.

“I didn’t care about secondhand smoke because I saw what she was going through. It was like therapy, and the glue that kept her held together.” Even listeners who have not had the same experience can relate to a parent leaning on something to make it through.

“Baby Momma” continues that homage. The song flips its title into a triple entendre, a nod to the rap wordplay that shaped his style alongside country, pop, and rock. It even features a voice note from his mom singing a melody his grandfather wrote about him. “It’s a song my grandpa used to sing to me. My new music is really a tribute to them.”

Family has always been his priority. His success has allowed him to retire his mom, but before music took off, the now 33-year-old juggled two truck-driving jobs, UPS shifts, and Uber rides to cover studio time. He wrote his first two albums behind the wheel, practicing vocals and uploading a new track or video to YouTube each week.

His debut radio single, “Devil Ain’t Done,” impacts country radio this Monday, October 13.  An instant fan favorite, infectious grooves and melodies highlight the former truck driver's lyrics in “Devil Ain’t Done” as it reflects themes of self-doubt & perseverance. Grappling with relatable struggles that so many empathize with, this track expands on the singer-songwriter’s mission to make music that is both universal and uniquely him. Listen HERE / Watch Video HERE

Atlus marked the release of Secondhand Smoke with a special Nashville preview performance at Cannery Hall last night to a capacity crowd.

About Atlus:

Raised in a single-parent home marked by poverty and addiction, Atlus had to grow up fast, building resilience and a lifelong commitment to authenticity in his music. Phonetically named after the mythological Titan who held up the heavens, he began writing while working long hours as a commercial truck driver, crafting lyrics and melodies behind the wheel to help support his family and fund studio time.

That pavement-pounding grind became both his classroom and his engine, fueling the rise of a loyal underground following. Breakthrough moments soon followed, including performing alongside Jelly Roll at a packed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in his home state and landing a Top 5 album on Spotify’s Global Album Chart. With over a billion on-demand streams, millions of followers across socials, and a Platinum single to his name, Atlus continues to turn personal stories into universal anthems. Now signed to BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, his most revealing project yet, Secondhand Smoke, is out now (October 10).

Messiness brings slick psychedelic 'Eternity Unbound', final single ahead of debut album

Psychedelic indie-rock outfit Messiness presents 'Eternity Unbound', an intense explosion of sound and the final single ahead of their highly anticipated debut album 'Messiness', slated for release on November 21 via Tarla Records and StoneFree Records.

Clocking in under four minutes, the music constantly shifts beneath the listener's feet, utilizing unconventional time signatures to create a dizzying, unstable rhythm. Masterfully fusing numerous genres and melodic scales in this trippy sonic journey, the lyrics explore a shattered sense of self, wrestling the feeling of being adrift as time relentlessly takes its toll on one's sense of who they are. This brief, thrilling psychedelic experience is both feverish and impossible to predict.

Messiness is the compelling culmination of Max Raffa's diverse artistic and academic pursuits. This Sicilian polymath – singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, author, and sociologist – forged his unique sound across Europe. Having performed in rock 'n' roll bands across Europe and in bustling British port cities, his ethnographic research also profoundly influenced his musical outlook. His journey eventually led him to settle in the stark fringes of Milan, deep in the less glamorous parts of Italy's fashion hub.

Raffa is joined by Rosario Lo Monaco on guitars, Filippo La Marca on keyboards, Giovanni Calella on bass guitar, and Luca Anello on drums. With an inviting and energetic sound, Messiness masterfully weaves art poppsychedelia, and space rock into a distinctive and compelling rock style. Their rich harmonies are a vibrant tapestry, drawing from the finest traditions of British rock and continental flair, resulting in music that is both accessible and exhilaratingly vibrant.

"'Eternity Unbound' packs three and a half minutes with psychedelic fire. Verses in 5/4, choruses in 4/4, and a solo in 3/4 twist rhythm into constantly shifting patterns, keeping the ground in motion. This track fuses the jazzy edge of the Canterbury scene with Eastern Mediterranean tonalities, summoning the shadowy heat of West Coast mystique in a sun-scorched swirl of ritual, menace, and sensual incantation.," says Max Raffa.

"These lyrics wrestle with alienation, fractured identity, and the relentlessness of time, turning abstraction into something visceral. The result is a pocket-sized trip: feverish, disorienting, and impossible to pin down."

This single arrives on the trail of three stunning singles - 'Fatally', a Britpop-hued track that delves into the harrowing reality of substance dependency; 'Feature With a Rapper', a biting critique of the music industry and creative legitimacy in the digital age; and the head-turning debut single 'Previous Life'.

As of October 10, 'Eternity Unbound' is available from fine online music platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music and, as well as directly from the artist via Bandcamp.

ØVI Unleashes “Lilith,” the Venomous Opening Track from Upcoming EP Hedera Helix

ØVI returns with “Lilith,” the searing first single from their forthcoming 2026 EP, Hedera Helix. A venomous ode to entanglement and emotional toxicity, “Lilith” sets the tone for an uncompromising and cathartic body of work.

Serving as the opening chapter of the EP, “Lilith” captures the seductive yet suffocating presence of manipulative forces and is a reflection on those who exploit vulnerability under the guise of intimacy. ØVI draws on the haunting image of poison ivy to illustrate how these figures creep in, beautiful yet parasitic, until they are finally confronted and cut away. It’s a track where attraction collides with revulsion, and clarity rises from the ashes of rage.

Driven by razor-sharp lyricism and a visceral soundscape, “Lilith” pulses with fury honed into focus, anger transformed into power. The track is accompanied by a cinematic music video that further delves into its themes of entrapment, temptation, and liberation, mirroring the song’s spiraling tension and eventual rupture.

“Lilith” also features prominently in the upcoming independent film The Roughneck, adding yet another layer of depth and resonance to the track’s uncompromising energy.

Named after the ivy plant known for its relentless spread and permanence, Hedera Helix is ØVI’s boldest work to date. Across four tracks, the EP explores toxic relationships, parasitic dynamics, and the reclamation of self. Each song vines outward with unchecked intensity, echoing the ivy’s invasive sprawl, not to destroy, but to mark, to grow, and to survive.

Rather than wallow in despair, Hedera Helix transforms pain into propulsion. It’s a soundtrack of confrontation, of breaking cycles, and of embracing rage as a form of renewal. ØVI’s message is clear: vulnerability is not weakness, and survival is not silence.

TESTAMENT | PARA BELLUM OUT NOW + RELEASE ANIMATED VIDEO FOR THE SINGLE, 'HIGH NOON'

Bay Area thrash metal icons TESTAMENT return with their fourteenth studio album, Para Bellum, which is out today via Nuclear Blast Records. The album stands as both a battle cry and an observation of humanity's uneasy alliance with its own creations. As technology accelerates and disconnection grows, Para Bellum sees TESTAMENT reflecting the modern chaos through music that’s urgent, sharp, and unflinchingly human.

Testament's newest single, 'High Noon,' is a Wild West adventure set to music, evoking images of duels and gunslingers. The song offers a nod to the band's acclaimed The Gathering period, yet successfully incorporating fresh, contemporary elements, demonstrating the band's forward momentum. Watch the animated video for 'High Noon' created by Freakshot Films, below.

Chuck Billycomments, "We are so fired up about the release ofPara Bellum. There were a lot of hours spent putting this together. These new songs put me out of my comfort zone as a vocalist but the final result I am very proud of what I accomplished. See you in the pit.🤘🏼."

Order Para Bellum on the format of your choice here:
https://testament.bfan.link/para-bellum

Para Bellum was recorded with Juan Urteaga, mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and was mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios. The album is extremely polished and operating at full throttle. The band once again enlisted Eliran Kantor tocreate the album artwork. In an era flooded by AI-generated imagery. the hand painted creation encapsulates the album’s essence: a serene angel made of missiles, an explosion turned halo, surrounded by shovel-bearing cultists with books strapped to their faces.

From first note to last breath, Para Bellum is an album by warriors—crafted in chaos, and built to outlast the wars to come!

Shields Announce "Death & Connection" Album + Share "Wolfskin"(Feat. Taylor Barber) Video

BRITISH METALCORE ACT SHIELDS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM DEATH & CONNECTION OUT JANUARY 30 — PRE-ORDER

SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "WOLFSKIN" (FEAT. TAYLOR BARBER OF LEFT TO SUFFER) OUT NOW!

Shields are a band whose resilience stands as a testament to their ability to persevere through some of life's most difficult experiences.

Acclaimed British metalcore band Shields have announced their new studio album, Death & Connection, set for release on January 30 via Long Branch Records

"Death & Connection is a body of work born from the absence of the people who no longer hold space in our lives," comments Shields. "This record was created from a necessity to express and soothe our deepest losses. However, that was never the intention. We simply set out to make an album we wanted to hear."

In conjunction with today's album announcement, Shields have released the video for new single "Wolfskin." The song features guest vocals from Left To Suffer's Taylor Barber.

PRE-ORDER "DEATH & CONNECTION"

Founded in 2012 by primary songwriters Joe Edwards (vocals) and Samuel Kubrick Finney (guitar/vocals), Shields quickly made an impact in the heavy music scene with their viral single "I Just Feel Hate" — a track they re-released in a newly reimagined version in April 2025. Their EP GUILT cemented their refined sound, blending brutal instrumentation with poignant, emotionally driven lyrics. With this release, they demonstrated an aggressive adaptability to the ever-evolving alternative music landscape, winning over fans from across adjacent genres. The momentum of their powerful breakthrough led to tour cycles alongside acts such as Loathe, Ice Nine Kills, and Escape the Fate.

Shields' debut full-length album Life in Exile (2018) received critical acclaim for its raw honesty and musical maturity. However, the album cycle was tragically cut short by the sudden passing of guitarist George Christie — an event that ultimately led to the band's untimely and abrupt disbandment.

Their return marks a bold decision, given the tragic circumstances surrounding their 2018 split. Yet, Shields re-emerge with powerful new tracks, inviting audiences to witness the next evolution of their sound - matured, refined, and fearless. This new chapter is supported by a fortified lineup, featuring founding members Edwards andl Kubrick Finney, now joined by Alastair Wain (drums) and Krishan Pujara (bass).

If Shields' discography is any indication of what lies ahead, audiences can expect a torrent of unrelentingly bold strides into new sonic territories.

The Laguna EcoMix variant special edition adds two brand-new tracks, "Hit of Your Love" and "Echoes of a Stone Heart II, " and comes pressed on striking blue vinyl. The expanded version will also be available digitally on all DSPs and will include "Sign of Life" as a third bonus track.  Click HERE to preorder/stream.

At 19, he joined veteran metal act Lizzy Borden, with whom he toured for four years. He released two instrumental records with Mike Varney on Shrapnel Records in 2013 and 2017 titled DARIO LORINA and DEATH GRIP TRIBULATIONS. On January 1, 2014, he joined Black Label Society and has since been touring worldwide alongside Zakk Wylde, performing on guitar, piano, and backing vocals. About GATECREEPER:

Formed in 2013, GATECREEPER have spent the last decade steadily climbing the death metal ladder. Their self-titled 2014 EP established instant credibility as purveyors of the old-school form. The band signed with Relapse, releasing their highly acclaimed full-length debut Sonoran Depravation (2016), followed by Deserted (2019). Throughout the years they’ve toured with CANNIBAL CORPSE, IN FLAMES, POWER TRIP, OBITUARY, MUNICIPAL WASTE, and more.

GATECREEPER’s pivotal album Dark Superstition was released in 2004 via Nuclear Blast - their label debut. Their sprawling third full-length is more concise, melodic, and memorable than anything they’ve ever done

Dark Superstition deals with the supernatural, divination, fear of the unknown, and trust in magic or chance. The album shapeshifts from one brutal soundscape to the next as each sonic structure rouses its own emotion and landscape.

“Many of the songs incorporate supernatural ideas with my own experiences,” Mason says. “But the title itself is a reference to the Superstition Mountains in our home state of Arizona. It’s a beautiful mountain range surrounded by tragedy and legends of hidden fortune.”

Scottish mavericks FINI TRIBE present "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987" anthology

Scotland's iconic 1980s music mavericks Fini Tribe are releasing "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987" via Shipwrecked Industries. Previewed by the razor-edged singles “I Want More” and "We're Interested", this colossal anthology includes their legendary John Peel session from 1985, the original 12” singles (including "Detestimony") and the WaxTrax! singles, along with unreleased live tracks - all lovingly remastered and produced by the band's members.

Fini Tribe was born into the cash-poor but culturally-wealthy environs of post-punk Edinburgh in the very early 80s – 1980 to be precise. A tiny three-piece with no drummer would soon swell into a muscular six-piece with inherited or cheaply-purchased instruments. Band members Chris Connelly, Simon McGlynn, Andy McGregor, Davie Miller, Philip Pinsky, and John Vick haunted the cold, damp warrens of the Niddry Street and Blair Street rehearsal rooms, just off the high street in Old Town Edinburgh.

"The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe" is the first retrospective that is curated and designed by the band's members. It includes a wealth of archival photographs, an essay by original member Andy McGregor, who also designed the sleeve, and essays by longtime friend Shirley Manson (Garbage, Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie) and author Alastair McKay, an early champion of the band. This release also includes the first legendary John Peel Session, produced by Dale Griffin and originally broadcast in May 1985.

"This compilation was a long time in the making, a labour of love for the band, showcasing our most productive years as a six-piece. The compilation of tracks – from professional BBC recordings to live performance and rehearsal room demos – gives as broad a spectrum of the breadth of the band's creativity during those five important years from 1982 to 1987," says Chris Connelly.

Rehearsing and writing tirelessly between high school and part-time jobs, Fini Tribe played whenever they got the chance. CND benefits, support band for local mentors Visitors and Explode Your Heart, and endless rehearsals turning them into a well-oiled, if frantic, machine. Eventually gigging in London, Glasgow and Aberdeen, their sound grew as their sound became more unique. Influenced by Throbbing Gristle, Wire, Can, Captain Beefheart, and numerous angular funk bands championed by John Peel, they also drew from modern film, writing, and the art that was abundant in the festival city.

A debut self-released EP on their FINIFLEX label led to the John Peel Session. The band quickly morphed into a formidable experimental dance unit, cemented by the arrival of sampling. Their 1986 “Let The Tribe Grow” EP, with the anthemic, church-bell driven “Detestimony”, would become a lasting and iconic statement of intent. Fini Tribe heralded a new sound and new hypervisual approach, more akin to performance art than rock ‘n roll, with a one-off performance at Edinburgh’s prestigious Assembly Rooms: sculpture, film, ritual, new music, and suspended bin bags full of lurid poster paint sprayed a shocked audience. The gauntlet was thrown, covered in paint, and slapped like a wet fish.

In 1987, the band signed to WaxTrax! Records with a high-octane, percussion-driven cover of Can's “I Want More”, introducing the band to the temptations of the American dance floor. One more single for WaxTrax!, a reworking of “Detestimony”, and a few more events – including a night at Glasgow's Third Eye Centre that ended in flames - that was the end for this incarnation of the Fini Tribe. The band would lose a few members, including Chris, who joined The Revolting Cocks and moved to Chicago.

The tracks found on "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987" were recorded in Edinburgh at Wilf's Planet, Pier House, Niddry Street Rehearsal Rooms, Pleasance Theatre, and Calton Studios, and in London at Southern Studios and at BBC Studios, Maida Vale.

As of October 10,"The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe" is out digitally everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp and as a three-CD digipak with 24-page booklet. October 24 brings the release of the vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve with insert.

On October 10, Chris Connelly joins Fini Tribe for the album release celebration at the West Port Oracle in Edinburgh - an "in conversation" with Nicola Meighan (this non-ticketed event begins at 7.30pm).

REDIVIDER Unleashes First Single "Sounds Of Malice"

REDIVIDER, the Louisville-based death metal band known for their blend of old school brutality and modern aggression, has released their debut single “Sounds of Malice” today on all streaming platforms. The track is the first offering from their forthcoming full-length album Sounds of Malice, which will be released on January 9, 2026 through Third House Communications.

“Sounds of Malice” introduces listeners to REDIVIDER’s punishing sound and fantasy-driven lyrical style. The song tells the story of a deranged wizard addicted to Liquid Pain, a dark substance harvested from human suffering. Vocalist Jacob Spencer’s delivery is both guttural and deliberate, carried by twisting guitar riffs, time signature shifts, and melodic dissonance.

The full-length album Sounds of Malice will feature seven tracks written with live performance in mind, each exploring themes of death, ritual, and myth. Recorded between Round Table Recording Company and Michael Kent O’Bryan Studio, the album was engineered by Michael Kent O’Bryan and Brian “Bone” Thorburn, mixed by Paul Nunavath, and mastered by Dan Swano at Unisound. The result is a record that captures REDIVIDER’s intense live presence while delivering clarity and depth.

About REDIVIDER:

REDIVIDER is a death metal band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 2021 by vocalist Jacob Spencer and guitarist Paul Nunavath. Joined by guitarist Jake Atha and bassist Alexander Farrington, the band draws influence from the early Florida death metal scene and bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, and GORGUTS. With a sound rooted in old school brutality and layered with modern aggression, REDIVIDER combines guttural vocals, dissonant riffs, and relentless groove to create music that is both violent and immersive.

The band made their live debut in 2022 and quickly gained recognition in the underground scene, sharing stages with acts such as CREEPING DEATH, CRYPTA, MASACRE, COGNITIVE, and SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY. Their debut album Sounds of Malice is a conceptually rich, sonically punishing record that blends fantasy-driven storytelling with crushing heaviness. Written with live performance in mind, REDIVIDER’s music thrives on tension, rhythm, and unapologetic intensity, death metal built to be felt as much as heard.

REDIVIDER Lineup:

  • Jacob Spencer – Vocals

  • Paul Nunavath – Guitar

  • Jake Atha – Guitar

  • Alexander Farrington – Bass

  • Mike Hargrave – Drums (live)

ICE NINE KILLS Unleash Dark Homage to Batman ‘89, “The Laugh Track”

Ice Nine Kills invite you to “dance with the devil in the pale moonlight” with “The Laugh Track,” their riotous homage to Gotham City’s Clown Prince of Crime. The new song and cinematic music video riffs on the Joker, particularly as portrayed by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton’s gothic Batman

The Laugh Track” music video welcomes Matthew Lillard (Scream, Five Nights at Freddy’s, SLC Punk) and Phil Morris(Seinfeld, Smallville, Doom Patrol) to the INKverse, alongside returning collaborator Terry Kiser (Weekend at Bernie’s, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Weekend at Bernie’s II).

Stream “The Laugh Track" HERE and watch the brand new entry into the INK cinematic canon Below.

Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas spills:

"Why be a brooding bat when you can have the last laugh? After all, Jack Nicholson got top billing in Batman '89. While Michael Keaton's haunted Bruce Wayne is outstanding, young Spencer was drawn more to the Clown Prince of Crime. 'The Laugh Track' is our homage to Tim Burton's dark and gorgeous gothic Gotham. Batman '89 took its comic book material seriously, but it was far from grounded, and never forgot to have fun. It's the same tightrope we walk in Ice Nine Kills, with broad, maniacal smiles.

“Terry Kiser returns in the video (although the rumors of Miles' demise are exaggerated). And it brings a warm human smile to my face to introduce Matthew Lillard and Phil Morris to the INKverse. Like Prince before us, 'The Laugh Track' will have you dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight."

"The Laugh Track" captures the dark theatricality, gothic ambiance, and twisted humor that made Burton's Batman a masterpiece, delivered through Ice Nine Kills' distinctive mix of intense yet melodic metal and cinematic storytelling. The track follows Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs hit "The Great Unknown” (inspired by The Matrix) and the record-breaking "A Work of Art" from the highest-grossing unrated film ever, Terrifier 3.

Lillard crashed the Ice Nine Kills panel at this year’s Silver Scream Con to announce his entry into the INKverse. He and Spencer also revealed details about their Horrorwood Reserve collaboration, a blood colored bourbon issued in detailed collector bottles by Lillard’s Macabre Spirits.

Silver Scream Con 4 brought nearly 13,000 horror and music fans to the DCU in Worcester. Ice Nine Kills' headlining concert included guest appearances from WWE superstar Rhea Ripley and The Walking Deaddirector/producer Greg Nicotero, among others.

Horrorwood Reserve whiskey is a toast to the horror fandom that fuels both Macabre Spirits and Ice Nine Kills.Made from Bloody Butcher corn and aged five years in new American white oak, the whiskey delivers a slightly dry, nutty profile with notes of cinnamon, leather, and spice. Horrorwood Reserve boxed sets are available in two collectible, limited-edition sets: Golden Age and Silver Scream. Both sets contain a killer bottle designed by Michael Cortada of Ice Nine Kills, featuring a sleek-as-ice glass topper, along with a selection of celebrity cocktail recipe cards from Charnas and Lillard, and an epic lineup of horror icons. NYC's Laptop announces 'I Don't Know' single & London headliner show The former Island Records outfit now bridges generations

NYC-based 2000s x-Island Records innovators Laptop return with "I Don't Know", the third single from their forthcoming album "On This Planet" (out spring 2026). Following the viral momentum of their topical, TikTok-fueled singles “Weirder” and "Additional Animals", the band delivers a sharp back-to-school anthem laced with trademark deadpan wit. Balancing childlike defiance with Orwellian unease, “I Don’t Know” doubles as personal history and protest in these authoritarian times. Both playful and unsettling, it’s another strange dispatch from life on this planet.

Laptop emerged in the early 2000s on Island Records with the cult classic albums "Opening Credits", "The Old Me vs The New You" and "Don’t Try This at Home" earning praise from NME, The Guardian, and others for its stylized blend of synth-pop, irony, and heartbreak. The cult indie project has seen a proverbial reboot as a father-son duo with Jesse Hartman now joined by his 19-year-old son Charlie Hartman. An extension of a classic band, Laptop's witty indie-pop is a logical evolution, presenting a cross-generational blend that is part indie-pop, part satire, part family therapy session.

Written years ago by Jesse Hartman and his then four-year-old after Charlie gleefully sabotaged his first standardized test, this song channels the spirit of rebellion, absurdity, and questioning authority. As the chorus shrugs: “I don’t know, I’m just a kid — thinking about silly stuff.” You can even hear 4-year-old Charlie during the intro and outro, as he and dad wrote this crazy song.

“This song has always cracked me up — Charlie was four when we came up with it, after taking an IQ test. We knew he was a child genius (for real), but he failed this test, gleefully answering every question with purposeful wrong answers or a plain "I don’t know". The song stuck with us all these years because it felt bigger: a child’s joke that is really a protest anthem. And boy, do we need a protest anthem right now. It’s rebellion by accident, which turns out to be the perfect kind,” says Jesse Hartman.

Originally tracked in Valencia, Spain during a chaotic family trip, it was later overdubbed in Nevis, in the Caribbean, before being finalized back home in New York City. Its cinematic cast includes Nevis vocalist Anna Hadeed, whose playful lines spar with Jesse and Charlie; Hartman’s daughter Lulu, standing in for young Charlie with echoes of the song’s origin; and a raw, soulful harmonica turn from Santo Fazio—an actor and longtime Hartman muse, now lending a theatrical edge to Laptop’s sound.

The video, directed by Jesse, was filmed at Bravo Studios in New York. It reimagines a classroom as a surreal stage: Jesse and Charlie at school desks, Korina Deming as the stern teacher (and also choreographer), and Stephanie Koffroth as “Lulu”. Shot against a green screen and punctuated with animated detours (based on the brilliant animation on “Weirder”), toy harmonicas, and absurdist deadpan, the origin story is transformed into a playful, cinematic echo of the song’s fever dream.

Prior to Laptop, Jesse Hartman got his start as a teenage Voidoid with Richard Hellbefore co-founding the indie rock band Sammy (with Luke Wood, later President of Beats by Dre) and releasing albums on Fire Records and Geffen Records. Known for his dry humor and cinematic aesthetic, Hartman was once described by The Guardianas the master of “insincere sincerity.”

Laptop’s reboot has already amassed millions of streams and views worldwide for“Weirder” (4M+ views), mixed by Grammy award-winning producer Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Prince, Nine Inch Nails, Julian Lennon), and "Additional Animals" (2M+ views) with Britain's Radio 6 and Radio X also lending strong support.

Laptop recently staged an epic return to New York live performance with a 14-piece band at Sony Hall — their first hometown show in two decades. This Stop Making Sense–like spectacle underscores the scale and ambition of Laptop’s reboot, setting the stage for their October 20 headliner show in London at The Waiting Room with support by Room Service.

“I Don't Know” is available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full album "On This Planet" is forthcoming in Spring 2026.
