MAXIMO PARK songwriter DUNCAN LLOYD presents magnetic new single 'Rituals', teasing new album via Reveal Records

English songwriter-guitarist Duncan Lloyd presents his new single 'Rituals', a unique pop song born of a challenging year. Blending a modern sound with a deeply personal message about habits and healing, all while rotating through a circular, radio-like musical journey, this is the second taste from his new 12-track 'Unwound' album, forthcoming via Reveal Records.

A critically acclaimed solo artist, Lloyd is the primary musician behind internationally renowned art-rockers Maximo Park and also a member and co-writer (with Sarah Suri) in the indie band Nano Kino. Through a career spanning over two decades, Duncan Lloyd is a Mercury Music Prize nominee, has won an NME award, had A-listed singles at BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music (including lyric of the year), and has seen success with worldwide platinum and gold selling records. His songs have featured on eight hit albums with Maximo Park, consistently charting in the Top 10 U.K.

'Rituals' follows his latest invigorating single 'Laugh So Loud', which features a guest appearance by Joe Boyer (Cloud Nothings, Autopolitan) and accompanied by an adrenaline-rush of a video, this song is about self-doubt and passing things off as being fine.

"If there is a pop song on the album this is the closest song to one, although it didn’t start out that way. I wrote it during a difficult year and as with a few of the songs on the record it’s fundamentally a personal message to a loved one. I got a little obsessed with the sound of the production as i wanted it to be different from anything i’d done before so it has this modern sense to it," says Duncan Lloyd.

"The song is about habits, good and bad. It’s also a song about trying to help someone recover. Musically i was thinking of it being like a circle where the rhythm changes but the chords keep rotating, i wanted it to sound like it was coming through several broken radios with only one being crystal clear."

'Unwound' is the first studio album of new material that Lloyd is releasing via Reveal Records, his previous albums having been released by Warp Records or independently. With cover artwork derived from Lloyd’s own paintings, this record weaves a unique musical maze of free and varied personal expression, deep and transient, spare, intense and urgent with a balance of grit, beauty and melody.

Partly recorded by Julie McLarnon (The Vaselines, Lankum, King Creosote, Jeffrey Lewis, Brigid Mae Power) at Analogue Catalogue Studios in Ireland and by Lloyd himself at his studio in Newcastle Upon Tyne, this album also features contributions by Maximo Park keyboardist Jemma Freese and drummer Tom English.

Writing, recording (and painting) under his own name over the last decade, the Derby-born songwriter received an enthusiastic message from UK indie label/manager Tom Rose of Reveal Records in 2019, suggesting a future collaboration on his solo works (Rose had been listening to Lloyd's 2019 album 'Outside Notion' whilst on tour with now label-mate Joan As Police Woman). Requesting Duncan sent everything he'd recorded to date in whatever form, reissues of Lloyd’s early solo albums followed. The colossal 31-track selected works collection 'Green Grows Devotion' came out in 2022, followed by 'Fun City', a trilogy of three EPs recorded in succession throughout 2024.

While 'Unwound' is very much an album with Duncan Lloyd stepping front and centre, his career is dotted with collaboration with various musicians and producers, including Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Glass Animals, Rihanna), Gil Norton (The Pixies, Echo & The Bunnymen), Nick Launay (Nick Cave, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Ben Allen (Gnarls Barclay, Deerhunter), Rudimental, Dave Okumu, Batida and as part of Africa Express with legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen.

As of June 3, 'Rituals' is available from fine digital music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The full 'Unwound' album will be released everywhere on July 11th.

Changeling Release Stop Motion Video for "World? What World?"

CHANGELING, the progressive death metal project led by fretless guitar luminary Tom "Fountainhead" Geldschläger, are unveiling a stunning stop motion animation video for “World? What World?”. The song is one of the many highlights from the band’s critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album.

Bridging chaotic intensity with theatrical grandeur, “World? What World?” captures a pivotal moment in the album’s psychedelic journey. Following the success of Changeling’s self-titled debut, the Dolby Atmos mix of the album will arrive this week. Mixed with immersive spatial depth and precision, this version offers a fully enveloping listening experience. It places listeners directly inside the intricate orchestral arrangements, swirling fretless guitars and psychedelic soundscapes. Engineered by Tom himself and Atmos-mixing veteran Eric Horstmann, the Atmos release brings a new dimension to this genre-defying work.

In a significant development in early 2024, Fountainhead, now branded under the name CHANGELING for his new project and album, signed with the label Season of Mist. This venture marks a new chapter in Tom’s career, amplifying his visionary approach to music. Harajuku-core trailblazers HANABIE. are bringing the heat on their new single "Spicy Queen" and the official music video (via Sony Music Japan). Taking inspiration from experiences on their recent US co-headlining tour with Kim Dracula, today's release is in celebration of the band's 10-year anniversary and is a counterpart to the fan-favorite track "We love sweets". When asked about "Spicy Queen", vocalist Yukina commented:

"The song 'WE LOVE SWEETS,' which we released in 2021, has become a gateway track for listeners to discover our music. It’s a very meaningful track for us. As time has passed and we have matured, we thought, “Let’s make a spicy version of the song!” during our tour. Inspired by the famous “Nashville Hot Chicken”, we decided to create this new rendition that features a spicy and stimulating musical progression. The song tells the familiar tale of a young boy completely smitten with his new neighbor, “Janie,” who also captures the imagination of every other boy on the block. Yet, “Janie” is a young femme fatale far more worldly than their wildest dreams. This is the first video to feature Johnny all by himself.

Johnny had this to say about the making of the video, “My fabulous videographers, Brianna and Kurt Jorgensen, suggested that we film this one with just me. At first I thought that seemed a bit odd, but then they showed me a couple of videos that they produced for the late, great Joey Molland of ‘Badfinger,’ featuring Joey just by himself. That was enough to convince me to give it a shot out of curiosity, if nothing else. As luck would have it, Kurt found an old, abandoned barn in Henderson, Minnesota, which we later discovered was yards away from a scene Prince shot for the movie, ‘Purple Rain.’ The serendipity continued in abundance when a freight train came roaring by unexpectedly right during a take of the tune. The other scene was filmed outside of an iconic Twin Cities dive, ‘Ted’s Bar.’ My Audi TT makes a cameo appearance, as well.”

O’Neil’s third solo effort, Brand New Day, covers broad musical territory, taking elements from the past and adding a decidedly modern twist, combining guitar-driven hard rock and R&B with hooky choruses that get stuck in your head for days. Recruiting the talents of John Funk on lead guitar, Benny Craig on bass, and Joachim Baecker on drums, as well as engineer/co-producer Brian Bart – O’Neil’s former bandmate in Dare Force – O’Neil and his full band spent months writing and rehearsing before hunkering down to record with Bart at Winterland Studios in Minneapolis, as well as the legendary Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minn., where Nirvana famously recorded In Utero.

Steve Rothery and Thorsten Quaeschning introduce their collaborative project ‘Bioscope’, launching album this August

Bioscope is the highly anticipated collaborative project from guitar maestro Steve Rothery (Marillion) and electronic composer Thorsten Quaeschning (Tangerine Dream).

Their debut album Gentō, out August 22nd 2025 on earMUSIC, offers a deeply atmospheric journey where two distinct musical worlds converge. The album features an extraordinary performance by Elbow’s drummer Alex Reeves, whose rhythmic finesse and musical intuition bring depth and subtle momentum to the entire album.

The project began in early 2020 and gradually developed through focused five-day sessions in Berlin and at Rothery’s home studio in Southwest England. Each of the five instrumental tracks draws inspiration from man's endearing fascination with the moving image. From soaring guitar themes that recall the best of progressive rock to sequencer-driven passages rooted in Berlin School electronica, the music unfolds like a film without images – immersive, dreamlike, and full of detail. Each track reflects a shared sensibility shaped by decades of musical exploration.

Together, they bring decades of musical experience to a project that feels both intimate and expansive. Rothery’s guitar lines speak with emotional clarity, while Quaeschning’s detailed sound design shapes the music’s internal architecture.

Their collaboration is not just a fusion of styles, but a thoughtful dialogue between two established musical identities – a true “bioscope” in the sense of offering a view of life through music.

The name Bioscope comes from the Greek bios (life) and skopeein (to look). Before cinema, it meant “a view or survey of life” – a fitting metaphor for a project that turns musical experience into shared perception.

French metal alchemists TSS (formerly The Sunday Sadness) have steadily built their reputation in the global metal scene, thanks to their innovative blend of emo, metalcore, alternative rock, and synthwave. ABOUT TSS:
TSS's origin story can be traced back to December 2017, with "The Wrong Way," their firstsingle release. In May 2018, they released "Lost In The Crowd," a track that set the stage for their first live performance, which found them opening for Asking Alexandria in Paris. This show established TSS as an up and coming force in the French music scene.

Their 2018 single "Someone," a blend of synthwave and retrowave, was a turning point that showcased John as a second lead vocalist. This shift was followed by their self-titled debut EP in May 2019, led by the single "Damn I Hate It," which fans loved, thanks to its fusion of funk, synthwave, and emo elements. In a powerful fusion of Irish mythology and unbridled metal ferocity, HORRENDA’s 2020 album Díoltas is set to conquer the U.S. with its upcoming physical release. The Dublin-based extreme metal band, known for their intense blending of black and death metal with atmospheric elements, first captured the attention of the underground metal scene with their explosive live performances and innovative sound.

Formed in 2015 by Darragh "Outis" O'Connor, HORRENDA quickly evolved from a solo project into a six-member ensemble that channels raw black metal, death metal, and a unique infusion of Irish folklore. Having played in numerous bands throughout the years, Guitarist Greg Antine came to a point in his career where he wanted to branch out and write songs that had more depth and were inspired by his personal life experiences. Having worked with Bassist George Pond for several years in previous projects including, Disciples Of Verity, Greg expressed his concept for Swim The Current to George in hopes of collaborating with him on this new music venture. The two began to flesh out ideas in George’s home studio and realized quickly that they were on to something special, but still needed something more to see their ideas through to complete their concepts. Greg was introduced to Joe Gareri, Guitar/Keyboards, by George during the Disciples Of Verity debut album recording sessions which Joe is also featured on as a guest artist. The three of them immediately hit it off and worked extremely well together. Greg and George realized that Joe’s cinematic writing style would be a perfect match for their concepts and Joe was then brought in as a full time member. After two songs were completed and demo’d in George’s studio utilizing programmed drums, it was suggested by their friend Allyson Song River Jaynes, that they reach out to her friend, drummer Chris Moore of Ultraphonix, Rock Of Ages, to see if he would be interested in working with the project. Upon hearing the strength of songwriting and musicianship of the band, Chris was all in and signed on as the fourth full time member of STC and now the band, from an instrument’s perspective, was complete.

The final missing piece for STC was a lead vocalist who could capture the sound they envisioned for their music. After working in the studio with a few different vocalists, George ultimately reached out to his friend Marcos Leal, of legendary international touring band Ill Nino. Marcos loved the music of STC as well as having the freedom and creativity of writing lyrics for the project. After recording their first song together with Marcos, "We Are Not The Same", everyone new that this lineup was something special and Swim The Current was now complete! The release of "We Are Not The Same" took off instantly, and amassed thousands of streams, YouTube views and followers through a total organic DIY social media campaign.

Swim The Current’s sound is influenced and reminiscent of many of their favorite artists including, Deftones, Faith No More, Sevendust, POD, and Stabbing Westward. They continue to write new music and look forward to sharing their future releases with the world!

Gridiron, which originally formed as a pandemic project and have since grown into a full-fledged entity, features members of Never Ending Game, Simulakra, and Scarab, and connects the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Michigan areas.

Pushing every boundary to a breaking point, Gridiron will go to any extreme and then some. They follow quite possibly the most unpredictable playbook in the game. The band might flood the zone with a corpsepaint-smearing death metal barrage only to double back around for a victory lap narrated by blinged-out and braggadocios bars. Their hybridization of metal, hardcore, and hip-hop wouldn’t be out of place at either OZZfest 1997 or Rolling Loud 2027.

It's why the quintet have bulldozed their own path as a phenomenon with millions of streams and acclaim from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, NO ECHO, and more.

Gridiron were born out of a series of COVID-era marathon Call of Duty sessions, which led to writing and recording together. Seattle's AUDIOGUST releases 'Here We Go Again' album, including superb hometown anthem

Seattle-based artist AudioGust presents his album 'Here We Go Again', comprising 14 deeply personal and universally relatable tracks. An ode to the highs and lows of creativity, this album includes some of his most popular singles, along with new material. Blending raw energy with introspective storytelling, the album explores the unpredictable nature of inspiration—both the exhilarating moments when it strikes and the emptiness when it fades.

AudioGust is songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Chris Evans, whose journey started as a guitarist and bassist in various 1980s bands. After a decades-long detour in the software industry, he has returned to his true passion - writing and recording in his own studio, releasing dozens of songs and collaborating with artists worldwide. Crafting memorable melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, underscored by upbeat rhythms and arrangements, AudioGust creates music that speaks to the disenchanted and dreamers alike through sonic explorations of the modern human condition.

Highlight track ‘Seattle’ is a love letter penned to the Emerald City, told through the eyes of a traveler who spends too much time on the road. Longing to return home, he clings to the memory of a fleeting connection made on his latest trip, hoping to bring that person back to experience everything he loves about his city. More than just a personal story, 'Seattle' is somewhat a theme song for the city itself.

“The theme of 'Here We Go Again' is the unpredictable nature of inspiration—both the euphoria of experiencing it and the despair when it disappears. The album is split into songs that explore the extremes of inspiration and songs that have come to me while living through those extremes. Structurally, the album follows a pattern: odd-numbered tracks tell stories about the many ways artists interact with inspiration, while even-numbered tracks are either songs that arrived in those flashes of creativity or, like Unspoken, took months of struggle to bring to life,” says Chris Evans.

Here, Evans presents a menu of hooky anthems for disenchanted optimists. With a sound vortex imbued with 90’s to 2000’s alternative rock, his guitar-driven music brings in a strong, driving rhythm section, big choruses and even bigger bridge sections. Offering a deep dive into the creative process, this record features six brand-new songs as well as fan-favorite singles, including 'Tomorrow is Mine', a finalist in the 2024 USA Songwriting Contest.

'Here We Go Again' sets the stage with the artist jolting awake at 3AM with a song forming in his head, struggling to capture it before it fades. 'Bubble in Your Champagne' is that very song. 'Unspoken' explores the frustration of knowing when to hold back words, even if they’re true—mirroring the battle to express thoughts in music when inspiration is nowhere to be found. 'I Like Falling Down' introduces a disillusioned character who clings to his depression as part of his self-identity, with his story taking a turn in 'Bright Yellow', inspired to create music that may help others and ends up saving himself.

'Whole Heart' follows a band from their earliest days to success, while the frontman wonders when true inspiration strike again to once again feel that fleeting, electrifying moment of creation. 'Award Show' delves into the darker side of creative success, exposing the paralyzing grip of imposter syndrome. 'Dead to Me' is written from the muse’s point of view, expressing frustration at being ignored by someone she’s trying to inspire. 'How You Been?', co-written with Celine Dion and Eminem collaborator Liz Rodrigues, explores the story of someone who left music behind to pursue a stable career, but ultimately understands he can no longer run from what truly makes him feel alive.

'Tomorrow is Mine' paints a striking picture of resilience through the eyes of a young girl trapped in a war zone, losing faith that today will bring change, but daring to believe that maybe tomorrow will bring a better future. 'Never Gonna Let You Go' is a ska-infused tune about a character who plays against someone who is trying to manipulate him. 'Something to Remember' is a tongue-in-cheek look at folks who feel they’ve never done anything truly memorable. The album closes on a deeply personal note with 'Keep Holding On', Evans' reflection on losing his father, grappling with how to move forward without someone who had always been a source of support and creative encouragement.

Alt-pop singer-songwriter, Dela Kay, has officially released her latest single, “Between The Lines,” today—a soul-searching, guitar-laced track that marks a bold new chapter in her sonic evolution. “It talks about how unusual and confusing peace can feel,” says Dela Kay. “Reading ‘between the lines’ to self-soothe can sometimes turn into self-destruction. But in my case, my

overthinking ended up being a strong intuition. The line between the two isn’t always easy to see.”

Originally written in July 2024 at collaborator Nick Cozine’s East Nashville home, “Between The Lines” explores the psychological push and pull of vulnerability, intuition, and self-sabotage in relationships. “It’s definitely a vibe I haven’t done before,” Dela Kay shares. “It’s moodier, built around vibey guitar lines, and it might actually be the first song I’ve released with a guitar solo—which is dope!”

Co-written by Dela Kay, Rikki Jo Randall, and Nick Cozine, produced by Stefano Pigliapoco and Nick Cozine, and mixed and mastered by Pigliapoco; “Between The Lines” dives into the tension between emotional safety and perceived threat—highlighting the anxiety that can creep in even during moments of calm.
