Dal Av x Jackson Rose Announces New Album 'Petrichor' out February 20 + Drops New Music Video "Colors Collapsed"

Incendiary guitarist/producer Dal Av and vocalist Jackson Rose (masterminds behind the viral sensation "Insanely Illegal Cage Fight"), along with drummer Patrick Galante, have announced a new album 'Petrichor' set for release on February 20. In celebration of the news, they have released their new track "Colors Collapsed" and the accompanying official music video. When asked about the inspiration behind 'Petrichor', Dal Av shared:

I wanted to write an album that made listeners want to drive 80MPH through a toll booth.

Conquer Divide Share New Track "Bad Dreams" Feat. Of Virtue

Conquer Divide have revealed their latest single, "Bad Dreams," featuring Michigan metalcore heroes Of Virtue. The single drops ahead of their U.K. and European tour dates.

Listen to "Bad Dreams" here.

Watch the lyric video below.

The song combines Conquer Divide's ability to mix luscious and captivating vocals and hooks with their crushing intensity, both musically and lyrically, on this introspective slab of inner turmoil, which is complemented by Of Virtue's vocalists (Tyler Ennis and Damon Tate) melodic-turned-raging contributions.

Talking about the personal tones of the song, guitarist Izzy Johnson says, "We are stoked to bring the next era of Conquer Divide with our new song 'Bad Dreams,' featuring Of Virtue. Lyrically, it touches on the feeling of wanting nothing more than to succeed but being sabotaged by your own thoughts. Analysis paralysis is real and creates cycles that sometimes feel unbreakable, something that we have all individually experienced. Just like our other songs 'Paralyzed,' 'Pressure,' and 'N E W H E A V E N' (that also have introspective themes), we hope this song is something our listeners can relate to and find comfort in. Big thanks to the guys in Of Virtue who made the song come alive, we are blessed to create music alongside such talent."

Of Virtue's Tyler Ennis adds, "I've been a fan of Conquer Divide ever since I heard 'Messy.' It's an absolute honor being asked to bring both our bands together on their newest single and we're excited for it to finally be released!"

They recently had two recordings that are having wide success at the US Active Rock format. First, a new version of the band’s hit "Paralyzed" (Featuring Attack Attack!); which became the band's first entry on the Billboard charts, and re-release of alt-rockers 10 Years' hit "The Optimist," which featured Conquer Divide's Kia, ahead of the two bands touring the U.S. together in October.

In January 2025, Conquer Divide will return to Europe and the UK for a tour with New Years Day between the  January 21 and February 1. Right after, the band will appear with Ankor starting on February 7 in Cologne, and will call through Germany, The Netherlands, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and will finish on March 16 in Kortrijk, Belgium.

A Deluxe Edition of their most recent album Slow Burn was released digitally last September and featured an additional six recordings. Three of these are from Sirius XM Octane's Next Wave Concert Series, which are "Bad Guy," "Atonement," and "Paralyzed." Alongside "Paralyzed (Featuring "Attack Attack!)," "Only Girl" (Acoustic), and "80 Proof."

The band hailing from the U.S., U.K. and Canada have made a steady progression from their melodic metalcore inspired roots, maturing into a formidable hard rock act, nearing the end of their first decade together. In 2020, they returned to the studio with 2x Grammy nominated producer Tyler Smyth (Falling in Reverse, I Prevail) and 4x RIAA certified gold record producer Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, Of Mice & Men) and began recording of Slow Burn.

SLOW BURN picked up multiple playlisting including All New Metal, Rock Hard, The Core, Heavy Queens, Kickass Metal, New Nu and more. They picked up multiple BBC Radio 1 plays alongside playlisting at Kerrang! Radio, Kerrang! TV and Primordial Radio. "Paralyzed" was one of the Metal Hammer 2023 tracks of the year with the album also being amongst the ‘Albums of the Year.’ They've picked up support from Rock Sound, Distorted Sound, Alternative Press, Revolver, GuitarWorld, SXM Octane, Loudwire and more. The album has now exceeded 40 million cumulative streams.

NJ Hard Rockers, WHO ON EARTH, Return with Mind-Bending Anthem "Lobotomy" - Taking Aim at Social Media's Mass Hypnosis

New Jersey hard rockers WHO ON EARTH are back with the hard-hitting and unapologetic single "Lobotomy" - pulling no punches as it confronts the grip of shock media, false news, and political agendas that have divided the masses and hypnotized a generation. The track stands as a raw outcry against the endless stream of content that keeps people locked in virtual lives, numbing free thought and fueling a culture of disconnection.

With searing riffs and urgent lyrics, "Lobotomy" calls out the manipulation and mindless consumption that dominates our screens. The band describes the track as a wake-up call to break free from the digital haze.

Vocalist Coosh comments, "In a country founded on civil liberties, many still allow themselves to be mentally enslaved by societal expectations—conforming to trends, no matter how absurd. Free thinking is increasingly mischaracterized as hate speech. Trust your own path and let your true self shine through."

In addition to the release of the single, WHO ON EARTH have also released a music video, available to view below.

On the release of the video, bassist Pete Rizzi adds:

"Although the subject matter of this song is pretty serious, ok, it's downright scary. We did have a great time cutting Coosh's skull open, rewiring his brain, and having him see the light. Just like in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest!"

WHO ON EARTH have also announced the release of their highly antipicated new EP 'Smoke & Mirrors' out on March 7th, pre-orders will be available soon.

The release of 'Smoke & Mirrors' comes in the wake of a heartbreaking loss for the band. In July, WHO ON EARTH completed recording their new material, only to lose their lead guitarist, Bruce Gatewood, to a sudden heart attack. Bruce was a beloved musician, friend, and mentor whose legacy is deeply embedded in the band’s music.

Bruce will always live on in our hearts, and his contributions will be heard for many years to come,” reflects the band. “We’ve vowed to honor him by getting this music out to the world and keeping his memory alive.”

'Smoke & Mirrors' was produced, mixed, engineered & mastered by Mike Orlando (Category 7Adrenaline Mob) at Sonic Stomp Studios, NY, NY, while the EP cover art was created by Ken Adams (Lamb of God).

On the release of the EP, WHO ON EARTH comments, "We plan on releasing new music throughout the year, and 'Smoke & Mirrors' is part one. We can't wait for people to hear how the band has grown from 'Blame' and how layered our songwriting and musicianship has become."

WHO ON EARTH are:

Coosh – vocals

Pete Rizzi – bass

Howie Fallon – drums

Johnny James Barone – guitar

Jimmy Kocha – guitar

Restless Mosaic presents 'Lost Within This Time' single featuring Lovespirals' icon Anji Bee

West Coast artist Restless Mosaic presents 'Lost Within This Time', the first taste of his forthcoming third album 'Quality Mirrors', due out on March 7.  The song takes many surprising turns, all of them dark. Developed around elevator samples that came to form four separate layers of this song, this lead track features vocals by Anji Bee of renowned dreampop duo Lovespirals, singing ethereally and as claustrophobically as the slabs of the unsettling soundscape behind her.

In the video, Anji plays a ghost haunting an elevator. With Restless Mosaic (a.k.a. Brandon Isleib) and Anji Bee residing quite a distance from one another, they shot their scenes separately. Portraying a ghost who lures Isleib into her haunted elevator – where she lives in a concert poster. Now entrapped, she transmits his soul into the poster, essentially taking her place. Isleib explains, "My home city let me and my producer film in a city-owned office building that hasn’t been used in years – a perfect setting to make a campy ‘80s horror story".

"'Lost Within This Time' is about my mental state post-pandemic. Like many, I’m finding it hard to re-acclimate. Places I used to go have closed. I quit doing the things I used to do. Many people I thought I knew either disappeared or showed sides that made me pull away. Society both on and offline seems much more hostile, and as a consequence I’ve become guarded," says Anji Bee.

"Working with Brandon let me express my thoughts in a slightly edgier manner, as the instrumental he presented me with is a lot more experimental. The elevator sounds, in particular, are quite eerie, so I had fun playing that up with an ethereal refrain of “I’m lost” – which sounds like it could be a ghost calling up the elevator shaft, or wandering down a long, dark hallway."

Brandon Isleib is an electronic songmaker based in Everett, Washington. The name Restless Mosaic derives from the idea of a mosaic's intricacy and structure, and how the parts and the whole relate in a way that they only make sense when they come together. In the same way, he combines sounds and genres, usually considered disparate, connecting them into something greater than any one of them.

Through these song structures, transitions and balanced textures, and by anchoring certain aspects, the listener can enjoy grounded music and enjoy these sonic adventures – explorations that embody a sense of restlessness. Noted as offering up “a setting in which listeners can expect the unexpected” with music that is “a boon for your neuroplasticity”, Restless Mosaic's music has been streamed over 3 million views via YouTube.

"I met Anji Bee through the listening party for the remaster of Love Spirals Downwards’ 'Flux' album. I had noticed she’d made a lot of different song styles, many of them dark, so I inquired about a collaboration. When she expressed interest, I started composing a sort of gothic metal song but swapping out all the sounds for ‘80s synth-jazz instead – something to fit both Anji’s angel and chanteuse sides," explains Brandon Isleib.

"That fit nicely with samples recorded of a creepy elevator in a hotel I had stayed at, and I started building the next part of the song around that. That gave the most space for Anji to put a verse, but she surprised me by wanting to make the denser chorus music into the verse. The ensuing rearrangement yielded the unusual structure of starting as a full-fledged synth song, then going into a barely melodic industrial phase, then gradually introducing both halves to each other. I draw a lot of inspiration from Underworld’s production style: set up the song’s rules and then start breaking them. 'Lost Within This Time' does this while showcasing Anji’s versatility and ability to make the bizarre sound right."

Anji Bee adds, "The frenetic, skittering energy in the first part seemed suited to my lyrics' theme. The fretless bass reminded me of music I loved in the '80s, like Mick Karn and Kate Bush. I tried to channel their vocal theatricality in my performance. Though I’m best known as a singer, I’ve dabbled in spoken word for decades, and I enjoyed incorporating a bit of that too. This is a personal lyric, but I think it’s pretty universal, and I hope that others in a similar period of their life will find some comfort in the song."

Apart from Anji Bee, the 'Quality Mirrors' album features contributions by New York singer-songwriter Rose Alaimo and prolific rapper Declaime (Aloe Blacc, Madlib, and Flying Lotus), with whom Restless Mosaic is already working on a new album that brings Declaime's poetry to Isleib's back catalog of instrumentals.

As of January 14, 'Lost Within This Time' is available everywhere, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. The full 'Quality Mirrors' album will be released on March 7.

ENVY OF NONE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM STYGIAN WAVZ (MARCH 14TH, 2025) ALBUM TITLE TRACK + NEW VIDEO ‘STYGIAN WAVES’ OUT TODAY

Envy Of None are back today with news of their much anticipated second album,Stygian Wavz, set for release on Kscope on March, 14th. The announcement follows a recent flurry of activity from the Canadian/American band which saw them release two singles, ‘Not Dead Yet’ and ‘Under The Stars’, both of which included on the new album.

To celebrate the announcement, Envy Of None have shared a new single - album title track ‘Stygian Waves’ – alongside a new music video animated and directed by Mariano Biotico. Speaking on the new single and the upcoming album, Envy of None songwriter and bassist Andy Curran said “This track is a favourite of all 4 EONs. Despite the fact of the spartan lyrical content, this song features our sweet Maiah on lead vocals. Her harmonies and layers of vocals are literally symphonic! It’s hard to put a finger on what style or genre this one is…and we’re proud of that!”

Though they’d never describe themselves as such, Envy Of None are the living, breathing definition of a supergroup. No other band on earth could rightly claim to have Alex Lifeson – one of rock’s most influential visionaries – heading up guitar duties, with Andy Curran of Coney Hatch and Soho 69 overseeing bass/programming as well as producer extraordinaire Alfio Annibalini on keyboards. However, the star in this band could very well be its youngest member – American singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne – whose wonderfully emotive vocals are able to spin the music in new exciting directions that thrill to the core.

On their self-titled debut of 2022, the group were able to prove that they were a lot more than the sum of their parts, with an abundance of panache and finesse poured into a contemporary alt rock sound that was hard to predict and even harder to categorize. This year’s sophomore release, Stygian Wavz, is the sound of a band basking in the radiant glow of creative confidence and coming into their own, staggering the listener with every twist and turn encased within their heady mix of genre-splicing brilliance.

Telepathy Announce New Album "Transmissions" + Share New Track "Oath"

UK-based post-metal instrumentalists Telepathy have announced the release of their fourth full-length, Transmissions, on March 14 through Berlin's Pelagic Records. Pre-order it here.

Formed in 2011, Telepathy is the creation of three Polish brothers: Piotr, Albert, and Krystian Turek, and English guitarist Richard Powley. Bringing a collision of musical influences from Tool, Deftones, and Vangelis to genres as diverse as synthwave and post-punk, it is the collective's pervading love for film and movie scores that truly unites the band's members under the Telepathy banner. Together, the four-piece quickly made a name for themselves through their instrumental balance of atypical tunings, found audio samples and joyride-like time signatures, conveying remarkably deep and dynamic narratives through their instruments alone.

Telepathy's latest offering Transmissions marks the culmination of four years of introspection, experimentation and revitalisation; representing the band at its expressive core. Inspired by faded photographs unearthed in the brother's family home and the surprise discovery of a long lost relic, Transmissions is a cluster of musical messages that hurtles between nostalgic snapshots of the past and the everyday chaos of the present. Amongst precious memories and family treasures, the Turek brothers stumbled upon a recording of the first radio broadcast of statesman Józef Piłsudski, widely regarded as the founder of modern Poland. The wonder and optimism in his voice, captured over 100 years ago, ignited an inspirational drive to reflect this sense of awe in the present by pushing their musical creativity further than ever before.

This revolutionary reinvention is immediately apparent on lead single and opening track "Oath," which poured effortlessly out of the band in just one day. A recreation of that famous radio transmission introduces eight formidable minutes of widescreen riffs and thundering drums augmented by a new arsenal of cinematic synth textures that pushes Telepathy's already genre-defying ethos towards introspective new terrain as they reframe nostalgic awe as a means of embracing the beauty of a shared present

"Oath" is out now. Listen below.

"'Oath' embodies so much of why we make music and our commitment to one another and to our craft," the band says. "It's a big, heavy, and cinematic track, both epic and intimate. More than just a track, it's a promise—  a vow to push the boundaries of our sound and to create music that resonates deeply with us and you."

Dutch Futuristic Metallers CRYPTOSIS Launch New Single “Reign Of Infinite” + Video

Dutch futuristic metallers CRYPTOSIS have announced their return with a mighty, awe-inspiring sophomore album entitled 'Celestial Death,' set for worldwide release on March 7, 2025, via Century Media Records.

To further demonstrate the powerful and versatile material available on 'Celestial Death,' a second single entitled “Reign Of Infinite” is being made available today across digital platforms and can also be checked out in a video clip produced by the film production company F/53 HERE.

CRYPTOSIS checked in with the following comment about the track:

“We’re really excited to share our newest single, 'Reign of Infinite,' with all of you. This track is a dystopian anthem that dives deep into the rise of a new god, blending relentless Overkill-style double bass drums with an epic and dark atmosphere. It’s not your typical CRYPTOSISsound—most of the song rides on the same beat and pulse, creating a hypnotic energy, while Laurens’ vocals bring an atmospheric edge. As the second single from our sophomore album, 'Celestial Death,' 'Reign of Infinite' offers a glimpse into the vast and intense album we've created—one that’s darker, heavier, and more unrelenting than ever before. Stay tuned for the full album release, and let us know what you think!"

Watch the New Video for "Reign of Infinite" Below.

About 'Celestial Death,' CRYPTOSIS shared the following:

“We’re excited to announce our new album! A sonic journey that pushes all boundaries of everything we created before. This album represents our evolution - an exploration of darkness that’s both vast and cinematic. 'Celestial Death' pulls you into a haunting atmosphere with relentless heaviness. Each track digs deeper into the enigma of existence, decay and fragile hope. 'Celestial Death' is our darkest vision yet - a soundtrack to the chaotic world we live in. It’s heavier, bolder, and still very much CRYPTOSIS. We can’t wait for you to experience it, and join us in this new chapter. Prepare to ascend. The 'Celestial Death' awaits!".

Recorded by Olaf Skoreng at Tom Meier and Studio Moon Music between April and August 2024, mixed by Fredrik Folkare at Chrome Studios (Unleashed, Necrophobic, Hellbutcher) in Sweden and finally mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Studios (Arch Enemy, Borknagar, Amorphis) in Sweden too, 'Celestial Death' once more comes with artwork by Eliran Kantor (Kreator, Testament, My Dying Bride) and showcases the group on a darker, heavier, more melodic and extremely cinematic journey across its 11 tracks / 42 minutes of playing time.

LUNA KILLS Share Video For New Single "LEECH"

LUNA KILLS, Finland's rising alt-metal sensation, have unleashed their ferocious new single, "LEECH," the third track taken from the recently announced album, DEATHMATH, set for release on April 4 via SharpTone Records

The album promises to be a defining statement for the band, showcasing their emotionally charged lyrics and unrelenting sound. Previously, LUNA KILLS released "sugar rush" and "slay your enemies," both of which earned critical acclaim and cemented the band’s place as a rising force in modern alt-metal.

Watch the video below. Stream the song here.

Vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen commands the track with haunting, powerful vocals, while the band’s signature combination of heavy riffs, thunderous drums, and driving bass amplifies the song's dark yet anthemic energy.

"'LEECH' is a raw depiction of battling depression and thoughts of self harm,' vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen explains. "Its lyrics portray the denial and avoidance of facing the depths of the illness, even as it spirals out of control. Ultimately, it conveys the painful understanding of staying in that place, where fear and self-hatred have entwined so tightly with one's identity that they seem impossible to separate."

Ruutiainen shares a surprising insight into the creative process, saying, "The song was one of the last few we wrote for the album, and the music came together in a more relaxed and joyful manner than the lyrics might suggest. It's one of those songs that came together quickly because everyone instantly connected with the melodies and rhythms and had a shared vision for it."

ABOUT LUNA KILLS:
LUNA KILLS are, without a doubt, one of the most refreshing modern metal act in the scene, combining alternative and nu-metal vibes with electronics inspired by game soundtracks. Their frontwoman Lotta, with her jazz singing background and incredible fry scream vocals, brings the audience to their knees — unless they are speeding around in moshpits, as often witnessed in their fiery live shows. Even as newcomers, LUNA KILLS have already opened the door to their beloved gaming world as their music is featured in the hit mobile app Beatstar. The band, first formed in 2019, has now taken their first steps on European stages, gained the attention of multiple rock radios in their native Finland and are moving forward towards their first full-length album with SharpTone Records.

Lotta Ruutiainen — Vocals
Samuli Paasineva — Guitar

Randall King & Fiancée Brittany Warthan Announce They’re Expecting 1st Child with Heartfelt Duet, “Baby Steps”

Hereford, Texas native Randall King and his fiancée, fellow singer/songwriter Brittany Warthan, announced they’re expecting their first child in spring 2025 with the release of their heartfelt duet, “Baby Steps,” available now.

Written by Brittany Warthan, Michael Davis and Dylan Nordquist, “Baby Steps” celebrates the little moments that go into building a relationship, each culminating in the next chapter of their lives as they prepare to wed and become parents:

So far, so good and its only getting better
Two hearts that could take on anything together
Still got a lot to learn cause we ain't got a clue
What happens when our world starts spinning pink or blue
Getting ready for more baby steps with you

“This baby is a massive blessing! I’ve always wanted to be a father and start a family and it kick starts this year,” King shares excitedly. “Couldn’t ask for a better momma either! This baby is gonna be SO loved and raised up on Jesus and country music. Can’t wait to finally have my little one in my arms!”

“I’m blown away and just honored that God has trusted us with something so special,” Warthan adds. “I’m excited to go into another chapter of life with confidence because I get to raise a little one with a man that inspires me daily.”

King released his sophomore album, Into The Neon, via Warner Music Nashville on January 26, 2024 to critical acclaim from Grammy.comBillboard and more, leaving Texas Monthly stating “his Texas bona fides are unimpeachable” and Holler lauding King as “the genre's neo-traditional figurehead.” The album yielded King’s debut single, “I Could Be That Rain,” which arrived as the most-added single at country radio, and has 80 total adds to-date.

King recently announced the acoustic version of the album, Neon (Unplugged), is due out on Feb. 21. For more information and to follow along with updates, visit RandallKingMusic.com.

About Randall King:
A West Texas native and self-described “old soul," Warner Music Nashville's Randall King has never wavered in his honky-tonk allegiance – in fact, he’s worn it like a badge of honor, growing with pride into a leading voice for today’s traditional country. Amassing nearly 400 Million streams with singles like “You In A Honky Tonk,” “Hey Cowgirl” and “Mirror, Mirror,” he’s kept the twang alive in country’s mainstream while also earning acclaim through deeply personal EPs like 2020’s Leanna, and his 2022 major label album debut, Shot Glass – which landed on both Whiskey Riff’s Top 40 Country Albums of 2022 and Billboard’s All Genre 50 Best Albums of 2022 (So Far). Schooled on icons like Keith Whitley, George Strait, Alan Jackson and John Anderson, but inspired by modern masters like Dierks Bentley and Gary Allan, King first built an independent, grass-roots following on the strength of his electrifying live shows – each one a harrowing mix of rowdy roughnecking, romantic tenderness and breathtaking emotion – never asking for permission to explore his creative vision. He has since gone on to headline all across the U.S., the U.K. and Europe, where he continues to play nearly 150 shows a year and hone his craft where it matters most. Named a Country Artist to Watch by everyone from Pandora and Country Now to Music Mayhem Magazine, his sophomore major label album Into the Neon, available now, takes that craft to the next level, as King’s neo-traditional roots meet the blood-pumping rhythms and sharp, arena-sized grooves of Y2K-era country and beyond. Co-produced by King and Jared Conrad, and featuring 18 tracks, punchy sounds exist side-by-side with timeless swagger, further blurring the line between yesteryear and today – even as King renews his forever-country vows. Into The Neon was named among the best country albums of the year (so far) by Whiskey RiffCountry Now & Entertainment Focus, and yielded King’s debut single, “I Could Be That Rain,” available now at country radio.

Tombstones In Their Eyes serve up West Coast psych flavors on new 'Asylum Harbour' LP

Los Angeles-based shoegaze / psychedelic rock collective Tombstones In Their Eyes presents their much-anticipated 'Asylum Harbour' album, released via Kitten Robot Records. Produced and engineered by Paul Roessler (45 Grave, Twisted Roots, The Screamers, Nina Hagen), known for his work with Josie Cotton, Hayley and the Crushers and Gitane Demone, this record was co-produced by the band's frontmain John Treanor and recorded at Kitten Robot Studios.

Named after a maritime phrase for a safe place to wait out a storm, 'Asylum Harbour' is an album of resurfacing, reflecting a new phase of healing after re-emerging from the pandemic. Treanor shares, "The album has been ready for some time, so it’s a relief to get it out.... Now we get to go out and play the songs from the new record live."

This follows earlier singles 'Sweet as Pie', 'I'm Not Like That', 'In Your Eyes' and the heaviest - 'I Like to Feel Good' with a video that oscillates between electrified stage performances and a chilled drive through LA, reflecting the transformation inherent in its lyrics about how one's inner strength and individuality can be a catalyst for positive change.

Tombstones In Their Eyes is made up of long-time members John Treanor (vocals & guitar), Stephen Striegel (drums), Courtney Davies (vocals) , Phil Cobb (guitar) and Paul Boutin (guitar), along with new band members Joel Wasko (bass) and Clea Cullen (vocals). This new record sees Treanor pull past the pain, numbness and chaos imbued in their previous album 'Sea of Sorrow'.

Tombstones In Their Eyes began a decade ago through demo-swapping between two childhood friends separated by geography (Treanor in LA and James Cooper in NYC). It soon grew into a full-fledged band and a healthy stream of expansive music that is laced with fuzzed out psychedelic majesty. For Treanor, writing and performing is a way to deal with anxiety and depression, to speak about a subject without being the centre of the conversation, and to express oneself in a subliminal way rather than directly. TITE's music looks out into the universe as much as it looks inward toward the soul.

The 'Asylum Harbour' album is out now, available on CD and on snazzy red vinyl, as well as digitally everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp

THE SPEED OF SOUND unveils 'Apocalypse Metropolis' from 'A Cornucopia: Victory' album.

Manchester indie rock outfit The Speed Of Sound present 'Apocalypse Metropolis', the latest offering from their album 'A Cornucopia: Victory', the second of the three-album set 'A Cornucopia: Minerva, Victory, Bounty', released via Big Stir Records.Earlier, the band shared videos for several tracks from this album - 'Apocalypse Acropolis''Underground' and 'The Same River'

Formed in 1989, The Speed of Sound is made up of father and son John Armstrong(guitars and vocals) and Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar) and John Broadhurst (drums). Their music has always been idiosyncratic and counter-intuitive, in search of something new. Creating music with lyrical bite, expanding their foundation of 1960s, punk and new wave influences, their dynamic and stylistic variation crossing borders and pushing boundaries at every opportunity.

Twinned musically with 'Apocalypse Acropolis', linked yet totally different in approach, feel and sound. 'Apocalypse Metropolis' envisions a bright, bustling, busy cityscape, of traffic noise and neon lighting creating shadows and glamour, reflecting a civilisation continuing onwards unaware of its imminent collapse. A three-line phrase skates across eight bars and then shifts in 3/4 time as Bob Dinn’s glorious trumpet is given free rein while ascending piano and vocal harmonies combine with a first Speed Of Sound usage of a string section. This is the very definition of the unexpected.

Full of ambition, energy and melodic brilliance, this three-album deluxe edition is available on vinyl and CD. Accompanying the earlier-released 'Minerva' album, The Speed of Sound shared videos for the hauntingly spacious 'Trickledown', the stratospherically vast 'The Great Acceleration', the uplifting 'Mind Palace' and 'West Wind', where a recklessly fast rhythm merges with a Wagnerian horn section.

Grounded yet trippy, this song brings a sobering view of the future. A 12-string picking pattern gives way to elevated vocals and overdrive, all while surveying a dead civilisation of industrial ruins and artefacts overtaken by nature, reclaiming the crumbling walls and empty windows of once self-important commercial buildings. All the workplace stress and crushing pressure of deadlines amounted to nothing. Industrial decay merges, becoming inseparable from the ruins of war which drives so much of that trade.

Following 2021's critically acclaimed album 'Museum Of Tomorrow', this trilogy sees the band returns triumphant, defiant and redemptive, marking their 35th anniversary. Most music is never even recorded, and most recorded music remains unheard. 'Victory' is a celebration of this unheard underground music and the counterculture itself - music made for the pleasure of making it.

'Victory' includes 14 wide-ranging pieces of unheard and highly contagious fresh and unexpectedly shape-shifting grooves. From the supremely danceable 'Underground'through the unabashed sensuality of 'Monsoon' to the gothic lounge jazz of 'Permafrost' and the strangely linked pairing of 'Apocalypse Acropolis' and 'Apocalypse Metropolis', they offer something special here.

From the hypnotic orange-and-sandalwood scented wisps of masala rock in 'Rock Paper Scissors', acoustic powered spaceflight 'in From The Cradle To The Stars' and the reckless garage punk punch of 'Go For It', it becomes clear. There is the data scraping warning of 'X-Y Axis', the post-nostalgia of 'The Same River',and swaggering rock with a pinch of Brazilian sway in 'A Walk By The Sea', while 'E to F' displays glam rock tendencies and a pinball metaphor before the soaring harmonies of 'Empathic Reaction' and ending with the triumphant shimmering elegance of 'Tranquility Falls'.

The full trilogy 'A Cornucopia: Minerva, Victory, Bounty' is out now and can also be obtained on CD or vinyl.

SKUNK ANANSIE Release Brand New Single "An Artist Is An Artist" + Video!

British rock icons SKUNK ANANSIE have released their brand new single "An Artist Is An Artist". Their first new music in almost three years, it finds the acclaimed four-piece at the peak of their powers and is a witty, provocative, pulsating slice of spiky, new-wave brilliance.

Tackling everything from ageism to our current need for approval in the digital age, "An Artist Is An Artist" somehow seems to hark back to the band’s vitriolic debut single, "Little Baby Swastikkka," in terms of its confrontational quality. It also reaffirms the fact that SKUNK ANANSIE is part of Britain’s proud agit-pop lineage that extends back to The Slits, whilst also conjuring up the wordplay of Ian Dury.

Watch the Music Video for “An Artist Is An Artist” below.

Produced by David Sitek of TV On The Radio fame, known for his production work with Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Santigold, Solange, Weezer, and Chelsea Wolfe, "An Artist Is An Artist" is the surprising first taste of what’s to come from the band in 2025. Reinvigorated after a period of introspection, their work with Sitek has seen the band twist and turn, stepping out of their comfort zone and re-shaping themselves into a lean and vital musical machine, ready to take on the world once more.

“His name seemed to be on a lot of records that we liked. But none of the records sounded the same. The records all sounded fresh, but mainly the artists all sounded like themselves,” says Skin of the producer.

“He basically reminded us that the process of making music didn’t need to be that complicated. When you start a band it never is, so it was a good reminder of that, and he got us to strip things right down,” continues guitarist Ace.

Listen to "An Artist Is An Artist" HERE

Originally based around a trademarked, hulking Skunk riff, the band listened to Sitek as he reduced the tune to its most primal essence. Then, he decided that they needed to add a sax solo. “I fucking hate sax!” grimaces Skin, “then this really cool fucking dude walks in and played sax like I’ve never heard it before, and at that point my mantra became, just trust The Dave.”

Strangely, what should have felt uncomfortable sounds utterly natural, and the band’s performance in the multi-coloured lyric video showcases how fresh, vital, current, and contemporary they are, a rare feat for a multi-million-selling group three decades on from their very first release.

"An Artist Is An Artist" will no doubt prove to be one of the highlights of the band’s upcoming European and UK headline tour, which kicks off in Portugal on February 28th and continues through Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Poland, Denmark, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Belgium before ending in the UK with 14 shows.

SKUNK ANANSIE, formed in 1994 in London, is a seminal band, one of the first multi-racial British rock bands, who are known for their powerful sound and thought-provoking lyrics. Fronted by the charismatic and dynamic vocalist Skin, the band blends alternative rock with elements of punk and metal. They remain one of the most important and influential bands of their era.

Their debut album 'Paranoid & Sunburnt' (1995), and its follow up 'Stoosh' (1996) both hit the Top 10 album chart in the UK and with hits like "Weak" and "Hedonism," they established themselves on the international stage, helped by their stunning live performances. In 1999, SKUNK ANANSIE closed the decade out in style by releasing their third studio album, 'Post Orgasmic Chill' and headlining Glastonbury Festival, before surprisingly going on a lengthy hiatus in 2001.

The band reconvened in 2008 to embark on the second chapter of their career, releasing three acclaimed albums - 2010’s 'Wonderlustre,' 2012’s 'Black Traffic,' and 2015’s 'Anarchytecture.' In 2019, the band marked their 25th anniversary with '25LIVE@25,' a live album that brings together the greatest songs from their six studio albums.

Throughout their career, SKUNK ANANSIE has sold over five million records globally. The band’s international prominence continues to thrive today, selling out live arenas and headlining festivals across the continent.

SKUNK ANANSIE is celebrated for addressing political and social issues through their music and breaking racial and gender barriers in rock. Their influence extends beyond music, contributing to discussions on identity, equality, and activism.

THE BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA’S 2000 ALBUM VAVOOM! FEATURING “GETTIN’ IN THE MOOD” RE-ISSUE DROPS IN MARCH ON LIMITED 180G COLORED VINYL.

The Brian Setzer Orchestra is a swing band formed in 1992 by Stray Cats frontman Brian Setzer. Their debut self titled album was released in 1994, and was followed up in 1996 with Guitar Slinger. In 1998, for their breakout album The Dirty Boogie, the group covered Louis Prima's "Jump, Jive An' Wail", which originally appeared on Prima's 1957 album The Wildest! and found themselves with a runaway hit! The album’s success led to a massive tour which ran from fall of 1998 through the summer of 1999, including a performance at the infamous Woodstock 1999. The Dirty Boogie’s success was capped off with a Grammy win for Brian’s version of “Sleepwalk” for Best Pop Instrumental in 1999. That would just be the first Grammy that Brian would bring home with the Orchestra.

With the success of the recent Guitar Slinger and The Dirty Boogie reissues from the Brian Setzer Orchestra we are now excited to announce for the first time on vinyl since 2000, Vavoom!. Remastered on 180g vinyl in two amazing Limited-Edition Colors. There are only 300 of The Americano and 700 of the Caravan Yellow. Vavoom! is the fourth release from the Brian Setzer Orchestra featuring “Pennsylvania 6-5000” and “Getting’ In the Mood”. Setzer uses his Rock-a-Billy style in league with some of the best standards from the big band era to produce some very cool finger snapping, get-up-and-dance
tunes.

Watch “Getting’ In the Mood” below.

Vavoom! continues Setzer’s interpretation of the swing era, and he has made classic songs of a bygone era accessible again to a new audience, with classics like “Mack The Knife”, and “Caravan” which won him a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance in 2001 for his arrangement.

NITE Announce New Album 'Cult of the Serpent Sun'

When darkness descends, NITE flies high with blackened heavy metal.

After venturing through space on their last album, NITE has returned to face the shadowy mythology that lay dormant beneath society's underbelly. Each of the eight epic battles on Cult of the Serpent Suntests the band's mettle. But amidst their new album's winding perils, NITE emerges triumphant. Lead single "Crow (Fear the Night)" is a rallying cry, calling for fists to rise with power and might.

Watch the classic and cultish video for "Crow (Fear the Night)" below.

Ever since they banded together out of San Francisco's underground in 2018, NITE has carried the torch for Bay Area metal. On Cult of the Serpent Sun, these four heavy metal avengers triple down on their classic arsenal. "Crow (Fear the Night)" swoops into the heat of battle with talons drawn. Like two birds of the same feather, the duel leads of Van Labrakis and Scott Hoffman climb on the back of drummer Patrick Crawford's foundation-shaking march.

Cult of the Serpent Sun carries a "more-is-more" philosophy, guided by what NITE garnered on the road. Since their last studio stint, the band have stormed the stage at Northwest Terror Fest, toured California with fellow statesmen Persekutor and Haunt and marched across the Southwest on the road to Hell's Heroes VI.

"Fans really responded to older songs like 'Acheron' and 'Genesis'", Labrakis says. "Cult of the Serpent Sun has more songs that are fast and upbeat and help lift people's spirits".

Cult of the Serpent Sun also sharpens NITE's signature edges with fresh venom. "We play a traditional style of heavy metal, but the blackened element takes us in a different direction", Labrakis says. His road-hardened voice strikes fear into the album's serpentine foes. "Fear the night", he warns, backed by bassist Avinash Mittur, who wields his bruising Rickenbacker with a spike-gloved fist.

"'Crow (Fear the Night)' is a call to those on the edge, a beckoning cry out of the shadows into the light", says NITE. "The headbanging masses band together under a sinister banner, leaving exile and finding themselves stronger as the cult of the serpent sun rises".

The video for "Crow (Fear the Night)" was directed by Marcelle Marais (Marcellemarais.com).

GILLSAW UNLEASHES DEBUT SINGLE "RIZEN"

"Rizen" marks the debut single from Gillsaw, a powerful fusion of industrial and heavy metal with atmospheric soundscapes and theatrical flair. The song delves into the disturbed psyche of a man who conjures a deity named Rizen during his descent into madness.

Band Bio:

Gillsaw is the brainchild of Bay Area musician Jole Gills, a drummer and sonic experimenter with a lifelong passion for music. His eclectic influences range from industrial pioneers like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails to progressive metal giants like Devin Townsend and Tool, with detours into the experimental realms of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and the cinematic soundscapes of Danny Elfman. Even the ambient textures of new age artists like Steve Roach find their way into the mix. All these elements converge to create Gillsaw's unique and captivating sound.

THE HALO EFFECT - new album 'March Of The Unheard' out NOW

The pioneers of melodic death metal are back, and they’re ready to redefine the genre they helped create. THE HALO EFFECT, a band formed by some of the most iconic names in the Gothenburg metal scene, today proudly announces the release of their highly anticipated new album, March Of The Unheard.

More than just a nod to their iconic roots, March Of The Unheard boldly announces that melodic death metal is still evolving. Thirty years after their members first propelled the Gothenburg sound to global prominence, THE HALO EFFECT proves there’s no shortage of fresh ideas and electrifying energy in the genre.

As a testemony of the album’s ferocity, THE HALO EFFECT has released a stunning video for the lead single 'What We Become'. A quintessential display of the Gothenburg sound, the track is a masterclass in melodic aggression, featuring razor-sharp guitar leads, driving percussion, and shout-along hooks that have kept metalheads enthralled for generations.

The video perfectly captures the song’s intensity and the band’s vision.

Frontman Mikael Stanne comments:”The wait is over! Our second album drops today and we could not be more proud of this one. The level of confidence, experience and love of the craft is beyond evident in these songs and to finally be able to share it with all you feels amazing. First up though, just to make sure that you get the album on day one, is our brand new video for the song 'What We Become'! This song is all about how our emotions can break us down and transform our very being through depression, self doubt and insecurity.
The video which we shot in an ice cold barn in the middle of nowhere with director
Johan Carléngives the song the right kind of mystique and sense of being forgotten or silenced. Enjoy!”

ABOUT THE HELLACOPTERS

Less than three years after their triumphant, chart-storming comeback record, Eyes Of Oblivion, which entered at #1 in their home country, on #3 in Germany, and #6 in Finland, Sweden's most consistently great rock outfit is back with another banger of an album called Overdriver, due out on January 31st, 2025.

In the meantime, THE HELLACOPTERS have celebrated their triumphant return by playing a show with the mighty Iron Maiden in Gothenburg in July 2022, and gigs with Ghost in Germany in June 2023, apart from their own string of headline shows throughout Europe. Eager to keep the rock flowing, February 16th, 2024 saw THE HELLACOPTERS release not one, but two stunning versions of their classic Grande Rock album, which was originally released in 1999. Grande Rock Revisited included a remastered original version and a remixed and partially re-recorded version as a companion piece, showing how the album could have sounded in a parallel universe with guitarist Dregen being in the band at the time. After making rock grande again, the group set sights on new material, debuting the phenomenal single 'Stay With You'  in May 2024 and releasing it as a limited 7-inch via Lightning Records.

Their ninth full-length Overdriver was recorded at Strawberry Studio & The Honk Palace and is the first HELLACOPTERS album entirely produced by Nicke Andersson. As you might expect from a HELLACOPTERS album it's filled to the brim with roaring guitars and earth-shattering grooves, fist-raising energy, and anthemic choruses, while keeping the variety richer than ever before. The striking cover for Overdriver was created by German illustrator Max Löffler.

Ian Anderson had been saying for months following the release of RökFlöte that he would embark on a new project in late 2023. He waited only a few weeks before the first notions began to solidify into some drafted words of intent and in May 2024, some unfinished music recorded earlier with John O'Hara, David Goodier and James Duncan became the starting point for the new songs as they took shape.

Writing the lyrics and melodies for all the newly written material came very quickly once he began in earnest during June and just seemed to slot right in to the musical feel and styles of the earlier recordings.

Anderson's writing here is often on a more personal level of lyric content than we are used to hearing. Interspersed with his usual observational descriptions are the slightly more heart-on-sleeve moments of soul-baring – albeit not on the topics more often paraded by the usual I-me lyric merchants of pop and rock.

Some of the songs are developed from unfinished instrumental demos made some years ago although this does not result in a huge stylistic divide to jump out at the listener. Apart from the signature flute solos and melodies, accordion, mandolin, acoustic and tenor guitars feature on several tracks too, so the subtle backdrop of acoustic and folk rock serves to remind of the Tull heritage of the 70s.

The band consists of:

Ian Anderson – Flutes, vocals, acoustic guitar, tenor guitar, mandolin, odds and sods, bits and bobs
David Goodier - Bass guitar
John O’Hara - Piano, keyboards, accordion
Scott Hammond – Drums
Jack Clark – Electric guitar

The album also features:

James Duncan – Drums, cajón, percussion
Andrew Giddings – Piano, keyboards, accordion
