LOLITSLEA Drops Neon Pop Punk Single "Favorite Singer"

Your summer anthem is officially here! lolitslea is doubling down on her signature neon pop-punk style and combining the boldness of punk and the colors of pop on her new single "Favorite Singer."

The singer is known for infiltrating Instagram's emo explore pages with her unmissable blue and green hair.  She has reached over 30 million users on Instagram and TikTok, and garnered show-stopping features on and with idobi Radio, Emo Nite, SPIN, Jesea Lee, Scene Daddy, and more. lolitslea is tapping into the glory days of Warped Tour pop-punk with fresh, straightforward lyrics that hit hard for today's generation of alt-kids. This single is a sneak peek of more music to come later this year.

"An anthemic, classic pop-rock tune that you can jump up and down to, 'Favorite Singer' is about getting an invite to the hottest holiday party of the year while your Plus 1 fumbles the bag," says lolitslea. "The solution? Invite one of your faves instead. You'll still be pining over your original date, but at least he'll sit at home with FOMO."

ABOUT LOLITSLEA:
Growing up in the small, yet touristy beach town of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, lolitslea was homegrown from every and all kinds of music that came out of the Asbury Park alternative scene and Warped Tour era. The independent artist has intertwined the boldness of punk and the colors of pop to bring back the bright sounds of the Neon Pop Punk scene we all grew to love in the mid-2000s. Think Artist Vs Poet or early Fall Out Boy.

After topping the charts with her college a cappella group (Twisted Measure), lolitslea set off to grow her project. lolitslea's sound has been produced and developed by emo icons such as Chase Coy (formally with Universal Music Group), Tom Denney (formerly A Day To Remember), and Roye Robley (Meet Me @ The Altar, Fluorescents), with features from Kellin Quinn (Sleeping With Sirens), Bemo Rouge, Joshua Roberts (Magnolia Park), glimmers, Smooth Brain, and more to come.

lolitslea is finishing up her debut full-length to be released October 2024. Following that, she'll be busy in writing sessions with Dan Swank (All Time Low, Taylor Acorn), Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday), Cameron Walker, and many more.

Electronic Group Deep AL Brindle Share Video for "Lost"

Los Angeles-based electronic group Deep AL Brindle — comprised of Diego Castellanos and Alastair Wilson — recently announced their debut album Are You Nervous? The record arrives on July 12 via Tooth & Nail Records. Pre-order it here.

The band's music is often a master class in smooth, chill vibes, and today, Deep AL Brindle have shared the video for "Lost." Watch it below

"It's about the complexities of being in a love relationship with someone, never knowing if you're right or wrong," the band says, offering a glimpse into the universally relatable topic.

Deep AL Brindle fashion vibrant and vital electronic soundscapes around a core of live instrumentation with a heartbeat maintained by real drums. After building a rabid hometown following, gaining traction on streaming platforms, and landing a deal with Tooth & Nail Records, the group's two distinct personalities and styles congregate in one ever-evolving vision on their full-length debut album, Are You Nervous? "We bring a counter balance to one another," Castellanos says. "We challenge each other's tendencies, which is cool. As a drummer, Alastair brings the life back into the songs, and his presence reassures me that, as the saying goes, 'Two minds are better than one.'"

"It's really been a journey," adds Wilson. "I'm glad we're on it together."

A few years back, the pair initially bonded as friends. Soon, this friendship manifested as a creative partnership where they spent countless hours jamming and making music together. During 2019, Deep AL Brindle formally came to life with the release of CTRL V, followed by a string of buzzing singles. Tooth & Nail took notice, and the pair inked a deal with the label. They continued to create at a prolific pace, decamping to Mexico City at the end of 2023 to lay the foundation for what would become Are You Nervous? On this trip, Alastair tracked the majority of his drums at an intimate studio as they absorbed the energy of their surroundings. "It was my first time going to Mexico City," he states. "I grew up skateboarding, and that culture is strong there. We were visiting skate shops, and the studio experience was amazing. The food was great too."

Along the way, they made a conscious decision to place Castellanos' vocals front-and-center on the LP. Encouraged by crowd reactions at shows, they chose to "spice it up a bit."

Deep AL Brindle are ultimately creating a place to escape to with the record and much more to come. “This is a prelude of what we’re going to be. It's just the beginning," says Wilson.

Out Country Artist Chris Housman Has "High Hopes" with New Video

Praise for Blueneck:
“…absolutely great straight ahead country in the classic 1990s
Randy Travis, Garth, Dwight Yokam vein.” - NPR All Songs Considered Best Album Pick

“He might be the ‘gayme-changer’ the country music field needed.” - USA Today

“Must Hear…melds a ’90s country sound with songs that reflect Housman’s own truths and journey” -  Billboard

“songwriting that honors the genre's classic era” and “folds progressive notions like honoring drag queens into the mix” - Tennessean

“solidly country music from a queer perspective” - The DISCovery Award by Music Row

"an affecting and arresting debut album” - Instinct Magazine

As Pride Month comes to a close, queer country artist Chris Housman is ending the celebration on a high with the release of his music video for “High Hopes.” The playful track, written by Housman and Jerry Fuentes, opens his critically-acclaimed debut album, Blueneck, released May 31, and offers a refreshing take on the heaviness of the world with his banjo-driven instrumentation.

Featured this week on “CBS Sunday Morning’s” digital platforms, Housman shares of the song, “In a world where there seems to be a new catastrophic event every day, I had the idea for this song from a level of peace I strive for in life - a place where no amount of bad news today can take away my ‘High Hopes’ for a better tomorrow.”

The new clip, directed by Ford Fairchild, premiered with Popculture yesterday and finds the out singer/songwriter scouring The Troubling Times before finding his “High Hopes.” Shot in downtown Chattanooga on one of only four operational carousels in the state of Tennessee, the 100-year old amusement park ride offered the perfect aesthetic for the recreational video.

Housman shared exclusively with Popculture, “(my) co-writer, and I had the idea. We were just talking about how, ‘oh I wish I could just be on a horse, just walking.’ The horse doesn't need to be running, just sitting, (me) in Western attire or something.... like, ‘Dang, that'd be awesome.’ Then he threw out the idea of, ‘Oh, what if you were on a carousel?’ They were like, ‘Yeah, let's find a carousel.’”

Watch “High Hopes” below

Called “one of Nashville's most authentically soulful singer-songwriters “ by the Tennessean, the man USA Today declared a “gayme-changer” has brought together both a queer and country sensibility with this project that, to many, might seem at odds with one another. Yet backed by a rich six string sound, he delivers a classic twang infused with his Kansas baritone to gently, yet unapologetically, speak his truth at every turn. Listen to Blueneck HERE

An NPR All Songs Considered Best Album pick noting, “…he is making beautifully crafted music that any classic country fan would love,” Housman co-wrote all 13 tracks on the album, offering a musical bridge for a divided time. Called “irresistible” by Rolling Stone, with “Good Morning America” praising him for “making waves,” and Billboard hailing him as a beacon for “outcasts in the genre,” Housman’s message is a simple one: “Country music is for everyone.” Given the over 5 million streams and 275,000 online followers for an independent artist, it's clearly a message that the world wants to hear.

The native mid-westerner’s country credentials go beyond his music though. He was born and raised in Hanston, Kansas, the epitome of small-town America with a population of just 200. His childhood was rooted in the rural and the conservative, growing up on a farm and living for Country music. “At 7 years old, I loved going to Country jam sessions with my family. I would get mesmerized by this guy Tom, who played fiddle,” recounts Housman, “At Christmas, I got a fiddle from Santa, and I picked it up and ran from there.”

His talent was quickly apparent, and by the age of 8, he was performing with the family band, playing in venues across the state. Over time he would add other strings to his bow, learning to sing, play guitar, upright bass, piano, saxophone, spoons, banjo, and even whistle at a competitive level.

“I played a ton of shows as a kid,” he recalls, “but my relationship with Country changed when I turned 18 and I came out as gay.” He moved to Nashville to attend Belmont on an academic scholarship and stopped playing for some time. “I thought, ‘I can continue to be comfortable and out and gay, or I can do country music, but I definitely can’t do both.’" For a while, that was that.

However, the world of country music never quite let Housman go. After years working behind the scenes doing copyright and licensing for other artists, Housman couldn’t ignore the call of the stage anymore. It was a freak accident that brought him back into the fold. In 2014, Housman broke his neck, a shock to the system that made him realize he hadn’t moved to Nashville to just work on other peoples' music. After a brief stint in a duo, he began writing and performing at colleges across the country solo.

In fact, a number of tracks on his debut album have already been resonating with fans. Title track “Blueneck,” a welcoming homespun manifesto that proudly declares “Y’all means all,” went viral on TikTok taking the burgeoning singer from 72 followers to hundreds of thousands overnight and hit No. 1 on the iTunes country chart, No. 4 on iTunes all-music chart, and peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Digital Country chart.

Other previously released tracks like “Bible Belt,” an examination of religious trauma, and the fable-like “Drag Queen,” which celebrates a teacher of the year who goes from Michael to Michelle after hours, continued the dialogue between his genre and his lived experience. The clever wordplay and radio-friendly pop-country sounds made these songs instant hits with his rapidly expanding fanbase and expedited the release of his debut album.

“It feels like my life’s work. The thing I’ve been making since I picked up the fiddle at 7,” Housman effuses “It’s pretty upbeat and positive but it’s also my soul, my truth.”

The album’s recent release “Guilty as Sin” saw its music video premiere in Times Square through CMT with Queerty calling it "defiantly gay" and generating 350,000 views in just three weeks. A special moment to be sure for an independent artist. However, for Housman, the greatest gift has been the response from fans.

“I see a lot of people out there who grew up loving country music, but gravitated away from it because they didn’t feel welcome there anymore,” shares the tattooed troubadour. “When those people tell me I helped them finally feel seen in the genre…that’s already living the dream as far as I’m concerned.”

Housman is one of six participants in this year’s Equal Access Development Program, an intensive artist and management training initiative created by CMT and management company mtheory to support underrepresented voices in country music.

About Chris Housman:
If Harlan Howard was right when he said “country music is three chords and the truth,” then Chris Housman is one of the best qualified artists working in Country today. Beyond the classic twang, rich six string backed sound, and disarming Kansas baritone, his offerings in the genre gently, yet unapologetically, speak his truth at every turn. As an openly gay country artist and songwriter, he meticulously brings together two worlds that, to many, are at odds with one another. Whether it’s the metaphoric “Drag Queen” which celebrates a small-town teacher who goes from Michael to Michelle after hours, or the viral sensation “Blueneck,” a welcoming homespun manifesto that proudly declares “y’all means all,” Housman’s music offers a musical bridge in a divided time. Called “irresistible” by Rolling Stone, with “Good Morning America” praising him for “making waves,” and Billboard staunchly affirming him as a saving grace for “outcasts in the genre,” Housman’s message is a simple one: “Country is for everyone.” Given his over 5 million streams and 275,000 online followers, it's clearly a message that the world wants to hear.

In a world that frequently romanticizes new beginnings and far-off destinations, Dalton Dover, an Aragon, Georgia native and current resident, releases an anthem celebrating the powerful bond between an individual and their hometown with “Here’s The Deal,” available now via Mercury Nashville.

“When I first heard ‘Here’s The Deal,’ I immediately knew I wanted to cut it. It’s the perfect song to pay tribute to the place where my journey began and a place that will always be a part of my story,” shares Dover. “Growing up in Aragon and still living there is such a big part of my identity, along with the people there who make it special. This song is for them, but it’s also for anyone who appreciates where they’re from.”

Ian Munsick Releases Haunting “Cheyenne”

Wyoming native Ian Munsick is ushering in a new chapter of music with his latest release, “Cheyenne,” a haunting love song penned and produced by Munsick and Jeremy Spillman, available now. Listen below.

“‘Cheyenne’ marks the beginning of the next chapter of my musical story,” Munsick shares. “It’s been over a year since the release of my last album White Buffalo, and through that project I’ve been led to where I am today.”

“Cheyenne” is another example of Munsick’s vow to “bring the west to the rest” and a further reinforcement of his reputation, as opined by HITS Daily Double and The New Yorker alike, for putting the “western back in country.” An ode to his home state and its renowned rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days – held each July – “Cheyenne” paints a portrait of a fleeting love between a man grounded in his roots and a woman as untethered as the rodeo itself.

“They say great artists reinvent themselves and that’s always my number one goal with every new project. You will always hear what inspires me creatively: family, faith, and the west. But sonically, this new music will hit different,” Munsick promises. “‘Cheyenne’ is the cornerstone of what you can expect from me as we embark on this next voyage into the western world through my eyes and ears. I hope you enjoy the ride.”

Munsick recently concluded his sold-out Red Rocks Amphitheatre headlining debut alongside friends and family on June 5. After stampeding through his 24 song set filled with surprise moments, Munsick’s family expanded by the end of the night when The Crow Tribe joined him on-stage, officially adopting him as part of their tribe.

This Fall, Munsick will return to the Rocky Mountain region with his Country & WESTern Tour presented by Boot Barnwith nine shows throughout the west. Munsick is currently headlining his Boots, Buckles & Bolos Tour, and can be seen on select dates of Lainey Wilson’s Country’s Cool Again Tour this summer.

About Ian Munsick:
A native son of Wyoming, Ian Munsick painted a stampeding, spirited portrait of the American West with his sophomore album White Buffalo, out now. Spanning unfiltered tales of romance and ranch life, hard-working anthems with honkytonk hooks and mountain-time odes to family and forever-young fun, it builds upon the spacious roots-pop beauty he introduced on his major label debut, Coyote Cry. Now, Munsick is preparing to release a deluxe version of the album, including five new tracks, titled White Buffalo: Introduce You To God on April 5, 2024. Over the past four years, Munsick has accumulated nearly 750 million global streams and a host of accolades. He has been named an “Artist to Watch” by Spotify, CMT, Fender, MusicRow and most recently was named a Martin Showcase Artist. A seasoned entertainer, having grown up tending cattle by day and playing music in a family band each night, Munsick toured recently alongside country music superstars Morgan Wallen and Cody Johnson, and will serve as direct support for select dates of Lainey Wilson’s Country’s Cool Again tour this year, while simultaneously headlining his own Boots, Buckles & Bolos Tour. The Warner Music Nashville recording artist and multi-instrumentalist is representing his home, and its special cast of people, like never before. The first release from White Buffalo, standout duet “Long Live Cowgirls” (with Cody Johnson), hit No. 1 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown, was named one of Amazon Music’s Best Country Songs of 2022 and recently received RIAA Gold-certification alongside “Long Haul” off his debut album Coyote Cry and “Horses Are Faster”. Fans of Ian Munsick will always find an open heart, natural awe and plainspoken honesty as he rides on… bringing the West to the rest. Online at IanMunsick.com.

Matt Wilier’s ‘Variations’ album is now on all platforms

Matt Wilier began improvising on piano at the age of 5, with no knowledge of music other than his own feelings and sensations. After practicing for a few years, it was at the music conservatory that he discovered technique and then classical music.

From the age of 12, he would fall asleep listening to Keith Jarrett’s solo piano albums, including ‘The Köln Concert’ and ‘La Scala’. During the same period, after having studied the Romantics (and Chopin’s rubato), he was captivated by impressionist music and became fascinated by the French movement ‘Les Six’. But ultimately, he considers ‘Gaspard de la Nuit’ by Maurice Ravel to be one of the most beautiful piano works.

While retaining his initial desire for improvisation, he threw himself into minimalist and repetitive music, freeing himself from judgement and taking an interest in sonic resonances, frequencies and vibrations of the piano as proof of the passage of time.

In 2019, he released his first EP ‘Jours’, a collection of older improvised recordings, and chose to regularly release tracks resulting from his process of creation with the French label, Bruit Blanc.

‘Variations’, his new 11-track album, will be released on 28th June 2024. The recording of this album was no exception, with Matt once again focusing on resonances. ‘Variations’ is built in the same way, with changing melodies, harmonies and rhythms.

However, this time the piano is not alone, with strings, strings layers, ensemble, and analog bass frequencies as accompaniment.

This album is built like an original movie soundtrack. Images flash by as you close your eyes and listen to it.

Matt is already working on a new solo piano double album, with another version which is its cello and piano reflection… but that’s another story for another time.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,” croons multi-hyphenate superstar Miranda Lambert on current single “Wranglers,” which arrived last month as the biggest streaming debut of her career. Now, Stereogum’s “single greatest country star to come along this century” doubles down on her signature theme of empowerment as a woman liberated on “Dammit Randy,” a rousing anthem about reclaiming independence. “This song came out of a conversation the night before Jon Randall and I went into the studio to make this album,” Lambert shared. “We were talking about how excited we were to be starting this journey with a new label family (Republic and Big Loud) and how supported we felt by them, which turned into chatting about situations where you might not feel so supported by someone – in this song’s case, an unappreciative Randy. This powerful and emotive track serves as the lead single for his upcoming album, slated for release later this year. Daniel plans to unveil a series of pre-release singles in the coming months, each accompanied by a visualizer—a zoomed-in segment of a complete music video that will be revealed with the full album launch. Written by Daniel, "Other People" is the first piece of this visual puzzle, offering fans a glimpse into the deeply personal story behind the music.

"Other People" delves into Daniel’s own experiences, reflecting on a profound and personal loss. "This song was written from a very personal place. It’s about someone I was very, very close to, and we aren’t in touch anymore," Daniel explains. "They shut me out of their life, and now they’re no longer in it. The song originated from a title I had, 'I still see you in other people,' because I used to see TV shows and could see someone that reminded me of this person. For a second, I’d think, ‘I’m seeing this person in someone else.’ Whether it’s the way someone talks, someone’s facial expression, or just someone’s energy, I just kept seeing that person in other people."

Daniel Arison's music is known for its emotional depth and universal appeal, garnering millions of views on YouTube alone. Growing up in Miami, Florida, within the influential Arison family, known for their significant contributions to both the business and philanthropic sectors, Daniel was exposed to a rich diversity of cultures and musical styles from a young age. This unique upbringing has profoundly shaped his artistic vision, enabling him to create music that resonates on a deep emotional level.

MORE INFO:
Daniel’s
journey into music began early, with a natural inclination towards learning multiple instruments and experimenting with songwriting. His childhood was steeped in an environment that fostered creativity and self-expression. Daniel's artistic talents also extended into acting, which he pursued all throughout his younger years, further showcasing his versatility.

In his music, Daniel Arison masterfully weaves intricate stories that explore themes of love, identity, and personal growth, drawing from his own diverse life experiences. His songs are a testament to his deep introspection and emotional honesty, qualities that have endeared him to fans around the world.

TURMION KÄTILÖT - RELEASE NEW SONG 'SCHLACHTER'

Today Finnish industrial metallers TURMION KÄTILÖT release their brand new song 'Schlachter' It´s the band’s first track sung in German and features Chris Harms of LORD OF THE LOST.

MC Raaka Pee comments: "Schlachter" deals, as its name suggests, with themes related to slaughter, which refer both to concrete slaughtering but also metaphorical meanings, such as mental or societal tearing and destruction. The idea for making this track began from wanting to challenge my younger self by making a remix of our first single, "Teurastaja." As per usual, things got positively out of hand, and the track became our first single made in German. Chris edited the text to reflect the mood of today’s world. The beat of the hammer can take you anywhere!”

Fearless Signs chokecherry, Band Shares "Afterglow" Video

FEARLESS RECORDS is pleased to announce that it has signed San Francisco shoe gaze x grunge pop trio chokecherry — comprised of vocalist/guitarist Izzie Clark and bassist/vocalist E. Scarlett Levinson, along with drummer Abri Crocitto — to its global roster.

The group has been steadily building a buzz since meeting on dating app Hinge. The San Francisco Gate praised chokecherry's "blend of white-hot shoegaze," calling it "the modern sound of the California sun vaporizing the San Francisco fog," all the while accurately predicting that chokecherry are on the verge of blowing up.

Today, the band debuts its new single "Afterglow."

 Watch the video below

"Afterglow" is both an air-swept and grunge-soaked anthem flecked with snotty dissonance, showcasing just how special the band is. "Afterglow" was carefully selected as the first listen from chokecherry's forthcoming EP and the song is a masterclass in emotive songwriting — and is the instantly relatable result of a painful breakup.

The vintage vibes and dreamy soundscape suits this group of creatives so well, which is further championed by the song's magical music video directed by Breanna Lynn. Overall, the song is a journey in self-reflection, love lost, letting go, and moving forward. It also hints at the heavier influences that the band incorporates in the upcoming EP, the details of which will be revealed in due course.

"This song was born during a bad breakup that I absolutely brought on myself," says Clark. "Post-split, I was immediately swallowed by both mostly-truthful memories and highly exaggerated fantasies of the not-so-distant past. The first verses were written on a sobbing voice memo. When we came together as a band and expanded on the idea, we made a dream-pop-turned-grunge breakup anthem that really encapsulated the experience. We hope if people hear 'Afterglow' and relate to the pain, they'll find some comfort."

Levinson adds, "We did get back together after this track was written, but shockingly enough, we still didn't work out."

Clark and Levinson may not have worked on the romantic front, but the pair are musical soulmates and it's beautiful thing to hear and to witness and hear.

Chokecherry will capture the hearts of rock fans everywhere with songs that boast thick, 70s-inspired bass lines laden with strategically placed howls and hums. Their passionate, hypnotic delivery overflows and fills into every word, allowing vulnerability that listeners can truly attach to. If their Spotify streams —2.8 million global streams and counting — are any indication of how many music fans will dig what chokecherry are putting down, then it's time for 2024 to buckle the F up.

Banks Arcade Release New EP "A Muse" + Share Video For "Heartstop"

An enticing continuation of their earlier works, the new Banks Arcade chapter solidifies today, with the group's brand new EP A Muse, out now via UNFD.

Evolving from the darker sides explored on their recent DEATH 2 EP, released in February, A Muse finds the New Zealand-hailing, Melbourne-based quartet shedding the expected and instead flourishing between moments of searing rock, towering hooks, dance beats, and fresh explorations into heavy surrounds.

A deeply personal extension of DEATH 2's chaos and sonic metamorphosis, A Muse spans six tracks and a horde of stylistic influences, from the towering shimmer of opening track "Alive" through to the infectious hooks of "Heartstop," flourishes of hip-hop ("Lost Cause"), flexed anthems ("No Future"), and raw yet polished confessionals ("Self Help").

The band also dropped the video for their recent single "Heartstop," filmed by Davis Sutclife and Jackson Bentley.

Watch the music video for "Heartstop" below.

Traversing personal issues, including relationships and internal struggles, a powerful thread of vulnerability flows throughout A Muse, with Banks Arcade also showcasing their unique superpower to avoid genre pigeon-holing while remaining compelling and cohesive.

"A Muse follows on from DEATH 2 in a much more vulnerable way," the band shares. "It covers a lot of personal issues from relationships to internal struggles and in each song I tried to speak with my own voice as much as possible as opposed to the more abstract stuff on DEATH 2."

Banks Arcade bring passion and potent execution to their myriad of influences and creative ideas. Formed over a shared love of music with a razor-sharp avant-garde aesthetic, Banks Arcade have always teetered on modernity; a fact displayed firmly on their 2018 debut EP Endnote, its 2020 follow up Fever Dreams, and the group's head-turning singles "Roses" and "Drown," both of which have gone on to amass well over two million individual streams.

Releasing their full-length Future Lovers in 2022, Banks Arcade cemented their future-facing trademark style while also turning heads courtesy of their emphatic soundscapes, searing metal and hip hop additions.

Fresh off the back of releasing DEATH 2 in February, Banks Arcade also supported metalcore titans Northlane nationally alongside ERRA and Landmvrks that same month. And after two years of non-stop touring, Banks Arcade will also hit the road in New Zealand and Australia with a brand new live show this May, with the Death 2 A Muse Tour set to compile the band's best work to date.

A MUSE — OUT NOW

The new Permafrost single ‘Wrong Heart’ is released on 4th July 2024.

“If you are a fan of the sinister menace of Interpol, the jagged guitar lines of Gang Of Four or the grandiose gloom of The Cure, here is a band which is a mix of all three but has its own unique post-punk aesthetic – Permafrost.”
XS NOIZE

“Brooding and upbeat, here we have a classically post-punk vibe with compositions still centred on starkly compelling melodies.”
AMPLIFY MUSIC

“With a powerful melody and plenty of reverb and appealing synth, there is still a charming quality here amidst this ominous hymn – impressive.”
SPILL MAGAZINE

Nearing two years since the release of ‘Come Back To Surprise’, the Nordic-British post-punk quartet Permafrost return with their latest single, ‘Wrong Heart’, on 4th July. This release kicks off the lead up to their new album, ‘The Light Coming Through’, set to unveil in October this year. In addition to the single, Mental Overdrive (aka Per Martinsen) has remixed the single, which will also be available on 4th July.

Formed originally in Molde, Norway in 1982 by school friends Frode Heggdal Larsen and Kåre Steinsbu, Permafrost has undergone numerous transformations over the years. Now joined by fellow Norwegian Robert Heggdal and Daryl Bamonte from the UK (who worked very closely with Depeche Mode and The Cure for several years), they continue to deliver the authentic post-punk sound of the early '80s. While many contemporary musicians attempt to replicate this era, Permafrost have lived it. Their latest single, ‘Wrong Heart’, has also evolved over time, ultimately resulting in a dark, bass-driven post-punk track that transports listeners back to the shadowy, goth-filled clubs of the '80s.

Alongside the single, they have released the music video for ‘Wrong Heart’. In a wholesome contrast to the song’s dark sound and nature, the video follows four young girls as they set out to create a music video. Of the video they said “In another dimension Permafrost could be a girl band. In this reality they are planning to create

a music video. They have to drag their equipment into the forest to get to the preferred spot, making it into a road movie with a lot of obstacles on the way - like grazing sheep and deer in the blossoming Norwegian nature. When they finally arrive at the spot and want to start playing, the song finishes. All that work for nothing.”

Spread across Trondheim, Oslo and Margate, Permafrost's creative process is a challenge which the band have had to overcome. During the pandemic, they held weekly video meetings to plan new songs and other band-related issues, leveraging improved long-distance collaboration technology to maintain momentum. The songwriting process typically begins with one member suggesting an idea, which bassist Robert (Bob Frost) then develops in Logic Pro, programming drums and other elements. Singer Kåre (Curry) creates a melody to match, and lyrics are selected from a collective vault they have accumulated over the years. The song is refined through a collaborative process, passing back and forth between all four members until everyone is satisfied.

Utilising their refined songwriting process, Permafrost meticulously crafted their forthcoming album, ‘The Light Coming Through’. Describing their sound as “Optimistic Melancholy” the album aims to offer inspiration and escapism during challenging times. Infusing politically charged lyrics with dark, synth-infused post-punk instrumentation, Permafrost employs metaphors to convey their message effectively.

Permafrost has built an impressive discography over the years. They debuted with the 'Godtment' EP in 1983, released on a limited edition of 50 numbered cassettes. In 2019, they followed up with the 'Permafrost' EP on vinyl, later making it available digitally in 2021. Throughout 2021, the band dropped three critically acclaimed singles. ‘Femme Fatale’ and ‘Closed Eyes’ both achieved remarkable success, reaching #1 on the Indie Disko Top40 chart, with the latter maintaining the top spot for six consecutive weeks. These singles also performed well on the Deutsche Alternative and Native25 charts, while earning placements on influential playlists such as Apple Music’s ‘New in Rock’. The third single, ‘Restore Us’, continued their streak of success by hitting #1 on the Indie Disko Top40 and the Native25 chart.

‘Wrong Heart’ and its accompanying music video will be available from 4th July whilst their upcoming album ‘The Light Coming Through’ is due to release this October. Alongside the single, Mental Overdrive (aka Per Martinsen) has remixed the single, which will also be available on 4th July.

Teardrops Announce Digital EP, Share "In My Sleep" Video — WATCH

TEARDROPS will release their five-song, digital EP Something to Cry About on July 26 via Iodine Recordings. Pre-save it here.

Today, the band has shared the video for "In My Sleep." It's a gloriously noisy and memorable post-punk jam if there ever was one. If you dig Soft Kill and METZ, you will dig TEARDROPS.

Watch the video Below.

"The worst dreams of my life showed up when our kids started walking and talking," the band's Jebb Riley says. "Dreams more vivid, detailed, and horrifying than any I'd ever experienced. I'd wake up in tears, not sure what was real and what my brain made up."

He continues, "In these situations, I was realizing the immense agony I'd caused for others; feeling their pain and witnessing their sorrow. Able to do nothing but soak in the spotlight of being the one responsible. I think it was my brain saying, 'Listen, don't mess these kids up. Actions have consequences.' Grim subject matter, hidden in a beautiful melody."

He continues, "It was the first thing [guitarist] Joe Thomas brought to the table when we invited him in. I like the idea of dark lyrics hiding out in a catchy or pretty tune. Just like the worst scenario of your life hidden beneath the veil of what you expect to be a peaceful night's sleep."

TEARDROPS are a group of four friends who like hanging out and writing songs. Each member has been in other bands, but right now we are talking about this band. TEARDROPS started in 2020 because the time was right. Sorry you are just now finding out about it. The five songs on Something to Cry About are a lead glass window into human experiences including but not limited to: beauty, confusion, joy (presence of and lack of), manipulation, epiphany, longing, regret, abject terror, liberation, helplessness, and the many faces of love. Things that make you cry. If you are human, this might resonate with you. The music sounds like TEARDROPS. TEARDROPS recorded these songs in a basement by themselves and did their best to make it sound good. Zachary Rippy handled mixing and made it sound professional. Brad Boatright mastered it so that it is properly loud. TEARDROPS will be playing shows. Bring earplugs. And tissues.

BTW, members of TEARDROPS cut their teeth in Doomriders, There Were Wires, Sexless Marriage, and Purity's Failure.

Joseph Thomas — Guitar

D.R.U.G.S. Announce New Album "Until God Shows" + Share "Losers Stay Losers (Let-down)" Video

Post-hardcore band Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.), featuring Chiodos' Craig Owens, are pleased to announce their third album UNTIL GOD SHOWS. The album — their first since 2022's DESTROY REBUILD and following their 2011-issued, self-titled debut — arrives on September 27 via Velocity Records. Pre-order it here.

The band has just dropped the video for the new single "Losers Stay Losers (Let-down)." Watch it below.

"'Losers Stay Losers' is a vivid picture of grappling with the emotional aftermath of a significant betrayal and the pain, disillusionment, anger, and distress that you have to face," Owens says. "It speaks to the profound impact the other person's actions have on your emotional well-being."

About the video, he says it's "a sequel/extension of our last video single released a few weeks back called 'Hunger Pangs.' The story continues with 'Losers Stay Losers,' and it will continue after that. Zak Pinchin is a legend in the making and working on both of the videos together to bring the ideas to life with him was a one of a kind experience. I look forward to creating with him again in the future."

Regarding the album as a whole, he states, "Until God Shows is a high energy, and fun ride through the rollercoaster world of D.R.U.G.S. Complete with a backstory, and art to bring every sound and feeling to life."

Amen to all of that! It is a welcome return for D.R.U.G.S.

D.R.U.G.S. are currently on a headline tour with Savage Hands, Downswing, and The Requiem coming along for the ride. All dates are below. Get tickets here.

Having now surpassed 10 million cumulative streams, the band's previous album DESTROY REBUILD offered listeners the uniquely nostalgic D.R.U.G.S. sound they had been craving while also exploring new territories, marking a perfect progression and exciting new chapter for Craig Owens. The aggressive melodies paired with low-tuned guitars and introspective lyrics created a slab of the nostalgic alternative rock sound that we all grew up with and have come to crave. Owens' knack for creating sincere lyrics shined through while touching on topics like destiny, perspective, and redemption on DESTROY REBUILD. It served as a physical manifestation of the course he has taken in his musical career and encapsulated each step along the way. It was a bright reflection of one's life and actions, and encouraged the listener to do the same in their own life. The third album UNTIL GOD SHOWS will prove to be yet another step in the ongoing evolution of Craig Owens.

To The Grave Announce New Album 'Everyone's A Murderer'; Drop Video For New Single "Dead Wrong"

Australian deathcore powerhouse and ardent animal rights activists, To The Grave have announced their highly anticipated new album today. Titled 'Everyone's A Murderer,' the band's third full length album is scheduled for release on August 30th via Unique Leader Records. Pre-Save HERE

Unleashed alongside the album news is their bludgeoning first single, "Dead Wrong," accompanied by an intense official music video. Stream “Dead WrongHERE and watch the official music video below

Speaking on the band’s first offering from this next chapter, To The Grave’s incendiary vocalist, Dane Evans shares

"Two solos from the dogs and hard riffs, we knew this had to be a single as soon as we made it. Getting Mike on it was a must after we fell in love with Empty Cages listening to their record on tour in the states and he killed it. The chorus for this one really pulled through and stitched it all together, for a while we didn't know what was going to go there and tried a few things but this was the first attempt at this style on the album and that take made the record."

Everyone's A Murderer’ promises to be To The Grave's heaviest and most evolved offering yet, both sonically and thematically. The album attacks societal and environmental themes with the relentless intensity the band are known for, giving voice to the voiceless via their unique, signature blend of brutally impactful deathcore.

Providing further insight on the new album, Evans shares

"For this record my aim was to speak through the faceless activists that fight for animals, for those living in vystopia feeling alone and helpless in a world that will fight tooth and nail to defend the animal holocaust. Due to it being illegal to rescue farmed animals from abuse these activists must stay silent about it to avoid having their own freedom taken.

It wasn't an easy task, it's never going to do justice to the horrors animals go through every day by the millions in cold, dark sheds around the world or to those that have witnessed it and are doing everything they can to put an end to it. There's no words, no lyrics and no music that can describe the violence or bring back the lives stolen by human hands so this is for them.

Our idea for this album evolved so much before it started but we knew we wanted something that sounded classic, like it was from a different decade entirely. It had to have all the elements that brought us all towards deathcore all those years ago combined with all the modern touches you'd find in the recent TTG material, all whilst trying to do something new and step outside our comfort zone in the process.

It was cool to work with the new lineup on the gritty details like production, tones and getting the energy of the drums down. Once the album was in a listenable state these guys really gave it all personality and brought everything to the table to shape this new sound.

We're very critical of ourselves as artists and have made music in the past that for whatever reason we haven't loved. With that in mind I think the overall goal with this record was to make something that regardless of what anyone else thought, we were proud of and I'm happy that we all had that shared vision in mind.

We probably had the most fun making this record that we've ever had and it felt liberating to be able to make something that we liked. It felt like starting the band from new again and only having the pressure of wanting to write cool shit.

The singles are tough as fuck and I think do a good job of representing the blunt force approach on the album leaving a tonne of surprises in the sharps bin for when people pick it up on release day. That should make sense when it drops."

To The Grave also announced today that they will be playing two very special album release shows on Friday, August 30th at Stay Gold in Melbourne with support from No Life (NZ) & Identity Error and Saturday, August 31st at The Lansdowne with support from No Life (NZ) & Facecutter in Sydney.

BEAST IN BLACK - release video for new song ´Power Of The Beast´

BEAST IN BLACK is known for their dynamic blend of power metal, 80s pop, and electronic music. Their critically acclaimed albums Berserker, From Hell With Love, and Dark Connection have solidified their global presence, along with notable tours and festival appearances. Their energetic live performances and unique sound have made them a standout act in the modern metal scene.

Today, BEAST IN BLACK unleash a new tune, along with a magnificent video - 'Power Of The Beast'!

This electrifying, uptempo anthem captures the essence of BEAST IN BLACK´s signature style, featuring powerful riffs, soaring vocals, and an unforgettable chorus that will have you singing along.

The video for 'Power Of The Beast' is directed by Katri Koppanen, who has previously directed BEAST IN BLACK's stunning visuals for 'Moonlight Rendezvous', 'One Night In Tokyo' and 'Hardcore'.

Mastermind Anton Kabanen comments: “'Power Of The Beast' takes us one step further in showcasing our passion towards high energy music, unstoppable beats, solid melodies, (synth)riffs and a meaningful message. It's dedicated to everyone who's in need of encouragement, motivation, determination and inner strength to aspire onward. The message of the song is like the unyielding attitude and empowering resolution of Guts, the protagonist from the manga "Berserk". That said, the lyrics are indeed a hybrid based off "Berserk" and my own lifeview and experiences.
With musical influences heavily permeated by the so called Super Eurobeat, which I have absorbed through the years, I think it's fairly justified - but obviously with a tongue in cheek - to describe this song as Super Eurobeast! It's the first of its kind but we promise you it's definitely not gonna be the last!”

Watch the video below.

Listen to the song on all platforms: https://beastinblack.bfan.link/potbsg

Music video director Katri Koppanen tells about her inspiration for the video: “I began working on the music video script when only fragments of the lyrics were available, and Anton had just a few initial ideas about the song text. Even in the early stages, it was clear that the song's message was going to be empowering and energetic, which resonated with me, especially given how dark, chaotic, and overwhelming the world has become in recent years. Quite often, I catch myself missing the innocence of movies from the 80s and 90s, where bad guys always got what they deserved. Inspired by that, I wanted to create something fun based on my favorite movies from that era—something that leaves you in a good mood at the end.”

New Noise

"The one-two punch of tight musicianship and an inclination to pummel into submission without the need for flashy antics makes for a dazzling experience" - Ghost Cult

When it comes to Japanese death metal, there is no shrewder sensei than Defiled. Since they started their training in the world's most vulgar of art forms back in the early '90s, the band have toured everywhere from their native Tokyo to Milwaukee Metal Fest with the likes of Mayhem, Incantation, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse.

Now, after 30 years of destroying the opposition at the highest level, these self-proclaimed samurai of death metal are back with their eighth album. Horror Beyond Horror is the kind of good ol' fashioned ass-kicking that only a true master can deliver.

Horror Beyond Horror comes out September 20 on Season of Mist.

Watch the video for "To See Beyond the Wall" below.

Pre-order & Stream: https://orcd.co/defiledhorrorbeyondhorror

After they first took to the stage in 1995, Defiled needed nearly a decade before finally erupting with wrath on their debut album. But ever since the band's lineup solidified around original member Yusuke Sumita, they haven't  stopped to look back and admire their war path. Horror Beyond Horror comes hot on the heels of the album they released just last year, which Metal Injection listed as one of the can't-miss releases of 2023.

Anyone who took The Highest Level at face value will be pleasantly surprised to hear that Defiled have only added another grimy coat of blood to their blade. "To See Behind the Wall" is the final boss on Horror Beyond Horror, but the album's first single wastes no time charging into the fray behind a barrage of old-school death metal. Whether they're slicing, dicing or leaping into a furiously fast solo, the riffs take no prisoners.

"The path to your elimination", Shinichiro Hamada cries, digging in amidst a flurry of blast beats, before unleashing an ungodly war cry.

"What is behind the wall?", Defiled ask on their new single. "The truth that has been hidden? Our sanity as human beings? Are we, who are inside the wall, now in a world of deceit and madness?"

From the depths of Tokyo's darkest alleys, Defiled have emerged once again, claws sharpened, eyes bloodshot, ready to unleash a fresh dose of unadulterated savagery with their latest full-length studio album, Horror Beyond Horror. Marrying the grotesque with technical prowess, these samurais of sickness are poised to carve another notch into the archives of death metal's sordid history.

Since crawling from the primordial soup of the underground scene in the early '90s, Defiled have forged a path littered with broken souls. Their journey of destruction first sank its teeth into the international jugular with Erupted Wrath, mixed by the masterful Jim Morris in Tampa, Florida. This brutal assault opened gates to a global bloodletting, from leveling stages in South Korea to crushing skulls at the Milwaukee Metalfest, and not even the November to Dismember fest could foresee the carnage they'd bring.

Commandeering the technical tightrope between anarchy and precision, Defiled evolved, much like an aberrant spawn isolated on the Galapagos, grotesque yet ultimately superior. Their subsequent onslaughts — Ugliness Revealed, Divination, and the sheer violence of In Crisis — built a monument to atrocity that ascends to new heights with Horror Beyond Horror.

Taking no prisoners in their three-decades-long campaign of terror, Defiled have become the indestructible behemoth of Asia's death metal scene, powered by the relentless engine of their oldschool roots and the twisted wreckage of technical thrash and progressive rock innovation.

But enough with the history lesson, you came here for the carnage, didn't you? Horror Beyond Horror is a 14-track massacre, riddled with riffs sharp enough to slit your throat and a rhythmic onslaught that'll pulverize your pathetic bones. Each track, from the visceral "Smoke and Mirrors" to the haunting "To See Behind the Wall", is a calculated strike, precision-engineered to leave no survivors. Let's not forget the eponymous "Horror Beyond Horror", a track that cements Defiled's legacy as harbingers of the apocalypse.

With a sound as raw as exposed nerve endings and as unrefined as a mass grave, Defiled stands defiantly apart from the polished poseurs and shameless sellouts. They don’t peddle in cheap gimmickry or nostalgia; they deal in the currency of pure, unfiltered destruction. As they look out upon the charred landscape of the genre they’ve helped to define, Defiled is not content to rest on their laurels. Horror Beyond Horror sees them, once again, ascending to the blood-soaked throne of death metal sovereignty.

Blacktoothed Share "Hell's Paradise" Video

The latest single from blacktoothed, titled "Hell's Paradise," features a mystic fusion of vocals, guitars, and cinematic elements, crafting a haunting auditory landscape. The song includes a robust chorus and an engaging hook, enhanced by the commanding vocal delivery of Felix Fröhlich from BITE.

Watch the video below. Stream the track here.

Guitarist Matti characterizes the track as capturing "the sensation of being paralyzed and trapped within one's own mind, racing against time in a paradox of ample time (paradise) yet struggling to use it wisely (hell)."

Singer Hendrik remarks, "There's always one song on every album that evolves significantly during the writing and recording process. Matti essentially wrote 'Hell's Paradise' twice. Trusting the process was crucial, and we are thrilled with the final vibe of the song, especially with Felix's contribution."

"Hell's Paradise" is now available on all major streaming platforms via Arising Empire.

The band's last album JULI was created in collaboration with the producing team of Sawdust Recordings (Christoph Wieczorek + Julian Breucker). Stream or download JULI here.

In the past few years, blacktoothed have shared stages with well known bands like Acres, Annisokay, Bad Omens, Hands Like Houses, Polaris, Thundermother, and many more, as well as through other live highlights, including opening up the IMPERICON FESTIVAL and many other open air concerts.
