SCAREFIELD Unveils Haunting New Music Video "Child of the Corn"! Debut Album, 'A Quiet Country,' An ode to 80's horror in Thrash / Power Metal form, Out NOW!

March 25, 2024 - SCAREFIELD, the electrifying, horror-infused force in the world of thrash metal, SIMONE MANULI and MARKUS KRISTOFFERSSON, invites you to enter the scarefields with their debut album, A QUIET COUNTRY. This album, in vinyl, cd, and streaming formats, contains 11 songs of pure melodic, speedy, thrash madness that is sure to leave listeners awestruck. The dreaded fields await!

A QUIET COUNTRY brings to mind vast fields of corn, cabins in old forests and unlit dirt roads leading away from the light of civilization. We chose this title for its dual meaning. While it initially suggests calmness and tranquillity, it can hint at an underlying tension or mystery: beneath the peaceful exterior of a countryside setting, there could be hidden secrets or a darker side waiting to be revealed. This duality characterizes the music and the lyrics. It is like a collection of tales in a storybook where the apparent peace of the countryside masks something sinister beneath the surface, prompting exploration and uncovering mysteries within this ostensibly tranquil setting.

This, our debut album, is the result of a long process of hard work, and we are pleased to finally be able to share it with the world" – SCAREFIELD

Told through the energetic, heavy, and melodic songs throughout the album, A QUIET COUNTRY contains a wide variety of musical styles from thrash to speed/power metal. It will remind you of many metal bands: Blind Guardian, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera.

Accompanying the album release is a story driven music video for the single "CHILD OF THE CORN," a song full of rage and regret made to touch our deepest emotions. Here, the intimate character of the opening melody is suddenly broken by the fury of guitars and raging vocals that evoke the lacerating memories of a past that cannot be healed.

All songs are written and recorded by Manuli / Kristoffersson, produced and mixed by Simone Manuli and mastered by Ronnie Björnström.

"This our debut album is the result of a long process of hard work, and we are pleased to finally be able to share it with the world."

ANCIENT EVIL is a song based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft adapted from the short story ‘The Call of Cthulhu’. The song functions simultaneously as an ode to the works by the late father of cosmic horror as well as an expression of the love we share for classic horror that permeates our music.

DEAD CENTER is heavy and trashy, simply massive. The topic explored in the song is one of ambiguity, the feeling of standing on a thin line between two choices that can never be made and the chaos within that manifests as a result. What at an outside glance may appear as madness may in fact just be an attempt at release from the mundane and perpetuality of the everyday.

ALTAR OF FEAR is a melodic song inspired by a real-life event in childhood. One summer during St Lawrence night we went to watch the shooting stars when we happened upon an abandoned house in the open countryside. Within this house we saw a group of cultists worshipping the Devil. At the time we were so afraid, we didn’t speak of it in a month after! The sentences in the chorus are borrowed from John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness.

SPECTRE expands the already massive input of genres contained within the album. Groovy, low beat, and rhythm driven, this song tells the story of a person who has just died only to wake up a ghost doomed to haunt the house of a loved one. Love keeps him imprisoned in this world. And the loved one doesn’t know about his death yet, she is scary and feels something wrong.

CHILD OF THE CORN is a song of calm, regret, chaos, and the call of the fields around the rural areas. This song is the epitome of our project: the melody follows the regrets of the past and ends up colliding with the lacerating memories evoked by the furious speed of the music and the scratchy voice.

GOD OF TERROR is an analogous story based on Greek mythology and the story of Zeus and Cronos. A fast and epic song that contains much of the harsh vocals only sparsely used throughout the album.

PRIMITIVE SHADOWS is a fast, breathtaking song. It is inspired by the dramatic sequence of the founding of the Statue of Liberty from Planet of the Apes movie. To be candid, the current events are not particularly promising in the world, we imagined how it would be easy to lose civilisation, wealth, knowledge and falling in a new dark age where mankind is just like wild primitive human beings praying their idols and living in caves. The chorus is ironic and evokes the allegory of the cave by Pluto.

DREAM, the title really says it all! This song is describing a dream sequence with both lyrics and instruments designed to make the listeners imagine the scenery described. It is carefully composed to capture the strangeness and awesomeness that can only be found in our dreams.

SHIVER is a groovy song, there’s a bit of ‘Pantera’ and a bit of ‘Metallica in it. The lyrics fit perfectly the classic horror movies from the 80’s, a Nightmare on Elm Street in particular. This was also one of the first songs we worked on together, we didn’t even have the band name at that time. It was a good way to become familiar with our songwriting.

ALWAYS is a rock ballad. The acoustic guitars and the vocal lines bring the listener to an intimate atmosphere outlined by regretful tones where the present gets confused with the memories until the culmination moment and the explosion of the electric guitars. The words in the chorus play with regret in the brain of the main character who betrayed the oath of love.

GOODBYE is a fitting song to finish of the album. In this song we attempt to capture the feeling of being on the brink of death. The song is inspired by panic attacks which for some people can feel like they’re experiencing a heart attack or a stroke. Placing it at the end of the album was fitting as the last words spoken on the album rings out saying GOODBYE…

SCAREFIELD is a speed/thrash metal band inspired by the horror genre, in particular by the colourful and bombastic 80’s horror movies. The music consists of many familiar themes of both speed and thrash metal with additional influences from more modern forms of metal music, such as melodic death metal, as well as classic heavy metal.

SIMONE MANULI, the founder of SCAREFIELD reached out from the plains of northern Italy to the frigid north of the arctic circle in northern Sweden where he would come in to contact with vocalist MARKUS KRISTOFFERSSON. The music, produced by Simone, was co-written and co-composed by the two members, melding their unique styles and influences into an interesting new take on the classic metal styles incorporated.

Self-produced and -written, the music contains massive atmosphere, fast riffs, melodic strings and heavy drums. The vocals are a mix of clean melody and power as well as the harsher death metal style vocals of the modern day. The lyrics contain topics such as personal stories, interesting concepts and of course the aforementioned horror theme!

Oceano’s ability to encode such transmission within the framework of tight, taught, and technical heavy music remains a key to their success since 2006. Over the years, the group has ignited a diehard fan base. Picking up where critically acclaimed 2015’s 'Ascendants' and 2017’s 'Revelation' left off, the band expands their patented deathcore punch with brutal heaviness and moments of unrelenting technicality and precision in their latest single, Mass ProducedOceano utilizes thought-provoking lyricism that continues to elevate them within the landscape of heavy music, a key to their success over the past decade.

RED VOODOO DROP THEIR LATEST SINGLE “STYLE,” SET TO RELEASE THEIR SAMMY HAGAR ENDORSED SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP JUNE 7

Red Voodoo is breaking out on the scene with their electric stage presence, polished harmonies, and classic but fresh new take on rock ‘n’ roll. Based out of Sacramento, CA, the group has been playing clubs since 2019 and released two singles, “Rise Up” and “Bring It Back,” in 2020. This led to opening spots for heavy hitters in rock such as Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar, Bay Area legends Y&T, Everclear, and many more.

Now, Red Voodoo has just wrapped up recording at the famous Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, working on their 5 track EP with Grammy nominated producer Jaimeson Durr (Don Henley, Sammy Hagar, Nancy Wilson, etc.). The group's goal is to make rock mainstream again, and spark a fire in the hearts of music lovers everywhere. Red Voodoo consists of lead singer and frontman Dino McCord, lead guitarist Davin Loiler, bassist Andrew Edwards, and drummer Andy Nathan. The band released their first single, “Mystery Girl,” in 2023, and it is quickly approaching 300,000 streams on Spotify, and people are taking notice.

“What I love most about Red Voodoo. They remind me so much of Montrose. They f#$%&* mean it when they're performing anything. They are hungry, and they're f#$%&* good. They got what it takes. It's just a matter of time.” - Sammy Hagar

“Red Voodoo represent the true spirit of rock n’ roll and they remind me of why I wanted to play in a band when I was a kid!” - Jeremy Popoff (Lit)

The band is also very excited to release their second single, “Style,” and as singer Dino explains, “Style makes you groove and dance. Retro is coming back, and I think writing a song that captures the era of vinyl records, bell bottoms, and RnR is something that is very fun!”

“Style” is inspired by the familiar sounds of 1970’s rock and roll. Combined with a modern sound, catchy lyrics, and a recognizable beat, the Sacramento musicians deliver yet another ear worm. The music video for the track was recorded in San Francisco, California by Michigan based director, Cooper Arent. The video showcases the chemistry of the members in the band, while also focusing on outfits and fashion, and fittingly for a song whose lyrics discuss “bell bottom jeans” and “Vogue Magazine”.

The Dreaded Laramie Release Femmecore Single "Fishnets"

THE DREADED LARAMIE SHARE NEW SINGLE "FISHNETS" — LISTEN

BAND ALSO ANNOUNCES A CO-HEADLINING SPRING TOUR WITH VIRGINITY — DATES AND INFO HERE

Watch the music video for "Fishnets" below.

"Fishnets" follows the release of "Breakup Songs," which the band released in 2023.

"As much as I would love for recovery to be straightforward (in breakups, grief, or really any context), it seems unavoidable that it is a non-linear process where you can be fine one day and a wreck the next. We wanted 'Fishnets' to reflect that pendulum between emotional stability and totally freaking out. The meter change between the verses and the choruses feels disorienting to me in a way that is authentic to an experience like, I don't know, getting an out-of-the-blue text from an ex asking to be guest listed for a show." — MC Cunningham, Vocalist of The Dreaded Laramie

The Dreaded Laramie have been melting faces while making people think since 2019, with their own brand of cock rock-coded femmecore. This Nashville quartet delivers high-energy hooks and first-rate musicality, with trademark guitarmonies that scratch that very specific itch in your brain.

Their new album Princess Feedback is an album filled with riffs made of liquid magma and heavy-hitting rhythm section ferocity. But it's also a breakup record. It's a controlled blast — a sonic explosion performed with deliberate precision, clearing the way for what lies beneath. Songs that might sound joyful on first listen are, in time, revealed to be introspective meditations on self-doubt and healing.

On the standout track "Breakup Songs," guitarist/vocalist MC Cunninghamdelves into the healing process post-split: "I can't control the way I heal, feel, or bleed / 'Cause healing isn't the lips, it's the teeth."

Cunningham explains, "The line about the lips is evoking kissing, something tha'’s fun, it's sweet, it's soft, but it isn't nourishing in any way. And what healing is, you're actually taking a bite of something, you're actually giving yourself nourishment, you're growing as a person. And it's also like getting bitten a lot of the time. It's the teeth."

The album was produced, mixed, and engineered by Grammy winner Dave Schiffman (PUP, The Bronx), who managed to capture the band at its very best, maintaining the live energy that makes them an instant hit with crowds of all sizes. "We did most of the guitar harmony tracking at the same time, which was a highlight of the recording process for me," says guitarist Zach Anderson. "We had everything set up in the control room, and so many pedals and dozens of guitars laying around, and we were just grabbing them and trying them out. It was so fun to have Dave in the captain's chair, and getting to play them in real time was a total blast."

The Dreaded Laramie subvert expectations without being in your face about it, and Princess Feedback is an album crafted firmly in that spirit.

ABOUT SMARTPUNK RECORDS:
Smartpunk has been a recognizable name in the scene for a long time (Remember that sponsored Warped Tour stage?!). After exchanging several hands and countless ideas of what it could and should be, they decided to start a record label in 2016 with the main idea of focusing solely on reissuing records that have been out of print or never on vinyl. After all, they're a label of vinyl dorks themselves! After releasing Set Your Goals' Mutiny and Gameface's Good, they started to venture into signing newer bands. They actively balance in between many worlds — putting out amazing music from friends and bands that rock, reissuing older titles, and partnering with other incredible labels in our scene and doing exclusive color variants of their releases.

Since forming the record label, Smartpunk Records has released timeless albums such as Less Than Jake's Anthem, Nominee's Lowlife, RIVALS' Sad Looks Pretty on Me, Virginity's POPMORTEM, and melodic skate punkers The Swellers' My Everest.

The Intemperate Sons Release Official Music Video for Single "CØNTRØL8 " via FRAME|WORK

"CØNTRØL8," the newest track from The Intemperate Son's LP, Dark Day’s Night, is now available on all major platforms. The album is set to release on June 20, 2024. This electrifying album will be available on both vinyl and CD formats.

The video for "Cøntrøl8" vividly captures the paradox of exerting control over others as a means to counterbalance the feeling of being controlled, wrapped in a visually striking and emotionally powerful lyrical story.

Pre-order began on Monday March 18th where fans have the exclusive opportunity to secure a limited edition 12" vinyl LP, offered in various package configurations.

Pre-order Dark Day's Night HERE

For the first time since their inception, The Intemperate Sons collaborated with guest lyricist, Megan Watson, to paint the verbal picture with this powerfully melodic track. "CØNTRØL8" was produced by The Intemperate Sons and Amir Derakh (Rough Cutt, Orgy, Dead by Sunrise, Julien-K) and recorded at The Kitchen Recording Studios in Dallas, TX. "CØNTRØL8" explores our tendencies as humans to control others through efforts to feel better about ourselves. Inadvertently, such behaviors are inherently destructive within and without and create a lonely existence. Maybe we should let go?

Immerse yourself in the gritty sonic landscape of The Intemperate Sons' second album, Dark Day's Night. With tracks like the haunting title song, the introspective "Falling Under," and the reflective "Way Back When," this album weaves a compelling story of resilience amidst turmoil. "Unrealized" and "CØNTRØL8" delve into the battle for autonomy in a disordered world, while "Game of Keep Away"offers a raw take on the struggle of self-destruction and survival. The album also features a heavier, more intense cover of Nirvana's "Dumb," adding a unique layer to this already diverse album. Dark Day's Night is not just an album; it's a journey through the shadows, echoing with the sounds of defiance and liberation.

The Intemperate Sons release all their music through the Frame|Work record label at the direction of Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck (Orgy, Julien-K, Dead by Sunrise, Adema). A brand-new music video for the single will be released on 3/22/24 to the usual platforms. All Intemperate Sons’ tracks are mixed by Amir Derakh in Long Beach, CA. All mastering is done by Mike Marsh Mastering in the U.K.

The Intemperate Sons emerged onto the rock scene in the summer of 2019 in Dallas, TX, to bring their distinct sound to the genre. A deep love for music brought family members Keith Watson (drums), Jake Watson (guitars) and Max Watson (vocals, guitars, keys) together along with close friend Mark Marks, who provides the groove on bass to unite everything together. The band's sound has been described as a 90's alternative style that is obsessed with the 70's.

Keith is well acquainted with entertaining massive crowds of concert goers and has played with many successful bands in Dallas, such as Gun Hill, Natural Born Thrillers and Agents of Solace, on top of opening for Lynch Mob, Joe Lynn Turner and Sponge. He is the primary lyricist for the band and has written the music for some of their most successful songs, including “Dust to Dust,” “The Color Within,” and “Unrealized.”

Multi-talented and gifted with the ability to play various instruments, Max is also the lead vocalist of the group. Along with being musically dexterous, he has also collaborated with Keith to write lyrics on the released songs “Going Crazy” and “Way Back When.” In the studio, Max usually surmounts expectations and goes above and beyond to prepare prior to a session with his own vocal harmonies.

Jake is the song architect of the Sons and extremely instrumental in the crafting of the music. His inventive ways of bringing lyrics to life in clever ways are unprecedented and fascinating to see in the studio setting. He is a prolific writer of music as well and is credited with helping create the songs “What’s Done is Done,” “Remission,” “Way Back When” and “Wading in the Gray.” Both Max and he play lead guitar on many of the songs as well. The other members of the band fondly refer to him as the “art director” since he enjoys taking charge in those areas for the group.

Prolific and unifying, Mark is an accomplished bass player and well known in Dallas. He was in the regionally successful band, Haggard, and had opened for Sebastian Bach of Skid Row. His input in song writing has been invaluable to the process of creating captivating melodies.

Despite the pandemic putting a pause on many major events, The Intemperate Sons lived up to their name and let nothing hold them back from making music. Constantly hard at work in the studio, they have collaborated with Amir Derakh (Julien-K, Dead by Sunrise, Orgy, Rough Cutt) and Ryan Shuck (Julien-K, Adema, Dead by Sunrise, Orgy). Both have lent their musical talents to various songs and ultimately have brought the Sons on to their label, Frame|Work. This led the band to also recently join the management roster at The Label Group. Ryan worked with Amir to produce the band’s upcoming track, “Game of Keep Away,”and has had a huge impact on the group. He’s been especially influential on Max’s vocal melodies and delivery. Amir also plays guitar on this latest ballad and has been mixing all of the band’s music as well as performing on multiple songs.

Another notable collaboration has been with Tony Franklin (The Firm, Roy Harper, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Whitesnake), primarily on the first album, The Color Within. He has been a valuable friend of the band and has played bass on some of their best tracks from that album, including “Running Man,” “Dust to Dust” and “The Color Within.”

The Intemperate Sons’ take on alternative rock is a dark and powerful concoction of hard rock mixed with folk and grunge concepts. The band has earned a serious reputation for writing and performing tracks that scratch deep into the backbone of the human experience. There is no shortage of darkness in their writing style, which has a retro vibe with many guitar-driven tracks stacked on top of a groovy rhythm section. The heavier style fits perfectly with the two and three-part vocal harmonies that are a huge part of their overall sound. It has been said that musicians that are related form unique sounds and communicate at a frequency only they can understand. This frequency has become engrained in their songwriting, arrangements, guitar melodies and vocal harmonies. The band has been compared to Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and even R.E.M.

Progressive Metal Band Take & Take Release Debut Album 'Disillusion' Out Now! New Video for "Digging"!

Progressive metal band Take & Take's debut album Disillusion released today, March 22, 2024. Crafting every element from concept to concrete, the musical visionary Eddie Trager helmed the entire process—ideas, composition, instrumental and vocal performances, and even the captivating hand-drawn cover art.

In collaboration of the album release, the band also dropped their new music video for "Digging"! WATCH it Below.

In this artistic endeavor, Trager found collaboration in the form of the legendary Matt Bayles. Known for his contributions to some of Eddie's all-time favorite albums, Bayles lent his expertise to the mixing duties at the prestigious Red Room in Seattle. Meanwhile, metal production titan Jens Bogren took the reins for mastering at his renowned Fascination Street Studios in Malmo, Sweden, ensuring the album's sound reaches new heights.

Disillusion draws inspiration from a diverse array of progressive musical influences, weaving a tapestry that spans from the avant-garde sounds of Ihsahn, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Opeth, Mastodon, Wilderun, and The Mars Volta to the vibrancy of Jacob Collier, The Beatles, Queen, and Yes. The album masterfully navigates through a spectrum of musical genres, seamlessly blending pop sensibilities with experimental twists that defy traditional forms.

Prepare to embark on a musical odyssey that transcends boundaries, as Take & Take introduces Disillusion to the world —a testament to innovation, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of artistic excellence.

"Sticky" - the first single from the upcoming Disillusion album - dropped January 12th with a simultaneous video premiere at Metal Injection.
Check it out HERE

"That Won’t Last", the second single, came out February 16 with a lyric visualizer by Drain Hope.

Meet Eddie Trager, a versatile artist whose musical journey spans a spectrum of roles and genres:

Formerly a rhythmic force as the drummer and percussionist for Nekrogoblikonfrom 2007 to 2016, Eddie contributed not only his drumming skills but also his talents on xylophone, glockenspiel, marimba, and earned credits as a songwriter.

Currently, he is making waves as the drummer for the new punk/hardcore band, Last Leg, as well as handling production and mixing duties for their debut EP. Additionally, Eddie showcases his guitar prowess with The Wailing Coast, a rock band based in China, where he intricately weaves melodies into their sonic landscape.

As the leader of Eddie Spaghetti and the Selfish Bitches, Eddie brings an absurd sensibility to modern music. Moreover, his collaborative efforts with Emo/Shoegaze/chamber music artist A Lady Named Isaac add another layer to his diverse musical portfolio.

Eddie Trager's journey with Take & Take began in 2016, during his travels through Colombia. The song forms coalesced during live demo sessions in the midst of the 2020 lockdown in Xiamen, China. Take & Take is the sound of personal struggle and awakening, of greed and gain, of telling lies and being lied to, of deep disappointment and personal loss, the rise of ego and the inevitable fall. It's a poetic testament to the transformative power of heavy music, inviting those who truly listen to join the experience. Take & Take isn't just music; it's an immersive journey through the complexities of the human experience—raw, unapologetic, and undeniably powerful.

New music from Take Offense

Cali thrashers Take Offense have released their new single “Assassination” today - the second preview of what’s to come on their upcoming album T.O.tality.

The track kicks off with a complex riff that would sit perfectly on a Marty Friedman-era Megadeth record before settling into a swinging hardcore groove with unexpected twists. It’s the perfect sample of Take Offense’s fresh take on crossover as the band forge ahead towards new frontiers on T.O.tality .

Frontman Anthony Herrera tells, “‘Assassination’ embodies our mission to be truthful and give everything that you have.” It’s accompanying video, directed by Nicholas Hipa is a metaphor,” adds Herrera. “The assassin in the video represents anyone and anything trying to stop us – it ain’t happening.”

After nearly two decades of grinding and the accompanying blood/sweat, Take Offense have mastered their craft, reaching the pinnacle of their expansive sound. T.O.tality , their fourth overall album and label debut for MNRK Heavy , is marked with a sense of modernity– incorporating the hard-driving ethos of thrash, the finesse of speed metal, the sneering tenacity of hardcore all while nodding to their home of Southern California.

Take Offense look toward the tone and attitude of their California counterparts– bands like EXCEL and Suicidal Tendencies who also leaned heavily into skate aesthetics but worshipped Sunset Strip-and-adjacent guitar dieties like Warren Di Martini and Eddie Van Halen . T.O.tality is a love letter to that scene and those times, delivered in the form of an armada of fourteen nitro-equipped tracks that explode through barricades of genre convention and emptying the clip with fresh ideas. It’s a tribute to local heroes with familiar approaches that are wholly and undoubtedly Take Offense.

Tzarina Unveil Self Titled Album via TLG/Virgin Music Group

The dynamic post-hardcore band Tzarina has unleashed their self-titled album through TLG/Virgin Music Group. Helmed by the visionary songwriter Craig William, this musical saga is a riveting journey that pushes the boundaries of post-hardcore, leaving an indelible mark on the genre.

The sonic landscape of Tzarina's self-titled album is meticulously crafted, thanks to the combined efforts of Nick Bellmore at Dexters Lab Recording and Craig William at ABQ Studios. The production, engineering, mixing, and mastering was done by Nick Bellmore and reflects a commitment to sonic excellence.

Immerse yourself in the powerful soundscape as Tzarina pushes musical boundaries with their compelling release. The band held their album release show at the iconic Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY on March 20, 2024.

For songwriter Craig William, the crux of the musical endeavor powered by the band Tzarina has always been to explore the more ethereal themes evident in the mixture of metal, post-rock and post-hardcore genres expressed in their music. This is evident in Tzarina's trail of singles, which have been seeing their release since October of 2020.

It has been almost two years since the full LP was recorded, so they are slated to release their first complete work later this year. This has been a long-awaited moment for the band, who have been hard at work perfecting their sound and experimenting with various elements of their live performance.

Tzarina is composed of Craig William on vocals and guitar, Mark Ayesh on guitar and backup vocals, Robert Scott Abrams on drums, and Michael Forsyth on bass. With the constraints resulting from the COVID pandemic, the band was forced to have a bit more of a DIY ethic, with William handling the brunt of the songwriting, and recording, while in isolation. This did not stop the rest of the members from contributing where they could and the result is nothing short of a sound that is distinctly their own.

This is a group that takes great pride in its artistry, and it shows in the level of care put into every aspect of its music. It is this dedication that has allowed them to continue to evolve and grow as artists.

They are known for their aggressive live shows juxtaposed with beautifully textured music and thought-provoking lyrics that explore the human experience. With heavy, driving riffs and powerful vocals, Tzarina is poised to become one of the most exciting acts coming up in the Brooklyn area.

Tzarina is a band that is constantly striving to push themselves creatively, and they show no signs of slowing down any time soon. With a new album on the horizon and an ever-growing live show, there is much to be seen and heard from this talented group of musicians. Whether you're a post-hardcore fan or just appreciate great music in general, Tzarina is definitely a band to keep your eye on.

Jordyn Shellhart x Donovan Woods “Search My Name” Out Now

Warner Music Nashville singer/songwriter Jordyn Shellhart is continuing to share her own brand of conversational country with latest release, “Search My Name” featuring Donovan Woods. Listen to “Search My Name” HERE. Watch the lyric video Below.

“Donovan Woods is a dear friend and one of my favorite artists in the world,” Shellhart shares. “When he sent me an early version of the idea for this song, I simply fell in love with it. Social media makes everyone insane, and as it turns out Donovan and I are included in that insanity, so this is a song about that.

“Getting to write and sing a song with Donovan, 10-out-of-10 would highly recommend.”

The airy and uptempo track was written by Shellhart, Ava Suppelsa, Robyn Dell-Unto and Donovan Woods and produced by Cameron Jaymes. The song finds Shellhart and Woods examining what the early blushes of a crush look like in the social media age and the self-doubt we can feel based on our online presence.

The new music follows Shellhart’s recent release “A Nice Thing to Do” featuring Charlie Worsham with Billboard opining the duo possessed “relaxed vocal styles, which bubble atop clean, graceful pop-country production.” These new collaborations come on the heels of a breakout 2023 for the Wyoming native who was named a member of 2024’s CMT Listen Up Class following the release of her cozy Christmas EP, Cross-Legged By The Fireplace, and debut album, Primrose, which garnered critical acclaim on multiple year-end best of lists.

“‘Ethereal country-pop’ is the best way to describe the debut album from Jordyn Shellhart, who writes with vulnerability and potent detail on Primrose,” lauded Stereogum, naming the 12-track project one of the “Best Country Albums of 2023,” while noting it’s “a perfect album for those who dreamt of an acoustic twangier version of Midnights.”

“A collection that offers immense career promise,” boasted Billboard upon its release, with Country Now declaring it “a work of pure artistry that will take listeners on a unique musical journey,” while Nashville Lifestyles observes Shellhart “jumps the line of intriguing new songsmiths with her debut…evocative in style and voice.”

Known for her emotive storytelling and soulful melodies, look for more new music to be released this year. For the latest news and upcoming tour dates visit, jordynshellhart.com and follow along @JordynShellhart on FacebookInstagramX and TikTok

About Jordyn Shellhart:
Like a coming-of-age novel chronicling the heroine's passage from childhood to womanhood, singer/songwriter Jordyn Shellhart's 12-track Primrose ventures from joyful to introspective, providing intimate yet vivid glimpses into the Wyoming-native's most formative moments and milestones. Although her first full album for Warner Music Nashville, its refinement and sophistication stems from more than a decade as a signed writer, earning cuts by Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, Cody Johnson and Don Williams. Whether asking "Who Are You Mad At," crooning over not the loss of a lover but of their mother in "Tell Your Mother I'm Fine" or the retrospective "Maybe Someday You'll Have A Daughter," Shellhart's Primrose is the first chapter in what is sure to be a storied career.

Greyhaven Sign to Solid State, Announce "Stereo Grief" EP+ Share "The Welcome Party" — WATCH

GREYHAVEN — Brent Mills [vocals], Nick Spencer [guitar], Johnny Muench [bass], and Ethan Spray [drums] — have signed to Solid State Records.

The band will release the Stereo Grief EP on April 12. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band is sharing the video for the single "The Welcome Party." Watch it below

It's a rager with lots of forward-thinking, noodly riffs, and sonic twists and turns that will leave your head spinning in the best possible way.

"It's a classic Greyhaven song, but I think we've figured out what that means and how to do that the best way possible, while still exploring new things," says Mills about "The Welcome Party." He continues, "This is the first time I've tried to tackle a central concept throughout a release. This song, and the EP as a whole, really deal with framing life and death...If these songs can build a house, this is the first knock at the front door."

Further expanding on the EP, which takes inspiration from the classic short story And He Built A Crooked House by Robert A. Heinlein, Mills states,"The EP is a loose story of someone navigating existential fear relating to all life and all death on a grand scale through a multi-dimensional lens. I was inspired by a short story I read while we were tracking that sort of serves as a backdrop for what's going on in the lyrics. Overall, I feel like this is the best material we've written so far and it's only hinting at where we're going. We couldn't be more excited to release it with a new team behind us."

He continues, "On the EP, this character is traveling through a house where he watches all of these versions of himself. He experiences good and bad moments as well as regret. I struggle with a lot of anxiety and depression. I'm always thinking, 'I wish I could've done that differently.' By looking through the lens of a person who has access to every variation of life, the project is a way to process a really depressive episode. It leads to acceptance though."

Greyhaven have magnified the scope of heavy music since emerging in 2013. The group transfixed audiences with Empty Black [2018] and This Bright and Beautiful World [2022], gathering streams in the tens of millions. Beyond praise from RevolverKERRANG!, and more, New Noise Magazine professed, "Greyhaven have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the post-hardcore and the heavy music scene at large with their latest release," and Blabbermouth applauded how "musicianship and eloquence are apparent." Throughout 2023, they assembled what would become Stereo Grief with producer Will Putney [Body Count, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die].

Greyhaven are also embarking on a North American tour this spring with Better Lovers. All dates are below.

FLAT BLACK Drop "NOTHING TO SOME" Feat. Corey Taylor — WATCH

Guitarist Jason Hook introduced his new band FLAT BLACK last year.

The former Five Finger Death Punch guitarist teamed up with a trio of young and talented musicians and signed with Fearless Records for its debut album, the details of which are TBA. The album, produced by Hook and Chris Collier (Korn), was recorded at both Hook's home studio and The Hideout.

Today, the band has shared a fierce and fiery new single with "NOTHING TO SOME," featuring a vocal cameo from Slipknot's Corey Taylor.

Watch the lyric video and listen to the song below

"NOTHING TO SOME" is a rager that is destined to land on year-end "best of" lists and in repeat rotation in your preferred music listening service. Bolstered by anthemic riffs, battering ram percussion, and full on rhythmic thrust, Taylor's vicious vocals sound as though he gargled with razor blades and battery acid before spewing his parts, and it's a beautiful thing. All of that, combined with a classic metallic influence that is threaded through the song, makes "Nothing to Some" a seriously definitive moment for Flat Black.

"'NOTHING TO SOME' features the brutal and unapologetic Corey Taylor," Hook says. "This guy is a bottomless pit of creativity and delivered a vocal that perfectly matched what I wanted for this track. The guitar solo is unique on the album in the way that I let it rip with no rhythm guitars underneath. Now that I'm in a one-guitar band, I could strip it down and let it be as raw as Corey is on the vocal track. I remember hammering out live takes with Rob pounding away next to me. It was inspiring."

ABOUT FLAT BLACK:
"I feel like FLAT BLACK is a secret I've been keeping for three years," Hook says. "It's finally time to unleash this band on the world. I'm grateful to Sully from Godsmack for giving us the chance to get out on the road and play for such an amazing group of fans."

Despite having reached a commercial summit with his prior band, thanks to multiple platinum certifications, sold-out arena shows, and a string of No. 1 singles, Hook remains as hungry for musical blood and thunder as the day he first picked up a guitar at the age of six. He is eager to not only replicate but to surpass his past successes with his new band.

Having left his prior band in February 2020, which was right before COVID-19 put the entire world on pause, Hook wanted to assume creative control and let his musical free spirit soar in a project that was truly his. He opted to gamble on himself. With great risk comes great reward and the decision to form FLAT BLACK clearly worked out in his favor.

"As a musician, I crave freedom and I wasn't ready to stop creating," Hook shares.

"Life is short," he continues. "We all want to feel satisfied and happy with what we are trying to accomplish in life."

The pandemic shutdown allowed him the opportunity to assemble the right musicians and carefully craft their debut album. FLAT BLACK are armed with an arsenal of riffs that'll rattle your teeth loose from your gums, stadium-sized hooks, arena-ready anthems, and choruses that are guaranteed to touch a nerve. All of those factors combined make FLAT BLACK poised for success.

The origin stories of the rest of the players are indicative of a lifelong love of music and plenty of road-worn experience. The desire to play courses through their veins and propels them forward, which is why they all meshed so well with Hook.

Singer Wes Horton was introduced to music at age 13, thanks to his sister and Guitar Hero. He honed his vocal chops by playing in local bands and making online videos. Various music industry friends and acquaintances would become the connective tissue between himself and Hook. Horton knew he wanted to be a frontman, and FLAT BLACK afforded him that opportunity. Wes loves the fact that his bandmates prioritize songcraft — and that allows him to be the singer he has always wanted to be.

Bassist Nick Diltz, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, is the son of a legendary rock music photographer who brought him to concerts during his formative years. He recalls being inspired by watching a VHS video of U2 performing at legendary venue Red Rocks. Seeing fans clamoring for a piece of Bono in the footage is a vision that never left his head. This first exposure to the power of a true rock icon solidified Nick's destiny as a live performer.

Drummer Rob Pierce hails from Nashville, aka Music City. His dad was a race car driver and his grandfather was a pastor. He grew up racing go karts and at first, wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps until he joined the fourth grade band and was bitten by the music bug. He chose the snare drum over the saxophone and from that moment on, music was the only thing that mattered. Rob got his first drum kit at age 11, which he set up in his dad's car shop. He learned to play his instrument next to 1,000 horsepower engines, which influences his highly energetic style to this day.The chemistry between the players in FLAT BLACK is palpable. And while FLAT BLACK's songs are built to take up real estate in the brains of fans for weeks at a time, the true nature of the band's material is meant to be experienced live. FLAT BLACK are now ready to hit the road and bring these brutal bangers to the masses live and in the flesh.

FLAT BLACK ARE:
Jason Hook — Guitar
Wes Horton — Vocals
Rob Pierce — Drums
Nicholas Diltz — Bass

Band names go a long way in helping paint a figurative picture in the listener's mind of what to expect before one ever hits “play.” When it comes to Extortionist, you think crime—you think gritty, raw, merciless and unsavory and maybe, just maybe, a little sprinkling of suaveness. When it comes to the Pacific Northwest’s resident moshslingers, those premonitions from their name are exactly what you get. As a band who have proven themselves exemplary at styles of heavy music ranging from downtempo deathcore to grunge-tinted metal, Extortionist are more than just a jack-of-all-trades; they’re masters. Utilizing bold, roaring guitars overtop crushing, steamrolling percussion and vocals that run the gamut from guttural to grating, pitched singing and topped off with—you guessed it—a now-infamous dodgeball-smack snare, Extortionist have proven that not only are they incredible at what they do, they’re a band that the heavy scene just can’t go without.

Emerging from the relatively understated pastures and prairies of Coeur d’Alene in early 2013, to say Extortionist have been on a journey since their inception would be an understatement. With "The Black Sheep" instantly earning them notoriety with its combination of feral grooves and eviscerating breakdowns, Extortionist proved themselves early on as prodigal masters of all things punishingly heavy. As the band grew and gained more experience on the road in light of the success of their debut EP, their style and dynamic grew as well. After nearly four years of touring and writing, Extortionist would unleash 'The Decline' in 2017, a band that saw their breed of brutalizing deathcore hybridized with riff-heavy metalcore and more introspective lyrics that tackled suicidal ideation and substance abuse. 'The Decline' was met with immense critical praise and continued to open up larger opportunities for the Northwestern act, ultimately earning them multiple co-headlining tours from coast to coast, and a spot on Stay Sick Records, alongside other up-and-coming heavyweights like SPITE and Bodysnatcher. Barely a year and a half after their signing, the band announced their sophomore full-length release, 'Sever the Cord', which saw them experimenting with the inclusion of grunge and alternative influences, adding even more depth and grit to their dynamic. Their sophomore album earned them not only critical acclaim, but nationwide tours alongside The Browning, Betraying the Martyrs, Lorna Shore and First Blood. 'Sever the Cord' was followed shortly thereafter by an eponymous EP which saw them diving deeper into a more exploratory realm of metalcore, colliding ferocious riffs into moments of warm, nostalgic melody. While their self-titled release was widely heralded as the band’s strongest work to date, was declared their Swan Song, as in the weeks that followed towards the back-end of Summer 2019, Extortionist announced their dissolution.

That isn’t the end of Extortionist’s story, however. As 2019 gave way into 2020 and the chaotic months that followed, the heavy music community felt the band’s absence all too strongly. In the early months of 2021, Extortionist announced their return with a series of shows in Spokane, Washington alongside AVOID and Seconds Ago as well as a new single, “Once More in Torment”. Once more highlighting the seamless blend of raunchy aggression and groove-heavy catchiness that only Extortionist can provide, the band’s comeback track is a strong reminder of just how missed they were throughout their nearly two-year absence. Frontman and founding member Benjamin Hoagland states “This is the best place we’ve ever been in as a band...Extortionist lives, and we’re here to stay.” Indeed, with a full-length record in the works and a ferocious return to live performance already underway, it would seem that Exortionist’s relative break was only a brief moment with which to collect themselves before reasserting their dominance over the contemporary metalcore scene. - Connor Welsh

Sweden's THEN COMES SILENCE presents 'Like a Hammer', a dark rich taste of seventh album 'Trickery'

"Then Comes Silence are everything a band should be - good tunes, good playing and singing, and good looking. Their songs are ear-worms, once heard difficult to forget, as catchy as gonorrhea but far better for your health" ~ Wayne Hussey

”I can see them being huge” ~ Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth)

"Capturing the alluring intersection of 1980s Post-Punk, New Wave and College Rock in one fell swoop, this music feels organic and fresh, with ample drive, clever songwriting and a killer melody, along with crisp production" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Truly love it" ~ She Past Away

"Hellacopters of Gothic Rock" ~ Jyrki 69 (The 69 Eyes)

"The only band that have been voted in as album of the month three times!" ( 'Blood' in 2017 / 'Machine' in 2020 / 'Hunger' in 2022) ~ Sonic Seducer Magazine

Sweden's Then Comes Silence bring a new serving of their infectious post-punk with their new 'Like a Hammer' single. Arriving hot on the trail of the lead track ‘Ride or Die’, the band bring us one step closer to the release of their seventh album ‘Trickery’, forthcoming via Metropolis Records.

Based in Stockholm, Then Comes Silence was founded by Alex Svenson in 2012, originally inspired by frequent touring with A Place To Bury Strangers and an attraction to horror and the occult. Today he is joined by drummer Jonas Franssonand Hugo Zombie (Los Carniceros del Norte) on guitar.

"‘Like a Hammer’ was the first song written for ‘Trickery’ a little more than a year ago. There is a tradition based on an inside joke when I write and we record. Every album has an ABBA moment and a Ramones moment or a Judas Priest moment. A melody, a riff, a drum beat or a whole part that has something familiar with the mentioned artists. ‘Like a Hammer’ was pointed out as the ABBA moment in this album by Jonas the drummer," explains Alex Svenson.

"On the cover of the album, there’s a picture of a band custom made, upside down Ace of Spades with three drops of blood. 'Like a Hammer' is the only song with that graphic theme mentioned in the lyrics.  We celebrate the community we live and work in. It's like a garden with plants, flowers and trees. Don't forget to water it in dry season."

Recorded by Jörgen Wall (Jay-Jay Johanson, The Hellacopters) over three days at Stockholm's Kapsylen Studio and mixed by Tom van Heesch (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Backyard Babies), this album was mastered by Svante Forsbäck / Chartmakers (Rammstein, Amaranthe, Ville Valo, The Rasmus, Apocalyptica).

This album celebrates friendship, unity and the feeling of belonging to a group, a tribe. Being a part of what most people would call the goth and post-punk  community is, according to the band, a great privilege. Of course, there are dark sides to everything, but after being on the road and meeting people from the music scene for so many years, the band have experienced a caring and welcoming community.

Following up their 2022 album 'Hunger', released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music (Europe) and Metropolis Records (North America), these sessions capture the heart and essence of alternative rock. With electronic elements essential to the new recordings, 'Trickery' is also a salute to punk music, to which Then Comes Silence traces their roots.

After debuting with their eponymous album in 2012, Then Comes Silence put out two more albums before releasing 'Blood' via Nuclear Blast in 2016. Their subsequent 'Machine' album was jointly released via Oblivion/SPV and Metropolis Records in 2020.

Then Comes Silence has toured and played live with The Fields of the Nephilim, The Chameleons, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Bellwether Syndicate and Vision Video, as well as performing at Wave Gotik Treffen, M'era Luna, Amphi Festival, Castle Party and W-Festival.

As of March 22, 'Like a Hammer' is out everywhere, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp, where 'Ride or Die' can also be found. On April 5, the 'Trickery' album will be released on vinyl and CD, as well as digitally. From late April through May, Then Comes Silence hits the road for an extensive North American tour with Vision Video with tickets available now.

Since their formation in 2013, Bewitcher has seen their signature “Black Magick Metal” sound go from humble beginnings to new heights of creativity and wild anthemic fervor. A small collection of long out-of-print demo tapes kicked off what has proven to be an enduring line of ripping studio albums, singles and EPs. They have earned a reputation as one of the hardest working touring acts around, bringing their volcanic, high energy live shows to every corner of North America and parts abroad.

Now, as the band reaches a new crucial milestone, they are taking a moment to look back on a

decade of diabolic speed and sorcery. Their latest offering, ”Deep Cuts & Shallow Graves: Ten Years of Black Leather, Black Magic & White Hot Fucking Steel“, is a massive 17-track compilation of Bewitcher’s original demo recordings, including rare and previously unreleased material, all remastered as well as two brand new studio tracks. Released November 17 on all formats, including a stacked double LP version, it is a compelling retrospective on the earliest days of this rising force in the world of heavy metal.

Line-Up:

A. Hunter – drums & percussion
