Coldwards Release New Single "Flatline" + Official Music Video

Alternative Metal band COLDWARDS released their new single "Flatline" along with the official music video to all major platforms via Wake Up! Music Rocks. "Flatline" is from their forthcoming EP Bad News.

"For us, 'Flatline' has a very personal meaning, it was written as a tribute to guitarist Wayne Swinny from Saliva who passed away in March but for the listeners it becomes an anthem for loved ones we lost way to soon," says Paul Crosby.

The band plans on hitting festivals in early 2024.

Coldwards (pronounced Cold-Words) is a five-piece rock band from Houston Texas comprised of drummer Paul Crosby of Grammy nominated + Gold and Platinum awarded Saliva (Click Click Boom, Always, Your Disease), as well as Paul's sons Sean Crosby (Vocals/Guitar) and Zac Crosby (Vocals/Electronics). Richie Hey is on bass and Michael Friese on guitar.

Together they make a powerhouse of heavy yet melodic riffs with immensely catchy hooks. Coldwards are a very percussive and vocal dominated style of music with chunky riffs and most of all deep lyrics with a message for today’s youth.

The band released their debut record Bloodwork on September 16, 2022.

Since their appearance on YouTube in February 2023, EIHWAR has shook the Internet and concert venues. Although no promotion has been made and nothing is known about the two musicians, most of EIHWAR's concerts are sold out and we already know that the band will be scheduled at big European festivals in 2024.

Being part of a new generation of neo-Viking bands, they produce an empowering and brutal dancefloor music, composed of hybrid sounds, trance vocals, shamanic drums, traditional Nordic sounds and powerful machines. EIHWAR is sacrilegious. As the web already says, the duo is a kind of new 'Viking Carpenter Brut'.

They are currently working on their first album which will be released before the end of 2024.

 NOT A TOY released their debut album PRBLMS, which meshes bold flavors of alt-pop, hip-hop, R&B, and alternative into a unique blend, earlier this year via Fearless Records. 

Today, they have shared the video for the brand new song "simp," which does not appear on the album. Watch it below.

It's a chill and woozy track with an abundance of syncopated beats and delightfully lazy and low-key vocal style; it's the mid-afternoon dose of sonic serotonin that you need to get you through the rest of a long and busy day.

"We started playing 'simp' live while on tour with Beauty School Dropout and the feedback from the crowd every night has been so insane we decided to drop it ASAP," the band says. "It's such a dance-y record, we have so much fun playing it live, and hope people have just as much fun playing it at home now. It definitely transports us to a party right when we turn it on. And luckil,y we're going to be able to make a party out of the release day since we'll be in L.A. at the Troubadour right after it drops." 

NOT A TOY is both alt-pop band and close-knit collective, all collaborating on the writing, production, multi-instrumentation, and visual elements. Best friends since high school, they cut their teeth in the punk and emo scene playing gigs across the map. Soon forming NOT A TOY in 2020 and quickly signing to Fearless Records. Releasing their full-length debut PRBLMS in July, the album emerged during trying times for the band. Steve Hackett launches ‘People of the Smoke’; first single from ‘The Circus and the Nightwhale’

Legendary rock guitarist Steve Hackett is set to release his new studio album ‘The Circus And The Nightwhale’ on February 16th, 2024, via InsideOut Music. A rite-of-passage concept album with a young character called Travla at the centre of it, ‘The Circus And The Nightwhale’s’ 13 tracks have an autobiographical angle for the musician who says about his 30th solo release: “I love this album. It says the things I’ve been wanting to say for a very long time.”
 
Today he is pleased to reveal the first single, and the albums opening track, ‘People of the Smoke’, and you can watch the video now.

Swedish progressive psychedelic rock band GAUPA has released a video for their digital single, 'Sömnen & Febersvan - Live At Monkey Moon Studios', a live rendition of two contrasting songs culminating in a captivating psychedelic experience.

It's the second excerpt from an intimate studio session the band played in late May 2023. Following their much-lauded appearances at both Desertfest London and Desertfest Berlin, GAUPA went to Monkey Moon Recordings in Dortmund, Germany and recorded three songs live over the course of an afternoon, 'Moloken' from their critically acclaimed most recent album Myriad as well as a breathtakingly intense 11-minute joint version of their songs 'Sömnen' and 'Febersvan', the former also from Myriad, the latter taken off of GAUPA's self-titled first EP.

P.O.D. Share "AFRAID TO DIE" (Feat. Jinjer's Tatiana Shmayluk) Video

Platinum-selling rock juggernaut P.O.D. — Sonny Sandoval [vocals], Marcos Curiel [guitar], and Traa Daniels [bass] — kicked off the fall with the video for their new single "DROP," which features a vicious vocal cameo from Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe. Today, the band is back with another blast and is sharing the video for the equally eruptive single "AFRAID TO DIE," featuring Jinjer vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk.

Lowlives Announce Spinefarm Signing + Band Shares Video For "Liar"

After a series of independent single and EP releases, West Coast-based raucous rockers LOWLIVES have announced their signing to SPINEFARM MUSIC.

Drummer Luke Johnson says, "We started this band with almost zero expectations. We just wanted to write music. At that poin,t we weren't even sure if this band would play live. Since then, it's been a complete 180. A hard path of pulling favors, blagging shows, putting songs out with very little help, besides a select few who saw the vision. To be here today, with a release partner like Spinefarm. is such an achievement for us. We couldn't be more excited to work with a world-class team."

"I wrote 'Liar' right in the middle of the first COVID lockdown," states vocalist/guitarist Lee Downer. "Once the panic had kinda settled down, the song came together in about 10 minutes. Lyrically, it started out about putting on a brave face, pretending that I was OK throughout it when I probably wasn't… almost convincing myself that everything would be alright. When we worked on the demo, I'd written at Luke's studio, we wrote the rest of the lyrics, and it became more about being someone you're not [and] feeling like you don't fit in to the point of creating a fake world in an attempt to feel more comfortable. You really want to tell the truth, but you're bought in to the lies so much that they have become your own personal truth.

LOWLIVES released their debut EP Burn Forever before embarking on their first-ever tour. Scheduled to support The Used, the band found itself in Europe with no shows to play after the headliners were forced to cancel last minute. Immediately getting on the phone and calling in favors from contacts they'd built in their respective former bands, the determined four-piece managed to book themselves two week's’ worth of shows, including a packed out headline appearance at London's Black Heart, and managed to fit in a live recording session for Daniel P Carter's Radio One Rockshow at the BBC's Maida Vale studios.

LOWLIVES returned to Europe that summer for the rescheduled THE USED tour and festival appearances including Reading & Leeds.

Further DIY efforts to tap into their network saw the band hit the road on both sides of the Atlantic with the likes of New Years Day, The Dirty Nil, Plague Vendor, and Saosin, to name a few.

With new material in the pipeline and a powerhouse record label behind them to build on their solid foundations, the world is about to find out just how high LOWLIVES can go.

Levels Announce "Pulse" EP + Share "Siren Hymn" Video

Wollongong five-piece Alienist unleash towering metalcore mayhem with their brand new single "Prisoner Of You," out now. The new track also heralds the group announcing its worldwide signing to UNFD.

"We are beyond excited to start this journey with UNFD," Alienist share of their new label home. "We have all grown up idolizing bands from this label and to now be a part of it is absolutely surreal!"

Weaving a biting commentary on a toxic relationship alongside catharsis, "Prisoner Of You" dazzles with its angular riffs, caustic verses, and swelling, melodic choruses, pushing Alienist's hulking prowess into a brand new stratosphere alongside powerful ruminations at its core. "'Prisoner Of You' is an analysis of a toxic and abusive relationship and how it can feel to be in that situation with no escape in sight, to be a prisoner," Alienist share of their brand new track. "It comes from an angry perspective towards the abusive person that has attempted to destroy us emotionally or physically and the realisation of how terrible an individual that commits those acts towards someone is. It hopefully serves as a reminder to people that these situations are not okay and to seek help and support if they feel like they're in a toxic or abusive relationship."

Brooklyn electro-rapper Aly G presents her new single ‘Super Power’. With her catchy yet conscious electro-rap, she exalts women’s various powers, which exhibit themselves both in expected and quite surprising ways.  

Aly G is the neon hip hop doppelganger of musician, producer, choreographer and singer-songwriter Alyson Greenfield, spitting rapid-fire rhymes with equal parts fun, feminism and fierceness, slaying the mic with quirky, clever raps about gentrification, misogyny, superpowers and ovaries.

Alyson Greenfield is also one-half of POLYVOX, a duo with Joe McGinty (Psychedelic Furs), creator and curator of NYC’s famed Loser’s Lounge. Earning praise from NYC's The Deli, Greenfield was also one of the first five artists chosen to record at Converse’s Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn.

‘Super Power’ proclaims that being a woman is inherently a Super Power in itself. It tells personal stories of fighting off muggers and sexual assaulters with a feistiness that might be unexpected. It asserts that the ability to give birth and sustain another life is so badass, that women can be as fierce as needed in any situation.

“In flight or fight situations, you learn which way you go and, when I was mugged in Chicago and in another instance, sexually assaulted on the subway in NYC, I learned I am definitely a fighter. My energy got so big that both of the guys ended up running away from me. Instead of total fear, the thoughts in my head were, "Get away from me. My stuff is not yours! My body is not yours! Get out of my space! “I had heard the story of a woman who lifted a car to save her baby (which I reference in the track), and I felt that same adrenaline pumping through me, making me feel almost superhuman, in these situations," says Aly G.

“In the track I say, "Anything you can do, I can do bleeding / My body can sustain life through a feeding".  We don't have to be able to sprout webs from our fingers or fly through the air in order to do superhuman things, because as women we already have the power to do and face impossible things just by being who and what we are.”

This single follows Aly G’s debut single 'Build It Up', which claps back at the urban renewal trend and increasing gentrification in Brooklyn, showcasing her socially conscious NYC vibe, whip-smart vocab, sly comedic observances and rapid-fire delivery.

An Ohio native, Alyson started freestyling while at college in Wisconsin, the rhymes spontaneously popping into her head. With her MFA in creative writing, she moved to NYC and built up a following as a singer-songwriter until one night at a hip hop club, a spark ignited that birthed the artist, who evolved into Aly G. Incorporating beatboxing into her performances, along with covers of her fave 90s rap classics, she gained attention from The New Yorker and HuffPost for her innovative genre-blending and high energy performances. She has also recorded her own renditions of LL Cool J's 'Mama Said Knock You Out' and Coolio’s 'Gangsta’s Paradise'.

Inspired by Lauryn Hill, Saul Williams, Santigold, and Salt-N-Pepa, she began writing material that personified the fun-loving, colorful swagger of Aly G, including the hilarious true story about a friend’s unfortunate celeb experience 'Michael Cera C*ckblocked Me at SXSW'. Twice featured at The American Beatboxing Championships (earning props from Rahzel from The Roots), she has performed alongside artist /actress Awkwafina and visionary emcee Jean Grae.

Alyson’s music and original compositions have been featured on Fox, Lifetime, AOL, WNYC, and in TV/films including 'Conception', 'Super Sleuths', 'Creatures of Comfort', 'Dance Moms' and 'The American Templars'. She also founded NYC’s Tinderbox Music Festival, showcasing over 100 emerging female musicians from around the world in its four-year run, garnering press from The New York Times, Time Out New York, Billboard, Glamour and more.

Beautifully woven bass lines by Chris Marrone provide an indomitable structure and embrace for each instrument — never overpowering, yet always highlighting.

For modern day prog and metal fans, Kallias can be compared to bands such as Opeth, Meshuggah, and Decapitated. The quartet holds a musical chemistry that is few and far between and that will keep you in the foreground from the beginning with bone-chilling introductions. This is by no means background music.
