Tropic Gold Release "Maniac" Video — WATCH

Suffolk-via-Essex quartet Tropic Gold will release the What A Wonderful Experience EP, via UNFD.

Today, they share the video for "Maniac." Watch it here.

"Maniac" follows recent singles "ADRENALINE" and "DTTTH," and shines a light on "a generation of undiagnosed and mistreated mental health conditions," share the band. "The song lays out how people often think they're going insane and that they're not normal. There's a constant struggle people live with, not knowing why they feel differently to others, and 'Maniac' talks about the attempt to find the alternate inner version of yourself that feels hopeless."

Teasing What A Wonderful Experience, the band explains that the title "can be interpreted in so many ways; it's our most cohesive release yet and we're eager to see how people relate to the songs in different, individual ways."

Get it
here.

Tropic Gold offer up a sleekly modern meld of alternative, metal, pop, and electronica, cajoling their passions for a dynamic culture pool of music and production styles into a single sonic petri dish. Though originally formed in 2019, the quartet have spent years in the lab, developing their sound and strong aesthetics behind the closed doors of a bespoke, self-built multi-media studio. The Tropic Gold method is truly hands on, with guitaristJoshua Leehandling all production and recording duties, as well as diving into the weeds on their visual curation, manning the camera and edit suite as often as the production chair.

Today, with their vision firmly in grasp, the band are ready to move beyond the prologue, and have struck up a partnership with UNFD to bring their soaring, infectious soundscapes to a global audience.

Pairing swathes of moody atmospherics with soaring, ear worm choruses, the band’s songs feel like they would be equally A Vibe™ pulsing across sticky, cramped dance floors as soaring atop airy arenas.

Coming on like a new romantic Bring Me The Horizon or a post breakup Don Broco, who just discovered their parents copy of The Cure'sDisintegration or a 45rpm copy ofSing The Sorrow playing at 33rpm… tl;dr: Tropic Gold are as gloomy as they are catchy.

Sharing a sonic space with the likes of the aforementioned BMTH and Broco, PVRIS, (latter day) Architects, Caskets, Spiritbox's plaintive moments and even Enter Shikari (albeit on Valium), Tropic Gold are just getting started in figuring out how to weaponise their cocktail of slap and swag.

Mavis Share "Furry Tongue" Video — WATCH

German band MAVIS, featuring vocalist Phil Donay, guitarist Manu Weller, bass player Mo Amrein, and drummer Jakob Schulz-Klein, dropped the video for new single "Furry Tongue," out now via Arising Empire.

Watch it
below.

This latest masterpiece is a harmonious chaos, elegantly flitting between time signatures while maintaining a fluid, danceable rhythm.

"The complexity of 'Furry Tongue' didn't compromise its groove," says singer Phil Donay. "Achieving a song you can dance to was a pinnacle for us."

The song dances on the edge of intuition and overanalysis, exploring the tenuous balance that exists between the two and the exploitation that can arise from either extreme. Donay equates this delicate balancing act to the uncomfortable yet familiar sensation of a furry tongue.

Earlier this year, the band debuted its first single "Tortured Land." Watch the video
here.

If "Tortured Land" was an introduction to Mavis' dynamism, "Furry Tongue" solidifies their position as forerunners in innovative metalcore.
The visual component, a collaboration with Danny Jakov (deadapefilms) oscillates between cerebral choreography and instinctive movement.

Alkaloid Go Deep into 'Numen' with Bandcamp Listening Party

Alkaloid contain more than just multitudes. Their new album 'Numen' compresses meteoric riffs, seductive flurries of jazz and flamenco, and a multi-part saga about a godlike galactic civilization into a dizzying, thrilling 70 minutes.

"Songs like the ones you'll encounter on 'Numen' couldn't be conceived without highly active imaginations", says
No Clean Singing.

Lambgoat: "Everything hits in a big way; big enough to be an Outer God of the genre".

That's a lot for any metalhead to unpack. But lucky for us, Alkaloid are hosting a Bandcamp listening party to chat with fans about their new album. Join the metal mad scientists tomorrow at 5 pm EST, when they go behind-the-music into everything from 7/16 time signatures, Stygian choirs and roughly four billion years of multicellular evolution.

Tomorrow happens to be
Bandcamp Friday. Purchase 'Numen' or other Alkaloid merch during the listening party and the bulk of your money will go directly to supporting the band!

RSVP for the Bandcamp listening party tomorrow, October 6 @ 5 pm EST.

Alkaloid are still bonded together by their love of extreme metal. After all, they are a super group that's assembled from foundational members of Obscura, Dark Fortress, Triptykon and other genre heavyweights. But Numen finds the band playing around with all kinds of experiments. "Shades of Shub Niggurath" brings back the band's chaotic signature death metal to conjure the titular goat-like outer god.

Take a cosmic trip through Lovecraftian space lore by watching the song's new visualizer, which was made by Scott Rudd Film.

Watch it
below.

Progressive extreme metallers Alkaloid prepare to unfurl their new many-tentacled full-length, 'Numen' via Season of Mist. Featuring members of Triptykon, Obscura, Dark Fortress, and Obsidious, the Germany-based quartet of Morean (vocals, guitars, concepts), Hannes Grossmann (drums), Christian Münzner (guitars), and Linus Klausenitzer (bass) construct upon, expand away from, and journey between previous full-lengths The Malkuth Grimoire (2015) and Liquid Anatomy (2018) on Numen. In every respect, Alkaloid recommence the purposeful warp of various metallic genres they dimensionally blur. Tracks like the video single for "Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” and “Numen” posit heavy cosmological/Lovecraftian theoretic themes on top of musically-adept songs that are accessible yet undeniably intricate.

“We’ve all been around the block a few times by now as metal musicians,” says songsmith Morean. “The feeling that we’ve outgrown the narrow niche of pure extreme metal was a main motivator to start this band in the first place, ten years ago. The ‘prog’ tag is handy for us because, per definition, it already encompasses a wider range of possible styles and influences we can get away with than any one specific metal genre. This means we could ensure from the beginning that we’ll always be able to write whatever we want, no matter how crazy our ideas become. The heart of this band is always the songwriting, and we all like complex and virtuosic music in all its diverse manifestations. However, we do share a love for death metal as the smallest common denominator in the band, and we wanted to make sure no one thinks that just because we include melodies, clean guitars, and influences from other genres, we’d automatically sacrifice the brutality and relentless esthetic of extreme metal.”

'Numen' was written during the pandemic, but it was planned long before the scourge of disease wracked humanity. As a result, the songwriting sessions were predictably not "in the room" but over the Internet after the band members had isolated and worked on their constituent parts. Demos flew back and forth. Then, Tunker left amicably for personal reasons. Alkaloid could’ve folded, but the close-knit group soldiered on. They intensely relied on the professionalism and dependability of the collective to drive 'Numen' to completion. The complications of the two years it took to sonically inscribe the album into aeonic vastness didn’t fragment the end result. Instead, the process accelerated Alkaloid’s lambent, eldritch explorations. “Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” “Numen,” and “A Fool’s Desire” expertly bridge the past to the future, where Alkaloid’s originative, daedal storytelling captures (and holds hostage) the imagination.

The title, 'Numen', got its start at the dawning of Alkaloid. It’s a word that Morean fell in love with immediately, and he knew it had a place in his creative endeavors. Whereas The Malkuth Grimoire talked about combining existing elements into new structures, and Liquid Anatomy dealt with the creation of new elements, 'Numen' tries to look at the universe from a kind of meta-perspective from an imaginary god, as if the space that everything happens in was given a voice and a role as observer and shaper of everything that happens. In it, sentient panspermic mycelia are swathed in Lovecraftian nastiness—like Shub-Niggurath and the Fungi from Yuggoth—while the new Dyson chapters interpret the aspiration to reach divinity rather literally, reshaping the entire galaxy by manipulating spacetime itself. Desperate to escape their doom, the Cephalopods from previous songs have returned, too. 'Numen' is dense but not impenetrable. In fact, from the first moments of opener, "Qliphosis," to the final contemplation of closer "Alpha Aur,” Alkaloid prove to be more charismatic than ever.

SUFFOCATION | RELEASE VIDEO VISUALIZER FOR SECOND SINGLE 'PERPETUAL DECEPTION'

New York death metal legends SUFFOCATION unleash their ninth full-length album Hymns From The Apocrypha on November 3rd via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to ...of the Dark Light (2017) and the first release featuring the new vocalist Ricky Myers, pushes the band to the very edges of extremity and is arguably the group's strongest-sounding, most sonically punishing album yet. SUFFOCATION have achieved death metal perfection.

Check out the second single from the album entitled, 'Perpetual Deception'. The track revisits the Son of Man (Jesus) and his continuous deceit, a nod to the classic SUFFOCATION track, ‘Jesus Wept.’

Stream the new single 'Perpetual Deception', here:

Watch the video visualizer for 'Perpetual Deception',  below.

SUFFOCATION took about a month and a half to record Hymns from the Apocrypha. They holed up at Hobbs and Boyer's InLine Studio in Long Island. The duo engineered and co-produced with Christian Donaldson (BENEATH THE MASSACRE, INGESTED), who was also re-enlisted to mix and master, with Dominic Grimard (CRYPTOPSY, SHADOW OF INTENT) assisting. With stunning cover art by Greek illustrator Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design (VOMITORY, THE CROWN), Hymns from the Apocrypha is characteristically SUFFOCATION. It's uncompromisingly brutal, artistically gutsy, and aurally heavy. Clearly, SUFFOCATION, as they head into their 35th Anniversary, are at the peak of their potential. Death metal or die!

Hymns from the Apocrypha will be available digitally and in the following formats:

  • CD Jewel

  • Vinyl

    • Brown w/ White Splatter

    • White w/ Brown Corona (Mailorder exclusive, limited to 600)

Intervals Unveils New Single "mnemonic" + Accompanying Visualizer

Innovative instrumental metal outfit Intervals has today unveiled their brand new single "mnemonic" and the accompanying visualizer. Led by visionary and musical ringleader Aaron Marshall, "mnemonic" explores new sonic landscapes guided by Marshall's virtuosic guitarwork while preserving the band's signature sound of intricate melodies laced with technical prowess. HELFRÓ Release First Single off 'Hálgröf'

HELFRÓ didn't come out of nowhere. The duo's icy tremolo picking and firestorm melodies sound like they were carved from the volcanoes and glaciers of their native Iceland. But their first album surprised even the most steadfast black metal acolytes with dueling vocals, punchy death metal riffage and bracing lyrics about loneliness and addiction.

Now, three years later, Helfró are back and as cold and unforgiving as ever. Their new album, Tálgröf, drills even deeper into the dark corners of the human psyche, while boring through intense rhythmic passages that fuse the extremities of traditional death metal with sombre, introspective lyrical convictions.

On lead single ‘Fláráð Fræði’ (which in English means "Deceitful Theories), blast beats erupt into a sickly and intrusive melody about the origins of evil.

Watch the chilling video for ‘Fláráð Fræði’, which was created by Guilherme Henriques below.

Tálgröf comes out 1 December.

“The lyrical theme of ‘Fláráð Fræði’ talks about a dark, sick entity that tries to learn of the origin of its evil, intrusive thoughts,” says drummer Ragnar Sverrisson. "But it only gets sicker the more it learns.”

Formed amidst the haunting landscapes of Iceland, HELFRÓ is a formidable force in the world of blackened death metal. With their relentless aggression, atmospheric soundscapes, and compelling songwriting, they have carved their own path in the metal scene.

The journey of HELFRÓ
began when guitarist and songwriter Ragnar Sverrisson sought to bring his musical visions to life, Drawing inspiration from the bleakness of Icelandic winters, the mysticism of nature, and the chaos of the human experience. HELFRÓ'S debut album, aptly titled "Helfró", was released in 2020, marking the band's official entry into the world of extreme metal. With a relentless barrage of blast beats, crushing riffs, and haunting melodies, the album showcased their ability to seamlessly blend aggression and atmosphere.

Evolving with the advent of the sophomore album, TÁLGRÖF, listeners can expect even more ferocity as
HELFRÓ dives deeper into death metal territory while not straying to far from the signature ice-cold climactic tremolo riffing notable of their previous work. Characterized by its ferocity, the new album also carries introspective and thought-provoking themes, reflecting the band members' willingness to explore the depths of the human experience.

HELFRÓ is destined to leave an impact on the realm of extreme music, captivating audiences with their unique brand of Icelandic metal.

*Headline

Darkness and despair are a breeding ground for creativity in the right hands. Since their inception in 2017, Atlanta-based band Alluvial have embraced the grim and gloom that the world has to offer through an intricately balanced blend of rapid-fire polyrhythms, haunting, sludgy atmospheres and tightly wound grooves. The band takes a stab at creating an even more sinister sound than their previous album, Sarcoma, Death Is But a Door.

"We wrote about 13 or 14 songs this summer, but we wanted to do this EP between Sarcoma and our next full-length. These songs align with the vibe we want to go for. We will always find a way to be darker from record to record in the same way that South of Heaven was heavier than Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss was heavier than South Of Heaven," says Hauch. "It was that concept of chasing the dragon to find a way to top the message and vibe on the last record while finding a way to do it that made us excited."

After releasing their instrumental debut full-length, The Deep Longing for Annihilation, the band hit the road. Although the album has racked up millions of streams, there was always an intent to add a vocalist to their following releases. Hauch had begun writing what would become Sarcoma in 2018 and recruited Muller, knowing his vocal prowess from the vocalist's time in Suffocation.

Bringing Muller into the fold immediately elevated the band’s sound, but Death Is But a Door shows the synergy that the band has developed from working as a cohesive unit over the last few years.

Although the band's mission is to drive into bleaker and heavier territory with each new release, they manage to bring balance to their sound. While they remain grounded in death metal, the band's approach finds them exploring all of their influences. From traditional thrash like Pantera or Metallica to darker grunge like Alice in Chains or Soundgarden and everything in between, Alluvial aim to keep listeners on their toes by pushing beyond the realms of death metal.

"I wanted to have a band where we can write meaningful yet action-packed songs. Something that is terrifying but breaks your heart at the same time. I think we'll always chase that, but we want to find new ways to be heavy," says Hauch.

With the band’s members being as ingrained in the death metal scene as they are — with members previously playing in The Faceless, Suffocation and more — listeners can rest assured they’ll be met with plenty of brutality throughout their music. The twists and turns into clean passages, atmospheric ambience, or any of the other musical avenues explored throughout Alluvial's music take them over the edge and invite listeners to return and find something previously undiscovered.

San Francisco singer-songwriter E.G. Phillips shares brooding single ‘Boil The Ocean’

"A fabulous heartfelt confessional... A purveyor of the urban blues, Phillips offers an enthralling proposition in this beautifully wrought song" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A romancing of the senses with its noir lit contemplation and that almost boozy air to its fiery breath... a soulful engagement as off kilter and unique as it is warmly beguiling and emotively comforting" ~ Ringmaster Review
'
"E.G. Phillips channels dark singer-songwriters… Like a distant cousin of his forbearers Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and Leonard Cohen... It's always satisfying to discover something with such an old wise soul." ~ Real Gone

San Francisco-based artist
E.G. Phillips presents his new single 'Boil The Ocean', a Nick Cave / Tom Waits-esque taster of his new 'Outlaw The Dead' EP, set for release on November 2 via Ducks With Pants Records.

This EP was recorded in Studio C of Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco (AKA
Wally’s HydeOut) at the former Wally Heider Studios — the same space where such legendary artists as Herbie Hancock, Santana, Grateful Dead, Green Day and Dead Kennedys recorded some of their most legendary releases.

Produced by
Chris McGrew, this music was mixed with the assistance of Billboard-charting producer Jaimeson Durr (Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Hope Sandoval).

"This song has gone through so many rewrites and rejiggerings over the years, it's a bit of a ship of Theseus — which is entirely appropriate given the nature of the song. It's inspiration comes from those corporate phrases you hear ad naseum if you've ever been part of that word — you know, "eat our own dogfood", "circle back", "take it offline", "open the kimono" etc., This song takes one such phrase and takes it to its logical and horrifying conclusion, depicting the circumstances under which one would in fact feel the need to actually boil the ocean," explains E.G. Phillips.

"The recording features Paul Eastburn on bass who also played on my album
'Alien from an Alternate Earth' — here his bowing on the upright provides some undulating texture, like a dark undercurrent — an undertow that could pull you down below the surface."

This follows the sultry jazz offering
‘I Am The One Who Ghosts’ featuring Spanish artist Mar Vilaseca on vocals, the lead track 'It Ain't Good to Be in Love With You', a jazzy affair that showcases his confessional songwriting, and the single 'A Bridge Too Far (MacArthur Station)' featuring Grace Renaud on vocals.

Hailing from Chicago, Phillips ultimately found greener grass in the Bay Area. His musical journeys grew more adventurous since relocating at the turn of the century, especially since venturing out on the open mic scene in San Francisco -- finding a musical home of sorts at Bazaar Cafe.

With the steadfast backing of his band
Ducks With Pants, Phillips blends lyric-driven compositions with his own special blend of whimsy and cinematic imagery, offering a wry take in dealing with the longings of the heart and the madness of existence.

The music offered on the 'Outlaw The Dead' EP was born of that alchemy that develops between veteran musicians who have performed together many times and have created many records together, as is the case with Kevin Seal, Chris McGrew, and Christopher Fortier — who have been playing together in various bands since the mid 90s, including progressive punk band Griddle and psych rock outfit Seal Party.

As of October 4, 'Boil The Ocean' is available across fine music platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, where Phillips' back catalogue can also be explored. The full EP is out on November 2 with Phillips playing his release show that night at The Utah Saloon in San Francisco.

Synthwave Horror Duo MIDNIGHT DANGER Premieres New Song + Music Video, "Radio Hell"

Grab your skates and get ready to dance and trance like roller disco zombie! Synthwave horror duo MIDNIGHT DANGER is now premiering an electrifying new single, "Radio Hell," along with an 80's horror inspired new music video! The colorful video can be found below while the single is now available to stream everywhere HERE.

The band comments on the new offering, "The new single 'Radio Hell' was originally meant to be part of the 2021 release 'Nights at Lake Milsen.' However, while the songwriting was developing, it became clear that the uplifting dancing vibes of the main melody wouldn't fit the dark atmosphere of that album.

"So the song was set aside temporarily until in 2023 while Midnight Danger's USA debut tour was finally taking shape, 'Radio Hell' got the final touches and was set to release as a single, being a song that stands on its own in Midnight Danger's discography.

'The song also gained a music video, a tribute to old school roller skating videos. As typical from Midnight Danger, the horror elements are also there and the video delivers a rad combination of 80s, zombies and roller skating! The video was shot in São Paulo, Brazil by local fans, reaffirming Brazil as one of the strongest Midnight Danger's fan bases."

In addition, MIDNIGHT DANGER will be performing in the United States for the first time ever this October! Just in time for Halloween, the horror-themed outfit will embark on its "Nightmare Over the West Coast" starting on October 26 in Phoenix, AZ. The trek will then make its way up the coast and draw the final curtain on October 31 in Seattle, WA. The full itinerary can be found below!

For a taste of what to expect from MIDNIGHT DANGER's dynamic and haunting performances, watch the official video for "Live at The Slaughterhouse" HERE.

Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, rising star Midnight Danger brings an electrifying fusion of influences to the music scene. Conceived by producer and guitarist Chris Young in late 2015, this music endeavor draws inspiration mainly from synthwave music, '80s metal, and classic horror. Midnight Danger crafts a nostalgic soundtrack journey with pulsating synthesizers, driving rhythms, and a cinematic essence that instantly transports listeners back to the era of neon lights, arcade games, and VHS tapes. While evoking a sense of nostalgia for the 1980s, their tracks also add modern production techniques to create a unique fusion of old and new.

Setting the stage alight both musically and visually, Midnight Danger's live performances are an enthralling spectacle that marries their music to a synchronized light show engaging the audience in a theatrical like horror movie experience.

In January 2018, the debut album "Malignant Force" was released through NRW Records, instantly carving its mark on the synthwave landscape. The album rapidly soared in popularity, with vinyl and cassette editions selling out in a flash and accumulating a staggering 4,5 million streams on Spotify.

The release catapulted Midnight Danger in the synthwave/retrowave movement and resulted in numerous live performances over Europe and South America alongside some of the main artists on the genre, including also an unforgettable appearance at São Paulo's Horror Expo alongside revered metal acts like Therion and Deathstars.

The journey continued with a cascade of singles, collaborations, and contributions, such as being featured in the soundtrack of the documentary "In Search of Darkness," a comprehensive tribute to '80s horror. The sophomore album "Chapter 2: Endless Nightmare," unleashed in August 2020, made waves by capturing the essence of synthwave/darksynth reaching best-selling charts on both Bandcamp and iTunes. The album has currently over 1,3 million streams on Spotify. The tracks "Endless Nightmare" and "To the Shadows and Back" were elevated further through music videos that showcased the enigmatic Scary Dee on drums - an undead persona that takes center stage in Midnight Danger's live performances.

The saga continued with the release of "Nights at Lake Milsen" in November 2021, a groundbreaking work that saw collaboration with a legion of rock and metal icons spanning four generations. Guitarists Kane Roberts (Alice Cooper), Rafael Bittencourt (Angra), Martin Sweet (Crashdïet) and Sonia Anubis (ex-Crypta), singer Danny Rexon (Crazy Lixx), and Australian saxophonist Max Cruise, lent their virtuosity to this remarkable endeavor. The original graphic novel titled “Chapter 1: The Malignant Force” is included in the vinyl edition of the album, showing the background story that connects all of Midnight Danger’s albums.

With three full-length albums, numerous singles, and a trail of sold-out physical albums, Midnight Danger's music has resonated worldwide, garnering millions of plays and streams. Also renowned for captivating live performances, in 2022 Midnight Danger returned to the stage following a three-year hiatus, reaffirming their commitment to thrilling the fans and continuing to illuminate the synthwave landscape.

Now, marking a significant milestone, Midnight Danger makes their debut in the United States, showcasing a setlist that features songs that trace their entire career.

NEW ALBUM WAR OF BEING OUT THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 VIA KSCOPE

"… one of the best albums of the year" – Album of The Month — Rock Hard FR

"Bon voyage to The Strangeland" – 4/5 — URN

"…a turning point" – 87/100 – Rumore

"exudes an almost beguilingly beautiful and monumental atmosphere" — Metal Hammer DE

"...the band's most dynamic, varied, complex and at the same time most accessible..." — eclipsed

"This band's quintessential release – not to mention a frontrunner for metal album of the year." — 9/10 — Metal Hammer

"…not only TesseracT's most accomplished record to date, but it's one that adds greater extravagance wonder and distinction" — PROG

"...What makes Tesseract truly special is its ability to take the concept of metal and to expand it into something more cerebral, more visceral. They balance the crushing, off-kilter riffs with lighter, ambient shades that are no less intense. They blend the best of the past to create something truly magical in War Of Being" — Sonic Perspectives

After releasing the album of their career in the form of War Of Being, TesseracT invite fans once more to a beautiful listening experience in the form of "Echoes." Watch the visualizer below

The track lands with earth shattering impact as guitar riffs collide with polyrhythmic drums, giving way to malleable bass lines, coupled with a vocal performance that is as vulnerable as it is brilliant. Gearing up for the track's climactic grand finale where aftershocks of groove reverberate throughout the listener. It's the perfect prologue in understanding the relationship between El and The Scribe.

Frontman Daniel Tompkins says, "The concept of 'Echoes' is based around one of our main characters, ‘El’ and 'The Scribe.' They play a major part in the concept and game as The Scribe is a splintered part of El's ego that has the ability to control destiny and rewrite the past."

He continues, "This has always been a hard-hitting song and it adds a real dynamic to the album. As a stand-alone track, it exudes feelings from the heights of euphoria but also the depths of desperation. There's a real sense of frustration and regret throughout, especially as the song climaxes with its brutal admission."

The visualiser, created by Asiel Manuel Rodriguez Espinosa  (@asiel_type ) peels back yet more layers from the mysterious world of "The Strangeland." It moves from peaceful moonlit plains to firey ruins taking with it listener to another world.

Tomorrow, the band will kick off their biggest tour to date in North America, bringing listeners right into the world of "The Strangeland." This leg will span from October 5 in North Carolina right up to November 13 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee. Cameron Alexander Throws the Ultimate House Party in New Music Video for "Time To Break Up"

Rising pop punk prodigy, Cameron Alexander, has today released his latest explosive anthem, "Time To Break Up" alongside an energetic and emotionally charged music video. Fans can listen to the track HERE, and watch the brand new video below.

With catchy melodies, soaring choruses, and the signature grit of pop punk, Cameron Alexander brings a fresh and contemporary edge to the pop punk sound, drawing inspiration from legends of the genre while infusing it with his unique style. The music video for "Time To Break Up" swings between an unforgettable house party, featuring a free-spirited Cameron and his band in an electrifying performance, and solitary moments with Cameron driving solo, top down, symbolizing his journey of moving forward.

Speaking on today's single release, Cameron Alexander shares:

"This is a song that really grew with me, and I take something new from it every time I hear it. It feels wise and content, yet so melancholy and apathetic, I didn’t even know what I was trying to convey when the lyrics spilled out of me in a studio session the day after a breakup. With time, I realized it’s about a part of life that is less romanticized and talked about than the gut-wrenching dramatic heartbreaks: The ones where deep down you both know it’s not going anywhere and you’ve learned what you could, but ripping the band-aid off still hurts. It’s about keeping the bigger picture in mind that makes it easier and inspiring to go forward. Enjoying driving with the top down and trying not to look in the rearview mirror. And in a music scene rich with dramatic heartbreak songs (trust me, I’ve got my fair share of those), I found it really refreshing and meaningful to make."

Sharing insight as co-producer of "Time To Break Up", Justin Cortelyou continues:

"The first time I heard Time To Break Up, I was blown away. Cameron brings so much energy and emotion to this track, that it was just a matter of matching that with the mix. I love the pop punk sensibilities he has and how approachable his melodies are. It was one of those songs you can’t wait to finish just so you can listen in your car and enjoy it!"

The remaining half of the co-producing duo, Liam Muckala, adds:

"Time to Break Up started as just an addicting guitar riff from Cameron’s back pocket and a catchy humming melody we couldn’t get out of our brains. We built the track and Cameron took that home, finished writing, and now it’s one of our favorites we’ve done yet. Cameron’s drive and musical ability continues to surprise me with every one of his songs!"

Elevated by the collaboration of decorated producers Justin Cortelyou (Taylor Swift, Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires) and Liam Muckala (Anthony Amorim, Tornsey, Eva Snyder), Cameron Alexander has infused his music with a blend of contemporary innovation and timeless authenticity, setting the stage for his rise as an artist to watch in the industry. As more begins to approach on the horizon, be sure to stay tuned for more Cameron Alexander news coming soon.

Autarkh Descend Into Darkness on New Single

Autarkh venture into a bigger, brighter and more uplifting headspace on their new album. On the first two singles off Emergent, the Dutch contemporary metal band tapped in to supercharged industrial-sized riffs and even clean, radiant harmonies. But their new single "Duhkha" finds them struggling to hold onto that serene state of mind.

Watch the tormented lyric video for "Duhkha", which was created by Spread Motion Design below.

'Emergent' comes out November 10.

"'Duhkha' shows a darker side of the journey on 'Emergent'", says Autarkh. The song opens with eerie feedback and ominous sound effects that could've been ripped out of a slasher flick. Meanwhile, the band's founder Michel Nienhuis screams with vein-popping intensity about being consumed then thrown into an inferno.

The darkness that hangs like a shroud over "Duhkha" comes from a personal place. "Clouded gaze, clouded aura / Left behind with my past self", Nienhuis cries out, his final words before a tidal wave of battering electronic drums and gloomy dissonance pulls him under.

"The final part of this song reflects an unreleased DODECAHEDRON song that was written as an homage to my former band mate Michiel Eikenaar, who passed away in 2019".

Dutch contemporary metal adventurers Autarkh are back with their sophomore full-length album Emergent. Michel Nienhuis, founder of Autarkh and Dodecahedrom, teamed up again with guitarist/producer David Luiten (Inferum), bassist Desmond Kuijk (Dear Mother) and electronics wizard Tijnn Verbruggen to create the follow-up to their highly acclaimed debut album 'Form In Motion', released by Season Of Mist on 12 March 2021. Monica Kendrick (Chicago Reader, US) on the relevance of the group’s debut:

"And I’ll call it now: given the time to flourish and sink into the ears of an audience, Autarkh will become highly influential on the next generation of extreme metal."

'Emergent' is another testament to Autarkh’s imagination and creativity. It delivers increased versatility and contrast, and sees the band expand towards more uplifting and consonant territories. Form In Motion explored the boundaries of sonic extremes; on 'Emergent', Autarkh broadens its horizon and shows diversity and nuance while preserving its intense and razor-sharp edge.

With nine tracks, 'Emergent' is a sonic exploration of the inner universe where all things light and dark can be encountered. The listener is lured into an "Open Focus" (a meditative state of mind) in preparation for an inward journey along the physical energy centers. From the thumping synth basses of "Strife" and the menacing sludgy melancholy of "Duhkha", we move into the bewildering blasts of "Trek", where stellar harmonies will eventually burst through the oppressive atmosphere. The trip continues with the crushing downtempo groove that enforces "Refocus", as well as the mind-bending a capella interlude "Aperture" and the frivolous "Eye Of Horus" and "Countless Kaleidoscopes", to finally deliver all-encompassing enlightenment with Ka.

Composers Nienhuis’s and Luiten’s statements and states of mind capture the same capriciousness and unease of 'Form In Motion', this time leaving a more open, diverse and radiant imprint. With exciting vocal harmonies, bold contrasts and a vivid imagination, Autarkh sheds a bright light on the inner self and exposes it to the world with intensity and conviction. That makes Emergent an evocative release with a multilayered yet crystal-clear production that promises a bright future for Autarkh.

Spanish Thrashers ANGELUS APATRIDA Share New Single "Snob," ft. Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed)

Spanish thrash metal masters ANGELUS APATRIDA are now revealing yet another pummeling new offering! The new single "Snob" features guest vocals from Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta and is a vicious aural attack that channels classic thrash metal elements with a modern twist! The track can be found along with a lyric video below.

"Snob" is taken from the band's eighth studio album, 'Aftermath,' which is quickly approaching its release date on October 20, 2023 via Century Media Records!

ANGELUS APATRIDA vocalist/guitarist Guillermo Izquierdo comments on the single, “No doubt this is another highlight from ’Aftermath,’ pure and raw violence with this neck-breaking tune called “Snob." Together with the one and only Jamey Jasta from hardcore legends Hatebreed, we’ve been able to deliver an aggressive song full of message, with a bunch of fast and insane riffs and drums, colored with tons of groove and plenty of old school vibes! The lyric video has been done by our longtime friend and artist Josep Caballero from RCV Visual Studio. Grab a beer and your old skateboard and enjoy this future classic!"

ICYMI: "To Whom It May Concern" follows up the explosive first single, "Cold," which can be found HERE.

'Aftermath' follows Angelus Apatrida's 2021 eponymous full-length, which topped the official album charts in Spain at # 1! The release also debuted in Germany at # 49 and Switzerland at # 41.

'Aftermath' features a diverse cast of guest appearances by vocalist Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), guitarist Pablo García (Warcry), singer Todd La Torre (Queensrÿche) and rapper Sho-Hai. The album was once again self-produced by the band, with recordings handled by Juanan López at Baboon Records in Albacete, Spain and mixing and mastering by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Overkill, Hatebreed, Municipal Waste, Shadows Fall) at Planet-Z in Wilbraham, MA, USA.)

Pre-orders for 'Aftermath' are now live HERE.

“Aftermath” will be available in as Ltd. CD Jewelcase in O-Card packaging for its first pressing and Digital Album with two fresh live bonus tracks (11. Indoctrinate (Live in Bilbao 2023) and 12. Give ‘Em War (Live in Barcelona 2023)), or as 180g vinyl LP in the following variants: Ltd. transp. red LP (300x copies from cmdistro and various other retailers), Ltd. transp. orange LP (600x copies from amazon.es & Angelus Apatrida), Ltd. translucent tan colored LP (500x copies from all US outlets) and as Black LP.

Previously, Angelus Apatrida released a documentary that was directed by Mike Casey, entitled '28 Months Later: A Post-Apocalyptic Metal Documentary.' The film detailed the band's journey from preparing for 2021's self-titled opus leading towards the creation of 'Aftermath.' The clip can be seen HERE.

The band will also be appearing at several prestigious European festivals throughout the summer before heading on a European tour in support of 'Aftermath' together with Death Angel and Sacred Reich in October/November! The run will be followed by a string of

dates in Spain between November and February. The full itinerary and ticket links can be found HERE.

The world has taken a battering over the last few years, but ANGELUS APATRIDA is leading the fightback.

Spain’s greatest ever exponents of forward-thinking thrash metal began their campaign at the turn of the century and have been a consistent force for heavy music ever since. From their ferocious 2006 debut album 'Evil Unleashed' and 2010’s widely acclaimed 'Clockwork' (the band’s first for Century Media), to more recent triumphs like 2018’s 'Cabaret de la Guillotine,' ANGELUS APATRIDA has become increasingly unstoppable. In 2023, they will release 'Aftermath,' a vicious and vital response to the chaos we see all around us.

With touring plans for 2020 cancelled, ANGELUS APATRIDA simply switched focus to the creative process. The result was 'Angelus Apatrida,' a self-titled record that sought to redefine its creators’ era-blending sound, with renewed intensity and uproarious lyrical sensibilities that dug deep into the realities of the modern world. Climbing to the top of the official album charts in Spain at # 1 as well as marking the band’s first ever chart entries in Germany at # 49 and Switzerland at # 41 upon release in 2021, the album showcased a band at the peak of their powers. Understandably, ANGELUS APATRIDA were absolutely itching to get back on the road, which they eventually did with a vengeance.

“We started doing some shows trying to keep things going until the summer of 2021, and then at the end of the year we were able to do some important venues and festivals,” recalls guitarist/vocalist Guillermo Izquierdo. “We spent 2022 and 2023 touring, mostly in Europe and North America. We’ve played Hellfest, Graspop, Dynamo, Resurrection Fest, Rock Fest and Leyendas del Rock, and we did our first headlining tour in the U.S. and Canada. In February 2023 we did the last four dates of the tour in Spain with four total sell outs!”

Clearly one of the hardest-working bands in metal, ANGELUS APATRIDA were not content with simply returning to the live arena. Even as they toured, work on their next album began. Pre-production for 'Aftermath' was finished in March 2023, and the band swiftly hit the studio in their hometown of Albacete, once again collaborating with trusted live and studio engineer Juanan López on the capturing of these new metal explosions. The finished tracks were then sent to the legendary Zeuss (Rob Zombie/Overkill/Hatebreed) at Planet-Z in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and polished to a devastating sheen. The results speak for themselves: 'Aftermath' is titanium-plated modern thrash of the highest order.

“Every time we sit down and write new music, we try to do the best we can and to put all the new things and experiences we had over the last few years into the mix,” says Guillermo. “The new songs are pure ANGELUS APATRIDA. They’ve got every single essence of the band. There are many songs containing more personal feelings than on previous records. We’re going deep into our souls and feelings sometimes. Since we are living strange, difficult and dark times, we liked the concept of an aftermath. After everything that has happened since 2020 and is still happening in the world, in our society, and in our lives, a lot of strong feelings have come through in the music and lyrics.”

'Aftermath' is undoubtedly the most heartfelt and powerful record in ANGELUS APATRIDA’s illustrious history, but it’s also one of the heaviest and most direct. From the neck-wrecking adrenaline rush of opener "Scavenger" to the dark might of the closing "Vultures And Butterflies," the Spanish quartet’s eighth studio record displays the songwriting muscle and playing prowess of bands like Metallica, Testament and Pantera, while still delivering a huge, jolting dose of ANGELUS APATRIDA’s distinctive trademark attack.

“We can describe 'Aftermath' as what metal means to us,” Guillermo says. “It contains the best songs we've ever written. It is just very difficult to pick just one or two highlights on this album since every single track could be a single itself.”

Confirming their sturdy reputation in the global metal scene, ANGELUS APATRIDA invited some heavyweight figures to add their talents to 'Aftermath.' Hatebreed’s iconic frontman Jamey Jasta lends his caustic bark to "Snob," while Queensrÿche vocalist Todd La Torre lends his spectacular tones to "Vultures And Butterflies." Elsewhere, Pablo Garcia, guitarist with Spanish power metal legends Warcry, displays his virtuosity on the incendiary "Fire Eyes," and Spanish rap star Sho-Hai brings the noise on the brooding "What Kills Us All. "

With no need to regain momentum, ANGELUS APATRIDA is more ready than most to let rip again in 2023. 'Aftermath' marks a pinnacle in this band’s determined and always fruitful career. It’s a defiant, uplifting and resolutely metal-as-fuck response to an era defined by chaos and fear. It’s the sound of ANGELUS APATRIDA, doing what they do, but bigger, better, louder and with more passion than ever.

“As soon as the album is released, we are starting a huge live campaign,” adds Guillermo. “We start with a big European tour that will cover most of the mainland and the U.K., and we are already working on getting back to Oceania and Asia, Latin America and making our return to the United States and Canada during the first half of 2024. Expect a great live festival season for summer 2024 and more tours! We’re coming!”

Paledusk Drop "Rumble" Feat. Masato — LISTEN

Japanese futuristic hyper-pop metal trio Paledusk celebrate the power of authenticity on new single "RUMBLE," featuring Masato from coldrain, out now via Greyscale Records and SharpTone Records.

Listen
below

Paledusk will also embark on their first-ever tour of North America, supporting metalcore monsters Polaris on the Fatalism Tour, alongside Currents and Varials. All dates are below.

Like a bull in a china shop, Paledusk break free of restraint on new single "RUMBLE," taking listeners on a rollercoaster ride through genre-defying moments of energized jubilance and moody fusion. An anthemic offering calling for the freedom to create authentically and without limit, "RUMBLE" represents Paledusk in their truest form. The riotous three-piece bounce off the walls as they traverse unique and contrasting sonic ground.

The band's diverse sound has captured the attention of music tastemakers across the world, with the band announcing earlier this year their signing to Sharptone Records for Europe, United Kingdom, North America, and South America. With Greyscale Records already covering Australia and New Zealand, Paledusk are on a steady path to world domination. The trio's sights have been set firmly on taking over the world with their unique blend of skittish instrumentals with melodramatic sprinklings since their formation in 2014.

For most bands, chaos and insanity are used as colourful descriptive words, but for Paledusk they're somewhat of an understatement. From their sound, to their videos, to their onstage performances, electronic-metalcore powerhouse Paledusk leave nothing behind as they carve a path that is truly one of a kind.

Since the release of their EP Happy Talk, word has spread like wildfire about the trio from the Japanese island of Kyushu. The band has gone on to release multiple singles with some of Japan's most hyped artists, and now they set their sights on international stages.

Their ferocious live performance earned them a place at Australia's Good Things Festival 2022 last December, where they showcased a collection of their eclectic repertoire alongside the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Deftones, NOFX, TISM, and so many more, visiting stages in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Inheriting the conventional digital rock feel of pioneers like Japanese experimental band The Mad Capsule Markets and English electronic dance act The Prodigy, Paledusk continue on their path, proudly leading the way for lawless metalcore, carrying the baton for the punk community and promising to keep their listeners guessing.

ABOUT KRAANIUM

KRAANIUM was formed in 2001 and are one of the original pioneers of the slamming brutal death metal genre. Originally founded in the depths of hell in Norway, the band is now a multinational slam machine from all over Europe.

Over the years they have released 5 full length studio albums, 3 split CDS with more releases in motion. Having toured all over Europe, USA, Russia, Asia as well as performing at many iconic festivals, they have built up a solid world wide fan base and will continue to spread the brutality of SLAM!

Since the passing of their dear brother Martin Funderud, (Former vocalist, 1978-2017), the band is dedicated to honor him as well as his passion for brutal music. Rest in Power.

THE VELDT announces tour dates and ‘Aurora Borealis’ single, a beautiful foreshadowing of their original Robin Guthrie-produced album

As they approach the release of their 'Illuminated 1989' album, the original 1989 full-length record produced by Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie, trailblazing soul-influenced shoegazers The Veldt announce North American tour dates and also present the single 'Aurora Borealis' with Elizabeth Fraser making a cameo appearance on backing vocals towards the end. Complementing this is the B-side remix, created by The Veldt around the turn of the century.

This is the second single from the album, which Guthrie produced in autumn 1989 and has now remastered for vinyl. While intended to be the band's first album, their label Capitol Records shelved the recording and sent them back into the studio with producer Lincoln Fong (Moose), resulting in their first album released with the title
 'Marigolds'.

Earlier, the band released the lead track
'The Everlasting Gobstopper' digitally (with a video produced by Jammi York and the late Yuko Sueta) and on vinyl, involving a B-side previously unreleased vinyl exclusive 'Joshuu Lullaby', also recently produced by Guthrie.

One of the most notable first-wave shoegaze bands, formed in North Carolina in the 1980s, The Veldt surrounds identical twins Daniel Chavis (vocals, guitar) and Danny Chavis (guitar). Their unique sound was influenced by Cocteau Twins as readily as Marvin Gaye and free-jazz warriors Sun Ra and Pharaoh Sanders. Referencing European post-punk while embracing modern hip-hop, these trailblazers work with transient dreamscapes as fluidly as solid song structures.

Pitchfork included The Veldt's album
'Afrodisiac', produced by the legendary Ray Shulman (The Sundays, Bjork, The Sugarcubes) and released via Mercury Records, in the top 50 shoegaze albums ever released, while Stereogum included ‘Until You’re Forever’ in the top 31 shoegaze tracks. Their sound also inspired future generations of alternative artists, including TV On the Radio.

Daniel Chavis on their inspiration for 'Aurora Borealis': "This song is about my brother's love for his newborn daughter. Written out of high school and dug out around the time the band had started to get noticed. We had written so many, but it was one of the newest pieces that we had begun experimenting. This would signal our departure from being a band that made people dance to a band that made people confused. 'The Everlasting Gobstopper' came shortly thereafter and was being finished."

Danny Chavis adds, "This song was written in 1986 and was included in the first batch of songs we demoed under the name VELDT. Having heard 'Treasure' by Cocteau Twins, this song was inspired by that very album and RUN DMC’s 'Sucker MC’s' around the same time that year."

The Veldt's journey is fascinating. Performing since they were children, the Chavis brothers’ musical roots lead back to the church and southern juke-joints, and listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. The Veldt formed in the late 80’s in Raleigh amongst the legendary North Carolina music scene of the time, initially signing with Mammoth Records - leading to a chain of major-label relationships that took the group across Europe and the U.S. playing shows with the likes of Throwing Muses, Pixies, Cocteau Twins and Jesus & Mary Chain.

After moving from Raleigh to New York, they briefly performed as Apollo Heightsbefore returning to their original name The Veldt. Joined by Japanese bassist-programmer Hayato Nakao, they together forging music that is a heady and sensual blend of shoegaze and progressive soul, dreamy soundscapes and infectious grooves. Some of the band's recent notable releases include
'The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur' EP (2017) and the album 'Entropy is the Mainline to God' (2022).

Over the years, The Veldt has collaborated with TV On The Radio, Mos Def, Lady Miss Kier (Deee-Lite), A.R.Kane and toured or played with Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pixies, Throwing Muses, Echo & The Bunnymen, Cocteau Twins, Manic Street Preachers, Phantogram, Modern English, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Oasis, Chuck D, Living Colour and Schooly D.

'Aurora Borealis' is now available everywhere, including
Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. On November 24, the 'Illuminated 1989' album will be released on vinyl, CD, cassette and digitally via Portland-based Little Cloud Records and 5BC Records. From October through December, The Veldt will be touring many cities and will be performing at Levitation Festival in Austin and Seattle's KEXP, as well as playing several exclusive dates supporting Violent Femmes.

Brooklyn artist ALY G presents electro-rap single 'Build It Up', anti-gentrification video and a call to resilience

"Aly G dishes out upbeat rap with a social conscience, this time focusing on the gentrification of and development in Brooklyn, but with a twist... shines from start to finish, grooving throughout and leaving us with an uplifting feeling. This is what music was made to do" ~ Amplify Music Mag

Brooklyn rapper
Aly G presents her debut single and video 'Build It Up', her catchy yet conscious electro-rap clapping back at the urban renewal trend in Brooklyn. This release showcases and personifies Aly G's socially conscious NYC vibe, as well as her whip-smart vocab, sly comedic observances, and rapid-fire delivery.

Concerned about the increasing gentrification happening around Brooklyn, the video was filmed at various locations near her long-time Bushwick/Williamsburg apartment - tagging local spots in her lyrics and video.

"I'm constantly inspired by the people, the places, and the vibrant energy of Brooklyn. 'Build It Up' represents what Brooklyn is within me: the fire to keep creating, building, growing, and connecting. The external parts of the neighborhoods might change, but the artistic communities and the people of Brooklyn will keep creating and bringing fresh ideas to the world no matter what. I feel lucky to be a part of the energy, resilience, and community," says Aly G.

Aly G is the neon hip hop doppelganger of musician, producer, choreographer and singer-songwriter
Alyson Greenfield, spitting rapid-fire rhymes with equal parts fun, feminism and fierceness, slaying the mic with quirky, clever raps about gentrification, misogyny, superpowers and ovaries.

An Ohio native, Alyson started freestyling while at college in Wisconsin, the rhymes spontaneously popping into her head. With her MFA in creative writing, she moved to NYC and built up a following as a singer-songwriter until one night at a hip hop club, a spark ignited that birthed the artist, who evolved into Aly G. Incorporating beatboxing into her performances, along with covers of her fave 90s rap classics, she gained attention from The New Yorker and HuffPost for her innovative genre-blending and high energy performances. She has also recorded her own renditions of LL Cool J's 'Mama Said Knock You Out' and Coolio’s 'Gangsta’s Paradise'.

Inspired by Lauryn Hill, Saul Williams, Santigold, and Salt-N-Pepa, she began writing material that personified the fun-loving, colorful swagger of Aly G, including the hilarious true story about a friend’s unfortunate celeb experience 'Michael Cera C*ckblocked Me at SXSW'. Twice featured at The American Beatboxing Championships (earning props from Rahzel from The Roots), she has performed alongside artist /actress Awkwafina and visionary emcee Jean Grae.

Earning praise from NYC's The Deli, she was one of the first five artists chosen to record at Converse’s Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn, Alyson Greenfield is also one half of POLYVOX, a duo with Joe McGinty (Psychedelic Furs), creator and curator of NYC’s famed Loser’s Lounge.

Alyson’s music and original compositions have been featured on Fox, Lifetime, AOL, WNYC, and in TV/films including 'Conception', 'Super Sleuths', 'Creatures of Comfort', 'Dance Moms' and 'The American Templars'. She also founded NYC’s Tinderbox Music Festival, showcasing over 100 emerging female musicians from around the world in its four-year run, garnering press from The New York Times, Time Out New York, Billboard, Glamour and more.

'Build It Up' is out now, available from fine digital platforms, including
Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. Aly G is currently working on new collabs with producers Jon Blok and Grammy-nominated producer Baby Paul (Nas, J Dilla, Monie Love, Kanye West).

CARNATION Flex Their OSDM Chops on New Single

'Cursed Mortality' casts Carnation in a deeper and darker light. The first four singles off the Belgian band's new album experiment with gloomy synths, melodic leads, clean vocals and lyrics inspired by sci-fi classics and a real life horror story from WWII. Their new single "Cycle of Suffering" is a brutal reminder of why Carnation are at the forefront of the old-school death metal revival.

"A mere month separates us from the highly anticipated launch of 'Cursed Mortality'," says the band. "It is with great excitement that we present to you the premiere of the album's last single 'Cycle of Suffering'".

Simon Duson can make his voice sound big and beautiful.
Just watch him belt and belch out one of the album's earlier singles in one take. But there's no clean singing on "Cycle of Suffering". Instead, Duson busts out his most cavernous, ghastly death growl. The rest of the band also take inflicting maximum punishment deathly seriously, pumping the song full of thunderous double bass kicks and a squealing guitar solo that seizes the spotlight.

"'Cycle of Suffering' is a relentless track that expertly treads the line between commanding lead sections and thunderous rhythmic riffage," says Carnation. "It's an absolute blast to perform, which is why we gave it an energetic music video that focuses on our live performance. Undoubtedly, this track will end up in the set list of many of our future live shows".

Faithful fans will undoubtedly find what they have come to love and expect of Carnation  on ‘Cursed Mortality’. However, they can also expect the unexpected, as the band venture further into previously unknown territories.

The artwork for 'Cursed Mortality' was masterfully crafted by the late Mariusz Lewandowski (†), who is renowned for his remarkable talent in creating majestic. dark. surrealist. masterpieces. Lewandowski's haunting visuals perfectly capture the essence of the album.

Carnation also collaborated with the revered Lord of the Logos, Christophe Szpajdel, who created a brand new logo that perfectly encapsulates the essence of ‘Cursed Mortality'. Known for his iconic designs and ability to bring forth the spirit of the music through typography, Szpajdel's contribution further solidifies the album's visual identity.

The second decade of Carnation begins now. Prepare for an intense journey concerning the exploration of fleeting mortality.

For the last decade, CARNATION has been at the forefront of reviving old school death metal. There’s something to be said about the artfulness of taking something so primitive and walking that fine line between keeping its classic authenticity without sounding tired or dated. CARNATION has always teetered this line, injecting a fresh and contemporary approach without losing the genre’s time-honored traditions. However, the band’s third endeavor sees CARNATION erasing those boundaries entirely and abandoning any and all conventions as they traverse into daring new territory. ‘Cursed Mortality’ pulls the Belgian death dealers deeper into experimental new waters, taking risks as the band steps out of the shadows of its predecessors and comes into its own identity. 'Cursed Mortality's' statement is clear: This is no longer simply a revival; this is CARNATION’s rebirth.

“We still play death metal and we still identify as such” explains frontman Simon Duson. “But we know that this is also our second decade performing it. And while it is very important for us to stay true to the old-school style, we know we had to open things up a bit and reach out to those who might be interested in extreme metal, but aren’t that much into the old aspect of it. It also feels fresher to us because we’ve decided to change our visual approach, with a new logo, a new look on stage and so on. In a way, it really feels like the beginning of a new chapter for CARNATION.”

Album number three is much more than just a new chapter, but rather feels like a sequel to an already storied career, punctuated by press accolades, an impressive history of live performances, and a lauded discography consisting of several EPs, splits, and two critically acclaimed full-length albums.

With the debut of its first EP in 2015, CARNATION quickly garnered the attention of fans, media, and most notably of all, record label Season of Mist, who quickly noticed the band’s potential and picked them up without hesitation. Upon forming this union, the band dropped its first full-length, ‘Chapel of Abhorrance,’ in 2018. Angry Metal Guy astutely noted that the Belgians’ debut album was “one of the best death metal debuts of the year, and CARNATION have earned their place as one of the most promising new bands in the genre'' while Distorted Sound Magazine echoed these remarks, calling ‘Chapel of Abborhance’ “one of most brutalizing, well executed and, above all, fun, death metal releases of 2018'' in its 9/10 review of the album.

CARNATION’s momentum only seemed to pick up from there. The band kept busy on the road, performing a variety of tours with their death metal brethren in Deserted Fear, Schirenc Plays, Pungent Stench, and Pestilence, while headlining stages in Japan and Brazil. Upon conquering the live circuit and laying waste to audiences across three different continents, the band unleashed its 2020 opus, ‘Where Death Lies,’ which broke them out from the underground with the kind of seismic force that most bands can only dream of. If the critics liked ‘Chapel of Abhorrance,’ ‘Where Death Lies’ was the moment they fell in love, enamored by Carnation’s relentless brutality and crushing precision.

While touring had been halted that year, CARNATION never stagnated nor waivered. The band’s tenacity paid off with their sophomore effort being named among one of the best records of the year by The Pit, Chicago Music Guide, Pandemonium Metal, and many more, while the single “Iron Discipline'' was singled out by Loudwire as one of the best songs of 2020. Legacy outlet Kerrang! also took notice, ranking the band among the “50 Greatest Death Metal Bands Right Now,” cracking the top 20 picks.

While the Belgian slayers still stay true to their roots, they step outside of their comfort zone with more groove, melody, and progression, showcasing their versatility as musicians and clearly defining their own unique sound. ‘Cursed Mortality’ sounds darker, with passages of melancholic melodies that compliment the heaviness.

Most bands might feel anxious about making such dramatic changes, especially to incorporate clean vocals within such extreme music, CARNATION embraces the unknown and does not fall victim to fear or monotony. “As artists, it's something natural,” explains Verstrepen about why the band has shifted direction. “Doing the same thing over and over again doesn't inspire us. We love to create and we love to explore new paths. We knew some people wouldn't like clean vocals in death metal, but we don't want to think of that too much. We stand 100% behind our music and we really like what we did here. Some people will drop out, but there will definitely be others joining! As Lemmy would say, 'You win some, you lose some.'”

Indeed, a personal metamorphosis is always a risk, but one that historically has paid off. The first records of bands like Black Sabbath, Carcass, Death, or even Bathory sound nothing like the mid-late era offerings of those very same artists, and yet, those records that strayed off the beaten path are regarded as some of the most seminal albums in the history of metal. Playing it safe sounds easy, but it isn’t always a part of a legend’s origin story. And CARNATION isn’t here to play by the rules; the band is ready to take a leap of faith and redefine an era.
