CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - Release Cover Of 'On The Hunt' by Lynyrd Skynyrd + European Tour Dates Kick Off May 1st

American heavy-riff devotees Corrosion Of Conformity have released a cover of the Lynyrd Skynyrd track 'On The Hunt', taken from the illustrious Southern Rock band's third studio album Nuthin' Fancy, released in 1975. This cover version brings a singular C.O.C. swagger and sludge-laden groove to the classic track.

This 'On The Hunt' cover lands shortly before C.O.C. kick-off their forthcoming three week tour across the UK and Europe, set to include performances at Desertfest London, Desertfest Berlin, and Soulstone Gathering in Krakow.

Corrosion Of Conformity are currently working on new material with New Orleans drummer Stanton Moore, for an eventual new release on Nuclear Blast.

The band's latest studio album No Cross No Crown was released in 2018 to rapturous praise from fans and peers alike. Iconic guitarist and vocalist Pepper Keenan has returned to the fold, with No Cross No Crown arriving as C.O.C's first studio album to feature Keenan since 2005's In the Arms of God. 

No Cross No Crown somehow sounds as though no time has passed between 2005’s In The Arms Of God and today. Recording in North Carolina with longtime producer John Custer, C.O.C cut No Cross No Crown in about forty days, over the course of a year. Some of the new jams sound like they could've easily appeared on Wiseblood or Deliverance, two of C.O.C’s most revered records. Beefy Southern stompers like 'The Luddite', 'Little Man' and 'Forgive Me' are interspersed with melancholy guitar interludes like 'No Cross', 'Matre’s Diem' and 'Sacred Isolation' - just like Sabbath used to do in the ’70s.

"My Soul's Demise is a song about love and pain, where you're willing to do anything for the one you love, no matter what, even if that means that it will destroy you in the meantime. Yet sometimes you wonder, would that person do the same for you? It's inspired by the medieval practice of sin-eating, a ritual where mourning families hired a sin eater to consume their loved ones' sins. The sin eater would eat food left on the dead person's chest. The food was believed to have absorbed the deceased's lingering sins. Sin eaters were paid next to nothing for their service, they were reviled, and seen as filthy people, full of sins. Villagers even avoided looking them in the eye. I learned about the sin-eater when watching an episode of Outlander, where a sin-eating ritual got introduced. 

"Now it gets a bit more personal. While reading about the sin-eating ritual, and writing the lyrics, it reminded me of a story my dad once told me. A long time ago, my dad suffered from psychosis and was admitted to a psychiatric clinic. He told me a lot about his experiences, what it was like, and how his mind worked at that moment. He thought he was the devil incarnate, possessed by something dark, and he felt like everyone felt his evil presence as he walked by, everyone would flinch away from him. This made me write the bridge of the song “No one can even look me in the eye, everybody is flinching away from me as I pass by”. Somehow the story of a medieval sin-eater reminded me exactly of the way my dad explained how he felt, as if he had consumed the world’s sins and darkness. 

"I read about the last known sin eater of England as well, which was a very heartfelt story. His name was Richard Munslow, and he died in 1906. It is believed that the tragic loss of four of his children at very early ages that died within one week may be the reason he resurrected the macabre ritual. This made me write the song from the perspective of willing to do anything for the ones you love.

"The songwriting process of My Soul’s Demise went pretty fast. After writing the lyrics, I recorded some of my vocal ideas a cappella. This is how we mostly start writing a new song. I then sent it to René, with a note saying that it sucks and that he could probably throw it in the bin right away. Haha! Luckily he didn’t throw it away, and he actually liked what he heard, and made the basics for the song that same night. We brought the draft version of the song to our producer Joost van den Broek, and worked on it some more. Another instrumental part was added, so I needed to come up with some more vocals for that extra part. This was the more ‘quiet’ bridge part where I am doing some weird stuff. I wanted to do something with my voice as if I just consumed so many sins that I couldn’t handle it anymore, as if it had taken over my body, sort of possessed, and got inspired by Anna von Hausswolff.

"We shot the music video at a medieval 12th-century church in the north of the Netherlands, and it took us two days to shoot it all. I always get fascinated by the atmosphere of standing in such an old building, shooting this video there felt perfect and so fitting. We were very lucky to be able to get all the freedom and time to be creative. 

"Another thing that was perfect, is that the whole band portrayed a role in this story, even our ex-bass player Frank. Frank played the corpse, and it felt like we held a funeral for his bass-playing years for Blackbriar, celebrating the awesome time we spent together. A symbolic farewell. For this video, we needed some extra actors to witness the ritual. We opened up a casting call to my Patrons, so the people you see sitting in the benches are all Patrons. But not only Patrons, you can also see my parents! For me, the video story itself was more challenging than other videos we did so far. I can say that I gave it my all, and I hope that you feel something when watching it. It’s one of the more personal songs of the album."

Formed in 2012 by Zora Cock, René Boxem, Bart Winters, and Frank Akkerman, Blackbriar crafted their first single in 2014 with 'Ready to Kill,' but it was 2015’s second single 'Until Eternity' that truly propelled them into the scene. As A.I. takes over, banks collapse, climates further spiral out of control and humans grapple with an existential living nightmare, 3TEETH is laying it out straight with a brutal new outlook on track “Merchant Of The Void,” revealing their first salvo into a new era of sonic exploration.

“Merchant of The Void” follows previously released track “Paralyze” (featuring Ho99o9), both of which hail from 3TEETH’s much-anticipated fourth album, forthcoming via Century Media Records (more details to be announced soon).

To lay the foundation for the new material, 3TEETH migrated to the deserted quiet of Joshua Tree, escaping from the palpable anxiety of their hometown of Los Angeles for fresh new perspective. The material is currently being wrapped up with a solid extended team including the accomplished sound designer Mick Gordon(best known for his work on the gaming phenomenon DOOM) who produced several of the tracks along with producer Nick Rowe and mixer Sean Beavan (NIN), bringing in another dimension to the band’s unmistakable sound.

VOYAGER Announces New Album, Shares New Single + Music Video

Perth’s fearless, riff-laden, genre-bending band VOYAGER will be releasing its eighth studio album 'Fearless In Love' on July 14 via Season Of Mist! The opening line of Voyager’s 2023 Eurovision song "Promise" is somewhat prophetic. As vocalist Danny Estrin belts out the lyric, “Have you ever done anything like this before?” audiences across the globe will realize they haven’t. Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, with their song Stefania. This year, the United Kingdom will host the competition on Ukraine’s behalf with the theme United by Music. This is the ninth time the United Kingdom will host Eurovision and the fifth time it’s hosted for other countries due to financial or capacity issues.

TREV LUKATHER to release single THE SOUND ,Today

'The Sound' is the first official single released off of Trev Lukather’s forthcoming debut solo album.  'The Sound' is a retro, modern 80s arena anthem with a strong message behind it. 

Lukather about the song:
“The Sound is about hope of unity during a brutal time of division. We are so lost in our phones and ourselves. Lack of communication. War. Loss of freedom. Loss of human rights. Racism. Political meltdowns. Misinformation. Deadly earthquakes. We are derailing literally and figuratively. I wanted to send a message of how we are all on this floating speck in the universe together trying to find the meaning of why we are here. The reality is, no one is better than anyone else. We are on the same level. If that was more clear to everyone, we wouldn’t have so much hate in our hearts. If we knew how small we are, it would be liberating, not debilitating.”

Lukather on the inspiration behind the music video:
“I was in an Uber and my driver was a young woman from Iran. She was telling me about all of the struggles the people, especially what the women were going through over there.  I couldn’t even wrap my head around it. She reached out again on social media begging me to raise awareness because I had a following. I thought to myself, what can I do? I’m just a musician from LA. A post is not going to make a difference but maybe a song with a visual explanation will. At the same time, we have all of the things listed above with what the song is about. The video also shows the message of unity as well. Heroic acts of people putting their life on the line to pull people out of rubble. It strikes a nerve. It hits home. To be honest, I’ve never been more proud of anything that I’ve done.”

About Trev Lukather:
Los Angeles native Trev Lukather comes from rock royalty. Having grown up with Steve Lukather (Toto) as his father, he was raised and surrounded by music his whole life. At an early age he started to self teach by watching some of the greats while out on the road. At the age of 12 he was on stage playing in front of 20,000 people at the Toto reunion tour and from that day forward knew that he was going to be a professional musician. He got his first professional gig at the age of 17, working with Lindsay Lohan as her guitarist and Musical Director. Following that he worked with Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper/Hollywood Vampires/Crossbone Skully) which led him to Atlantic Records and writing for the debut album of arena rock band Halestorm. Since then he has gone on to become a well known touring musician, session musician, writer and producer working with many established acts such as Dorothy, Classless Act, Amber Van Day, and Blind Channel. He has also started a few of his own projects along the way, including Levara (formerly ZFG) who signed to Mascot Records and toured the world booked by X-Ray Touring and Artist Group International.

In 2023, Trev is looking to the future and focusing on his debut solo album titled “Invisible Friends” and his other passion of producing albums. “Invisible Friends” debut album is set to be released in the Fall of 2023 and features special guest musicians like Abe Laboriel Jr (Paul McCartney), Josh Paul (Daughtry), Bryce Soderberg (Lifehouse), Hector Maldanado (Train) Jake Hayden (Dorothy)  and Steve Maggiora (Toto) to name a few.

More important than any of the impressive stats above, Trev is driven by his innate desire to provide an escape for other people to forget about their problems and build a connection that lasts forever. Alternative rock band Don't Believe in Ghosts released their latest single "MAKES NO DIFFERENCE" on Wednesday May 3rd. The new song combines state-of-the-art indie-pop production with a modem alternative rock sound. In celebration of the new release, the band has also released their live in studio video along with new tour dates!

"Makes No Difference" is about finding it harder to play along with the expectations and pressures of life. Don’t Believe in Ghosts are an alternative indie pop band formed and based in New York City. Led by singer, songwriter, and producer Steven Nathan, the group features Dan DelVecchio on guitar, Alex Goumas on bass, and Ken Yang on drums.

The band signed with Imagen Records/Warner ADA, some achievements include singles at alternative radio stations across the country, 2+ million plays on Retail Radio, charting at #2 on All Access, and song features on many other TV shows, including “Ink Master” and “The U.S. Open”. The band has been featured in American Songwriter, Kings of A&R, and Alternative Press Magazine, who included them in their “40 Artists You Need to Hear” list. They’ve also been on multiple tours, played alongside COIN in the MidWest, and were invited to perform at “The Gathering” Radio Convention in Cleveland in 2021. In 2022 the band scored the soundtrack to the TV show ‘The Heart Of Saint Francis’ which was also directed and edited by lead singer Steven Nathan.

“Don’t give energy to the ghosts of your past," says Steven Nathan when describing the meaning behind the bands' name. “Worrying about what other people may think can be draining and debilitating.” Don’t Believe In Ghosts amplifies this theme throughout their music, which is honest, inventive, and meaningful. Lela says, "If you know the feeling of being trapped in a situation that doesn't bring good prospects, but still have the urge to get out of it, you can empathize very well with the story behind 'Haunted House.' For me, it is a challenge to myself to recognize bad positions and leave them behind as quickly as possible."

Robin states, "The shooting with Marius Milinski was, as always, a lot of fun. However, we used real metal chains for the video and they hurt quite a bit. Everyone of us had bruises after the shooting."

For their most recent album VENUES went into the studio with producer Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay) to record Solace, who coated their massive sound with a metallic alloy of remarkable precision.
 
"We wanted to be more metal," Robin comments. "There were some pop sensibilities of Aspire we wanted to replace with rather the opposite."

"2020 showed all of us how much the band is helping us keep our sanity," vocalist Robin muses. "Almost the whole band went through minor or medium crises since the release of our debut. Relationships went sour, things were ended and begun. In times like these, our second album was the light at the end of the tunnel. Something we all could look forward to. Our music held our heads above water."

Claypool is currently gearing up for a massive 41-date Summer of Green Tour 2023 with the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, which marks the band’s first appearances together in 20-years. Kicking off in Stateline, NV on Wednesday, May 17th before winding its way from coast-to-coast, the tour will feature several festival appearances, including the Summer Camp Music Festival, the Mountain Music Festival, the Riverbend Music Festival, and the Peach Music Festival. Featuring Les Claypool (bass), Sean Lennon (guitar), Harry Waters (keys), Paulo Baldi (drums), Mike Dillon (percussion), and Skerik (horns), the set will include a full performance of Pink Floyd’s iconic tenth studio album ‘Animals,’ which was famously captured on the band’s second 2001 live recording ‘Live Frogs Set 2.’

ERDVE comments: "'Neigti' in Lithuanian means ''Deny'.' The song and video is about denial as a collective mindset, where fundamental moral beliefs form the basis of a social identity. In this case, those beliefs cannot be challenged, otherwise the whole understanding of one's existential identity is at stake. Facing the truth would mean the loss of that identity, therefore considered a threat by itself. When ERDVE formed in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius in 2016, the band had a clear aesthetic vision of creating a unique heavy sound that experimented with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal – yet was not bound by any unwritten “rules” surrounding those genres. ERDVE’s members had already been active in their local scene and performed in various acts such as NYKSTA, SRAIGĖS EFEKTAS, and SPIRALE. A self-made tape version of their debut made its rounds in underground circles and the Lithuanians received the rare honour of being picked straight out of the dreaded demo pile by virtue of their musical strength and compelling quality.

The core ideas behind ERDVE are translated into lyrics, visuals, and sound by in-depth reflection on concepts such as domestic violence, utmost disgusting behaviour, crimes against humanity, and extremism. Their debut album 'Vaitojimas', released in 2018 by Season of Mist, delivered exactely that! 

The new offering 'Savigaila', which translates as "self-pity", revolves around overcoming the numbness within the great challenges of unsettling reality, and accepting them as they are. Regret, envy, self-regard, love, care and togetherness. From completely understandable to the most unreasonable sense. This idea is turned into melodies, rhythm, and sound by ERDVE on the bands upcoming sophomore album. 

But make no mistake, ERDVE successfully transformed these melodies into a new unnerving experience on how THEY perceive life and with 'Savigaila', you may find that enjoying life, can be entirely implausible...

Guitarist and songwriter Owen Traynor says, "We wanted to dive further into the chaos and suffocation that comes with our music, but with more hardcore influence. Over time, we've been shedding our math-y, deathcore origins in favor of something just as heavy, but more memorable. There are some tracks we have rewritten riff for riff. We did whatever was necessary to make these songs the best they could be."

This time around, the group teamed up with producer Taylor Young [Twitching Tongues, God’s Hate] and recorded the six-track collection at The Pit Recording Studio in Van Nuys, CA. During this time, the band leveled up from every angle. They sharpened their sound with throat-slitting hooks, hardcore grooves, and even moments of clean singing on the standout "Disavowed." Elsewhere, "Tunnel Vision" illuminates the band’s knack for a mind-numbing metallic barrage, while "Tightrope Walker" never relents with 65 seconds of pure bloodletting.

Hudson Valley, NY-based quartet Off Road Minivan, featuring Fit For a King bassist Ryan "Tuck" O'Leary, will release their second album May This Keep You Safe From Harm on June 23 via Tooth & Nail Records. Pre-order it here.

"Basement' is a song written about and dedicated to a dear friend — Alex," says O'Leary. "Through our lives and struggles, we always forget how short our time here really is. When the worst happens, we assume and hope things will just get better until we are too late. Alex was a brilliant mind and amazing friend. Though we wish we had more time together, writing this song has brought back such incredible memories and connections. It feels right to start the album and release off by paying homage to him."

Off Road Minivan, whose lineup is rounded out by Evan Garcia Renart, Miles Sweeny, and Dave Trimboli, came to life in 2018 with the Spiral Gaze EP. On its heels, 2020's full-length debut, Swan Dive, immediately captivated audiences as "Vampire" surpassed 1 million streams and counting. Of the single "YOU," FLOOD raved, "'YOU' is nearly just four minutes of heavy breakdown, pivoting from heartfelt verses to its aggressive dream pop chorus." 

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the band members wrote and sent ideas back-and-forth. Simultaneously, they stitched together a throughline carried by the real-life interviews with members of Tuck's family.

"I've been secretly recording my family for at least a-year-and-a-half, including the voice clips from my grandmother, who was the first," Tuck says. "I'd listen back later and find the right part I needed for the album. I essentially wanted to preserve these moments forever. I got my mom, dad, sister, grandmother, brother-in-law, nephew, best friend, and wife on tape. Now, I'll have it all on vinyl format for the rest of my life."
 
As for the album's title, it's also rooted in the familial. 

"When my grandfather joined the military and was going off to war, my grandma gave him a bible with a metal cover," reveals Tuck. "On the front, it said, 'May this keep you safe from harm.' Even if you got shot in the heart, the bible would protect you. When I first started touring, different family members gave me mementos to feel safe on the road. The bible was from my grandmother. Now, I've got it tattooed on my chest, so I don't have to bring the original with me. All of this is about preservation of time. It's a way to document some of my most fragile moments and share the delicate, untouched vulnerable side of myself maybe you haven't experienced from Fit For a King. It's the other swing of the pendulum."

Saint Agnes are also making big waves in the gaming world, with the release ofDead Island 2 last week. The game, which features the Saint Agnes song "And They All Fall Down," has already sold over a million copies.

Hailing from the UK, Saint Agnes are all about honest lyrics, intense vocal performances, plus rage-fuelled music intended to give a voice to those closer to the fringe than the center.

As much gang as band, Saint Agnes seek to empower those who've been battered and bruised yet refuse to lie down, and it's a thread that runs deep within Bloodsuckers — SA's first album for Spinefarm and the follow-up to 2019's Welcome To Silvertown, issued on the band's own label.
 
In addition to … Silvertown, Saint Agnes have released a number of singles, videos, and EPs, embarked on headline tours in both the UK and Europe, and appeared at a host of festivals, including Download, 2000trees, Isle of Wight, and Kendal Calling.

One thing's for sure, it's got nothing to do with rule-books or playing it safe...

From the title track onwards, Bloodsuckers is a genre-jumping body of work, taking in elements of metal, punk, industrial, and grunge, without being bound by any specific style; the 11 tracks here come straight from the source, largely self-produced and mixed (NIN collaborator Sean Bevan lends his mixing and production skills to "Follow You"), and this self-contained approach provides an extra emotional weight throughout, with doom trap provocateur and Kerrang! cover artist Mimi Barks further fuelling the chaos on the short, sharp shock that is "Body Bag."

Created in the months following the unexpected and untimely death of Kitty's mother, Bloodsuckers explores a number of themes, including mental illness, pent-up rage, undying love and, of course, grief; from the trash-metal howl into the night that is "Bloodsuckers" right through to broken ballad, "This Is Not The End," a poignant reflection of Kitty’s still-raw emotions, this is a call to outsiders everywhere...

Concludes Kitty, "Creating this album gave me a reason to get to my feet at a time when I really wasn't sure if I could. I've tried to put everything I've been feeling into it, all the pain, the rage, the grief, even the unexpected moments of beauty and belief. I hope it makes you feel less alone. I hope it makes you feel bigger, badder, and stronger. We might be damaged but that doesn't mean we're worthless. This is a record for the defeated, the crushed. We might be broken but that doesn't mean we're not whole. Bloodsuckers forever, Saint Agnes forever."

"Choosing what songs to make videos out of from Dance Devil Dance was harder than ever, with some very strong candidates," says Eckerström. I like how it leans into the good rock 'n' roll times we like to mix with the destructive energy of the metal stuff. It feels like we are the only band who could've made this video."
