Impure Wilhelmina Stream EP Ahead of Release Date

IMPURE WILHELMINA are no strangers to reinvention. For the past 25 years, the Geneva quartet have rolled hardcore riffs, velveteen cleans, atmospheric sludge and gloomy melodies into post-metal that's as sharp and versatile as a Swiss Army Knife.

Now, Impure Wilhelmina are breathing new life into several time-worn classics. 'Dead Decades' flips the smoky, after-dark romance of
"La Javanaise" into a lovestruck indie rock triumph, while also paying a faithfully mind-bending tribute to King Crimson.

'Dead Decades' comes out this Friday, October 6. Their new EP also includes a cover of The Cure, plus two unreleased songs from the recording sessions for Impure Wilhelmina's latest album 'Antidote'.

Listen to all of 'Dead Decades' a few days early below.

“We'd been wanting to record some covers for a long time," says Impure Wilhelmina. "The opportunity came in 2022 after the forced cancellation of a European tour at the end of the pandemic. We chose three songs that we all love, released during three different decades - 60s, 70s and 80s - and all three are very far removed from our usual sound. Two previously unreleased tracks from the 'Antidote' album sessions complete the EP. The record has a very strong nostalgic vibe, and we're particularly proud of the result. Enjoy our Dead Decades!”

For 25 years, Impure Wilhelmina has been shaping a singular music on the borders of rock and metal. The Geneva quartet has never been afraid to reinvent itself and to push back the stylistic barriers, without ever losing its strong identity. Intensity, melody, power and melancholy are the key words that guide the band's discography, developing record after record a subtle blend of metal, post-hardcore, new wave and indie rock sounds.

Impure Wilhelmina has experienced many line-up changes over the years around Michael Schindl, singer-guitarist, main composer and lyricist. Founded in 1996, the group quickly built a reputation in the local, then Swiss and European independent scenes. The band has released a 7″, an EP, a split and seven full-length albums (see discography).

Impure Wilhelmina has regularly collaborated with sound engineers and producers Serge Morattel (I Can't Believe I Was Born In July – 2001, L'Amour, La Mort, L'Enfance Perdue – 2004, Prayers And Arsons – 2008) and Raphaël Bovey (Black Honey – 2014, Radiation – 2017). These five albums illustrate the constant musical evolution of the band, which from a very dark and metal base gradually incorporates more rock elements. The clear vocals occupy an increasingly important place in the compositions, reinforcing the intensity and melodic depth.

In 2015, thanks to the great response to Black Honey, Impure Wilhelmina signed with the reference metal label Season of Mist, which published Radiation two years later in 2017. Skillfully navigating between melodies and dissonances, always at the service of raw emotion, this sixth album was unanimously acclaimed by the press and the public, opening the doors to wider recognition.

In 2019, the band received great reward by being one of the four recipients of the grants for contemporary music awarded by the City of Geneva. This support has enabled Impure Wilhelmina to start working on a new album with confidence and with the will to develop their sound and get out of their comfort zone. The band put a lot of efforts in the elaboration and production of its new songs, notably by calling on Yvan Bing, producer and sound engineer, to accompany the four musicians throughout the creation process. This successful collaboration began in the summer of 2019 and continued for over a year, giving rise to Impure Wilhelmina's seventh album, Antidote. Released in may 2021, this album is a testament to the creativity and versatility of the band, which never ceases to explore new horizons without ever getting lost.

After two European tours in 2022 (with Crippled Black Phoenix and MØL, then Shores of Null), Impure Wilhelmina focused in 2023 on the vinyl reissue of their second album "I can't believe I was born in July", for its 20th anniversary, and the release of a new EP entitled “Dead Decades”, which features three covers and two previously unreleased tracks.

'Jeane' by The Smiths immortalized in power pop version by Minneapolis' The Persian Leaps

"Silky fuzz and solid hooks echo The Smiths, Orange Juice and Teenage Fanclub with great enthusiasm... celestial guitar jangle" – NME Magazine

"Striking, upbeat and invigorating... steadfast straightforward relatable and infectious power pop. They translate strong melodies and interesting themes into catchy songs with drive, positive energy and charm" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Unpretentious and infectious... vast riffs, euphonious vocals and pop sensibility. captivatingly pleasurable blustery indie rock" – Louder Than War

"Truncated treatises in big-guitar post-punk power-pop" – The Big Takeover

"Huge riffs echoing through your speakers, melodious vocals and the sort of pop sensibility we’ve come to expect from bands like Nada Surf" – Austin Town Hall

Power pop / indie rock outfit
The Persian Leaps presents their new single 'Jeane',released via Land Ski Records. This propulsive and addictive rendition of one of The Smiths' lesser known tracks celebrates the band's colossal body of work and the impact it has had on so many people. Originally released in 1983 as the B-side to 'This Charming Man' on 7-inch vinyl, it would later be re-released in several formats in 1992.

Based in Minneapolis, The Persian Leaps surrounds principal songwriter, vocalist and guitarist
Drew Forsberg, who wrote solo under that name for years before finally assembled a band in 2012. Steadily serving up 90s college rock-inspired compositions, their distinct sound is cleverly built on a magnetic alternative rock foundation.

"This cover of 'Jeane' is my tribute to The Smiths, who have been an important influence on me since 1985. I never took guitar lessons, but I did buy a 'Meat Is Murder' songbook and learn to play the songs as best I could. Without the Smiths, The Persian Leaps would still exist, but we'd sound very different, with less jangle and happier lyrics," says Drew Forsberg.

"Despite being a huge fan of The Smiths since 1985, I'd never actually heard 'Jeane' until 5-10 years ago. The song blew me away. It's not unusual to track down a rarity or B-side and find it interesting if underwhelming, but 'Jeane' felt to me like an essential Smiths song that's been unfairly overlooked. It also sounds unfinished to me - as though with a few more takes and some production love, it could have been an A-side. I'd always wanted to cover a Smiths song and "Jeane" felt like one I could put my own mark on and perhaps even introduce to people who don't know the original."

This single follows The Persian Leaps' widely acclaimed 'Machines for Living' EP (2022) and the 'Drone Etiquette' album (2021).

The Leaps got off on the right foot with their 2013 debut
'Praise Elephants' EP, described by NME Magazine as “celestial guitar jangle”. They then released an EP every autumn until 2017, delivering one perfect power pop cocktail after another - from 2014's sophomore 'Drive Drive Delay' EP to their fifth 'Bicycle Face' EP.  Following the massive 2018 anthology 'Pop That Goes Crunch', the Leaps' return as a studio project, releasing the 'Electrical Living' LP in 2019 and the 'Smiling Lessons' EP in 2020 as a duo together with Jon Hunt.

As of September 13, 'Jeane' will be available across online platforms, including
Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp.

Dalton Dover Releases 'Never Giving Up On That' Collection

Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, Dalton Dover releases his eight-song collection Never Giving Up On That via Mercury Records/UMG Nashville, featuring two new songs including “Dirt Roads and Jesus” and an alluring cover of “If I Ain’t Got You.” Listen to Never Giving Up On That HERE.

“This has been such an exciting time in my life, and it means so much to be able to share it with all of you,” shares Dover. “So many milestones and memories have been made with these songs and what better way to celebrate that than putting them all together and adding some new ones. We can’t wait to bring more new music to you soon.”

Along with “If I Ain’t Got You,” a staple and fan-favorite in his live set, “Dirt Roads and Jesus,” written by Dover with his producer Matt McVaney and Alex Maxwell, is a striking ballad, expressing where he feels closest to God. As he debuted the song during his first performance at the Grand Ole Opry, he explained he’d faced some tough times throughout his life, but his faith has always brought him out the other side to better days.

Today’s release follows barn-burner “Night To Go,” praised by
MusicRow as Dover “has already proved himself to be a masterful country balladeer, a story-song teller, a heartache prince and a heart-tugging sentimentalist…He can also spit out a country rocker with the best of ‘em: this kicks hillbilly butt,” asserting the song is “more proof that stardom should knock on his door.”

Dover’s first official single “Giving Up On That” debuted as the most-added song at Country radio and continues to climb the charts. The official music video, filmed near Dover’s hometown in Rome, Georgia, will premiere next Wednesday, Sept. 27 on CMT, CMT Music,
CMT.com and Paramount’s Times Square Billboard.

He made his international debut earlier this year at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour. This summer, Dover performed across four stages at CMA Fest, including the Nissan Stadium Platform Stage, and played Luke Combs’ Whiskey Jam Bootleggers Tailgate Party at Gillette Stadium in July. He has been on the road with select dates supporting Tyler Hubbard, Parker McCollum, Justin Moore and Priscilla Block among festival performances. For more information and tickets, visit

About Dalton Dover

Lauded by MusicRow as a “master country talent,” Dalton Dover’s current chart-climbing single “Giving Up On That” via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records was the most-added track at Country Radio upon its debut with 60 first week adds and can be found on his latest EP Never Giving Up On That, featuring eight tracks including “Night To Go,” “Baby I Am,” “Hear About A Girl,” and more. Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, Dover made his Grand Ole Opry debut in December 2022, followed by his international debut in 2023 at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour. This summer, Dover performed across four stages at CMA Fest, including the Nissan Stadium Platform stage and played Luke Combs’ Whiskey Jam Bootleggers Tailgate Party at Gillette Stadium in July. Dover is currently on the road with select dates supporting Tyler Hubbard, Parker McCollum and Priscilla Block among festival performances. By the age of 16, Dover had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R veteran and founder of Droptine, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover. His debut track “You Got a Small Town,” produced by McV, quickly garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, MusicRow, Country Now and Wide Open Country. With his debut and his follow-up “Baby I Am” earning notable playlisting, Dover was named a Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch along with a spotlight as Billboard’s February Country Rookie of the Month and a nod for MusicRow’s 2022 Discovery Artist of the Year. KOLBY COOPER SAYS “HELLO FROM THE ROAD,” AVAILABLE NOW

Praised by People as “Country music’s newest badass,” Kolby Cooper has been packing out venues and racking in streaming numbers typically reserved for household names since he was 18 years old. Now at only 24, the touring powerhouse and prolifically gifted songwriter with a frantically devoted fanbase dials in on the highs and lows of being on the road and the loneliness felt being away from loved ones with his latest “Hello From The Road,” available today via BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records in partnership with Combustion Music. Listen now below.

Wishing he was at home while also enjoying the perks of tour life with his band and seeing the world, Cooper brings his vivid storytelling to life with a magnetically enticing beat.

“'Hello From The Road’ is a song we wrote about being on the road for the past 4 years, and it was specifically inspired by a night in Birmingham after a show when our former merch guy got knocked out cold in a pool game gone wrong,” explained Cooper. “I called my wife when we got back to the bus and told her it was crazy out here, and I can’t wait to be home."

Written by Cooper with David Garcia and Brett Tyler and produced by Andrew Baylis, “Hello From The Road” continues his newly unveiled Country-rocker sound and follows his Grand Ole Opry debut, the fiery anthem “
Kill Me” released earlier this summer, and his acclaimed label-debut album, Boy From Anderson County To The Moon, that Whiskey Riff and Raised Rowdy declared as one of the top albums of 2022.

Continuing his strenuous packed-out headlining tour-schedule throughout 2023, Kolby Cooper has “proven that he has everything it takes to hang with the big dawgs in country music"
(Whiskey Riff).

About Kolby Cooper:
Only three years out of high school, still living in his small hometown of Bradford, Texas, Kolby Cooper started selling out shows and clocking millions of streams using only his songs as muscle, earning streaming numbers competitive with household names. Now, at only 24 years old, having amassed over 330 million on-demand streams, Cooper’s label debut album Boy From Anderson County To The Moon is out now via BBR Music Group / Wheelhouse Records in partnership with Combustion Music. A prolific songwriter known for his cut-throat, highly relatable break-up anthems and uncensored lyrics, “Cooper has already made quite the name for himself” (American Songwriter), writing songs that fans sing back to him from the very first note, including just-released tracks. “Blazing a trail to stardom” (People), “there’s one thing for certain about Cooper…the man is versatile as all hell. He can have you hyped up through the roof or have you crying in your beer at the corner of a bar on a Friday night” (Whiskey Riff). Now, “Country Music’s Newest Badass” (People) is giving his rabid fanbase exactly what they demanded with his latest “Hello From The Road” and the fiery anthem “Kill Me,” introducing a fresh, pumped-up new sound that’s been commanding his electric live shows. Continuing his strenuous tour schedule throughout 2023, catch Cooper headlining sold-out shows all over the country, bringing with him his signature blend of wailing electric guitar and stadium-level anthems. New Jersey art rock collective ELK CITY release their seventh album, 'Undertow', via Magic Door Records

"Elk City’s cool and elegant sound draws on 1980s “dream pop” and bits of 1960s folk-rock" ~ The New York Times

"Sophisticated – vivacious, harmonious and memorable due to many factors, not least of all is the remarkable vocal timbre and convincing delivery of vocalist Renée LoBue, recalling Eddie Brickell at times and Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick at others" ~ Music-News.com

"Clever lyrics, winning arrangements and superb production, but with a seemingly darker underbelly... one of the best albums of 2023. From start to finish, this is a solid offering – a thoroughly pleasing and inspired aural experience" ~ The Spill Magazine

New Jersey art-rock outfit
Elk City present their seventh album 'Undertow'. Like their previous album 'Above the Water', this record is inspired by the band’s love of documentaries like 'The Source Family' and 'Wild, Wild Country' - films that explore the allure of cults and extreme alternative lifestyles. In the lead up to the album, the band released the singles 'Tried To Move On' and 'Strong (You're Not Alone)'.

Founded by
Renée LoBue and Ray Ketchem, Elk City is brilliantly rounded out by Luna’s Sean Eden, Richard Baluyut (Versus) and Chris Robertson (Psychedelic Furs side project Feed, Punch Havana).

Ketchem, a renowned producer (Guided By Voices, Luna, Gramercy Arms)recorded, mixed and mastered the 'Undertow' album, which is being released via Montclair, NJ-based
Magic Door Record Label, co-founded several years ago by Guided by Voices' Kevin March, Ketchem and artist Renée LoBue.

“‘Undertow’ is the companion piece to our 2022 album ‘Above the Water’. Both albums were recorded simultaneously. We actually considered releasing them together as a double album. ‘Undertow’ is the darker of the two. Numerous songs on ‘Undertow’ are long and sprawling and take the listener on unexpected adventures. Of course, there are a few pop songs too. Like all our albums, there are pop songs, but Undertow has a musical darkness that is unique to this release, yet lyrically it seems to be about independence and personal strength,” says Ray Ketchem.

Renée LoBue adds, “The most interesting thing about these records (to me) is that the water theme was not planned. The water theme revealed itself to us after. Even more ironic: The cover art pieces that were chosen for both records have water themes. I created both pieces of art before the records were done. At the time I didn’t realize they were part of a larger water theme expressed in the music. Upon completion, we were able to look at both the art + the music with a way more objective lens. We could see the hidden theme looking back at us. It had been there all along.”

From the opening title track, 'Undertow' sucks you into a different kind of record with peculiar pop constructs built of rare materials, found only in the wilds behind Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, which legendary studio designer George Augspurger helped transform into a freeform studio where vintage microphones, modern studio gear, and bespoke sound tuning elevate and inspire.

This is where Elk City has meticulously built this record and this band a whole other way. Songs often begin with improvised live-jams that become load-bearing beams for layers and layers of instrumentation and harmonies. It’s a process that both asks questions and answers them. What is a pop song? (Whatever we say it is) How many guitars are too many? (none) Should we add strings here? (Yes! No! Strings and what else?) Elk City’s live shows also push boundaries of what a band should be, adding and subtracting, sometimes pulling James Baluyut (Versus) into the vortex, sometimes playing acoustic, never afraid of what ifs and what is rock, really?

Even after seven albums, Elk City are still deliberately hard to define, still seekers, unafraid to shed this life and lead the listener on a journey to new sounds and feelings. And as long as they remain curious, they will report back what they have found, with albums like Undertow, packed with siren songs to lure you in and fill you with a devout ecstasy, body and soul. You came here looking for something. And now you know.

Welcome to Elk City.

As of September 22, the 'Undertow' album is available across fine digital outlets, including
Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. On September 30, Elk City will be playing a reunion show for the 90’s band Velocity Girl at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, followed by a December 1 show with Ted Leo in their hometown of Montclair, NJ.

WORMHOLE Streaming New Album Ahead of Release

Wormhole have hit the next level on their debut album for Season of Mist.

"Straight up, 'Almost Human' is a contender for Album of the Year for me", writes Michael Centrone in an early review for
New Noise.

'Almost Human' comes out on September 22. That's tomorrow, but you can go ahead and bang your head to the full album stream over on our YouTube channel

When they're not dusting kids at Nintendo or throwing on the odd Saturday morning cartoon, this Baltimore band is out honing their signature combo of brutal, technical death metal. Or, as they call it, tech slam.

Lead single "
System Erase" zips the whole tech-slam experience into one tightly clenched polygon fist as drummer Matt Tillett and bassist Basil Chiasson rip through two or three different time shifts before the breakdown comes and swallows you up with the slow, crushing force of a black hole.  Brothers Sanil and Sanjay Kumar shoot off pixelated pangs of dissonance on "Elysiism". Meanwhile, Julian Kersey's death growl is so fierce and rotten on "Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact" , you can practically smell the stench wafting through your speakers.

When you invent your own genre, you can make the rules, and in space, no one can correct your math. If Wormhole’s excellent The Weakest Among Us was 50% tech death and 50% slamming brutal death metal, their Season of Mist debut is a veritable leveling up of the Baltimore-based act’s trademark “tech slam.” It’s the kind of record that can scramble your brain and give your neck a nice chiropractic workout; Almost Human feels like the future of extreme metal, dropped down from either outer space or delivered by Nintendo cartridge (more on that later).

So, what the hell exactly is “tech slam?” Well, the gleefully amorphous and unholy term comes from an ethos that guitarists Sanil “Noni” Kumar and Sanjay Kumar discovered and perfected over (probably) thousands of hours of Metroid and Doom games, as well as, you know, actual musical mastery. Almost Human, out September 22, 2023, is more powerful, more agile, and more confounding for pie-chart-enthusiasts than anything else that came before it. The sequel is always bigger, darker, and in this case, covered in much more pixelated space horror viscera. My Wormholio calculator puts their sound at 91% tech and 89% slam, with an increase in awesome stats somewhere in the 420% range. There’s also a clear emphasis on amplifying their dissonant death influence, the kind of eerie melodies that feel like being stomped on by Samus.

There’s a clear balance to everything on Almost Human: the songs are more adventurous while also being instantly memorable. No two songs sound alike, and that diversity in songcraft (level design?) sees Wormhole pushing and pulling along their tech and slam dials to figure out what’s best for the song; spoiler, it’s always riffs. What also becomes evident after repeated listens is how carefully the Kumar brothers understand a sense of place, humor, and a consistent vibe. This is still the same band that’s known for throwing on Saturday morning cartoons, and Almost Human continues to hammer home that Wormhole the musical entity is deadly serious, but the guys that make tech slam are not stoic creatures. There’s a warmth and sense of joy when chatting with them that only gets brighter when you ask their favorite Metroid game (that’s a question for a live show). So, what is this vibe they are chasing? Sanjay shares:

“The tech slam imagery is based on Metroid lore, Doom lore, and we haven't written a song about it yet, but Alien as well. Those three things are brutal sci-fi universes, so we're trying to embody that sound. The slam riffs, you can connect the brutal killing of stuff with the brutal chunky riffs; that's been a match that's existed since the nineties. So that's the slam part, and then the tech part was harder to fit that vibe, so we kind of do it differently. I lean into very dissonance-vibe stuff, like Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia. I think disso-death and heavy, they aren't usually paired together, even though they should be.”

“And then as far as chasing the vibe,” Noni adds, “I kind of go about it two ways. With the Metroid soundtrack or universe, that vibe, there's some dark and gloomy atmosphere, but there's a lot of pretty imagery as well. We wanted to find a way to match that very pretty, kind of out-there sound cohesively in songs with a very aggressive and guttural approach.”

Like another famous sci-fi horror masterpiece of a different media, Wormhole’s shifting, amorphous style is perfectly suited to blend in and amaze just about any fan of heavy music. That’s The Thing: they can pull off whatever they want, but it’s always boiled down to that tech slam vibe. Do you like tech, melody, breakdowns, atmosphere, or dissonance? Tech slam can fill whatever void you seek.

If previous albums were early generation, lower-resolution visions of tech slam, Almost Human is the 4K reboot, where you can see every pixel of terror and awe. Wormhole are absolutely ready for their closeup. Prepare your worms and your holes, tech slam is here to stay.

Toronto's Rising Star Alyssa Rose Hunt Drops New Album Magnetic Muse Chapter 1 Where Vintage Soul Meets Modern Magic

Toronto-based artist, Alyssa Rose Hunt, is poised to take the music world by storm with the release of her highly-anticipated album, Magnetic Muse Chapter 1, out now. This alternative R&B/Soul album is a two-part masterpiece that symbolizes the yin and yang of musical expression. Magnetic Muse Chapter 1 serves as the yang chapter, characterized by bold instrumentation and lyrics that explore the initiation of romantic pursuits. Alyssa Rose Hunt's magnetic sound is a fusion of old and new, skillfully blending soulful elements to create an edgy and chill vibe that resonates deeply with listeners. The album

features a rich ensemble of live instruments, including drums, keyboard, guitar, and saxophone, ensuring a raw and authentic musical experience.

The album opens with "Trapped In My Head," a song that explores the intricate feelings associated with an emerging romantic connection. It's a deeply personal piece where Alyssa Rose Hunt sings to herself, contemplating whether to confess her emotions. With a slower tempo and live instruments, this track sets the tone for the profound storytelling that characterizes the entire album. Another standout track of this album is "You," a soul-stirring composition that delves into the desire to be with someone so profoundly that solitude pales in comparison. Drawing inspiration from legendary artists like Amy Winehouse, "You" embodies a bluesy soul vibe with a mix of old-school and contemporary sounds. This track, positioned as the second song on the album, takes listeners on a rollercoaster journey with its dynamic contrasts, creating an authentic and emotionally charged musical narrative.

TRIUMPH OF DEATH ANNOUNCE THEIR DEBUT LIVE ALBUM PERFORMING HELLHAMMER'S ‘RESURRECTION OF THE FLESH,’ RELEASING ON NOVEMBER 10, 2023 WITH NOISE/BMG

The impact of Swiss extreme metal forefathers Hellhammer is one that still resonates around the global metal scene today, such was their influence on the early extreme, death, and black metal genres. In the 40 years that have passed since their humble beginnings in Nurensdorf, Switzerland, in May 1982, they have gained a mythically iconic status despite existing for a mere two years. However the band left a highly influential body of work behind, including the three demos Death Fiend, Satanic Rites and Triumph Of Death (al re-released in 2008 as the Demon Entrails demo retrospective), the seminal Apocalyptic Raids EP, and two tracks from the legendary Death Metal compilation. In light of this legacy, it is almost inconceivable that Hellhammer never performed this music on stage.

Celtic Frost, the successor group formed by Hellhammer founding member Tom Gabriel Warrior and former Hellhammer bassist Martin Eric Ain, would sporadically play a Hellhammer song or two, and Warrior’s current band, Triptykon, have played the occasional Hellhammer song live, but the vast body of Hellhammer's work remained unperformed, until the inception of Triumph Of Death. In 2019 Tom Gabriel Warrior stated : Hellhammer will never return and will never be reformed. It is absolutely impossible to reform a band so closely linked to a very specific and unique period in time. But Hellhammer's music exists, and it is an extremely important part of my life's path. And I would like to play it onstage before my demise.

The resurrection of the music of Hellhammer had been an idea Tom Gabriel Warrior and Martin Eric Ain
discussed for many years, sparked not least by their renewed collaboration in the reformed Celtic Frost
in the 2000s. The first steps towards the realization of Triumph Of Death, named after Hellhammer's
most infamous song and intended to be a very respectful and authentic tribute to Hellhammer, were
finally taken in 2014, and the band was officially founded in autumn of 2018. Triumph Of Death consists
of individuals who not only love the music in question but truly understand it. The line-up emulates Hellhammer's final incarnation of April/May 1984, when the group had added an additional guitarist. To
date Triumph Of Death have performed numerous notable concerts globally and have brought the seminal music of Hellhammer to fans both old and new. Many of whom thought they may never see it live on stage.

Triumph Of Death’s debut live release Resurrection Of The Flesh is the culmination of three concerts. Recorded in the spring of 2023 at Hell’s Heroes Festival in Houston USA, Dark Easter Metal Meeting in Munich, Germany and SWR Barroselas Metal Fest in Portugal, the album was produced by Tom Gabriel Warrior and Triptykon's V. Santura. The record captures the band at their primeval finest; raw, foreboding and heavy. The songs may date back four decades but here they are revealed to be still just as vital today as when they were written in the band’s infamous rehearsal bunker in the rural village of Birchwil, Switzerland in the early 1980s. From the thunderous opening chords of Third Of The Storms (Evoked Damnation) to the malevolent, morbid feedback of set closer Triumph Of Death, this album is a sixty minute document of the overwhelming power of the live performance of Triumph Of Death, and it captures the spirit and intensity of these historic songs that have transcended decades to become revered and timeless.

Warrior: This album is, most importantly, testament to the unique connection that exists between the audience and this band. Hellhammer's music was an underground token in 1982 to 1984, often ridiculed and shunned, and we owe the fact that we are now able to perform it all across the globe entirely to grace, openness, and enthusiasm of those who make exactly these concerts possible. They give us as much as we given them, and my gratitude to them knows no limits.

Beartooth Collaborate With Country/Rock Superstar HARDY on New Track "The Better Me"

NEW ALBUM THE SURFACE OUT OCTOBER 13 VIA RED BULL RECORDS

Gold-selling, billion-streaming rock band BEARTOOTH — Caleb Shomo, vocals; Zach Huston, guitars; Will Deely, guitars; Oshie Bichar, bass; and Connor Denis, drums — will release their fifth album The Surface on October 13 via Red Bull Records. Pre-order it
here.

Like its predecessors, The Surface is an intensely personal and powerful journey for Shomo, who has never shied away from sharing his demons in his music and with his fans. However, the frontman has turned a corner with a more optimistic outlook and demonstrates exceptional growth as both an artist and a human being through the songs that comprise the album.

Today, the band has shared the new single "The Better Me (Feat. HARDY)." Listen
here.

This epic collaboration is the product of the mutual admiration for each other's work and their friendship. HARDY even spoke about looking to Shomo for advice on how to perfect his own sing/scream vocal delivery in a chat with
Billboard.

"There are times where we feel like there is a way better version of ourselves somewhere deep inside that we need to find and bring back to the forefront of our lives," shares Shomo. "This song is about going through the things that brought me to that conclusion. Simply put, I made a choice to be a better me."

Additionally, all previously released tracks — "Riptide," "Sunshine!," "Might Love Myself," and "Doubt Me" have tallied nearly 54 million total streams thus far.

Both Beartooth and HARDY are currently in the Top 15 on Active Rock radio charts in the US and rising! In fact, Beartooth's "Might Love Myself" moved up two slots this week and is currently at #15 on the Active Rock radio chart, which is the fastest clip at which they've cracked the top 15 in their career.

ABOUT BEARTOOTH:
Caleb Shomo first turned the pain of his struggle with mental health and self-image into music in 2013. Beartooth began as a living document, a diary, a journal of repressed rage and depression. Alone in his basement studio, screaming and singing, playing all the instruments, and self-producing a batch of furious but melodic songs filled with reflection and confession, the Ohio native stared into the abyss, initially with no intention of returning to the heavy music world that burned him as a teen. A decade later, the different pieces of his body of work connect in title, sound, and spirit. As the frontman hits 30, Beartooth’s fifth album, he Surface, completes this era in 2023. Even more importantly, it kicks off a new chapter filled with surprising optimism and just as honest. Depression is a sick, disgusting, aggressive disease below the surface. Shomo stands ready to bask in the light.

Like Nine Inch Nails, Beartooth remains a one-person band in the studio. On the heels of the introductory Sick EP (2013), Disgusting (2014) produced the band's first Gold single, "In Between." Aggressive (2016) and Disease (2018) expanded on the desperation and pain, each a step closer to a balance between the blood and tears of classic recordings and the shimmer of modernity.

Rolling Stone heralded Beartooth as one of 10 Artists You Need to Know. The rabid response to Shomo's music demonstrated how many people related to his struggle for self-acceptance. Below (2021) topped the Rock and Alternative charts and several Best Rock/Metal Albums of the Year lists. As of 2023, the Beartooth catalog boasts more than 1 billion streams across all platforms.

Beartooth began as both bomb and balm, an outright refusal to suffer in silence, weaponizing radio-ready bombast, delivering raw emotion mixed with noise-rock chaos. Other bands play the "devastating riffs and catchy hooks" game, but this music is the difference between life and death, and now, a sort of life after death while still here. The band Forbes sees "inching towards a tipping point of becoming the latest arena headliner" is now one step closer.

ABOUT HARDY:
Big Loud Records' heavy-hitter HARDY has never been just one thing. Uncaging a new chapter, HARDY soared to new heights with the release of themockingbird & THE CROW, his critically acclaimed half-country, half-rock sophomore album, adding to over 3 billion career streams. The dichotomous, 17-track effort debuted top five all genre on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and kinged seven additional Billboard charts in its first week, including Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Album Sales. The pride of Philadelphia, Miss. has earned his reputation as "a promising purveyor of keeping the spirit of classic heavy Southern rock alive" (American Songwriter), "capable of writing the big hits for radio, obstinate enough to do something completely unexpected, and savvy enough to find the throughline for it all" (Rolling Stone). A 5X ACM award winner, HARDY is a three-time CMA Triple Play award recipient, the 2022 BMI Country Songwriter of the Year, and a three-time AIMP Songwriter of the Year. HARDY has written 13 #1 singles including his own double platinum #1 single "ONE BEER" feat. Lauren Alaina + Devin Dawson, chart-topping, platinum Dierks Bentley + BRELAND collaboration, "Beers On Me," and game-changing platinum duet “wait in the truck” feat. Lainey Wilson. He's previously toured with Thomas Rhett, Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Cole Swindell, and more, and flies nationwide on his sold-out, 19-date headline arena tour, the mockingbird & THE CROW Tour, this fall.

Peter Tägtgren comments, "We wrote this song together, me and my son Sebastian. He wrote all the music and I did the lyrics. And it turned out great. We are very proud of this song. The lyrics are about false information on social media and news, and for a normal person, it's hard to understand what is right and what is wrong."

PAIN, known for high-energy live performances, are thrilled to announce their "I AM" European/UK Tour. ABOUT PAIN:
PAIN is an industrial metal project created by Peter Tägtgren, a Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. If you want to hear this story from him, it would be short and straight to the point: "PAIN was just me f*cking around in the studio, and it grew into becoming a band."

Started as a one-man project with all the vocals, instruments parts, and production made by one person… Well, it still is, but not only. It also became a prominent touring group that today consists of, apart from Peter, his son Sebastian Tägtgren (drums), Jonathan Olsson (bass), and Sebastian Svalland (guitar).

Nevertheless, a long time ago, in 1997, when the debut album of the project was released, there was nobody but Peter. By this time, he already had four successful albums with HYPOCRISY — and also had some ideas that wouldn't go with the band's style.

That's how the story of PAIN began — the story where eight albums are known and loved for such smashing hits as "End Of The Line," "Shut Your Mouth," "Same Old Song," "Follow Me," "Coming Home," and many more. This story also contains strong lyrics, rich arrangements, solid melodies, unflagging energy, killing live shows, and big plans for the future.

Alex Hall’s 10-Track “Side Effects Of The Heart” Out Now

What you need to know about 29-year-old Monument Records artist Alex Hall is that the guitar-slinger from Georgia leads with his heart. That lens shades every track on his first full-album, Side Effects Of The Heart, available now, with Hall eloquently capturing a journey through the primary plight of anyone’s lifetime: love, and the rewards and consequences of following your heart. Listen to the album HERE.

“I hope that I’m honest enough in them that people can hear themselves in these songs,” Hall shares. “I remember when certain albums came out that I could put on while cooking dinner at the end of a long day and they set a mood, and that’s what we aimed to do with this 10-track album.”

With so many of his influences swirling around throughout the writing and recording – from the guitar playing of Vince Gill to the vocals of Lee Ann Womack and Willie Nelson – Hall, “an astute guitarist with an expansive vocal range,” praises
Billboard“explores a variety of sounds on his first album. The project conveys an optimistic worldview, but it’s clearly filtered through real-world heartache and familiar disappointment.”

Released as the first taste of the project, album opener and title track “Side Effects Of The Heart” finds Hall bringing “a fresh kind of honesty to the studio as he draws from the sounds of both modern and classic country to pen this rollercoaster of emotions,” shares
Country NowThe title track gives listeners insight into what to expect on the project, along with an understanding of all that Hall has been through in his life:

First comes love and then comes the lonely
Then you’re climbing up the walls till the phone rings
You’re in Heaven, then you’re dying
Then you’re just so happy that you can’t stop crying
There’s no cure for it, and that’s the hardest part
We’re all a mess living with the side effects of the heart

The album also boasts a collaboration with 10x GRAMMY nominee Brandy Clark with “Women And Horses,” while “Her To Here” is a retrospective look at a series of events that ended a relationship. “I Know A Guy” finds Hall wittily suggesting he’s the guy to meet the laundry list of qualities a girl wants, as “Radio Waves” feeds the nostalgia of hearing a song that makes you revisit your younger years.

Rounding out the album with “Dad Now,” Hall poignantly and honestly tells the story of becoming a father, accompanied by wife Bri on violin.

Following the release of his critically acclaimed Six Strings EP, Hall and his fiancée eloped to California and shortly after found out they were expecting. With a European tour on the horizon and his debut album nearly complete, a new baby wasn’t necessarily in the plans: “Went from planning for a honeymoon to planning for a kid / Nine months fly by, first breath, first cry…Life makes you grow up in a moment…there’s so much more I gotta figure out / I’ll do my best ‘cause I guess I’m Dad now.

Driven by an intense work ethic that was instilled on the North Georgia horse farm he grew up on, Hall began playing the guitar at 14, and by 16, he had bartered a deal with his guidance counselor allowing him 60 absences in return for maintaining a passing GPA so he could begin pursuing his career. Intent on honing his skills, Hall formed a band and played over 125-dates-a-year across the southeast while completing his high school curriculum.

After graduating, Hall made the official move to Nashville and the journey to truly crafting his artistry began. After five years, in 2019, the stars finally aligned. Within a matter of two weeks, Hall signed his record deal with Monument Records and began writing with some of his most admired songwriters.

Hall hits the road this fall, supporting Tanya Tucker on tour stops in New York, N.Y., Knoxville, Tenn. and more. He’ll also perform at the Annapolis Songwriters Festival on Sept. 16 and 17, and at AmericanaFest in Nashville on Sept. 22.

About Alex Hall:
Alex Hall launches the next chapter of his career with his brand-new record, Side Effects Of The Heart. A project that tells the stories of everything the singer, songwriter, and guitar player’s heart has been through these last few years.

Growing up on a small horse farm on the outskirts of Gainesville, GA, Hall’s earliest memory is hearing Elvis Presley on his grandfather’s radio. It’s a sound he never forgot, and one that prompted him to pick up a guitar for the first time when he was only four years old. He started learning the instrument seriously in middle school, and quickly graduated from choir solos to bar gigs. By the time he was in high school, Hall was playing over 150 shows a year.

After graduation, Hall moved to Nashville, TN and signed with Monument Records. He spent the last few years opening for Tanya Tucker and hitting the road with Brandy Clark, Little Big Town, and Tenille Townes. His debut EP on Monument Records, Six Strings, was a guitar focused project featuring the playing and vocal stylings of Hall’s heroes and friends – Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, John Osborne (of Brothers Osborne), Brad Tursi (of Old Dominion), Tenille Townes, and Kassi Ashton. Six Strings gained national acclaim from the likes of Vintage Guitar Magazine, Rolling Stone and Cowboys & Indians, and helped Hall to be named to the Fender Next 2021 program.

Now, ready to bare it all, Hall is releasing his first full project as an artist with Side Effects Of The Heart. Out now, the album has a song for everyone…and a few for the dreamers out there like Alex Hall himself.

TRACK45 SHARES POIGNANT MENTAL HEALTH ANTHEM “WHEN I GROW UP” IN HONOR OF SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK

Suicide is the third leading cause of death in the US among people between ages 15 and 24. While the stigma around seeking help for suicidal thoughts and mental health issues has decreased, some people still don’t know where to turn in their darkest moments.

Today (9.15), in honor of Suicide Prevention Week, rising country sibling trio Track45 offers a hopefulmessage to young people struggling with mental health with “When I Grow Up.”

Listen to “When I Grow Up” here

“When I Grow Up” was written by Track45’s Ben, Jenna and KK Johnson alongside Jonny Price (Tim McGraw, Keith Urban) and Jaida Dreyer (Reba McEntire, Brantley Gilbert). The song is a tribute to those who have lost their life to mental health battles, and a reminder that many people’s struggles go unseen. It’s a message of solidarity for those who feel alone in their trials.

“When I Grow Up is for anyone who feels like they’re alone in what they’re going through,” says Track45. “If you’ve ever been in a dark place, or had someone close to you struggle with mental illness, it can feel isolating — especially when you’re young. Hopefully this song will create a space where people can hear their own stories in this song and feel seen.”

Track45 will share a video for the song at 11 AM CT today on its YouTube channel.

“When I Grow Up” follows the band’s ‘Grew Up On’ EP, which was released on 7.14 and featured songslike the “churning, blasting track” (MusicRow) “Drinkin’ And Thinkin’.” Listen to ‘Grew Up On’ here.

The group behind songs recorded by Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Lauren Alaina, Kylie Morgan and more will release more new music in the near future.

About Track45:

Sibling trio Track45 – Jenna, Ben, and KK Johnson from Meridian, MS – have taken family-based, small-town values and made them relevant in a modern world. The trio’s crystalline harmonies and track-charged musicianship sound current yet classic as they draw from their assorted country, rock, R&B, and pop playlists. Each is a gifted songwriter and musician with individual publishing deals and impressive writing credits – including Justin Timberlake, Charlie Puth, Dierks Bentley, Weezer, Lee Brice, HARDY, and Lauren Alaina. Their combined hopes and passion for music can be heard in every note of their dream big sound. After receiving over 1.8 million views on their version of the global hit “Family” that the rising country trio wrote alongside Billy Mann, the band released their rendition of the song, which was originally made famous by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha. Following “Family,” the band reflected on their youth and the traditions that they’ll never outgrow on the 6-track EP ‘Grew Up On’ (7.14 via BBR Music Group / Stoney Creek Records). Featuring title track “Grew Up On” (6.16) and the band’s cheeky “Last Man In Tennessee” (4.21), which “packs a punch like a shot of sawdust and whiskey” (American Songwriter), the EP intertwines the siblings’ blood harmony “perfection” (MusicRow) while telling the nostalgic story of never outgrowing what you “grew up on.” The band’s poignant new suicide awareness anthem “When I Grow Up” is out now.

Earshot's signature, driving, hard rock beats coupled with hook-laden harmonies are matched only by their unbridled creativity and willingness to experiment with musical textures and themes – elements that had captivated fans’ attention in the band’s early days and continue to do so today.

The genesis of lead vocalists, Wil Martin, with then members (Bassist) Guy Couturier, (Drummer) Dieter Hartman and (Guitarist) Scott Kohler– the Los Angeles-based band quickly shot to success after signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2002. They released their debut album LETTING GO(produced by David Kahne and mixed by Andy Wallace).

Upon its release, the band quickly found themselves on the road touring constantly with such notable rock acts such as Kid Rock, Staind, Shinedown, Hooabstank and Stone Temple Pilotsto support the record.

This national exposure, combined with an aggressive radio campaign, pushed their debut single “Get Away” to #4 on the U.S. Active Rock Radio Charts where it stayed in the Top 100 for over 64 weeks. At the same time, Earshot’s hit song “Headstrong” was featured on The Queen of The Damned soundtrack alongside other artists such as Disturbed, Deftones and Marilyn Manson, further cementing their place among rock’s elite.

However, it wasn’t until the band’s sophomore album TWO (produced by Johnny K. and mixed by Rich Costey), released by Warner Bros. Records, that they would hit mainstream success with their single “Wait.” It not only reached #9 on U.S. Active Rock Radio but was also featured on the Madden NFL 2005 and MX vs. ATV Unleashed video game soundtracks.

With three chart-topping albums under their belts and a rigorous seven years of touring and recording, Earshot took a hiatus after the release of THE SILVER LINING. Yet after a nearly decade-long break they emerged producing their long-awaited fourth studio recording AFTERMATH (produced by Wil Martin and mixed by Sam Hughes), a five-song EP featuring an intimate, re-recorded acoustic performance of “Fall Apart,” previously released on the band’s second and most beloved album TWO, as well as the release of the album’s first single "Now That It's Over."

Through the epic highs and lows of the music industry as well as life in general, Earshot once again reactivated in 2019 with four new members: Aaron Fink, the former lead guitarist for Platinum-selling Breaking Benjamin, bassist John Novak from the alternative rock band Down To Six, and drummer Mike Sylvia.

Regardless of the trends, trials and tribulations, Earshot has always remained true to themselves and continue to produce music that their fans can relate to on a deeper level, beginning with their remake of Alanis Morrisette’s “Uninvited” and their first single of 2021, “Been A Long Time”which was the #2 MOST ADDED on the Billboard (BDS) Mainstream Rock Indicator chart, reaching the Top 20 Billboard Mainstream and Active Rock Charts.

Earshot is:
Wil Martin - vocals / guitar
Aaron Fink - guitars
John Novak - bass
Michael Sylvia - drums

Mastermind Sebastián Pastor comments:
"Gardens of Fire is a slow and steady song. It tells the story of a boy who is indoctrinated "in the name of God" since he arrived on this earth, in which he could never find the promised paradise. It's a song with many melodies, melancholic and dark, with a beautiful guitar solo... musically you can hear the great influence that Hypocrisy has on me... I think you already figured this out."

Plaguestorm has released a series of impressive albums including Everything's Gone Wrong (2015), Mother of Plagues (2019) and the recently dropped Purifying Fire (2021). This time around, Pastor is joined by the incredible vocal prowess of Okko Solanterä (HORIZON IGNITED) and the masterful drumming skills of Eugene Ryabchenko (FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE), along with the talented Diego Martinez. With such prominent support, Plaguestorm's upcoming offering is set to leave a lasting impact, showcasing his undeniable talent and delivering a sound that will appeal to fans of heavier and melodic sounds.

California outfit Octavian Winters present 'Surreal', final single before debut EP 'The Line or Curve'

"The track feels like it was recorded in a studio deep beneath the earth, drawing power from subterranean caves and bubbling magma. There’s tectonic thunder in the pounding drums and rumbling bass... Such power, strong and true, a voice that scales the wall of sound beneath her with ease" ~ Joyzine

San Francisco post-punk outfit
Octavian Winters presents the single 'Surreal', which is about being disconnected from your environment and the feeling that you can’t quite put your finger on objective reality. This is the quartet's third single from their debut EP 'The Line or Curve',

Recorded in San Francisco by
Mark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated) at OW Studio and Room 5 Recording, this EP was produced by Octavian Winters and William Faith (The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith and the Muse, Christian Death, The March Violets), whose credits include Jarboe, Clan of Xymox, Bootblacks and Autumn, Faith also mixed and mastered the EP at 13 Studio in Chicago.

Born into the ghostly isolation of San Francisco in 2022, Octavian Winters is Stephan Salit (guitar), Randy Gzebb (drums), Jay Denton (bass) and Ria Aursjoen (vocals, keyboards), who together weave their visceral and ethereal sound into a texture all its own – of stories once told but half-remembered, under a dusk of shadows and stars, in an abandoned city under the winter moon.

Drawing from darkwave and post-punk traditions, Octavian Winters dives into the ethereal, their layered music counterpointing edged grooves alongside lush synth textures and soaring vocal harmonies.

“Randy Gzebb and Stephan Salit first created the slow, melancholy progression that was to be the core of 'Surreal'. To me, it had a beautifully dark and watery feel, like being caught at night on a foggy ocean. The first words that came to me as I was working up the vocal melody were “it’s surreal, so find a way”, and I thought it was curious that I couldn’t seem to get away from those words and make anything else feel right," . says Ria Aursjoen.

"Usually I will start with the melody and placeholder lyrics but, in this case, it came at once from the start and those words stuck. I started to unspool the feeling behind them: the idea of being disconnected from everything and everyone, and feeling like you can’t quite put your finger on objective reality. I feel this is a distillation of many people’s experiences over the last three years of lockdowns and schism. The song also explores the theme of the “in between” or existing in a state that is neither here nor there, and in which it is impossible to tell what is real and what are just projections."

Octavian Winters formed in late 2021 when Gzebb and Salit, former bandmates in Thrill of The Pull, met up to discuss a film/television publishing deal for Thrill’s catalog (a four-year licensing deal has since been finalized with Expressive Artists). A subsequent jam session produced several motifs, inspiring several more jams in the next weeks. Gzebb invited Aursjoen, whom he had met earlier via another project, to a session and the musical chemistry was immediately evident. Gzebb brought in bassist Jay Denton to round out the line up.

Their previous single
'Undertow' is a dark propulsive offering underlining an aspect of separation from the world and the darkness that comes out of it - a sort of ominous current capable of pulling someone away from all hope. The video was directed, filmed, edited and  produced by Jay Adams.

Octavian Winters debuted with the single
'Ondine', drawing from a mythical tragedy of love for a sea nymph, and the search ever after for her after she returns to the sea. The music itself transports the listener to a mythical world of sea elementals and an almost courtly love,

Each member of Octavian Winters brings their own rich musical tapestry to the collective and have shared the stage with many iconic acts over the years, including Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Lords of the New Church, Savage Republic, Christian Death, The Frozen Autumn, Everything Goes Cold and Black Tape for a Blue Girl.

Ria (Amenti) Aursjoen, who has synesthesia and has nurtured generational musical seeds planted by her opera diva grandmother, has recorded and performed in the UK and US in genres ranging from Celtic folk to progressive metal and darkwave. She left her graduate work in theoretical physics to pursue music, touring as a Celtic harpist and vocalist for several years before making her home in San Francisco.

Drummer Randy Gzebb relocated to California from Canada, immersing himself in the San Francisco and Los Angeles music scenes in various projects. He was a member of '80s gothic rock band
Love Club, who were signed by Sandy Pearlman (The Clash and The Dictators), released on MCA Records, and produced by Bill Buchanan (Fields Of The Nephilim, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Leather Nun).

Stephan Salit, who considers performing live his sacred space, has recorded and performed with a wide variety of groups including Specimen. Approaching each song as a canvas that calls for colour and depth, he views his playing as painting with sound.

Bay Area native Jay Denton, who spent some time on the road with Jack Kerouac, has had a diverse career performing classical and contemporary composers, and with various jazz and rock bands, playing extensively with the house band at San Francisco’s famous Condor strip club. Jay has toured in London, Japan and across the USA..

As of September 15, 'Surreal' will be available from fine music platforms, including
Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. 'The Line or Curve' EP will be released on October 13 via Stratis Capta Records. On October 31, Octavian Winters will be playing Bottom of The Hill in San Francisco (with Dead Souls and The Reptile House), followed by a Sacramento show on November 8 at Cafe Colonial (with Ashes Fallen).

Alkaloid Streaming New Album A Day Early

Alkaloid are metal's maddest scientists. The Bavarian band have crafted songs about what lies beneath the Arctic crust, on top of an ongoing, multi-part saga about a galactic civilization that ascends to god-like levels of domination.

'Numen' is their most intricate, thought-provoking and batshit insane album yet. The 70-minute behemoth hits shelves and streaming platforms tomorrow, but you can listen to all eleven tracks now thanks to our friends at No Clean Singing.

Alkaloid are still bonded together by their love of extreme metal. After all, they are a super group that's assembled from foundational members of Obscura, Dark Fortress, Triptykon and other genre heavyweights. The fiery, finger-tapped solo that squiggles loose halfway through lead single
"Clusterfuck" is crushed like an ant between colliding moons.

But Numen finds the band playing around with all kinds of experiments.
"The Cambrian Explosion" flips death metal on its horned head with seductive flurries of jazz and flamenco, while the title track is a dizzying seven-minute yarn of how a supermassive black hole came to burp up an unheard-of cosmic artifact that gives both the song - and the album - its name.

"We proudly present our third album 'Numen', says Alkaloid. "Where 'The Malkuth Grimoire' dealt with the rearrangement of existing particles into new forms, and 'Liquid Anatomy' with the creation of new particles, this album looks at the universe from the perspective of imaginary deities detached altogether from the cycle of life and death of incarnated organisms. This hypothetical viewpoint is reflected on the scales of both biological and cosmological processes. If one could shape and manipulate life and the cosmos itself, how would one go about it, and what would it mean for everything in that cosmos?

Progressive extreme metallers Alkaloid prepare to unfurl their new many-tentacled full-length, 'Numen' via Season of Mist. Featuring members of Triptykon, Obscura, Dark Fortress, and Obsidious, the Germany-based quartet of Morean (vocals, guitars, concepts), Hannes Grossmann (drums), Christian Münzner (guitars), and Linus Klausenitzer (bass) construct upon, expand away from, and journey between previous full-lengths The Malkuth Grimoire (2015) and Liquid Anatomy (2018) on Numen. In every respect, Alkaloid recommence the purposeful warp of various metallic genres they dimensionally blur. Tracks like the video single for "Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” and “Numen” posit heavy cosmological/Lovecraftian theoretic themes on top of musically-adept songs that are accessible yet undeniably intricate.

“We’ve all been around the block a few times by now as metal musicians,” says songsmith Morean. “The feeling that we’ve outgrown the narrow niche of pure extreme metal was a main motivator to start this band in the first place, ten years ago. The ‘prog’ tag is handy for us because, per definition, it already encompasses a wider range of possible styles and influences we can get away with than any one specific metal genre. This means we could ensure from the beginning that we’ll always be able to write whatever we want, no matter how crazy our ideas become. The heart of this band is always the songwriting, and we all like complex and virtuosic music in all its diverse manifestations. However, we do share a love for death metal as the smallest common denominator in the band, and we wanted to make sure no one thinks that just because we include melodies, clean guitars, and influences from other genres, we’d automatically sacrifice the brutality and relentless esthetic of extreme metal.”

'Numen' was written during the pandemic, but it was planned long before the scourge of disease wracked humanity. As a result, the songwriting sessions were predictably not "in the room" but over the Internet after the band members had isolated and worked on their constituent parts. Demos flew back and forth. Then, Tunker left amicably for personal reasons. Alkaloid could’ve folded, but the close-knit group soldiered on. They intensely relied on the professionalism and dependability of the collective to drive 'Numen' to completion. The complications of the two years it took to sonically inscribe the album into aeonic vastness didn’t fragment the end result. Instead, the process accelerated Alkaloid’s lambent, eldritch explorations. “Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” “Numen,” and “A Fool’s Desire” expertly bridge the past to the future, where Alkaloid’s originative, daedal storytelling captures (and holds hostage) the imagination.

The title, 'Numen', got its start at the dawning of Alkaloid. It’s a word that Morean fell in love with immediately, and he knew it had a place in his creative endeavors. Whereas The Malkuth Grimoire talked about combining existing elements into new structures, and Liquid Anatomy dealt with the creation of new elements, 'Numen' tries to look at the universe from a kind of meta-perspective from an imaginary god, as if the space that everything happens in was given a voice and a role as observer and shaper of everything that happens. In it, sentient panspermic mycelia are swathed in Lovecraftian nastiness—like Shub-Niggurath and the Fungi from Yuggoth—while the new Dyson chapters interpret the aspiration to reach divinity rather literally, reshaping the entire galaxy by manipulating spacetime itself. Desperate to escape their doom, the Cephalopods from previous songs have returned, too. 'Numen' is dense but not impenetrable. In fact, from the first moments of opener, "Qliphosis," to the final contemplation of closer "Alpha Aur,” Alkaloid prove to be more charismatic than ever.

UK indiepop duo KARAMELIEN releases single 'Living With The Moon', a sonic mental health boost, heralding debut album

'A true work of beauty and professionalism, taking you to your very own ascension heights" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Upbeat, a joyous folk-rock affair... bedecked in kaleidoscopic sixties sparkle, a slight splash of psychedelia and a whole tsunami of charm and grace" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A hug of soulful indie pop with groove as infectious as its melodic breath and lyrical smile is poetic... seductive captivation" ~ Ringmaster Review

UK indiepop duo
Karamelien presents their new single 'Living With The Moon',the title track from their forthcoming album by the same name. An energetic, upbeat, guitar-driven track that celebrates the rewarding path of learning to live with mental health challenges, accepting them, and feeling the freedom of just ‘going with the flow.

A poignant but cheeky track, it is wistful while also being full of a f*ck-you attitude. It’s about finding triumph through adversity. But most of all, it’s a great singalong indie pop anthem with a hook that may invade your brain and stay there for days.

Based in East Grinstead, Karamelien is singer-songwriter
Léanie Kaleido and guitarist Mark Foster - two long-time friends, whose music has forged an even stronger bond between them.

"I wrote this song after a year of counselling for depression and anxiety, linked to menopause and not helped by Covid-enforced inactivity and unease. On our final session, my amazing counsellor Jude, who I have kept in touch with, described the acceptance of good and bad days as ‘like living with the moon’.  I told her that would make a great song title and promised her I’d write it – and I did!" says Léanie Kaleido.

“So, the lyrics are a thank you to myself for getting the help I needed at the time, a finger to the armchair critics and the toxic people who didn’t help, and a willing surrender to the lunar power over us all. It’s about the feeling of freedom you get when you stop worrying so much about what everyone else thinks and learn to accept your weaknesses and discover your hidden strengths.”

Earlier, the duo released the single 'Wait For Me' featuring piano, mixing and production by Chris Mars (A Flock of Seagulls, Damian Wilson) and two tracks produced by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio - 'Lionhearts' and the epic 'Ascension Heights', which features a guitar sample from Léanie's late father Top Topham (original founding guitarist of The Yardbirds). This particular song also features bassist Mo Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson) and involved Paul Statham (Dido, Simple Minds, Kylie Minogue).

The 'Living With The Moon' single is out now, available on
Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full album will be released on October 27 and can already be pre-ordered on Bandcamp.

Iodine Releasing Classic, Out of Print Record From Garrison Now Available for The First Time In Over 20 Years

Garrison were born in Boston during the heyday of the prolific late '90s post-hardcore scene.

Their cohort featured heavy hitters like Piebald, Cave In, and Converge. Following in the footsteps of bands like Quicksand, Drive Like Jehu, and Texas is the Reason, Garrison drew from many influences to create a hyper-melodic sound that ranged from hardcore to emo — all without fitting neatly into any genre. They executed a complex and unique sound, seamlessly combining technical guitar riffs, melodic vocals, and heavy breakdowns in a way that few bands were able to achieve.

Garrison toured relentlessly, playing regularly alongside iconic bands of the era such as The Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music, Taking Back Sunday, and New Found Glory. Shortly after forming, the band found themselves signed to Revelation Records where they released their debut LP A Mile in Cold Water. The record was well received among fans and critics and made a place for itself as a notable release for the post-hardcore movement. The album opens with "After the Fight," which immediately hooks you with its melody, fast tempo, and emotional breakdowns, highlighting the band's hardcore roots and complex style. The LP rises with heavier post-hardcore moments, such as "The Dumbest Angel," and falls with several softer emo ballads, most notably on the somber closer "Favorite Goodbye Fuck."

Though Garrison went on to release numerous albums on Revelation Records and Iodine Recordings, A Mile in Cold Water remained their most significant and important release. While Garrison never broke in the same way that many of their peers did, this record clearly paved the way forward for many bands that followed in the post-hardcore and emo scenes.

Produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at God City Studio in 2001, Ballou returned in 2023 to completely remix the album to really make these songs shine the way they always intended to sound. Remastered by Jack Shirley (Quicksand, Joyce Manor) at The Atomic Garden. The album is being presented in a special gatefold jacket and features elements of the original art, and new artwork from Dan McCarthy.

The album is available for the first time in 20 years via Iodine Recordings on October 27. Get it

Garrison's original lineup will appear at The Middle East Downstairs in Boston on October 6 with Orange Island. They are also slated to play The Fest in Florida, as well.
