NYC-based alternative rock outfit
Black Rose Burning presents their invigorating new single 'Fight!', a potent taste of their third full-length album 'Ad Astra', mastered by Jason Corbett of ACTORS at Jacknife Sound.  Earlier, the band released the singles 'Night Terrors' and 'Sing to Me (E.L.E.)'

Formed in 2018 by instrumentalist, producer and engineer George Grant, Black Rose Burning also involves guitarist Frank Morin (World Inferno Friendship Society) and drummer Luis Infantas (Monster Zero).

“The final single before the release of the full 'AD Astra' record, 'Fight!' was written from a standpoint of someone who is unhappy with a partner or a relationship and has essentially given up but, for whatever reason, won’t or can’t just end it,” says George Grant.

"It always seems like you’re in the midst of one great big battle. I think there are many reasons why this happens, from loyalty to fear of being alone to sometimes even selfishness. It’s painful to realize that your belief in someone/something that you once felt had so much promise and potential has deteriorated to the point that you have no choice but to let it all go.”

PV Recording Company, which has hosted notable artists over the years, including Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy), Knox Chandler (Siouxsie And The Banshees), Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre), Nellie McKay, Julia Marcel, Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth), Ego Likeness and Voltaire (with whom Grant also played bass for 10 years).
 
Grant says, “This new music marks the debut of the entire band recording together, instead of me playing all the instruments and programming drums. It takes everything to a whole new level in terms of feel and especially in musicianship."

In 2021, Black Rose Burning released their second album 'The Wheel', one year after debuting 'The Year of the Scorpion' album. George Grant's soulful vocal delivery, instantly recognizable voice, solid instrumentation crossing several genres are standout features of this music. Roughly 40 years of songwriting across various genres has helped George embellish on clever hooks, drive and the gothic-pop sensibilities of The Cult's early years.

'Fight!' is out now exclusively via
Bandcamp. The 'Ad Astra' album will be released on September 15 on CD and also available digitally from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.  That same night, Black Rose Burning will be playing their album release show at NYC's Mercury Lounge for The Red Party.

Toronto-NYC indie rock power trio
ON is back to blow our minds with their fresh single 'Gator', released via Toronto-based imprint Indiestructable Records. Like a 2000-pound-per-square-inch bite force from an Alligator, this 6/8 groove is a hook-laden rock waltz. It’s a parody and observation about living in a gated community amongst live Alligators roaming free. Gator’s meaning is two-fold.

ON is a riveting power trio led by Lucy Di Santo (vocals, bass) with Dan Cornelius on drums and Steve Fall on guitars. Their latest music output sees the trio carry on the legacy of the band from which they were formed - 90's Sire Records band
Acid Test. its members have also been in other popular Toronto bands Danko Jones and Deliuss.

“This song was written while the band was on a writing/recording session in Naples, Florida. We stayed in a gated community - meaning pass codes to enter the neighborhood and real “surveillance”. In the community was this pond - with freely roaming alligators. And there we have it - we think we are boundless and free - and yet we have lines and gates to keep us so called “safe”. There is the illusion  - masking the element control as “safety”…. While the alligators roam freely.  One begs to ask:  who of the two “gators” is really free here?” says frontwoman Lucy Di Santo.

Dishing out infectious guitar riffs with a dash of groove, their adrenaline-laden music is a invigorating, the band paying homage to their post-punk, grunge, old-school funk and 90s college rock roots. 'Gator' follows up the band's latest single 'Make Me', a song of frustration and wanting to recapture that euphoria.

“We had a cool riff and Lucy had a great melody but we didn't have an intro to the song. We were working this up demoing it in Drew's 'Starsound Studios' in Cape Coral , Fla. Lucy took a break, went into the truck we rented and hummed a melody. I copied it on my guitar through my cheap Blackstar practice amp w/the delay feature and we put it down as a track. The vibe just worked so we kept that original track in the main verse and as a hook throughout the song. And that original track stayed even as we added more layers and mixed," says Steve Fall.

Dan Cornelius adds, “The song has a strong guitar hook and melody - and the drums are tailored to  support and enhance those elements. So I thought the drums  should be a drum pattern that anyone could tap along to ON their steering wheel while waiting for traffic. Simple drum groove. Simple drum fills.”

The band is currently busy recording their next record at 
BC Studio in Brooklyn with legendary producer Martin Bisi, famed for his groundbreaking work with Sonic Youth, Swans, Brian Eno, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock, Iggy Pop, Helmet, Africa Bambaataa, Dresden Dolls, Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop and many other notable artists.

ON also recently completed an extensive US tour in support of their critically-acclaimed 'ON' album, co-produced by
Darius Szczepaniak (Sum 41, Black Crowes, Big Sugar, Bare Naked Ladies, Jann Arden) at Phase One Studios in Toronto. The album received extensive press and radio attention, not to mention charting in the Radio Indie Alliance charts consecutively for nearly a year.

Ever since the cloaked Pacific Northwest band appeared on the music radar, UADA has always been electrified by both polar worlds. Their echelon was stark and meaningful. Within the stretch of three albums as well as dense and triumphant live shows across the globe, they have not only spiked the map of extreme metal music but their unrelenting touring schedule and unbridled will to push forward into new horizons has also earned them a reception in all the extremes imaginable, be it worship or spite.

Five sonic vessels form the nucleus of 'Crepuscule Natura,' and within it`s 41 minutes, the record easily creates a sonic and aesthetic bridge between the band`s debut, 'Devoid of Light' (2016), and their sophomore effort 'Cult of a Dying Sun' (2018), only to forge onward upon the relentless path set forth with 'Djinn' (2020). "I wrote this song after a year of counselling for depression and anxiety, linked to menopause and not helped by Covid-enforced inactivity and unease. On our final session, my amazing counsellor Jude, who I have kept in touch with, described the acceptance of good and bad days as ‘like living with the moon’.  I told her that would make a great song title and promised her I’d write it – and I did!" says Léanie Kaleido.
 
“So, the lyrics are a thank you to myself for getting the help I needed at the time, a finger to the armchair critics and the toxic people who didn’t help, and a willing surrender to the lunar power over us all. It’s about the feeling of freedom you get when you stop worrying so much about what everyone else thinks and learn to accept your weaknesses and discover your hidden strengths.”

Earlier, the duo released the single
'Wait For Me' featuring piano, mixing and production by Chris Mars (A Flock of Seagulls, Damian Wilson) and two tracks produced by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio - 'Lionhearts' and the epic 'Ascension Heights', which features a guitar sample from Léanie's late father Top Topham (original founding guitarist of The Yardbirds). This particular song also features bassist Mo Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson) and involved Paul Statham (Dido, Simple Minds, Kylie Minogue).

Atoll Unleashes New Album 'Human Extract' via Unique Leader Records

Atoll fans, rejoice! Today, the Phoenix, AZ extreme metal quintet has unleashed their latest album 'Human Extract', out via Unique Leader Records. Prior to today, the band dropped the album's titular title track "Human Extract" about a horrifying tale of alien abduction, and "The Simmering", a bone-shatteringly heavy story of being boiled alive. In celebration of the news, Atoll has released a visualizer for their song "The Final Conflict". Speaking about the track, vocalist Wade Taylor commented:

"'The Final Conflict' unearths the darkest corners of the human psyche, immersing you in a lyrical narrative that explores the eschatological battle between good and evil. Prepare to witness the rise of the Son of Satan, the clash of celestial powers, and the impending judgment day. Atoll's chilling lyrics evoke a sense of foreboding, painting a vivid picture of the final battle that will leave you breathless."

Emerging from the scorched desert wasteland in 2014, the Phoenix, Arizona-based death metal quintet, Atoll, has been aggressively serving up their unique style for nearly the last decade. Brilliantly blending groove-based slamming brutal death with more traditional death metal elements, grind, and at times even a sprinkle of ‘core, funk, and thrash. Their composition favors a "riff piling" approach rather than the more common and simplistic verse-chorus-verse arrangement, giving the music something of a progressive element with very few repeated riffs, and less predictable movements. Atoll has remained a staple in the metal fest scene, and you may have caught them live playing with the likes of Skinless, Gorgasm, Ingested, and Aborted. Their love of the tour bus life and an importance placed on always having the highest quality, high-energy performances have gained them a reputation for being a consistent, unrelenting live force.

April 2014 birthed this bulbous abomination that has grown into the mighty Atoll when they conspired to create percussive, not frills, chugging brutality. The band immediately shot up in the local AZ scene and very quickly began to expand their live performances throughout the southwest United States, building up momentum for their 2016 debut album, and straight up slammer, The Gathering Swarm. Produced by the late Griffin “The Father” Kolinski (Knights Of The Abyss) and Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me) the album was quickly picked up and released by Amputated Vein subsidiary, Ghastly Music. 

The initial success of their debut album caught the eye of Gorehouse Productions who went on to release the 2017 sophomore album, Fallout Frenzy. The vocals on this album show significant expanse in dynamic range, incorporating highs, mids, and some of the most nasty gutterals you’ll ever hear. Lyrically Fallout Frenzy expanded further on the origins of the band name, embracing themes of the atom bomb tests of Bikini Atoll in the 1950’s, and the subsequent radioactive fallout and mutations that occurred after the bombings. 

The critically acclaimed album, Zoopocalypse is released in 2019 through Gorehouse Productions. This album is in-your-face aggression from front to back. A departure from the more rudimentary slams of their earlier works, Zoo implements more technicality, more tremolo and scaling, mathier leads, and a generally more advanced death metal sound that would represent the direction of the band moving forward. The mix/master was completed by Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings (Analepsy, Organectomy), and features a guest vocal spot from Matti Way (Disgorge, Abominable Putridity, Pathology)

During the global limbo of lockdown Atoll was able to strike a deal with the legendary Unique Leader Records, and in 2022 put out the Prepuce EP. The mini-release serves as a taster of things to come as Atoll has completed the production of two upcoming full-length albums, scheduled to drop through Unique Leader in 2023 and 2024. This two-part release will be the most technically ambitious to date. Keep your eyes peeled on the tour front, and ears open because, like an atomic tsunami, Atoll is primed to decimate the masses.

Nourished by nightmares and the throbbing pulse of pragmatic terror, CARNIFEX have returned with their ninth full-length studio album, Necromanteum, out October 6th via Nuclear Blast Records. After existing as a band for over 18 years, CARNIFEX continue to experiment with fresh song arrangements, and adding a unique sense of atmosphere to their inherently deathcore foundation.

The band offers fans the next single from the album entitled, 'Death's Forgotten Children' which features Tom Barber of CHELSEA GRIN. Lyrically the song was inspired by near-death experiences that Scott and Tom have lived through. 

CARNIFEX's Scott Ian Lewis comments, “I really had a great time working with Tom. Not only did we collaborate on the vocal patterns but we co-wrote the lyrics, which is something I’ve never done before. The song came out great and we both hope the fans love it as much as we do.”

The recording process took place over the course of several weeks with producer Jason Suecof in Florida, and saw the return of live drums since COVID-19 restrictions made doing so on Graveside Confessions impossible. Mastered by Mark Lewis in Nashville, TN, the album was also co-produced by vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron. The cover artwork glows with an emerald and lavender fog; a ghostly energy erupting from the depths of a cemetery. Designed by renowned comic book artist E.M. Gist, this gateway represents the questions we ask about what lies on the other side of reality. 

Decades ago, wealthy intellectuals began installing psychomanteum in their homes; a secret room completely filled with mirrors, or a single mirror, and in complete darkness, in order to speak to the dead in other dimensions, and gain their knowledge. It was often used as a healing tool to help dissolve grief or considered a form of prophecy. Necromanteumpresents the concept: what if you could use that kind of room to speak with death, itself? Spawned in the dark swamp-scapes of Tampa Bay, Horsewhip has established itself as one of the most formidable and heaviest underground acts in hardcore. The environment that shaped them resonates in their sound — dark, ugly, and furious.  

Their new full-length LP Consume and Burn is an uncompromising sonic odyssey. Horsewhip merges together the darkest corners of hardcore punk, screamo, and metal into their own vision of annihilation. Comprised of members of Reversal of Man, Combatwoundedveteran, Sutek Conspiracy, and a myriad of other acts, it’s an album that shows the band's pedigree in writing heavy music. But more than anything, there’s a clear hunger to push the genre forward with each song. 

Horsewhip show moments of dissonance and unexpected beauty amid the oppressive weight of their sound. Songs like "Buried" offer brief respites of melody to create a forlorn sense of dread before redoubling their efforts. The aptly titled "Pain" shows its subject matter through multiple lenses, opening with a reflective riff before plummeting into breakneck speeds and full-throated chaos. Their strength lies in the raw, unadulterated fury that few can truly tap into.

The band's punishing new focus is thanks to a change in lineup, adding Dave Teten on guitar and allowing for a delta in riffage, as well as moving Shaun Drees to main vocals and Jeff Howe on back up vox. Consume and Burn calls to mind His Hero Is Gone and Disfear at their most disgusting, or Neurosis at a sped-up RPM. Each member is a master of their craft, drums guitar and bass all synchronizing into an aural mugging of heaviness. It’s a testament to the depth and richness that can be found in anger, and why hardcore is at its best when it's mean.

Speaking on the release of his new track, Gvllow shares

"I wrote this song back in the beginning of 2023 when it was consistently cold every single day in Southern California. 

I was recording in a weird space that I had rented out for a little bit in between moving and it made me realize how much of a home body I am. I love being home, it was freezing outside, and I was having all kinds of weird dreams from melatonin and out came the lyrics for this instrumental I had written for weeks. Dreams about ghosts from my past, being too far away from home, and being cold everyday. Sometimes it takes me weeks to write lyrics to my songs but I've just learned to let them come to me, I don't force it anymore"

GVLLOW released his acclaimed 'Spiritwalker' EP in the Spring of 2021, the release saw his stylistic expansion into post-punk and dark wave. About Gvllow

GVLLOW blends the sonic and visual aesthetics of 80s new wave and southern California punk rock mixed with the beach sounds of Dick Dale and The Beach Boys to create a sound that is fresh, diverse and completely unique. Born and raised in Riverside, California, he grew up in the SoCal Punk scene. He started playing drums at age nine and would go to The Showcase Theatre in Corona every weekend to watch bands such as Dr Know, TSOL and Narcoleptic Youth.

In 2015, he became involved in the bludgeoning underground rap scene, DJing for the likes of Ghostemane and Lil Peep in Schemaposse. Randall King Debuts 2 New Tracks: “Hard To Be Humble” & “The One You’re Waiting On”

The son of a working man, King was raised on the influences of country music greats Alan Jackson, George Strait, Keith Whitley and more; his neo-traditional style a byproduct of living life the way he often heard reflected in their lyrics. It was this same authenticity that rang out when King first heard “The One You’re Waiting On” and was instantly drawn to the longing, reflective track.
 
“The first time I heard this song, I had it playing in my truck and was just blown away, pretty sure I missed a turn,” King laughs. “The song is just incredible. I have sung along to it so many times runnin’ down the highway. I have always loved it and you can hear my passion for this song reflected in my vocals. I’m beyond excited to have this one out there.”
 
On the other hand, where “The One You’re Waiting On” hangs on King’s ability to project the anguish of love slipping away, “Hard To Be Humble,” also out today, balances as an upbeat, cheeky brag. With his head held high, King sings:

“We were pitched ‘Hard To Be Humble’ by my buddy Jake Gear (produces Hailey Whitters), and the email had gotten lost in the mess of what my inbox is. Two days before we went in to cut I just happened to be going back through my old emails and found this song sittin’ there, put it on, and went ‘Whoa… how was this song missed?!’ We cut this catchy fun love song and boy I got to tell ya, I’m sure glad I double checked my Gmail that day!”
 
As he continues to tease new music, King is set to kick off “KingFest” at the Nashville Palace tonight for the first of two back-to-back shows in Music City. The two-day branded festival event features support from Tyler Booth, Braxton Keith, Drake Milligan and Jon Stork. 

Already known for his road warrior diet of over 150 dates each year touring across the United States, King continues his trek internationally next month with 11 European tour stops. With five of the shows already sold-out, the overseas dates have been met with fan enthusiasm, leading King to set his sights on larger venues to meet the demand. Once he returns from the European run, King will join as direct support on select dates of Jon Pardi’s Mr. Saturday Night World Tour.

Today's newly-released songs from The Frontmen feature Rushlow singing lead on Little Texas' 1993 smash hit, "God Blessed Texas (The Frontmen Edition)," as well as "It Was Always You," an all-new tune written by Rushlow and Danny Orton.

 

"When Danny Orton and I wrote 'It Was Always You,' we were pulling from personal experiences and especially some of my own," says Rushlow. Rob Roth's entry into the music scene has been nothing short of remarkable. After battling consecutive major sport related injuries and surgeries in his early 20s, he reconnected with the guitar, igniting a passion for music that he had never fully explored before. From the very beginning of his musical endeavors, Rob Roth's talent and potential were evident. In his first-ever vocal lesson in 2019 he received a profound compliment from his coach, when his voice was likened to the legendary Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. Black Rose Burning presents their new single 'Night Terrors', previewing their third full-length album 'Ad Astra', due out in mid-September.

Formed in 2018 by instrumentalist, producer and engineer George Grant, Black Rose Burning also involves guitarist Frank Morin (World Inferno Friendship Society) and drummer Luis Infantas (Monster Zero).

“Night Terrors is pretty much straight forward - if you have them, then you know. If you don’t, imagine being in the middle of sleep - but feeling wide awake and in a nightmare. There can even be “monsters” that sometime remain in your consciousness even after you’ve woken up. Nasty business this. I tried to encapsulate the feeling in a song, but I’m not sure you could ever REALLY explain the experience. I haven’t had this happen to me in years, and I hope it never happens again honestly,” says George Grant.

“This new music marks the debut of the entire band recording together, instead of me playing all the instruments and programming drums. It takes everything to a whole new level in terms of feel and especially in musicianship.”

This single follows the lead track 'Sing to Me (E.L.E.)', released in June. Grant says, "'Sing To Me' is about that point in a relationship when things just aren't the same any more - the rough time before the breakup. That point where your partner doesn't seem to feel the same the way you STILL do. It can be devastating. You just want them to see you the way they used to - because you still care."

'The Wheel', mastered by Jason Corbett of ACTORS. one year after debuting 'The Year of the Scorpion'album.

George Grant's soulful vocal delivery, instantly recognizable voice, solid instrumentation crossing several genres are standout features of this music. Roughly 40 years of songwriting across various styles has helped George embellish on clever hooks, drive and the gothic-pop sensibilities of The Cult's early years.
 
'Ad Astra' was recorded in George’s own studio,
PV Recording Company, which has hosted notable artists over the years, including Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy), Knox Chandler (Siouxsie And The Banshees), Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre), Nellie McKay, Julia Marcel, Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth), Ego Likeness and Voltaire (with whom Grant also played bass for 10 years).

'Night Terrors' is out now exclusively via
Bandcamp. The 'Ad Astra' album will be released on September 15 on CD and also available digitally from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.  That same night, Black Rose Burning will be playing their album release show at NYC's Mercury Loungefor The Red Party.

HUNTERGIRL RELEASES POWERFUL NEW BALLAD “AIN’T ABOUT YOU”

Showing the limitless bounds of her artistry, American Idol runner-up HunterGirl today releases her most powerful song yet with the hauntingly beautiful and self-written Ain’t About You.” Listen now HERE.

"If there's anybody out there right now thinking about giving up on a dream or something they love, I hope they listen to this song and think twice about it," says HunterGirl. "We're all here to do something special." 

The songstress, who grew up winning singing and songwriting competitions and cutting her teeth performing on Lower Broadway, came home from back-to-back writing sessions one day with an ache she just couldn’t shake. Seeing the success of her friends - signing record and publishing deals - she couldn’t help but wonder if she was on the right path, still chasing her musical dream in Nashville, when she hadn’t made much leeway.

Discouraged with a breaking heart, trembling voice and eyes filled with tears, she put pen to paper for a 45-minute conversation with Jesus. Entirely self-written just two weeks before she auditioned for ABC’s American Idol, the hauntingly honest words of “Ain’t About You” flooded out of her like a resounding prayer, reminding her there’s “purpose in the wait.” 

Scared of rejection, she kept the song a secret, until she finally had some liquid courage and sang it for American Idol winners Chayce Beckham and Noah Thompson at a BBQ cookout where they were passing around a guitar. It wasn’t until she heard their shocked response and fervent encouragement that she finally decided it was time to share it:

A gutsy and prolific songwriter, her work with veterans’ organizations where she uses music therapy to transform warrior’s stories into songs allowed her to give in whole-heartedly to her emotions, writing the song with pure honesty, not worrying about fitting it into a certain mold.

Colorado-based artist
Alien Gothic presents the single 'Shine The Lights', following up their debut offering 'In The Night'.  Both songs preview their 'High and Dry' album, which will be released via Latenight Weeknight Records on August 18.

Conjuring up music that can be described as gloom from other worlds, the duo - made up of Ryan Policky of 
A Shoreline Dream and Andy Uhrmacher of Genessier - has been trying to find their way back to the original trajectory they were on previous to crash landing. Stretching cosmic goth music into a whole new realm, the Denver-based duo combines all the elements they have been striving to integrate into the project over the four years since they decided to launch this project.

"Shine the Lights is one of the first that truly formed based on all the layers we tossed at it. We pulled out all the tech, and organic instruments to mix this one up into a whirlwind of cosmic tones," says Ryan Policky.

"It's a symphony of alien sounds and favorite mellotron moments. It soars like a massive whale, while being pulled down into tight rhythms and mechanical goth patterns. A complete experiment that formed a lot of our overall sound... cosmic goth as we like to call it."

Alien Gothic creates deep gothic electronica, fused with spatial goth autoharp symphonies, deep mellotron overtures mixed with noises from unknown origins on the vast hour-long debut. Themes and words recall events that the duo have had from the far reaches of the beyond. With deep beats, lush goth rock entwines with psych and shoegaze layers to create cosmic, pulsating melodies.

Recorded from 2020-2023, Alien Gothic takes a journey out of a world gone mad, to spread a sound that is immersive and rich with varied instrumentation. Soundscaping goth is what these artists have become known for elsewhere along the milky way, their spectrums now hitting earth to bring forth a dreary alien orchestra, lost deep in a dark forest beyond the normal stretches of human imagination.

"It’s something we knew would destroy the seedy, cobweb filled dance clubs of the past, bringing forth a new era of goth... alien goth!" says Ryan Policky.
