The Intemperate Sons Release New Album "Ephemera" via FRAME|WORK

Alt-rockers The Intemperate Sons have released their third studio album, Ephemera, via FRAME|WORK, marking the latest chapter for a band whose music exists at the intersection of atmospheric alternative rock, emotional intensity, and powerful songwriting.

Produced by The Intemperate Sons and Amir Derakh, Ephemera captures the band's ability to balance expansive, immersive soundscapes with deeply personal and introspective songwriting. The album explores themes of memory, change, relationships, loss, and the fleeting nature of the moments that shape our lives.

Ephemera pushes the band into its darkest and heaviest territory yet, blending gothic atmosphere with driving alt-rock. The album takes its name from the Greek for "lasting only a day," and its songs circle the fragile, hungry nature of being alive: the body as a borrowed costume, the masks we wear, the light we can't hold on to, and the things that consume us while we consume them. Previously released singles including "Chew," "Meat Suit," and "The One That Eats You" introduced that theme; Ephemeracompletes it.

At the heart of the album is "Chasing the Shadows of Dragonflies." The dragonfly preys on things that may only last a day, and the song follows the pursuit of something that can never quite be caught, a shadow mistaken for the real thing.

For collectors and longtime fans, physical editions of Ephemera are also on the way. Vinyl and CD editions are scheduled for release in early November, giving fans the opportunity to own the album in physical formats.

In the sweltering Dallas summer of 2019, before the onset of a global pandemic, The Intemperate Sons were born from blood, grit, and a shared obsession with the ghosts of alternative rock’s golden age. The Watson family—Keith on drums, Jake on guitars, and Max on vocals, guitars, and keys—joined forces with longtime friend and bassist Mark Marks to create a sound that’s equal parts searing riffs, haunting harmonies, and unapologetic soul. Think Alice in Chains’ brooding intensity, Stone Temple Pilots’swagger, and R.E.M.’s poetic undercurrent, all filtered through a ‘70s rock haze that refuses to play it safe.

This isn’t just a band; it’s a family affair, where the unspoken bond between father and sons fuels every chord and lyric. Keith, a Dallas stage veteran, pens lyrics that cut deep—tales of regret, resilience, and the chaos of the human condition. Jake’s guitar lines, sharp yet soulful, weave narratives of their own, while Max’s voice carries the weight of a 25-year-old who’s lived a lifetime in his head. Mark, the groove-obsessed bassist, ties it all together.

The Intemperate Sons hit the ground running, catching the ear of rock heavyweights Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (Orgy, Dead By Sunrise, Julien-K), who signed them to their Frame|Work label in 2021. Even a global pandemic couldn’t derail their momentum—holed up in The Kitchen Recording Studios, they crafted their debut album, The Color Within (2022), with tracks like “Dust to Dust” and “Running Man” that pulse with raw emotion and retro grit. Collaborations with legends like Tony Franklin (Whitesnake, The Firm) on singles like “Running Man” and “Dust to Dust” and Derakh’s production on singles like “Game of Keep Away” and “Dark Day’s Night” featured on their second and highly successful album, Dark Day’s Night (2024) pushed their sound further, blending post-grunge edge with folk and hard rock undercurrents.

Extreme Metal Project DREAMS OF GRAY Releases New Single "Edges Of Thought" Ahead Of EP, 'In the Shadow of the Storm'

Balancing extreme metal with captivating melodic elements, DREAMS OF GRAY provides introspection and reflection through storm imagery and metaphors in the forthcoming EP, In The Shadow Of The Storm. The first single "Edges of Thought" explores how fear can cloud rational judgement and lead to inescapable mental torment. In The Shadow Of The Storm will be released independently on November 13, 2026.

In "Edges of Thought," a collision of thrash and melodic death metal, and brief touches of melodic black metal, create a thunderous contrast against melodic hooks, cleaner vocals, and a soaring guitar solo. The musical arrangement is designed to portray a fierce restless energy that encapsulates the core theme of the song. 

"Lyrically, 'Edges of Thought' explores anxiety and the way fear can gradually overtake rational thought." Explains project founder Luis Rivera. "What begins as a thought or passing concern can grow until it becomes impossible to distinguish between what is real and what the mind is creating. The shadows in the song represent that looming sense of impending doom—the feeling that something terrible is approaching even when there is no tangible threat. As anxiety builds, reason is pushed toward the edges of thought, eventually giving way to panic."    

Written by Luis Rivera (guitar and vocals) and Jess Lai Mieritz (lead guitar), bass on In The Shadow Of The Storm was performed by Maria Kosma, with drums and percussion performed by Juan Cardenas.

About DREAMS OF GRAY:
DREAMS OF GRAY was devised by Chicago, IL, based musician and composer Luis Rivera (ABOLISHER) in 2022. In the following year, the project released their critically acclaimed debut EP The World After. DREAMS OF GRAY seeks to draw from the wealth and breadth of metal subgenres to create something distinctive and memorable. The project enables exploration of often dark themes notably, of loss, grief, personal struggles and the shadowy aspects of wider society. 

The release of A Beginning in late 2025 saw DREAMS OF GRAY hone their sound further through a developed compositional style that doesn't restrict or confine their creativity. Inspiration is found in the likes of PARADISE LOST, AMORPHIS, IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILITY. DREAMS OF GRAY's music intentionally ebbs and flows dynamically, containing fierce riffs and high energy, as well as a deep focus on melodies and vocal delivery to produce something truly engaging and immersive. 

Now preparing to unveil the EP In The Shadow Of The Storm on November 13, 2026, Luis Rivera is joined by guitarist Jess Lai Mieritz on compositional duties, bringing a further collaborative element to the project's sonic style. Revolving around developing imagery of storms and shadows, Rivera explains, "together, the songs explore different kinds of storms—those we experience within ourselves, those that life brings upon us, and those created by the world around us—and the shadows they leave behind."

The band comment: "'Serum'’s sound represents a sort of bridge from where we were to where we are now, so it felt apt to have it not only open the new record but also mark its announcement to the world. It's low and menacing with a mechanical edge (heavily inspired by the Danish prog legends VOLA), but we’ve also loaded it with some fun twists and turns, all part of our long-held goal to condition our listeners to expect the unexpected and be open-minded. This is the only song on the record that we’ve been consistently playing live for some time now and the reception has been full of energy, giving us high hopes for the rest of the album’s verdict."

RELIQA's debut full-length, Secrets of the Future (2024) was a wonderfully compelling and thoughtful look at what may be possible for the Sydney modern metalcore upstarts. Since then, so much of what they hoped would take place, has.

STEVE HACKETT ANNOUNCES 2027 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

After 13 years, STEVE HACKETT is bringing his classic Genesis material back to North American stages with a brand-new show celebrating the very best of Genesis alongside highlights from his extensive solo career.

In 2013, Hackett's North American and UK tours culminated in an acclaimed performance at London's Royal Albert Hall, which was subsequently released as a live DVD. Since then, his timeless guitar work has continued to be heard throughout the classic Genesis albums of the 1970s, while Hackett and his world-class band have revisited several of those landmark records in concert to widespread acclaim.

Now, in 2027 and beyond, Hackett is taking the next step with a show featuring the very best Genesis songs from throughout his career, including some of the band's biggest fan favorites, alongside a selection of classic material from his many solo albums.

Joining Hackett on these dates will be his long-standing bandmates Lalle Larsson (keyboards), Nad Sylvan (vocals), Jonas Reingold (bass, guitar, backing vocals), Rob Townsend (saxophone, flutes, additional keyboards, backing vocals) and Felix Lehrmann (drums).

Alt-rock icon CHRIS CONNELLY teases 'Bye Bye Johnny Viola' (on JOHN CALE) ahead of new album celebrating LOU REED

Iconic Scottish-born Chicago-based artist Chris Connelly will be releasing his new album 'Doo Wop In The Dark: A Portrait of Lou Reed' via Shipwrecked Industries with distribution by Virtual Label. This colossal 21-track offering is a bombastic reflection on artistic inheritance, tracing how Reed’s restless, confrontational sensibility helped shape Connelly’s own creative identity.

Ahead of that, Connelly presents 'Bye Bye Johnny Viola', following the lead tracks 'Nothin' But A Rock Song' and 'House of 70's'. He explains, "'Bye Bye Johnny Viola' is a postmortem on John Cale being fired from the Velvet Underground. Like'House of 70's', the timeline whirls with events of the time: it's 1968, Valerie Solanas has shot Andy Warhol, 'White Light/White Heat' was a sonic hammer on the hippie dream, and Lou sent Sterling Morrison round to John's apartment to fire him."

'Doo Wop In The Dark: A Portrait of Lou Reed' presents a unique mix, including Lou Reed compositions -- spanning his career from the Velvet Underground onwards -- and songs penned by Connelly, detailing the creative and often turbulent path of Reed's life from his teenage years through to his death in 2013.

Moving between tenderness, menace, alienation, decadence and damaged beauty, Reed is treated not simply as an influence to be celebrated, but as a catalyst for an entire way of making music. The result is both deeply personal and deliberately expansive: a record about finding your own voice by wrestling with the voices that came before you, and about how an artist’s work can become part of another's emotional and creative vocabulary.

'Doo Wop In The Dark' echoes Connelly's acclaimed 2022 album 'Eulogy to Christa: A Tribute to the Music & Mystique of Nico' - one of the most unique, tragic and misunderstood female artists in the history of modern music. Similarly, this new album is dedicated to the wildfire, tempestuous spirit of Lewis Allan Reed (a.k.a. Lou Reed), as well as Chris's dear friend Zak Boerger (1973 -2025).

While mostly produced by Connelly and his Sons of the Silent Age bandmate Alan Holden Berliant, four tracks from this album were produced by Chris Bruce (Meshell Ndegeocello, Seal, Aaron Neville, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys, Sheryl Crow). Mixed by Berliant and Bruce from 2023 to 2026, this record was mastered by James Scott at Populist Recording & Mastering.

Connelly shares a story to highlight the meaning of this album to him:
"The kid was out shopping with his mother: a mandated, boring, endless Saturday afternoon. Spring, maybe summer, 1974. Downtown Edinburgh, some department store. On Princes Street, she shopped; he wandered aimlessly from the toys to the records. He was too old for toys, and didn’t really care about records – not yet – but something caught his nine year-old eye: a nightmarish yet beautiful photo of a strange yellow ghost. Not man not woman, all ghost, as yellow as the sodium street light that illuminated the streets there at night. The ghost seemed to be dancing, arms aloft, blurry jewelry, black lips, dead eyes. It was the Rock N Roll animal.
 
Fast forward to 2026, and 52 years later the same kid is still obsessed with the same photo. The same kid ended up buying the record in the late 70s or early 80s when he was informed by everything that this untamable spirit was every bit the drug dervish, serpent king of NYC, and the encapsulation and custodian of all the real rock myths, along with Iggy, Bowie, and The Dolls."
 
That kid is Chris Connelly, who now brings us 'Doo Wop In The Dark' -- arguably his finest work to date -- along with supporting videos, select live dates, and sleeve notes by Lou Reed biographer Aidan Levy (author of https://aidan-levy.com/books/).

Since his days with Fini Tribe, he has consistently pushed the creative envelope through such projects as Ministry, The Revolting Cocks and Pigface, as well as his solo work (with over 20 releases) or the four books he has authored. 2025 brought Fini Tribe's 3-disc anthology "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987', preceded by 'The Lives and Loves of the Serial Homesick, Vol. 1', an album dedicated to his beloved Edinburgh and 'The Birthday Poems' featuring Monica Queen (Belle and Sebastian, Thrum). 

On October 16th, 'Doo Wop In The Dark' will be released everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Bandcamp, where it is also available as a limited edition two-CD set. A selection of tracks is also being made available on vinyl.

GAVIN ADCOCK EXTENDS THE DAY I HANG IT UP TOUR INTO 2027

On the heels of the release of his third major label album in three years, Georgia native Gavin Adcock announces new dates for The Day I Hang It Up 2027 Tour, with support from Blake Whiten on all dates. Artist pre-sale begins tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13 at 10am local time. Sign up for pre-sale access at GavinAdcockMusic.com. Public on sale begins this Friday, October 16 at 10am local time.
 
Following performances in Australia in March, Adcock will embark on the second leg of his headlining The Day I Hang It Up Tour on April 1, kicking off at Gatton Park in Lexington, KY, followed by two nights at The Factory in St. Louis, MO and stops in eight additional cities, including Oklahoma City, OK, Richmond, VA and Baltimore, MD.
 
The Day I Hang It Up spans 26 tracks produced by Jay Rogers, with Adcock featured as a co-writer on all but four songs, as The Tennessean observes he “moves between country rock, traditional country, heartbreak and quieter reflections on what happens when the life you chased starts taking you away from the one you knew,” while FOX News lauds, “Expectations were high. Expectations are now met.”
 
Holler praises with his “raw, relatable persona, often drawing comparisons to country legends like Trace Adkins and Waylon Jennings, Adcock lies somewhere between head-banging rock and twangy country.”
 
The Day I Hang It Up follows the momentum of Own Worst Enemy, which debuted as the top new Country album on the Billboard Top 200 Country Chart AND the top streaming new album on the Billboard 200 All-Genre Chart week of release (Aug. 15, 2025). That rapid rise followed Adcock’s 2024 major-label debut Actin’ Up Again, which earned more than 15 million on-demand U.S. streams during its release week, making it the highest-streaming major-label Country debut from a solo male artist that year and 2024’s top streaming major-label debut across the entire genre.

ARISING EMPIRE MEDIA ALERT: New Music From TOK WATCH + LISTEN

German modern metal force TOK (The Oklahoma Kid) continue their uncompromising new chapter with the release of their crushing new single "BURNOUT," out now via Arising Empire.

Following the explosive arrival of "SPIT," "BURNOUT" pushes TOK even further into the raw, confrontational territory that defines this new era of the band. Built around punishing riffs, relentless grooves and an undeniable sense of urgency, the track channels frustration with a world designed to keep people moving, producing and obeying until there is nothing left to give.

At its core, "BURNOUT" is a refusal to play along. Taking aim at empty promises, forced conformity and the pressure to stay in line, the song captures the moment when exhaustion turns into resistance. Rather than accepting a system that demands people sacrifice their individuality in pursuit of an increasingly hollow idea of success, TOK push back with a simple message: break away before someone else gets the chance to define who you are.

Following its digital arrival earlier this year, Italian rising metalcore force HOPSYDIAN are giving their striking debut EP A Graceful Sin a physical form. Set for release on October 9 via Arising Empire, the EP will be available on gold vinyl and CD, accompanied by exclusive new merchandise.

Already surpassing one million streams, A Graceful Sin introduced HOPSYDIAN as one of the most intriguing new names emerging from the European heavy scene. Across five tracks – "GLARE," "DEVOTE," "SIGHT," "ELYSIUM," and "HEAVENLY" — the Milan-based band create a world that feels as much like a ceremony as a conventional metalcore record.

Epic, dark and deeply atmospheric, A Graceful Sin exists in the space between worship and transgression. Its songs explore devotion, love, obsession, sin and the seductive desire to transcend human limitations, constantly playing with opposing forces: holiness and corruption, light and shadow, beauty and brutality. The gold that dominates the record’s visual identity becomes a symbol of the divine, while something darker continually lurks beneath its surface.

Musically, HOPSYDIAN translate that duality into enormous cinematic soundscapes. Delicate melodies and shimmering electronics give way to crushing guitars, explosive dynamics and towering, chant-ready choruses, combining modern metalcore with elements of alt-metal and post-hardcore. The result is simultaneously intimate and monumental, creating an almost ritualistic atmosphere that runs through the entire EP.

It is a remarkably defined identity for a band still at the beginning of its story. Formed in Milan in 2024, HOPSYDIAN consist of vocalist Myles Idolo, guitarists Loris Ronchi and Nikolay Deliyski, and bassist Roberto Vezi, while the identity of their drummer remains deliberately concealed. Even their name reflects the contrasts at the heart of the project: HOPSYDIAN combines Hope and Obsidian, representing resilience and rebirth alongside darkness and shadow. Benjamin Wilson of Caskets also helped the band develop the artistic direction surrounding the project.

Despite their young history, HOPSYDIAN have already made an impression far beyond the studio. The band made their live debut on the main stage of Slam Dunk Italy in 2025, sharing the bill with acts including LANDMVRKS, A Day To Remember, and Caskets, before later supporting Caskets in Milan. In 2026, their rapid ascent continued with an appearance at Germany’s Summer Breeze Open Air, while their growing streaming numbers underline the momentum surrounding the band.

Now, A Graceful Sin receives the physical treatment its carefully constructed visual and sonic world demands. French heavyweights RESOLVE return with their crushing new single "Godtier," offering another glimpse into their recently announced third album, Spread My Ashes Into Space, due January 15 via Arising Empire.

Following the first taste of their next chapter, "Godtier" pushes RESOLVE deeper into the ambitious world surrounding the upcoming record. Ferocious, expansive, and driven by the band’s unmistakable sense of scale, the track captures the collision of intensity, atmosphere and emotion that continues to define their evolving sound.

Speaking of the new single, vocalist Anthony Diliberto shares, "While a lot of the Spread My Ashes Into Space ideas and concepts are about wanting to step back and escape, 'Godtier' could be almost the polar opposite. It's about willingly flying straight into the fire. The lyrics are telling this story of a character steering a spaceship into a dying sun, but the core meaning of this is deeply human. It's about chasing a thrill that you know is eventually going to break you.

The Lyon quartet have always approached heavy music with a widescreen vision, combining punishing riffs, soaring melodies and immersive electronics with influences that stretch well beyond the boundaries of modern metal. Symphonic metal ensemble SEPTICFLESH have announced four North American headline tour dates. Last year, trap metal progenitors DROPOUT KINGS dropped Yokai, the final record featuring enigmatic frontman Adam Ramey following his untimely passing. After bringing together a career-spanning lineup of Kings current and past, the band took this celebration of Rameys life on the road to share with fans as everyone tried to heal from the shock. The album also marks a special reunion with GRAHAM's former Rainbow bandmate and longtime friend Roger Glover, bringing the two musicians together for the first time since Rainbow’s landmark 1979 album 'Down To Earth,' which Glover produced. His distinctive bass playing brings an additional dimension to “Wait For The Day To Break,” reconnecting two musicians whose work together helped shape a defining chapter in hard rock history.

Hard Rock/Metal Band Celebrates 10 Years With New EP Featuring Singles “The Game,” “XIII” and “All or Nothing”

Hard rock/metal band SYMETRIA are turning the page on their next chapter with the release of their new EP, All or Nothing, out now via Curtain Call Records. The three-song release features the previously released singles “The Game” and “XIII,” along with the EP’s title track, “All or Nothing.”

"The Game is really about the two games of life," explains the band. "The finite game is one you can play to win, and then it's over. The infinite game is different. It's played so that existence can continue and future generations have a game left to play. If not enough people are participating in that infinite game, everything eventually falls apart, and there are no games left to play at all."

Following the overwhelmingly positive response to “The Game,” Symetria continued building momentum with the release of “XIII,” giving fans another glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and setting the stage for the complete All or Nothing EP.

“XIII” (Thirteen) finds Symetria pushing their sound forward while maintaining the raw energy and musicianship that have defined the band throughout their journey. Recorded at SoundMine Studio in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, All or Nothing was produced and mixed by acclaimed producer Dan Malsch, whose production brings added depth, power, dynamics, and expansive sonic character to Symetria’s latest material. The result is a release that captures the band’s hard-hitting approach while showcasing their continued growth as songwriters and performers.

The release marks a significant milestone for Symetria, who are celebrating 10 years of creating music, performing live, and evolving their sound. A decade into their journey, the band is showing no signs of slowing down. Instead, Symetria are expanding their reach with an increasingly ambitious live schedule and setting their sights on bringing their music to audiences well beyond their home region.

The band will make their second consecutive appearance at B’N’R Fest on Saturday, November 7, in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania. The Reading-area music festival brings together some of the longest-running and most respected local and regional acts from across the Eastern Pennsylvania music scene, making the return appearance another milestone in Symetria’s ongoing live journey.

EVANS BLUE Release New Single "Speak" via Aphotic Records

Evans Blue has signed with Aphotic Records, marking a new chapter for the acclaimed rock band as they announce the release of their new single, “SPEAK.”The song received its radio premiere on SiriusXM Octane on October 8, 2026, introducing listeners to the next evolution of a band whose music has long given voice to the emotions people struggle to put into words.

Evans Blue has built its identity around emotionally charged rock that gives a voice to the things people struggle to say out loud. For years, the band has occupied the space where heavy, melodic rock collides with raw human emotion, building a catalog around the battles people often fight privately. Pain, anger, loss, isolation, resilience and survival aren't simply themes within Evans Blue's music. They're part of its DNA. That is where “SPEAK” ultimately finds its power.

“SPEAK” was written and performed by Evans Blue and produced by Chris Dawson and Evans Blue, with Dawson also handling the mix. The track was mastered by Mike Kaljian.

For bassist Joe Pitter, the process of creating the new music has also represented a personal reconnection with the creative force that brought Evans Blue together in the first place.

“Working on these songs has given back an appreciation for music and sharing in creativity that I didn't know I had lost. It feels like a step toward something that matters," says Joe Pitter.

This isn't about pretending the damage never happened or finding a clean ending to grief. It's about refusing to let the loss of someone else become the loss of yourself.

Burton C. Bell and The Void will head to Canada this December for a special four-show warm-up run, setting the stage for a busy 2027 and bringing Bell’s next creative chapter to Canadian audiences.

As the founding vocalist and lyricist of Fear Factory, Bell was the band’s only consistent member for more than 30 years. His unmistakable voice, lyrics and creative vision helped define a catalog that became highly influential in industrial and modern metal.
