Hard Rock/Metal Band Celebrates 10 Years With New EP Featuring Singles “The Game,” “XIII” and “All or Nothing”

Hard rock/metal band SYMETRIA are turning the page on their next chapter with the release of their new EP, All or Nothing, out now via Curtain Call Records. The three-song release features the previously released singles “The Game” and “XIII,” along with the EP’s title track, “All or Nothing.”

"The Game is really about the two games of life," explains the band. "The finite game is one you can play to win, and then it's over. The infinite game is different. It's played so that existence can continue and future generations have a game left to play. If not enough people are participating in that infinite game, everything eventually falls apart, and there are no games left to play at all."

Following the overwhelmingly positive response to “The Game,” Symetria continued building momentum with the release of “XIII,” giving fans another glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and setting the stage for the complete All or Nothing EP.

“XIII” (Thirteen) finds Symetria pushing their sound forward while maintaining the raw energy and musicianship that have defined the band throughout their journey. The track weaves together intricate melodies, driving rhythms, powerful instrumentation, and an engaging lyrical presentation, delivering a dynamic hard rock/metal experience built for both the headphones and the live stage.

"'XIII' isn't just a song, it's a celebration, a gift, a tribute if you will to all the bands and artists who paved the way for heavy music from the beginning.  We, as a band, don't do covers.  We write music.  When the idea of paying tribute or homage to our predecessors came along it was never about who's song to cover, or what band to tribute.  That's not our style.  We're artists.  We create.  So we decided to pay tribute to those who we look up to, thank them for what they did, who they are, the risks they took, and the music they created that inspired us and so many others to start out on this journey in music for ourselves by writing a song about it.  Honestly, what better way is there to truly pay tribute to a legend than to write a song about them, about the music, and maybe a little bit about what it meant to us. A song that will live forever in tribute to them just as the music they created will," shares the band.

“'All or Nothing' is a revolution song. From there make of it what you will. Take a look around yourself at the world right now, we are literally standing in the shadow of the next 'All or Nothing' moment in history, and it’s gaining on us fast. It seems like every-time you turn around anymore the world is changing the rules on you, changing the terms of the dream, changing the cost of freedom and what it actually means." 

There will be a full production video for “All or Nothing” coming later this year. 

Recorded at SoundMine Studio in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, All or Nothing was produced and mixed by acclaimed producer Dan Malsch, whose production brings added depth, power, dynamics, and expansive sonic character to Symetria’s latest material. The result is a release that captures the band’s hard-hitting approach while showcasing their continued growth as songwriters and performers.

The release marks a significant milestone for Symetria, who are celebrating 10 years of creating music, performing live, and evolving their sound. A decade into their journey, the band is showing no signs of slowing down. Instead, Symetria are expanding their reach with an increasingly ambitious live schedule and setting their sights on bringing their music to audiences well beyond their home region.

The band will make their second consecutive appearance at B’N’R Fest on Saturday, November 7, in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania. The Reading-area music festival brings together some of the longest-running and most respected local and regional acts from across the Eastern Pennsylvania music scene, making the return appearance another milestone in Symetria’s ongoing live journey.

With All or Nothing now available, Symetria are also looking toward their next major step: their first full touring campaign. The band currently has plans in the works to hit the road, with a late summer or fall 2027 tour being targeted.

Ten years in, Symetria are embracing the title of their latest release All or Nothing as they enter a new era defined by new music, bigger stages, and an ambition to take their sound further than ever before.

EVANS BLUE Release New Single "Speak" via Aphotic Records

Evans Blue has signed with Aphotic Records, marking a new chapter for the acclaimed rock band as they announce the release of their new single, “SPEAK.”The song received its radio premiere on SiriusXM Octane on October 8, 2026, introducing listeners to the next evolution of a band whose music has long given voice to the emotions people struggle to put into words.

Evans Blue has built its identity around emotionally charged rock that gives a voice to the things people struggle to say out loud. For years, the band has occupied the space where heavy, melodic rock collides with raw human emotion, building a catalog around the battles people often fight privately. Pain, anger, loss, isolation, resilience and survival aren't simply themes within Evans Blue's music. They're part of its DNA. Through songs like “Erase My Scars,” “Cold,” and “This Time It’s Different,” the band has created a lasting connection with listeners through music rooted in pain, vulnerability, honesty and perseverance.

Now, Evans Blue begins it's next chapter with “SPEAK.”

Dark, atmospheric and unflinchingly personal, “SPEAK” confronts the kind of grief that doesn't disappear with time. It changes you. The song captures the battle between everything screaming inside your head and the inability to let any of it escape, until silence itself becomes another weight to carry.

“‘SPEAK’ is about carrying loss until silence becomes its own kind of prison,” says vocalist Dan Chandler. “It’s the kind of grief that changes who you are forever. And as much as it hurt you or changed you, you won’t give up on yourself.”

That is where “SPEAK” ultimately finds its power.

“SPEAK” was written and performed by Evans Blue and produced by Chris Dawson and Evans Blue, with Dawson also handling the mix. The track was mastered by Mike Kaljian.

For bassist Joe Pitter, the process of creating the new music has also represented a personal reconnection with the creative force that brought Evans Blue together in the first place.

“Working on these songs has given back an appreciation for music and sharing in creativity that I didn't know I had lost. It feels like a step toward something that matters," says Joe Pitter.

This isn't about pretending the damage never happened or finding a clean ending to grief. It's about refusing to let the loss of someone else become the loss of yourself.

With “SPEAK,” Evans Blue isn't trying to recreate its past. The band is taking everything that built its identity, the weight, melody, vulnerability and honesty, and pushing it forward.

BURTON C. BELL AND THE VOID ANNOUNCE DECEMBER EAST CANADIAN RUN

Burton C. Bell and The Void will head to Canada this December for a special four-show warm-up run, setting the stage for a busy 2027 and bringing Bell’s next creative chapter to Canadian audiences.

As the founding vocalist and lyricist of Fear Factory, Bell was the band’s only consistent member for more than 30 years. His unmistakable voice, lyrics and creative vision helped define a catalog that became highly influential in industrial and modern metal.

Another milestone for Sweden's ORBIT CULTURE.

Not only are they gearing up for extensive touring across the UK, Europe, and North America, but they are also set to release 'Death Above Life (Deluxe Edition)', the director's cut of their cinematic and highly successful latest studio album.

The band unveils a very special collaboration with renowned cellist Tina Guo: The video for the emotional track ''The Path I Walk,'' created by their longtime creative partners Riivata Visuals.

The band shares, ''We've always been a bit uneasy about bringing someone else into our music, but Tina Guo was the exception. Ever since we saw her perform in Stockholm in 2017, we'd joked about working with her one day. When the label suggested a guest for 'The Path I Walk,' we threw her name out, fully expecting nothing to come of it. Then our A&R, Mike Gitter, simply said, 'I know her.'

"We initially worked out her parts in MIDI using her own sample library, but hearing her actual performance was something else entirely. The emotion she brought completely changed the song and took it further than we'd imagined.

"What stayed with us just as much was how kind and down to earth she was throughout the whole process. For someone with her talent and experience, there was no ego at all. We're incredibly proud to have her on this song, and grateful that an idea we'd joked about for years actually happened."

The creation of Death Above Life (Deluxe Edition)' was a heartfelt undertaking for the band: ''We’re proud to release the Deluxe Edition of Death Above Life and finally share 'Nuclear God,' 'Spiral Head,' and 'The Form Not Meant To Be.' It's always exciting to put out songs that people haven’t heard yet, and we're looking forward to seeing what everyone makes of these three.

"We also wanted the physical release to be something people could spend time with. The 40-page Artbook and Mediabook give us more room to show the artwork and bring people further into the world of the record. We put a lot into Death Above Life, both musically and visually, so it feels good to bring those parts together in this edition.

The release of Death Above Life (Deluxe Edition) also marks the beginning of another touring cycle for ORBIT CULTURE. First, they will join Amon Amarth's ''The Allfather Awakens Tour'' across Europe alongside Soilwork. Immediately afterward, they will embark on the second leg of Trivium's ''The Crown in the Grave Tour'' across the U.S. and Canada, which also features In Flames and Frozen Soul.

The band comments, ''We've got a lot of touring ahead of us, starting with Amon Amarth on their 'The Allfather Awakens' EU/UK Tour, where we'll be direct support with Soilwork on the bill as well. ANKOR To Release New Album "I See Red" on 11/20

Opening up an inimitable world for heavy music, multi-cultural alternative metal quintet ANKOR — vocalist Jessie Williams (Bristol, UK), drummer Eleni Nota (Athens, Greece), guitarists David Romeu and Fito Martinez, and bassist Julio López (Catalonia, Spain) — proudly present their new album, I SEE RED, out November 20 via UNFD. "ITACHI · blood moon" hints at the scope of ANKOR's immersive vision. Ominous guitar brings dimension to a hypnotic rhythm. Meannwhile, haunting vocal transmissions echo over a pounding beat, giving way to a corrosively catchy chorus, "Drown me in poison, I'll stay where it hurts." It concludes with a chilling invitation, "Make me your nightmare, let me haunt your sleep." The accompanying visual projects this image on screen through striking vignettes and arresting storytelling.

About their forthcoming album, Jessie Williams said, "I See Red is a journey through pain, power, sacrifice, betrayal, loss and obsession. Each song tells the story of someone who was shaped by the world around them and by the choices they made when everything they believed in began to fall apart. Some sought peace. Some sought power. Some sacrificed everything for the people they loved. Others let hatred consume what was left of them. But none of them were born monsters. The world made them. Adding another layer to the project, each song on I SEE RED evokes the lore of prominent villains in the Naruto manga and anime series.

The album will also include their 2026 single, "DANZO · lying ghost" featuring MAH of Japanese rock powerhouse SiM. Since releasing in March, the track continues to gain traction with over 498.4k Spotify streams while the music video has tallied 255.7k views. It also received plugs from Distorted Sound Magazine, That Eric Alper, and Louder who named it among "The 12 Best New Metal Songs You Need To Hear This Week," going on to rave "it's a vibrant showcase of how unique the band are." The latter praised, "Heavy guitars and modern metalcore production collide with the band’s fascination with Asian pop culture, while the song’s central character gives its aggression a clear narrative target."

In other news, ANKOR will be supporting Amaranthe on their forthcoming Nordic tour. Rolling through cities across Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Latvia, the trek kicks off on October 15 before ending on November 7. Shortly after, ANKOR will venture to Europe for a co-headline tour alongside Self Deception and Lauren Babic. The run begins on November 27 in Cologne, Germany followed by performances across France, the UK, Austria, Denmark, and more. The tour concludes on December 19 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Hillhaven Share Video for Newest Single "Out of Spite, Out of Mind" — WATCH

HILLHAVEN — Chris Kelly on vocals; Zach Moiser on drums; and guitarist Jaime GoWell — have shared the video for newest single "Out of Spite, Out of Mind." Watch it below. 

The track, is, essentially, hard rock built for radio, with a nostalgic, 2000s-born edge. "Out of Spite, Out of Mind" looks at the internal confrontation with the voice in your head that shows up when anxiety stalls your own ambition. It's a track about catching yourself mid-spiral and choosing to fight instead of freeze. Big hooks, bigger riffs, and a chorus made to be shouted back.

"On this week's episode of 'Chris' Inner Monologue,' this one really just comes from spending too many nights being annoyed at myself," explains Kelly. "All too frequently, I wind up having these internal battles where anxiety winds up stalling out all ambition, all progress, all productivity. Even as i'’s happening, it feels so stupid. Like 'why am I basically afraid of my computer right now?' I was having such a bitch of a time finding the topline that, eventually, the struggle for lyrics became the actual lyrics. Ultimately, it's become something of a mission statement to myself, and a big 'fuck you' to the parts of my brain that try to stifle me."

ZEAL & ARDOR RELEASE ''DEVIL IS FINE X CARPENTER BRUT'' VIDEO — WATCH

Zeal & Ardor release "Devil Is Fine x Carpenter Brut" via MVKA, a defining moment in the band's history reimagined with brutal precision as Carpenter Brut unleashes his trademark nightmare fuel on their most iconic anthem. It's a collision of two of extreme music's most fearless minds, pushing the song into territory it has never touched before. 

"Devil Is Fine" is the title track of Zeal & Ardor's breakthrough 2016 record, the release that first fused black metal aggression with the rhythms and history of African American spirituals and work songs, introducing Manuel Gagneux's project to a global audience. Carpenter Brut, the French producer whose synth driven, horror-soaked sound has become a genre unto itself, has now taken the track apart and rebuilt it.

Gagneux says, "Imagine if one of the most capable electronic musicians out there remixed a song of ours. Imagine if that would result in a track that might eclipse the original. Imagine if you could listen to such a thing right now. We give you 'Devil Is Fine x Carpenter Brut.'"

Carpenter Brut adds, "Zeal & Ardor have such a distinctive sound so it was a real pleasure to take 'Devil Is Fine' into my own world while keeping the spirit of the original."

Ryan offered this about "The Hatman": "The song introduces the darker force at the center of the world we’ve been building. He represents the darkness that exists alongside the light the part of yourself you can try to bury or contain, but eventually have to face. The more you try to run from him, the more powerful he becomes."

The same can be said for the song itself. It's one of the heaviest tracks in Minute After Midnight's repertoire thus far. It goes for the jugular from the opening notes and isn't afraid to pummel with breakdowns or super melodic choruses, for that matter (of time).

When the clock strikes twelve, one day gives way to the next. The slate wipes clean, life restarts, and another chapter commences. Minute After Midnight sounds like a new beginning born from the high-speed collision of bright pop-punk, heartfelt emo, intense metalcore, and expertly executed alternative rock steeped in the lore of an evocative mythos. The Tennessee-born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer acts as a conductor both sonically and aesthetically, conceiving a larger-than-life vision and ushering it into existence. After quietly amassing tens of millions of streams and building buzz, he makes the most of the moment on his full-length debut LP, Matter of Time 

"Everything stems from the concept of time," says Ryan. "When you think about it, music itself is keeping time. The name—Minute After Midnight—is a reference to time. The title A Matter of Time was also fitting for the album. I always believed it was only a matter of time until this happened. I've got my chance to start now."

Derrick grew up between Bristol and Knoxville. Following college, he found his way to Nashville where he planted down roots. Pursuing a life in music, he honed his talents in genres as diverse as pop, country, electronic, and house, grinding to be heard non-stop, cultivating his voice with various features, and sharpening his songwriting skills alone. He introduced Minute After Midnight with independent tracks and received substantial activity on TikTok and airplay from SiriusXM Octane.

Anything went in the Matter of Time writing sessions as he channeled inspiration from the likes of My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, All time Low, and Bring Me The Horizon. Ryan share, "I was nostalgic for the bands I would see at Warped Tour back in the day. I was trying to embrace that headspace for the record."

Ultimately, the album is designed to uplift and inspire hope. Because what else is there?

"When you listen to this, I hope you realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel," states Ryan. "Even in the darkest of dark, you can always keep moving forward. If you have dreams, it's only a matter of time until you accomplish them."

Heavy Rock Collective THE DEVIL'S BLIND HORSE Release New Single, "Sister"

Back with another tribute offering to the Heavy Rock and Roll Gods, THE DEVIL'S BLIND HORSE, spearheaded by Alex Knoll, returns with their much anticipated second single "Sister." Available on October 7, on all major streaming platforms, "Sister" is accompanied by a new lyric video release. Watch Below. 

Surprises are abound with TDBH’s signature fusion of psychedelic hard rock and metal. From the ABBA-inspired strings in the bridge to the blast beat passage during the outro chorus; soulful melody is intertwined with punch, cyclic riffs are intertwined with textures and depth.

The Knoll/Lynne core duo is once again supported by an all-star lineup comprised of Johan Niemann and Rikard Zander (Evergrey) on bass and keyboards respectively, whereas drum duties are handled by Emily Dolan Davies (The Darkness) on this ride. It was a night celebrating Texas roots, country music tradition and the enduring spirit of the American cowgirl as acclaimed singer-songwriter Jenna Paulette took the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville on Wednesday evening, October 7, as part of a celebration of Texas country music.

For Paulette, the evening carried an additional milestone. KAITLIN BUTTS ENLISTS HONKY TONKS AROUND THE GLOBE TO REVEAL THE TRACK LISTING FOR HELLO, HONKY TONK

There’s no better place to reveal a record called Hello, Honky Tonk than a honky tonk. This week, Tulsa-born singer/songwriter Kaitlin Butts enlisted honky tonks around the globe to unveil the track listing for her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Hello, Honky Tonk, out October 30 via Republic Records. Beginning Monday this week, a different honky tonk or legendary music venue unveiled a new song from the album each day, turning the track-listing announcement into an international bar crawl through the world Butts created for Hello, Honky Tonk. From Nashville and Tulsa to Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Sydney and London, the daily reveals have brought the album’s complete 14-song track listing into that neon light.

The venues participating in the weeklong reveal include some of the most iconic honky tonks and live music rooms in the country and abroad, including Billy Bob’s Texas, Cain’s Ballroom, the Grand Ole Opry, Luckenbach Texas, John T. The track listing reveal follows a string of new music from Hello, Honky Tonk, including “What More Could You Want,” which Country Central says, “two-steps towards something that feels built for props and blocking in a musical” along with tracks “I Wanna Be Bad” and “Never Really Mine.” The recently released “What More Could You Want” is a languid, Broadway-ready piano ballad and autobiographical sketch of a performer questioning how much more she has to give.

“That song feels exactly word for word what I feel like every day,” says Butts. “This tug and pull of loving this and craving this and loving to be on stage, loving every creative moment but also being stressed out wondering, ‘Do you like me? Do I need to be shinier? Do you want more?’”

Named one of Rolling Stone’s most anticipated albums for 2026, Hello, Honky Tonk is a love letter to the honky tonks and nightlife that have shaped Butts while becoming a huge part of her life on the road. Recorded in Nashville with producer Tofer Brown (Carter Faith, Willow Avalon, Little Big Town), the album brings to life a bar like no other, populated by a cast of characters listeners might recognize from the dance floor, behind the bar or from the corner booth.

Inspired in part by the vaudeville vignettes of Chicago and Disney World’s Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Butts envisioned Hello, Honky Tonk as a place where all of these characters could coexist.

“The thought behind the concept was how in Chicago, the character Roxie Hart is dreaming up what her show would look like and all the people in it,” says Butts. “I picture all of this happening at Skinny Dennis here in Nashville. These are all the different people in the room. There's the bar fight that's happening. There's the bad girl that just got off work. There's me being the entertainer. There are so many people that really love the nightlife. It’s a connector for people.”

The album continues the momentum of Butts’ critically acclaimed Roadrunner! in 2024, a bold reimagining inspired by Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! that landed on numerous year-end best-of lists and featured her viral anthem “You Ain’t Gotta Die (To Be Dead To Me),” which has amassed more than 157 million TikTok views and 67 million global streams.

Butts will celebrate the release of Hello, Honky Tonk with her Hello, Honky Tonk Live and In Person Tour, kicking off October 29 at Nashville’s Skinny Dennis before continuing with stops across Texas and Oklahoma in December. LAINEY WILSON’S NEW SONG “KINDA LOVE IT”

Darkwave-shoegaze pioneers Lowsunday revisit ‘Call Silence’ with 2 distinct electronic music visionaries

Pittsburgh-based darkwave-shoegaze pioneers Lowsunday present 'Call Silence Remixed', a 2-track released via Projekt Records, involving two artists with deep histories in the dark-music world, each of them finding their own unique way to re-envision the same song. Taking the original 'Call Silence' in radically different directions, together, they create a striking conversation between post-punk, EBM, industrial, darkwave, drone and ethereal music. 

The 'Silent Tribe Remix' by Psychotribe (aka Peter Guellard from DEATĦ B¥ LØVE) pushes the song into EBM and electronic territory, transforming its post-punk tension into something darker, more mechanical and hypnotic. The 'Call Silence' Remix by Sam Rosenthal (founder of Projekt Records and the creative force behind Black Tape For A Blue Girl), uses stark drones, spacious electronic layers and distant vocals to uncover a more vulnerable, emotional and atmospheric side.

Formed in 1994 as Low Sunday Ghost Machine, they emerged as a "retro-futurist" pioneer, blending darkwave and shoegaze long before the genres saw their modern revival. Their legacy was cemented with extended re-releases of their 1996 debut album 'Low Sunday Ghost Machine' and 1999 masterpiece 'Elesgiem' (for their 30th and 25th anniversaries). Having played an integral role in Lowsunday’s history over the years, Rosenthal served as an important catalyst in their return to music in 2025 after a nearly 25-year hiatus, now a duo made up of original member Shane Sahene (vocals, guitar, synth, bass, drums) and Bobby Spell (bass, guitar, drums). 

Their recently-released 'Low Sunday Ghost Machine - Black EP' and preceding ‘White EP' (ranked second in Post-Punk.com's Best EPs of 2025) presents the band's first new material released since 1999. Both a reflection and a resurgence, these Lowsunday releases usher in a welcome return, marked by superb production and a renewed creative clarity, bridging three decades of distinct sonic legacy with balanced doses of escapism, dreamlike sounds, drones and feedback.

Lowsunday also present a stunning noir video for 'Call Silence - Silent Tribe Remix by Psychotribe', starring Shane Sahene and Sereny Welsby. Capturing tension between partners, perfectly set amidst brutalist backdrops like the University of Pittsburgh’s Posvar Hall, this video was filmed, produced and directed by Peter Guellard.  Enormous concrete surfaces, repeating geometric patterns, tunnels, corridors, and overwhelming architectural scale provided exactly the intended atmosphere.

"Peter Guellard is an incredibly driven and talented musician and producer. He takes this somewhere completely outside of anything we would've done and his video offers an entirely different experience. What began as a Hitchcock type drama, full of possible endings and unanswered questions, became something deeper—a beautifully constructed mystery. He has captured its coldness, its darkness, its depth, and its contrasts with awesome precision. The imagery has the power of a still ocean: seemingly calm on the surface, yet immense, mysterious, and full of worlds beneath it," says Shane Sahene.

"Sam Rosenthal’s remix captured a vulnerability we seldom show, bringing a completely different vision. The stark, droning layers and almost percussive reverbs create a palpable mood. He managed to uncover and amplify the emotional sentiment within the song, while making it feel entirely new. It’s been an honor to have our song reimagined by two people we have so much respect and appreciation for."

Bobby Spell adds, "Peter’s visual interpretation is as stark as that particular architecture and surroundings, visually creating a feeling of insignificance and loneliness. The feeling of isolation it creates is palpable and Sereny’s and Shane's characters compound that feeling with their apparent detachment. Peter had a clear vision of exactly what he wanted to do with it".

As of October 9, 'Call Silence Remixed' is out everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. Lowsunday's two limited edition vinyl EPs and their expanded anniversary reissue albums are also available via Projekt Records' store. Further, Lowsunday's 'She Follows Rain' was also recently released as part of Cherry Red Records' 4-CD boxset 'We Are The Beautiful'.

Lowsunday perform next at Pittsburgh's Brillobox on Friday, October 9. Presented by Play Alone Records, they join Choir Boy., along with Crash Davidian and DJ Krass Advert.

ATAVISTIA Release Deluxe Edition Of 'Old Gods Awaken' Alongside Focus Track, "Beneath The Elder Stone"

ATAVISTIA delves further into folk-inspired realms with the release of the deluxe edition of Old Gods Awaken via Blood Blast Distribution. The melodic death metal force is currently on tour around Canada, supported by TROLLWAR on their remaining dates. 

Founder Mattias Sippola comments on "Beneath The Elder Stone":

"'Beneath The Elder Stone' was originally going to be on the main release of Old Gods Awaken but unfortunately didn’t make the cut at the time. This track was written back in 2022 and went through drastic changes. Almost 100% rewritten. 

However, it’s a blessing in disguise that we waited to release it on the Deluxe Edition because it sounds unrecognizably better than it did during the Old Gods Awaken release cycle."

On the release of the Deluxe Edition, Sippola adds: "Releases like this Deluxe Edition will become more common with our future albums, etc. We currently have 5 albums worth of upcoming music written + bonus material."

ATAVISTIA — CANADIAN TOUR 2026

Bringing Old Gods Awaken to the live stage, ATAVISTIA's Canadian tour begins on home soil at Vancouver’s Wise Hall on September 25, where ATAVISTIA will join Finnish folk metal veterans ENSIFERUM and Greek power metal heavyweights FIREWIND. From there, ATAVISTIA will head east through British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

BC technical melodic death metal outfit OMNIESIA will accompany ATAVISTIA for shows in Kamloops, Calgary and Edmonton, while Quebec folk/melodic death metal band TROLLWAR joins the tour beginning October 3 in Sarnia and remains on the bill through the October 11 finale in Montreal.

IMPUREZA Release Bass Playthrough for “Covadonga”

IMPUREZA, the Franco-Spanish pioneers of Hispanic Metal, release a bass playthrough of “Covadonga” today via the Season of Mist YouTube channel. Taken from their third album Alcázares, the video places Florian Saillard’s fretless bass in the foreground of the song that recounts where the Reconquista began.

“Covadonga” runs 4:02 and tells of the battle in Asturias whose Astur victory is held to have started the Reconquista. Sung in Spanish, the lyrics climb the sacred mountain with the prophetic king Don Pelayo, set lancers and archers against the Muslim forces, and watch the arrows hide the sun, with the title itself spelled out syllable by syllable as a refrain: CO-VA-DON-GA. The song also carries the legend of the battle, in which the attackers’ arrows turned back on them and rocks broke loose from the mountain to bury them. The fretless bass, one of the band’s signature voices, sits here beside flamenco guitar and orchestral arrangement.

“Alcázares”, released on July 11th, 2025, via Season of Mist, is a concept album on the Reconquista, the medieval conflict that ran from 722 to 1492. It moves from Covadonga through the legend of El Cid, Templar mysticism, the Inquisition under Torquemada and tales of black magic. The album was recorded and mixed by Sébastien Camhi at Studio Artmusic and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios.

MPUREZA is a Franco-Spanish metal band formed in 2004 by guitarist Lionel Cano Muñoz from Orléans. Their music is distinguished by a unique fusion of extreme metal and Spanish sounds inspired by Andalusian culture and flamenco, creating an atypical style known as Hispanic Metal. IMPUREZAremains an innovative project in the international metal scene, making it a pioneer of the genre.

Concept:

The entire concept of the band revolves around the voluptuousness of Latin atmospheres, the ferocity of metal, and Spanish culture and history, explored through a fictional and esoteric aspect. Their compositions feature both clean and guttural vocals sung in the language of Cervantes, flamenco guitar, acoustic fretless bass, extreme metal, and orchestral arrangements that evoke the colors of Spain. The very essence of their music lies in the duality between two seemingly opposed musical genres, which, through clever composition, give birth to a new and avant-garde style. Their fiery music is literally the union of traditional Hispanic folklore and extreme metal. These metal warriors brandish their Iberian sounds as weapons with pride. This ingenious alliance is matched only by the singular and unprecedented creative originality of its founder Lionel Cano Muñoz and his compañero Esteban Martín, both of Spanish nationality. IMPUREZA’s conquistadors draw inspiration from their strong identity, which defines the band’s very essence. Often nicknamed the “French Nile” due to their primary influences, combining the complex and brutal lines of death metal with the most ardent and undulating Latin flames. IMPUREZA‘s members are also influenced by many Spanish artists such as flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía and gypsy singer Camarón de la Isla, as well as bands like Behemoth, Morbid Angel, Krisiun, and Fleshgod Apocalypse, among others.

Judas Priest announce Ian Hill’s retirement

It is with heavy hearts that we are sending out this personal message from our Ian....he has been the backbone of Judas Priest for so long and will be greatly missed by us all....we wish him well in his retirement and welcome Davey into the Priest Family....

Hello everyone, for a long time now, when asked “how long can you continue” -  I’ve always answered  “until my performances suffer”.....
I hate to say it, but that time has come. 

For some years now, I’ve been struggling with the onset of the evil arthritis,  which is now in an advanced state in my left shoulder and right hand, established in my right shoulder, and present in both knees. I’ve been fighting this with painkilling pills, gels, and recently with cortisone injections in my shoulder and hand. 

Although, I was able to put bass lines to the songs for the new album, there were questions whether I’d be able to complete the recent European tour without incident, so we asked our good friend Davey Rimmer from Uriah Heep, and of course Elegant Weapons, to learn the set list to stand in for me if I had to pull out, which I did for the London show. This was due to me snapping a tendon in my left shoulder (as if I didn’t have enough problems with it!) just before the encores during the Brussels show two days before. This led to me not being able to lift my arm enough to reach the neck of my bass. So we had to call Davey to stand in for me, who put in an incredible performance at such short notice!  

I’ve seen specialists, who suggest  I might get away without surgery, but even if I don't there’s no guarantee either way that I’ll have enough strength in my shoulder/arm to complete a whole stage show. 

In view of all this, and the fact that I’ve neglected my family life for fifty seven years, I’ve decided to retire and spend the remaining years making up for it, and doing things with them before it involves one of ‘em pushing me around in a wheelchair. 

The obvious choice for my replacement is Davey.  He’s a great bassist, and a genuinely nice bloke who’ll fit the job perfectly, and I wish him the very best of luck!  

There’s not a day goes by where I don’t give thanks for the incredible journey I’ve lived through, and it just remains for me to say that I love you all, and thank you for the life you’ve let me live.
