LA pop purveyors NoVanGogh release Motown-inspired single 'As Long as You’re Here'

Los Angeles-based indie pop outfit NoVanGogh presents their new single 'As Long as You’re Here', following their heartfelt and hopeful pop anthem 'You're Right There',along with their Van Gogh-inspired video. Capturing the overwhelming joy of a profound connection with another person, this song pulses with an irresistible energy, its vibrant energy creating a palpable charge.

NoVanGogh was conceived by songwriter-producers Douglas Sparks and Christopher Hastings as a way to release pop-infused music that straddles diverse styles of music, utilizing the finest musical talent that LA has to offer. Creators of sublime pop, NoVanGogh’s sound is highlighted by a continuous morphing of styles and genres producing sounds worthy of your attention. Their artistry shines through in a tapestry of genres, making for a listening experience that rewards your attention.

"Our latest single 'As Long as You’re Here' is about finding a connection with someone that is so exciting and fulfilling that you can’t possibly contain yourself.  When we produced the track, we went for a Motown inspired sound with a bit of Gospel thrown in for good measure.  The violins were recording live the studio.  And the parts played by the violins were mostly improvised," says Douglas Sparks.

Produced, recorded and mixed in L.A. by Douglas Sparks and Christopher Hastings, this single involves Ginny Luke (vocals), Mike Arrom (keyboard), Eliza James (violin), Abby Shelton (violin), Leland Skylar (bass) and Christopher Hastings (guitar, drums).

NoVanGogh's previous single 'You're Right There' captures the essence of a relationship built on steadfast support, trust and comfort, its lyrics a testament to the transformative power of genuine connection. Exploring the feeling of finding solace and strength in another person, and the relief that comes with knowing you're never truly alone, here NoVanGogh celebrates the freedom and joy found in a love that liberates, ultimately conveying a powerful message of hope and emotional security.

As of March 17, 'As Long as You're Here' is available everywhere digitally, including SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, where 'You're Right There' can also be found.

Gridiron Announce "Poetry From Pain" Album Out 5/30 + Share "Mascot" Video

GRIDIRON — Matthew Karll, vocals; Will Kaelin, guitar and vocals; Xavier Wilson, guitar; Lennon Livesay, bass; and Tyler Mullen, drums — are pleased to announce their new album Poetry From Pain.

The album arrives May 30 via Blue Grape Music. It will be available on vinyl in several exclusive colorways. Pre-order it here

To kick things off, the band, who has been tipped by Stereogum for their "incendiary mosh riffs," has shared an absolutely baller video for the new single "Mascot."

Watch the band cruise the mean streets of L.A. in a Rolls Royce in the Dan Centrone-directed video below.

"'Mascot' is about people who say they are going to do things and don't follow through with them, no matter what it is," says Karll.

Gridiron, which originally formed as a pandemic project and have since grown into a full-fledged entity, features members of Never Ending Game, Simulakra, and Scarab, and connects the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Michigan areas.

Pushing every boundary to a breaking point, Gridiron will go to any extreme and then some. They follow quite possibly the most unpredictable playbook in the game. The band might flood the zone with a corpsepaint-smearing death metal barrage only to double back around for a victory lap narrated by blinged-out and braggadocios bars. Their hybridization of metal, hardcore, and hip-hop wouldn’t be out of place at either OZZfest 1997 or Rolling Loud 2027.

It's why the quintet have bulldozed their own path as a phenomenon with millions of streams and acclaim from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, NO ECHO, and more.

Gridiron were born out of a series of COVID-era marathon Call of Duty sessions, which led to writing and recording together. Their musical pedigree spoke for itself with Will also in Never Ending Game, Xavier in Simulakra, and Tyler and Lennon in Scarab. Given their individual experiences, the guys instantly locked into a creative groove. Following the Loyalty At All Costs EP [2020] and Worldwide Brotherhood EP [2021], they dropped their first full-length, No Good At Goodbyes [2022]. Along the way, they also shared stages with everyone from Missing Link to Trapped Under Ice and have plenty of upcoming touring planned for 2025.

And now, Poetry From Pain is here and it slays.

Gridiron have a bunch of live shows on deck. All upcoming confirmed dates are below.

ABOUT BLUE GRAPE MUSIC:
In 2022, industry veterans David Rath and Cees Wessels formed Blue Grape Music. The name will be familiar to rock music fans, as it was the merchandise company also launched by Wessels, who founded the venerable and esteemed record label Roadrunner Records in the '80s. Roadrunner earned a reputation as an iconic label that turned hard rock and metal acts into household names for several decades under Wessels' tutelage. Rath spent 21 years in the A&R department at Roadrunner, working on albums by a variety of RIAA-certified and culturally important acts, including but not limited to SlipknotKornTurnstileGojiraCoheed and CambriaWhite ReaperSlashTriviumDream Theater, and more. When the label changed management and ownership, Rath guided the company and oversaw the signings of bands like Young the Giant and Vance Joy. Ultimately, the Blue Grape executive team is powered by experience and a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-your-hands-dirty, by-any-means-necessary work ethic. Blue Grape's inaugural signing was the two-time Grammy nominee Code Orange and since then, the label has gone on to sign San Francisco punks Spiritual Cramp, hardcore heavyweights GEL, and Baltimore sludge slingers GASKET, with several new signing announcements expected to be announced this year. Blue Grape is distributed globally by The Orchard.

Celtic Rockers 1916 Release New Single "The Mollies" via TLG|ROCK

Celtic rock band 1916 has just unleashed their new single, “The Mollies,” available now via TLG | ROCK, distributed by Virgin Music Group. The track marks the first taste of the band’s forthcoming album. Produced by the acclaimed Ted Hutt, “The Mollies” comes to life with an infectious energy reminiscent of the early days of Celtic punk.

Frontman Billy Herring shares, "This new song is not only super catchy, but it's super personal as well. Basically it's a story told to me by my grandfather when I was young. So there's this family connection that makes songs like these so great to listen to on a very basic level. Our producer Ted loved this song right from the jump and we are all stoked that this is going to be our first single!"

"Reminding me of the spirit of early days of Flogging Molly, it was a total blast working with Billy and the gang at the magical Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso, TX.  Irish whiskey, history lessons, stories, and vintage guitars were the backdrop for the sessions that became the new 1916 album.  There was a first for me too, which was the challenge of recording a massive Celtic war pipe," says Ted Hutt, the band's Producer.

“The Mollies” is available now on all major streaming platforms.

About 1916:

Hailing from upstate NY, Celtic rockers 1916 are an explosive concoction of the modern Irish Punk movement with an original mix of psychobilly which gives 1916 a sound that stands apart from other bands of the genre.

Starting as an acoustic duo in 2006, singer Billy Herring and original drummer Steve LaDue played the traditional Irish ballads of the Dubliners and Wolfe Tones in the local pubs in and around their home-town of Rochester, NY.  They decided to call themselves 1916 to get people interested in Irish history.  In 2010 they took the music to a new level with the addition of electric guitars, traditional instruments, and a full drum set.  Within a few months of trying their new sound, 1916 were opening for the likes of the Dropkick Murphys, 21 Pilots, and New Politics, among other national acts.

On St. Patrick’s Day of 2012, 1916 released their first studio album, A Drop of the Pure, to rave reviews.  That same year, 1916 became the first band from Rochester, NY to get their own Pandora station with the addition of their music to the Pandora genome project.  With their music now reaching a global audience, the boys would soon gain fans all over the world.

The following year, 1916 released their sophomore album, Stand Up & Fight.  This new album, featuring a collection of covers and originals, had a more polished sound than the raw punk feel of  A Drop of the Pure.  This new full length album also featured more traditional Irish instruments to give the new LP a fun and full sound.

As the band continued to evolve, they kept touring and playing as many shows as possible.  With bigger audiences came a larger fan base for 1916 to interact with.  The band has always enjoyed hanging out with the crowd both pre- and post- shows.

In November of 2014, the guys went back into the studio to begin recording their third album, Last Call for Heroes.  Released in December of 2015, Last Call for Heroes was met with great enthusiasm from critics.  Named one of the “best punk albums of 2016,” both home and abroad, the new album appeared to have given the band the momentum they needed to move forward.

Mandolin player Jon Kane joined the band in early 2016, just before the boys hit the road to join Flogging Molly on their Salty Dog Cruise.  After a whirlwind spring of touring through the Bahamas and Europe, Jon was just what the band needed as he brought his energetic and fun stage persona into the fold.

The sound had certainly become streamlined and unique, but it wasn’t until 2017 that upright bassist Ryan Hurley would join 1916 to give the band the final integral piece that gives the music its psychobilly flavor. Soon after Ryan joined the band, 1916 further expanded their sound by the addition of accordion player Sam Sarratori to the crew!

Then…Covid hit in 2020. The band had just settled into a groove where they were poised for a northeastern US tour alongside a new live album. All that had to be put on hold indefinitely until further notice. After a year on hold, Billy knew something needed to be done to get momentum going again for his band. With that in mind, he packed up and moved to Nashville TN in order to give the music of 1916 more visibility. It was around this time the band welcomed the thundering drums of Chad Paetznick to take over behind the kit.

1916 has since been picked up by TLG|ROCK for a distribution deal for not only their fifth full length studio album Revolutions, but for their sixth LP, titled Conscience of Kings. This new record is being produced by Grammy Award winning musician & producer Ted Hutt at the legendary Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso Texas.

1916 is:
Billy Herring - Lead Vocals/Guitar/Banjo

Ryan Hurley - Upright Bass/Back-Up Vocals

Chad Paetznick - Drums

Sam Sarratori - Accordion/ Sunday Sauce

CRADLE OF FILTH Drop Devilish Third Single "White Hellebore" + New Music Video

Following their acclaimed recent single, "To Live Deliciously," and its exquisitely twisted music video, GRAMMY Award-nominated extreme metal institution CRADLE OF FILTH are back to give fans more of the sinful sounds they crave with "White Hellebore," another bewitching new single and music video.

Featured on the band's highly-anticipated upcoming 14th studio album, The Screaming Of The Valkyries (March 21, 2025 via Napalm Records), "White Hellebore" is devilishly direct, juxtaposing traditional heavy metal with blasts of thrashing fury, then spinning back to operatic goth while remaining cohesive. The track's must-see new music video was directed by Shaun Hodson.

CRADLE OF FILTH mastermind Dani Filth says about the song and video:

"The wintertime flower of the title reminds us scintillatingly of our own mortality, flourishing in seasons of dying light and cold, frozen earth.

Blossoming in the shadows, this Hellebore’s flowers draw us deeply into the stygian darkness with her.

In context of this song, the White Hellebore of the title is an alluring woman not too distant in danger from the predatory black widow, fostering both hope and despair.

A poison and an elixir, she is stunning to behold but ever deadly to taste.

This video — reeking of Lovecraftian gothic horror — presents the White Hellebore as a movie starlet who survives the grave through her dalliances with dark occult forces, a necromantic mystic tryst that an overzealous morgue attendant encounters with terrifying results, complimenting the song's unholy matrimony of melody and mayhem."

Watch the Music Video for "White Hellebore"  Below:

Following the release of 2021's Existence Is Futile (#20 Billboard 200 with Hard Rock Genre), CRADLE OF FILTH emerge again with a legacy-cementing opus. On The Screaming Of The Valkyries, Dani Filth's recognizable scream and equally identifiable growl stand mightily alongside twin guitar attacks, symphonic flourishes and explosive rhythm section, implemented by drummer Martin "Marthus" Skaroupka, bassist Daniel Firth, guitarists Marek "Ashok" Smerda and Donny Burbage, and keyboardist/vocalist Zoe Federoff.

Menacing album opener "To Live Deliciously" hits immediately, second track "Demagoguery" blends dark beauty, blast beats and slaytanic groove as only Cradle can combine. Across the album's blunt and unforgiving yet inviting expanse, Cradle summons the succulent flavors of classic albums like Dusk And Her Embrace and Cruelty And The Beast with the galloping (but no less fierce) thunder of recent entries Hammer Of The Witches and Existence Is Futile. Flashes of early metal influences coalesce with carnivorous glee into unapologetic death 'n' roll. "White Hellebore" is CRADLE OF FILTH at its most devilishly straightforward, juxtaposing traditional heavy metal with blasts of thrashing fury, spinning back to operatic goth without sounding disjointed. Anchored by arguably the most mournful melody in their catalog, "Non Omnis Moriar" ("I shall not wholly die") could be a cousin to Paradise Lost or Anathema, inverted through Cradle's thorny prism. "You Are My Nautilus" is the darkest song Iron Maiden never wrote, spinning an epic tale with dueling guitars, while "Ex Sanguine Draculae" conjures Dusk-era atmosphere with imaginative new colors.

Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk, England, The Screaming of the Valkyries beckons the brave into a new era of CRADLE OF FILTH misadventure, celebrating massive melancholic melody, blackened thrash, and apocalyptic existential dread with a grinning smattering of unbridled revelry. The Screaming of the Valkyries is a bloody dark love letter to the longtime legion of CRADLE OF FILTH faithful and a stunning entryway for fresh lambs to the sonic slaughter.

Melodic Rockers GIANT Return With New Album ‘Stand And Deliver’ Out May 16th via Frontiers Music Srl

Melodic rockers GIANT are excited to announce the upcoming release of their new album ‘Stand And Deliver’, out on May 16th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. To coincide with the announcement, the band shares the first single, “Hold The Night,” with an accompanying lyric video, available to view below.

Drummer and founder David Huff expressed his excitement for the new album:

“Making GIANT records has always been our passion! Thanks to everyone at Frontiers; we can make our dreams happen. I know it’s a bit of a different lineup, but whoever is in the lineup, the legacy of GIANT lives on”.

Watch the Lyric Video for “Hold The Night" Below:

GIANT return with a powerful new chapter in their storied career, featuring a fresh lineup that propels the band's signature sound to exhilarating new heights.

The forthcoming album entitled 'Stand And Deliver' showcases once again the talents of David Huff on drums, Mike Brignardello on bass, Kent Hilli (of Perfect Plan) as the commanding lead vocalist, with the addition of Jimmy Westerlund (One Desire) on guitars. Westerlund also takes on mixing duties alongside Alessandro Del Vecchio, who adds his touch on keyboards as a featured guest.

As if this dynamic combination of talent was not enough, the album also includes some gems penned by the original guitarist and singer Dann Huff including “Time To Call It Love” (a collaboration with the late Mark Spiro), “Holdin’ On For Dear Life” and “Paradise Found”, coming both from his sessions with Van Stephenson, which strongly link the new album with the sound of the classic album 'Time To Burn'.

However, with this new album, GIANT deliver the hard-hitting rock and melodic hooks that fans have come to expect, while pushing the boundaries of the genre with a state-of-the-art production.

Pre-Order 'Stand And Deliver' HERE

Originally formed in the late '80s by brothers Dann and David Huff, together with the experienced jazz and rock keyboardist Alan Pasqua and Nashville session bass player Mike Brignardello, GIANT would soon become one of the most respected bands of the melodic hard rock scene, with the release of their debut album 'Last Of The Runaways' (A&M Records, 1989).

Following countless live performances in support of their debut, the band released the follow-up 'Time To Burn' (Epic, 1991), an album still regarded as a main source of influence for many melodic and hard rock bands who came after. With the sudden change of musical climate in the early '90s, GIANT disbanded with their members becoming involved in different projects, with both Dann and David Huff becoming well respected producers.

In 2001, Frontiers prompted GIANT to release 'III', an album that would prove to be a landmark in the growth of the new era Melodic Rock scene, particularly in Europe. Unfortunately, Dann's busy schedule along with the other members' commitments made the reunion impossible to carry on as had originally been planned; however, the vision of bringing GIANT back as a band with a recording and touring line-up was something that the band was still open to exploring, even if Dann had to step away.

Thus, original members, drummer David Huff and bassist Mike Brignardello, with the blessing of Dann started endless research for the right musicians that could be part of a renewed GIANT line-up. In the end, the choice fell on vocalist Terry Brock (ex-Strangeways) and guitarist John Roth (Winger, Starship).

The resulting album, 'Promise Land' soon became a fan favorite, showcasing top quality songwriting and performances. GIANT, however, went into hibernation again, with the exception of a one-off show in 2017, where the original band members reunited on a Nashville club stage for a charity event.

That event piqued fan interest and Frontiers and David Huff started talking again to see if they could manage to find the right formula for a new album from GIANT. When the Swedish bandPerfect Plan released a cover version of the GIANT’s original hit “Stay” in 2019, all the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place.

Huff and Brignardello were keen on the idea of Kent handling lead vocals for the next GIANTrelease. Dann Huff gave his seal of approval, appearing on lead guitar on the single “Never Die Young”, which anticipated the successful release in 2022 of the 'Shifting Time' album.

GIANT are:

Kent Hilli - Lead Vocals

Jimmy Westerlund - Lead Guitar

Mike Brignardello - Bass

David Huff - Drums

It’s an honor to be joining the Nuclear Blast roster, alongside some of my all time favorite bands/artists. Disembodied Tyrant has only ever been supported by myself internally, and to now have an entire team behind us is a dream come true, I’m very eager for what the future holds!

Nuclear Blast America’s label manager and head of A&R, Tommy Jones adds:

I’ve never signed an artist that never played a show live, until Disembodied Tyrant. I just felt so solid on their music and their team, that I rolled the dice. I saw the band’s 8th show ever at New England Metal and Hardcore Fest while they were supporting Fleshgod Apocalypse. After the performance, I hugged Blake and said in his ear ‘thank you for confirming my decision’.

The world is not ready for the insanity of Disembodied Tyrant, but you don’t have a choice. It’s about to get disgusting.”

Along with the signing announcement, comes the brand new single ‘8.6 BLACKOUT’; an unrelenting track of raging chaos.

Mullens says of the song:

This song was one of those rarities where the vision stayed consistent throughout the entire process, it became exactly what I imaged it would from day one. This is a huge pivot thematically from the previous material, coupled with the video I think it’s quite the statement.

Pop-Punk Up 'N' Comers Indecent Behavior Provoke Thought With Video for New Single "Shoot"

After performing at Rock am RingRock im Park, and shows with Neck Deep and Zebrahead, pop punk rising stars INDECENT BEHAVIOR have released the video for "Shoot," a thought-provoking new single.

"Shoot" is a song about the brutal reality of violence — about spilled blood, lost lives, and about people who disappear before they even understand why they are fighting. It's a song full of energy, anger, and despair. It's a song that asks the questions that everyone should ask themselves: For what? Why? And when will it finally end?

"We are confronted with war every day," says singer Henrik Bergmann. "We hear stories of heroes and victors, glory, and honor. But are there any winners in war? While bombs and gunfire fall, people lose everything — their homes, their families, their memories. Nothing but destruction is left behind, while hopes sink into the dust. And all because people find themselves on opposite sides — not by their own choice, but simply because they were born in a different place."

Rising Prog Metal Band Múr Wins Icelandic Grammy for "Newcomer of the Year"

With their debut, experimental prog metal band Múr has erupted from the underground and quickly proven themselves to be a reckoning force. The rising act released its first ever studio album in November 2024 via Century Media Records, which was accoladed by international metal media. Now, the band is proud to announce that they have been awarded the Icelandic Music Award (Iceland's equivalent to the Grammys) for 'Newcomer of the Year!' In addition, they had been nominated in two other categories - 'Best Rock Album of the Year' and 'Best Video of the Year' for "Heimsslit." The nominated music video can be seen below.

Múr also had the distinguished honor of performing during the nationally televised awards ceremony, which took place live last night, March 12. The band's acceptance of the "Newcomer of the Year" award and performance of the song "Kviksyndi" can be streamed at the 00:20:31 mark at THIS LOCATION.

The emerging quintet are forging a new era of dark, atmospheric and boundary shattering metal. With progressive sensibilities that harken to the Devin Townsend Project and mid-era Opeth, a talent to cohesively juxtapose atmospheric textures with polished technicality a la Meshuggah and Gojira, and a focus on jazz study among the fresh-faced instrumentalists, Múr is already proving itself to be a reckoning force.

Múr’s trajectory really gained momentum a year after their formation when their talent was recognized in the spring of 2022 as they conquered the Icelandic Wacken Metal Battle, propelling them to an impressive fourth place in the international finale at Wacken Open Air in Germany.

The band's self-titled debut can be streamed, ordered, and downloaded HERE.

With a sound that defies generic labels and a vision that stretches the limits of creativity, Múr are the latest descendents from Iceland’s volcanic underground. The emerging quintet are forging a new era of dark, atmospheric and boundary shattering metal. With progressive sensibilities that harken to the Devin Townsend Project and mid-era Opeth, a talent to cohesively juxtapose atmospheric textures with polished technicality a la Neurosis and Gojira, and a focus on jazz study among the fresh-faced instrumentalists, Múr is already proving itself to be a reckoning force.

Exhibiting a musicianship that collectively exhibits impressive virtuosity, it’s unsurprising that frontman Kári Haraldsson (Vocals, Keytar, Synthesizers), guitarists Hilmir Árnason and Jón Ísak Ragnarsson, bassist Ívar Klausen and drummer Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson each already have established impressive resumes as their interest in music all started in their early childhoods. Haraldsson is an unprecedented force, not only transforming the typically bright and cheerful keytar into an ominous weapon of sound, he has been a musician since the early age of five when he started taking drumming lessons with his grandfather. His interest in music continued to flourish in his teens, where he studied classical and jazz piano and ultimately started to try his hand in composition. His efforts paid off as he already has written scores for two projects - the Icelandic feature film ‘Harmur’ (‘Come to Harm,' 2021) and the Icelandic TV series, ‘Gestir’ (2024). His cinematic sensibilities are now evident in the gradoise soundscapes that he creates for Múr.

Haraldsson then released his first solo project, Bláþræðir, in 2020, which was part of a larger collaborative project in which he and director Hrafnkell Tumi Georgsson made an animated short film with an original score. This partnership soon came to produce Múr’s haunting first music video for the song “Heimsslit.” Ever since Múr came into existence, it has been his main outlet for songwriting and is his purest creative expression.

Guitarists Hilmir Árnason and Jón Ísak Ragnarsson both had a similar trajectory, each learning classical guitar at a young age, but eventually learning the electric guitar as teens under the tutelage of Skálmöld’s Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson, who would eventually also play a role in Múr’s inception. Eventually, they each studied jazz, pursuing a formal education of the subject at Icelandic music schools Tónlistarskóli FÍH and Menntaskóli í Tónlist, respectively.

Also starting his musical training at age six, Árni Jökull Guðbjartsson didn’t start to hone his craft on drums until he was 13 and has performed in other local Icelandic bands (Krownest, Blóðmör) before joining Múr. His experience in punk and hardcore bands have been integral to his stage presence, lending to his immense energy and live ferocity.

Ívar Klausen also discovered his craft later in life, starting as a guitarist before conquering the bass. As a guitarist, he was actively involved in the local pop scene, contributing his talents both in studio and on stage for various artists. He also studied jazz guitar at the Icelandic music school Menntaskóli í Tónlist and has released several other records with his band Dópamín, where he sings and shreds the guitar as the frontman.

The commonalities between the musicians of Múr made the formation of this project almost seem inevitable, with ties between the members going back to their school years. “It started when Hilmir and I met in our first year of high school and started jamming in my mom’s garage, playing covers of our favorite rock and metal songs,” explains Haraldsson of the band’s inception. “Hilmir and Jón Ísak had the same guitar teacher at the time, Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson, but one day he introduced them to each other and strongly encouraged them to join forces with me in that very same garage the next weekend and start playing together. We became good friends over the next couple of years, meeting most weekends to hang out and play all sorts of different covers and some very early original material as well, but back then I was the drummer, so we were just a guitars and drums three-piece.

“A few years later we met the rest of the guys in the Icelandic music school, Menntaskóli í Tónlist, and things started to shape into what they are today when I stepped away from the drums to give full focus to the vocals, synthesizers (keytar) and songwriting. Singing was a completely new thing for me, only done originally so that the earliest songs I wrote for what would become Múr could include some vocal melodies. Ívar joined us on bass after I showed him some early Múr demos at school, but once this started looking like a full band and we had some of our first songs, we really needed a drummer.

“Sigurður Jakobsson (of Úlfúð, ex-Mannveira) joined us right around the start of the pandemic and we spent those isolated months really honing our inner dynamic as a band and were really tight by the time we could finally play our first gig when things finally started opening up again. Sigurður played the drums on the recordings for our debut album and stayed with us until we placed fourth at Wacken Metal Battle in Germany, but then had to part ways with us for personal and practical reasons, all on good terms. Árni, a good friend whom we had met through music school and the local scene, joined us right after, solidifying the lineup into what it is today.”

Múr’s trajectory really gained momentum a year after their formation when their talent was recognized in the spring of 2022 as they conquered the Icelandic Wacken Metal Battle, propelling them to an impressive fourth place in the international finale at Wacken Open Air in Germany.

Describing their music as “a wall of sound and emotion,” Múr is quick to point out that their sound is up for interpretation. “I’m not sure whether it’s our place to fully define it,” cautions Haraldsson “as people seem to take vastly different things away from experiencing it, depending on who they are and what they like in music.” While their complex passages will undoubtedly elicit different perspectives as it borrows from many genres and elements, the emotional component to their music is more direct, with lyrics that center on the human experience. “Most of the lyrics revolve around facing yourself, breaking the shackles of inner turmoil and finding strength in letting go,” he adds.

As for what comprises their multifaceted sound, Haraldsson explains, “We draw inspiration from a lot of different sources, both when it comes to the songwriting and when designing the more overarching soundscapes and textures. Amongst other things we are inspired by film scores, forces of nature, and various different forms of electronic music.”

Making their debut with their self-titled full-length, which will be released via Century Media Records on November 22, 2024, the newcomers already have a buzz around them as they have been winning over crowds on the festival circuit since conquering Soulcrusher Festival in 2023. Through their unique blend of atmospheric textures, evocative songwriting, and raw emotional intensity, Múr has garnered critical acclaim both within their homeland and beyond, solidifying their position as one of the country's most promising and exciting musical exports.

Gaahls WYRD Announce New Album 'Braiding the Stories'

Under the ghostly glow of nightfall, inside the deep corridors of Norway's mythic wilderness, rises Gaahls WYRD, once again shrouded in mystery. The Norwegian Grammy winners' upcoming second album journeys inward, between the riverbeds of consciousness and dreams. With each cosmic chord, each cold and haunting beat, Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal and his mystical band untell the stories, and in the process, braid the roots that cradle the unseen.

Braiding the Stories comes out June 6, 2025 on Season of Mist.

The striking cover art by visual artist Øivind Myksvoll (Wardruna, Trelldom) is just as mysterious and arresting as his work for The Humming Mountain. Look closely and you’ll find what appears to be hair (aka the veil) and the cosmos (crystallized wine from Gaahl’s collection). Indeed, the group’s signature horned figure lurks between the layers. For Gaahls WYRD, music, lyrics, concept, and art are synonymous. They’re designed to be experienced in their entirety and in unison. Braiding the Stories isn’t an obvious listen, but it gently (and sometimes maniacally) pulls at the listener. The sensation of the journey from opener “The Dream” to closing epic “Flowing Starlight” is quite unlike anything before. All hail Braiding the Stories!

Highly-anticipated “Popeye the Slayer Man” Horror Flick Gets a Killer Music Video "Sailor To Slayer"

Popeye The Slayer Man actress,

Angela Relucio, and musicians, Kyle Brian Abbott (Vigil of War) and Dustin Treinen (Paria) just unleashed “Sailor to Slayer,”an explosive alternative metal song that serves as an anthem to the much discussed horror film,

Popeye the Slayer Man, which hits select theaters as well as VOD on Friday March 21, 2025.

The trio, performing collectively as

The Man From Alphabet, also dropped an accompanying high-octane music video that pays homage to the Popeye of yesteryear as well as the reimagined, darker version.

In fact, Treinen said,” I was driven to create a dark mood for the song as a whole, but begin with something energetic that kicks in hard and has a lot of groove, eventually using a syncopated rhythm to build into a big open chorus with a thick and powerful wall of guitars and haunting vocal melodies.”

Relucio, who stars in the movie, adds, “Having been in the film, I knew the script intimately, so I wrote lyrics that go deeper than Popeye’s monstrous facade while honoring the other characters’ experience, and capturing the sort of raw chaos that makes you feel on edge. I also wanted to convey that intensity in my music video performance. So you get a taste of what you can expect from the film.”

For Abbott, whose YouTube channel with drum content has garnered over 30 million views, it was a no-brainer to jump on board; while stuck in LA traffic, he heard a radio show host raving about the movie’s announcement. Abbott recalls, “Coincidentally, Dustin called me up a few hours later and asked me to co-write the theme for it [themovie]. I was, like, ‘Fuck yeah! Dustin came in with some riff ideas and structure, and then we finalized the instrumentation and matched Angela’s lyrical ideas to the music. I’ve been producing rock and metal for about 15 years, but this was one of the first times I really got to take a song from demo to the final product and not feel any imposter syndrome through the process. It slaps, mayne."

Both the “Sailor to Slayer” song and video are set to make waves in the alternative metal scene, and with

Popeye the Slayer Man soon hitting theaters and VOD, this powerhouse collaboration promises to leave a lasting mark on fans of both horror and music.

Jeff Miller (The Toy box), Cuyle Carvin (Ouija Witch), and Ryan also contributed to the story. Producers include - along with Miller, Carvin, and Ryan-Alexander Tucker, Nathan Todaro, and Alysa Blasetti. Reads the synopsis for

Popeye the Slayer Man, “A group of friends sneak into an abandoned spinach canning factory to film a documentary on the legend of ‘The Sailor Man,’ who is said to haunt the factory and local docks, only to find out that the legend is all-too true.”

Popeye the Slayer Man

stars Sean Michael Conway, Elena Juliano, Mabel Thomas, Marie -Louise Boisnier, Jeff Thomas, and

Steven McCormack, along with “scream queens” Angela Relucio (Code Black, The Cabining) and Sarah Nicklin (The Black Mass, Garden of Eden).

Jason Stephens plays the title role. Special makeup effects are supervised by R.J. Young with cinematography by Korey Rowe. Said Ryan of Popeye the Slayer Man,

a film which has been featured on Drudge Report, CBS News and outlets around the world since its announcement in November of 2024, “We went old-school with this movie, using practical effects for the horror. I wanted this film to have a more visceral feel reminiscent of the classic horror films of the ‘70s and ‘80s.” Added Miller, “We hope audiences will have as much fun with this movie as we had making it. Grab a can of spinach, sit back, and enjoy!” Said VMI Worldwide COO and Head of Acquisitions Jessica Russo, who negotiated the deal, “Popeye the Slayer Man’s dark reimagining of the classic Popeye character delivers a fresh take on a beloved icon that audiences will die for."

Dorothy Releases "The Way" Today + Touring This Spring

Rock powerhouse DOROTHY is back, unleashing her highly anticipated new album, The Way, today via Roc Nation. Get it here or here. Fans can also shop Dorothy's online store and get the physical record here.

The album has already garnered widespread acclaim, earning praise from Rolling Stone, MTV, Revolver, Us Weekly, Forbes, INKED, Outburn, and more — solidifying Dorothy as a rising force in modern rock.

Pre-release singles "MUD," "Devil I Know," "I Come Alive," and "Tombstone Town," featuring guitar legend Slash, have further elevated her position among rock's elite. "Tombstone Town" is currently climbing the Active Rock charts, sitting in the Top 20 and continuing to gain momentum. The video is at No. 4 on VEVO's chart.

Dorothy spotlights "Superhuman" as the album's release day focus track, a soaring anthem that captures the raw emotion and resilience woven throughout The Way. With soul-stirring vocals and thunderous instrumentation, "Superhuman" showcases Dorothy's ability to craft songs that are both deeply personal and universally anthemic — a defining trait of her artistry. Listen below.

Executive produced by Scott Stevens (Shinedown, Halestorm, Daughtry), The Way is a bold, unfiltered journey through themes of self-discovery, resilience, and redemption. Dorothy's signature blend of raw energy, soulful grit, genre-blending influences, and powerhouse vocals make this her most compelling work yet.

As a woman in rock, Dorothy continues to break barriers in a genre historically dominated by men, proving that ferocity, authenticity, and sheer talent know no gender. With The Way, she cements her place among rock's most formidable voices, standing alongside the greats while carving out her own lane.

Beyond the rock world, The Way is resonating across genres. The album landed on key playlists, including Hard Rock, Volume, and Heavy Queens (Spotify) and Breaking Hard Rock and New In Rock(Apple Music). Dorothy also made waves in country, with "Tombstone Town" earning spots on Country Rocks (Spotify) and New In Country (Apple Music), showcasing her ability to transcend boundaries while staying true to her gritty, unapologetic sound.

Dorothy shares, "This album is a love letter to the fans. I'm letting them know everything is going to be okay, and we'll help each other find the way — even if we get lost at times."

This spring, Dorothy will hit the road for a headlining tour, including major festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville and Boardwalk Rock. The tour kicks off on April 16 in Nashville. Full tour dates are listed below. Get tickets here

Projecting a full-bodied voice with every inch of her being, Dorothy Martin kindles a spark of hope into a flame as bright as the sun itself. The Budapest, Hungary-born maverick singer, songwriter, performer, and frontwoman of the Los Angeles-based eponymous band, Dorothy brings gusto, grit, and glory back to hard rock, exuding superstar-size confidence coupled with the quiet resolve of an old school Western anti-hero. She has unassumingly blazed her own trail with sold out tours, major collaborations, and over 1 billion streams already in the rearview.

However, her vision really catches fire on her fourth full-length album, The Way[Roc Nation].

Dorothy arrived with the force of a hurricane back in 2016, serving up the full-length debut ROCKISDEAD. Surging on all platforms on which fans discover new music, "Raise Hell" and "Wicked Ones" reeled in streams. The band organically attracted a diehard global fanbase with 28 Days in the Valley [2018] and Gifts From The Holy Ghost [2022]. KERRANG! hailed the latter as "a hot-blooded rock ‘n' roll record through and through," and RIFF raved, "Holy Ghost serves as a triumphant battle cry and a return to form." Perhaps, Outburn put it best, "It's her most bombastic and gloriously, victorious rock and roll work yet." Simultaneously, the singer took flight as the rare dynamo equally at home on a track with Slash and Nita Strauss of Alice Cooper or Staind and Scott Stapp of Creed. She even notably dueted with Stapp at the Grand Ole Opry.

Over the course of 2024, she carefully architected what would become The Way alongside songwriter and producer Scott Stevens [Halestorm, Shinedown, Daughtry]. Expanding the creative palette, they leaned into heavier rock spiked with a healthy helping of Southern swagger and country-style storytelling.

Amphibians can be streamed or you purchase the EP both physically or digitally at https://septicflesh.bfan.link/amphibians.

SEPTICFLESH has a remarkable ability to maintain continuity from album to album, while at the same time building on what has they have created in the past. Lyrical elements incorporated in all of their albums are based on opposites. For example, the ideas of heaven and hell, good and evil, or development and destruction have often served as metaphorical images in SEPTICFLESH's lyrics. Musically, the band also plays on opposites, using the dynamic differences between dissonant vs. melodic and dark vs. light to create a blend of gentle orchestral passages with the heavy wall of sound that produces something very unique in the world of Metal music. With the release of their most recent EP, Amphibians, SEPTICFLESH continues to create a story that is equally as compelling as the music. So, dive in and become immersed in the world of amphibian demigods, the Nommo. Behold the Amphibians!

Formed as “Septic Flesh” in Greece in the early '90s, SEPTICFLESH has carved an indelible mark on the metal scene. With a rich history spanning decades, the band has continuously evolved their sound, incorporating symphonic elements to create a truly unique sonic experience. From their debut EP Temple of The Lost Race to their latest masterpiece SEPTICFLESH has captivated audiences with their dynamic compositions and haunting melodies. With each album, they push the boundaries of symphonic metal, weaving together intricate orchestrations with crushing riffs and powerful vocals. Don't miss your chance to witness their monumental live performances, where the thunderous sound of SEPTICFLESH will engulf you in a whirlwind of emotion and intensity.

ENVY OF NONE’S NEW SINGLE ‘THE STORY’ OUT TODAY WITH NEW VIDEO, TAKEN FROM THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM STYGIAN WAVZ Aol

Ahead of the release of their new album Stygian Wavz (March 28th, Kscope), American/Canadian fourpiece Envy Of None have shared a brand-new single today. The second track from the new album, ‘The Story’ holds a special place in each of the band member’s hearts and is brought to life with a stunning new video by Jaden D.

Speaking about the new single and inspiration behind the video, songwriter and vocalist Maiah Wynne shared “I wrote about wanting to be better, to grow, and the sense of desperation that comes with that desire. To me, the song is about the struggle of not being able to break bad cycles. I had been stuck for a very long time and was trying to be better. I think it’s a theme a lot of people can connect with in some way. Whether it's habits, addiction, self-sabotage, or just unhealthy patterns, we all are trapped by something we are trying to break away from. If I had the power to write my own story, I’d want to be the hero, but so often I am my own villain.”

Envy Of None announced their new album back in January and have so far shared 3 standout singles, ‘Not Dead Yet’, ‘Under The Stars’ and ‘Stygian Waves’. To promote the album, the band recently appeared on Talk Shop Live in the US with host Steve Harkins to discuss the creation of Stygian Wavz, the writing and recording process and plans for the future. Check it out here.

Though they’d never describe themselves as such,Envy Of Noneare the living, breathing definition of a supergroup. No other band on earth could rightly claim to have Alex Lifeson – one of rock’s most influential visionaries – heading up guitar duties, with Andy Curran of Coney Hatch and Soho 69 overseeing bass/programming as well as producer extraordinaire Alfio Annibalini on keyboards. However, the star in this band could very well be its youngest member – American singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne – whose wonderfully emotive vocals are able to spin the music in new exciting directions that thrill to the core.

On their self-titled debut of 2022, the group were able to prove that they were a lot more than the sum of their parts, with an abundance of panache and finesse poured into a contemporary alt rock sound that was hard to predict and even harder to categorise. This year’s sophomore release,Stygian Wavz, is the sound of a band basking in the radiant glow of creative confidence and coming into their own, staggering the listener with every twist and turn encased within their heady mix of genre-splicing brilliance.

About Jack Starr:
Starr emerged on the rock and metal scene in 1981, forming, together with Joey Ayvazian, David DeFeis and Joe O’Rielly, the first incarnation of the heavy metal band Virgin Steele. The new band was selected in 1982 by Mike Varney of Shrapnel Records to appear on the label's compilation album U.S. Metal Volume 2. After only two albums, Virgin Steele of 1981 and Guardians of the Flame of 1982, Starr left Virgin Steele in 1983.

In 1984, Starr started his solo recording career with the album Out of the Darkness, featuring former Riot vocalist Rhett Forrester, members of The Rods and former Rainbow drummer Gary Driscoll. It was released in Europe by Music for Nations and was picked as one of the best albums of the year by the music magazines Kerrang! and Metal Forces.

Starr changed the name of his band to Jack Starr's Burning Starr and between 1984 and 1989 he produced albums, both solo and with the band. The music of those albums was classic American eighties heavy metal, a style between Poison and Metallica. In 1989 the band dissolved and Starr joined short-lived bands like Strider and Smoke Stack Lightning.

In the following years, Starr once again assembled a group of musicians for a new incarnation of Burning Starr, which performed at the Magic Circle Festival 2008 and released the album Defiance on Manowar's label Magic Circle Music in 2009. In 2011 they released Land of the Dead with Limb Music. The albums includes ex-Manowar guest musicians Ross the Boss and David Shankle. The band played at the 2013 Keep It True festival and recorded a DVD.

HEATHEN - Bleed The World: Live Album Out Now + Release Video For 'The Blight (Live)'

For the past 40 years, the Bay Area thrash pioneers HEATHEN have abided by their never-say-die attitude. The HEATHEN brand of intelligent yet aggressive Thrash appealed not only to the genre’s core demographic but also to metal fans looking for brains behind the brawn.

Today, HEATHEN releases their latest offering Bleed The World: Live. The album features songs from each of the band’s albums, including recent tracks such as ‘Sun in My Hand’ and ‘The Blight’ as well as classics such as ‘Hypnotized’ and ‘Goblin’s Blade,’ mirroring the band’s crushing live setlist. The band also reveal the video for the track 'The Blight (Live)'.

HEATHEN comments, "After 3 years of touring for Empire of the Blind, we are super stoked to finally release Bleed the World: Live! We poured our blood and sweat into the performances on this album and we can't wait to share them all. Thank you to everyone who attended a show, bought merch, and supported the band on this tour.
