Employing a dazzling mix of glam rock, hard rock, and progressive rock, Angel's outrageous, white-satin-heavy image and equally over-the-top stage shows, making them one of the more colorful arena rock bands of the mid '70s and early '80s. Discovered by KISS bass player, Gene Simmons, the group issued their eponymous debut album in 1975, which hewed closer to prog rock than the glam pop that would be on future endeavors like On Earth as It Is in Heaven (1977) and Sinful (1979). The group released a total of five studio albums and one live album before going their separate ways in 1981. The band officially re-formed in 2019 with original members, Punky Meadows and Frank DiMino, and released their comeback studio effort, Risen, later that October and followed up with Once Upon A Time in 2023.

The group's self-titled 1975 debut was recorded for Casablanca Records with a line-up comprising Frank DiMino (vocals), Punky Meadows (guitar), Gregg Giuffria (keyboards), Mickie Jones (bass), and Barry Brandt (drums). Now to celebrate the 50th Anniversary this classic has been remastered and is being released on both a 6-panel CD digipak and on 180G vinyl in two amazing Limited- Edition Colors with liner notes by journalist Dave Reynolds. you, infinite reunites Jeremy Galindo and Raymond Brown, founders of acclaimed instrumental outfit This Will Destroy You, in a new collaborative project. After departing TWDY to pursue a career in medicine, Brown continued to write music while establishing a successful practice in Austin, Texas. During the pandemic, he accumulated a collection of melodies and ideas which he shared with Galindo, sparking a renewed creative partnership. Separated by distance, with Galindo in Los Angeles and Brown in Austin, the duo began to exchange ideas digitally in order to shape the foundations of you, infinite's electronic-edged, panoramic post-rock sound.

Between 2021 and 2024, the two came together in person to refine the pieces and ultimately to finalize the album. Working with Andrew Hernandez, who recorded and mixed the album in the summer of 2024, Brown and Galindo were joined by Johnnie McBryde, Ethan Billips, and Nicholas Huft, all current members of Galindo's TWDY lineup, in order to truly bring the album to life.

Futuristic Dutch Metallers CRYPTOSIS Launch New Single “Static Horizon” + Video

Dutch futuristic metallers CRYPTOSIS have announced their return with a mighty, awe-inspiring sophomore album entitled 'Celestial Death', set for worldwide release on March 7th, 2025 via Century Media Records.

Chicago indie pop-rock outfit Push Puppets shares cinematic single 'All Together On 3', heralding fourth album

Melodic indie pop-rock outfit Push Puppets presents 'All Together On 3', the cinematic first single from their album 'Tethered Together', slated for release later in 2025. A catchy introduction to their new long-player, it has a timeless quality, tinged with a touch of melancholic reflection, taking us on a sonic trip that is as stimulating as it is emotionally resonant.

Based in the Chicago satellite community of Palatine, Push Puppets revolves around singer-songwriter and guitarist Erich Specht. They create songs with earworm melodies and shiny production that belie the often bittersweet sentiments in the songwriting.

A clear standout on the album, 'All Together On 3' blissfully reaches the listener's tympanum through the workings of a five-piece band and string quartet. A moody and musically progressive song about how we’re stronger when we work together, it builds to a cathartic reprise of live strings and harpsichord with a desperate vocal crying for a helping hand as violins punctuate the lines with elegance.

With Specht on lead vocals and guitar, Push Puppets is rounded out by Steve Frisbie (backup vocals and guitar), Kyle Magnusson (keyboards), John William Lauler (bass) and Greg Essig (drums).  On this particular album, they are joined with a string quartet on most songs and a horn section on one.

"I think 'All Together On 3' paints a pretty vivid picture of someone needing help out of a tough situation.  This one was very satisfying to see fully realized.  It has some math rock moments like phrases and patterns of different lengths keeping things interesting," says Erich Specht.

Their fourth album, 'Tethered Together' is graced with impeccable songwriting that shines with lush harmonies, angular guitars, dramatic keyboards and strings backed by a rhythm section to ensure a continually high groove factor.

Frontman Erich Specht muses on relationships and loss, as well as the weight and joy of life, in a manner that is poetic and seems effortless, his lyrics fitting to the melody like pieces of a puzzle. Wearing his vulnerabilities like a badge of honor, this music takes us on a journey to unexpected places.

With songs as the engine of this album, nurtured and allowed to reach their potential, 'Tethered Together' is quite a varied sounding album, eloquently woven together by Specht’s unique storytelling.

"This album offers a nod to the artistic excesses of the 70s, whether it's a wall of phased vocals or a moment where guitars and strings rip a quick line together between phrases.  The tracks are widely varied yet cohesive - and within a given song, you're likely to be taken elsewhere" says Erich Specht.

"Once it was decided that strings would be on the album, the sound took an interesting twist.  At places where I might normally put a guitar hook, I was now composing bold phrases for the live string quartet that the vocal or lead guitar could interact with."

As of February 4, 'All Together On 3' is available from fine digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full 'Tethered Together' album will be released on May 16 via Flowering Tree Music.

PROG ROCKERS RADIANT MOON TEAM UP WITH DEKO ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE THEIR DEBUT ALBUM NOW'S THE TIME, OUT NOW ON CD AND STREAMING EVERYWHERE

Radiant Moon was formed in 2021 when veteran musicians/songwriters Brian Facklam (keyboards, vocals) and Dave Shahin (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals) joined forces with Jimmy Grillo (drums) and Nick Lieto (vocals). They came from very different musical backgrounds which helped to create a unique chemistry in the band. Dave Shahin has been in multiple original rock and prog bands as well as being Tommy Tedesco's (Wrecking Crew Guitarist) East Coast bassist in the 90's, and has performed with Steve Gadd. Jimmy Grillo is also a veteran of multiple original bands and has toured as Carl Palmer's drum tech. Nick Lieto was a singer, keyboardist, and songwriter for Frogg Cafe who besides releasing original albums also performed at the famed Zappanale festival in Germany. Brian Facklam has not only been a major part of multiple bands but holds a master's degree in music and music theory.

Together they've recorded their debut album Now's The Time and it is already garnering impressive reviews.

NITE Slither on New Single "Cult of the Serpent Sun"

While they're known for putting a twist on traditional heavy metal, NITE strives to be a light when the world is constricted by darkness. After venturing to the ancient cosmos on their last album, Cult of the Serpent Sun pits NITE against the shadowy mythology that lays dormant beneath society's underbelly. To steel themselves for battle against the album's poisonous perils, NITE wisely triples down on their classic attack. Like  a hydra, "Cult of the Serpent Sun" shakes out of your speakers. Van Labrakis unleashes a monstrous riff that slithers with all the leathery glory of '80s heavy metal gods.

"Fans really responded to older songs like 'Acheron' and 'Genesis", Labrakis says. "Cult of the Serpent Sun has more songs that are fast and upbeat and help lift people's spirits".

Indeed, storming stages from Northwest Terror Fest to Hell's Heroes VI has only honed NITE's cutting-edge weaponry. Under his hammering swings, Patrick Crawford's drums crack like thunder before galloping through the storm. Avinash Mittur digs the heel of his Rickenbacker bass into a deep, dark groove as dueling guitarist Scott Hoffman trades off swashbuckling leads.

"Pour your venom / Preachers of the underground", Labrakis hisses, his fangs sharpened by road-tested grit.     

"Cult of the Serpent Sun explores how historically there has always been a power structure ready to indoctrinate and exploit the hordes of mindless fools who will so quickly worship at the altar of death", NITE says. "Death eternal!"

NITE's classic weaponry shows no signs of rust on their third album. "The Last Blade" draws first blood amidst an acoustic flurry before thrusting onto the offensive. "The aim here is not to replicate that era but to explore and evolve," Labrakis told Decibel when asked about the band's influences. Cult of the Serpent Sun honors the trailblazing spirits of old by honing what separates this band's particular alchemy from mere imitation brew. "The Mystic" expands their sonic palette, featuring a slow-burning bass line that stretches time and space into a hypnotic portal. With its whirling and enchanted melody, "Tarmut" glimmers like a desert mirage.

"We play a traditional style of heavy metal, but the blackened element takes us in a different direction," Labrakis says. His road-hardened voice stands resolute in "Carry On," denouncing the perils of war. "Dream on and find who you are," he beckons on the album's triumphant closer "Winds of Sokar."    
 
On Cult of the Serpent Sun, NITE guards the altar of blackened heavy metal with sharpened blades and axes raised.

Canadian Hard Rockers HAREM SCAREM Unveil New Single "Reliving History" + Lyric Video

Arguably Canada’s finest melodic hard rock band, HAREM SCAREM were formed in 1987 by guitarist Pete Lesperance and singer Harry Hess, formerly of the heavy metal band Blind Vengeance. The lineup was rounded out by Darren Smith (drums) and Mike Gionet (bass). 

They recorded a demo in 1989 and, on the strength of it, they were signed to Warner Music. Their self-titled album was a significant success in Canada and paved the way to the release of the heavier 'Mood Swings' album in 1993, often considered the crown jewel of their early releases. 

Enjoying a particular success in the land of the Rising Sun, HAREM SCAREM kept on releasing albums regularly during the 90’s, until they decided to ultimately change their name and music style to Rubber between 1999 and 2001. 

In 2002, the band came back to melodic hard rock with the milestone album 'Weight Of The World', which was their first proper release in the European marketplace thanks to their newly signed deal with Frontiers. With the Italian label, HAREM SCAREM released another five original albums (not counting 2006’s 'Human Nature') until they took a break from recording in 2008 after the release of the album 'Hope'.

In December 2012, it was announced that a reunited HAREM SCAREM would headline the 10th Firefest festival in Nottingham, UK, in October 2013, to perform the 'Mood Swings'album in its entirety. The band regrouped and performed at Firefest and moved forward re-recording 'Mood Swings II', a twenty-year anniversary re-recording of their critically acclaimed and fan favorite second album. 

The three new songs included on that release showed renewed musical vigor and chemistry. This new energy was confirmed on 2014's 'Thirteen' release, which was a definitive return to the sound that put HAREM SCAREM on the map over 20 years earlier. 

Two more acclaimed albums followed: 'United' (2017) and 'Change The World' (2020), where the band presented a new lineup featuring Harry Hess (lead vocals, keyboards), Pete Lesperance (guitars, keyboards), long-time drummer Creighton Doane, Mike Vassos on bass, and backing vocals from original sticksman Darren Smith.

With well over a million records sold in 43 countries and 12 top 40 hits around the globe, the new year will see HAREM SCAREM return and ready to dominate! Check them on tour in Europe in spring!

It feels like a pathetic way to differentiate the two, but the song is about the human flaw that makes art what it is. Being able to include our friend TJ from Still Remains on the song was a special moment for our younger selves that also felt like it lent credence to the subject."

Capitol Records' Christian Hayes Makes Grand Ole Opry Debut

Capitol Records recording artist Christian Hayes made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Saturday, Feb. 1. Donning a Schott leather jacket designed by Dixon and Jack, embroidered with artwork inspired by his debut EP, Last I Love You, released last September, and inscripted with his nickname "The Lullaby Kid," Hayes performed two songs from the hallowed circle: "Home Sweet Home" and "LILY."

While "Home Sweet Home" is unreleased, "LILY" (which is an acronym for "Last I Love You") struck a chord with listeners, who turned it into a viral hit, quickly sending combined global streams past the six million mark.

Hayes' debut EP, Last I Love You, is available everywhere now and casts a wide net, fusing Americana and folk while bouncing between campfire ballads, cinematic soundscapes and raw, rowdy barn-burners. At the center of that sound is Hayes himself: a wise-beyond-his-years musician who knows he can't move forward without taking a look at his past.

Raised in the Appalachian foothills of northern Georgia, Christian Hayes grew up surrounded by southern storytelling. Snapcase: Legacy Documentary Update

 Fourth.Media recently announced the production of Snapcase: Legacy, the first official, feature-length documentary chronicling one of the most important bands in hardcore — SNAPCASE.

The documentary aims to chart the extraordinary four-decade history of the Buffalo band, which paved the way for so many acts that have came after. It is based on Optic: A Visual Archive, the 2022-released book by Tom Bejgrowicz and the band.

The project is being produced by filmmakers Nathaniel Shannon and William Saunders — the team behind DEADGUY: KILLING MUSIC.

Since the initial announce, some exciting developments have taken place.

The producers are actively negotiating a Blu-ray distribution deal, and will have more updates as they get closer to the release date.

They are also in discussions for submissions and screenings at multiple film festivals. 

Upon completion, the film will be available to be view on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, YouTube TV, Thunderfix, and Tubi, with even more to come!

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to involve the global Snapcase and hardcore/music communities in bringing this story to their screens.

Viewers can expect a journey to Buffalo and beyond, with exclusive interviews with key figures in the hardcore scene, unreleased archival footage, live performances, and more.

If you're a Snapcase fan, this documentary will be a "must watch." If you were a member of the scene in the mid-to-late-'90s, prepare to be transported you your youth. If you're an enthusiast or new to the genre, this doc will serve as required coursework.
 

Filming began in July 2023, with live performances and interviews captured at Snapcase's show at Crossroads in Garwood, New Jersey. With picture lock slated for October 2025, Snapcase: Legacy is on track for film festival submissions, screenings, and online distribution shortly thereafter.

Snapcase established themselves as one of the most important bands of the hardcore scene in the '90s and into the '00s, with the
release of the definitive Lookinglasself in 1993 and the game-changing, genre essential Progression Through Unlearning in 1997. The film explores their rise, their status as standard setters, their sonic evolution, and their continued relevance on the modern hardcore and post-hardcore scenes.

Nathaniel Shannon and William Saunders bring decades of experience in music and documentary production. Deadly Apples Team Up with NIN / Filter Legends for New Single "Volatile" ​

The wait is over. Deadly Apples, the Montreal-based rock/metal powerhouse, have released their highly anticipated new single, "Volatile," now available on all major streaming platforms. Renowned for their electrifying performances, the band delivers a monumental track that features guest appearances by Richard Patrick of Filter and Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails.

"Volatile" marks the first single from the band’s upcoming album, DISTRESS, slated for release this summer. Active Rock Band Nerv Release New Single “LOST!” via SBG Records; On Tour this Spring! ​

Sacramento-based active rock band Nerv has dropped their explosive new single, "LOST!", now available via SBG Records. Accompanying the release is the official music video, showcasing the band’s high-energy performance. This spring, Nerv will hit the road to support the new single.

With over 40 million streams across platforms and a solid history on SiriusXM Octane, Music Choice, BBC1 Rock, and Spotify Editorial, Nerv has quickly become a force in the rock scene. The band recently completed a tour with Polaris and played major festivals like Louder Than Life and Aftershock.

Nerv, is a 4-piece active rock band residing in Sacramento California. The band consists of vocalist Dillon Jones, guitarists Jordan Grokett, Scott Buchanan, and drummer Tyler Clark.

Nerv broke onto the scene in November 2017 with their heavy hitting debut single 'Enough'. HOUSE OF LORDS is now formed by the legendary singer James Christian – the sole member who appeared on all the band’s albums - guitarist Jimi Bell, who has been with the band since their return with 'World Upside Down,' the charismatic keyboardist and songwriter Mark Mangold (Touch, Michael Bolton, Drive, She Said) along with Swedish drummer Johan Koleberg (Lions Share, Ignition, Therion). This is the same line-up that appeared on the previous album 'Saints And Sinners' however they are now definitely more gelled and have produced a more focused and extremely ambitious new album with no weak points.

With plans to bring these new songs to stages across Europe and the States, HOUSE OF LORDS continues to be a driving force in the hard rock scene.

HOUSE OF LORDS debuted in 1989 with the release of their self-titled album, a record that is still regarded as one of the best arena rock releases of the 1980s. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of Christian, and the instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex-Angel and Giuffria keyboardist Gregg Giuffria, along with luminaries Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright, and Ken Mary), were reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Van Halen and immediately brought the band to the attention of the mainstream music media and the masses of '80s hard rock fans.

With their sophomore release, 'Sahara,' HOUSE OF LORDS had considerable radio and video chart success with their cover of Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home." After a tour with Nelson in 1991, the group disbanded, eventually coming back together with a new lineup (featuring original members Giuffria and Christian) in 1992 with "Demon's Down." With the change in musical climate at the time, HOUSE OF LORDS hibernated until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing the controversial "Power And The Myth," an album that featured a sound leaning more towards progressive hard rock with '70s rock influences.

After a short European tour, Christian decided to go back to the trademark arena rock sound of HOUSE OF LORDS, putting together a new lineup with the blessing of founding member Giuffria, who opted out right before the release of "Power And The Myth." New members Jimi Bell on guitars and B.J. Zampa on drums supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album, "World Upside Down,' a record that caused a real stir in the hard rock and melodic rock scenes. That album was followed up by the equally impressive "Come To My Kingdom" in 2008, "Cartesian Dreams" in 2009, "Big Money" in 2011, "Precious Metal" in 2014, and "Saint Of The Lost Souls" in 2017.

HOUSE OF LORDS have toured relentlessly in Europe and the States in support of their releases and are a true staple of the hard rock scene on both continents.

Just To Say We Did: Kenny Chesney's Sphere Sales Are Almost Gone

Kenny Chesney knew when he signed on to a series of shows at the groundbreaking Sphere, he was going to bring his songs into a world of wrap-around visual, sound quality that defies the imagination and the opportunity to bring No Shoes Nation into another dimension. Something that almost defies comprehension, the notion of “you have to see it to believe it” didn’t stop the people who have made the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar’s summer stadium tours a celebration of living, loving, friends, fun and positivity.
 
With the official on-sale day seeing most of the tickets snapped up, most of the inventory is gone. With only a few Sandbar tickets, VIP packages and scattered tickets available, the rush to see the man Variety called “country music’s only true long-term stadium act” demonstrates a curiosity for new experiences that matches Chesney’s own.
 
“You never know when you do something outside the box if people will follow you,” Chesney admits. “I had a feeling as hard as No Shoes Nation sings all these songs back to me summer after summer, the chance to take this singular deep dive into them would hit them the same way it hit me. To be wrapped in this sound quality and all new visuals means a whole different way to get inside the music, and they’re as ready as I am.”
 
Only the sixth act and first country artist to play Sphere, Chesney understood it would mean re-thinking various aspects of how he and his band approach his legendary live shows. From the wrap-around 160,000 square foot screen that extends from the stage across the domed ceiling, as well as sound dialed in almost to each specific seat, the experience of how the music will hit wasn’t lost on him. Plus, these shows will be his only tour dates for 2025.
 
“Sometimes you want to go where other acts haven’t been yet,” Chesney explained. “You don’t always know what’s going to happen, but that adds to the excitement. Anyone who loves music wants to get as immersed in it as possible. For me, Sphere offered something you can’t experience anywhere else – and even before we get there, I’m already finding myself in spaces with the songs and visuals I’d never thought of. It’s like magic, only better.”

Disciples of Verity Release New Single "Thread The Needle" via TLG|ZOID ​

Disciples of Verity, fronted by the legendary Corey Glover (Living Colour), have unveiled their latest single, "Thread the Needle," through TLG|ZOID and distributed by Virgin Music Group.

The song is from their sophomore album titled NEXUS that was produced by George Pond and co-produced by Sahaj Ticotin. Accompanying the release of the single is a music video that offers a powerful visual representation of the song’s message.

Corey Pierce shares, "'Thread the Needle' is such a dynamic song as it's based in the roots of pessimism versus hope in an abstract call to all of us moving into an unforseen future."

Fueled by an insatiable urge to create and collaborate, this heavy metal incarnation seeks to challenge all that they believe to be true with their project, Disciples of Verity (DOV). The band features heavy-hitters such as Corey Glover (Living Colour), Corey Pierce (God Forbid), George Pond (Negative Sky, Swim The Current), Mark Monjoy (Sekond Skyn), and Zack Miranowic (Sekond Skyn, Riversend). This all-star band unleashes an onslaught to the senses with a new sound that can only be described as “a new breed of crossover Metal.”

The band formed just over four years ago after mutual projects brought the five members together. With Pond as the common denominator, having played with each of these artists throughout his career, his songs with Corey Glover were quickly embraced by the others, which evolved into their debut album, Pragmatic Sanction.

Over the next eight months, DOV feverishly cranked out eight heavy, hook-laden songs with one distinct element—their infectious, melodic grooves. Ranging from Hardcore, Metalcore and even Active Rock, the band knew that their debut would be like nothing else in the industry and brought in a veritable “who’s who” of the hard rock and metal industry to up the ante.

Four years have passed since the release of their first single from Pragmatic Sanction. However, now comes the dawn of a new age. They have been quietly working on 12 new tracks for their sophomore album titled NEXUS. The band worked with producer Sahaj Ticcotin, who has worked with Starset, Motley Crue, RA, Bad Wolves, and many more.This monster of a record is set to be released in 2025 through TLG/ZOID, and distributed through Virgin Music Group.

Corby sextet RAGING SPEEDHORN return with a new, wrestling-themed music video for "Every Night's Alright For Fighting" off of their upcoming album 'Night Wolf', out on March 7th via Spinefarm.

'Night Wolf' marks another powerful collaboration between RAGING SPEEDHORN and acclaimed producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, At The Gates, and Dimmu Borgir) at Kettering's Parlour Studios. Having previously helmed the band's 'Lost Ritual' and 'Hard To Kill' albums, Russell helps deliver 10 ferocious, riff-centered tracks that showcase the band's signature intensity.

“I think ‘Night Wolf’ is more of a progression of the last record,” states ringleader Morison, “that's what we've gone for really. When we first got back together after our hiatus, we didn't really know what we wanted to do. [2016’s] ‘Lost Ritual’ came quite quickly, because we didn't have enough time to write it. With [2020’s] ‘Hard To Kill’, we took more time to do it, and with‘Night Wolf’ we've taken a lot of time to do it really, we just wanted to make sure it was right this time. It's probably the longest we've ever taken to write a record; we wanted to make sure it was just right, and we were happy with it before we went in to record.”
