UK Alt-Pop Trio, EXPLORING BIRDSONG, Reveal New Single "Stitch" + Music Video

A beautifully curious blend of pop-sensibility, delicacy and experimentation. Piano led, guitar-less trio EXPLORING BIRDSONG are paving their own musical path with their latest single "Stitch".

“'Stitch' was a song that came together really quickly for us," comments EXPLORING BIRDSONG. "In a moment of borderline crazed inspiration, a lot of the key elements for 'Stitch' have existed more or less since the very first demo. We’re always keen to try new things and pull influence from lots of obscure places- this one unapologetically referencing the Davy Jones organ scene from Pirates of the Caribbean (IYKYK). The song itself is essentially about teamwork in a relationship, trying to feel strong in the face of adversity because someone you have helped to carry in the past is now carrying you. Despite 'Stitch' being a return to heavy BIRDSONG, we wanted the message to be a fairly sweet one.”

Emerging L.A. Artist WELSH WOLF Releases New Single “When You Cry” From Forthcoming 2025 EP & Announces Nashville & London Dates In December

Thursday, November 14, 2024 – In a previous life, Welsh Wolf (born Paul Freeman) worked behind the scenes with the best of them: He played guitar on James Blunt’s giant hit “You’re Beautiful”; toured the world with The Who, Chris Cornell, Chris Isaac, Roger Daltry, and Brandi Carlisle; wrote a Top 40 hit for Sleeping With Sirens; and had his material covered by the likes of Meat Loaf and Robbie Williams.

Now, Welsh Wolf is ready to howl on his own, emerging as a promising act of his own accord and releasing singles that will culminate in a debut EP in early 2025. The first taste came with “Wreck,” released in late September that quickly racked up streams in its first week. Today, the L.A.-based talent is unleashing the next edition, “When You Cry,” another power anthem that calls to mind The Cult, The Killers, and Sam Fender and was also inspired by his early loves like The Cure, T-Rex, Dire Straits, Paul McCartney and Wings. Both songs were crafted after Freeman looked to start a new chapter and hunkered down in his studio for over a year to perfect his craft; each was produced and mixed by John Spiker (Filter, Beck, The Killers).

“It felt like I was allowing my true self to be seen,” Freeman explains. “Before it felt like there was a filter that I didn’t realize was even there.  But now, I was finally allowing myself to be myself.”

Growing up in South Wales, Welsh Wolf was destined to be involved with music. At 10-years-old, he serendipitously found his first guitar sitting on a dumpster, picked it up, dusted it off and taught himself how to play his favorite songs, like “Band on the Run” (the only thing that would put him to sleep, according to his mother).

Freeman was a quick learner, and in due time, the budding artist moved to London, started a band called Boedekka and was signed to Boy George’s label. A few years later, Los Angeles was calling and, through a series of events, Freeman was linked up with Clive Davis who liked what he heard and set him on the path to success, not only touring with a who’s who of rock and pop but also finding his music landing in films including The Break-Up, as well as hit TV shows Jessica Jones and Insatiable.

Welsh Wolf is the latest chapter in the musician’s illustrious career, emerging under a new moon for a new time. Stay tuned …

InTheosis (Feat. Members of Extol) Share "ICONOCLAST" Lyric Video — WATCH + LISTEN // Band Shares New Album Hints

InTheosis is the brainchild of Norwegian Grammy-nominated Extol vocalist, Peter Espevoll, and Australian Gold producer Jon Reichardt. On paper it would seem like an unlikely fit, as the two have found success in very different musical genres, but in reality the collaboration makes perfect sense. 

Today, they have shared their third single thus far in the form of "ICONOCLAST."

It boasts quite the chunky groove and features vocal contributions from hip-hop artist DAMIEN.

"Our third single, 'Iconoclast,' features vocals from the talented wordsmith himself, Damien," the band states. "While the word 'iconoclast' may conjure up images of literal shattered idols, we wanted to explore how this concept works with long-held paradigms and beliefs that poison your mind. We all have them; sub-conscious or conscious. Patterns of thought that steal our joy, that haunt us during those sleepless nights, that keep us bound from offering our full selves to the gift of life. They are the 'corrupt trees that produce evil fruit.' Fusing dystopian synths with 8-string guitars, aggressive raps, a melodic chorus, all over pummeling drums, this song is an ode to destroying negative thought patterns and beliefs that infect our lives."
 
 InTheosis are also thrilled to share that they are working towards releasing their debut album late 2025.

Yet to be named, the body of work is looking to be a varied smorgasbord of modern metal with strong influences from prog, cyberpunk, hip-hop, and orchestral elements. The duo will continue exploring their core themes of spirituality and mental health. However, they will also be delving into topics such as parenthood, politics, and betrayal.

Despite living on opposite sides of the globe, the two have more in common than most.  Both are third culture kids having faced years of complex trauma respectively. Both experienced music as tormenter and healer. Both are learning how to live with the scars of the past, hoping to create meaning and solidarity from suffering.  InTheosis is the musical representation of this journey as the two find solace in the ancient and sacred, but also the dissonant and jaded. Everything will be made beautiful in its time.

Emerging Swedish Thrashers SARCATOR Unleashes Ferocious New Single, "Comet of End Times"

Swedish thrash metal newcomers SARCATOR will be releasing their new full-length, 'Swarming Angels & Flies,' on January 17, 2025 via Century Media Records, making it their debut to the label! The band is now sharing the ferocious new single from the offering, "The Comet of End Times," which can be found along with a lyric video below.

Vocalist Mateo Tervonen comments, “'Comet of End Times' is where the dynamics we like to work with become the most present, especially within a song itself. It throws you around between different soundscapes, shifting from total death metal worship to Sabbath-grooves while maintaining a unique flow to it that ties everything together and makes it work very well. At a juvenile age of 14-20, Sarcator released their first demo tape, “Visions of Purgatory”, via the American label Redefining Darkness Records in 2019. Just two years later the quadrumvirate got nominated for best rock/metal album for the Swedish music award P3 Guld with their 2020’s self-titled debut release for the same label. After releasing their 2nd album, “Alkahest”, via Black Lion Records in 2022, Sarcator finally got a proper chance to play live, captivating crowds with their intense, blackened live shows.

With their current line-up fully committed to the band despite their young age (all members are between 19 and 25) it was time for them to record their third album, which still features previous guitarist Emil Eriksson. Shortly after signing a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records and heading out on a debut European tour supporting Hellripper and Cloak, Sarcator will be releasing 'Swarming Angels & Flies' on January 17, 2025.

This album marks the most intense, brutal and rawest creation yet for the band. It is a remarkably mature and sophisticated piece of work, from mercurial musicians who are only in their early 20’s, and still at the beginning of their creative journey. Across eight, grotesque and utterly venomous tracks, Sarcator have deftly blended the wide-eyed extremity of their debut album with the inspirational musicality of their second record “Alkahest”, while playing everything with more intensity than ever before. Thy Catafalque Premiere Dark and Dreamy New Album

Like all big things, Thy Catafalque come from small beginnings. Back in the late '90s, Tamás Kátai started the project in his Hungarian hometown as a black metal duo that was never intended to leave the studio. BLAKE SHELTON TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “TEXAS” ON NOVEMBER 15

Country superstar Blake Shelton is set to release his new single, “Texas,” on November 15. The fresh and addictive song captures the classic theme of lost love with a twist and nod to George Strait, who knows best where all the exes go! Pre-save/pre-add/pre-order the song HERE.

Ian Munsick Charts New Territory with 18-City Spring ‘25 ‘Horses are Faster Tour’

Wyoming native Ian Munsick, celebrated by HITS Daily Double and The New Yorker alike for putting the “western back in country,” will chart new territory in the Northeast and beyond with his 18-city  Horses are Faster Tour in spring 2025. Tickets go on-sale 10 AM local time this Friday, Nov. 15 at IanMunsick.com.
 
Encompassing his first headlining shows in Pittsburgh, PA; Philadelphia, PA and more, Munsick will also return to the revered Texas honky tonk, Billy Bob’s Texas, in March before concluding the run at Nashville’s new concert hall, The Pinnacle, on April 17. Each stop will feature a rotating lineup of support including Colby Acuff, Chayce Beckham, Bayker Blankenship, Clay Street Unit, Kashus Culpepper, Hudson Westbrook and Jake Worthington.

US-Argentinian duo AEROLINEA announces debut album 'All We Need', shares 'Nervous' video

Indie pop duo Aerolinea presents their new single 'Nervous', previewing their 'All We Need' album, the debut offering from this Argentinian-American project, which also sees a guest appearance by Failure drummer Kellii Scott. This eight-track record hits all music platforms on November 28.

Aerolinea is made up of Argentinian artist Victoria Real and Eric Weissinger of Atlanta dream-gaze duo I Am a Rocketship - both songwriters, vocalists and multi-instrumentalists. What began in April 2023 with an Instagram message led to a year of file sharing and meet ups in Florida and Argentina. The two met the pandemic thanks to a chance meeting while performing for the NMER Music Festival (organised by No Me Escucho Records) - a spark that planted the seed for what is now Aerolinea.

'Nervous' commences with a simple guitar line over a minimal kick and snare drum, interrupted by a repeated distorted riff. Quiet, thoughtful verses give way to a lush, melodic chorus, with both members of the band joining forces. The song closes with chaotic guitar and echoing, overlapping voices, bringing it to a nervous but satisfying conclusion.

''Nervous' is a different way of describing feeling alone. We need connections, and when you’re missing a connection, you start to doubt yourself, and not feel complete. You worry. The song is more about the subject’s emotions, and you don’t know anything about who they miss," says Eric Weissinger.

Victoria Real adds, "Nervous is the feeling we wanted to express here. Like a hunch that something is out of place. We put music and lyrics to it to evoke that feeling and thereby also evoke instant relief when expressed and channeled in this song".

With passionate tandem lyrics, intertwining guitars and rhythms that sometimes groove and sometimes surprise, Aerolinea crafts a sound designed for romantics and misfits, for late nights and strange places. Earlier, Aerolinea shared their debut single 'What Moves You', a dreamy track that oscillates between minimalistic pensiveness and intense euphoria for a sonic journey that is worth the flight. Its dramatic video was directed by renowned cinematographer Nico Purdía.

Victoria Real honed her musical skills under the tutelage of King Crimson guitar legend Robert Fripp, first as a Guitar Craft student and later performing with the League of Crafty Guitarists. She has released four albums as a solo artist with a fifth album in production. In 2021, she received the “Artist Revelation Rock of the Year” award at the Cordoba Entertainment Awards (Premios CIEyA) and was nominated a “Artist of the Year” and “Rock Artist of the Year” in 2023 and 2024.

Eric Weissinger has released five albums and an EP with I Am a Rocketship. Before forming this duo, he was bassist for Anne Richmond Boston (DB Recs). As a bassist, guitarist and singer in this and other projects, he has opened for numerous notable bands, including The Black Crowes, James, The Wedding Present, Cracker and Portastatic.

Icelandic Prog Metal Newcomers Múr Unleash Music Video for New Single, "Holskefla"

With a sound that defies generic labels and a vision that stretches the limits of creativity, Múr are the latest descendants from Iceland’s volcanic underground. The emerging quintet are forging a new era of dark, atmospheric and boundary shattering metal. “'Heimsslit’ is an Icelandic word for the apocalypse, but the literal translation is 'world's tearing,’ inspiring a vision of the world coming apart at the seams,” says the band. “The lyrical themes have more to do with an acceptance of something vital falling apart within one's own mind rather than being about the physical world ending. The song is accompanied by our first music video, a massive cross-discipline collaboration between local artists."

BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA RE-ISSUES ANNOUNCED INCLUDING THE BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM THE DIRTY BOOGIE ON LIMITED EDITION 180G COLORED VINYL DROPS DECEMBER 13!

The Brian Setzer Orchestra is a swing band formed in 1992 by Stray Cats frontman Brian Setzer. Their debut self titled album was released in 1994, and was followed up in 1996 with Guitar Slinger. In 1998, for their breakout album The Dirty Boogie, the group covered Louis Prima's "Jump, Jive An' Wail", which originally appeared on Prima's 1957 album The Wildest! and found themselves with a runaway hit! The album’s success led to a massive tour which ran from fall of 1998 through the summer of 1999, including a performance at the infamous Woodstock 1999. The Dirty Boogie’s success was capped off with a Grammy win for Brian’s version of “Sleepwalk” for Best Pop Instrumental in 1999. That would just be the first Grammy that Brian would bring home with the Orchestra.

With the success of the recent Guitar Slinger reissue from the Brian Setzer Orchestra we are now excited to announce for the first time on vinyl since 1998, The Dirty Boogie. The Dirty Boogie is the third release from the Brian Setzer Orchestra. As Setzer states about this time, “When the swing revival came, it put me on that wave and it was a great thing for me because it got the sound out there and all of a sudden, I turned around and oh my gosh, everything was just huge.” The live tour set featured several Stray Cats hits including “Rock This Town” which got a big band re-working for The Dirty Boogie, along with many other tracks from the new album which were made for the stage.

Gaerea Release New Video Ahead of US Tour

Gaerea are waking into a new era. The Portuguese masked sensations are no longer strictly a black metal band. With Coma, they've surfaced to the top of extreme metal. Their critically acclaimed new album racked up more than 1 million streams within 24 hours of landing on Spotify. 

"Coma, the quintet's fourth full-length, not only finds them sharpening their craft", FLOOD gushes, "but it also makes a strong claim as 2024's best metal record, regardless of subgenre". 

To lay claim over their new domain, later this month, Gaerea are touring North America with Zeal & Ardor and Zetra. Today, the band are treating the vortex societies in the U.S. and Canada with a tantalizing glimpse of their striking live performance. The new video for "Coma" includes never-before-seen footage from this year's treks to China and Taiwan, though the title track off their new album also shows just how far Gaerea have come.

Though produced by their trusted confident Miguel Tereso, Comabroadens Gaerea's signature sound by taking it in two seemingly opposed directions. The title track is one of the heavier songs on the whole album. Concussive drum fills open the floodgates for a venomous groove that shakes its scales like a dragon. But its tortured screams and piercing melodies reveal a mysterious phantom pain.

"This is the song that explains the whole record, basically", the band's unnamed vocalist told Apple Music. "I was thinking about how to write a song about someone in a coma, but they're still conscious of it. Because if there's no consciousness, there won't be a song. So, this is a bit like waking up in a dark room and seeing the whole word around you, but you can't really figure out if it's reality, if it's memories, if it's your imagination, or just your lost dreams in life. It deals with that anxiety of trying to figure out if you're really here or not, or if this is the afterlife - and whatever the afterlife might look like".

EPICA Share Video For New Single "Arcana" — WATCH

Hidden wisdom, long-lost secrets, and esoteric knowledge. 

With "Arcana," the frontrunners of symphonic metal EPICA herald a new chapter in their two-decade-long band history.

This is the band's first new release since their chart-topping album Omega and their collaboration EP The Alchemy Project. It offers a glimpse into the band's future music, coming in 2025.

"'Arcana' guides you through the universal stages of spiritual evolution in life. It leads the way to a higher consciousness and spiritual self-awareness," the band comments. "Writing this song was a spontaneous effort, so it came together quickly, which felt so natural that it wrote itself.
