CARLY PEARCE EXTENDS LONGTERM PUBLISHING PARTNERSHIP WITH BMG

CMA, ACM and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Carly Pearce has extended her longtime publishing partnership with BMG in association with Altadena, the music company founded by Carly‘s late producer and collaborator, busbee and LEO33’s Daniel Lee. Celebrating a decade with her publishing home, Pearce continues to be “one of the most exciting voices in contemporary country music” with her “songwriting [that] is as sharp as ever” (Associated Press).

Said Pearce, “BMG has been a part of my story from the very beginning of my career. They have supported me the whole way, and I couldn’t be happier to continue my journey with them!”

Chris Oglesby, BMG Nashville’s VP, Publishing, said, “Carly’s strength, determination and writing skills are as fierce as her work ethic. We are honored to continue this journey with her and Altadena.”

Connecting with audiences across the globe, the multi-Platinum Country star kickstarted her headlining hummingbird world tour this October in support of her latest album hummingbird, which marks Pearce’s debut as a co-producer and includes the Grammy-nominated “we don’t fight anymore” featuring Chris Stapleton and blazing current radio single “truck on fire.” Receiving stunning critical acclaim, The New York Times praised the “country star with a flair for good, old fashioned craftsmanship,” while the Tennessean boasts that “Carly Pearce's fourth studio album, hummingbird, presents her best and ‘most authentic’ self via integrity-driven hard work that feeds her soul.”

Yesterday, Carly unveiled the fiery official music video for her rising single “truck on fire” that The New York Times hailed a “swinging country revenge song.” Watch the music video below, which transports the viewer to a small town and sees Carly live out a classic revenge fantasy, taking matters into her own hands by torching the beloved truck of a cheating ex. Directed by Carly’s longtime collaborator Alexa Campbell, “truck on fire” is Carly’s first official music video to be released since she won the CMT Award for Collaborative Video of the Year in April for her GRAMMY-nominated single “we don’t fight anymore” featuring Chris Stapleton.

On the heels of her four Number One singles at country radio, the Grand Ole Opry member shows no signs of slowing down and continues to resonate with her honest lyrics and timeless musicality.

Fiercely rooted in the classics, the girl who left her Kentucky home and high school at 16 to take a job at Dollywood has grown into a woman who embraces the genre’s forward progression. GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter Carly Pearce lit a fire with her debut album Every Little Thing and the PLATINUM-certified history-making title track, and she hasn’t slowed down since. With the praised release of her highly anticipated fourth album, hummingbird (June 7, Big Machine Records), Pearce continues to resonate with her honest lyrics and timeless musicality. The critically acclaimed album includes lead single “we don’t fight anymore” (featuring Chris Stapleton), which earned Pearce her second GRAMMY® nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and fifth Top 5 Country Radio hit, as well as the blazing single “truck on fire” which Pearce debuted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Pearce is currently on her headlining hummingbird world tour where she’ll connect with fans across the globe following a run of 45 sold-out shows as direct support on Tim McGraw’s Standing Room Only Tour. Pearce, now a Grand Ole Opry and Kentucky Music Hall of Fame member, has come a long way from the pain she felt writing her critically acclaimed and commercially lauded third studio album 29 which includes Country Radio chart toppers “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde and PLATINUM-certified “What He Didn’t Do.” For the PLATINUM-certified “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” Pearce picked up her second consecutive ACM Music Event of the Year in 2022 and marked the third duet between two solo women to top Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The song also took home the 2022 CMA Musical Event of the Year and won a GRAMMY® Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, marking Pearce’s first and making history as the first female pairing to win in the category. In addition, Pearce’s 3x PLATINUM-certified “I Hope You’re Happy Now" with Lee Brice won both the 2020 CMA Awards Musical Event and 2021 ACM Awards Music Event, plus ACM Single of the Year. Arcade Assembly feat. Elias Soriano and Cris Hodges Release Debut Single "Nothing's Real"

Arcade Assembly, featuring Elias Soriano (Nonpoint) and Cris Hodges (Grey Daze), are thrilled to announce the release of their debut single, "Nothing's Real," through 361 Degrees Records.

“Nothing’s Real” explores themes of existential doubt, personal fears, and the disorienting reality of living in a chaotic world. But it does so with a compelling mix of vulnerability and strength, with Soriano’s gravelly, commanding delivery and Hodges’ soaring, emotionally charged vocals creating a sonic landscape that’s both haunting and uplifting. It’s the kind of track that feels equally at home on a rock stage or echoing through the vast, pulsing arenas of a festival like EDC or Tomorrowland.

In a world where boundaries between genres blur and evolve, collaborations between rock’s powerhouses and rising stars often spark the next wave of musical innovation. Among these groundbreaking partnerships is the alliance between Elias Soriano, frontman of Nonpoint, and Cris Hodges, vocalist of Grey Daze and solo artist making waves in the pop, EDM, and rock arenas. Their recent collaboration is setting the stage for something electrifying, attracting attention from rock purists and the new generation of synth-driven, hybrid rock fans.

Elias Soriano has long been a staple in the rock world. With over two decades of hard-hitting anthems and unforgettable performances, his voice has become synonymous with intensity, resilience, and raw emotion. As the face of Nonpoint, Soriano's relentless energy and captivating lyrics have been the driving force behind a legacy of records that speak directly to themes of struggle, survival, and personal triumph. But Soriano isn’t confined to the past—he's pushing forward, exploring new sonic territories, and embracing the future of music in ways even his biggest fans might not expect.

Enter Cris Hodges, a versatile force emerging from the intersection of rock, pop, and EDM. As the touring vocalist for Grey Daze and a solo artist blending infectious melodies with raw emotional depth, Hodges brings a modern twist to the traditional rock sound. His ability to cross genres and captivate audiences across different musical landscapes has earned him critical acclaim, and it’s this adaptability that makes his collaboration with Soriano not just intriguing, but inevitable.

Their first release together, "Nothing’s Real," is more than just a track—it’s a statement. The song’s origin story reads like the start of a movement, a chance encounter between two artists with mutual respect for each other’s work. “I grew up listening to Nonpoint,” Hodges reflects, “and I always admired the fire Elias brought to his music. When we connected through a business venture, I had just written a song that needed that fire. It felt like it was meant for his voice."

Soriano didn’t hesitate. “Cris has this easygoing, yet driven energy. He brought me into the project, and when I heard the song, I was hooked. It’s got everything—emotional grit, a killer hook, and a beat that hits you hard. The chemistry was instant, and before we knew it, industry folks around us were buzzing, urging us to release it.”

There’s a buzz around the duo—one that’s growing louder with every listen. The blend of Soriano’s rock roots and Hodges’ genre-defying style has caught the attention of industry heavyweights and fans alike. Early reviews are glowing, with many already anticipating remixes in the EDM world, and whispers of future releases are met with eager anticipation. And while the duo remains humble about the future, the energy surrounding "Nothing's Real" suggests this is only the beginning of a creative partnership destined to shake things up.

The production team behind the track further cements its credibility. With contributions from Filter guitarist Zack Munowitz, Moonspell drummer Hugo Ribeiro, and EDM producer Kustom Mike Polk, "Nothing's Real" is a masterclass in blending rock’s raw power with the expansive, polished production typically found in pop and electronic music. To top it all off, the track was mixed by Chris Collier—whose work with Korn, Nonpoint, and other metal powerhouses speaks to his ability to elevate a song to its full potential.

Looking forward, Soriano and Hodges are determined to keep pushing the envelope. They’re not just working together—they’re building something bigger. As they assemble a collective of like-minded creatives, their vision for the future is clear: to create music that transcends genre limitations, bringing their unique blend of rock, EDM, and pop to stages and festivals across the globe. “We’re excited to collaborate with artists who want to step outside of their usual creative worlds,” Soriano says. “There are no rules here, and that’s what makes this so inspiring.”

As the world waits for what’s next, one thing is certain: Elias Soriano and Cris Hodges are not just a collaboration to watch—they are pioneers leading the charge in the evolution of modern rock music, where genre-defying sounds meet timeless energy and emotion.

The Black Metal Bus sightseeing with Anders Odden is back!

Join us on a tour of some of the places that marked the beginning of the legend of Norwegian black metal. Guide: Anders Odden (Cadaver, Celtic Frost, Order). The myths about the early history of Norwegian black metal are many. Countless documentaries, films, and books have tried to find answers to what happened in Norway in the early ‘90s. Being able to visit the places where these events took place, with someone who was there, makes it a personal journey.

Through his record store, Helvete, and his band, Mayhem, Øystein Aarseth, aka Euronymous, became a key figure in the scene. He both inspired and promoted all the early bands in the Norwegian metal scene, such as Emperor, Darkthrone, Immortal, Burzum, and others. He was later killed by Varg Vikernes, aka Greven, the notorious leader of Burzum, in his apartment on August 10, 1993, after a year of turmoil in the growing underground scene in Oslo and Bergen.

This date marked the end of an era. The small scene, which had been unknown to the public until then, became infamous in the tabloid media and made headlines far beyond Norway.

Anders Odden formed his first black metal band, Slaught, in 1986 after attending a Mayhem rehearsal at the age of 14. He was one of the pioneers of the underground scene, which involved tape trading, organizing concerts, and creating his own form of extreme metal.

He formed Cadaver in 1988 and released the first Norwegian death metal album on Earache Records in 1990. Cadaver played concerts with Darkthrone, Mayhem, Old Funeral, and many other bands that would later become important in the early Norwegian black metal scene. This excursion will feature exclusive anecdotes and personal memories of the early days of the community from someone who experienced it firsthand.

San Francisco's AURSJOEN offers haunting sonic alchemy on 'For Want Of'. William Faith-produced debut 'Strand' EP is out on November 15

San Francisco artist AURSJOEN presents the single 'For Want Of', the second taste of her debut 'Strand' EP (out November 15 via Stratis Capta Records), offering a glimpse into her versatility as a vocalist and musician while keeping with the ethereal cinematics found in her debut single 'Nytår'. Both of these haunted beauties are sensual and mystical, nodding to her Scandinavian ancestry.

This reverie-infused music is lush, layered and sweepingly cinematic. Dark and light in equal measure, this dynamic slice of ethereal gothica complemented by a haunting video, created by filmmaker David Kruschke.

AURSJOEN is the project of Ria Aursjoen, who is vocalist and keyboardist for critically acclaimed post-punk outfit Octavian Winters, who released their debut EP 'The Line or Curve' in 2023, followed by their 2024 'Nebula / Velveteen' single with electronic-industrial legend Mark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated). A classically-trained singer and multi-instrumentalist, her musical past is steeped in genres ranging from Celtic and Nordic folk to darkwave and progressive metal.

Beginning from a delicate piano motif, 'For Want Of' builds to a symphonic crescendo. Vocal lines are layered as the song unfolds, reminiscent of how we can hold different and sometimes opposite thoughts at the same time in our heads. While this track showcases her ethereal sensibilities, it also makes clear the true scope of Ria Aursjoen’s voice.

"'For Want Of' was written several years ago. I had just moved into an empty apartment with a baby, a toddler, a bag of clothes and a cooking pot. It was surreal -- one of the most difficult transitions in my life and I had layers of feelings that should have been irreconcilable, even though they existed together. On one hand, I felt empty desolation, and yet at the same time a fiery fullness that felt like a wild animal trying to break out of my heart. I tried to express these in the song as the contrast in vocal delivery as well as in the references to winter/ice and fire – references that show up as part of my lyrical lexicon in other songs as well. Instead of switching off from one to another, I layered them so that you hear them running together, to mirror how it felt internally," says Ria Aursjoen

"What I really love is to create music that is more than the sum of its parts, where the interplay (either harmonically or rhythmically) between different motifs gives birth to something extra, something “meta” that you can’t predict or engineer. I think those two states of feeling did that in my life too… a different self,  a new era was born for me out of that ice and fire."

AURSJOEN's debut 'Strand' EP was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by William Faith (The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith and the Muse, Mephisto Waltz, Christian Death) at 13 Studio in Chicago, Aursjoen is joined by Octavian Winters bandmate Stephan Bryan Salit, who lends his creative flourish to the mix, contributing dynamic and atmospheric guitars on two songs. The performances and sweeping arrangements recall Faith’s work with Faith and the Muse, although Ria Aursjoen’s voice and composition are distinctly recognizable as something uniquely her own.

Ria Aursjoen shares, "Regarding the video, initially I had storyboarded another concept, and David Kruschke and I were working on the locations. But Octavian Winters went on tour, and I was unavailable to shoot the video until we were too close to the release date to make it work. The day after I got home from tour, David and I went out to the coast near San Francisco and shot the video as we felt it. This turned out to be a great decision because I was so exhausted from the tour and it was so hot (we filmed during the October heat wave) that I didn’t have the time or energy to overthink any of it -- and what we ended up capturing was a much more untethered performance that felt very true to myself."

As someone who has synesthesia, a rare neurodiverse condition in which senses overlap, Aursjoen experiences sound as visual structures, colours and textures. As a child, she wrote her musical ideas down in a unique system of notation she created, based around her visual perceptions of music.

Aside from music, Ria Aursjoen is a published writer and visual artist, having won two national art competitions by the age of eight and illustrated a children’s book. She creates much of Octavian Winters’ artwork and currently works with inks and parchment velum to create palimpsest-style art.

While the 'For Want Of' single will be officially released everywhere on October 21, it is available exclusively via Bandcamp this week. The 'Nytår' single can also be found there and the 'Strand' EP (out November 15) is also available for pre-order.

Hillhaven Drop "Temple + Tomb" Video

HILLHAVEN have unleashed their sixth single "Temple & Tomb." Watch the video below

It follows the buzzy prior singles "Damned to Dream," "The God You Think You Are," "GAPS," "SYCOPHANTS," and "LIAR."

"'Temple & Tomb' is the chronicling of my own intrusive thoughts," says singer Chris Kelly. "Anxiety, depression, dysmorphia, the struggle for self-worth, pretty much all the bad shit makes an appearance here. It's angry and painful, but as a result, incredibly cathartic. The song was written and recorded in isolation, which really comes through on a visceral level, as I think most of us would attest that our worst thoughts often get louder when we're alone. Corny as it is to say, I very much hope people are able to connect to this song and find their own catharsis. If nothing else, it's confirmation that you're not alone."

The Hillhaven lineup is comprised of  the aforementioned Kelly (Alustrium, ex-Galactic Empire, and who is rumored to play for Babymetal's band) on vocals, as well as From Ashes to New's Maty Madiro on drums; Ricky Armellino on guitars; live From Ashes to New member Jimmy Bennett on guitars; and bassist Jaime GoWell.

There is even more to come from Hillhaven so watch this space..

Love Ghost x SKOLD release treacherous 'Ski Mask' single, second taste of debut album

"This sonic rollercoaster effortlessly transitions between heavy, driving riffs and melodic, catchy choruses. Loaded with raw energy, the grunge influence is palpable with industrial rhythms and gothic elements provide an invigorating counterpoint – an auditory adventure worth taking" ~ Spill Magazine

Alt-rock maverick Love Ghost and industrial legend Tim Skold (SKOLD, Shotgun Messiah, KMFDM, Marilyn Manson, Motionless in White) present 'Ski Mask', previewing their debut 'Love Ghost x SKOLD' album, out November 22 via iconic US label Metropolis Records

Mixing fire with brimstone, these two innovative artists have joined forces, forging the raw energy of grunge with the driving rhythms of industrial rock, embellished with gothic hues. But there is a darker understory here despite the song's pop sensibilities. Finnegan Bell shares, “'Ski Mask' has a more crestfallen vibe akin to what a broken society feels like. The song is influenced by how an over-medicated youth can find it hard to manage the ups and downs of life as an adult."

'Ski Mask' follows the latest single ‘Nightshade and Cocaine’, inspired by altered states of mind and witchcraft, and their 2023 debut offering 'Payback', which set the tone for the dark rock n’ roll soundscape of this album.

"This second single 'Ski Mask' explores a darker side of our creativity, touching on ups and downs not usually explored in such a catchy almost pop format," says Tim Skold.

Finnegan adds, “This is a song that takes you on an emotional journey whilst combining multiple genres and subjects. The lyrics deal with my personal relationship with pharmaceuticals and how I feel that my generation was over-medicated. It’s about altered brain chemistry and how it leads you to some very dark places which is why the song is told through the perspective of a heist. Hence the title 'Ski Mask'. These songs are literally musical storytelling."

Apart from releasing music under the SKOLD moniker and as half of the duo Not My God (with Nero Bellum), Swedish musician and record producer Tim Skold is perhaps best known for his work with KMFDM, Shotgun Messiah, Marilyn Manson, and Motionless in White.  In addition to being a full-fledged band member of Marilyn Manson for several world tours, Skold produced their #1 Billboard US charting album 'The Golden Age of Grotesque', cover versions of 'Tainted Love', 'Personal Jesus' and the controversial album 'Eat Me, Drink Me'. He later co-produced two Motionless in White albums. As SKOLD, he has released several albums and toured extensively with Front Line Assembly and Motionless in White, among others.

Love Ghost is an enigmatic Los Angeles-based indie rock band, known for their distinctive blend of grunge, alternative rock and post-punk, informed by the Seattle tradition as much as Soundcloud-era fearlessness. Founded by vocalist-guitarist Finnegan Bell, the band quickly garnered attention for their mature lyrics, a multitude of collaborations and raw, energetic sound. They have toured extensively all over the world and have earned plaudits from such publications as Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, American Songwriter and New Noise.

'Ski Mask' and 'Nightshade and Cocaine' are now available everywhere digitally, including Bandcamp, where the full 'Love Ghost x SKOLD' album can also be pre-ordered.

Sumerian Records Announce 'American Psycho' Comic Series Soundtrack Out October 25

Sumerian Records have today announced the upcoming full release of the 'American Psycho' Comic Series Soundtrack as well as the hardback graphic novel out on Friday, October 25. The soundtrack is available for pre-order now at the link HERE, and vinyl will be available for purchase at the Sumerian Records Merch Store on release day.

In addition to today's announcement, charismatic chanteuse Diamante steps into the spotlight as part of the remarkable soundtrack lineup with her electrifying cover of the iconic Pat Benatar hit "Love Is A Battlefield". Stream the track HERE and watch the official video  below.

When asked about the cover, Diamante shared:

Since I can remember, I have always been a huge fan of songs from the 80s, especially of the female powerhouse vocalists of that time. In particular, Pat Benatar has always been a hero of mine, and I love nothing more than a good challenge. So for me, recording this version of "Love Is a Battlefield" was a lifelong dream come true.

Speaking about the soundtrack, President of Sumerian Comics, Nathan Yocum, also commented:

"We are beyond excited to present this soundtrack as a true celebration of music and storytelling, brought together by some of the most talented and dynamic artists in the industry today. This project is a testament to the power of collaboration, and we can’t wait for fans to experience how these songs complement the world of American Psycho in a bold and electrifying way. It’s more than just a soundtrack—it’s a journey into the dark and thrilling atmosphere that this series embodies."

The 'American Psycho' comic book series by Sumerian Comics is a bold reimagining of Patrick Bateman’s notorious saga. The five-issue series delves into a dual storyline format; one tracing the chilling exploits of Bateman, and the other introducing a contemporary narrative featuring Charlene Carruthers—a social media-savvy millennial whose descent into violence mirrors the chilling escalation of her predecessor. This innovative take reinterprets the iconic tale with a story written by Michael Calero (Quested), vivid artwork by Piotr Kowalski (The Witcher, Bloodborne, Sex) and striking colors by Brad Simpson (Kong of Skull Island, Stray Dogs, Blade Runner Origins).

Today's release joins previously released tracks from the likes of Gvllow featuring Mothica who breathed new life into Billy Idol's "Eyes Without A Face", Charlotte Sands who dropped a massive cover of AFI's smash-hit "Miss Murder"Royal & The Serpent who tackled Leadbelly classic "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", Carpenter Brut feat. Kristoffer Rygg who also released a cover of Billy Idol's "Eyes Without A Face", Ice Nine Kills feat. Reel Big Fish, who gave the Katrina and The Waves smash hit, "Walking On Sunshine" the ska punk treatment, Puscifer, who recorded a brand new, original single, "The Algorithm" for the comic book series, Unlike Pluto who covered Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams", Perturbator, who covered "Dangerous" by Depeche Mode and Ramsey, who covered Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night". Between them, the previously released tracks have racked up over 6.1 million streams with current sales for the comic book series topping 80,000 units.

Prior to today, Diamante announced her signing with Sumerian Records and dropped the single "All For The Glory" along with the Lucha Libre-inspired music video. Listen to the track HERE and watch the video HERE. Fans also have their chance to see her captivating live show on the Death Or Glory North American Tour with labelmates Palaye Royale, Weathers, and I See Stars, as well as on Shiprocked 2025 in January. Ocean Grove Drop "Last Dance" Video

A stirring and textural sonic wonderland, the brand new single "LAST DANCE" from Melbourne Oddworld collective Ocean Grove takes an emotive and compelling turn ahead of the release of their upcoming new album ODDWORLD, due out on November 22 via ODDWORLD Records in Australia and SharpTone Records for the rest of the world.

Watch the video below.

Following on from the nu-metal ferocity of earlier singles "F'LY AWAY" and "MY DISASTER," and the sleek yet propulsive melodics of "RAINDROP," "LAST DANCE" is a raw and riveting anthem, seamlessly balancing the vocal stylings of Dale Tanner and Twiggy Hunter alongside an emphatic performance from drummer and producer Sam Bassal.

"We knew this song was going to be a really important opportunity for storytelling," shares Tanner. "We felt the impact of how powerful the music was before any lyrics were written and this warranted an equally powerful motif. We all sat down in the bunkbeds of the farmhouse we had converted into a home studio, with a setting sun and determination to not leave the room until we had an arrangement of words proportionately epic. 'LAST DANCE' emerged as an apocalyptic symphony of sorts. It grapples with this idea of facing the death moment, whether that be of the planet or a loved one, and how we can be presented with one last opportunity for a loving embrace, and a conscious presence in that confronting reality. It's the anthem for any listener to find solace and deeper meaning in the inevitable impermanence of everything."

A collection of songs that captures the band's sonic roots as well as their fierce evolution over the years, ODDWORLD emerges instantly as the definitive Ocean Grove record; one that pays homage to the delectable diversity of 2017's The Rhapsody Tapes while also spanning their entire catalogue and steering into exciting uncharted territory. Produced by Ocean Grove's own Sam Bassal along with creative and performance contributions from studio members Luke Holmes and Running Touch, ODDWORLD is exactly as its title suggests: beautifully chaotic, sonically kaleidoscopic and wholeheartedly one-of-a-kind.

Ocean Grove are the enigma of the heavy music landscape, blending elements of nu metal, hardcore and alternative rock to create a sound that is uniquely their own i.e. Oddworld Music. An eclectic trio of misfits spawning from Melbourne, Australia, Ocean Grove recently announced their signing to SharpTone Records and the launch of their own label, and have risen to prominence in recent years with their dynamic and genre-defying approach to music. Wearing their DIY work ethic on their sleeve, the band have self-produced every release to date, including the upcoming 2024 studio album ODDWORLD.

From their 2017 debut album The Rhapsody Tapes, which debuted at #5 on the ARIA charts, through to their sophomore 2020 release Flip Phone Fantasy and 2022's Up In The Air Forever, both also landing in the ARIA Charts Top 10, Ocean Grove have cultivated resounding acclaim for their groundbreaking craftsmanship and bold experimentation. And since their inception, the group have captivated audiences with their high-energy performances, visually striking aesthetics and infectious melodies, earning them a devoted legion of followers around the globe. Their unforgettable live show has found them in hot demand with tours alongside Limp Bizkit, August Burns Red, Crossfaith, and Don Broco, and appearances at the likes of Download Festival Australia, Good Things Festival and UNIFY Gathering.

Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings & James Taylor Come Together for "Concert for Carolina" Presented by Explore Asheville

Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings and James Taylor will headline “Concert for Carolina,” a special benefit show presented by Explore Asheville and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, on Saturday, October 26 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Tar Heel State is a profoundly special place for all four artists, as it is where Combs, Church and Taylor grew up and first discovered their musical interests, and where Strings has performed many, many times over his career and holds an extra special place in his heart. The event will be hosted by ESPN’s Marty Smith and Barstool Sports’ Caleb Pressley and will feature additional artists still to be announced.

As news of the tremendous devastation caused by Hurricane Helene first began over the weekend, the group mobilized and started outreach to put together an event to raise critical funds for the relief efforts. The call to David Tepper—owner of the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC and Bank of America Stadium—and his wife Nicole Tepper was met with overwhelming generosity and decisive action. Without hesitation, the Teppers offered Bank of America Stadium as a venue and everyone united to make the benefit concert a reality as swiftly as possible.

Tickets for the show will go on-sale this Thursday, October 10 at 10 a.m. ET. Full details can be found at www.concertforcarolina.com.

All proceeds from the event, including sponsorships, will be split 50/50 between Combs and Church’s Chief Cares Foundation to administer to organizations of their choosing in support of relief efforts across the Carolinas and the Southeast.

Combs’ portion will be distributed between Samaritan’s PurseManna Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, as well as one more organization still to be announced.

Church’s Chief Cares is focused on helping established charities and organizations that are well managed, organized and can expedite aid directly to the families affected by Hurricane Helene.

For those unable to attend the concert but still looking to support, donations can be made now to The North Carolina Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund or to various organizations listed at www.concertforcarolina.com.

“Concert for Carolina” is made possible due to the support and generosity of David and Nicole Tepper and Tepper Sports & Entertainment, Explore Asheville, T-Mobile, Atrium Health, Jack Daniel’s, Whataburger, Miller Lite and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.

Born outside of Charlotte and raised in Asheville, Combs is a proud North Carolinian. Growing up singing at school, it wasn’t until he attended Boone’s Appalachian State University that Combs first performed his own songs at a beloved local bar, leading him to his now historic country music career. Since moving to Nashville in 2014, Combs continually returns to North Carolina for landmark moments including his first-ever headline stadium show at Appalachian State’s Kidd Brewer Stadium in 2021 as well as sold-out, back-to-back nights at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium last summer.

Church, a native of Granite Falls, also began his musical journey in Western North Carolina, playing gigs locally throughout high school and into his time at Appalachian State University before chasing his dream to Nashville. He continues to split time between Tennessee and North Carolina with his family, even returning to the Appalachian Mountains to record his most recent project, the three-part Heart & Soul, in Banner Elk. In 2016, he was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and in 2022, he was awarded the North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor. Most recently, he released the song “Darkest Hour” this past Friday in response to the recent devastation, with all publishing royalties being donated.

Although he is a Michigan native, Strings’ life and career has been deeply impacted by the state of North Carolina both personally and professionally, as it is home to some of his most passionate and supportive fans. Over the past few years, Strings has performed at major venues across the state including an upcoming six-night run at Asheville’s ExploreAsheville.com Arena this winter.

Singer-songwriter Taylor moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina with his family when he was just three years old. Taylor’s father served as the Dean of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill medical school from 1964 to 1971. Taylor’s childhood home was on Morgan Creek Road in Chapel Hill-Carrboro. In April 2003, a bridge over Morgan Creek was dedicated to the musician, and renamed the James Taylor Bridge. Taylor’s childhood experiences in North Carolina influenced many of his most popular songs including “Copperline” as well as the beloved “Carolina in My Mind.” As a recording and touring artist, Taylor has touched people with his warm baritone voice and distinctive style of guitar-playing for more than 50 years.  Over the course of his celebrated career, he has sold more than 100 million albums, has won multiple GRAMMY Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2009.

Permafrost's debut album 'The Light Coming Through'

“If you are a fan of the sinister menace of Interpol, the jagged guitar lines of Gang Of Four or the grandiose gloom of The Cure, here is a band which is a mix of all three but has its own unique post-punk aesthetic – Permafrost.”
XS NOIZE

“Brooding and upbeat, here we have a classically post-punk vibe with compositions still centred on starkly compelling melodies.”
AMPLIFY MUSIC

“With a powerful melody and plenty of reverb and appealing synth, there is still a charming quality here amidst this ominous hymn – impressive.”
SPILL MAGAZINE

More than two years after the release of ‘Come Back To Surprise’, the Nordic-British post-punk quartet Permafrost returned with a new single, Wrong Heart, on 4th July. This release kicked off the lead up to their new album, ‘The Light Coming Through’, set to unveil in October this year. In addition to the lead track, Mental Overdrive (aka Per Martinsen) remixed the single, which was also available on 4th July. They then followed up with another new single on 16th August, aptly named ‘Ultimo August’, which debuted at #2 on the Deutsche Alternative Chart.

Formed originally in Molde, Norway in 1982 by school friends Frode Heggdal Larsen and Kåre Steinsbu, Permafrost has undergone numerous transformations over the years. Now joined by fellow Norwegian Robert Heggdal and Daryl Bamonte from the UK (who worked very closely with Depeche Mode and The Cure for several years), they continue to deliver the authentic post-punk sound of the early '80s. While many contemporary musicians attempt to replicate this era, Permafrost have lived it. Their latest single, ‘Wrong Heart’, has also evolved over time, ultimately resulting in a dark, bass-driven post-punk track that transports listeners back to the shadowy, goth-filled clubs of the '80s.

Alongside the single, they have released the music video for ‘Wrong Heart’. In a wholesome contrast to the song’s dark sound and nature, the video follows four young girls as they set out to create a music video. Of the video they said “In another dimension Permafrost could be a girl band. In this reality they are planning to create a music video. They have to drag their equipment into the forest to get to the preferred spot, making it into a road movie with a lot of obstacles on the way - like grazing sheep and deer in the blossoming Norwegian nature. When they finally arrive at the spot and want to start playing, the song finishes. All that work for nothing.”

Spread across Trondheim, Oslo and Margate, Permafrost's creative process is a challenge which the band have had to overcome. During the pandemic, they held weekly video meetings to plan new songs and other band- related issues, leveraging improved long-distance collaboration technology to maintain momentum. The songwriting process typically begins with one member suggesting an idea, which bassist Robert (Bob Frost) then develops in Logic Pro, programming drums and other elements. Singer Kåre creates a melody to match, and lyrics are selected from a collective vault they have accumulated over the years. The song is refined through a collaborative process, passing back and forth between all four members until everyone is satisfied.

Utilising their refined songwriting process, Permafrost meticulously crafted their forthcoming album, ‘The Light Coming Through’. Describing their sound as “Optimistic Melancholy” the album aims to offer inspiration and escapism during challenging times. Infusing politically charged lyrics with dark, synth-infused post-punk instrumentation, Permafrost employs metaphors to convey their message effectively.

Permafrost has built an impressive discography over the years. They debuted with the 'Godtment' EP in 1983, released on a limited edition of 50 numbered cassettes. In 2019, they followed up with the 'Permafrost' EP

on vinyl, later making it available digitally in 2021. Throughout 2021, the band dropped three critically acclaimed singles. ‘Femme Fatale’ and ‘Closed Eyes’ both achieved remarkable success, reaching #1 on the Indie Disko Top40 chart, with the latter maintaining the top spot for six consecutive weeks. These singles also performed well on the Deutsche Alternative and Native25 charts, while earning placements on influential playlists such as Apple Music’s ‘New in Rock’. The third single, ‘Restore Us’, continued their streak of success by hitting #1 on the Indie Disko Top40 and the Native25 chart.

The Light Coming Through’ will be released on 11th October, on digital and vinyl.

Eric Church Forever Helps Home State w/ “Darkest Hour”

To provide immediate relief following the devastation of Hurricane Helene while also providing ongoing funds to support a more resilient future for North Carolina, Eric Church announces he is signing over all of his publishing royalties for his new song to the people of North Carolina. The song, Church’s first new solo release in over three years, is titled “Darkest Hour” and is now available everywhere. Listen Below.

“From Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, Upstate South Carolina, parts of Georgia and even Florida which took a direct hit, there are so many places that were impacted. Specifically in the area that I'm from, the mountains of Western North Carolina were devastated. There are places that are just biblically gone. These are our family members, they're our friends, they're our neighbors – and they're in dire need of help,” reflects Church. “And I've been in the studio for a while, trying some different things and exploring creativity. I had this song that I'd written, and the line that struck me in light of the recent devastation was ‘I'll come running,’ because there are a lot of people out there right now who are in their darkest hour and they need people to come running. We were going to wait to release music until next year, but it just didn't feel right to wait with this song. Sometimes you give songs their moment and sometimes they find their own moment.”

“This song, ‘Darkest Hour,’ was the best way I could think to try to help. We've been helping with boots on the ground efforts, but this is something that will live beyond just the immediate recovery. This is not a quick thing to fix, so hopefully ‘Darkest Hour’ will be able to contribute to that for a long time to come. This song goes to my home, North Carolina, now and forever.”

He continues, “‘Darkest Hour’ is a song dedicated to the unsung heroes, the people who show up when the world's falling apart. This is for the folks who show up in the hardest times, offering a hand when it's most needed, and standing tall when others can't. Even in your darkest hour, they come running. When the night's at its blackest, this is for those who are holding the light, guiding the lost and pulling us through. The message of the song specifically in this time is about Hurricane Helene and the people that need help, but in a broader view, it's about any challenging times that we have in our life, which we'll all have. And it's always important to know that in your darkest hour, there are people that will come running, there are people that will help. And I think it's also important to be one of the people that go running when other people need help.”

In addition to his efforts in his home state, Church’s Chief Cares will be assisting not only in North Carolina, but in all states and communities affected from Appalachia to the Gulf.

Visionary Songwriter Terri Jo Box Re-Signs with Jonas Group Publishing

Texas-born songwriter Terri Jo Box has re-signed her deal with Jonas Group Publishing (JGP). As the first writer signed to JGP in 2020, Box has gone on to have songs recorded by some of the most notable and distinguished voices in country music, including Cody Johnson on “God Bless The Boy (Cori’s Song)” and Lainey Wilson with “Those Boots (Deddy’s Song)” and “Hillbilly Hippie.” Both songs appeared on Wilson’s Bell Bottom Country album, which won a Grammy for Best Country Album and a CMA and ACM Award for Album of the Year. It is only the ninth album to complete country music’s “triple crown” by winning all three of these awards.

In addition to her JGP cuts, she’s enjoyed success with Ashley McBryde’s “American Scandal” and “Bible and a .44,” which has also been recorded by Eric Church, Trisha Yearwood and others. Additionally, her song, “Dear Old Sun,” written with Miranda Lambert and Gwen Sebastian, was featured on Lambert’s Weight Of These Wings album which won the 2017 ACM Award for Album of the Year.

“Terri Jo has a deep understanding of what makes country music country,” said JGP President Leslie T. DiPiero. “She is a visible thread between new and established artists and writers. Her approach to songwriting and encouragement of all songwriters enriches our creative community.”

Named to the 2023 Class of Up-and-Coming Songwriters by the Association of Independent Music Publishers, Box has also had her songs recorded by award-winning and genre staples, including Patty Loveless, Joe Nichols, Gary LeVox, Gary Chapman, Wade Hayes, Chely Wright, Bryan Martin, Annie Bosko and more.

“Having Leslie DiPiero on my side is such a gift,” said Box. “Leslie is a songwriter’s best friend; she will fight, crawl, scrap, cheer, celebrate, and work tirelessly to get her writers across the line to win. She, Emily Peacock and the entire team are Music Row royalty, and I am so grateful to call them ‘my team.’”

“Working with Kevin Jonas Sr. has been an honor and growing experience for me,” Box said.  “To have the wisdom AND kindness of somebody who has been so immersed in all aspects of the industry has been invaluable. He is such a lover of songs. Kevin, Denise Jonas, and all ‘the boys’ are such a beautiful, epic, family love story.”

“I heard something so unique in Terri Jo, that I signed her to a publishing deal even before JGP was established,” said JGE Founder and Chairman Kevin Jonas Sr. “She writes from a different viewpoint from most of us, but she speaks to all of us, and that’s a special gift.”

Born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, singer-songwriter Terri Jo Box has spent the last 25 years as a forerunner in the flourishing Nashville music scene. Growing up writing poetry, singing in church, and being inspired by country greats like George Strait, Wanda Jackson, Merle Haggard and Lee Ann Womack, it wasn’t until college that Box discovered her true passion for songwriting. She moved to Nashville and immersed herself in writer’s rounds and rooms while working in artist management before signing with Ray Hamilton’s MERF Music Group. In 2020, she became the flagship writer signed to Jonas Group Publishing, a division of Jonas Group Entertainment. Honoring her humble beginnings and commitment to helping develop the next class of Nashville talent, Box created the popular Music Row Freakshow writer’s round in 2014, which she hosts twice weekly in between her busy schedule.

The Native Howl is a genre-defying quartet hailing from Leonard, Michigan, USA. Their fast-tempo music they’ve coined as “Thrash Grass” combines the aggression and intensity of thrash metal with the precision and melodicism of bluegrass. The band was born from a musical experiment that defied all expectations by blending elements of folk, bluegrass, rock, and metal, resulting in a sound entirely their own. With a dash of outlaw spirit and a touch of the wilderness, their music transports listeners to a sonic landscape where the traditional meets the contemporary. From foot-stomping bluegrass jams to lightning-fast metal-esque banjo picking, their tracks are a musical thrill ride that keeps the listener guessing with each note. Their lyrics often explore the dark sides of the human condition, nature, and the trials of life, creating a deep and personal connection with their audience.
