THE VELDT announces East Coast tour with RINGO DEATHSTARR in support of 'Illuminated 1989' album, reveals live video of unreleased track

U.S. shoegaze legends The Veldt announce their East Coast tour with Ringo Deathstarr in support of their 'Illuminated 1989' album, released via Portland's Little Cloud Records and North Carolina's 5BC Records. They also share a live video for the yet-unreleased song 'Joi' and the album focus track 'Willow Tree' after recently sharing their full live session at Seattle's KEXP.

Formed in North Carolina in the 1980s, The Veldt's heady and sensual blend of shoegaze and progressive soul, dreamy soundscapes and infectious grooves makes them stand out among the world's most notable first-wave shoegaze bands. The band's core is Daniel Chavis (vocals, guitar), Danny Chavis (guitar) and Hayato Nakao (bass, programming).

'Illuminated 1989' album is the original full-length record produced by Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie, who also remastered this album for vinyl. Originally intended as the band's first album, their label Capitol Records shelved the recording and sent them back into the studio with producer Lincoln Fong (Moose, Piroshka), resulting in their first album released with the title 'Marigolds'.

The Veldt also released their seductive 'Aurora Borealis' 7" single, featuring Elizabeth Fraser cameo on backing vocals and 'Aurora Borealis Remix', as well as videos for 'Angel Heart''The Everlasting Gobstopper' and 'Shallow by Shallow', the latter of which features footage from the Ritz NYC by Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins

Pitchfork included The Veldt's album 'Afrodisiac', produced by the legendary Ray Shulman (The Sundays, Bjork, The Sugarcubes) in the top 50 shoegaze albums ever released, while Stereogum included ‘Until You’re Forever’ in the top 31 shoegaze tracks. Their sound also inspired future generations of alternative artists, including TV On the Radio.

The Veldt's journey is fascinating. Performing since they were children, the Chavis brothers’ musical roots lead back to the church and southern juke-joints, and listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. The Veldt formed in the late 80’s in Raleigh amongst the legendary North Carolina music scene of the time, initially signing with Mammoth Records - leading to a chain of major-label relationships that took the group across Europe and the U.S. playing shows with the likes of Throwing Muses, Pixies, Cocteau Twins and Jesus & Mary Chain.

After moving from Raleigh to New York, they briefly performed as Apollo Heights before returning to their original name The Veldt.  Other notable releases include 'The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur' EP (2017) and the album 'Entropy is the Mainline to God' (2022).

Over the years, The Veldt has collaborated with TV On The Radio, Mos Def, Lady Miss Kier (Deee-Lite), A.R.Kane and toured or played with Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pixies, Throwing Muses, Echo & The Bunnymen, Cocteau Twins, Manic Street Preachers, Phantogram, Modern English, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Oasis, Chuck D, Living Colour and Schooly D.

The 'Illuminated 1989' album is out now on limited edition translucent pink or clear vinyl with a gatefold sleeve. It is also available from fine digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.  Tickets for this tour are now available online.

The Mendenhall Experiment Release New Single "Say It" via Lucent/UMG

The Mendenhall Experiment is proud to announce the release of their latest single, "Say It." This dynamic track is set to drop today, May 10th via Lucent/UMG, a division of Universal Music Group and marks the second release from their forthcoming EP, Chasing Ghosts.

Mendenhall talks about the single, "'Say It' was a different process for us, the song came together organically as a full band, with everyone throwing in their flavor on the fly. It was one of those 'magic moments' as a band where everything just flowed out of us and the song came together in an evening. It stands as one of our heaviest songs in the catalogue.”

Vocalist Alyce Hayes adds, "'Say It' is a song about speaking your truth, even when you're scared, or when you feel unheard. It's a personal mantra and reminder for myself, really. We can't fully become who we're meant to be until we can speak for ourselves. When the guys sent me the music, I was immediately inspired. I think I had the lyrics written in about 30 minutes. 'Say It' is asking the question: 'What if I don't stay silent? What if my words have power?' Because they do. Words absolutely have power."

“If you asked me why I want to be a rock star...it’s not about the fame or money,” guitarist/ songwriter Brandon Mendenhall states. “I have a unique opportunity to inspire people and kids with disabilities with my playing, my music and my story. I truly believe that's what I was put on this earth to do.”

Born with Cerebral Palsy, an incurable neurological disorder affecting movement, coordination and, balance; Brandon Mendenhall faces numerous challenges. With limited movement on his left side and zero mobility in his left hand, the odds were stacked against him from birth.

However, inspired by acts such as Korn and Pantera, Brandon taught himself how to play guitar at the age of 19, rehabilitating his left hand without surgical intervention. “Once I was able to get a guitar in my hands, it changed my life,” he says. That passion for music sparked something in his soul and a dream began to form...a dream that was thought to be impossible: Brandon wanted to play guitar and form a band. He recalls, “My grandfather told me, ‘You’ll never be a guitarist. Don’t even try.’ And that crushed me. Those words lit a fire in me. I was determined that I could do this.”

The Mendenhall Experiment was born as Brandon's own personal aspiration to be in a world-famous band while working within the limitations of Cerebral Palsy, knowing full well that the cards were stacked against finding musicians willing to work with him. Possessing a fierce desire to succeed, Brandon went to visit a friend in the Rock & Roll Mecca of Los Angeles- and never left, pursuing his dream with relentless tenacity and bulldog determination. Failure was not an option.

Formed in 2008, The Mendenhall Experiment also features bass player Nathan Stockton, who overcame a disability of his own-childhood deafness-through the power of music. He and Brandon are joined by Alyce Hayes on vocals, Mike Lira on guitar, and Justin Lubeck on drums.

Based in Southern California, TMX has been regularly performing on the infamous Sunset Strip in addition to gigs throughout the region opening for the likes of such metal mainstays as John 5, POD, Alien Ant Farm, Kill Devil Hill, Fear Factory, Prong, Flaw, Metal Allegiance, Smile Empty Soul, Cold, and more. In 2013, the five-piece performed at the Monster Energy Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, sharing the stage with Korn, Megadeth, and Five Finger Death Punch.

A breakthrough occurred on June 17, 2014, when TMX made it to the final round of The Battle of the Bands for Warped Tour. After an electrifying performance that left the audience screaming for more, The Mendenhall Experiment took second place. The subsequent buzz reached the discerning ears at Liquid Bit Music Productions and in August 2014 TMX inked a publishing deal with the company, six years to the day after the initial incarnation of The Mendenhall Experiment performed its first show in Brandon's hometown of Kankakee, Illinois. Shortly thereafter, the quintet put pen to paper again to sign their first development deal with Lucent Records, including national digital distribution through Universal Music Group.

TMX’s inspiring and energetic performances strive to bring a positive message to the masses. They stand strong for disability awareness in support of Brandon, who observes, “At our shows, we are starting to see the impact of our mission to inspire others on a consistent basis. Our fans and supporters come to us and give their personal testimonies and praise about how we are touching their lives, and the lives of others with disabilities.” The music and lyrics resonate far beyond the disabilities, inspiring people to seize every day and celebrate life.

The Mendenhall Experiment began recording their current EP in various studios in Los Angeles with the help of some very special guests: James “Munky” Shaffer (Korn) and Danny Lohner (NIN/A Perfect Circle). The EP is available everywhere online and the debut single, “Seize the Day”, has received over thirty-thousand views on Vevo/YouTube.

The music video was acclaimed Video of the Year at the 2015 LRT Music Video Awards in Hollywood, California, celebrating independent music, while Brandon was deemed Trailblazer of the Year at the 2015 United Cerebral Palsy Los Angeles Art of Care annual event. In addition, he was also named celebrity ambassador for Day Trippers, a UK-based charity assisting disabled people in Great Britain. A feature documentary film detailing Brandon and the band’s story, Mind Over Matter, was released in 2019; directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Paquet (Korn,Wounded Warriors). In 2016 TMX made a triumphant return to the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, graduating to the main stage and playing to over four-thousand wildly enthusiastic fans. TMX has also performed at the 2017 Rocklahoma festival. In 2019 they released the singles "Unwanted" and a surprise acoustic version of "Nothing Good Came Easy" to much acclaim from fans.

On November 11th, 2022 their second EP Against All Odds was launched with its hit single “Pulse of The Lost” featuring Chris Garza from Suicide Silence. Within the first eight minutes of its release on Spotify it amassed over one hundred and thirty thousand streams. After the successful launch of their EP, TMX received an award from Daniel’s Music Foundation in recognition of their continuing efforts to raise disability awareness in the music industry and performed to a sold-out audience at the award ceremony which took place at the Symphony Space Performing Arts Center on Broadway in New York City. The Mendenhall Experiment is currently sponsored by Monster Energy, Ibanez Guitars, EMG Pickups, SIT Strings, EVH Amplifiers, Evertune Bridges, and InTune Guitar Picks.

Brandon maintains a vision for TMX that some may deem unrealistic: “I am confident that as The Mendenhall Experiment brand continues to grow and see greater success, we can begin to inspire people on a global scale with our music, touching not only the lives of individuals but also changing the global perception of people with disabilities.” But considering all that he's overcome thus far, it would be difficult to bet against Brandon and “The Experiment” that bears his name fulfilling those goals!

The Mendenhall Experiment is:

Brandon Mendenhall - Rhythm Guitarist

Alyce Hayes - Vocalist

Mike Lira - Lead Guitarist

Nathan Stockton - Bassist

Justin Luebeck - Percussionist

The Plot In You Release 'Vol. 2' EP + Drop "All That I Can Give" Music Video via Fearless Records

Ohio-based powerhouse The Plot In You has dropped their latest track "All That I Can Give" and the official music video, rounding out their new 'Vol. 2' EP available now on all streaming platforms (via Fearless Records). When asked about the inspiration behind the track, the band commented:

"'All That I Can Give' is a piece about the struggle of feeling trapped in a lifestyle that challenges other aspects of existence and perspective. Leaving one feeling isolated and inadequate."

The Plot In You previously shared "Closure" which climbed the Top 40 ranks at Active Rock Radio and most recently, released "Don't Look Away". The tracks have together amassed a staggering 5.8 million streams on Spotify alone and nearly 630k views and counting on YouTube. Stream 'Vol. 2' here and watch "All That I Can Give" below.

Through balancing even the most extreme dynamics, The Plot In You consistently overturn and upend expectations. On any given track, it might seem like they’re about to go one way, but the band will turn on a dime and shift course before the crowd can even catch a breath. This uncanny element of surprise has entrenched the gold-selling Ohio quartet—Landon Tewers [vocals], Josh Childress [guitar], Ethan Yoder [bass], and Michael Cooper [drums] — on the cutting edge of heavy music. Whether it be threads of alternative, electronic, pop, or R&B, nothing is off limits, and everything is fair game for their creative process. That process has continued to morph. Following a series of fan-favorite releases, the band made major waves with DISPOSE [2018]. “FEEL NOTHING” surged on social media as a viral phenomenon, generating hundreds of millions of streams and picking up a gold certification from the RIAA. The musicians only maintained this momentum with Swan Song in 2021. Hysteria rated it “9-out-of-10”. Simultaneously, they sold out shows coast-to-coast. During 2023, the band kickstarted another era with Vol. 1“Divide” generated 9 million Spotify streams right out of the gate followed by “Left Behind”, exploding to the tune of 15.9 million Spotify streams. Upon the arrival of “Forgotten”, Revolver praised it among the “6 Best New Songs Right Now.” They only continue to challenge convention by extending this three-song EP series with Vol. 2 [Fearless Records].

About Dance Gavin Dance

Rejecting tired formulas at every step, Dance Gavin Dance merge progressive rock and post-hardcore with thick groove, brilliantly combining experimental music with hooks and a warped sense of humor. The group has amassed over 1.6 billion global streams, and 1.7 million album equivalent units sold across their catalog in the US alone. With hundreds of thousands of rabid fans engaged with Dance Gavin Dance on socials and their very own festival event, Swanfest, which sold out both its inaugural edition in 2019, its triumphant, post-pandemic return in 2022 in the band's hometown of Sacramento and it's first ever East Coast iteration last year, it all amounts to a full force band facing a mainstream that has overlooked them for way too long.

In August of 2022, the band released their 10th studio album, Jackpot Juicer, to enormous critical acclaim and their highest chart positions to date. Selling a staggering 33,500 copies in it's first week alone, Jackpot Juicer topped multiple charts and landed in the upper echelons of the Billboard Top 200 once again with the band's biggest ever week 1 sales. The album saw the band hit their first ever Top Ten debut, entering the Top 200 at #8, whilst also hitting the #1 spot across the Top Alternative and Top Rock charts, #2 on the Top Vinyl chart, #3 on Top Album Chart and #5 on Top Album Sales Chart. The success of Jackpot Juicer has seen the band sell-out numerous headline shows across North America, play multiple world-renowned festivals and despite unfathomable challenges, somehow continue to not only persevere, but grow from strength to strength.

As the undeniable statistics keep mounting up, the fact becomes more and more clear that Dance Gavin Dance are one of this generation's most popular and enduring forces from the world of heavy music. As Pollstar put it "Sacramento, Calif.-based Dance Gavin Dance is not just any band."

Secrets Share New Single "Despair"

SECRETS have unleashed their first new music since 2022 with the new single "Despair." Listen Below

It's all about the electronic flourishes, gnarly riffery, and screams that sound as thought they crawled headlong from the bowels of hell. The track will kick your ass from start to finish.

Not only does the new single mark a new era of aggression for the band but is also a rebirth of sorts, as guitarist/clean vocalist Richard Rogers has stepped away from the band and has given his blessing for the band to carry on with a new lineup. Long-running members, vocalist Wade Walters and guitarist Connor Branigan, are now joined by guitarist/clean vocalist David Baqi in this rebirth of these California metalcore stalwarts.

"Despair" was produced by Taylor Larson (Asking Alexandria, Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Within Temptatio.), who will also oversee the band's upcoming full-length album. Set to be recorded this summer, the new album promises to be the band's most pulverizing yet. You read it here first.

But for now, it's time to immerse yourself in "Despair."

SECRETS are currently touring with Colorblind, Glasslands, and Unwell. Once the tour wraps, the band will then spend June aneJuly supporting Eyes Set To Kill. Expect a wealth more touring from the band as they unveil more new music in the coming months.

Since their formation over a decade ago, California-based metalcore band SECRETS have been a giant within and beyond their genre. Relentless drive and progressive creativity have solidified the band's place in their scene's development and impact on the masses.

After being signed to Velocity Records in 2011, SECRETS released their debut full-length album, The Ascent, in January 2012. The record debuted at #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and became the first release from the first incarnation of Velocity Records to appear on the Billboard Top 200, debuting at #185.

Worldwide touring and lineup changes helped refine the band and their music, leading to their second album, Fragile Figures, in 2013. The album was a success, selling over 10,000 copies in the first month and charting at #59 on the Billboard 200 charts. SECRETS released their third studio album, Everything That Got Us Here, in January 2015, seeing the album hit #11 on the Hard Rock Albums charts and #20 on the Independent Albums charts.

Following yet another success with their fourth album, the self-titled Secrets in 2018, the band continued to create, perform, and push the boundaries of their music and the genre. 2022 saw the release of their fifth album, The Collapse via their new partnership with their initial label, Velocity Records, who at the time had recently relaunched.

Bryce Leatherwood Releases OMV for “The One My Daddy Found” In Time For Mother’s Day

When Republic Records / Mercury Nashville recording artist Bryce Leatherwood sat down with Lynn Hutton and Chris Dubois to write “The One My Daddy Found,” his parents’ 25 year love story was at the forefront of the song’s inspiration. It was only fitting that the song, devoted to his parents and all of the qualities from their relationship he aspires to in his own life, would transform into his first official music video, available everywhere now.

With a release timed to Mother’s Day, “The One My Daddy Found” music video was directed by Lewis Cater and captures the timelessness of lasting love, chronicling the story of a young couple falling in love and growing old together.

Speaking exclusively with PeopleLeatherwood shared, “The music video for 'The One My Daddy Found' was based around the idea of lasting relationships. My inspiration was my mom and dad and I’m very lucky that they’re still together. Everyone wants a love that lasts and that was the vision for my first music video. I hope y’all enjoy and hug your momma."

“The One My Daddy Found” is Leatherwood’s latest release as he continues to tease new music to come. Leatherwood was most recently featured in Boot Barn’s 2024 spring campaign Taking Flight, a highlight on up-and-coming country musicians. Leatherwood was also named a 2024 Artist to Watch by Music Mayhem and Country Now earlier this year.

Leatherwood will conclude his first-ever headlining tour, The Neon Does Tour, tomorrow in Louisville, Kentucky. The tour took him to 11 cities, including Knoxville, Tennessee; Columbus, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois and more. This summer, Leatherwood will make his CMA Fest debut, performing June 9 on the Good Molecules Reverb Stage.

About Bryce Leatherwood:
Bryce Leatherwood is a 24-year-old singer/songwriter who aims to carry the torch of country music and continue the legacy of legends prior. Bryce was born and raised in Woodstock, GA, and his passion for music began at an early age. Working on his grandfather’s farm every summer, Bryce was exposed to the classic country hits of George Jones, Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty. Soon thereafter, Bryce began picking up guitars and playing the traditional country music that still inspires him today. Bryce’s music career began to blossom in Statesboro, GA, where he attended Georgia Southern University. During his time in Statesboro, Bryce played college venues and continued to hone his stage presence and his country music repertoire. In late 2021 while still enrolled in college, Bryce formed his band and began playing all around the Southeast. Bryce’s goal was to take the stage and play the best of country music to all ages and audiences. After graduating college, Bryce set his mind on a new task. In 2022, he competed on the NBC hit television show The Voice and was crowned the Season 22 winner in December of 2022. Following his success on “The Voice,” Bryce signed with Republic Records / Universal Music Group Nashville and is currently hard at work on new music.

Scotty McCreery Delivers Fifth Studio Album 'Rise and Fall'

SCOTTY McCREERY RELEASES FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM
RISE AND FALL

Album Follows Sixth No. 1 with Lead Single “Cab in a Solo”

“Scotty McCreery Doubles Down on Songwriting, Storytelling on Rise and Fall

–  Billboard

“One of the stronger track lists of McCreery’s career, any of those tunes could be his next single, and all would feel at home on the Grand Ole Opry stage.” – Nashville Lifestyles

“…after more than a decade of successes, experimentation and growth in the genre’s top tier - the multi-faceted singer-songwriter has zeroed in on his truest sound with Rise and Fall.”
–
Holler

“He’s not just singing about the old greats anymore. He sounds like them.”
Saving Country Music

On the heels of his sixth No. 1 hit on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase Chart with lead single “Cab in a Solo,” Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery releases his fifth studio album Rise and Fall, today, May 10. Listen to Rise and Fall HERE.

“I’ve been living with this record for months…it is more me than any I’ve ever made, and I’m so excited for the world to finally hear it,” said McCreery.

“Across the 13-track collection, McCreery exhibits his continued growth as a vocalist and songwriter,” notes Holler, while Country Now calls it “his best record yet,” as Rise and Fall finds him exploring not only heartbreak but rowdy nights, nostalgia, faith, newfound joy, fatherhood and enduring love, resulting in a project full of insightful storytelling. The album was produced by McCreery’s longtime production team of Frank Rogers, Derek Wells and Aaron Eshuis.

McCreery co-wrote 12 of the 13 songs on the album, which Billboard observes, “Light-hearted fare such as ‘Stuck Behind a Tractor’ and ‘And Countin’’ mesh with heartbreak brushoffs such as ‘Lonely,’ the bluegrass-inflected album-closer ‘Porch’ and the faith-filled ‘Red Letter Blueprint.’” It is available digitally as well as on CD and vinyl. In addition, Amazon is releasing a limited-edition forest green vinyl version of the album. Order autographed vinyl and CDs of Rise and Fall HERE.

“I know every artist says it, but this is truly my favorite album I’ve made so far,” shares McCreery. “I wanted to create an album that reflected the music I grew up on and wasn’t chasing trends. So, I brought several of my songwriting buddies to the mountains of North Carolina to sit down and write a full-on country album that told a story, start to finish, and spoke to my soul. We’ve been performing most of the album live on the road and the response from the audiences has been overwhelming. I’m excited for everyone to finally hear Rise and Fall.”

The North Carolina native knows all too well there’s a rhythm to life and a cycle of ups and downs. And right now, he’s on the upswing.

Now 30 years old and a seasoned country music veteran selling out concerts across the globe with six No. 1 hits under his belt, McCreery is also a dedicated husband and father, welcoming a son named Avery in 2022, whose impact on the singer is highlighted in several songs on the album. Recently, he even celebrated the milestone of all milestones for a guy who grew up on Randy Travis, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Ronnie Milsap; he was invited by his musical hero Garth Brooks to become the newest member of the iconic Grand Ole Opry. McCreery was just welcomed into the Opry family last month by two more of his heroes, Josh Turner and Randy Travis.

But folks like McCreery know it means more when you’ve seen the other side. For him, each highlight has come in contrast to a challenge – things like the loss of his first record deal and the year of naysaying uncertainty that followed before he built himself up again, brick by brick. As a result, Rise and Fall comes from an artist who knows to appreciate the ride – no matter where it leads.

“I feel like we’re on the rise now, but I’ve fallen pretty low as well,” McCreery admits. “I learned from every little part of that, and it helped me to know who I was as a person – let alone an artist. The rises and the falls helped craft these songs. They made this album what it is.”

The album features No. 1 hit “Cab in a Solo” which was most added at Country radio upon its debut, with Billboard praising, “McCreery has been on a hot streak of well-crafted, notably performed songs,” upon the track’s release, noting he “continues to slake music listeners’ affinity for ‘90s country, thanks to a neo-traditional sound connected to vivid lyricism.”

In addition to the lead single McCreery has been rolling out a taste of the new music all year to great acclaim. Most recent release “Lonely” left Saving Country Music saying, “The mainstream country star has always charmed us with the richness of his voice…” while Taste of Country called the spiritual “Red Letter Blueprint,” “nostalgic yet fresh” and Country Nownotes “ “Pure joy emulates through McCreery’s baritone voice,” on “Love Like This” while also calling “Can’t Pass the Bar,” “the perfect soundtrack to a Friday night.”  A full listing of the album’s songs follows.

The newest member of the Grand Ole Opry will return to the legendary stage tomorrow, May 11. The first 400 ticketholders who also purchase the album onsite in the Opry Shop that evening will gain access to an exclusive album release celebration and acoustic performance with Scotty directly following the show in the Opry House’s Studio A. For Opry tickets and information, visit Opry.com.

Tickets for upcoming tour dates are on sale now at ScottyMcCreery.com.

About Scotty McCreery
Scotty McCreery has been a household name for nearly half his life, ever since making history in 2011 as both the first country artist and the youngest male artist of any genre to debut his first studio album, the Platinum-certified Clear as Day, at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. With his latest album Rise and Fall, featuring his sixth No. 1 single “Cab in a Solo” and 12 additional tracks, McCreery explores classic themes of heartbreak, rowdy nights, nostalgia, faith, newfound joy, fatherhood, and enduring love, and through it all, felt comfortable being himself, resulting in a project full of electrified twang, rich baritone vocals and insightful storytelling. The 30-year-old has sold more than 4 million albums and achieved 6 No.1 hits: the recent “Cab in a Solo,” the RIAA Platinum-certified “Damn Strait,” the RIAA Gold certified “You Time,” the RIAA Gold certified “In Between,” the RIAA Platinum certified “This is It,” and the RIAA Triple Platinum certified ‘Five More Minutes.” The North Carolina native has earned one Triple Platinum, five Platinum and four Gold singles; one Platinum and two Gold albums; won the 10th season of “American Idol” in 2011 at age 17; was named the ACM New Artist of the Year in 2011; won two CMT Music Awards, the first for Breakthrough Video of the Year (“The Trouble with Girls”) in 2012, and the second for Digital-First Performance of the Year (“It Matters to Her” from “CMT Stages”) in 2024; and BMI Awards for writing One of the Top 50 Country Songs of the Year five times (in 2015 for “See You Tonight,” in 2018 for “Five More Minutes,” in 2019 for “This is It,” in 2021 for “In Between,” and in 2022 for “You Time”). He was awarded Pandora Billionaire status in 2021 in recognition of his music achieving more than one billion streams on Pandora. His song “Five More Minutes” inspired two popular holiday movies which aired on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Network: “Five More Minutes” in 2021 and “Five More Minutes: Moments Like These” in 2022. He released his first book Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream in 2016. His most recent album is Same Truck: The Deluxe Album. This fall McCreery was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and last year was invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry by Garth Brooks. McCreery was just welcomed into the Opry family on April 20 by his heroes, Josh Turner and Randy Travis. The singer/songwriter married his high school sweetheart Gabi in 2018, and the couple had their first son Avery in October 2022. For more information, visit ScottyMcCreery.com.

Chase Rice Begins Next Musical Chapter with "Fireside" Out Now

Following the critically acclaimed release of 2023’s I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, Chase Rice unveils the start of his next musical chapter with today’s independent release of guitar-driven anthem “Fireside.” Listen Below.

“This is just the very beginning of my next full album, which to me is another level up from the Cowboys record,” Rice shared with fans of the new song, as he continues to pursue vulnerability and authenticity in his songwriting. “The theme continues with some pictures of my childhood and not only what got me here today, but who did,” he added, pointing to the single art paying tribute to the love story of his own parents with his mom, Connie, and late father, Dan, pictured at Road Atlanta in the mid-1970s.

Penned by Rice alongside Jonathan Sherwood, Jackson Dean and producer Oscar Charles, “Fireside” spotlights thefiery passion of romance, with the chorus erupting in a rallying cry to “burn with me.”

While Rice has always excelled at creating music that thrills his sold-out live audiences, “Fireside” joins I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell in doing so at an elevated level, with Billboard noting, “the music is still propulsive with arena-ready moments, but is laced with deeper, more introspective themes” and Forbes declaring, “his latest album shows a deeper, more reflective Chase Rice than we’ve seen in the past a full-circle, career defining journey for Rice, as both a singer and a songwriter.”

Rice will perform “Fireside” live for the first time this Tuesday, May 14 as he returns to the Grand Ole Opry stage. He also joins Dierks Bentley’s Gravel & Gold Tour visiting arenas and amphitheaters nationwide from June through September in addition to prominent sets at major festivals including Tailgate N’ Tallboys, Summerfest, Windy City Smokeout and more.

About Chase Rice
With more than 2.6 million albums sold and over 2.7 billion total streams, plus a legion of passionate fans at his high-energy concerts across the globe, Chase Rice has established himself as a powerful force in Nashville and beyond. With new release “Fireside” available everywhere now as the follow-up to critically acclaimed album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, Rice’s sound continues to evolve to reflect the realities of his life; from emotional reckoning to an admiration of the Western way of life. The recent album, including standout tracks “Oklahoma” and “Bench Seat,” serves as a follow up to his three-part project, The Album, which featured his latest Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” and the Platinum-certified Top 10 hit “Lonely If You Are.”

This is the same gravelly-voiced Chase Rice fans first fell in love with years ago – but better, freer; unbeholden and uninhibited. The new music builds upon the success of his sophomore album, Lambs & Lions, which featured the 3x Platinum, two-week chart topper “Eyes On You” – Rice’s first No. 1 as an artist and the most-streamed song of his career. Lambs & Lions followed Platinum-certified Ignite the Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and No. 3 on the all-genre chart, producing a pair of Top 5 hits; Platinum-certified “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and Double Platinum “Ready Set Roll.” In addition to guesting on sold-out stadium shows with Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Rice consistently sells out venues on his own headlining tours, including the recent Get Western Tour in support of his new music, and he will join Dierks Bentley’s Gravel & Gold Tour this summer.

GASKET To Release "Babylon" EP on 6/21 + Band Shares "Syndicate" Video

Baltimore quartet GASKET, who released Dull the Needle, a seven song EP back in November 2023, are pleased to announce their forthcoming BABYLON EP. The EP arrives June 21 via Blue Grape Music. Pre-order it here on vinyl or cassette.

Today, the band has dropped the video for "SYNDICATE." Watch it below

It also premiered over at Brooklyn Vegan

"'SYNDICATE' is the most personal song on the record, and the most fast-paced," the band shares. "The song is about an old friend you wish you'd never met."

Regarding the EP as a whole, the band says, "This EP is the hardest we've ever worked on anything together. As simple as it may sound, it's a culmination of all of our favorite bands.  Lyrically, it's a melting pot of experiences and feelings we've had for the past two years that we hope people can relate to. BABYLON represents GASKET as a whole; it's our escape from reality and we couldn't be more grateful for it."

BABYLON is a perfectly executed and lethal mix of crusty punk, gnarly, old school hardcore, and grimy metal. Most of the tracks span under two-and-a-half minutes, but the band uses the time wisely. Every song is a like a grenade blast that you won't soon forget.

CONQUEST RETURN WITH LATEST OFFERING 'PARADOX' OUT TODAY!

Veteran midwest metal outfit Conquest return with their latest album, 'Paradox,' on Friday, May 10th. Available as two vinyl records or a single CD (plus available on all streaming services), the album continues in the same direction as their previous studio offerings, as evidenced by such standout tracks as "Walking Dead" and "The Writings on the Wall" (both of which have already been issued as music videos), as well as a cover of the Rainbow classic, "Man on the Silver Mountain.”

To view the videos, click on these link.

Walking Dead - Below

The Writings on the Wall - https://youtu.be/Le9KNK4PuNA?si=LBBZ6oPhD7cYjaS1

Comprised of Derrick Brumley: Lead Vocals and Guitar, Mike Crook: Vocals and Guitar, Rob Boyer: Vocals and Bass, and Lee Skyles: Vocals and Drums, 'Paradox' was also produced and mixed by Derrick (and engineered by Adam Long), the band's latest album is getting rave reviews via metal media, including the Rock You Show site saying "I have to give this one 9.5 out of 10 "Flaming Fist". You nearly get 2 albums worth of great quality music, including a stellar cover of Rainbow's "Man on the Silver Mountain". I thank them personally for keeping the Metal torch lit in these times of darkness".

"This was a record that took 3 years to make had many different obstacles," admits Derrick. "But we made it through and it was a blast to put together. All the band members did an outstanding job from The melodies on the bass to the blazing guitar solos and the strong aggressive drumming…these guys helped me put it all together. And it turned out in my opinion over the top."

And the singer/guitarist/producer also has some favorite tracks in mind. "Lots to choose from. The obvious tracks 'Walking Dead,' 'Writing on the Wall,' there are all kinds of different heavy metal tracks on this record. 'Babylon America' and 'The Killing Time,' two different styles but very, very complimentary to each other."

Additionally, the cover of "Man on the Silver Mountain" is certainly a standout. "'Man on the Silver Mountain' for me was always one of those tracks when I was a kid that just stood out. My dad always played it and my friend's dad's always played that song, it was just one of those songs in the midwest that really had some grit to it.”

Lee Skyles added "Recording the PARADOX album in the studio was rewarding in the sense it felt to be very organic in nature with the even flow of the songs as we wrote them and recorded. As some songs were done with such feeling between us in the room together and other tracks we laid the drums later on the fly like 'Babylon America' and 'World of Hate' which gave it more of what you would want it to be like. PARADOX was truly a metal masterful piece of work in which keeps the old school metal flavor in a modern form.”

You can download, stream, purchase cds and vinyl here: https://lnk.to/conquestparadox

And having already shared concert stages with the likes of Slayer, Rob Halford, Testament, Iron Maiden, and Yngwie Malmsteen, the band can certainly deliver the goods on stage – which the band will soon be doing with shows in support of 'Paradox.’

And fans will get a chance to experience Conquest live on stage on July 12th, when the band performs with Burning Witches at Diamond Music Hall in St. Peters, MO.

Like Moths to Flames Share "Over the Garden Wall" Video

U.S. metalcore act Like Moths To Flames will release their new album The Cycles Of Trying To Cope tomorrow, May 10 via UNFD. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has dropped the gloriously eerie video for "Over the Garden Wall." Watch it below.

The video presents haunting and downright creepy images, as it finds the band performing in the woods as the sun is going down, juxtaposed with other ominous footage.

"This song has a lot of parallels with the body representing a home," LMTF vocalist Chris Roetter explains.

As for the album as a whole, Roetter continues, "The record encapsulates the many varying emotions we go through when trying to grow through life. The last few years, I really tried to harness some of those emotions as a catalyst to get through whatever I was going through at the time. I think we all have our own unique ways to cope and these are mine."

Each single that the band has released is related to a coping "cycle" and associated word. The cycle for "Over the Garden Wall" is "MELANCHOLIA."

"When it breaks, what piece am I left with?," ponders frontman Chris Roetter over the rousing, palms-to-the-sky outro of "Kintsugi," an emotional thunderclap of a song that forms somewhat of a centrepiece to Like Moths To Flames' career re-defining sixth album, The Cycles Of Trying To Cope. Whilst the anthemic track's title pays homage to the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, for Roetter and his bandmates [guitarists Zach Pishney and Cody Cavanaugh, and drummer Roman Garcia], the notion of "Kintsugi" comes loaded with the profound human experience of seeking to find light in the dark, to birth good from bad — indeed, the cycles of trying to cope: "The record encapsulates the varying emotions we go through when trying to grow through life," says Roetter. "Over the last few years, I've really tried to harness my emotions as a catalyst to get through whatever I was facing at the time. I think we all have our own unique ways to cope — these are mine. Just being able to write about this stuff and put it out into the world makes it feel like I'm not so alone."

Segmented into four chapters, dubbed LIMBO, FRACTURE, DISSOCIATE, and MELANCHOLIA, The Cycles Of Trying To Cope album plays as an intense exploration of the Like Moths musical arsenal, straddling the ugly and the beautiful in equal measure, whilst Roetter's raw introspection pierces the heart of every vicious breakdown or soaring chorus with cathartic power. Though not originally designed to be a concept album, Roetter's reflections on these diverse, complimentary, and contrasting facets of the band's latest opus revealed common threads which led the singer even deeper into his internal landscape; exploring the ways in which differing stages and aspects of the record were connected evoked in Roetter thoughts of the terraces in Dante's Purgatory and the "cycles" were given shape.

"A big focal point for Moths has always been writing about things I'm actively going through," Roetter details. "But when I realized that each song on the new album covers a unique approach I've had to a specific emotion, it felt like we needed something that could escort listeners through the record. It definitely helps it all feel cohesive and complete; Sometimes an album can just feel like a collection of songs, but I think this is more an experience to the band — I hope that people are able to find some solace in knowing someone else out there is dealing with these things too."

Tigirlily Gold Announce Debut Album ‘Blonde;’ Listen to “Leroy” Now

On the heels of scoring two CMT Award nominations earlier this year for Breakthrough Female Video and Duo/Group Video of the Year as well as a nomination for Best New Duo/Group at the upcoming ACM Awards, Monument Records’ powerhouse duo Tigirlily Gold continue their breakout year with the announcement of their debut album Blonde set for release July, 26, 2024. Sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh shared the album news on social media earlier this week along with another taste of new music from the LP with their latest release “Leroy,” available everywhere today.

Pre-save Blonde HERE and listen to “Leroy” HERE. Watch “Leroy” visualizer Below

Written by Nora Collins, Jessie Jo Dillon and  Forest Glen Whitehead and produced by Pete Good and Shane McAnally, the 2024 CMT Next Women of Country hope fans walk away feeling empowered, confident and heard by this song as they urge the listener to leave a man who isn’t treating her right.

You probably ought to call Leroy
Tell him to get his Chevy, get you packed and ready to go
‘cause I done told you what I need boy
In one ear, out the other, feeling like your mother you know, yeah
I’ve cussed about it, I’ve cried about it
And now I’m nothing but tired about it
So, the next time you miss the sound of my voice
You probably ought to call Leroy

The Billboard-dubbed “harmonically savvy sibling duo” teamed with producers Shane McAnally, Pete Good and Alex Kline to create Blonde. In addition to “Leroy” the debut will feature current single “I Tried a Ring On,” which was one of the most-added singles, with 47 first-week adds, along with the rowdy viral sensation and Top 40 hit “Shoot Tequila.” Filled with deeply personal tracks and poignant tales of love and loss alongside powerful anthems and songs of female empowerment, the pair says their goal was to bring girl group energy back to country music.

Blonde is all about being undeniably and unapologetically yourself,” Krista says. “We want everyone to feel confident and vulnerable enough at the same time to say what they need to say.”

The forthcoming album follows the pair’s 2021 self-titled debut EP and 2023 EP Blonde and features a cover of the Leona Lewis hit “Bleeding Love,” a favorite in the girls live show, as well as original tracks like the seductive “Move On” which encourages women to make the first move. While “Hometown Song” highlights the more serious side of the sisters, describing the push and pull of both loving and hating where you come from.

“Every song about hometowns usually goes one of two ways, you either love it and it’s perfect or you hate it, and we could never relate to either of those exact feelings,” Kendra explains, “so we wanted to write a song that hints at both. It’s the emotion of when you are in a place for so long, wanting to leave and try something new, but when you’re gone, there’s nothing that can replace that feeling of home.”

The women owe a lot to their hometown of Hazen, ND. The sisters grew up in a house where singing was encouraged, and they learned early how to harmonize with each other. Taking a cue from a few of their musical influences – The Chicks, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Shania Twain and Dolly Parton – Kendra and Krista effortlessly blend their voices to create rich and robust harmonies.

In 2013, at the ages of 16 (Kendra) and 14 (Krista), the two sisters made the decision to pursue music full-time. With that, Tigirlily Gold was born. Fittingly, the band’s name comes from the ‘Tiger Lily’ flower that grew in the garden of their childhood home.

While Tigirlily Gold toured the Midwest throughout the mid-2010s, they also embraced online platforms like YouTube and TikTok. The young women shared their songs, showcased their talent, and connected with their ever-growing fanbase any way they could. After four years crisscrossing the Dakota’s, Montana, and Minnesota, Tigirlily Gold relocated from North Dakota to Tennessee in 2017.

The women quickly landed a weekly residence performing at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Nashville’s famed lower Broadway, where they would see their fans, who were not residents of Music City, show up. The women often played four-hour sets, three to four nights a week. Songs like barn burner “Shoot Tequila” were born from the time spent honing their craft on Broadway.

“I’ve been singing in honky tonks since before I could even legally ‘shoot tequila,’” Krista admits. “Playing on Broadway in Nashville for years really affected our sound, and we always lean towards writing songs that have great live energy. ‘Shoot Tequila’ is our ‘Broadway’ song, and we want people to get excited, grab a drink, and meet us at the nearest honky tonk to listen to the rest of the album.”

To Kendra and Krista, “Blonde” is a state of mind. The day they wrote the title track, everything changed. “The entire vision for the record was set, and we were set on capturing the feeling of confidence and being bold,” Krista says.

You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy hair like this/ It’s a Dolly Parton state of mind,” they sing on the song’s chorus.

“This song is about not taking anything too seriously and being able to poke fun at yourself, but also be really confident in who you are all at the same time,” Kendra says. “We thought a lot about strong women like Dolly Parton when writing this one. We really wanted to bring a unique, new, fun energy to country music and I think this song does a great job of showcasing that.”

Blonde embodies this infectious energy while introducing a new chapter for the sisters, showcasing their mesmerizing harmonies and adept songwriting alongside relatable stories. The women knew they wanted to create a bold and fearless album. In doing so, they also leave a part of themselves in every song.

“I hope listeners feel like they could hang out with us on a Friday night or have a heart-to-heart on a Sunday morning, that every emotion you feel is valid, that some nights you want to go shoot tequila and some nights you want to cry over a boy who shattered you,” Kendra says. “At the end of the day, no one has it all together, and we're all figuring out how to navigate love, loss, friends, memories, self-love, confidence.”

About Tigirlily Gold:
Sister duo Tigirlily Gold has been playing music together since they could walk, and officially formed their band in high school. Growing up, they crisscrossed the mid-west, growing a fierce fan base and selling out amphitheaters across their home-state of North Dakota. After moving to Nashville, they landed a weekly residence at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Nashville’s famed lower Broadway. Playing four-hour sets, three to four nights a week, the sisters developed a performance style that’s not only captivating and fun but shows just how entertaining is in their blood. After releasing their original song “Somebody Does,” in 2021, the track topped the iTunes chart and Tigirlily Gold was signed to Monument Records. They released their self-titled, debut EP in July 2021, working with multi-Grammy Award Winner Shane McAnally, and hit the road with artists like Walker Hayes and Ashley McBryde. Now, the powerhouse duo has embarked on a new musical chapter with their EP, Blonde –a deeply personal project that includes tales of love and loss alongside powerful anthems and songs of female empowerment. Their debut single at country radio, “Shoot Tequila,” reached the Top 40 and found viral success with millions of views across social media, and millions of streams across platforms. Their much anticipated follow up single “I Tried A Ring On” is at Country radio now. After making their Grand Ole Opry debut and performing to a national audience on the “TODAY Show,” Tigirlily Gold is ready to bring girl group energy back to country.

Ian Munsick’s ‘Voices of the West’ Garners Award Recognition

Two Award Wins, Four Film Festival Selections & Counting

Awarded Best Feature Documentary at Angeles Film Festival

& Best Documentary at C47 Film Festival

The Tennessean noted Voices of the West is
“essential to maintain and humanize the tie to Western culture”

When Wyoming native Ian Munsick created the concept of White Buffalo for his sophomore album, it expanded far beyond simply curating another collection of songs. With the White Buffalo representing a sacred symbol for the plains tribes of North America, representing prosperity and rebirth, the album’s name saw Munsick undertaking a responsibility to represent his homeland and the people who reside there in an authentic way.

In doing so, Munsick created a documentary to compliment the project, White Buffalo: Voices of the West – casting the spotlight on friends whose stories often go unheard – which was released in January to Apple iTunes, Apple, Google Play, Kanopy (Libraries), Microsoft, Vudu, YouTube Rentals and Amazon TVOD.

Now, just shy of four months after its release, Voices of the West is an award-winning film, with two awards and four Film Festival selections to-date. Named Best Feature Documentary at Angeles Film Festival and Best Documentary at C47 Film Festival; Voices of the West was also selected to be in Arizona International Film Festival, EQUUS International Film Festival, Kansas City FilmFest International and Riverside International Film Festival.

“So much about what makes Wyoming and Montana special are the things most folks don’t know about. The mystery that surrounds that part of the country is part of what makes it so captivating,” states Munsick. “Native American culture has an enormous influence on western and cowboy culture, yet hardly ever gets the recognition it deserves. We are very proud and honored to share some of these stories in Voices of the West and, hopefully, bring more appreciation to a population that rarely gets it.”

Spanning nearly an hour, the film delves into conversations with Pro Buckin’ Horse producer and entrepreneur from the Blackfoot Tribe, Dougie Hall; rancher, horse trainer and actor from the Crow Tribe, Stephen Yellowtail; cowgirl from the Blackfeet Nation, Sammy Jo Bird; and Munsick as the four explore the modern-day relationship between cowboys, ranchers and Native American tribes – and how they often rely on each other to live off the land out west.

Hailed by HITS Daily Double and The New Yorker alike for putting the “western back in country,” Munsick released his full-length sophomore album White Buffalo in April 2023, earning accolades from Billboard, American Songwriter, People, MusicRow and more. Grammy.com remarked, “Munsick's ability to turn his Western upbringing into relatable sentiments is the epitome of what makes him special… his passion for his homeland — from the culture to the people — rings through in both the lyrics and the musicality.”

The album’s deluxe version, White Buffalo (Introduce You To God), is available now HERE.

About Ian Munsick:
A native son of Wyoming, Ian Munsick painted a stampeding, spirited portrait of the American West with his sophomore album White Buffalo, out now. Spanning unfiltered tales of romance and ranch life, hard-working anthems with honkytonk hooks and mountain-time odes to family and forever-young fun, it builds upon the spacious roots-pop beauty he introduced on his major label debut, Coyote Cry. Now, Munsick is preparing to release a deluxe version of the album, including five new tracks, titled White Buffalo: Introduce You To God on April 5, 2024. Over the past four years, Munsick has accumulated nearly half a BILLION global streams and a host of accolades. He has been named an “Artist to Watch” by Spotify, CMT, Fender, MusicRow and most recently was named a Martin Showcase Artist. A seasoned entertainer, having grown up tending cattle by day and playing music in a family band each night, Munsick toured recently alongside country music superstars Morgan Wallen and Cody Johnson, and will serve as direct support for select dates of Lainey Wilson’s Country’s Cool Again tour this year, while simultaneously headlining his own Boots, Buckles & Bolos Tour. The Warner Music Nashville recording artist and multi-instrumentalist is representing his home, and its special cast of people, like never before. The first release from White Buffalo, standout duet “Long Live Cowgirls” (with Cody Johnson), hit No. 1 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown, was named one of Amazon Music’s Best Country Songs of 2022 and recently received RIAA Gold-certification alongside “Long Haul” off his debut album Coyote Cry. Fans of Ian Munsick will always find an open heart, natural awe and plainspoken honesty as he rides on… bringing the West to the rest. Online at IanMunsick.com.

COLIN STOUGH CAN’T MOVE ON IN “MAKES TWO OF US” MUSIC VIDEO

19 Recordings/BMG Nashville artist Colin Stough can’t get an ex off his mind in the official music video for “Makes Two of Us.”

“The music video for ‘Makes Two of Us’ is about how your mind keeps wandering to your ex after a breakup. So, in the clip, you see these two characters living their daily lives while constant flashes of memories between them keep happening,” shares Stough. “It shows how often you’re just doing whatever, yet you find yourself completely lost in thought – thinking about the other person. It starts happening so often that you get to a point where you’re just kind of like, ‘Well, if I can’t get ‘em off my mind, what could it hurt to just go there again?’”

Directed by David Dutton with DP Alan Fisher, the Mississippi native stepped back into a real-life job he had during high school as a welder for the footage shot at Glenn Machine Works in Columbus, MS. The strong visuals add to the explosive temptation of the on-again-off-again romance as depicted in the roller-coaster lyrics penned by Stough with Alex Maxwell and Cole Taylor. Intrusive thoughts capture a conflicted heart caught in a feedback loop of heartbreak and loneliness, and about to give in just one more time.

Showcasing a complex artist-writer who continues to hone his lyrical craftsmanship, the pitch-black production from Maxwell further helps put the growing urge in sonic terms – while also eclipsing the power of Stough’s Promiseland EP debut. With a heavy-handed Rock foundation, distorted guitars thunder alongside pounding drums and streaks of steel guitar lightning, but Stough weaves in tender moments to explore the emotional conflict as well – all while his volcanic Southern vocal fights confusing signals. On the one hand, he should resist what’s surely the start of another toxic cycle. But on the other, the craving for connection is real, and, hopefully, coming from both sides.

With more new music promised soon, Stough’s stacking music festival appearances this summer like CMA Fest 2024 on June 8 on the Hard Rock Stage in Nashville, TN. The same day, the Season 21 finalist on American Idol will also join a program at Fan Fair X inside Music City Center on the CMA Close Up Stage for “Idol Hour with Chayce Beckham, HunterGirl, Colin Stough and ‘American Idol’ ‘24 Winner and Runner-Up.” Find additional details here.

ABOUT COLIN STOUGH:
While Country Rock phenom and Gattman, Mississippi, native Colin Stough is only knocking on the door to his twenties, he has traversed a long journey in a few short years – starting with his debut EP Promiseland, released in the fall of 2023. After learning to play guitar at 8 years old, Stough first pursued his artistic dreams at 10, boldly trading childhood possessions for his first guitar at a local pawn shop – an instrument he still plays to this day. After graduating high school, the naturally gifted singer and self-taught songwriter began working full-time as an HVAC technician, before his mother convinced him to audition for American Idol. Impressing judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie, Stough stunned viewers and soon built a thriving fan base, finishing third on Season 21 of the show in 2022. He spent the ensuing months writing and recording original music, while also touring nationwide to put his blowtorch vocal and guitar-slinging edge on full display. After signing with 19 Recordings/BMG Nashville, his distinctive mix of Southern Rock distortion and pure-Country style has helped Stough’s music rack up more than 19.8 MILLION global on-demand streams. Stough has headlined across the country and opened for established artists like Chase Matthew, Kidd G, and Drake White.

We've fully embraced the idea of writing as a collective, exploring every member's ideas, experiences and formed them all together to create what we think is our most ambitious album yet. We wanted to explore the concept of African folklore on this album and based a lot of the songs off of old stories found in poems, books and even through word of mouth from our vocalist Lwandile's older family members.”

“The word Entabeni means 'The Mountain' in the African language Isizulu. It explores the concept of initiation in the different tribes and cultures that practice it. Cynic Release Audiotree Session

Putting your creative process into words is difficult, especially if you're as forward-thinking as CYNIC. But after 30+ years, weathering hurricanes, teenage angst, homophobia and the tragic loss of their legendary rhythm section has given Paul Masvidal sage-like insight into the band's celestial voyage.

Paul recently touched down at Audiotree Studios to talk about his journey. He and his interstellar bandmates also performed songs from Cynic's groundbreaking discography, including "Adam's Murmur" off the newly re-issued Traced in Air.

Traced in Air changed the game for Cynic, much like their landmark album Focus did years before. The band's precedent-setting fusion of progressive music and mind-bending spiritual lyrics took the listener on an entirely new journey, solidifying their place as boundary-pushing pioneers.

Traced in Air is now being reissued on vinyl by Season of Mist.

Available formats
12" Vinyl Gatefold (Black)
12" Colored Vinyl Gatefold (Pink, purple and white marbled)

Praise for Traced in Air

“On the basis of Traced in Air, more so than its 1993 predecessor Focus, Cynic should be understood not so much alongside any metal bands but along with the radical harmonic progressives in the last 45 years of pop and jazz: composers like Milton Nascimento, the Beach Boys or Pat Metheny." - The New York Times

"Where would we be without Cynic? Where would Cynic be without Traced In Air? I don’t want to imagine that world. 2008’s LP by the crown princes of progressive metal set the high watermark for progressive metal in the new millennium, one that has arguably still not been surpassed." - Everything is Noise

"The album is sonicaly heavier than Focus, but no less overt in its prominent jazz influence, with tracks like “Evolutionary Sleeper” showing they could defy time and be the band from the past and a band from the future at the same time." - Treble Zine, who listed Traced in Air among the 10 Essential Sci-Fi Metal Albums.

“As liberally and recklessly as the term "progressive" is regularly applied to any sort of rock music that breaks with conventional genre templates, there are certain bands and albums for which it still feels not only necessary, for lack of better definitions, but actually appropriate. Cynic and their 1993 watershed, Focus, are a perfect case in point. ... In short, those expecting a mere sequel to Focus will be mildly disappointed (but should have known better), and those worried about Traced in Air's altogether brief, 35-minute length should rest assured that it is easily offset by the sheer density of strange and beautiful musical nuances layered within, and the time required to absorb them all. And ultimately, the album does Cynic's legacy justice precisely because it challenges the listener to comprehend, by opening more doors than it closes and posing more questions than obvious answers -- and what could be more "progressive" than that?” - All Music

Get excited for Traced in Air all over again with this teaser video that the band filmed back in 2008, plus a live video from the 2010 Traced in Air tour.

Cynic’s continual state of development has met its share of challenges over the years, hurdles that threatened to dismantle the entity’s forward surge. Yet through hurricanes, breakups, and assorted acrimony both personal and existential, it remains inspired to create.

Their name is synonymous with what it means to be truly progressive in music. Cynic’s top-tier performance acumen and cerebral/spiritual/yogic themes finds them inhabiting a corner of the musical spectrum all their own. Their Venn diagram shows intersections with death metal, prog rock, thrash metal, experimental, new age, jazz fusion, and a myriad of other sonic expressions.

Debut album, Focus (1993), is a certified classic. Although that era ended with transformation into the short-lived Portal, and then a further splinter toward Aeon Spoke, Cynic’s reunion-era has found them embraced in a way that proves how ahead of the times they were in the ‘90s. Through monuments such as the Traced in Air (2008) and Kindly Bent to Free Us (2014) albums, the Carbon-Based Anatomy and Re-Traced EPs, and a surprising rebirth with the “Humanoid” single of 2018, the Cynic legacy remains untarnished. Yet early in the creation cycle for their fourth full-length album, they experienced horrible events that tested the entity’s resolve.

The year 2020 will go down in history as a tremendously difficult time for the global human population. For the Cynic family, the struggle was not restricted to a pandemic. It was two utterly senseless losses that threw the band’s immediate concerns into the background: the premature deaths of drummer Sean Reinert in January, at age 48, and bassist Sean Malone in December, at age 50, were shocking and unthinkable.

Reinert and Malone heard elements of what ended up on Cynic's fourth and latest album. Slowly, methodically, and with much careful deliberation, Masvidal completed an album titled Ascension Codes, to honor the memory of his fallen band mates. And while the album honors the lives and contributions of Reinert and Malone, it also pushes Cynic forward for its own sake and through its own will to live. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth. It is, throughout its 49 minutes, a vivid and highly cosmic journey into the very core of every impulse this band has ever explored.

Audiotree Lineup:
Paul Masvidal – Vocals and Guitars
Max Phelps (Exist, Death to All) – Guitars and Vocals
Brandon Giffin (The Faceless, The Zenith Passage) – Bass

Innovative instrumental metal powerhouse intervals have released their latest track "circuit bender" and the official visualizer. The song is taken from the band's forthcoming new album 'memory palace', out next Friday, May 17. Speaking about today's release, intervals ringleader Aaron Marshall shared:

I’m so stoked to drop one last track from 'memory palace' before it all comes out next week! "circuit bender" is one of those rare tunes that just sort of wrote itself and I love that it showcases the heavier, and more production forward side of the record. Still plenty of different vibes to explore on the album, when it drops next week and I can’t wait for it to all be out in full. Another crazy visualizer for this one on our YouTube channel too for those who have been enjoying that side of things as well. Hope everyone digs!

intervals exist as the unbound and unapologetic creative expression of Aaron Marshall. The progressive guitar rock faithful revere Marshall for his virtuoso chops and melodic prowess in equal measure. His distinctive character and musical personality shine throughout the heady, catchy, and transcendent instrumental compositions found across the ever-growing catalog of intervals albums.

The music is a window into the Toronto, Ontario, guitarist’s mind, body, and soul. Songs like Libra5-HTPBelvedereI’m Awake, and mnemonic rank among the most popular in the genre. Metal Injection describes intervals as “catchy-as-hell shred.” Sonic Perspectives declared the band’s fourth album, 2020’s 'Circadian', “strikes the perfect balance between shred, songwriting, and melody.”

A trio of gifted touring and recording musicians surround Marshall as they collectively share intervals’ songs with the world: drummer Nathan Bulla, bassist Jacob Mansky, and guitarist Travis LeVrier. They consistently stun audiences, including on celebrated treks with SpiritboxTesseracTAnimals As LeadersPolyphiaPeripheryProtest The Hero, and Between The Buried And Me

The earliest intervals offerings, including two EPs and 2014’s full-length debut, A Voice Within (the sole album with lead vocals), were decidedly heavy and aggressive. Heralded by MetalSucks as “fantastic” and “lacking virtually nothing,” 2015’s The Shape of Colour ventured in a new direction. intervals' fourth album was appropriately titled The Way Forward. “Employing many of the same techniques as technical progressive metal but in a major-key, upbeat framework has been intervals’ calling card,” wrote Metal Hammer. “[The Way Forward] is a purer distillation of [Marshall’s] aim.”

Circadian marked intervals’ first collaboration with Sam Guiana (Silverstein, Neck Deep, Holding Absence). memory palace brilliantly celebrates the best of intervals’ past, present, and future. The album is diverse, uplifting, and crushingly heavy. Also produced by Guaianamemory palace includes collaborations with KOAN Sound (“neurogenesis”), J3PO (“galaxy brain”), and OBLVYN (“lacuna”).

Fiercely independent and precision-focused but never lacking in uplifting vibe and fun, intervals continues to grow from Marshall’s strong roots in authenticity, instinct, and trusting one’s gut. - Ryan Downey
