CRASH HARMONY rewinds the clock on 'Nobody Asked for This' LP, resurrecting the spirit of 80s' Yale rock

In the flurry that has erupted for NYC indie rock outfit Crash Harmony surrounding the release of their debut full-length album 'Nobody Asked For This' 30+ years on from initially forming, the quartet share their short but impactful mini-doc album trailer, filmed at Magic Door Recording in Montclair, NJ - the very studio where they recorded this long-awaited release.

Crash Harmony is made up of Dave Derby (vocals, guitars), Mike Potenza (guitars, keyboards, vocals), Jon Nighswander (bass, vocals), and Nils Nadeau (drums, percussion, vocals). Formed in 1986 in New Haven, CT while attending Yale University, the band played their last gig in May 1988. They hadn’t played together again until 2022 - a reunion that would see them rekindle the spirit of their college days and set their minds to finally releasing their earlier material.

Dave went on to The Dambuilders (and then Gramercy Arms), Mike served on The Anderson Council, Jon left for Europe, and Nils wandered north. But no matter where they went, Crash Harmony still kind of mattered. Eventually, they had to come back. They had to return to that place so, decades later, Crash Harmony reformed to make a new record of old songs - a rock-and-roll reenactment of the New Haven scene that changed them forever.

Exemplifying the 10 tracks on this record are the singles 'Velour Goddess' and 'Orange Background', the latter of which Nils Nadeau describes as "a letter from our college selves to our grown selves and also, in a way, from Generation X to what we have now in the world".

Now available on vinyl and digitally via Magic Door Record Label, this album was mixed and mastered by renowned producer Ray Ketchem (Guided by Voices, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, Luna). Recorded by Ketchem and Dave Derby in NYC, Ketchem produced it together with Crash Harmony.

Yale rock - an oxymoron too good to be dismissed, meeting as undergraduates swept up in the current of something more exciting than college – a New Haven music scene that was real. While college was for figuring out what you wanted to be, college rock was for figuring out what you wanted to sound like. Crash Harmony was absorbing everything, and trying it all on for size at house parties, frat houses, and clubs throughout New England.

Like their name, the record is an orchestrated pileup of long-ago influences that collided in the chambers of their broken young hearts and have again wriggled free from their throats and amps, pop gems humming like cicadas and dancing for the pure joy of being alive again.

If you were fortunate enough to ever be part of a vibrant music scene, then you know how intoxicating, how important, how finally cool you felt to live on this newly discovered planet. It was pulsing with energy and possibility, teeming with talent and artists and then, the jaw drop of realizing your planet was actually part of an entire galaxy of scenes vibrating around the country. A truth revealed that rock legends were not just the leather-pantsed strutters on the national stage but dishwashing oddballs strumming in your neighbor's backyard - heroes you could actually meet, try to impress, emulate and maybe one day open for, if dreams could come true. And, for Crash Harmony, they did for a while.

Crash Harmony is fortunate to get a second wind - then, as now, experiencing the exhilaration of being part of a vibrant music scene and that sense of belonging, that excitement and the possibilities that come from being surrounded by talented musicians. The realization that local scenes are connected to a larger musical universe, where rock legends could be found in unexpected places. This allure and inspiration and, ultimately, the realization of one's youthful dreams are all drivers. For Crash Harmony, these dreams have finally became a reality.

'Nobody Asked for This' is out now on vinyl and digitally on all platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.

TAK MATSUMOTO GROUP New Album 'TMG II' OUT NOW via Frontiers Music Srl

TAK MATSUMOTO GROUP (TMG), the internationally acclaimed project formed by guitar virtuoso Tak Matsumoto, returns with the new album 'TMG II,' out now via Frontiers Music Srl.

After a 20-year hiatus, TMG returns with original members Tak Matsumoto (guitarist and member of the Japanese rock superstars B’z), Jack Blades (Night Ranger), and Eric Martin(Mr. Big), reigniting the powerhouse trio’s signature rock sound. Originally launched in 2004, TMG wowed fans worldwide with their unique fusion of hard-hitting rock and oriental influences. Now, after two decades, they’re set to do it all again.

Tak Matsumoto explains how the project came to life:

“Twenty-one years ago, I met Jack and Eric at The Fillmore in San Francisco. I suggested we collaborate, and that’s how TMG was born. We came together in LA to write our first single, 'OH JAPAN', which sparked the creation of our debut album, 'TMG I', and an incredible tour throughout Japan, ending with a memorable performance at the Budokan. Though we’ve stayed in touch, life pulled us in different directions, and two decades slipped by. In 2022, I reached out with a proposal to reunite.

“Now, in 2024, TMG has completed our latest album, 'TMG II,' featuring the talented drummer Matt Sorum. We’re excited to share this album, a blend of Japanese and American musical sensibilities. We hope you enjoy it!”, adds Matsumoto.

Buy / Listen to 'TMG II' HERE

About the new album, Jack Blades comments:

“'TMG ll' has a fresh and alive feel born out of the friendship and camaraderie that Tak, Ericand I share with each other. Throw in a healthy dose of my good buddy Matt Sorum on drums and you have a hell of a recipe for some seriously kick ass rock n roll. The songs tell the stories, the music rocks the soul, and woven throughout the fabric is the amazing guitar playing of Tak Matsumoto---a true “Guitar Hero”. Enjoy the ride!”

“I was the singer of the Tak Matsumoto group in 2004. We had an incredible experience, writing / recording a heavy melodic hard rock state of the art sounding record that went platinum, sold out tour all over Japan, It was perfect timing and one of the biggest highlights of my life”, states Eric Martin.

Tak Matsumoto is the guitarist, main composer, producer of B’z!, the best music selling Rock act in Japan! So here we are, 20 years later… This time we have powerhouse drummer Matt Sorum from Guns & Roses /Velvet Revolver/ The Cult and B’z support guitarist / chorus Yukihide ‘YT’ Takiyama to round out the group”, continues Martin. “'TMG ll' has got a Japanese / American rock feel to it and it’s badass. We are on tour right now in Japan and killing it. I am hanging with the coolest musicians on the planet… Life is good. The record… is really good!”

Tak Matsumoto originally formed TMG in 2004, bringing together rock legends Eric Martinand Jack Blades. Their debut album, 'TMG I,' was a smash hit, topping the Oricon National Chart and spawning the single “Oh Japan – Our Time Is Now”, which became a theme song for Japanese television.

The group embarked on a sold-out tour across Japan, culminating in a legendary finale at the Nippon Budokan. TMG’s blend of Eastern and Western rock influences resonated with fans and critics alike, making them a force to be reckoned with in the world of hard rock.

This new work not only features Matsumoto's solid and delicate guitar playing, but also Eric Martin's vocals, which emotionally sing fantastic melodies, and Jack Blades' bass lines, which aggressively liven up the song.

Listening to the album, the fans have the impression that the past 20 years, in which each member has continued to be active, was not a hiatus for the band, but a preparation period for the unique TMG rock sound to gain even more power: a full-fledged 2nd album!

The recording line-up for this album includes Matt Sorum, (Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver) on drums, and Yukihide “YT” Takiyama, who is well known for recording and live support for B'z, on guitar and arrangements.

The album opener “Crash Down Love” has an impressive and catchy melody that seems to symbolize the new TMG sound, while “Guitar Hero”, whose lyrics were written by Jack Blades with Tak in mind, maybe the best example of the new sound for the international markets.

“I was able to create a truly exciting and convincing piece of work with my wonderful band members”, says Tak. The Japanese metal stars BABYMETAL, appear as a special guest in a killer and groovy Dance-Metal song “Eternal Flames” and their duet with Eric Martin is truly unique and pleasant.

TMG are:

Tak Matsumoto - Guitar

Jack Blades - Bass & Vocal

Eric Martin – Vocal

Matt Sorum - Drums

OPETH’s highly anticipated and critically acclaimed 14th studio album 'The Last Will & Testament,' was officially released on November 22 via Reigning Phoenix Music / Moderbolaget and is now charting internationally.

The current positions can be found below:

Order ‘The Last Will & Testament’: HERE

Opeth's fourteenth album was written by Åkerfeldt, with lyrics conferred with Klara Rönnqvist Fors (The Heard, ex-Crucified Barbara). ‘The Last Will & Testament’ was co-produced by Åkerfeldt and Stefan Boman (Ghost, The Hellacopters), engineered by Boman, Joe Jones (Killing Joke, Robert Plant), and Opeth, with Boman, Åkerfeldt, and the rest of Opeth mixing at Atlantis and Hammerthorpe Studios in Stockholm. The strings on ‘The Last Will & Testament’ were arranged by Åkerfeldt and returning prog friend Dave Stewart (Egg, Khan) and conducted by Stewart at Angel Studios in London. Not one to miss a beat, visual artist Travis Smith returns to the fold, crafting his 11th cover, a haunting "photograph" reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick's infamous "Overlook Hotel" photograph. Miles Showell (ABBA, Queen) also revisits mastering and vinyl lacquer cutting at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Åkerfeldt rolls out the red carpet for storied flautist and Jethro Tull main man Ian Anderson. Not only do Anderson's signature notes fly on "§4" and "§7", he narrates on "§1", "§2", "§4", and "§7". Joining Anderson, Europe's Joey Tempest lends a backing vocal hand on "§2”, while Åkerfeldt's youngest daughter, Mirjam Åkerfeldt, is the disembodied voice in "§1".

‘The Last Will & Testament ‘is gripping from start to finish, jaw-dropping inside and out, representing some of Opeth's finest material to date. Just as Opeth welcomed many into its distressed arms over the years, the Swedes again deliver on the promise that great music always tells a compelling story—this time with growls.

Moreover, OPETH has landed the the cover story for Decibel Magazine's current December 2024issue! The in-depth interview with the band was conducted by journalist Chris Dick while the photos were shot by Ester Segarra. The issue can be found HERE.

"The theme of this EP is "Tokyo" the birthplace of our music. Each track is pure chaos and pop, bursting with everything that makes HANABIE. unique! It’s a work that delivers total satisfaction—like a full-course meal for your ears. We love the word "Bucchigiri" for its strong sound and energy. With this EP, we want to go bucchigiri from Tokyo to the world!"

HANABIE. vocalist and guitarist Matsuri commented:

"This album was created with great care, cherishing both the raw passion of our early days and how we've evolved to where we are now! With all the activities in Japan and the many overseas tours we embarked on, 2024 has been an incredible year, and I believe this EP is the culmination of it all. Centered around the theme of "Tokyo" it’s filled with love, so I hope you'll listen to it over and over again!"

Bassist Hettsu also shared:

"Over the past year, traveling around the world has made me appreciate Tokyo even more! This EP was created through those emotions and each track feels like its own protagonist, packed with songs that are truly worth listening to. Let’s listen to this EP and charge full throttle in life!"

Drummer Chika stated:

"I've been with HANABIE. as their drummer, Chika, for about a year and a half now also since moving to Tokyo finally gotten used to life here. So now what I believe is perfect timing, I arranged all the drum parts for the tracks on this EP! It's a collection of six incredibly diverse songs, so I hope you'll listen to the whole EP! By the way, don't you think "Bucchigiri" is such a fun word to say?"

The band has previously dropped "OTAKU Lovely Densetsu" and their most recent banger, "Metamorphose!", which together have amassed nearly 3 million views on YouTube and over 2.6 million streams on Spotify alone. No Cure Share "Hang Me From the Bible Belt" Video — WATCH // Band Drops EP Today

NO CURE — comprised of Blaythe Steuer [vocals], Aesop Mongo [guitar], Kyle Ray [guitar], Jake Murnane [bass], and Duncan Newey [drums] — have dropped their concept EP I Hope I Die Here , December 6, via SharpTone Records. Grab the eight-track EP here, which will include a limited run of double 7" vinyl, cassettes, and a CD.

Today, they have shared the video for "Hang Me From the Bible Belt," which features Gideon's Daniel McWhorter. Watch it below.

"I am so proud of this song," says Steuer. "I sat on the intro riff for a couple years and I'm so happy it finally found its place. This song came together so well and it says what I've needed to say my whole life. Thank you so much to Dan singing on this with us."

On the EP, the band delivers an inimitable hybrid of gritty basement-bred hardcore boosted by death metal proficiency and explosive unpredictability. The EP also features guests on every track. All features are highlighted in the track listing below. "Every track features someone that has made an undeniable mark on Alabama hardcore over the years," the band explains about inviting so many of its friends to contribute to the release. "We do not expect you to recognize every name on this record, and that's the point."

As for the EP as a whole, the band has stated, "I Hope I Die Here is a love letter to Alabama and the Southeastern experience. It is an acknowledgment of suffering, and a proclamation of strength. This record is conceptually driven and more musically diverse than our previous EPs, on purpose. There is a distinct reason for each song to exist. We approach many topics, including what it's like to grow up under the boot of religion, fraternity culture, the dark side of a beloved landmark, local ecological exploitation, and more. We do not believe the world needs any more songs about how craaaaaazyyy of a guy you are, how much you hate your town, or how your ex was such a *checks notes* bitch for breaking up with you because you cheated on her."

Expect more from No Cure in 2025.

Joe Henry Releases Remastered Edition of "Invisible Hour"

Over the course of this year, Joe Henry set out to re-release three of his most acclaimed albums that defined his coming-of-age as a record maker. With today’s release of Invisible Hour, the momentous reissue trilogy now comes to an end.

Released for the first time in 2014, Invisible Hour followed a very busy period for Joe Henry who produced songs for Bonnie Raitt's Grammy-winning 2012 album Slipstream, and albums for the likes of Billy Bragg, Rodney Crowell and Mary Karr, Natalie Duncan, Hugh Laurie and Over the Rhine. In his own body of work, "Invisible Hour" was preceded by Henry’s acclaimed records Blood From Stars (2009) and Reverie (2011).

"After courting the particular chaos that was both Blood From Stars and Reverie, I heard an ask that accompanied the new songs arriving that would ultimately become the album Invisible Hour; and the ask was simply that I allow beauty, wherever it occurred, to remain just that: beautiful. No need to send my voice chasing through a haunted house; no requirement to smear anyone’s lipstick out of hand." Henry reflects.

Working together with recording engineer Ryan Freeland and several other of his closest collaborators, Henry brought the songs to life in his studio at The Garfield House in South Pasadena, California.

"I wanted instead to let the songs stand in the full light of their afternoon; didn’t want to create the impression that any production concept stood between a song and its receiver.”, Henry says about the musical direction of the record. “It was the single direction I offered engineer Ryan Freeland: that he was free and encouraged to let as much of that available light into the picture as possible, obscuring nothing."

As of Friday , the reissue edition of Invisible Hour is available in stores as 180g black double-vinyl in a high-quality gatefold jacket, CD Digipak and for digital download and streaming. It features all album tracks in remastered sound as well as a special selection of bonus material, including alternate versions and demos.

Access Invisible Hour here.

In addition to Invisible Hour, Henry’s reissue trilogy also includes his 2007 record Civilians and the 2009 album Blood From Stars. All three reissue-albums are available now and pressed on 180g double-vinyl for the very first time. Additionally, they are available as CD Digipak, for streaming and digital download via earMUSIC.

Zombie Metal Sensation DOMINUM Drops New Single “We Are Forlorn” + Video!

Zombie metal band DOMINUM unveils their new single, “We Are Forlorn”, offering the next taste of their upcoming second album, 'The Dead Don't Die,' out December 27, 2024 via Napalm Records! The album’s massive opening track invites the listener on a dark and dramatic journey, underlining the heavier metal influences that Dr. Dead and his Zombies introduce on their second full-length - contributing to an even more bombastic and darker sound than on their debut.

“We Are Forlorn” sets the perfect tone for a sinister atmosphere to run shivers down one’s spine. It's accented by trenchant riffing, thundering drums and a matchless vocal performance by Dr. Dead. Together with a visually palpable official music video, “We Are Forlorn” marks a standout offering, yet only a preview for what’s to come when DOMINUM evoke the zombie apocalypse at the end of the year with 'The Dead Don't Die'!

Dr. Dead on the new single “We Are Forlorn”:

“Something wicked has awakened. My zombies are more dangerous, more terrifying, and filled with new power. But their transformation didn’t come easily – under the cloak of midnight, in a secret graveyard, a ritual of shadows took place. A single touch of the secret elixir, and they buried themselves anew... What happened next? You’ll have to see it for yourself.

“'We Are Forlorn'! A name that echoes darkness, but at its heart, it’s about standing together. 'We Are Forlorn'—yet we rise united."

Watch the Official Music Video for “We Are Forlorn” Below

DOMINUM on the upcoming album 'The Dead Don’t Die':

"Hey, living people. Exactly one year ago, our journey began, and now it’s time for a new chapter. In the darkest nights, I buried my fallen zombies and brought them back to life under the full moon. But the real story is still to come. Stay calm, stay close (forever—pun intended), and I’ll tell you everything soon. Just remember one thing: the dead don’t really die."

Yours,

Dr. Dead

DOMINUM entered the scene in 2023 with a blast and hit the top 20 of the Official German Album Charts immediately with their debut album, 'Hey Living People.'

Massive album opening track “We Are Forlorn” invites the listener on a dark and dramatic journey that continues full-speed on “One Of Us”. Irresistibly catchy “Don't Get Bitten By The Wrong Ones” features DOMINUM’s trademark eerie yet tongue-in-cheek lyrics, continuing straight from where the band left off with their first album. The monumental title track “The Dead Don’t Die” is another highlight of 'The Dead Don’t Die' - a clever take on a classic children’s lullaby leads into brilliantly dark storytelling, that heavy instrumentation and a multifaceted vocal performance take to the next level.

Feuerschwanz and dArtagnan mastermind Ben Metzner is featured in this song. In addition to the album’s 10 original tracks, DOMINUM continues delivering the exciting cover of Scorpions’ classic hit “Rock You Like A Hurricane.” Some formats come with the bonus CD 'Live at Graspop Metal Meeting 2024' which includes their acclaimed performance at Graspop 2024.

Get Your Copy of 'The Dead Don't Die' NOW

Since the release of the first album in December 2023, DOMINUM has played nearly sold-out tours supporting big names such as Bruce Dickinson, Avantasia, Feuerschwanz, and Peyton Parrish in Europe, as well as convincing international audiences at summer festivals such as Graspop and Rock Harz.

DOMINUM will kick off their first full headlining tour right in time for the release of 'The Dead Don’t Die,' bringing their new horror stories to life on stage for the first time, after supporting Feuerschwanz on the second leg of their Fegefeuer tour again.

Blackened Death Metal Masters THULCANDRA Presents New Video Clip From Very First Live Album 'Live Demise,' Out This Friday On Napalm Records!

Blackened death metal masters THULCANDRA will release their first-ever live album, 'Live Demise,' that celebrates the first chapter and early days of the band!

'Live Demise' was recorded live in 2011 at a hometown show in Munich, Germany, and features true gems that the band hasn't performed in more than a decade, all with the original line-up consisting of Sebastian Ludwig, Tobias Ludwig, Matthias Landes (Dark Fortress, Noneuclid), and Steffen Kummerer (Obscura, Death, Cynic).

Following a video clip for the previously-released live version of "Fallen Angel's Dominion", today, THULCANDRA is premiering "Night Eternal (Live)"!

Band mastermind, Steffen Kummerer, comments:

"With 'Night Eternal' we present you the opening track of our debut album 'Fallen Angel’s Dominion' (2010), taken off our first ever live release 'Live Demise.' Tracked at a hometown show in Munich, Germany a decade ago, we celebrate the early days of the band in a raw and energetic setting, showcasing each member on fire. See you all on our upcoming European run with Sacramentum at a venue near you!"

The video clip for "Night Eternal (Live)" is now streaming HERE

THULCANDRA’s rise to power ignited when the four-piece unleashed their debut album, 'Fallen Angel’s Dominion', upon metaldom in 2010. Followed by their 2011 masterpiece, 'Under a Frozen Sun', 'Live Demise' contains brutal-as-hell classics from both records, like "Black Flags Of Hate", "In Blood And Fire" and "The Spirit Of The Night", aptly capturing the spirit and high-voltage energy of both the crowd and band. Ragers such as "Night Eternal" and "Fallen Angel's Dominion" perfectly showcase the band's raw and intense performances in their early days, and prove how THULCANDRA has quickly stepped up as one of the leading bands of their genre!

Due to the pandemic, which was subsequently followed by their latest studio album 'Hail The Abyss', 'Live Demise' could not be released alongside THULCANDRA's 20th anniversary as originally planned. Now, with mixing and mastering by Dan Swanö (Katatonia, Edge Of Sanity, Dissection) and cover artwork designed by Herbert Lochner, this very special release will become available in only strictly limited editions exclusively via Napalm Records and atTHULCANDRA's upcoming live shows - including their European co-headlining run with legendary Swedish black and death metal band Sacramentum with support from Nephylim. TESLA Release Acoustic Music Video; 'ALL ABOUT LOVE' EP Out Now Digitally and on Vinyl

Legendary rock band TESLA has unveiled the acoustic music video for their latest single, "All About Love." The track is part of their All About Love EP, which is now available as a special edition release on limited collector's 12" vinyl.

What you will hold in your hands is a one of a kind collectors edition 12” VINYL EP that showcases TESLA’s new song “All About Love” in the three formats that TESLA the band is famously known for: ELECTRIC, ACOUSTIC, and LIVE performances. Multiple versions of this new song are presented here on this EP.

Music lovers will state that a great “song” will sound great played in any of these formats, so TESLA’s Brian Wheat and Frank Hannon have teamed up to produce this 12” Vinyl EP of their new single  “All About Love” showcasing these different versions of the song.

Captured by Brian Wheat in his upstate NY recording studio, there is an electric version that shows how the band performs the song in full force, as well as two stripped down acoustic versions that showcase the dynamics of his mixes. Thus, Jeff Keith’s heartfelt lyrics about sharing love can be felt and to honor TESLA’s tradition of  adding an acoustic instrumental to their love ballads, Frank Hannon recorded here a new classically influenced acoustic guitar solo piece titled “From The Heart” that is a nod to their 1987 hit “Love Song”.

Furthermore, to present the “live in concert”  element of TESLA, a rendition of "All About Love" segues into James Gang’s classic song "Walk Away", both were recorded live at a Las Vegas concert earlier this year. They are included here as bonus tracks!

That they are still roaring and soaring should be no surprise. That’s just how they are built. TESLA may have been born in the mid-80s, but their bluesy, soulful sound is strongly embedded in the roots of organic, authentic, 1970s rock and roll. The same roots that produced bands like Bad Company, Grand Funk Railroad, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith.

The ground started shaking in Sacramento, CA, in 1984; gold country that would soon be producing some platinum. They started out as City Kidd, until a suggested name change to TESLA, honoring the eccentric inventor Nikola Tesla who pioneered all things electrical. Their 1986 platinum debut album, Mechanical Resonance, included Top 40 hits “Modern Day Cowboy” and “Little Suzi.” 1989’s double-platinum The Great Radio Controversy included hits “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)” and “Love Song”. Suddenly, TESLA, who had been touring with bands such as Def Leppard and David Lee Roth, earned headlining status. In 1990, TESLA helped reshape the face of modern rock music by stripping down to the Five Man Acoustical Jam, an informal collection of their biggest hits peppered with rock and roll classics by the Beatles, Stones, and others. This album produced their biggest hit single to date, a cover of Five Man Electrical Band’s “Signs.” Other 90s albums from TESLA include platinum selling Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut. The band continues to record and release material including 9 new albums since 2000.

TESLA’s legacy is alive and well as they continue to record and sellout venues all over the world. As comfortable, rugged, and dependable as your favorite pair of boots, they endure. TESLA is a celebration of the greatest spirits of rock and roll.

Lovella Unveils Heartfelt New EP: Our Christmas Prayer

Emerging musical duo Lovella, composed of Josh and Merisa, are spreading holiday cheer with the release of their beautifully crafted EP, Our Christmas Prayer. This collection of timeless Christmas classics showcases the duo's angelic harmonies and heartfelt interpretations, making it the perfect soundtrack for the holiday season. The EP is available now through TLG, distributed by Virgin Music Group.

Reflecting on their journey as artists and partners, Josh and Merisa shared:

“When we got together there was this instantaneous connection that neither one of us expected to find and when we first started hanging out it was like we had been friends for years. We started Lovella a little after we started dating and quickly noticed that becoming a duo went hand in hand with starting a new relationship. We had to build trust, a respect for each other’s creative voices, allow ourselves to be vulnerable, to laugh at ourselves and at each other, to cry, allow each other to be mad and not take it personally and to appreciate how passionate we are about the music we create. Being a duo has had its own set of growing pains but experiencing and navigating these two relationships simultaneously has made both relationships stronger. That is the heart of our music. It is everything we’ve experienced; it is everything our families and friends have experienced. Our songs allow us to relive a moment and we love sharing that with you and hopefully no matter where someone is in their life, our music, our stories will resonate with all of you listening.“

For Josh and Merisa, the holidays hold a special significance. They explain:

"Since we've been together, like any couple you carry old traditions into your relationship and make new ones. Our special tradition together is singing Christmas songs! Singing these timeless hymns fills our hearts and always makes us feel a little closer with God during the holiday! We wanted to share a few of our favorites with you! Thank you for listening to us lend our voices to these Christmas classics! We hope you, your friends and family have the most beautiful holiday!"

Pete International Airport releases 'Sea of Eyes' EP feat. Alexander Hackett, Ride's Andy Bell, Holy Youth Movement & more

Pete International Airport presents their new 'Sea of Eyes' EP (aka 'The Lamplighters' EP) released via Portland-based label Little Cloud Records. This release comes hot on the trail the latest offering - the 'Sea of Eyes' GLOK Remix' by Ride legend Andy Bell.

Pete International Airport revolves around Peter G. Holmström of The Dandy Warhols and Sun Atoms, whose sonic odyssey through the dark underbelly of electronic rock invites listeners into a world of unexpected soundscapes, meticulously crafted to captivate the senses. PIA builds immersive and timeless soundscapes, in part owing to Holmström’s ability to curate and his penchant for dropping collaborators into challenging creative spaces - both virtual and actual - then letting them duke it out.

Earlier, PIA shared the original version of 'Sea of Eyes' featuring vocals by Alexander Hackett of Montreal dream-gaze outfit Pang Attack, along with an intriguing video by Italian director Francesca Bonci, and, most recently, the rave-inspired adrenaline-inducing 'Out Past The Razor Wire (HYM Post-Industrial Remix)' by long-term collaborator Holy Youth Movement.

The 5-track 'Sea of Eyes' EP was co-authored with and features vocals by Alexander Hackett. Apart from the remix by Andy Bell, the remixes created by Tom Smith (Holy Youth Movement) and long-time collaborator Daniel Sparks (omniscuro) entail a sonic whirlwind of excitement, which would have fit perfectly in such dynamic soundtracks as 'Hackers' or 'Snatch'.

“I really wanted to showcase Alexander Hackett’s vocal contributions to the record. There’s just this insane depth to his lyrics, and his voice is fantastic. The way the initial rollout of the album happened his songs weren’t the singles… I needed to do something to put that out there, and because I’m gonna be working with him in the future, it was something I wanted to do. It also was an excuse to reach out to Andy Bell and see if he’d do a remix and get some other friends involved," says Holmström.

“I always love hearing other people’s interpretations of the tracks and what their ears latch onto and where they take the track from there."

Mixed by Jeremy Sherrer at Spooky Electric Co. (Modest Mouse, The Shins, The Dandy Warhols) and mastered by Dave Coley at Elysian Mastering, most tracks were recorded at Air Traffic Control studio, and drums at The Trench Studios by The Dandy Warhols' sound engineer Gregg Williams.

The 'Sea of Eyes' EP is a logical progression of 'It Felt Like The End of the World' and the 'Tic Tac' 7" single, which boast the cream of the neo-psychedelic crop, including Slowdive's Rachel GoswellBJM's Anton Newcombe, Dion Lunadon (A Place To Bury Strangers), Cheap Trick's Tom Petersson, Dark Horses'  Lisa Elle, and members of Sun Atoms, Guiding Light and Hopewell.

On November 29, the 'Sea of Eyes' EP will be released on limited edition cassette and digitally via Spotify, Apple Music. and Bandcamp, where PIA's album 'It Felt Like The End of the World' is also available on deluxe double vinyl, CD and digitally and their 'Tic Tac' single with Rachel Goswell. can also be obtained on 7" vinyl.

Philadelpia's Tulipomania presents 'Absolution' LP & 'I've Been Told' video. New album released in lock-step with best-selling author Jeff VanderMeer

Philadelphia-based art-rock duo Tulipomania present their sixth album 'Absolution', inspired by an invitation from acclaimed author Jeff VanderMeer to contribute music as part of the publication of his latest novel 'Absolution', the surprise fourth volume in his award-winning 'Southern Reach' series.

This soundscape resonates with the complex energies enveloping VanderMeer’s novel, the author having invited the duo to create music inspired by 'Absolution' while still a work in progress. Hearing that VanderMeer took inspiration for the 'Absolution' novel from their 'Dreaming of Sleep' album, the duo enthusiastically accepted the challenge.

Alternately categorized as cult synth punks, glam-leaning, post-punk, art-rock and muscular chamber pop, Tulipomania is Tom Murray (lead vocals, synthesizer, electronic percussion) and Cheryl Gelover (synthesizer, background vocals). The 'Absolution' album includes four new tracks inspired by VanderMeer's new novel, plus ten alternate versions of the songs that originally sparked VanderMeer’s interest, reimagined as a cohesive sonic experience.

It's an exciting development for the duo to be involved in the Southern Reach Trilogy, with 'Absolution' being the brilliant, beautiful and terrifying final word on one of the most provocative and popular speculative fiction series of our time. An instant sensation, it has been celebrated by the New York Times, Stephen King and many others. With each volume climbing the bestsellers list, accruing awards, it was ultimately adapted in a movie - now a cult classic. The trilogy has now sold more than a million copies, securing its place in the pantheon of 21st century literature.

In the liner notes to the album, Jeff VanderMeer shares, "I remember being in the middle of the ecstatic visions that formed my novel 'Absolution' and discovering Tulipomania's music for the first time, around August of 2023 - this very album's doppelganger, in fact. The original mix of 'Dreaming of Sleep'. It felt like a revelation - hypnotic, pulsing music that got deep hooks into my brain, so I couldn't stop listening to the songs. Like a lighthouse's roving light, the songs felt like a beacon, and the recursive nature of the composition, the sense of a beating heart, a thick muscle at the core of them, combined with the surreal lyrics got deep into the novel's DNA. ... So I was really pleased that this opportunity for this wonderful contamination of (novel / album) to go the other way - the Absolution remix of 'Dreaming of Sleep', with four new Absolution tracks! I really love this band so much - to the point I've listened to and recommend their entire back catalogue - that it's an honor."

A sign of serendipity, the cover for this album was created by acclaimed artist Pablo Delcan, who also produced the artwork for the 10th anniversary editions of the Southern Reach Trilogy.

“It is a thrill to know that our music and lyrics were an inspiration for Jeff VanderMeer while he was working on his latest novel Absolution," says Tom Murray.

Cheryl Gelover adds, “Having the author crowned the ‘weird Thoreau’ entrust us with early versions of his newest novel Absolution was enormously enticing – knowing that he believed we could return with him to the world of Area X for the purpose of a cross-pollination is very exciting. We’re so glad we emerged from the journey with alternate versions of the ten tracks that originally inspired him, as well as four entirely new songs directly inspired by our immersion in the Southern Reach series and the latest novel in the series - Absolution.  It is quite an honor to share a title on our new album with Jeff's latest.”

Tulipomania also shared the animated video for 'I've Been Told - Absolution', which VanderMeer praised. "The dreamlike immersion in imagery from the novel creates a hypnotic and perfect effect for both a beautiful dirge and surge of a song and the atmosphere for Absolution. Gorgeous and evocative".  Shot frame by frame, utilizing multiple processes, including thermal printing, to create layered textures, the video features stop-motion animated objects (some frames vibrantly hand-tinted) and glimpses of the duo singing the lyrics. This exploration of various states of disintegration, painstakingly assembling thousands of individual images, evokes Absolution’s themes of dissolution and disorientation.

Described as ‘artistic and inventive’ and ‘gorgeous', Tulipomania's animated music videos have been featured in film festivals worldwide, including the Leeds International Film Festival (UK), StopTrik (Croatia, Poland), AniFilm (Czech Republic) and Tallgrass International Film Festival (USA).

On ‘Absolution', Tulipomania is immersed fully in electronic means of creation, involving Executive Producer Howard Thompson, renowned as a record industry executive (Elektra, Island, Almo Sounds), credited for having discovered and / or worked with Adam and the Ants, Billy Bragg, MC5, Mötorhead, PiL, Psychedelic Furs, Robyn Hitchcock, The Sugarcubes and Suicide, among others.

As of November 29, the ‘Absolution' album is available on CD, vinyl and digitally via Sursumcorda Records. It will be released everywhere digitally, including via Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music.

US-Argentinian indie-pop duo AEROLINEA present debut album 'All We Need' & 'Nervous' video

Indie pop duo Aerolinea presents thei'All We Need' album, released via My Long Wknd Records. This debut eight-track offering also sees a guest appearance by Failure drummer Kellii Scott. With passionate tandem lyrics, intertwining guitars and rhythms that sometimes groove and sometimes surprise, Aerolinea crafts a sound designed for romantics and misfits, for late nights and strange places.

Aerolinea is made up of Argentinian artist Victoria Real and Eric Weissinger of Atlanta dream-gaze duo I Am a Rocketship - both songwriters, vocalists and multi-instrumentalists. This is the first time for either musician to collaborate with someone else in fulfilling all of these roles simultaneously.

What began in April 2023 with an Instagram message led to a year of file sharing and meet ups in Florida and Argentina. The two met the pandemic thanks to a chance meeting while performing for the NMER Music Festival (organised by No Me Escucho Records) - a spark that planted the seed for what is now Aerolinea.

The sharing - of feelings, sounds, lyrics, and roles - comes across in the way the songs move, straddling changing rhythms and intertwining guitar lines. At times the album ventures into art-rock territory, before arcing back into stripped-down grooves. This is an album driven by lyrics of love, longing, and dreams, Real's and Weissinger's voices blending and then separating, building tension and then bringing release.

Victoria Real honed her musical skills under the tutelage of King Crimson guitar legend Robert Fripp, first as a Guitar Craft student and later performing with the League of Crafty Guitarists. She has released four albums as a solo artist with a fifth album in production. In 2021, she received the “Artist Revelation Rock of the Year” award at the Cordoba Entertainment Awards (Premios CIEyA) and was nominated a “Artist of the Year” and “Rock Artist of the Year” in 2023 and 2024.

As half of I Am a Rocketship, Eric Weissinger has released five albums and an EP. Before that, he was bassist for Anne Richmond Boston (DB Recs). As bassist, guitarist and singer in various  projects, he has opened for numerous notable bands, including The Black Crowes, James, The Wedding Present, Cracker and Portastatic.

The duo also presents their new video for 'Nervous', about which Eric Weissinger says, ''Nervous' is a different way of describing feeling alone. We need connections, and when you’re missing a connection, you start to doubt yourself, and not feel complete. You worry. The song is more about the subject’s emotions, and you don’t know anything about who they miss."

Victoria Real adds, "Nervous is the feeling we wanted to express here. Like a hunch that something is out of place. We put music and lyrics to it to evoke that feeling and thereby also evoke instant relief when expressed and channeled in this song".

Earlier, Aerolinea shared their debut single 'What Moves You', a dreamy track that oscillates between minimalistic pensiveness and intense euphoria for a sonic journey that is worth the flight. Its dramatic video was directed by renowned cinematographer Nico Purdía.

As of November 28, the 'All We Need' album is available on fine digital platforms, including Bandcamp,  via My Long Wknd Records. Aerolinea will be touring Argentina, Chile and Brazil in the new year, kicking off at Buenos Aires' Bar Carnal on January 11.

SUBWAY TO SALLY Joins Forces with WARKINGS for Ultimate Anthem "Stahl auf Stahl" + Official Music Video!

With their new single “Stahl auf Stahl”, SUBWAY TO SALLY combine their signature sound with the driving power metal of WARKINGS, forging a true masterpiece together. The track seamlessly blends SUBWAY TO SALLY’s heavy riffs with a captivating chorus and vocals that reach new heights, offering a taste of their upcoming studio album, 'Post Mortem', set to release on December 20, 2024 via Napalm Records.

“Stahl auf Stahl” is an anthem of resistance and strength. With lines like “Hämmern wir, so laut wie es nur geht, die Welt soll von uns hören” (“We hammer as loud as we can, so the world will hear us”), the song ignites a fire of courage that pushes the limits of what’s possible. It’s not only a hymn of bravery but also one of rebirth—like a phoenix rising from the ashes, escaping the darkness, and heralding a new day for us all.

This impressive collaboration between SUBWAY TO SALLY and WARKINGS is reflected in the dual vocals, emphasizing themes of invincibility and an unbreakable sense of unity. But this won’t be the last time the bands join forces—both acts will take the stage together this December on the Eisheilige Nacht-tour.

SUBWAY TO SALLY about the new single:

WARKINGS are our co-headliner for this year’s Eisheilige Nacht! Their intense touring activities caught our attention some time ago, and we’re confident they will ignite a true metal firestorm and make the Eisheilige Nacht an unforgettable experience with their show. This collaboration quickly led to the idea of a joint song, which we wrote and, of course, performed together. 'Stahl auf Stahl' is a powerful medieval metal banger and an exciting experiment for both WARKINGS and SUBWAY TO SALLY – one that can truly be called a success!”

WARKINGS add:

“Joining the legendary Eisheilige Nacht-tour with Subway to Sally is like marching into battle with the mightiest warriors by our side!

"And to make it even more epic, we forged 'Stahl auf Stahl', an anthem of steel and fire that will echo through the halls of Valhalla—and every stage we conquer together. Bring your helmets, folks—this is gonna be wild!“

German Folk Metal Legends SUBWAY TO SALLY Celebrate Their Rebirth with Their 15th Studio Album!

Not even two years have passed since the release of their previous record 'Himmelfahrt' in 2023, and initially, the band had secretly planned for it to be their last album. With a symbolic title, the genre-defining force from Potsdam, Germany intended to close their over 30-year career with dignity. But things took a different turn. SUBWAY TO SALLY undeniably struck a chord with the times, and the response to 'Himmelfahrt' was overwhelmingly positive from both fans and critics alike. After a tour with many sold-out shows, it became abundantly clear that their 14th album was not the final chapter. The album’s release unleashed an unstoppable sense of lightness and energy that sparked their creativity to such an extent that SUBWAY TO SALLY is now ready with their brand-new masterpiece, 'Post Mortem', following the fastest creative process in the band’s history.

The new masterpiece begins with the explosive track "Phönix", which celebrates the creative rebirth of the folk metal institution. On 'Post Mortem', SUBWAY TO SALLY neither look back nor into the future, but rather delivers a sharp analysis of the present. Songs like "Wunder","Nero", "Lumpensammler", and "Die Erde bebt" offer the band’s signature soundscape while exploring socially critical themes without moralizing. This serious side is contrasted by captivating tracks that celebrate life and the simple joy of music. The anthemic title track "Post Mortem", the rousing "Unter dem Banner", and the poetic ballad "Herz in der Rinde"unleash an uncanny joy of playing. All songs unite the band’s familiar trademarks of great melodies and profound lyrics but never feel redundant. The haunting "Atlas" melancholically draws on Greek mythology, while the folk metallers showcase a heavier yet melodic side on "Stahl auf Stahl". For this piece, they enlisted their labelmates Warkings as guest performers, whose power metal adds a unique flavor to the track. With English lyrics in the chorus, SUBWAY TO SALLY return to their roots. With "Kummerkind", the septet tackles mental struggles that many people cannot escape, once again proving their precise grasp of the zeitgeist.

SUBWAY TO SALLY comment:

"In this world of contradictions and changes, finding a voice seems difficult. But upon closer inspection, one finds parallels in history and art. What do Putin and Nero, Oppenheimer and Prometheus have in common? What rises from the ashes of Rome? Does history truly repeat itself – once as tragedy, the other time as farce?"

SUBWAY TO SALLY skillfully explore this tension between past, future, and present, art and political reality with their music, making it clear with 'Post Mortem' that they are more alive than ever before.

MIKE TRAMP Shares New Single "Till Death Do Us Part" + Cinematic Video

"Till Death Do Us Part" is the latest single from famed rock vocalist and guitarist MIKE TRAMP. The track is off his latest studio album 'Songs Of White Lion – Vol. II' which is out via Frontiers Music Srl. The album's ten tracks see TRAMP re-imagining select cuts from his former band White Lion. "Till Death Do Us Part" is accompanied by a new music video below.

About the new album, MIKE TRAMP shared this:

"Would Leonardo Da Vinci have re-painted Mona Lisa, if he had gotten a second chance? That, we will never know, but I can say for sure, that I am beyond thrilled to have gotten a second chance to re-record and sing the songs I wrote between 1983 and 1990. Today I have such a better understanding of how I want to express the songs in my voice than I had when I was in my 20’s, it’s just a fact, and I’ve grabbed the chance. 'Songs Of White Lion' is a whole new chapter, matter of fact it is current."

TRAMP is out now on tour supporting 'Songs Of White Lion Vol.II'. For a current list of dates, visit HERE

MIKE TRAMP came to prominence in the music world with White Lion, who formed in 1983. After signing to Atlantic Records, the band enjoyed great success with their second album 'Pride' in 1987, which included the hits "Wait" and "When the Children Cry". The band's third album, 'Big Game' (1991), and fourth album, 'Mane Attraction' (1992) continued the band's winning streak, but ultimately WHITE LION disbanded in 1992.

After WHITE LION, TRAMP formed the hard rock band Freak Of Nature, who had a decidedly darker and harder vibe than White Lion. Freak Of Nature would release three studio albums before disbanding in 1996. In 1998, Tramp kicked off his solo career with the album, 'Capricorn'; in 2002, his second solo album 'Recovering The Wasted Years' was released. TRAMP would then take a break from his solo career from 2004-2008 to tour and record under the name Mike Tramp's White Lion and eventually under the name White Lion, releasing the album 'Return Of The Pride' in 2008.

Since 2009, TRAMP has been writing and recording as a solo artist releasing nine studio albums, including his most recent, 2022's 'For Første Gang.' He has also been a consistent presence on the road, both as an acoustic solo artist and with a backing band, with no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

Manchester legacy act THE SPEED OF SOUND releases 'Bounty' album, shares video for reckless garage-punker 'Jaunt'

Manchester indie rock / power pop outfit The Speed Of Sound presents their new album 'A Cornucupia: Bounty' - the final instalment of the album trilogy 'A Cornucopia: Minerva, Victory, Bounty', released via Big Stir Records. They also share the video for 'Jaunt', the b-side to their danceable anti-AI single 'Artificial Paradise'. Vigorous and stompingly crunchy, 'Jaunt' is a recklessly and incautiously fast garage-punker, sporting a mutated blues pattern and an added horn section.

Formed in 1989 with a pre-history dating back to the day Andy Warhol died in 1987, the band is  now made up of father and son John Armstrong (guitars and vocals) and Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar) and John Broadhurst (drums).

"Falling into the rock-and-roll genre of 'Instructional Dance Song', it features the added 'twist' of celebrating and encouraging the next step in human evolution from homosapien. As David Bowie said in 'Oh You Pretty Things', "Gotta make way for the homo-superior" - evolve and gain the added benefit of telepathic and teleporting powers. Referencing the 70’s TV program "Tomorrow People", where the actors' abilities lie dormant until their teenage years, when they painfully and confusingly 'break out’ from their sapien form and find their true selves," says John Armstrong.

Full of ambition, energy and melodic brilliance, the 'A Cornucopia' deluxe edition is available on vinyl and CD. On 'Minerva', The Speed of Sound shared a rich bouquet of thought-provoking compositions, including the hauntingly spacious 'Trickledown', the stratospherically vast 'The Great Acceleration', and the uplifting 'Mind Palace' and 'West Wind'.

'Victory' brings 14 fresh shape-shifting grooves, from the danceable 'Underground', the unabashed sensuality of 'Monsoon', gothic lounge jazz of 'Permafrost', the glam-rocking 'E to F', reckless garage punk punch of 'Go For It', post-nostalgia of 'The Same River' and shimmering elegance of 'Tranquility Falls' to the strangely linked pairing of  'Apocalypse Acropolis' and 'Apocalypse Metropolis'

'Jaunt' video  Below.

Always been idiosyncratic and counter-intuitive, in search of something new, The Speed of Sound creates music with lyrical bite, expanding their foundation of 1960s, punk and new wave influences, their dynamic and stylistic variation crossing borders and pushing boundaries at every opportunity.

Following 2021's critically acclaimed album 'Museum Of Tomorrow', the band returns triumphant, defiant and redemptive with this trilogy, marking their 35th anniversary. Most music is never even recorded, and most recorded music remains unheard. 'Victory' is a celebration of this unheard underground music and the counterculture itself - music made for the pleasure of making it.

'Bounty' is out now and available everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where the full trilogy 'A Cornucopia: Minerva, Victory, Bounty' can be obtained on CD or vinyl.

Defeated Sanity Return to Brutality on 'Chronicles of Lunacy'

No band has flipped death metal on its deformed head like Defeated Sanity. The band's uniquely potent concoction of punishing technical proficiency and jazz-infused chaos has delighted metalheads from their familial beginnings in Berlin to Maryland Deathfest and India. Now, after breaking onto the Billboard charts with their last album, these underground champions are returning to the brutal slamming that cemented their legacy.

"Chronicles of Lunacy is not only a must buy", writes New Noise. "It's one of the top death metal records of 2024. All hail Defeated Sanity".

Chronicles of Lunacy comes out tomorrow, Friday, November 22 on Season of Mist, but you can hear all eight rip-roaring songs today by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Chronicles of Lunacy punches you right in the face. Opener “Amputationsdrang” already has you pinned to the mat beneath its non-stop blasts. Get comfortable, too. Defeated Sanity don’t let the album up for air until "Temporal Disintegration" warps into a wiggling bass outro.

"We love experimenting", explains drummer and founding member Lille Gruber. "But we realized that some of our oldest fans might have gotten lost after our last couple of albums. With Chronicles of Lunacy, we wanted to focus more on neck-snapping brutality".

Acting like cavemen isn’t so easy when your band has a Mensa-level maestro like Gruber at the controls.  “Lille’s drumming is just ridiculous”, says bassist Jacob Schmidt. Whether Gruber is hammering his snare, pinging between cymbals or riding a colossal groove, Chronicles of Lunacy flows like a never-ending stream of filth. Lead single "The Odour of Sanctity" opens like he's puncturing a wound with blistering blast beats, only to spew over into a monstrously wonky syncopated stomp.

"He's the face of the franchise, so we're never going to abandon those head-scratching moments that set Defeated Sanity apart", Schmidt continues.

Indeed, Chronicles of Lunacy isn't Defeated Sanity for dummies. "Each song deals with a different form of mental corruption", vocalist Josh Welshman says. "Odour" stinks of religious fanaticism. Early crowd favorite "A Patriarchy Perverse" cracks open the mind of co-ed killer Ed Kemper. "Sickness breeding sickness", Welshman growls with guttural vengeance.

While it still hits from every odd angle, Chronicles of Lunacy does draw a jagged red line back to Defeated Sanity's brutal origins. After all, the band now share a label with their namesake. New guitarist Vaughn Stoffey's chunky finger taps whip "Accelerating the Rot" into the fastest song in DS history. "This album is rawer and more straightforward", Stoffey says. "It gets back to what people love about Psalms of the Moribund and Chapters of Repugnance".

To dig up the sheer brutality that long-time fans have come to crave, Defeated Sanity returned to Thousand Cave Studios. The underground hot spot served as the excavation site for their previous two albums, but with Chronicles of Lunacy, producer Colin Marston was encouraged to really get his hands dirty. "We still wanted some of the high fidelity that you hear on modern death metal records", Schmidt says, "but this album also has the old school's crushing low-end".

The band execute this two-headed approach to monstrous effect on “Condemned to Vascular Famine”. At just under six minutes, the song delivers the longest ass beating on Chronicles of Lunacy. At times, all four members sound like they’re climbing up the walls in separate asylums, but after slipping in a brief nod to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the band come slamming down into the album’s ugliest breakdown.

“That’s one of our favorites”, the band says. “It lands at a crossroad of the DS sound that we ended up with on Chronicles of Lunacy. Even though it gets pretty fucking weird at times, there’s still an emphasis on heavy, straight-up slamming”

They're never going to drag their knuckles in a straight line, but on Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity return to sheer brutality.

None of their albums are ever going to follow a straight line, but on Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity return to sheer brutality.
