NYC indiepop artist JOE GENI radiates hope on third album 'Cities Built Upon Cities', produced by Charlie Nieland

"With plenty of passion, excellent songmanship and fantastic elements here of Talk Talk, Gotye, When In Rome, boygenius and even Luc Plamondon’s ‘Notre-Dame de Paris’, what’s not to like? A cinematic tapestry of sound and song, the music weaves a story of life's journey, mirroring the city's evolution and societal shifts" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Captivating lyrics, woven into a tapestry of cinematic orchestration, mirror the dynamic interplay of life's experiences, urban evolution, and societal shifts. Built with operatic grandeur, the song's richly orchestrated foundation provides a soaring platform for stunning vocals that capture the essence of our times" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

New York-based indie-pop artist Joe Geni presents his third album 'Cities Built Upon Cities', an 8-track offering that traces the transformation of Long Island City, the part of Queens that Geni calls home. Situated across the East River from Manhattan with its stunning skyline views and now booming with skyscrapers, this place is haunted by its industrial past and friends who have moved on. These recordings explore themes of change, impermanence and loss amidst the city's constant evolution.

This album was produced, mixed and mastered by Charlie Nieland, a well-respected Brooklyn-based sound engineer and producer, known for his work with Debbie Harry, Rufus Wainwright, Blondie, Dead Leaf Echo, Oh Halo and Scissors Sisters, in addition to scores, including the feature film 'The Safety of Objects' starring Glenn Close. Awarded a Gold record (UK) for his production of Blondie's 'Greatest Hits Sight & Sound', Nieland also achieved a Top-10 Billboard Dance Chart Position with Debbie Harry's 'Two Times Blue', a single that he co-wrote and produced.

"I live in Long Island City, where the land is in transformation. They’re throwing up high rises as fast as building permits can be distributed from City Hall. From a city of industry and warehouses and taxi depots, to a city of luxury towers and scaffolding, the infrastructure and facilities groaning under the weight of ten thousand new arrivals and then ten thousand more, and all this flat up against the undulating greenery of Gantry State Park weaving along the banks of the East River under the famous Pepsi Cola sign," says Joe Geni.

"I lived here in 2011, when it was a totally different city, flat and industrial and grey. One time I was walking along and I heard the rhythmic thump of a distant dance party, and then the sound was gone, and then it was back again. I couldn’t tell where it was coming from, and so I hunted all over the neighborhood trying to find it. Finally I realized it was on the roof of practically the only tall building for half a mile in any direction, and the reason it kept drifting in and out of earshot depended on where I was standing and whether or not I could hear it echoing off the brick walls and corrugated siding of the smaller buildings all around it. Nearly all of those buildings are gone now. So are most of my friends from that time. I’m back now. The city is changing. The people in it are changing. The environment around it is changing. The architecture is changing. Yesterday’s city has been buried under today’s which will soon be lost to tomorrow's… cities built upon cities."

In the lead-up to this album, Geni released the singles 'City of Energy', 'City Where The Sky Subsides' and the latest 'City of Light', reflecting on the power of human connection and resilience, the solace found in friendship and community, and the renewed hope that emerged as the world began to heal following Covid-related lockdowns.

Originally hailing from Evanston, Illinois, Geni has lived in NYC for most of his adult life (mostly in Long Island City), working various jobs around the United Nations. Making music that soundtracks the Anthropocene, Geni tries to capture what it’s like to search for home in a world that is constantly changing. Exploring the complex relationship between humanity and our environment, he channels these ideas and emotions into sound.

Since emerging on the music scene with his 2019 debut album 'After Wandering Empire', Geni released his 'Doggerland' album in 2021, both of which were also produced by Charlie Nieland. With a distinct, instantly recognizable voice (a blisteringly high tenor with a 3.5 octave range), he has a knack for communicating complex ideas through his lyrics, ruminating on themes related to international affairs, climate change, demography, transportation and urban infrastructure, but also the grand sweep of the human experience, including love, regret, modern art and even dinosaurs.

As of October 4, the 'Cities Built Upon Cities' album is available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

SYLOSIS - Drop Surprise New EP 'The Path' + Release Video For Title Track Feat. Debbie Gough Of Heriot

Powerhouse metal outfit SYLOSIS have surprise released their new EP The Path ahead of their upcoming co-headlining tour with FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY.

On the release of the The Path, Josh Middleton comments:

“When we were working on ASOTTC we amassed a lot of material. It was a very creative period and the songs that didn’t make it onto ASOTTC were by no means below standard - far from it! We’re extremely excited to share with you The Path EP. Some of our best material to date! We hope you enjoy it”

The band have also released a video for its title track featuring Debbie Gough of HERIOT, who will be joining the band as support across the UK and Europe.

On the EP's title track, Josh continues:

“The Path is about my love and obsession for heavy music. It’s all I need. It’s never been a phase or something I’ll grow out of. I’m immersed in this culture and more than anything, I am still a rabid fan! I think previously writing a song about this kind of thing would have been a no-go for me. Maybe it could be perceived as corny or ‘out of character’ compared to some of the band's previous lyrics but this feels like a very important song to me.”

THRESHOLD - Release Remixed Versions Of Classic Albums On CD & Limited Edition Vinyl + Lyric Video For 'Freaks'

THRESHOLD are excited to announce the release of newly remixed editions of their first four groundbreaking albums: CloneExtinct InstinctWounded Land and Psychedelicatessen. The albums have been meticulously revisited by guitarist Karl Groom and keyboardist Richard West, bringing these early classics into the modern era with enhanced sonic clarity while preserving their original power and intricacy. These remixed versions are available on CD and limited edition vinyl, with exclusive transparent color variants for each album.

Get yours here: https://nblast.de/ThresholdRemixes

Limited-Edition Vinyl Releases:

Clone: Clear Orange 2LP

Extinct Instinct: Clear Yellow

Wounded Land: Transparent Green

Psychedelicatessen: Transparent Violet

To celebrate the re-release of Clone, the band has also dropped a brand-new lyric video for the track 'Freaks', featuring the remixed audio from the album.

Watch the lyric video for 'Freaks' Below:

The song holds a special place in THRESHOLD’s history as one of the first tracks written for Clone, and it marks a pivotal moment when Mac (Andrew "Mac" McDermott) joined the band.

Karl Groom on 'Freaks':

"‘Freaks’ was one of the first songs written for Clone and was a starting point for Mac joining Threshold. We’re looking forward to playing this on our upcoming tour."

Richard West added:

"It’s amazing to be releasing ‘Freaks’ as a single again over a quarter of a century after it first came out. It was the first song we released after Mac joined the band, and our 2024 remix makes it sound brand new all over again."

About the remixes:

Each album has been remixed from the original multitrack recordings, bringing new life to these iconic records from Threshold’s formative years. Speaking about the remixing process, Karl Groom shared: "There were obvious shortcomings in the sound of early albums with budget being limited at the time. We've brought the sonic quality up to modern standards while retaining the original performances. It’s great to look back at our formative years and the way you take chances in composition that experience would probably make you look at differently."

Richard West added:

"Nuclear Blast approached us about reissuing our back catalogue, and that gave us the perfect opportunity to go back to the original tapes and improve the quality of the mixes. It’s been really nostalgic going back and restoring them to how they were always supposed to sound."

These remixed albums represent a new chapter for fans both old and new, combining the raw creativity of THRESHOLD’s early work with a refined, modern production.

Karl Groom Reflects on the Evolution of THRESHOLD’s Sound: "Anything released before 'Dead Reckoning' feels like a different era completely. That is partly because Mac is unfortunately no longer with us, but also because founding members like Jon Jeary and Nick Midson had moved on, and the sound changed accordingly."

Sunburnkids Unveils Debut Album, Elephant in the Room

Sunburnkids, a 2005-born creative director and artist, releases their debut full-length album, Elephant in the Room, today. Alongside the album release you can watch the deeply personal music video for “Red Cheek Boys,” and anticipate the music video release for “Time,” set to drop in a few weeks. Collaborating closely with children for this project and known for making waves in the fashion world at a young age, Sunburnkids chose lyrics and music as their medium for expression, opting for clarity over abstraction in delivering the album’s message. (Clothing Brand: @chapterofchan)

The album’s title draws inspiration from the American idiom "the elephant in the room," symbolizing important issues that everyone acknowledges but often avoids discussing due to discomfort or fear. Sunburnkids shares, “This phrase deeply resonates with my life. I’ve carried the weight of childhood habits and unresolved traumas that, while invisible, have always felt like a colossal elephant in my heart. Every time I write, whether it’s a reflection of my life’s introduction, body, or conclusion, I’ve found myself unable to bring it to a close—unable to place that final period. In other words, I have yet to write the ending to my story.”

A pivotal moment during the album’s creation came when a young boy expressed to Sunburnkids’ that he listens to their music from morning till night, constantly reflecting on it. This encounter left Sunburnkids’ feeling both shocked and burdened by the weight of responsibility their music carries. From that moment on, despite receiving numerous opportunities, Sunburnkids spent a long time in quiet reflection—reading books, writing lyrics, and contemplating within the church whether they had the right to express themselves, and more importantly, what they should be expressing.

This album is not only their debut but also a deeply personal, self-taught project. Having learned everything on their own—from fashion to videography to music—Sunburnkids poured their unique tastes and modes of expression into this work. Each track tells a story that reflects real life, with involvement from children at church and even actors who helped bring the narratives to life. The music video for the title track, “Red Cheek Boys,” features Sunburnkids’ younger brother, authentically capturing his own past.

What makes this project even more special is that Sunburnkids didn’t create it alone—they crafted it together with children. They explained the lyrics and themes to the kids, organized art classes, and used the children’s drawings as the album covers. On September 30th, an album listening party and exhibition was held at “Layer Studio 7” in Yongsan, where the children's artwork will be displayed. Their voices are also interwoven into the album, giving listeners a deeper sense of how Sunburnkids’ views and values the children involved. “Sunburnkids tells them that they are both the authors and the protagonists of this album.”

The album consists of 11 tracks, with Sunburnkids writing, composing, directing, producing, and overseeing the music videos entirely. When asked, "Why do you take on everything yourself?" Sunburnkids responded, "Because no one can truly understand my life as deeply as I do."

MORE INFO:
Based in Seoul Korea, Sunburnkids is an active singer-songwriter and visual director. They’ve worked on music video styling and visual direction for various artists, including the well-known artist Zior Park. Despite his young age, Sunburnkids made a significant impact in the fashion industry, serving as the creative director for their own clothing brand, Chan. With a deep understanding of color, they not only design their own clothes but also demonstrate exceptional skill in manipulating color to match their concepts. The free-spirited and imaginative visualizations in both their music and video art stimulate the viewer’s imagination.

Sunburnkids began self-teaching music, videography, and photo visuals as early as elementary school, and by 2023, they released their single, "1MIN," which showcased their unique artistic sensibility. This was followed by their EP CRY BOYS MIXTAPE, marking their debut as a musician. In October 2024, they officially released their first full-length album, Elephant in the Room. Despite only debuting last year, they’ve gained recognition from various magazines such as Marie Claire Korea, Dazed Korea, Esquire Korea, Hypebeast Korea, and many more. As a musician who combines styling and visual directing talents, Sunburnkids offers an original, boundary-breaking musical world to their audience, never constrained by convention.

Industrial icon PIG presents 'Feast of Agony' EP & 'Fallout' video. Colossal North American tour kicks off September 28

Alternative music legend Raymond Watts a.k.a. PIG presents his new 'Feast of Agony' EP, released via Metropolis Records, and new video for 'Fallout', undeniably the most catchy among the six coruscating tracks found on this release.

'Feast of Agony' is the sound of PIG crushing the grinding wheel of grief with the seed of hope and relief. Watts’ anger burns and binds as he cooks up more kick-ass music, begging you to march to the drumbeat of hope with these encounters with the Lord of Lard, in which he brings word to wordless and truth to the truthless.

The EP kicks off with the monstrous 'Heroin for the Damned', screaming like a demon officiating at his own funeral while trying to stem the wounds of reality with the joy juice of depravity, which was co-written with Watts’ collaborator-in-chief Jim Davies, a longtime member of Pitchshifter, but best known for his acidic and acerbic guitar lines on many chart hits by The Prodigy. The remaining tracks are a cure that’s kind… and a call to the deserts of desperation from the promised land of truth.

This EP arrives on the trail of the remastered reissue of PIG's landmark 1995 ‘Sinsation’ album (originally released via Trent Reznor's Nothing Records) and his latest studio album ‘Red Room’, released earlier this year - both albums released via Metropolis.

Raymond Watts aka PIG has enjoyed a stellar career since starting out as a pioneering member of the mid-1980s industrial rock scene. As well as releasing fourteen albums as PIG, he has toured with KMFDM (he was a member of the band in their early days), Nine Inch Nails and Einstürzende Neubauten, written music for fashion and film (for Chloe, Marios Schwab, Halston and The Row), created exhibition sound design for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and collaborated with the late fashion icon Alexander McQueen.

Watts will continue his oration against hopelessness, hypocrisy and the ever creeping tide of despair on PIG's ‘Heroin For The Damned’ tour across North America, kicking off on September 28. Joined by Curse Mackey and Unitcode : Machine, this 40-date itinerary follows PIG's headlining set at Cold Waves XII in Chicago.

As of September 27, the 'Feast of Agony' EP is available everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, along with the 'Red Room' and 'Sinsation (Remastered)' albums. The vinyl edition of 'Feast of Agony' is only available on the tour. Tickets can be ordered at https://linktr.ee/ pigtour2024

TRASHCAN SINATRAS' JOHN DOUGLAS releases 'Still or Sparkling?' EP & headlines US tour

Celebrated songsmith John Douglas, co-founder and guitarist of beloved Scottish music icons Trashcan Sinatras, presents his new 4-track 'Still Or Sparkling EP', released via Reveal Records,
along with a video for the title track 'Still Or Sparkling?'.

A slight move away from his acoustic debut album while maintaining a natural live-take approach, the new EP involves some stellar musicians, including Eddi Reader (of Fairground Attraction fame and a solo artist in her own right), Boo Hewerdine (The Bible), Kevin Mcguire and Alan Kelly - all also part of Reader's band.

Musically, the arrangement nods its head to Roger Miller’s finger-clicking, double bass driven 'King Of The Road' with added soft husky harmonies from John’s partner, Eddi Reader. Lyrically, the song evokes the early days of any relationship…. the getting to know each other phase, flirtatious and light. The song also name checks the unlikely trio of Shirley Collins, Annie Briggs and Michelangelo

"This is a new song of new love… the fresh, early days. Inspired by a late night date with my future wife, spent listening to folk records, eating figs and getting to know each other,”  says John Douglas.

Starting October 1, Douglas also embarks on the 'Lost in North America Tour - Part One'. This first American headlining tour offers an intimate snapshot of Douglas' talent, charisma and depth. He is joined for West coast and Midwest dates by Lily Vakili of Vakili Band, and for East Coast dates by award-winning singer-songwriter Lauren Calve.

There are two dates on this tour involving special guest appearances by fellow Trashcans Frank Reader and Paul Livingston - both of them appear in Seattle, with Reader also joining Douglas in LA.

In 2023, John Douglas released his eponymous debut album via Reveal Records, recorded with renowned producer Mark Freegard (New Model Army, Lush, The Breeders, Del Amitri, Marillion). Other highlights of the year include a UK headlining tour, UK Top-40 charting of Trashcan Sinatras' reissued album 'Cake' (33 years since debuting), and a Trashcan Sinatras documentary, produced by award-winning journalist Ken Sweeney, featuring Douglas performing beloved Trashcans' songs.

Douglas recently marked the 20th anniversary of the milestone Trashcan Sinatras album 'Weightlifting' with a live rendition of 'Weightlifting'. Earlier, he shared the moonlit video for 'Oranges & Apples', preceded by 'I Just Want To Go Home', 'Lost', 'I'm Not The Fella', 'Always' and 'Leave Me Alone'.

As of September 27, the 'Still or Sparkling?' single will be available from fine online platforms. Until the EP's official release date of November 8, the full EP is available exclusively via Bandcamp. This EP will be available on CD during Douglas' North America tour, which kicks off in Los Angeles. His debut album will also be offered on CD and on vinyl here for the first time, as well as Douglas' mini-book 'Rambling - How I got here to your town on my own', featuring superb photos by Stephanie Gibson.

Eli Young Band Honor Those Who Put “Home in Hometown” in New Release & Tour

It’s widely known how award-winning Eli Young Band formed while together in Denton, Texas attending college at University of North Texas, however their journey over the next 20+ years would lead them everywhere, seldomly seeing home in between. With notions of longing ever present in their writing, it’s no surprise as they find their center as releasing music for the first time in three years independently with both home, and those who make it so, at the core. Listen to “Home In Hometown,” below.

A true-to-experience ballad of life on the road, and heart-on-their-sleeve marker of what they've learned in their years away from those they love most. With ringing guitars capturing a sense of anticipation, a steady rhythmic heartbeat and a euphoric singalong chorus, the band unpack what "home" really means.

"When you find the love of your life you’ll follow them anywhere,” shares band lead vocalist and guitarist Mike Eli who penned the song alongside Ryan Tyndell and Jeff Hyde (Eric Church’s “Springsteen” and Keith Urban’s “We Were”). “My wife, Kacey, and I started as a long distance relationship and it was tough to keep it together. When I wrote this I was digging deep into our Texas roots. I wanted to write something that felt like Pat Green or Jack Ingram would cut. And when you travel like we do, a lot of times you're thinking about coming home and being with your family -- but, it's almost like if they meet you on the road, anywhere can be home. It just feels right. I wanted to capture that."

The Jimmy Robbins and Eric Arjes produced track is the first release of more than 140 songs the band has written over the last few years and signifies a new chapter and a new tour.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 25th anniversary of the band's founding, the four members of the Eli Young Band have retaken the reins of their sound and songwriting, reestablishing the go-your-own-way spirit behind their multi-Platinum hits.

Returning to their independent roots -- but also the bold creative edge that launched them from the Texas live circuit into the country mainstream, and in many ways returning to their old stomping grounds -- it's an era driven by experience and a million miles of wisdom, but delivered by a band of brothers still very much in their musical prime.

"We started this thing when we were like 20 [years old], and it's been such a crazy road and such a longer road than any of us could have conceptualized at the time,” bassist Jon Jones shares. “I think right now feels a little full circle, in a really nice way."

"Now, we kind of get to step back into our Texas shoes. I definitely think that this new stuff finds me as a songwriter reaching deep into my personal past and our past as a band,” Eli adds. “We're remembering where the magic was -- all those songs we wanted to record for our Level record, that felt way too edgy for Country Radio at the time.”

Returning to that grassroots rawness, geared for their acclaimed live show has the band reinvigorated.

"We’ve written 143 songs and it’s just the beginning of our next chapter. Going back to Panhandle House where we recorded Level, that record started everything for us. Going back there feels like we get to remind ourselves why we started making the kind of music we make,” Eli says in closing. “When this music comes out, I think fans will know it is 100% coming from us."

Celebrated by The Associated Press as “a smart, relevant antidote” to overdone clichés in Country music, EYB has charted 14 singles on Billboard, including four No. 1 hits with Billboard‘s No. 1 Country Song of the Year and ACM Award for Song of the Year, “Crazy Girl,” “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” 2x Platinum “Love Ain’t” and Platinum “Drunk Last Night.” Additionally, the band has earned multiple GRAMMY, CMA, CMT, ACA and Teen Choice Award nominations.

A New Dawn: The Reveal Unveil New Record "Hieroglyphics" - Out Now!

Genre-defying power trio, The Reveal, have officially unleashed their transcendent sophomore record "Hieroglyphics", an immersive concept album that draws inspiration from spirituality, ancient religions, and the exploration of diverse cultures. This brand new album sees an ambitious fusion of The Reveal's trademark psychedelic rock with diverse elements ranging from funk-heavy grooves to punk-rock grit. Fans can listen to "Hieroglyphics" HERE.

Alongside the release of their latest eclectic record, The Reveal have also shared a mind-bending new video for "My Chariot", furthering the band's new experimental era. Fans can watch the brand new video Below.

Lifting the curtain on their highly-anticipated release, frontman Brother Dusty shares:

"This album represents a whole eye-opening chapter of the band's journey working with pros to get to a higher level. The themes of the music tribute many ancient mysteries - drawing attention to Egyptian mythology, spiritual awakening, secret societies, aliens and other dimensions. We wrapped it up in a mask of party time dance themes and commercial production to create a Trojan horse to get us through the gates of our next step as a band."

With "Hieroglyphics" out in the world, The Reveal continue to redefine the boundaries of rock, all while preserving their signature psychedelic edge. By blending the sounds of cultures from across the globe, the trio masterfully craft a captivating narrative centered around the rebirth of The Reveal, diving deep into themes of transformation, identity, and the complexities of the human experience.

A standout act in the Nashville music scene, The Reveal have cemented their status as trailblazers by breaking free from traditional genre constraints and exploring fresh, avant-garde musical elements. Their fearless experimentation and willingness to defy expectations have set them apart, forging a new distinct identity that challenges the norm and reshapes the contemporary rock landscape.

Stay tuned for more The Reveal news coming soon.

ABOUT THE REVEAL

Emerging from the vibrant heart of Nashville, The Reveal is a raging power trio that seamlessly blends funky blues riffs, metal, and a punk/rap attitude into a psychedelic fusion. As fans venture into the desert, the band are poised to make a bold statement with their upcoming concept album, “Hieroglyphics”, set for release on September 30th.

At the helm is Brother Dusty, whose commanding rock vocals and potent funk bass, aptly named Thunder Dragon, anchor the band’s signature sound. Joined by lifelong friend and lead guitarist, Josh Norfleet, whose soulful melodies channel the band’s global influences into a blend that they’ve been shaping since their childhood in the cornfields of Kokomo, IN. Drummer Ian Fleming rounds out the trio, as he infuses a late '90s/early '00s punk rock energy into the dynamic. With their undeniable chemistry, The Reveal are undergoing a rebirth, emerging stronger than ever as a true powerhouse.

DYLAN SCHNEIDER’S DEBUT ALBUM, PUZZLED, AVAILABLE NOW

“Country Music’s Next Rising Star” (Billboard) Dylan Schneider releases his debut album, PUZZLED, today. Filled to the brim with his stadium-ready anthems, the “Artist to Watch” (Pandora, Amazon Music, Taste of Country) packs the electrifying energy of his live show into an unforgettable and highly anticipated debut project, expertly mixing his incomparable rock-n-roll edge and pop-country swagger into 16 uniquely compelling tracks. Listen now below

“When I started this album, writing the songs and deciding what would make the record, I wanted to make sure I got everything exactly right, because these songs are my story,” shares Schneider. “Getting to share my life online is one thing, but this project truly shows who I am as a person and where I’m heading next. I’m so proud of this album and am so excited it’s out. Hope y’all enjoy it, and I’ll see you out on the ‘Bad Decisions Tour!’”

Already receiving critical acclaim, Taste of Country praised, “This body of work showcases not only the singer’s impressive vocal range, but also his gifted lyric crafting…It’s a roll down your windows album, highlighting upbeat hits and slower, soulful numbers,” even predicting that standout track “Carhartt” - which matches the iconic brand’s blue-collar toughness with a flirtatious backroad swagger and steamy, late-night sway - will be “the song of the fall.”

Co-writing every track, apart from the title track that he wrote entirely by himself, the MusicRow-praised “2024 Next Big Thing” brings new maturity and fresh bite to his unique brand of heartland pop, as country, rock and hip-hop fuse in a soundtrack of small-town story craft.

Breathing new life into relatable stories, the tantalizingly catchy “Better Than You Left Me” puts the good in goodbye, as the highly infectious, soulful and vibe-inducing track lets an ex know he isn’t looking back, while “Country Right” bumps the speakers up to ten, as the fully countrified track highlights the best parts of living off the beaten path. But it’s with tracks like the bewildered enlightenment of “Puzzled” that highlights the nostalgic complexities of growing up, the tenderly beautiful Johnny Cash tribute “Without June,” and the whirling “Here Comes The Sun” that showcase Schneider’s colorful lyricism and storytelling prowess.

With no signs of slowing down and “a fanbase with a voracious appetite, Schneider’s star will only continue to rise in 2024” (Music Row), as the tenacious road warrior will hit major markets such as Los Angeles, Nashville, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle and more on his headlining 2024 “Bad Decisions Tour” this fall that has already sold out in numerous cities. Having been out with  Nate Smith, Kane Brown and Luke Bryan this year, Schneider continues the momentum opening on Mitchell Tenpenny’s “Woke Up In A Dream Tour.”

“newcomer Dylan Schneider is well on his way to breaking out.”

- Women’s Wear Daily

“Dylan Schneider has made a name for himself as a songwriter in Nashville”

- American Songwriter

“From moments of vulnerability to infectious party anthems, his music resonates with listeners from all walks of life.” – Country Now

“one thing is clear: Dylan Schneider has firmly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the country music scene, leaving listeners eagerly anticipating what he'll bring to the table next.”

About Dylan Schneider:

One of Music Row’s most exciting new talents, with all the elements of a true rising star, BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville’s Dylan Schneider has grown a massive fanbase and critical acclaim, fusing Midwestern country grit with the energy of rock and modern pop. After building an engaged following on social media, Schneider arrived in Nashville at just 16 years old, releasing multiple building-block EPs and honing his craft on tour with Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, Kane Brown, Nate Smith and more. Earning “Artist to Watch” accolades from Pandora, Amazon Music and others, the 24 year old now boasts over 2 million social media followers and 395+ million on-demand career streams, with two RIAA-certified Gold records and a Top 5 hit as a songwriter (Dustin Lynch’s “Momma’s House”). Hailed by MusicRow as a “2024 Next Big Thing,” Schneider released his long-awaited debut album Puzzled on September 27. With 16 songs, all co-written or solely written by Schneider such as the autobiographical title track, the project also features fan-favorite anthems like the irresistible “Carhartt” that matches the brand’s iconic toughness with a flirtatious backroad swagger and steamy, late-night sway, while viral smash “Bad Decisions” wraps a toxic relationship in a dusky Western twang and Schneider’s lusty vocal flow. Looking ahead, the rising star will embark on his coast-to-coast headlining “Bad Decisions Tour” before joining Mitchell Tenpenny through the end of 2024, continuing to make energy an equal partner to his deeply personal tales of growth and getting by.

BEWITCHER Drops New Music Video for "Spell Shock," New Album Out Today

All the best tunes belong to the Devil, and Portland’s bastard sons BEWITCHER have returned to take back rock n’ roll in Baphomet’s name. In honor of today's release of the band's new studio album,, 'Spell Shock,' BEWITCHER is revealing an ominous new music video for the title track! The clip was created by lucamainardi.graphics with band footage by A. Magus and art direction inspired by SoloMacello, who created the stunning artwork of the album. Watch below.

Says bassist A. Magus on the unholy genesis of the new album, "'Spell Shock’ is the product of playing 130 shows in a row and then going straight into writing and recording,” Indeed, BEWITCHER’s unrelenting tour grind for their 2021’s 'Cursed Be Thy Kingdom,' alongside the likes of Municipal Waste, Goatwhore, Cavalera and Exhumed became the fuel for their finest moment to date. “Spell Shock” lives up to its title. It’s riffs, filth and fury at their most demonic and rebellious.

Joining frontman Mateo Von Bewitcher, bassist A. Magus, and drummer A. Hunter in the studio

Joining Von Bewitcher, bassist A. Magus, and drummer A. Hunter in the studio this time was none other longtime BEWITCHER fan Lars Frederiksen. Most of the world knows Frederiksen as a force in his own right, playing in the likes of Bay Area punk heroes Rancid, as well as his own Old Firm Casuals. While to some, it may have been an unlikely pairing with Frederiksen taking the producer’s seat, for everyone in the studio the connection was immediate.

As Frederiksen previously commented on 'Spell Shock': "It’s the best record I’ve ever produced for one of the best bands in the world."

Magus explains about their experience with Frederiksen: “[Lars’] knowledge of heavy metal, black metal and thrash – as well as punk, is vast and extreme. It was definitely a match made in hell.'

From 'Spell Shock's' pummeling first invocation, “Starfire Maelstrom,” BEWITCHER stake a bloody claim on making a metal record that’s equally classic and contemporary. With them, classic is undeniably key. “We kept coming back to classic heavy metal records for inspiration,” says Magus. “What we got was our take on classic 80’s metal records using the tools we have today.” The band also credits engineer and mixer Chris Dugan, best known for his work with Green Day (Yes, Green Day, but listen to those guitars!), for nailing 'Spell Shock’s' energized rawness. “We’ve always tried to be an old school band, without being or sounding like a retro or trad metal band,” adds Von Bewitcher.

'Spell Shock' is BEWITCHER at their most evolved and most devastatingly primal. “We wanted it to be an album experience,” says drummer A. Hunter. “Imagine King Diamond’s 'Abigail' in terms of atmosphere merged with the energy of AC/DC’s 'High Voltage.'”

In addition, BEWITCHER will be exclusively releasing the new single, "The Warrior Trail," via the Decibel Magazine Flexi Series and will be available in the magazine's latest issue with a deluxe subscription! Order HERE.

'Spell Shock' is out now Century Media Records and can be found HERE.

In addition, BEWITCHER is currently on an extensive North American tour, in which they are co-headlining with label-mates SKELETAL REMAINS. The full itinerary can be found below while tickets can be found HERE.

Since their formation in 2013, Bewitcher has seen their signature “Black Magick Metal” sound go from humble beginnings to new heights of creativity and wild anthemic fervor. A small collection of long out-of-print demo tapes kicked off what has proven to be an enduring line of ripping studio albums, singles and EPs. They have earned a reputation as one of the hardest working touring acts around, bringing their volcanic, high energy live shows to every corner of North America and parts abroad.

From its eye-grabbing-and-gouging artwork by Italian horror maestro Solo Macello, to songs like the haunting “We Die in Dust,” to the epic closing track “Ride of the Iron Fox” (“That’s BEWITCHER’s Dokken song!” laughs A. Hunter.) Spell Shock is BEWITCHER at their most evolved and most devastatingly primal. “We wanted it to be an album experience,” says drummer A. Hunter. “Imagine King Diamond’s Abigail in terms of atmosphere merged with the energy of AC/DC’s High Voltage.”

OCEANS - Release New Album 'HAPPY'

The new studio album by German nu-metal band OCEANS sees the light of day today!
The band's third album, entitled HAPPY, comprises 11 new songs, including the two previously released singles, and is available now. The album thematically deals with the topics of mental health and the negative phases in life. The album name HAPPY functions more likely as a destination state. The band gives free rein to their emotions and describes in their usual musical rigor everything that goes wrong in this world and needs to be improved in order to finally reach the state of mind 'Happy'.

OCEANS have also delivered a brand new music video for the title track 'Happy', which you can witness below.

Bass player Thomas Winkelmann comments:

"With HAPPY we go harder and more uncompromising than ever before. In the sometimes very interchangeable mishmash of metal/deathcore bands out there, we tried to create our own sound without imposing limits on ourselves in the process."

Buy/stream the new album HAPPY here: https://oceans.bfan.link/happy

TOUR DATES

Just in time for their new album release , OCEANS are going on tour. As support for labelmatesSEPTICFLESH, the nu-metallers will be playing several shows all through Europe. From October 3rd to November 2nd, catch OCEANS along with SEPTICFLESHEQUILIBRIUM and SCAR OF THE SUN as they blaze through 28 electrifying concerts across 13 countries.
Mark your calendars, grab your tickets, and prepare to experience the
MODERN PRIMITIVE TOUR 2024 like never before!

About:

Germany’s Nu Death powerhouse OCEANS are back with unprecedented ferocity since their debut EP in 2018. Brace yourself for their third album HAPPY, a colossal juggernaut that once again showcases the band's ability to seamlessly fuse Nu Metal, Death Metal and Post Rock into their own signature sound. The days of subtle introversion seem to be over. As the world faces one crisis after another, OCEANS are channeling their frustration at the state of the world into a bold statement against the influence of social media on society, while staying true to their mission of promoting mental health awareness. This band has never sounded as angry as they do now, and these 11 songs are impressive proof of how well that emotion suits them. Surely this is also what convinced Australia's finest, keyboardist MISSTIQ and Josh Collard from EARTH CALLER, to take part as feature artists on two tracks. OCEANS ’previous album Hell Is Where The Heart Is put the band on the road with international acts like BLIND CHANNEL in 2022, as well as supporting ANNISOKAY in 2024. It’s safe to say that HAPPY will ignite massive mosh pits on their upcoming extensive European tour with SEPTICFLESH in October 2024.

OCEANS is:

Patrick Zarske | guitar
Thomas Winkelmann | bass

NYC alt-rockers THE GIRAFFES release 8th ‘Cigarette’ album & high-octane 'Pipes' video

"Undeniably captivating. There’s a certain charm to their music with instrumentation and vocals that are absolutely assured and insanely fucking groovy. Offering a very cool melody, time-shifting and dramatism that builds in intensity, 'The Shot' is a superb and infectious single" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A band that effortlessly blends raw energy with complex musicianship. A thrilling return to form... A full-throttle angst-filled yet logical assault on the senses... Fans of the Jesus Lizard, Queens of the Stone Age and Fu Manchu will find their sonic sweet spot in their wild, edgy sound" ~ The Spill Magazine

Brooklyn alternative rock outfit The Giraffes has released their eighth album 'Cigarette'- a hypnotic, psychedelic ethnic-tinged rock score for our current age of decay and disappointment, fear and fury, idiocy and hope. This long-awaited and loaded 7-track offering is full of surprises, taking new risks with subject matter and composition while maintaining the intensity and dexterity fans know and love.

Recorded & engineered by Andrew Totolos at Apesauce Studio, this was mixed by Grammy nominated producer Francisco Botero (Matisyahu, Odesza) at the iconic Studio G Brooklyn and by James Dellatacoma (Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock, TS Monk, John Zorn, Angelique Kidjo) at Bill Laswell's famed Orange Music Sound Studio.

The band recently released the single 'Pipes', a furious, psychedelic protest anthem born from the fear of widespread environmental neglect, and the hypnotic lead track 'The Shot', a rock-meets-psychedelic-surf earworm that shimmers between shadowy depths and sunlit crescendos.

Since forming in 1996, they've been crafting a hedonistic soundtrack that is loud, agile, dangerous, funny, sick, complex and satisfying. Known for their trademark menu of metal-tinged scuzz-rock, The Giraffes offer a tasteful mixture of heavy rock, punk, post-punk, surf and whatever else they find interesting.

With lead singer Aaron Lazar and guitar maestro Damien Paris as its core, drummer Andrew Totolos provides the locomotive rhythm section with Hannah Moorhead anchoring the bass. This year marks the beginning of a new era for the band, with Moorhead now also contributing backing vocals and songwriting. With the line-up no longer in flux, the focus is now largely on songwriting.

"Cigarette is a name that just popped into my mind out of the blue. We tried several titles but this word “cigarette” just seemed to suit the record best. Those now rare and expensive and terrible treats that both kill and sustain you. Anachronistic and awkward, beautiful and trashy, plant, paper, fire and whatever else that happened to linger in the philip morris production line," says Aaron Lazar.

"This collection of songs comes from a cinematic place. We started off attempting to make a record that was spiritually similar to our spaghetti western soundtrack “A Gentleman Never Tells” and with a few detours i think we have arrived there. A score for our current age of decay and disappointment, fear and fury, idiocy and hope."

Four years since forming and two years since debuting with their 1998 album 'Franksquilt', The Giraffes finally found their true form in 2000 when joined by vocalist Aaron Lazar. Upon releasing 'Helping You Help Yourself', their first album with Lazar in 2002, the band would stake its claim as the most unbridled and fun-loving Brooklyn live act. Indeed, with fierce musicality and peak audience participation, The Giraffes earned themselves a dedicated fan base.

From 2002, the band toured nationally and released four studio albums in succession, signing with various labels along the way. Their spaghetti western EP 'A Gentleman Never Tells' (2003) was followed by 'The Giraffes' album (2005), the 'Pretty In Puke' EP and the 'Prime Motivator' album (2008). Their epic 2010 concept album 'Ruled' proved to be Lazar's swan song before leaving the band in 2011. While his departure seemed to mark the end of an era, the embers of their explosive sound would later reignite, proving that this was not the band's final act.

2014 brought sold-out reunion concerts with Lazar back at the helm, reuniting fans from far and wide. Bolstered by their support, the Giraffes began developing new material, resulting in their sixth album 'Usury', released to critical acclaim in 2015.  Finally, 2019 brought a new lineup with the addition of bassist Hannah Moorhead (Netherlands, Twenty Two’s) and new impetus with the release of the 'Flower of the Cosmos' album and remixes by Swervedriver's Adam Franklin and notable hip-hop record producer Blockhead.

Over the years, The Giraffes have toured with Eagles of Death Metal, Local-H, The Vacation and Skeleton Key, and shared the stage with Interpol, Fishbone, Yeah Yeah Yeah's and The Strokes. They've played SXSW, Bonnaroo, Amsterjam, Voodofest, Monolith, Northside and CMJ Festivals, and landed sync licensing placements in the 'Guitar Hero' video game, Sundance Festival winning film 'I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore', and the forthcoming 'Toxic Avenger' remake.

As of September 27, the 'Cigarette' album will be available everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

I Prevail Drop "TRUE POWER (EXPANDED)" EDITION + Top The Charts Once More!

Modern hard rock torchbearers I Prevail are having a banner 2024.

The band has just dropped the expanded edition of their latest album. TRUE POWER (EXPANDED) comes armed with a new song and three reimagined tracks. Get it here

The updated version includes the recently released new single "Hate This Song," an arena-sized collab track with alt-pop royalty All Time Low, while album singles "Bad Things, "There's Fear in Letting Go," and "Deep End" are all stripped back. These familiar, fan favorites get quiet yet beautiful reimagined makeovers. "Deep End" is softly lush, while "Bad Things" brings the beats. Elsewhere, "There's Fear In Letting Go" will haunt you with its simple instrumentation. The reworkings retain the power of the originals and still land with incredible impact.

"We're excited to announce/release TRUE POWER (EXPANDED) edition," says Eric Vanlerberghe.  "When writing and working on these songs, we had fun envisioning some of these songs in different ways. So instead of just giving you a few acoustic tracks, we reworked some of our favourite songs into something familiar yet different."

In other I Prevail news, the band's collab track with Halestorm, "can u see me in the dark?," just hit No. 1 on the rock radio charts. The song does not appear on the expanded edition of TRUE POWER. The bands performed the song live on their recent co-headline tour, which was one of the hottest tours of the summer.

ABOUT I PREVAIL
I Prevail have established themselves as the forerunners of the genre in the 21st century. Their latest record was once again produced by Tyler Smyth, features the sort of stadium-sized riffs that will rattle your teeth loose from your gums and unforgettable, supremely catchy melodies that will camp out in your brain for weeks at a time. The band also alternately mixes screamed vocals that sound as though they crawled from the depths of hell with soaring, emotional vocals and heartfelt, intimate lyrics that go so deep, they hit marrow. The end result is an album that resonates with the listener in the most personal way. Rising to an arena level and receiving two Grammy nominations — Best Rock Album for Trauma and Best Metal Performance for crushing lead single "Bow Down" — I Prevail proved that they were built to last. To date, they've racked up more than 4.2 billion global streams, are approaching 800 million YouTube views, and saw both "Hurricane" and "Bad Things" singles top Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 2020 and 2022 respectively. A number of their singles and album Lifelines have now been certified Gold and Platinum, and they have been praised by press far and wide, including Forbes, Billboard, The Hollywood ReporterPlayboy, Muscle + Fitness, and NPR. I Prevail have affirmed their position among the genre's elite.

“It’s great to look back and see our future unfurl — from little metal acorns mighty metal oaks do grow. One small step for metal, one giant leap for metalkind — a lifelong metal journey began with these songs. This album lit the eternal metal flame — as real and fresh as ever five decades on” — Rob Halford

In 1974 before the eternal metal flame was ever lit - Judas Priest were simply 5 young musicians in their 20’s – Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Ian Hill, KK Downing and John Hinch – from the Black Country an area of working-class towns in England - excited to have signed a record deal.

With limited funds, the band recorded during the less expensive night shift hours. The album Rocka Rolla was born during these sessions, under the guidance of producer Roger Bain who was brought in by the label and who had previously produced Black Sabbath.

Judas Priest learnt over time how to record an album - and the experience of working in a professional recording studio helped prepare them for the next album to come - one of the most definitive and foundational heavy metal albums of all time - Sad Wings of Destiny

But with Rocka Rolla the band was not there for the mixing, the mastering process or any final approvals — they didn’t have a say when it was finished or how it ultimately sounded. Although the band felt positive about how the songs sounded in the studio, they were particularly disappointed when they received a finished copy of the album in the mail to listen to for the first time.....

“I took the record… and I put the needle onto the groove and I sat back. And I just slowly started to deflate, deflate.” said Rob Halford. “I was so disappointed with the way it was sounding… All of us were - we’d all worked so hard to get to this place. And now this music that we know when we play live is roaring - the heavy metal is roaring even in those early primitive days - none of that was coming out of the speakers”

The band never had a future say in Rocka Rolla in the intervening decades — the re-releases and early-era compilations… but that was about to change.....

During Judas Priest’s 50 Heavy Metal Years tour in 2022, something remarkable was happening behind the scenes. The label that originally signed Judas Priest in 1974, Gull Records and its owner David Howells, decided to sell the masters and publishing rights for the two albums the label owned, Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings of Destiny — and he contacted Glenn Tipton’s music publisher, Michael Closter of Reach Music Publishing.

Texan titans Kublai Khan TX have released their new album 'Exhibition Of Prowess' (via Rise Records), the band's fifth album and first full-length since 2019's 'Absolute'. In celebration of the release, the quartet dropped the official visualizer for their track "Mud" taken from the album. Speaking about the track, vocalist Matt Hunnycutt commented:

"'Mud' is the scissors slowly closing in on the final thread keeping sanity intact. Entrenched and trapped with nowhere to go but deeper underground. Reflections and thoughts mirroring a man’s will to survive in a world obsessed with extinction. Low-tech, primordial soundwaves. Sludge-covered, sun-blistered frequencies of war and peace. "Mud" is mankind."

Leading up to today, the quartet released "Theory Of Mind", "Low Tech" and most recently, "Supreme Ruler" which altogether have clocked up over 15 million streams and counting on Spotify and 2.5 million views on YouTube. 'Exhibition Of Prowess' is available now on all streaming platforms at the link here, and watch the "Mud" official visualizer below.

Christian Hayes Releases Debut EP ‘Last I Love You’ via Capitol Records

When Rome, Georgia native Christian Hayes emerged onto the music scene this year with the release of "Leaving,” “LILY” (an acronym for “last I love you”) and “Cheyenne,” he gained instant recognition with Holler declaring him among their list of “Country and Americana Artists You Need To Know” and Nashville Briefing naming him an “Artist To Watch.” Now, Hayes arrives on Capitol Records with his debut EP, Last I Love You,encompassing those three songs along with newly released “Black Gold” and “My Memory.”

Listen to Last I Love You HERE.

The record casts a wide net, bouncing between campfire ballads, cinematic soundscapes and raw, rowdy barn-burners. At the center of that sound is Hayes himself: a wise-beyond-his-years musician who knows he can't move forward without taking a look at his past.

"This record is about who I used to be, and it sets the stage for who I'm going to be. It's the last 'I love you' to my old self,” Hayes shares. “I have skeletons in my closet, just like everyone else, and I want people to hear the authenticity in these songs. I'm not hiding anything."

Fusing Americana with cinematic folk, Last I Love You was produced by Lukas Bracewell and is an autobiographical introduction of Hayes’ journey to Music Row, beginning with “Black Gold,” which chronicles a two year stint in which he worked for his now ex girlfriend’s father selling oil and gas. Often clocking in 14-16 hour days – sometimes seven days a week, with very little pay – the period that “Black Gold” recalls was a formative one in Hayes’ life.

“I often struggled with self-love, so I sought that in other places,” Hayes recalls. “This EP highlights my journey in overcoming that discontentment and learning how to love myself. A lot of these lessons are highlighted, in the track ‘Black Gold,’ which is a true story that narrates my journey selling fuel which led me to the self-realization that the relationship and the job that I had were taking more than they were giving.”

“Black Gold” will be added to rotation on SiriusXM’s The Highway this weekend timed to its release.

Released in February 2024, "Leaving" was Hayes' debut single, an up-tempo song about making dumb mistakes and running away from problems. “LILY” followed in April. Its poignant evocation of the reluctant end of a relationship – along with the instant-classic refrain “I guess this is my last I love you” – struck a chord with listeners, who turned it into a viral hit, quickly sending combined global streams past the three million mark. Hayes released “Cheyenne,” an expressive, melodic journey through self-discovery and heartbreak, in July.

"People have told me about how much 'LILY' has helped them," Hayes explains. "It makes them feel like they're not alone. With three million streams and counting, the song reminds me that I'm not alone, either. It's brought a sense of togetherness to me and my audience, and maybe it's healed me more than it's healed anyone else."

To coincide with the EP release, Hayes is unveiling his first official music video today for “LILY.” Starting in a bedroom setting, illuminated by moonlight, and evolving into a new bedroom as the song progresses, the video symbolizes the journey of moving on from a past relationship, anchored by Christian’s raw performance.

The EP is capped with the reflective track “My Memory.” Evoking nostalgia for the home he grew up in, “My Memory” poetically recalls Hayes’ time spent on the front porch and its lasting impact on his life. The spot where he honed his craft and wrote the more than 900 songs he has in his journal, his front porch is also where he bonded with his father and matured beyond the defiant ways of his childhood.

Genuine and articulate, Hayes comes from a long line of storytellers that includes his Grandpa Jack – a poet by profession – who gave Christian his first journal. Born and raised in the foothills of Appalachia, Hayes began playing guitar at age eight. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve and attended the University of Alabama.

Hayes recently signed with Capitol Records, as well as with William Morris Endeavor (WME) for booking, Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) for publishing, Wildrose Projects for management and Flood Bumstead McCready & McCarthy (FBMM) for business management.

All songs on Last I Love You are self-penned except for “Black Gold,” which Hayes co-wrote with Jonathan Hutcherson.

Christian Hayes – Upcoming Tour Dates
Sept. 21 – AMERICANAFEST Showcase @ City Winery - Nashville, TN
Oct. 26 - River South Festival - Bainbridge, GA
Oct. 29 - Eddie's Attic - Atlanta, GA

ABOUT CHRISTIAN HAYES
Raised in the Appalachian foothills of northern Georgia, Christian Hayes grew up surrounded by southern storytelling. His grandfather — a poet by profession — encouraged him to begin writing in a journal at 7 years old, sparking a habit that would eventually take Hayes to Nashville. A veteran of the US Navy Reserve, Hayes began applying the discipline of his military training to his work as a songwriter, amassing more than 900 original songs by his mid-twenties. Five of those songs appear on Last I Love You, his debut for Capitol Records available now. Produced by Lukas Bracewell and steeped in Hayes' unique version of American roots music, Last I Love You features the viral single "LILY" (which racked up more than 3 million streams before the EP's official release), the anthemic "Black Gold," and a mix of effortless melodies, cinematic folk and rowdy, barn-burning Americana.

Chase Rice Releases Independent Album GO DOWN SINGIN’ + Poignant "You In '85" Music Video

Diamond-certified songwriter Chase Rice debuts his highly anticipated independent album, Go Down Singin’, a reflective 11-song collection that captures the raw, unvarnished truth of his personal journey. Today’s release marks a continuation of Rice’s creative evolution that began with last year’s critically acclaimed I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, an album celebrated by Billboard as “one of 2023’s most unexpected artistic pivots” and one of the best of the year across all genres. Listen to Go Down Singin’ HERE.

“It’s my first release in over 10 years as a fully independent artist,” notes Rice. “All we thought about when making this music was ‘how do we put the very best songs that I’ve got on one album?’ No thoughts of what’s popular right now, or what will work blow up or go viral, simply ‘who am I and what am I best at?’ It’s got songs about the music industry and what it can do to your soul; it’s got love lost songs; it’s got a song about my dad once again; it’s even got a murder song that might be my favorite song on the album. I hope you guys love this as much as I loved making it.”

Mirroring the cover art of the critically acclaimed I Hate Cowboys album, which features an image of his late father holding two Coors Banquets during the late ‘80s in Wyoming, Rice recreated that photo himself for Go Down Singin’ as he continues to honor the man who not only served as his childhood hero, but who also still shapes his music and the person he is today. That tribute is especially poignant with today’s release of the official music video for album track “You In ’85,” which features home footage of Rice and his late father. Watch below.

“I’ve always written songs like these but was never inspired enough to put them out,” he shared with the Tennessean. “Now I'm at a place where records I wasn’t inspired to let see the light of day define my career. Come hell or high water, this is the kind of music that I now make. For the first time in my career, people are buying into me more than drinking beers and enjoying the vibes I’m singing about.”

“Maturity and clarity are the reality on Chase Rice’s new album, Go Down Singin’,” declares Cowboys & Indians of the honest and vulnerable project, continuing, “Even though Rice launched his singer-songwriter career as a bro-country prodigy in 2011 when he penned ‘Cruise’ with Florida Georgia Line, that isn’t who Rice is. It’s who he was. Nowadays, Chase Rice is the seasoned artist behind what is sure to be one of 2024’s most well-received country albums of the year.”

“Stripping back to raw, acoustic elements, the album presents an authentic and deeply personal exploration of Rice’s life, career, and the emotional experiences that come with it,” adds Entertainment Focus. “Blending folk, country, and rock influences, Rice crafts songs that are both musically diverse and lyrically profound... From soulful acoustic ballads to anthemic rockers, each track tells a story, offering listeners a raw and heartfelt glimpse into Rice’s world. With its blend of introspection, nostalgia, and storytelling, this album solidifies Chase Rice’s growing reputation as a nuanced and mature voice in country music.”

As made evident by that introspective approach taken with the new music, Rice recognizes that life has to happen before you can really understand it. Playing football, getting hurt; NASCAR pit crews, moving on. Being swept up in a dream, hit singles, massive tours, stalling momentum. Growing up a good kid, but never quite becoming a man – and then suddenly the man you look up to the most is gone.

Marveling at being a work-in-progress, he considers the 11-song cycle an arrival on the brink of “being the man my father always believed I could be.” He also knows that in the end, the things that matter about what you love have little to do with fame or money. Like every great athlete, it’s about the heart: how hard it beats, how deep it reaches into whatever it is. Now, after what seems like so many chances, the Florida-born, North Carolina-raised dreamer is making good on what his father told him so many years ago, “Boy, anyone can play guitar, but no one is gonna really listen to you until you start singing.”

And writing. Though he co-wrote “Cruise,” arguably one of country’s biggest songs this century, Rice realized he’d only been skimming the surface. With Go Down Singin’ Rice emerges as a spirit settling into a more philosophical place yet still wildly committed to living wide open in pursuit of his dream and being the best man possible. Whether measuring the pitfalls and triumphs on the lean fiddle’n’harmony assessment of “Oh Tennessee,” the cascading acoustic guitar passage of simple wisdom from father to son in “Numbers,” or the smoky looking back at first loves in “Little Red Race Car,” there’s a knowing appreciation for how he got here.

In a voice sturdy as a retaining wall, Rice confesses, “I’m 39 now, and that’s part of it. I’ve journaled since I was 15 years old, but there’s something about being able to tell other people. I’m a deep person, but I don’t know to show it in real life, so I’m trying to do it in my music.

“For me, Go Down Singin’ is everything about where I am and what I want. I’m starting to see myself as who I want to be, not who I thought I should be. That’s a good start. And I think a lot of men struggle with this stuff, too.”

Getting honest, digging down, Rice shifted his approach. Working with Oscar Charles (Boy Named Banjo, Madeline Edwards, Elvie Shane), the pair worked to create a sound that was as honest, as real instrument grounded as the songs that were emerging. Written largely on guitars and piano, Go Down Singin’ shows a man reckoning with growing up.

“For one record, I thought I was Ed Sheeran. For one, I thought I was Florida Georgia Line,” he offers. “I was 22. I got into the party scene, I got lost. I didn’t know. I was very influenced by Eric Church, and wanted to be like him, though mostly, I was just so confused. You fall into things, being in the studio, and you look back…”

Now when Rice looks back, it’s for the sake of the songs. Reckoning with where he is, there’s a reflective sensibility that tempers the life rising and falling “That Word Don’t Work No More,” the honesty of “If Drinkin’ Helped,” and especially, “You In ‘85,” which sifts through memories of his father.

“That started as such a sad vocal. Oscar came in, started talking to me about what the song meant,” he begins. “I realized: this is a celebration and an opportunity. If you could sit down as a man now, have that one conversation with your father and say all the things… It shifted everything about who I am, and reminded me of all the small things that matter.” Pausing, he acknowledges, “I’m becoming the man he knew that I could be. I’m not there yet, but I’m getting there, getting to be someone my family can be proud of.”

As a writing process, “That Word Don’t Work No More,” “If Drinkin’ Helped,” “You In ‘85” and “Oh Tennessee” mark a creative – if seemingly unlikely – collaboration with three-time Grammy winner Lori McKenna, who is also featured on “That Word.” Known for vulnerable but clear-eyed emotion, the Americana force came to see Rice play in Boston and recognized the wounding and the promise inside him.

“I wanted to bring her ‘Oh Tennessee,’ because it was the story of moving to Nashville, getting anything you wanted and losing it all,” he recalls. “I knew she would understand, and from there, well, we had so much to say.”

Getting beneath the surface took hold. Even on fun songs like “Little Red Race Car,” the desire of burning through the mundane in “Fireside,” or the spoken voice-noted homage to fellowship, black dogs and tradition “Arkansas,” there’s a sense of detail and purpose that gets beyond slinging hooks. “You realize, even in a song like ‘Arkansas,’ you’re talking more about life than killing ducks; you’re talking about dogs and what’s going on. It’s so much more.”

And it’s also country music traditions. Like “Haw River,” a classic murder ballad based on avenging the children a bad preacher took advantage of. “We were in Wilmington, North Carolina, and there were four girls by the bus. One said, ‘I’m Kayla from Haw River,’ and my ears just went up. Blake said, ‘We should make that a murder ballad…,’ and we were off. Between the series ‘1923,’ about those priests beating up and raping Native American girls, and our imaginations, it got pretty dark.”

It also gets pretty light. “Hey God It’s Me Again,” a stately shuffle, takes stock of where he is, where he’s going and what really matters. Beyond taking stock, it’s as much a song of gratitude as it is begging for help, an ask for clarity and a place to go to feel connected.

“There’s a little bit of ‘Here I am again…’ for sure,” allows the man who’s had three No. 1s, his own sold-out tours and key stadium support slots with Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney. “But I’m trying… I was a lost kid who lost his Dad. I’m not alone. I know lots of people struggle, too. The last record dealt with that loss, and this one is about taking all that and becoming who you’re meant to be. I wrote ‘Hey God’ with Randy Montana and Cory Crowder, and I remember saying, ‘I don’t want to write with a track, I just want to write with guitars today. I knew: this needed to be absolutely real.”

With independent album Go Down Singin’ available everywhere now as the follow-up to the critically acclaimed I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, Rice’s sound continues to evolve to reflect the realities of his life; from emotional reckoning to an admiration of the American West. The new music serves as a follow up to his three-part project, The Album, which featured his latest Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” and the Platinum-certified Top 10 hit “Lonely If You Are.”

This is the same gravelly-voiced Chase Rice fans first fell in love with years ago – but better, freer; unbeholden and uninhibited. The new music builds upon the success of his sophomore album, Lambs & Lions, which featured the 3x Platinum, two-week chart topper “Eyes On You” – Rice’s first No. 1 as an artist and the most-streamed song of his career. Lambs & Lions followed Platinum-certified Ignite the Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and No. 3 on the all-genre chart, producing a pair of Top 5 hits; Platinum-certified “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and Double Platinum “Ready Set Roll.” In addition to guesting on sold-out stadium shows with Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Rice consistently sells out venues on his own headlining tours, including the recent Get Western Tour in support of his new music, and he is currently serving as direct support on Dierks Bentley’s Gravel & Gold Tour.

Beartooth Announce "The Surface (Deluxe Edition)" + Share "ATTN." Video

Hot on the heels of their most successful tour to date – spanning 60+ shows across North America and over 100k tickets sold — and a year after the release of their chart-topping fifth album The Surface, which earned the band their first pair of #1 singles at US Active Rock radio ("Might Love Myself" + "I Was Alive") and nominations at the Heavy Awards and Libera Awards, Beartooth have even more good news to share with fans.

The platinum-selling and billion-streaming Columbus rock band — Caleb Shomo, vocals; Zach Huston, guitars; Will Deely, guitars; Oshie Bichar, bass; and Connor Denis, drums — have dropped The Surface (Deluxe Edition) today, September 20, via Red Bull Records. Get it here.

The expanded edition of the album features the brand new song "ATTN.," which you can listen to here.

Watch the video below.

In classic Beartooth fashion, it's rife with hooks, supremely catchy verses, arena-filling, sing-along choruses, and monster breakdowns. The anthemic highs are reflective of Shomo's introspective journey to finding and loving his authentic self.

The high-energy video sees Shomo voyage through the subway system to his next stop, before taking an elevator back to the streets above — a metaphor for his professional and personal path from ground zero to the top.

"'ATTN.' is about the ultimate conclusion that I've come to after this whole album cycle and living with these songs for as long as I have now," says Shomo, who has spent the past few years diligently cultivating a positive mental attitude after years of sharing his inner demons via his lyrics.  "I think self-love has led to a deeper understanding of my value as a person, to myself and to others. I will always be proud of my art, and I will always be proud of the work that I've put in to say what matters to me. I think that's a great lesson for anybody to take in their own work and their own life."

Shomo continues, "Other people's perception of what you do does not dictate whether something is good or bad — that is only somebody's view. What matters is you, yourself, believing in your work and if it makes you happy and pushes you to be a better version of yourself. That is all that matters at the end of the day. Chasing that feeling and trusting it and finding a group of people that will empower you in that journey is what it's all about."

The Surface (Deluxe Edition) also includes new mixes of beloved album tracks and live cuts, the latter of which truly capture the band in its natural habitat — on stage and laying all of its cards face up on the table with and for their fans. The live renditions on the package were recorded at the Hard Rock in Sacramento, where they brought an unforgettable performance to a sold-out crowd. This fall, they’ll bring "ATTN." to audiences for the first time, as they embark on an 18-date run hitting iconic venues like Alexandra Palace.

Lastly, the track "In Between" is now officially an RIAA certified platinum single with over 1-million song sales in the U.S.

The Surface, was released in October 2023 on Red Bull Records. It has garnered 190 million streams to date, debuted at #1 on Billboard Hard Rock Albums, Luminate Alternative Albums, and Luminate Record Label Independent Current Albums, as well as #5 on Billboard's Top Album Sales. The single "I Was Alive" landed at No. 1 on both the Billboard Mainstream Airplay Chart and the US Mediabase Active Rock radio chart. Just six months prior, the album's previous single, "Might Love Myself," also hit No. 1 and was the band's first-ever chat topper at the format. Beartooth achieving back-to-back, chart-topping singles at radio was a huge testament to their decade of growth and the power of The Surface.

Like its predecessors, The Surface was an intensely personal and powerful journey for Shomo, who has never shied away from sharing his demons in his music and with his fans. However, the frontman has turned a corner with a more optimistic outlook and demonstrates exceptional growth as both an artist and a human being through the songs that comprise the album.

ABOUT BEARTOOTH:
Caleb Shomo first turned the pain of his struggle with mental health and self-image into music in 2013. Beartooth began as a living document, a diary, a journal of repressed rage and depression. Alone in his basement studio, screaming and singing, playing all the instruments, and self-producing a batch of furious but melodic songs filled with reflection and confession, the Ohio native stared into the abyss, initially with no intention of returning to the heavy music world that burned him as a teen.

A decade later, the different pieces of his body of work connect in title, sound, and spirit. As the frontman hits 30, Beartooth's fifth album, The Surface, completes this era in 2023. Even more importantly, it kicks off a new chapter filled with surprising optimism and just as honest. Depression is a sick, disgusting, aggressive disease below the surface. Caleb stands ready to bask in the light.

In its celebrated debut, The Surface hit #1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart and #5 across Billboard’s Album Sales, Alternative Albums, Top Current Albums, and Vinyl Albums charts. A product of Beartooth's fervent fanbase and radio-ready hits, the band also earned their first #1's on the Mediabase Active Rock and Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay charts for both "Might Love Myself" and "I Was Alive."

Like Nine Inch Nails, Beartooth remains a one-person band in the studio. On the heels of the introductory Sick EP (2013), Disgusting (2014) produced BEARTOOTH’s first Gold single, "In Between." Aggressive (2016) and Disease(2018) expanded on the desperation and pain, each a step closer to a balance between the blood and tears of classic recordings and the shimmer of modernity.

Rolling Stone heralded Beartooth as one of 10 Artists You Need to Know. The rabid response to Caleb's music demonstrated how many people related to his struggle for self-acceptance. Below (2021) topped the Rock and Alternative charts and several Best Rock/Metal Albums of the Year lists. Today, the Beartooth catalog boasts more than 1.3 billion streams across all platforms.

Beartooth began as both bomb and balm, an outright refusal to suffer in silence, weaponizing radio-ready bombast, delivering raw emotion mixed with noise-rock chaos. Other bands play the "devastating riffs and catchy hooks" game, but this music is the difference between life and death, and now, a sort of life after death while still here. The band Forbes sees "inching towards a tipping point of becoming the latest arena headliner" is now one step closer.
