Sleep Token are pleased to announce their Spring 2024 headline North American tour.  These dates are in addition to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Radio City Music Hall dates, which were announced at the end of 2023 and sold out immediately.

Empire State Bastard will also appear.

Artists pre-sale begins 10am local time on Wednesday, January 24. Fans can sign up for pre-sale tickets here.

The public on-sale is set for Friday, January 26 at 10am local time.

Sleep Token want to give fans, not scalpers, the best chance to buy tickets at face value. For fans who purchase tickets through Ticketmaster for the "Teeth of God" tour and can't attend, they will have the option to resell their ticket to other fans at the original price paid on Ticketmaster's Face Value Exchange. To help protect the Face Value Exchange, Sleep Token have chosen to make tickets for this tour mobile only and restricted from transfer. This applies to all Ticketmaster shows except those in NY and IL, where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated. Swedish Dark Metallers THE VICE Celebrate Album Release with "Lit de Parade" Music Video; New Album Out Now!

Swedish Dark Metallers The Vice have unleashed their highly anticipated album Dead Canary Run today, available via Noble Demon. This release marks a significant milestone in the band's history as it is the first time their music will be available on vinyl.

To commemorate the release of their new record, The Vice has unveiled a gloomy music video for their latest single, "Lit de Parade". The band comments:

Black magick metal masters Bewitcher will be embarking on their winter warm up run of live shows in the Pacific Northwest this week! BEYOND THE BLACK - RELEASE DELUXE EDITION OF THEIR LATEST STUDIO ALBUM 'BEYOND THE BLACK

After the release of their very successful self-titled album Beyond The Black, which was released in January 2023 the band now release a deluxe edition of their album. The deluxe edition features three bonus tracks 'I Remember Dying (Stranger Reprise)', 'Wide Awake (Piano Version)', and 'Raise Your Head (String Version)'. German Symphonic Metal ascending stars BEYOND THE BLACK can already look back across a stratospherically successful career, despite their youthful years. Upon release, their 2015 debut album hit like a bomb in their home country. Songs Of Love And Death besieged the German Top 15 for weeks, which led to the band being awarded the Metal Hammer Award for “Best Debut” in 2015. Its successor Lost In Forever (2016) entered the German charts at #4 and paved the way for a huge tour throughout Germany and across countries like the UK, Russia, and Japan. UK-France duo The Noise Who Runs comes out fighting in 2024 with their new five-song EP ‘Come and Join the Beautiful Army’ EP. This dark, brooding and sometimes disquieting collection straddles the line between hope and despair, defeat and optimism. These contradictions are embodied in the more full-on electronic approach with a stripped, more keyboard-oriented sound largely absent of any overt electric guitars, and the almost casual, nursery rhyme abstract cynicism of the lyrics.

The Noise Who Runs revolves around songwriter
Ian Pickering (of Sneaker Pimps and Front Line Assembly). Native to Hartlepool in the north-east of England, Pickering co-authored such Sneaker Pimps hits as 'Spin Spin Sugar', '6 Underground' and 'Tesko Suicide'. In 2019, he launched this project with Brazilian-French guitarist Felipe Goes, three years after relocating to Lille, France.

The Cell Studio, this album follows their debut album ‘Preteretrospective’, released in April 2023 to rave reviews and airplay in more than 40 countries. Earlier, The Noise Who Runs released the singles 'One Scratch Each''Mars Attached' and ‘Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In’.

Guitarist Felipe Goes says: “I don’t know where the guitars went. I think the amount of guitar that ends up in a song depends on how angry, sad, or whatever I feel. I believe this is the kind of thing that gives me the energy to keep playing and finding new ways to make the songs work. I guess I must have made peace with the world since there’s almost no guitar in any of these songs! Rather ironic isn’t it? Lyrically, this EP is the opposite of peaceful!”.
 
Lyrics, arguably, are Pickering’s greatest strength and certainly the songs on ‘Come and Join the Beautiful Army’ only add to his reputation. Here we have genuine poetry; insightful, disarming, original and unique.

“This EP is a call for solidarity in a world constantly being sown with division and discord. So far, the start of the 21st Century seems remarkably like repeating the mistakes of the early 20th Century. In the First World War, all that flag-waving, jingoistic sense of and pride in nationality across Europe, the othering of governments and nations all engaged in the same exploitation of other continents, resulted in the most obscene and needless carnage and it feels today as if nothing has changed, save that rather than conscript us all and send us to France and Belgium for the slaughter, the big push would appear to be starving us to death in our own homes while we work all the hours of the day for a monthly wage that barely covers the cost of living," says Ian Pickering.
 
“The beautiful army would be the people who reject the pathetic culture wars of populists, who proceed with compassion and empathy rather than instantly resort to knee-jerk outrage and sincerely believe that the some kind of optimistic future can still be salvaged from the slow motion chaos of the inevitable car crash in which we are currently forced to be passengers.”

He adds, “I would question the obsession of brands, marketing and advertising, primarily, on pushing such a vain, shallow concept of the individual - it’s a face-value, nothing beneath the surface kind of ideal. We are all born individuals, that should never need to be overtly demonstrated and insisted upon, it’s quite obviously what we all are. It can’t be proved with trinkets and adornments. The more salient point would be how we all come together as individuals and make a difference, a change for the better for the majority. Maybe the beautiful army lies in the forests away from the trenches; deserters, conscientious objectors and those that have been driven shellshock mad by the constant, oppressive noise of manufactured, idiotic right-wing culture wars.”

“This song is a special one to me. I wanted to close the EP with a slower feel to add some weight and depth to this wild ride of ‘Cult Classic’. “TENSION//RELEASE” brings it back to the beginning of our band when I wrote about grief and life after the death of my parents. It is a representation of where I am now and how grief never goes away but transforms. Mine has been the source of my momentum, keeping me running on a hamster wheel to distract from looking at this void. It puts a spotlight on the push and pull of depression and anxiety.“

“Sonically this song came together pretty fast, the vocal recordings were from the first day we wrote it. There was a rawness to it that we felt we could never match if we were to re-record it, so we kept it honest and raw.”

Rose Alaimo presents 'Power Lines', a song about how we as humans are all inter-connected to one other like never before. This is the second single from her new album 'A Place To Go When You Need To Hide', following the more grounding lead track 'Stars', which is about finding an unexpected moment of stillness in the midst of a crazy world.

This is the third full-length album from the Ithaca, NY-based artist. Honest, hopeful and emotive, Alaimo takes on her internal struggles as she finds her way through darkness to exercise her own will-power, freedom of choice and self-empowerment.

"The song ‘Power Lines’ is about the connections that exist between us, whether we are aware of them or not. One thing that was highlighted during Covid was how unbelievably interconnected we are. How fast the virus spread across the world was astounding, and in the middle of everyone debating mask and vaccination mandates and people becoming increasingly stressed and angry and there being more and more division between everyone, a tree was blown over on my property, taking the power lines down in front of my house. I walked outside and, after the shock of seeing this healthy tree ripped up by the roots by a strong wind, I noticed the lines that were down,” says Rose Alaimo.

“I saw how they were connected to my house, and how the main lines also connected to my neighbor's house, and how those same lines connected every single house on the street. I never stopped to notice how physically connected all of these houses were by these power lines and how what happened to my house affected everyone else around me. It struck me as an interesting analogy to how we as humans are also all more connected to each other and to the world around us than we might initially assume. These connections may not be visible but they are definitely there. We can spread viruses to each other and we can spread anger and fear, but if we are mindful of this interconnectedness, we can also choose to spread GOOD things: kindness and understanding and peace.”

Rose Alaimo writes, sings, performs, programs, records and co-produces her own music. Additional production and mastering was provided by Jamie Hill (Nada Surf, Zola Jesus, House of Pain), at Department of Energy Management in Tacoma, WA.  She released her more acoustic debut album 'The Importance of Centers' in 2019, followed by the gritty and anthemic 'Grow' in 2021.  

The emotional range of this album mirrors the intense highs and lows of life, from soft and dreamy lullabies, where we remember loved-ones who are no longer with us (
'Stars'), to anthemic, thrashy songs protesting Russia's war on Ukraine and unethical and dangerous world leaders ('Resist The Force'). On 'The Devil That You Know', she explores the challenge of letting go of familiar toxic patterns due to the fear of making changes in a world that feels increasingly unstable  wrapping up with 'Here I Am', a grounding and hopeful reprise medley reminding us of the stillness and peace that we can find, even in times of trouble.

"This album has been in the works for so long. It took years to process all these feelings and experiences and distill them into just ten short songs, but I’m really glad we didn’t try and finish this thing any sooner. It would have tasted so much different. The flavors needed time to develop. I couldn’t have written 
'Toll Road' until that bastard stole our money. 'The Snailmate Show' wasn’t a thing before we were forced to quarantine and couldn’t play live. And until we had to go through some intense physical changes, 'My Weird Gross Body' just wouldn’t have been the same," says  Kalen Lander.

"I beat myself up a lot during this whole process. I felt like I was taking too long to write the lyrics, and that meant that I was bad at writing. I had lost my touch. But then I really started to understand how, when I FINALLY finished the words for a song, it was perfect. It couldn’t have been perfect if I’d forced it out any sooner. And I think 'The Laziest Man in the World' encapsulates that sentiment better than anything." 

As part of the LGBTQ community and with Bentley being a transgender artist, Snailmate inspires their listeners to be unapologetic and unashamed of who they are, cultivating a fervent fanbase based on inclusivity and shows as a safe space for all genders and people of all sexualities.

Annie Bosko Releases Self-Titled EP Ahead of Late Night Debut on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" 1/8

With a voice that beams like a ray of California sunshine, Annie Bosko’s country music journey has seen her travel the world, evolving and exploring with the respect of fans and heroes alike. But after years of hard knocks and creative shapeshifting, Bosko is now coming home. Home to the record deal of her dreams. Home to simple country songs told from the heart, equal parts healing and hope. “I don’t think I’ve been able to capture it all this well before,” Bosko admits. “There’s a beauty of getting to a place where you stop trying to please people or chase what you think is cool, and just do what’s in your heart. It’s about creating what you feel the world needs right now, and for me, I miss those songs that made me move to Nashville.”
 
With a “fearless” pure-country sound and edge-of-your-seat songwriting, Bosko captures the full range of this American art form at its best – working with co-writers like Jeffrey Steele, Bridgette Tatum, Danny Myrick and more to uplift, inspire or just sing along with women everywhere.

Returning to California to make her late-night debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday, January 8 with lead single “Neon Baby,” the track captures a sensual side of mature femininity, as Bosko flexes her “neo-traditional” soul for a passionate, steel-laced slow burner.
 
Hope can be found in “Sometimes I Forget,” as the tried-and-true artist delivers a “much needed” message of gratitude. With spirit-lifting lyrics and a sonic swell of warm country rock, it’s an acknowledgment of the little things we take for granted – those small blessings that make us “us.” For Bosko, finally being able to see those little things has let her become the country artist she was always meant to be.

Indie musician and songwriter Leon Frear presents 'A Town Called Chapel', the second offering from his debut album 'Wild Rice', which introduces the listener to a man still affected years later by the frisson and fallout of a clandestine love affair.

A seasoned musician, this album represents a new start for him under this moniker. Now based in Chicago, Frear describes this single as “a poison pen love letter to an historically musical time and place, to big blown-up plans and irreplaceable, lost relationships. No matter what else I say, It's a letter I sign with love.”

“The song ‘A Town Called Chapel,’ is the opening track on my album because it paints the landscape and provides background on the insular, dissolute college town / former-small-town music mecca that this whole experience sprang from," says Leon Frear.

"It's a song about knowing that you need to leave a situation that is grimy, bad for you and a little hedonistic. But you're so used to it - the feeling is so warm and comfy that you just can't bear to leave. I might sound hypercritical of the place and maybe that makes me a hypocrite. But I’m also from there and a fair target for these less flattering descriptions myself. Love, lust, and naïveté. All that stuff. It's part of me. It's my home."

This follows the artist's debut single
'Secret Second Moon' with its fantastic animated video, created by French artist Ronald Grandpey. It's a powerful introduction to a collection of songs that reflects a dramatic period in which Frear experienced a life-altering love affair, its implosion and aftermath, followed by a decade of reflection and changes.

Informed by his own personal experience, Frear's music speaks of love, lust, broken promises, broken phones, and multiple incinerated bridges. This 10-track collection was produced by Frear in his home studio in Chicago, playing every instrument and capturing every breath to tape during a recording process that took years in isolation to complete.

About the forthcoming album, Leon Frear says, "'Wild Rice' is the story of those times, but told in reflection. The songs came from a place of true grief, regret and a little bit of anger. But through all of those things, I gained wisdom and became a better person. And while the details may be different, I think every human on this planet shares in the experience of feelings of grief. Ultimately, I think it is an album about empathy."

"Sonically, I was inspired to make Wild Rice while listening to old Leonard Cohen albums, Harvest by Neil Young, Stories from the City by PJ Harvey and lots of old ballads by Nick Cave. Those albums and artists sound weary and world worn and I did my best to capture a similar feeling."

Laced with hints of sadness and regret, anger and remorse, somehow the lyrics are tempered with a sardonic wit that leaves the listener wondering if Frear doesn’t secretly savor feeling bad, just for laughs. If there’s an opportunity to mock an uncaring universe, this is an opportunity Frear doesn’t let go to waste.  

Dubbing his brand of post-alternative music “vocabulary rock”, Frear aims to shift the emphasis away from the man and towards the music and lyrics, while inviting the listener to commiserate together through this exploration of grief, depression and sadness.

SECOND SHOOTER UNVEIL DEBUT FULL LENGTH FURY MADE FLESH AND ANNOUNCE JANUARY TOUR

Extreme metallists Second Shooter are readying the release of their latest effort – a brutal full-length debut entitled Fury Made Flesh, which arrives on January 19, 2024 via Into Records. The culmination of five years of work for the band – vocalist Melanie Johnson, guitarists Travis Hildreth and Wynn McElwee, bassist Jeff Clark, and drummer Jim Wilinski – was inspired by the craziness going on around the world and in their own lives during recent times.

With all the band members contributing to the writing of the music and lyrics for the album (which arrives in the wake of two earlier EP's, Second Shooter and What Was Left Behind), the tracks were recorded by the band in their studio – with Jim acting as engineer during tracking, and Jeff then mixing and mastering the album.
 
The album title Fury Made Flesh is taken from the lyrics of the song "Bringer of Death" about the Hindu goddess Kali, who was also the inspiration for the cover art (created by illustrator David Paul Seymour). Tracks like "Diana the Huntress", "Protect and Serve", "Caged", "Gold Plated Pervert", and "For All the Parasites" are topical songs, while "Bleeding Ear", "Set Adrift", and "Suffocate Eternal" delve into personal trauma. "Palm Reader" and the aforementioned "Bringer of Death" veer into the supernatural to round out the album. 
 
The end result is an album that the band is excited about and that shows who they are today as a band and as musicians. "Much of the previous material we released was partly written by past members of the band," explains the band. "But Fury Made Flesh is the five of us working together to challenge ourselves as artists as we connect with an ever-growing audience. We pull together influences from groove metal, hardcore, death metal, thrash, progressive metal, and even a pinch of doom to make something that is uniquely us."
 
"As dedicated metal fans ourselves, our goal has always been to perform music that makes people want to move. Second Shooter gives live performances our all, feeding our audiences our energy while feeding off theirs in return. Our overarching ethos is 'No gimmicks, no bullshit, just metal.'"
 
And on the same date as the album's release, the band will be hitting the road in support of Fury Made Flesh, as they will be touring with Go Ahead and Die on the Unhealthy Mechanisms Tour alongside Body Box – beginning on the 19th in Tucson, and wrapping up on the 28th in Houston.

SCAREFIELD, the electrifying, horror infused force in the world of thrash metal, SIMONE MANULI and MARKUS KRISTOFFERSSON, is set to shake the foundations of the music scene with their latest single and accompanying animated music video, "Ancient Evil." “We’ve always been enthralled by the works of H.P. Lovecraft ever since first reading the story ‘The Call of Cthulhu’. It’s been a great pleasure as musicians to try and put the feelings of cosmic dread we’ve felt reading the stories to paper and into the music itself. When writing the song ‘Ancient Evil’ we wanted to make sure the dynamics of the song fit well with the lyrics and the progression of the story. Even the instruments provide feelings of doom and magnitude, from the chanting of the cultists in the chorus to the impending dread of the guitar solo. It could appear like an easy listening metal song but the structure is more complex than expected: different bpms and time signature, from classic 4:4 to 5:4 and 7:4, several vocal lines and electric guitar layers, very fast double kick drum parts. It will remind you of many metal band styles: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Blind Guardian. It’s what we were looking for and we hope you like it as we do.” – SCAREFIELD

"Ancient Evil" encapsulates the essence of SCAREFIELD's signature sound—ferocious, relentless, and unapologetically heavy. The track weaves a tale of cosmic horror inspired by the works of the legendary H.P. Lovecraft, plunging listeners into a world where ancient malevolence lurks in the shadows.

The accompanying animated music video for "Ancient Evil," created by ANDREA MANTELLI, is a visual feast, bringing the nightmarish narrative to life with stunning and eerie imagery. Fans can expect a journey through eldritch landscapes and encounter otherworldly creatures, perfectly synchronized with the band's sonic onslaught.

“Since the story of the track ‘Ancient Evil’ was so important and could obviously not be displayed through a live action video, we decided animation was the way to go. The illustrations picked for the animations are meant to provide the listener with a sense the magnitude of the story in the song as a world-shattering event of cosmic horror as the high priest of the great old ones awakens!”

SCAREFIELD is a speed / thrash metal band inspired by the horror genre, in particular by the colourful and bombastic 80’s horror movies. The music consists of many familiar themes of both speed and thrash metal with additional influences from more modern forms of metal music, such as melodic death metal, as well as classic heavy metal. SIMONE MANULI, the founder of SCAREFIELD, reached out from the plains of northern Italy to the frigid north of the arctic circle in northern Sweden where he would come in to contact with vocalist MARKUS KRISTOFFERSSON. The music, produced by Simone, was co-written and co-composed by the two members, melding their unique styles and influences into an interesting new take on the classic metal styles incorporated.

Self-produced and -written, the music contains massive atmosphere, fast riffs, melodic strings and heavy drums. The vocals are a mix of clean melody and power as well as the harsher death metal style vocals of the modern day. The lyrics contain topics such as personal stories, interesting concepts and of course the aforementioned horror theme!

During 2023 the band released 4 single tracks leading to the upcoming album the following year. These singles included 3 original songs as well as a metal version of the traditional folk song "House of the Rising Sun" featuring RICH GRAY from ANNIHILATOR on bass and HUGO RIBEIRO from MOONSPELL on drums.

With an incredible story to share, Manchester-based synthwave artist
Richard Evans has released his new retro-futuristic EP 'Dream of the World' via Cold Star Media. Recorded at Cold Star Studios in July 2023 after recovering from a life-threatening illness. It's no wonder that the inspiring title track is about remaining positive even in the darkest times, as reflected in the accompanying video.

A British-Irish electronic musician, writer and digital media artist, Evans was previously keyboardist in UK cult band
James, with whom he also co-wrote and recorded material. Previous to that, he was also guitarist and songwriter for St. Vitus Dancers.

This was no easy feat. Struck with Miller Fisher Syndrome, a rare debilitating auto-immune disorder (a variant of Guillain-Barre Syndrome) in 2022, it would require Evans' full recovery, something that is not guaranteed to most people suffering from this ailment. He also had to learn to do everything all over again, including speaking, singing and playing music. But he managed to do exactly that, against the odds.

This superb
3-track EP follows Evans' 2022 debut record 'Sentinel', an electro-pop concept album tthat touches on micro-plastics, gene editing, stardust, technogenic disasters, human evolution, among other themes, this superb eight-track collection telling the story of humanity at a tipping point and a world trapped in a climate crisis.

"'Dream Of The World' is a call to action in the face of an unrelenting climate crisis and, on a personal level, it reflects on a health situation that affected me in late 2022. I was diagnosed with Miller Fisher Syndrome, a rare auto-immune disorder that impacts around one in a million people each year and is a variant of Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I found parallels between the life-threatening aspects of the climate crisis and a condition which decimated nearly all of my body’s functions," says Richard Evans.

"I literally woke up one morning in the midst of losing all muscle control. Over the course of a single day, I became unable to open my eyes, to sit, stand or walk, even to eat or swallow food. I was hospitalised for a month and for the first 10 days of this stay, there was a real risk of respiratory failure. Alongside a treatment plan, I kept going with positive visualisations, mentally depicting future times when I would be well again. If nothing else, this practice helped me find the strength to endure the most challenging experience of my life."

Evans adds, "Once I was released from hospital, music became an important part of my recovery - learning to sing and play keyboards again helped me regain control of my arms, hands and facial muscles. For a long time I had double vision and didn’t have the concentration to work on a computer. However I could play piano for short periods and was able to resume some vocal work after a couple of months. This phase created an unexpected change in my writing process, which previously was built around riffs and sequences developed on a computer. 'Dream Of The World' was composed entirely with piano and voice."

Richard Evans' draws inspiration from real-world science, exploring biotechnology, machine intelligence and the environment. For this album, existing songs were refined and new material was written, combining the warmth of classic synths with pared-down lyrics that explore real-world subject matter.

The Song
'Dream Of The World' reflects how the climate emergency is met with procrastination and indifference from most governments and corporations, as if the switch to zero carbon is somehow beyond human control. The lyrics are also about facing mortality on a personal level, with Evans singing, "I won’t bow to the hand of fate", emphasizing that we don’t always have to accept the hand we’re dealt.

With the sonically hypnotic effect of its single sequence and drum pattern,  
'2084' is about those who deny science and convince others of a different reality, underscored by the lyrics "Hear the priests lie that black is white".

'Motherlode' is a previously unreleased track, recorded during the 'Sentinel' sessions in 2021. It's about the phenomena of algorithmic trading - flash trades - and how ‘the market’ advances in cities worldwide each day to relentlessly exploit planetary resources.

Richard Evans' output extends well beyond the musical realm. He recently received a New Ideas Fund award from Creative UK to develop a virtual production studio. The award supports content for future stage shows and a new sci-fi short film, called 'DeepSleep', which was written and directed by Richard and is due for release in 2024.

Since the early 1980s, Evans' independent creative projects have received nine awards from Arts Council England and a separate one from Creative England, in addition to being commissioned for various projects by the University of Manchester and the Manchester Science Festival.

Evans also wrote, directed and produced
 the science fiction drama 'AEON'. An author of many short stories, he also published the novel 'KOSMONAUT ZERO' (via Dead Ink), researched at Star City Cosmonaut Training Centre. He also oversaw the 'Gagarin 50' exhibition for the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin.
