At long last, groundbreaking shoegazers The Veldt have released their 'Illuminated 1989' album on vinyl via Portland-based Little Cloud Records and North Carolina’s 5BC Records. This is the original 1989 full-length record produced by Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie, who also remastered this album especially for vinyl. While originally intended to be the band's first album, their label Capitol Records shelved the recording and sent them back into the studio with producer Lincoln Fong (Moose, Piroshka), resulting in their first album released with the title 'Marigolds'.

They earlier previewed the singles 'Angel Heart', 'The Everlasting Gobstopper', and 'Aurora Borealis' (featuring Elizabeth Fraser cameo on backing vocals and a B-side remix by The Veldt). The Veldt has also just wrapped up their U.S. tour with TREMOURS, culminating in a performance at Seattle's KEXP.

One of the most notable first-wave shoegaze bands, formed in North Carolina in the 1980s, The Veldt revolves around identical twins Daniel Chavis (vocals, guitar) and Danny Chavis (guitar). Their unique sound was influenced by Cocteau Twins as readily as Marvin Gaye and free-jazz warriors Sun Ra and Pharaoh Sanders. Referencing European post-punk while embracing modern hip-hop, these trailblazers work with transient dreamscapes as fluidly as solid song structures.

Pitchfork included The Veldt's album 'Afrodisiac', produced by the legendary Ray Shulman (The Sundays, Bjork, The Sugarcubes) and released via Mercury Records, in the top 50 shoegaze albums ever released, while Stereogum included ‘Until You’re Forever’ in the top 31 shoegaze tracks. Their sound also inspired future generations of alternative artists, including TV On the Radio.

The Veldt's journey is fascinating. Performing since they were children, the Chavis brothers’ musical roots lead back to the church and southern juke-joints, and listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. The Veldt formed in the late 80’s in Raleigh amongst the legendary North Carolina music scene of the time, initially signing with Mammoth Records - leading to a chain of major-label relationships that took the group across Europe and the U.S. playing shows with the likes of Throwing Muses, Pixies, Cocteau Twins and Jesus & Mary Chain.

After moving from Raleigh to New York, they briefly performed as Apollo Heights before returning to their original name The Veldt. Joined by Japanese bassist-programmer Hayato Nakao, they together forging music that is a heady and sensual blend of shoegaze and progressive soul, dreamy soundscapes and infectious grooves. Some of the band's recent notable releases include 'The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur' EP (2017) and the album 'Entropy is the Mainline to God' (2022).

Over the years, The Veldt has collaborated with TV On The Radio, Mos Def, Lady Miss Kier (Deee-Lite), A.R.Kane and toured or played with Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pixies, Throwing Muses, Echo & The Bunnymen, Cocteau Twins, Manic Street Preachers, Phantogram, Modern English, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Oasis, Chuck D, Living Colour and Schooly D.

The 'Illuminated 1989' album is out now on limited edition translucent pink or clear vinyl with a gatefold sleeve. It is also available from fine digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.

TEMIC Release Acoustic Version of "Acts of Violence"

TEMIC revolve around many moving parts: djenty riffs, acrobatic drum breakdowns, neon synth runs that pump hard enough to ignite a rave. After all, they are prog's new supergroup.

Today, TEMIC are revealing yet another piece of their proggy puzzle with a pared-down performance of what's perhaps the most tender deep cut on their new album.

This video was directed and produced by TEMIC's drummer Simen Sandnes. It was recorded live at Stora Teatern in Gothenbrug, Sweden. The theater is just a floor up from the studio where Sandes recorded the drums on Terror Management Theory.

"Acts of Violence" already showed off the softer, more introspective side of Terror Management Theory. The song fits squarely within the album's larger theme of wrestling with our own mortality, but this new acoustic version really strips those emotions bare. The recording's rafter-reaching guitar solo resigns to a jazzy piano interlude that's so delicate it could shatter at any moment beneath Diego Tejeida's nimble fingers. But Fredrik Klemp still packs plenty of firepower with his booming falsetto.

"This impromptu, one-take performance occurred at Stora Teatern in Gothenburg, Sweden, in February 2022, during the vocal recording sessions at Top Floor Studios", says TEMIC. "The video - shot by our drummer Simen -captures the sincere and intimate nature of the moment. Fredrik and Diego didn't rehearse or pre-arrange this version; it was a real-time improvisation. It's been a month since the release of Terror Management Theory, and we're thrilled with the response it's received. To show our gratitude, we want to share this performance with you.

TEMIC are already living up to their billing as prog's new supergroup. Their debut album, Terror Management Theory, just topped the charts in the Netherlands and reached #15 on iTunes Worldwide Metal chart.

Diego Tejeida and Eric Gillette first got the idea to start a band together when they were touring members of Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress. Here are just some of the nice things that their fellow road dog had to say about Terror Management Theory.

Introducing TEMIC—prog’s newest, most ambitious, and most adrenaline-fueled act. TEMIC melds the creative minds of keyboardist and sound designer Diego Tejeida (Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress, ex-Haken), guitarist Eric Gillette (The Neal Morse Band, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress), drummer Simen Sandnes (SHINING, Arkentype), and vocalist Fredrik Klemp (Maraton, 22).

The origins of TEMIC date back to 2017, when Tejeida and Gillette toured the world as band members of Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress. From the very first chords they exchanged, their musical chemistry both on and off stage was undeniable, leading them to discuss the prospect of starting a new band together. Unfortunately, conflicting tour and recording commitments forced them to turn their attention elsewhere for years—that is, until the world came to a standstill in 2020, and Tejeida called Gillette to ask a fateful question:
“Remember how we said we should make music together? Well, how about now?”

Thus, the first demos for what would later become TEMIC’s 2023 debut album, Terror Management Theory, began to emerge. Within a few weeks after that initial phone call, the musical vision of TEMIC had become clear: Let’s create progressive music that is heavily influenced by high-energy electronic music, but arranged and orchestrated for a 5-piece modern prog rock/metal band—where, at last, the pulse can be the focus, and the vocal melody can be king.

Eager to join forces with the very best bandmates, Tejeida and Gillette first summoned the rhythmic power of their friend and drummer Sandnes. With characteristic enthusiasm, Sandnes seized the opportunity, prepared to contribute his percussive prowess as the heartbeat of TEMIC. When it came time to find the singer that would carry TEMIC’s melodies to new heights, Sandnes recommended vocal powerhouse Klemp, whose emotive delivery and unmatched intensity left no doubt that he was destined to be the voice of TEMIC. Finally, to round out the rhythm section of Terror Management Theory, dynamic bassist Jacob Umansky (Intervals) was invited on board as a guest player, gracing the album with an unrivaled groove and a signature low-end sound.

Together, this mammoth lineup is TEMIC, a high-energy, electronic-inspired, modern melodic prog metal band for the next generation.

PROFANATICA Announces February Headlining U.S. Tour

USBM legends PROFANATICA will embarking on an East Coast U.S. headlining tour in early 2024, with support from NUNSLAUGHTER + TOMBS! PROFANATICA are at the vanguard of the first wave of American black metal. Founded and led by infamous master of black perversion Paul Ledney (drums/vocals), they have purveyed primeval blasphemy for nigh on thirty-three years.

Ledney formed the band from the ashes of the first INCANTATION lineup when he split and took with him all of the members sans John McEntee. That early trio of ex-INCANTATION members reeled off three ground-breaking demos of some of the most extreme and blasphemic metal of its time in rapid succession. The band flyers that permeated the tape-trading circuit were no less shocking and featured the trio bloody and naked and in the throes of what was most certainly a primeval summoning of some kind. In short order, they had inked a deal with the fledgling Osmose Productions for what became one of that labels first releases (Osmose release #5); a legendary split with Colombia's MASACRE.

Something so volatile could only last briefly, and after another brief recording session the band collapsed under the weight of its own extremity. but the recordings made in this two year window went on to see dozens of reissues in the coming decades, in a testament to how formidable and formative they are to the black metal scene worldwide.

After almost fifteen years spent with his equally polarizing solo project HAVOHEJ, Ledney reignited the flames of PROFANATICA in 2006. Reemerging with a new deal from Hells Headbangers, Ledney and his new band released 'The Enemy of Virtue', a collection of that vaunted early material, and a new fulllength, 'Profanatitas de Domonatia'. A triumphant return, 'Profanatitas de Domonatia' picked up right where these Kings of US Black Metal left off, delivering a savage stream of chainsaw guitars and relentless battery upon which they desecrated everything sacred.

This set-in motion another frenetic burst of work for PROFANATICA. The next decade saw them

unleash four new full-length albums of blasphemous perversions, sacrilegious incantations, and furious black metal. In addition, the band issued six mini-albums and EP's, a full DVD of early footage, and began touring internationally in Europe and in Central and South America. For the first time PROFANATICA were appearing near or at the top of the bill at festivals like Maryland Death Fest, Messe Des Mortes, Hells Headbash, Prague Death Mass (Czech Republic), Chaos Descends (Germany), Black Sun (Spain), Tyrant Fest (France), SWR Fest (Portugal) and many more.

In fall 2018, PROFANATICA joined forces with Season of Mist and undertook their biggest tour to date supporting WATAIN and ROTTING CHRIST across Europe. And a year later, the trio vomited forth a most vulgar strain of black metal ejaculate with their SoM debut album 'Rottng Incarnation of God.'

The band embarked on an extensive twelve-country European headline tour in the album's wake. Shortly after returning home that winter, the world ground to a halt in 2020. Save a live-streaming concert production for the legendary Rock al Parque in conjuncton with BATUSHKA, little was heard from PROFANATICA.

That is until spring 2023, when PROFANATICA emerged from their den of iniquity on a European headline tour to promote a new album. 'Crux Simplex' is a ten-track offensive of sin and sacrilege, a nasty affront that bastardizes the first 10 stations of the cross. As per their legacy, PROFANATICA deals in bestial, first-wave black metal barbarity, and their eighth album unveils ungodly levels of bile and blasphemy.

New Jersey art-rock outfit Elk City present their seventh album 'Undertow'. From the opening title track, this album sucks you into a different kind of record. Recorded, mixed and mastered by renowned producer (Guided By Voices, Luna, Gramercy Arms), this album was released via NJ-based Magic Door Record Label, co-founded by Guided by Voices' Kevin March, Ketchem and artist Renée LoBue.

'Undertow' was created with peculiar pop constructs built of rare materials, found only in the wilds behind Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, where Elk City meticulously built this record and this band a whole other way. Songs often begin with improvised live-jams that become load-bearing beams for layers of instrumentation and harmonies. Elk City’s live shows also push boundaries of what a band should be.

Founded by Renée LoBue and Ray Ketchem, Elk City is rounded out by Luna’s Sean Eden, Richard Baluyut (Versus) and Chris Robertson (Psychedelic Furs side project Feed, Punch Havana).

After seven albums, Elk City are still deliberately hard to define, still seekers, leading the listener on a journey to new sounds and feelings. And as long as they remain curious, they will report back what they have found, with albums like 'Undertow', packed with siren songs to lure you in and fill you with a devout ecstasy, body and soul. You came here looking for something. And now you know... Welcome to Elk City.

Like their previous album 'Above the Water', this record is inspired by the band’s love of documentaries and films that explore the allure of cults and extreme alternative lifestyles. Ahead of this album, the band released the singles 'Tried To Move On' and 'Strong (You're Not Alone)'.

“The albums 'Undertow’ and ‘Above the Water’ were written and recorded simultaneously. We actually considered releasing them together as a double album. Numerous songs on ‘Undertow’ are long and sprawling and take the listener on unexpected adventures. But, of course, there are a few pop songs too,” says Ray Ketchem.

Renée LoBue adds, “Undertow is the darker continuation of our latest 'Above the Water' LP. As Ray mentioned, both records were recorded at the same time. Undertow stands alone as a listening experience. You can hear us going deeper into unchartered sonic waters.”

New Jersey's CR and The Nones present 'The Hills of Pennsylvania', the latest single from their sophomore album 'The Ghosts Are Coming Home', released via Montclair label Magic Door Records. They earlier previewed two singles in the lead-up to this epic release - 'The Long Game' and the record's title track.

Gennone came of age playing in various projects in suburban New Jersey, including his former band, CR and The Degenerates, who released five albums from 2016 to 2018. This new project has allowed him to expand the unique hybrid of folk, country, punk, and heartland rock. CR and The Nones retains the Degenerates' core of Chris Gennone, lead/slide guitarist Jim Abbott, and bassist John Dewitt.

'The Hills of Pennsylvania' is the most Americana-influenced track on the album. Chris Gennone notes, "I wrote this song in my car while driving to visit my grandmother in the hospital. I started humming a melody and the words came pretty quick. She's hanging in there, but I was on edge! My friends Andrew Merclean and Liz Sadkowski shot this video at my apartment and around some farm land outside of Kutztown, PA".

CR and The Nones released their debut album 'Living In Fear' in 2020. Recalling past Garden State guitar music, Gennone’s soulful vocals and his band’s driving hooks invoke roads, journeys, and forward motion in general. Counting Neil Young and Jason Molina among major influences, his sound has always been propulsive.

Mixed by renowned producer Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Versus, Elk City, Gramercy Arms) at Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, this album was produced by Chris Gennone (CR to his friends) and mastered by Nick Bolton at Bolton Sound in Jersey City.

'The Ghosts Are Coming Home' is a culmination of the sound and aesthetic that CR Gennone has been building over many years and multiple bands. With an expansiveness and introspection that recalls The War on Drugs or early My Morning Jacket, the ten tracks here showcase an irresistible sincerity and heartfelt delivery.

"I wrote and recorded this album before, during and after Covid, and I lived in five different places during this time, so it was a different experience than other stuff I’ve made. In the past, we’ve kind of just rolled with it and come up with guitar leads, riffs, and sounds on the fly. With Covid lockdowns and the help of some friends, this record really gave me the time and space to write and play my own leads, sing my own harmonies, change arrangements, and take on more of the production aspect of it," says CR Gennone.

"I went through a lot of personal changes during the making of this record and I feel like the songs kind of take you through that journey. It’s a hopeful record, but also one that still features loss and even desperation at times. But by its end, there’s a feeling of acceptance and understanding."

More thoughtful and purposive in his songwriting for this album, and encouraged by friends from the NYC and NJ music scenes, Gennone was lured out of his normal songwriting process and comfort zone, opening him to new influences and fostering his growth as a songwriter. Gennone recalls listening to Brian Eno non-stop while recording 'Ghosts', and the synth sounds and ambient textures that underpin much of the album are certainly a testament to that.

Osiah Release New Album 'Kairos' via Unique Leader Records

Finishing up a momentous 2023, deathcore quartet Osiah have released their new album 'Kairos' via Unique Leader Records. Accompanying the release, the band shared their new track "The Inherited Sorrow" along with the official music video. 'Kairos' is Osiah's fourth album and the follow-up to their 2021 full-length, 'Loss'. When asked about today's news, the band commented:

"'Kairos' is a true departure from the past with a valiant stride to Osiah's progression. Instrumentally it encapsulates the very essence of us as musicians and lyrically it is inspired by a recent burying of the hatchet, and focusing instead on understanding the concept of mortality. It is fury-fueled, but intelligently constructed, resulting in a sound that is both old and new to fans of Osiah, a perfect introduction or concatenation for those who’ve been with us from the start of our onerous journey."

Hailing from the extreme music melting pot that is the northeast of England, Osiah transcends the deathcore label with what could possibly be the most torturous barrage of filth the UK has produced in recent years. Crushingly intense breakdowns and deathly chops tread a familiar path, but jarringly detuned guitars, unpredictable tempo changes and vocals that range from wide-ranging pitched screams to commanding guttural bowel openers add an extra evil to the sound that cannot be put into words.

After releasing their first EP 'Reborn Through Hate' in 2015, Osiah released their first full-length album ‘Terror Firma’ in June 2016 via Siege Music. The album gained praise from Metal Hammer Magazine, Bloody Disgusting, and many other prestigious publications, cementing the band as the hottest and heaviest band on the UK deathcore scene.

The resulting work lead to the band signing to Unique Leader Records in 2018 and releasing their sophomore album 'Kingdom of Lies' in 2019. In 2021, Osiah released their third album 'Loss' and unleashed their latest EP 'Chronos' in early 2023.

Tooth & Nail Drops The Rocky Valentines x Starflyer 59 Split EP

Today, December 8, Tooth & Nail Records is releasing a split EP between classic T&N band Starflyer 59 and new band The Rocky Valentines. The Rocky Valentines features frontman Charlie Martin, who is the son of Starflyer 59 singer Jason Martin. So it's all in the family and a legacy release. Listen to the music, which is also available on vinyl, here.

On the EP, Starflyer 59 reimagine two of their songs with an orchestral arrangement with Frank Lenz. The Rocky Valentines contribute two of their own tracks, as well.

"Tooth & Nail is celebrating their 30th anniversary, which is cool," says Jason. "We started with the label so long ago that we, of course, wanted to be involved. Things have now gone full-circle with my son being old enough to front his own band, so a split release seemed like a fun idea."

Charlie concurs, stating, "I've been writing and recording music for a couple years now, mostly with my dad. But the idea of us both having songs on the same release just seemed so cool to me."

The EP artwork was also designed by Ryan Clark, who is also a member of the extended Tooth & Nail/Solid State family, having been in both Training for Utopia and Demon Hunter.

ARCHETYPES COLLIDE demand repeated listening, mixing everything from Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon to The Chainsmokers, and Stranger Things-style retro synths, into a unique musical identity. A collection of singles and EPs drew a devoted fanbase and the attention of Oshie Bichar, bassist for Beartooth. Bichar enlisted his management, and the pair took Archetypes Collide under their wing. Leeds-based Italian-born artist Stella Wembley shares 'Wasting My Time (Cold Minimal Wave Remix)', with a vibrant dancefloor beat over icy synth pop. This is the second track from her recently-released 'Wasting My Time' EP. Presenting four tracks of sheer electro-goth delight surrounding the track 'Wasting My Time', Wembley proves herself to be a rising star of the UK dark synth and gothic scene.

A vocalist, lyricist, composer, music producer and video director, Wembley began her musical career in Italy as a soprano while studying opera at the Royal Conservatory of Music ‘San Pietro a Majella’ in Naples.

Exploring the esoteric, mystical and ultimately death, rebirth and destiny, the loop- and arpeggio-driven synth backdrop of 'Wasting My Time' feeds a retro new-wave vibe, and the catchy chorus underlines multiple conflicting sensations from dark melancholy to fiery self-expression.

"'Wasting My Time' is about self-confidence, self-empowerment, hope, change and transformation. Whenever there is a traumatic experience, I take the pain and put it into art, creating a song. The lyrics are autobiographical, and reference the difficulties I have gone through in the last 14 years, which I've finally overcome," says Stella Wembley.

"Betrayal, judgment and abandonment have been a constant in my life, and extremely painful, especially because it came from the people closest to me - family, friends - and having to manage this as well as my music career and record label wasn’t easy. This is how this song was born but, above all, it represents a new chapter in my life. Today, I feel powerful, and stronger than ever. I left the past in the past and cut all toxic relationships from my life. I love myself and I am finally free."

Directed and produced by Stella Wembley, the video – set in Medieval 13th century England – was filmed at Kirkstall Abbey and Adel Woods in Leeds by Riccardo Cavani for London Filmmakers. Stella cast 12 females, working with a small team she hired and directed herself, in addition to writing the script and creating the storyboard for the video.

Two of the remixes - 'Bionic Visions Electro Remix' and 'Bionic Visions Dark Ambient Remix' - were created by Enrico Knob aka Bionic Visions, an Italian music producer, arranger and re-mixer.

Stella Wembley comments, "These remixes are sublime, I really don't know which one I prefer between the two. I'm very happy to have met Enrico Knob, who is a fantastic producer and has understood straight away my music and vision. The electro version has fantastic drum samples, which Enrico programmed, and amazing sounds. I love the analog synths. I think this electronic version is perhaps more modern than my "retro" version. The melody stands out a lot, and although the drums are very present the song still remains nostalgic."

Upon moving to London in 2017, Wembley found inspiration and new avenues as a musician, performing at venues in Leeds, Blackpool and London. Stella Wembey is also now the CEO of her own independent label Gothic Empire Records. Armed with MicroKorg synthesizer, she began writing and producing music in 2018, releasing her debut EP ‘All That I Need’ and dark video in 2019, followed by the ‘Images of Death' EP (2020) and ‘Loving The Alien’ EP (2022) and cabaret-style video.

Channeling her lifelong love of dark poetry, horror stories, macabre literature and cinema into music, Wembley leads the listener into a haunted realm, laying bare her soul in a psycho-drama of tragedy and melancholic sensuality. Powerful, yet with a hint of vulnerability, she is like a beautiful siren calling us to join her in her dark universe.

Stella Wembley has collaborated or performed with Lloyd Price (The Frixion), Auger, Inkubus Sukkubus, Zeitgeist Zero, Last July, Rome Burns and Machine Rox. Indie pop-rock duo Karamelien presents 'Do You Really Want To Go', a groovy anthem for high-heel haters and canapé avoiders everywhere, along with a cheeky video produced by award-winning filmmaker Eveshka Ghost. Filmed near to Léanie’s house in East Grinstead, West Sussex, this clip highlighting the duo’s great friendship, with neither of them taking themselves very seriously.

This is the final single from their debut album, 'Living With The Moon', a grounding 9-track offering that breaks from the typical songwriter mould. Its sonic offerings draw inspiration from fuzzy Lo-fi, storytelling, trip hop, and reverb-drenched 1960s film soundtracks, with a greater emphasis on beats and basslines.

Karamelien is singer-songwriter Léanie Kaleido and guitarist Mark Foster - two long-time friends, whose music has forged an even stronger bond between them. This Karamelien album follows the three albums that Léanie Kaleido released as a solo artist.

‘Although I’ve always been a fairly sociable person, I’ve never enjoyed the formality of parties, particularly ones where you’re expected to dress in a certain way. I hate high heels and sparkly dresses. Eurgh. And I always enjoy the chance to write a tongue-in cheek ditty, where I can let myself get a bit narky about silly things. I’d woken up with the chorus line in my head and it grew from there," says Léanie Kaleido.

"I initially recorded the track at my home studio, then we worked further on it with Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound. I played Gardener’s gorgeous Rhodes for the main keyboard track, which was a treat. However, the song needed more work to get it finished so, later, at Ian Caple’s studio, Lee Pomeroy came in to add some live bass and he gave it a bit of a ‘Blockheads vibe’ in the chorus. I’ve always loved Norman Watt-Roy from the Blockheads – I’ve seen them live 3 or 4 times and that man is a veritable sweaty bass genius – so Lee’s basslines, as always, made me very happy indeed."

Mark Foster adds, "‘Do You Really Wanna Go is what might have occurred if Beck had visited East London’s Drum and Bass Clubs in the mid-90s while writing 'Odeley' – warm, washed out jazzy vibes, with a kick of DIY breakbeat to keep things just the right side of Shoreditch."

While Lee Pomeroy (ELO, Take That, Rick Wakeman, Yes), one of the UK's leading bass players, joined the duo on most of the album's tracks, the song 'Ascension Heights' features bassist Morris 'Mo' Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Ray Charles), gracing the track with his funkadelic bassline.

Karamelien recently presented 'Digital Imogen', a feisty in tongue-in-cheek warning of the dangers of obsessing over own photos on social media, which was recorded and produced by Ian Caple (Massive Attack, Tricky, Mansun, Tindersticks, Vanessa Paradis), who was also EMI's in-house engineer back in the day.

The duo earlier released the title track 'Living With The Moon' and 'Wait For Me'with piano, mixing and production by Chris Mars (A Flock of Seagulls, Damian Wilson). Two other tracks were produced by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio - 'Lionhearts' and 'Ascension Heights', which features a guitar sample from Léanie's late father Top Topham (original founding guitarist of The Yardbirds) and also involved Paul Statham (Dido, Simple Minds, Kylie Minogue).

The 'Living With The Moon' album is out now and available from fine digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

New York indiepop artist ROSE ALAIMO releases 'A Place To Go When You Need To Hide' album

Ithaca, NY-based indiepop artist Rose Alaimo has released 'A Place To Go When You Need To Hide', her third full-length album. Honest, hopeful and emotive, this record follows Alaimo's internal struggles as she finds her way through darkness to exercise her own will-power, freedom of choice and self-empowerment. It is no coincidence that this album entails an element of contrast between light and darkness.

Alaimo also presents the video for the album's first single 'Stars', which is about finding an unexpected moment of stillness in the midst of a crazy world.

"'A Place to Go When You Need to Hide' is a concept album, a story, about the high highs and low lows of life and how they can be a lot to navigate without losing ourselves in the waves. About how we all have a place inside of ourselves, where we can go when the world gets to be too much - where we can stop for a moment of stillness and, from here, actively *choose* how we want to move through whatever circumstances life presents us with. It is loosely based on the quote "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. And in that space lies our freedom and power to choose our responses. In our response lies our growth and our freedom" by Viktor Frankl," says Rose Alaimo.

"These songs were written during the worst parts of Covid, amid massive political unrest and racial tension in the US, an uptick in school shootings, the onset of Russia's war on Ukraine, and more generalized anger and tension between people than I have ever seen. These events also coincided with difficulties in my personal life, including a massive period of burnout surrounding my career and being diagnosed with long-term post-infectious Lyme disease. Lyrically and musically, the album chronicles parts of my own path as I navigated through this period of darkness."

A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Rose Alaimo writes, sings, performs, programs, records and co-produces her own music. Additional production and mastering was provided by Jamie Hill (Nada Surf, Zola Jesus, House of Pain), at Department of Energy Management in Tacoma, WA.

Having been involved in numerous music projects to date, she assimilates a diverse range of genres (from rock, metal and blues to folk and a cappella) into her own music. She also has a special obsession with creating vocal harmonies and is a veterinarian and vegetable farmer.

The emotional range of this album mirrors the intense highs and lows of life, from soft and dreamy lullabies, where we remember those we have loved who are no longer with us ('Stars'), to anthemic, thrashy songs protesting Russia's war on Ukraine and some of the unethical and dangerous world leaders we have seen at work over the last few years ('Resist The Force') . But there are also bright, upbeat pop-rock songs with shimmering vocal harmonies, calling us to remember and honor the interconnectedness that exists between all of us ('Power Lines').

Several pieces, inspired by dark blues and psychedelia, explore the difficulty of letting go of old, familiar, toxic patterns for something new and healthier due to the fear of making changes in a world that feels increasingly unstable ('The Devil That You Know'). The album wraps up with 'Here I Am', a grounding and hopeful reprise medley reminding us of the stillness and peace that we can find, even in times of trouble, and the importance of cultivating that peace - not only for ourselves, but for everyone around us.

Rose Alaimo debuted with her acoustic-based album 'The Importance of Centers' in 2019, followed by the gritty and anthemic 'Grow' in 2021. Rose's lyrics trend toward the dreamy and existential with a voice that has been most commonly referred to as "honest." As a session musician, she has also collaborated on other projects with artists from Paris, Australia, LA, Alaska, and South Africa.

Robben Ford's New Album "Night In The City" Is Out Now!

Robben Ford is, without doubt, an exquisite blues guitarist, with a resume of collaborations reading like a veritable "Who's Who" of musical greats. Jordyn Shellhart Releases Cozy Christmas EP: 'Cross-Legged By The Fireplace'

Warner Music Nashville singer / songwriter Jordyn Shellhart is inviting fans to get cozy with her this holiday season with the release of her new Christmas EP, Cross-Legged By The Fireplace, available today. Produced by Cameron Jaymes, the holiday collection features a blend of timeless classics including Shellhart’s soulful take on Joni Mitchell’s “River,” a sweet and somber rendition of Ariana Grande’s contemporary holiday hit “Santa Tell Me,” and a duet with Austin Snell for an updated take on the Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani hit “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Rounding out the festive four-song EP is an acoustic version of Shellhart’s own melancholic holiday original “Coming To Town (Fireplace Version).”

Born in Wyoming and ultimately ending up in Nashville at the age of 10, Shellhart was thrown into the scene with a publishing deal at 14, followed by a record deal, Grand Ole Opry debut at 15 and on a country-wide tour by 16. In an anti-climactic, heartbreaking plot twist, she lost her voice in the midst of it all.

Through a good number of twists, turns and worldview shakeups, she found herself singing again and racking up credits as a songwriter, including Little Big Town’s Grammy-nominated “Sugar Coat” and songs recorded by Kelsea Ballerini, Cody Johnson, Don Williams and more.
