TEMPERANCE Release "Death: Right Before We Die" + Video!

Italian symphonic power metallers TEMPERANCE delve deeper into their personal deck of Tarot with the release of "Death: Right Before We Die." The second single from their upcoming album Arcani, coming October 16 via Napalm Records, deals with an experience the band members shared while on tour. While having dinner in Tallinn, Estonia, during Sabaton Cruise 2024, the restaurant they stayed at caught on fire. That same day, guitarist Marco Pastorino wrote the main melody for the emotive mid-tempo song that now also features intense vocals.

Kristin Starkey about "Death: Right Before We Die":
"This song explores the existential threat to our mortality through the tarot card, Death. It is human nature to try to avoid this eventuality, but the ferryman always finds us. This song is about facing the inevitable 'end' not with despair, but by anchoring ourselves in the profound beauty of human connection and the love we share in the present moment. Ultimately, it's a personal anthem about survival and presence. It's a reminder to surrender to the journey, seize every single day, and remember that we have the power to define our own fate."

Italian symphonic power metallers TEMPERANCE reshuffle the pack with their eighth album, Arcani, coming October 16, 2026 via Napalm Records. Structured around the divinatory practice of Tarot, each of the new songs follows a different card of the Major Arcana deck. Pouring their passion into 13 spellbinding songs with even catchier symphonic melodies than before, TEMPERANCE's bright future takes shape on Arcani.

Though not a direct concept album, TEMPERANCE position themselves as masters of narrative with their Tarot-themed album, Arcani. Their symphonic grandeur rising to new heights on their memorable seventh album, the Italian five-piece knows how to make their trademark alternating vocalists stand out. With the most personal lyrics of their career, the lines recorded in group sessions binding the band together even more, TEMPERANCE present a strong melodic piece of work, filled with power, passion, and perspective.

Marco Pastorino about Arcani:
"We are finally here to announce our new album Arcani! 13 incredible new songs that we have worked tirelessly on over the past year, and we are confident they will become an essential part of our live show. Epic symphonic arrangements, harmonies woven through our three distinctive voices, huge metal guitar solos, and a fantastic production! After our adventures around the globe supporting the magical world of Hermitage, we have returned with something magical once again. Welcome to the world of Arcani."

NYHC Crossover Pioneers CRO-MAGS Pay Tribute to their Debut Album with 'The Age of Quarrel: 40 Years of Quarrel' Out on November 13th via BLKIIBLK

Today, CRO-MAGS, the iconic New York hardcore outfit fronted by Harley Flanagan, proudly announces their new album, 'The Age of Quarrel: 40 Years of Quarrel,' a tribute to their 1986 seminal debut. Following the release of the original single "Wired for Chaos," the band now shares the 2026 version of "World Peace," alongside an official music video, available below.

On the decision to honor 'The Age of Quarrel,' Harley shares:

"It all started with the making of the 'Wired for Chaos' movie, but there were several reasons for revisiting 'The Age of Quarrel.' None of the people who played on the original record ever got paid, and none of us ever received an accounting of the album's sales. For years, I tried to reunite the original lineup to re-record it and reclaim the rights to 'The Age of Quarrel' and 'Best Wishes' through the Copyright Reversion Act. But I couldn't get everyone together to take back ownership of the music, and that window has now closed."

He continues, "We had to re-record a few songs for the 'Harley Flanagan: Wired for Chaos' documentary soundtrack because the original recordings couldn't be licensed. That inspired me to finish the entire album. To honor 'The Age of Quarrel,' I brought together friends, current bandmates, and musicians from other bands to celebrate these songs that have meant so much to so many people, myself included. Forty years later, everyone who wrote these songs will finally be paid through ASCAP and BMI, and the remaining proceeds will go to charity. I'm doing my best to make things right. These songs belong to the fans. I'm washing my hands of the past and trying to clear the bad karma from this record. Love wins. My quarrel is over."

Check Out the Music Video for "World Peace (2026)"

Forty years ago, New York City's CRO-MAGS defined the metal-punk crossover with their landmark 1986 album, ‘The Age of Quarrel.’ The intensity, influence, and groove of that record continue to resonate today, fueled by the band's enduring legacy and hard-earned reputation as one of heavy music's most volatile and influential acts. Now led by founding bassist and vocalist Harley Flanagan, who assumed frontman duties beginning with 1989's ‘Best Wishes,’ CRO-MAGS bring ‘The Age of Quarrel’ full circle with a celebration of the album that started it all.

Joining Flanagan are original ‘AOQ’ guitarist Doug Holland, former CRO-MAGS/ Suicidal Tendencies guitarist Rocky George, and members of modern-day acolytes Turnstile and Rise Against for fresh takes on classics including "Hard Times," "World Peace," and "Malfunction," along with the addition of the 1985 demo-era favorite "Everybody's Gonna Die." Drums on all tracks were handled by drum phenom Greyson Nekrutman. Produced and mixed by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Blood Incantation), ‘40 Years of Quarrel’ not merely revisits a pivotal crossover classic, but pours new fuel on the fire for old devotees and new converts to the CRO-MAGS cause.

Iodine Recordings to Release Gameface "All My Friends" EP on 9/25

For more than 35 years, Southern California melodic punk veterans GAMEFACE have built a legacy on heartfelt songwriting, emotional honesty, and an unwavering connection with their devoted fanbase. From influential releases on Revelation Records, Doghouse Records, and Equal Vision to a celebrated return in the 2010s, the band has remained a constant voice of authenticity, proving that sincerity never goes out of style.

Now, Gameface begin a new chapter with Iodine Recordings, returning with their first new recordings in over a decade. The two-song 7", featuring "All My Friends" and "Men of Stone," finds the band sounding as vital and emotionally resonant as ever. Rooted in the melodic post-hardcore sound they've spent decades refining, both songs reflect on friendship, aging, loss, and the quiet struggles that often go unspoken.

Pre-order here and listen to the title track below.

The cover art was designed by iconic cartoon artist Brian Walsby (7 Seconds, The Melvins, Corrosion of Conformity).

"'As we age, our circle of friends tends to shrink. It's easy to grow complacent and withdrawn. We lose people. Social media magnifies our anxieties, and the pull of political division only deepens the distance between us. It's easy to feel small, isolated," explains vocalist Jeff Caudill. "'We wrote 'All My Friends' and 'Men of Stone' for those who've drifted down rabbit holes, those facing declining health, and those who can't quite bring themselves to talk about any of it. These songs lived as ideas for years, but only recently did we feel compelled to record them. It was a way to lean on our friendship and help get us through these dark times. We feel strongly about these songs, and we're grateful they exist."

Rather than chasing nostalgia, Gameface continue to write music with the same vulnerability and conviction that has defined the band since 1990. "All My Friends" and "Men of Stone” are not simply a return — they're a reminder of why Gameface remain one of melodic punk's most enduring and beloved voices.

MAD MAX Share Lyric Video for New Single "Keep You Alive"

Following the previously-released first single "Silver" (listen here), German melodic hard rock veterans MAD MAX have shared a lyric video for "Keep You Alive," offering another preview of their forthcoming studio album, Stories Of Destiny. Due out on September 4 via ROAR – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music, the album finds the band celebrating 45 years of history while continuing to push forward with new material.

Co-written with HELLOWEEN guitarist Sascha Gerstner, "Keep You Alive" serves as the album's second single and showcases the collaboration through MAD MAX's signature blend of powerful riffs, memorable hooks, and timeless, larger-than-life melodic hard rock.

The video clip is now available below:

Packed with powerful guitar-driven anthems, memorable melodies and timeless hard rock spirit, Stories Of Destiny combines newly recorded material, long-awaited hidden gems and collaborations with some of the most respected names in the rock and metal world. The album also introduces UK vocalist Alan Clark while welcoming original MAD MAX singer Andreas Baesler as a special guest for his first MAD MAX appearance in 45 years, creating a direct link between the band's earliest days and its present.

Founded in Münster, Germany in 1981 by guitarist, songwriter and bandleader Jürgen Breforth, MAD MAX have remained one of Europe's most enduring melodic hard rock and heavy metal acts for more than four decades. Renowned for their unmistakable guitar-driven sound, strong melodies and classic hard rock attitude, the band have built a loyal international following through countless albums, tours and festival appearances.

Reflecting on an extraordinary career while embracing the future, Stories Of Destiny is built around songs Breforth had the honor to co-write with acclaimed musicians including Sascha Gerstner (Helloween), David Readman (Pink Cream 69), Andreas Broon (The Sisters Of Mercy) and Michael Voss, known from his work with Michael Schenker. Reimagined and newly recorded in unmistakable MAD MAX fashion, the album captures both the band's musical roots and their continued evolution.

Further highlights include two previously unreleased MAD MAX songs from 1991, "Til' The End Of Time" and "Weapons Of Love", alongside a newly recorded version of "Piece Of Candy", based on the very first guitar riff Breforth ever wrote for the band in 1981. Performed as a duet between Alan Clark and Andreas Baesler, the track symbolizes the connection between MAD MAX's past and present. The Spanish version, "Dulces Falsos", marks the band's first-ever song with Spanish lyrics and pays tribute to their growing fanbase across Latin America.

The visual world of Stories Of Destiny also connects to the MAD MAX comic, created by Mexican comic artist Maestro Arturo Said. The comic tells the story of the band from its founding days in 1981 through the 1980s and up to MAD MAX’s first shows in Colombia in 2023, making the album both a musical and visual celebration of the band’s legacy.

Holissstik Realize Haunting Vision on "Reoccurring Dreams"

No matter how his genius takes shape, Tor-Helge Skei remains one of the most consistent and surprising artists in extreme music. As a founding member of the critically acclaimed Manes and Lethe, the Norwegian multi-instrumentalist and producer has pushed the boundaries of metal and electronic music. Now, he’s expanding his vision like never before with Holissstik, a new collective experiment that features fellow members of Manes and Lethe, underground legends and rising stars from the avant-garde.

Today, Holissstik are releasing the third and final advanced single from Chapter 1: This Endless Solitude. Though haunted by the current state of the world, “Reoccurring Dreams” possesses the collective spirit that makes Skei and his collaborators such a unified force.

“Collaboration is the heart and soul of Holissstik”, Skei says. “I’ve had the idea for ‘Reoccurring Dreams’ for quite some time. But, as is often the case, the song evolved, unplanned and uncontrolled, as Nik, Kristoffer, Eivind, Tor Arne and I worked on it together. While quite floaty, it twists off in unexpected directions. There’s even an Easter egg for fans of Manes and Diabolus, Mecum Semperterne! to find!”.

Listen to “Reoccurring Dreams” below:

Chapter 1: This Endless Solitude comes out August 14, 2026 on Season of Mist.

As one could reasonably expect, This Endless Solitude began in 2024 with Tor-Helge Skei alone at his studio in Norway, revisiting unfinished songs from previous projects. The album’s latest single opens as if falling deep into a trance, blanketed beneath one long, dark cloud of synth. Over the following years, Skei salvaged bits and pieces of old recordings while building new components from scratch using his curious collection of  recording software and homemade plug-ins. Jolted awake, “Reoccurring Dreams” tosses and turns between trip-hop, black metal, electronic and industrial.

Skei’s approach to production is still hands-on, but he’s invited outside influences to take control over Holissstik. “After I finished the initial sketches for the songs on This Endless Solitude, I wanted to hear where other people would take with them without being given any rules, limitations or restrictions”, he says. On “Reoccurring Dreams”, familiar faces appear in  current and former Manes members Eivind Fjøseide and Tor-Arne Helgesen. But the single also introduces two new collaborators. With just the lift of a finger, Norwegian experimental musician Kristoffer Oustad conjures a melody that will ring in your head for days on end. And though it may be hard to believe, the distorted voice speaking as if from another world is none other than Kamra vocalist Nik Košar.

“I see trees, but they look like men, standing”, recalls Košar, twisting a verse from the Bible on its head.  “I do not see myself, but I look, searching”. It’s not an admission of defeat, but a call to become something greater than ourselves.

“From the start, Holissstik felt like a serene light tap from somewhere beyond”, Košar says. “While I typically come from black metal, I love experimenting with different vocal styles. "‘Reoccurring Dreams’ strayed from the usual. The focus moved away from the vocals and their color into the rhythm, the words and the flow. The lyrics are inspired by a quote from the Bible, which I inverted. They don’t carry any religious meaning but reflect the current state of a blind society that struggles within the self-inflicted solitude born out of our removal from nature”.

“The whole creative process and its conclusion felt seamless and genius”,  Košar continues. “Working with Holissstik felt like a puzzle where all the pieces are already laid before you and you know exactly where you fit. It was a surreal experience that I am thankful to be a part of”.

“Holissstik is like an audio ecosystem, where the collective is the creative force, the gardener and the nutrient”, Oustad says. “This is where you are the flower and the bee at the same time, both knowing and unaware of your impact and importance in the holistic process. I am proud and deeply honored to have been asked to be a part of it”.

“With Hollissstik, we’ve built something that transcends traditional metal by focusing on the ‘holos’ - the beauty of the complete, interconnected whole”, says Helgesen, who contributes drums to “Reoccurring Dreams”.

Fjøseide, who contributes guitar to the song, agrees. “Skei and I have worked together on music for more than 30 years. Together, we have a special chemical musical reaction that makes things very exciting”.

Although the very nature of Holissstik demands that we expect the unexpected, the collective’s future certainly seems to guarantee obsidian horizons and torrential deluges of artistic truth. In other words, the project promises to persistently and ritualistically pummel us with devastating yet necessary, epic masterworks. Skei and his collaborators truly present the most immersive experiences possible and, in Manes language, offer a safe place in the unsafe; dive in with your hands bound, and be submerged within the imprisoning brilliance. Skei continues to participate in a range of outstanding groups, and yet Holissstik stands as the most unpredictable and, counterintuitive as it might sound, accessible undertaking in the history of his illustrious career.

Aussie Deathcore Titans TO THE GRAVE Launch New Single + Official Video

Today, TO THE GRAVE, the world's preeminent vegan deathcore band, are proud to launch their new track, "TORTURE PORN," the third single taken from their upcoming BLKIIBLK debut album, 'LIBERATION FRONT,' set for release on October 2nd. The new single arrives alongside an official lyric video.

On the new single, vocalist Dane Evans shares:

"'TORTURE PORN' might be the biggest fight riff song we have. Lyrically, I wanted to state as bluntly as possible that we don’t care if you hate us, what we stand for or how we choose to stand for it; TTG hates you too. Enjoy the song. Everyone’s still a murderer."

Watch the Official Lyric Video for "TORTURE PORN" Below:

Since forming in 2010, TO THE GRAVE have become one of Australia's most uncompromising heavy exports, earning acclaim for crushing releases including 'Global Warning,' 'Epilogue,' 'Director's Cuts,' and 2024's 'Everyone's a Murderer.' Armed with a singular mission to confront animal cruelty and environmental destruction through some of modern metal's most punishing deathcore, the Sydney outfit have forged a reputation for pairing unrelenting heaviness with fearless activism. Their live assault has taken them around the globe alongside Lorna Shore, Thy Art Is Murder, Shadow of Intent, Carnifex, Oceano, and more, with Revolver hailing them as "one of the country's heaviest exports" and Distorted Sound calling them "one of the most intense, enthralling bands the genre can offer."

Now, the band returns with 'LIBERATION FRONT,' their fifth album and BLKIIBLK debut, a statement of pure intent. Brutal and uncompromising in both sound and message, TO THE GRAVE transform their death metal-infused assault into a vehicle for activism, raging against animal cruelty and environmental destruction while delivering their most direct and fully realized work to date. From the breakdown-laden opener "MEAT THE HUMANS," 'Liberation Front'marks a ferocious return to the band's deathcore roots. While recent releases leaned further into hardcore, the new album embraces deathcore at its most savage and relentless.

Evans comments about the album:

"'LIBERATION FRONT' was born as a concept on tour last year in Australia after we decided we wanted to make the sequel to 'Director’s Cuts.' What came out was something between that and a more pissed off brother to 'Everyone’s A Murderer.' It’s got so many things I love about the band and a bit of everything pushed to 100 with a really bleak kind of aggression that’s just reaching for your throat the entire time. Very keen to play some of these songs live and it’s an exciting chapter to add.”

TO THE GRAVE will be kicking off "The Sawed Off Suffering Tour" with co-headliner Crown Magnetar on September 17th in Chicago. The entire run will be supported by Face Yourselfand on select dates by the likes of I Declare War, Tracheotomy, Backbiter, Squelching and Ameonna (the new band featuring former Chelsea Grin members Alex Koehler, Jake Harmond and Pablo Viveros, making their live debut). For a full list of dates, please see below.

Bassist Matt Clarke exclaims:

“These are the heaviest lineups we’ve ever put together, and we can’t wait for these shows across North America and at home in Aus. For North America, all these bands have a different approach, but the one thing that brings it all together is intensity! We’re stoked to be teaming up with Crown Magnetar for this run, and having Face Yourself on the package just makes it more crushing. We’re very excited that we get to play with OG Chelsea Grin members back on-stage for the first time in Ameonna, and I Declare War hopping on for some shows is awesome! Backbiter, Tracheotomy, and Squelching will all bring their own brands of brutality to the tour. No matter what show you’re hitting, you’re in for a treat.”

German Symphonic Metal Icons XANDRIA Present Album's Title Track "Eclipse"

Just a few days ahead of the release of their new album, Eclipse, dropping this Friday, German symphonic metal icons XANDRIA unveil the record's title track and final single alongside an official music video. "Eclipse" showcases the exceptional versatility of vocalist Ambre Vourvahis, highlighting the full range of her remarkable voice: From soft, emotional passages and powerful rock vocals to intense growls and soaring operatic sections. Bringing all of these vocal styles together in a single metal song, performed by one singer, is a truly rare achievement.

Driven by heavy guitars and dramatic orchestral arrangements, the German band, with a career spanning more than 30 years and numerous high-charting releases, continues to raise the bar. They demonstrated exactly that last weekend with their appearance on Germany's ZDF-Fernsehgarten, one of the country's most popular television shows.

Fans can experience XANDRIA's captivating live performance this Saturday on the main stage at Germany's M'era Luna Festival, where the band will celebrate the release of Eclipse. They will then embark on an extensive European tour, kicking off this September.

Watch the official music video for "Eclipse" Below.

With their latest album (2023) being XANDRIA's most successful release to date, entering the Official German Album Charts at #9, the upcoming Eclipse, releasing this Friday, August 7 via Napalm Records, is taking the band on their most diverse path yet. It features eleven tracks that represent the most diverse body of work in the band's discography so far: every song has its own identity—a journey full of discoveries—yet they all belong to the same world. Classic, '80s-inspired metal riffs stand alongside low-tuned modern metal guitars, cinematic orchestral sounds meet Celtic folk influences, and dark electronic elements blend with intimate rock moments, even including a guitar solo that owes more to Pink Floyd than to any metal genre.

Eclipse marks XANDRIA's most outspoken and cinematic album so far: A dark, colourful, and defiant statement for reason, empathy, and democracy in times when all three are under attack, brought to life by a band fueled with new energy, new ambitions, and a clear artistic direction, aiming higher than ever and not looking back!

Toxic. Addictive. hot mess Announce Debut EP + Are Back With Two New Singles!

Milwaukee pop rock upstarts, hot mess, are back with a double dose of new music, releasing two new singles - "Toxic Cloud" and "New Addiction" today alongside the announcement of their debut EP, "Make Myself Your Favorite Scene", set for release on October 15th. Following the momentum of their neon-lit, pulse racing single "Take Me Home", hot mess continue to sharpen their blend of nostalgic grit and modern pop-rock sheen. Fans can listen to "Toxic Cloud" and "New Addiction" HERE.

Pulling in complementary directions, "Toxic Cloud" takes aim at a scene obsessed with everything except the music itself, while "New Addiction" trades that slow-burn tension for a rush of drums and pop punk urgency, widening the emotional range that hot mess has hinted at so far. Together, the two singles offer an early glimpse of the range and chemistry that run throughout the band's debut EP, "Make Myself Your Favorite Scene". Built across 6 tracks, their forthcoming EP, is a document of late nights, bad decisions, and the moments that feel too good to be smart, all filtered through hot mess' signature blend of retro-futuristic synths and pop-punk backbone.

On what "Toxic Cloud" and "New Addiction" represent for the band, frontman Reid Stevenson shares:

"Toxic Cloud and New Addiction being released together reflects what we want to be as a rock band. We want the freedom to push into heavier territory with a track like Toxic Cloud, being more guitar driven and having a breakdown. While also being able to write on the other side of the pop-leaning spectrum with New Addiction, but still rubbing some hot mess dirt on it to make it our own."

Reflecting on reaching the milestone of announcing their debut EP, "Make Myself Your Favorite Scene", bassist Trevor Gallagher states:

"We here at hot mess are beyond excited to announce our very first EP: Make Myself Your Favorite Scene! This project has not only been a year in the making, but its truly a statement into what we’re all about. Heavy hitting, catchy, and a punch in the face that makes you say ONE MO TIME SUCKA."

Only eight songs into their career, hot mess are still in the earliest chapters of their story, yet the trajectory is unmistakable. Colliding a danceable pop rock with a streak of pop punk grit, the band deliver songs that feel instantly familiar and endlessly replayable. Hook heavy and high energy, hot mess are just rough enough around the edges to hint that something bigger is beginning to take shape.

Stay tuned for more news from hot mess soon.

hot mess channels themes of ambition, relationships, jealousy, and self reflection. Pulling from their pop-punk roots they push their sound into a contemporary, darker pop-rock territory.

Now, as the band approaches its thirteenth studio album, a deeper and more arcane force begins to stir. The number thirteen bears ancient meaning: endings, thresholds, and the passage into the unknown. Rooted in primordial doctrine, the thirteenth seal is said to bind the final veil between worlds, the last barrier between order and chaos.

With this upcoming release, BELPHEGOR prepares to break that seal, not to follow, but to lead. To summon what lies beyond even their own previous creations: something more primal, more ritualistic, more devastating.

Early glimpses of new material point to a continuation of the dark artistic path begun with The Devils, now delving even deeper. The upcoming album takes shape as a focused ritual: precise, uncompromising, and rooted in the band’s unmistakable vision, the glorification of the Devil.

Prepare. The next chapter is imminent.

Stoned Jesus Announce New Album Songs to Moon

After 15 years of trailblazing across doom metal, grunge, psychedelic and art rock, no height is too steep a climb for Stoned Jesus. The heavy progressive rockers are reaching a new creative peak with their forthcoming album trilogy. Its opening chapter, Songs to Sun, rose atop best of 2025 lists at Doom Charts, Rock Hard, The Obeliskand other critical institutions. Now, frontman Igor Sydorenko and his two bandmates are cycling into the darkest, most daring and deeply moving territory of their career with Songs to Moon.

“We started The Songs trilogy last year with Songs to Sun, which is a loud and heavy album that’s big on choruses and meaty riffs” Sydorenko says. “While still heavy and catchy, Songs to Moon follows a similar trajectory to Led Zeppelin III, Opeth’s Damnation or Jar of Flies by Alice In Chains. The songs are recognizably Stoned Jesus, but they are bolder, more haunting and introspective than anything we’ve done before”.

Today, Stoned Jesus are announcing Songs to Moon with a ‘90s-style music video for the album’s lead single. While floating endlessly amidst uncertainty, the doomgaze of “Velvet” hits hard with one of the band’s biggest hooks.

“This song answers the question: What if Nirvana was shoegaze?”, Sydorenko teases.

Watch the music video for “Velvet” below:

Songs to Moon comes out October 16, 2026 on Season of Mist.

The Songs trilogy spans all phases of Stoned Jesus. Like dusk, Songs to Moon opens in the shadow of Songs to Sun. Previously released single “Under the Skin” plunged the band into a dark night of the soul with loud and heavy slabs of post-metal.

Songs to Moon discovers a more introspective side to Stoned Jesus, “I’ve noticed that in a lot of our songs, the narrator is either falling or starting to lose the ground under their feet”, Sydorenko says. “When writing ‘Velvet’, I asked myself, what’s next? What do I want to find once I reach the bottom? Or do I just want the fall to go on forever”.

Even on their most melancholic album, Stoned Jesus can’t be confined to just one shade of blue. With its grungy riffs and grainy video treatment, “Velvet” would slide into heavy rotation on MTV’s 120 Minutes. “Where will I end up / I never know”, Sydorenko sings with cool remove. As steadily pounding drums, harsh backing vocals from bassist Andrew Rodin and Sydorenko’s howling guitar solo push the song to the brink, it’s loud and clear that the band are only going up from here.

The video for “Velvet” was created by Mykyta Donets.

Catch Stoned Jesus this summer on the European festival circuit.

Following in the steps of Led Zeppelin III, Opeth’s Damnation or Alice In Chain’s Jar of Flies, during its final lap, Songs to Moon strips down to acoustic guitar and Sydorenko’s hushed vocals. “And when the sun goes down / It brightens up my mood”. As the dreamy desperation of “Window In My Room” fades beneath the stark reminder of closer “One More Empty Day”, Stoned Jesus return to earth weary but wise beyond their years and ready to explore the next frontier.

STEVE HACKETT & STEVE ROTHERY launch video for ‘Red Dragon’; second track from collaborative album ‘The Roaring Waves’

Two titans of progressive music, Steve Hackett (Genesis) and Steve Rothery (Marillion), come together on ‘The Roaring Waves’ - a striking and deeply atmospheric instrumental album shaped by memory, imagination, and the elemental power of the sea. The record has been much talked about over the years, and it will now finally see the day on August 28th, 2026 via InsideOutMusic.

Now the duo are pleased to present the video for new single ‘Red Dragon’. Created by Simon Ward, you can watch it below:

Steve Rothery comments: “Red Dragon shows off the rockier side of our collaboration, it starts with the sound of a hurdy gurdy (an instrument which originated in medieval Europe around the 10th century), followed by a heavy guitar riff by myself and great guitar melodies and sitar guitar by SH.”

Steve Hackett adds: “Red Dragon was the name of the ship that was used by the East India Trading Company in its early years. I used a sitar guitar amongst others to give that authentic Eastern feel…”

Years in the making, The Roaring Waves brings together seven instrumental compositions that move fluidly between the cinematic and the intimate, as Hackett explains, “It’s not the kind of album that guitarists normally make together.”

Written and recorded intermittently over nearly a decade - with sessions at Racket Club and the duo’s home studios - the album emerged from an organic, improvisational process. Jams and shared ideas form the backbone of the music, allowing both players to explore a collaborative dynamic defined by sensitivity and mutual respect.

Throughout ‘The Roaring Waves’, the duo embrace a painterly, almost filmic approach to composition - crafting music that invites listeners to drift, imagine, and immerse themselves. “You’re trying to create an atmosphere… like painting a picture,” says Rothery. “Taking people on a journey.”

The album is also available to pre-order on several formats, including a Ltd CD+Blu-ray mediabook edition including Dolby Atmos (by Andy Bradfield) & High Resolution Stereo mixes. The album will also be available as a Standard CD & a Gatefold 180g LP, cut at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell. All feature artwork and layouts by Simon Ward. IGNEA Release Video for "Darkness" Single

Ukrainian modern metal architects IGNEA further open the doors to their upcoming album Monumental, out on October 23 via Napalm Records, with the second single, "Darkness." The song sets the emotional foundation for the album, which is set around the concept of nostalgia. "Darkness" explores finding comfort in memories, even if they reveal cracks. Native to Kyiv, IGNEA have their own fair share of those, so the new song inevitably takes a bittersweet turn. Shifting between eerie, melancholic verses and grandiose, uplifting choruses before crescendoing into a live choir set against raw blast beats, the new song mirrors the emotional swing of nostalgia itself, the drift into shadow followed by sudden bursts of longing.

"Darkness" is paired with a music video shot in Ukraine's capital city. The walk through Kyiv captures an additional theme of the album — the walk past modernist buildings representing a future that never arrived. Part of the video was filmed at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture — symbolically vital for an album about urban nostalgia, as its halls carry the energy of generations of students who trained there to build the very structures the video mourns.

With the very same buildings that once only held innocent memories of the band's upbringing now being destroyed by the war, the imagery adds a second, bitter layer to the nostalgia. It's not just longing for the past, but grief for what is disappearing in real time. In a cruel coincidence, IGNEA shot the video for "Darkness" in the literal darkness of the largest missile and drone attacks on Kyiv that hit the night before shooting.

Helle Bohdanova about "Darkness":
"'Darkness' is about the rides we take into nostalgia when the present gets too heavy — and how bittersweet it is to realize you can never actually go back. As all IGNEA members are from Kyiv, we wanted to make a nostalgic ode to our city, walking through its memory — the same modernist buildings that once promised a future, the subway stations, the same streets that hold our childhoods, our first kisses, people we've lost. The war, in its turn, adds its own layer of darker nostalgia, watching those buildings burn in real time — and it heavily affected both days of filming. On the first day, one of the worst missile attacks on Kyiv hit the night before — we hadn't slept at all, running on nothing but adrenaline, and the city was still on fire as we drove to the location. On the second, we filmed through the city with sirens and drones overhead. Considering this, we're living in literal darkness, longing for the peaceful, trouble-free days... Can we ever get back?"

Watch the Official Music Video For "Darkness" Below:

Monumental is IGNEA's second full-length album that was written during the full-scale war in Ukraine. The recording process mostly took place in the winter of 2025-2026, during icy temperatures and long power outages in Kyiv.

Helle Bohdanova says about Monumental:
"Back in the 17th century, nostalgia was considered a deadly disease — and in many ways, it still is. It's a universal feeling experienced by every human being, pulling us toward a past that felt gentler than it truly was, especially during the bitter moments of the present. Much of this album was inspired by modernist architecture — concrete giants built to signal progress and a brighter future, now slowly decaying. They've become a sort of memory box: Monuments to unrealized dreams, where the future that was once imagined never arrived, yet continues to echo through the ruins and bright mosaics."

ONLY ECHOES Present New Single And Video For "Born Adrift" Ahead Of Upcoming Full-Length

Denver-based instrumental post-metal band ONLY ECHOES present the title track of their forthcoming full-length Born Adrift. The album is scheduled to arrive on August 14, 2026, via Braeburn Records.

"As a whole, this song really feels like you are lost at sea and fighting for your life, but that you haven't given up yet". Share ONLY ECHOES.

"That is kind of the idea behind the title and the theme of the album to an extent. It is a heavy emotion, but not a claustrophobic one. It's the idea that this fight is difficult and it's going to stay difficult for the rest of the journey, but that it is still worth taking".

ONLY ECHOES deliver "Born Adrift" with a striking impact. Wave after wave of intense heaviness brings the track's concept to life. Rhythmic shifts, catchy lead hooks, and uplifting moments not only provide movement but also a sense of anticipation. Shadowy passages feel weighted and inescapable but they are not dwelled upon without hope for too long.

Alternating between light and shade, ONLY ECHOES deploy carefully curated changes in the track's pace as well as through their instrumental layering. The structure of "Born Adrift", while exploring periods of turmoil and relief, is emotionally complex as the music rises and falls before meeting an abrupt end.

"Born Adrift" encapsulates key aspects of the band's sound that are also explored elsewhere across the album's track list. With this single release ONLY ECHOES demonstrate their darker side as this is the heaviest offering found on the forthcoming Born Adrift.

Born Adrift was produced, engineered, and mixed by guitarist Austin Minney at All Aces Studio, with mastering handled by Brad Smalling at Evergroove. The album artwork features an original 1876 engraving by Gustave Doré, reimagined with color and illustration work by Celeste Hayes (@chayesart). Born Adrift arrives August 14, 2026 via Braeburn Records.

In August 2026, ONLY ECHOES will release their sophomore full-length album Born Adrift through Braeburn Records. Expanding on the emotional and conceptual depth of their previous work, Born Adrift explores the search for meaning through monumental riffs, ethereal atmospheres, and dynamic songwriting that remains both devastatingly heavy and deeply melodic. The album artwork reimagines an 1876 Gustave Doré engraving from The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, colored and illustrated by Denver artist Celeste Hayes (@chayesart).

Though the band originally intended to include vocals, no one ever stepped forward to sing. Over time, ONLY ECHOES realized vocals were unnecessary entirely. Their music speaks through dynamics, melody, and sheer sonic force alone, summed up in the band’s defining ethos:

“No gods, no vocals.”

A relentless DIY band at heart, ONLY ECHOES have played more than 75 shows across the United States everywhere from bookstores and backyards to theaters and festivals. Their touring history includes multiple DIY west coast and midwest runs alongside performances with PALLBEARER, BIG|BRAVE, STRAWBERRY GIRLS, and THE ONGOING CONCEPT, including an appearance at the inaugural Ghost Canyon Fest.

Offstage, the band maintains a hands-on approach to nearly every aspect of their operation. Austin Minney screen prints much of the band’s merchandise by hand, often producing shirts just hours before heading out on tour.

With Born Adrift, ONLY ECHOES continue their mission to push instrumental post-metal forward, carrying the torch for a genre with few modern American bands operating at this intersection of atmosphere, melody, and crushing heaviness.

Austin Minney — Guitar
Dustin Yourishin — Guitar
Ben Rosenberg — Bass
Zach Sirotkin — Drums

Swedish Symphonic Metallers ELEINE Release New Single "Watch As We Rise" + Official Music Video

Swedish metal band ELEINE release their new single and accompanying music video,"Watch As We Rise," and unveil the artwork for their upcoming fifth studio album, 'The Water Taste Of Blood.' The album will be released independently on December 4th via the band's own label, Algoth Records, with global distribution through Sound Pollution.

Where the first single, "Empire of Lies," exposed deception and "We March" carried listeners through it, "Watch As We Rise" is the reckoning and the soundtrack to that empire's collapse. The third single from 'The Water Taste Of Blood' is the band's heaviest yet, built on chugging, in-your-face riffs and defiant vocals. It's a song about getting back up in the middle of the fight and burning the whole thing to the ground.

Watch the Music Video for "Watch As We Rise" Below:

In ELEINE’s own words:

“This is our song of reclaiming control of your own life. We’ve been through so much sh*t the past years. Buried under one pile after the other. ‘Watch As We Rise’ is a releasing song that fills you with power and determination through heavy chugging and in your face vocals.”

JOHN COFFEY Announces New Album "Not Alone" + Shares Video for "It's You"

Dutch punk and rock 'n' roll powerhouse John Coffey have announced their new studio album, Not Alone, out October 9 via Long Branch Records. Not Alone is about the power of connection. About discovering that there are other people who feel what you feel. Whether you find that connection through a partner, a friend, a helpline, or a room full of people feeling the same music. Talking helps. Singing helps. Screaming along helps.

Alongside the album announcement, John Coffey have also unveiled their powerful new single "It's You."

"Sometimes we meet someone who reminds us that we're not alone. Someone who sees us, understands us, and makes us feel that our experiences truly matter," comments the band. "'It's you' is not a love song to one person, but a celebration of human connection. It's dedicated to everyone who deserves to know they matter, and to those who make a difference in another person's life, often without even realizing it."

Miss May I Drop "Hand Me a Halo"

MISS MAY I  Levi Benton [vocals], Jerod Boyd [drums], Ryan Neff [bass], and Elisha Mullins [guitar ] — will drop their new album NO PLACE FOR ME on October 2 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it here.

The band also has issued the video for "HAND ME A HALO." Watch it below.

The song is gritty and guitar-forward, powered by phlegmatic and furious vocals that will make even the finest hairs on your neck stand on end and it's anchored by a memorable melody that just won't quit. The song is like the very halo referenced in the lyrics — and it's what fans want to be handed.

"'Hand Me A Halo' tells the self-narrative of losing one's sense of self and dealing with the intrusive thoughts that come with it," says Benton. "This song came from our own confusion and loss of identity through the changing seasons of life. The fear can be constant, leaving you to question if you just want someone to hand you a halo."

Instead of letting doubts, anxiety, negativity, and intrusive thoughts run wild, Miss May I will catch and turn even the most volatile feelings into airtight anthems. The Ohio-bred quartet ground extreme emotions in a taut framework of technically adroit riffing, hardcore grooves, and unforgettable melodies. The band has expertly honed an uncanny ability to make sense of life on tape. That's why fans worldwide have leaned on the group's music since their emergence in 2007. Following years of grinding, 2012's At Heart marked a breakthrough moment for the group when it bowed at #32 on the Billboard 200. Their impact only expanded with Deathless [2015] and Shadows Inside [2017], which both debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Independent Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart. In 2022, Curse Of Existence received widespread critical acclaim from the likes of Alternative Presswho raved: "Miss May I have penned one of their strongest records yet." V13 hailed it as "packed full of emotion and heartfelt rage," and Outburn marveled at "their fast, aggressive, thrashy metalcore mixed with powerful lyrics." Along the way, they generated hundreds of millions of streams and toured with everyone from Killswitch Engage and Parkway Drive to Motionless In White. In 2026, the collective continue to strike a deep chord with their eighth full-length offering and Solid State debut LP, No Place For Me.

DROWN IN SULPHUR are the latest addition to the German Metal Record Label and proudly present new music with a fresh band line-up. After they dropped a bomb with the first output "New Moon Rising On Florence" in June, the brand new single cements even clearer where the band is heading towards with their revamped sound. Be prepared since the upcoming digital EP Strix is blending the nostalgic fury of MySpace-era deathcore with grim black metal influences, marking a deliberate shift toward a less symphonic, more hardcore sound.

Watch the video for "Groan From The IXth Circle" and enjoy the single below:

With Strix, Drown In Sulphur delivers a desperate and focused body of work born out of a renewed hunger for reinvention. The upcoming EP leaves behind traditional symphonic tropes to deliver a sound driven by raw energy and complex, occult storytelling—blurring the lines between theological dread and sonic violence.

Formed in Milan, Italy in 2014, Drown In Sulphur quickly shook the underground metal scene, securing millions of streams and views with their explosive early singles "An Epilogue to the Arrogant" and "Blackwind." Through a relentless creative fire and an evolving lineup, the project dropped a string of powerful full-lengths, including Sulphur Cvlt (2021), Dark Secrets Of The Soul (2024), and the rebellious Vengeance (2025).

Now, reinforced by their current definitive lineup, the band enters their most authentic era yet.

Drown In Sulphur is:

Manuel Riboldi – Vocals

Erik Bellan – Rhythm Guitar

Ciprian Grigore – Lead & Rhythm Guitar

Domenico Francesco Tamilia – Drums & Backing Vocals

Strix will be available on Sept. 11 on all major streaming platforms. You can pre-save and pre-order the EP at this location: https://music.nobledemon.com/strix

THE ETERNAL Release Striking Music Video For New Single "Colours Fade" From Upcoming Studio Album 'Obscured Horizons'

Australian/Finnish progressive dark metal collective THE ETERNAL has unveiled a captivating new music video for their latest single, "Colours Fade," offering another compelling glimpse into their forthcoming studio album, Obscured Horizons, set for release on September 18 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM).

Blending haunting melodies with emotional depth and cinematic atmosphere, the track further showcases the band's signature ability to fuse epic heaviness with introspective songwriting. Exploring themes of memory, perception, identity, and the passage of time, "Colours Fade" captures the emotional tension between illusion and reality.

As vocalist Mark Kelson explains, "'Colours Fade' is about the shifting nature of perception, how memory, emotion, and time constantly reshape the way we see our lives. For me, it reflects that internal conflict between what we want to believe and what we know to be true. There’s a recurring sense that we construct these emotional ‘masks’ to protect ourselves, but over time they become part of the illusion that holds us back. The imagery of colours fading speaks to that loss of clarity or meaning, where everything starts to feel muted or indistinguishable, yet at the same time those colours don’t disappear completely, they rearrange, suggesting that nothing is ever truly lost, only transformed. ‘Colours Fade’ is about navigating cycles of emotion, of identity, of time and learning to exist within that flux without losing yourself entirely.”

Following the widespread acclaim of their 2024 full-length Skinwalker and the evocative companion EP Celestial, THE ETERNAL return with Obscured Horizons, an album that stands as both culmination and evolution.

Where Skinwalker was hailed for its emotional weight, cinematic scope and seamless fusion of melancholic atmosphere with crushing heaviness, and Celestial further expanded the band's sonic palette with its introspective depth and dynamic intensity, Obscured Horizons pushes even further into uncharted territory. The album refines THE ETERNAL's signature blend of doom-laden textures, progressive sophistication and haunting melodic resonance, while embracing a broader, more expansive sound that feels both intimate and monumental.

At its core, Obscured Horizons is an exploration of disillusionment, fractured identity and the struggle to reclaim clarity in a world saturated with distortion. The album moves through states of emotional collapse, liminal transition and existential unrest, confronting deception, both external and internal, before emerging into renewal and self-awareness. Rather than surrendering to decay, Obscured Horizons charts a defiant ascent, refusing numbness, rejecting illusion and ultimately reclaiming light from the shadows that threaten to eclipse it.

With Mark Kelson (vocals/guitars) and Richie Poate (guitars) in Melbourne, alongside Niclas Etelävuori (bass; ex-Amorphis/Flat Earth) and Jan Rechberger (drums; Amorphis) in Helsinki, THE ETERNAL remain a truly international collaboration, unified across continents yet bound by a singular artistic vision.
Their sound continues to resonate with listeners drawn to the emotional gravity of dark metal while carving a path distinctly their own. As they enter a new creative chapter with their gaze fixed firmly on the unseen, Obscured Horizons represents a bold statement from a band continuing to evolve while remaining true to its artistic identity.
