MALEFIC Strike With “Blood Of The Throne,” A Ruthless Opening Statement From Impermanence

Starting the album with a bang, “Blood Of The Throne” is a blistering blackened thrash track driven by relentless high tempos and unyielding aggression. The song showcases each member of MALEFIC at their absolute limits, featuring extremely fast and precise guitar picking, overly ornate drumming, and a sharp command of leads, melodies, and harmonic interplay.

Lyrically, “Blood Of The Throne” confronts the struggles of capitalism and the systems of global control imposed on the masses. While its sentiment echoes the idea of slaying the monarchy, the focus is firmly on modern structures of power, including CEOs, members of Congress, and world leaders. Ironically, the song was originally written by former guitarist Cory, whose later political alignment moved in a drastically different direction. Despite that, the lyrics remain strikingly relevant, fitting both the desperation present in the music and the broader social climate. Regardless of where listeners fall on the American political spectrum, the message is clear. We all recognize the real demons in our society, we simply do not agree on the solution.

As a high-energy, hype-driven track, the band felt Impermanence had to begin with something uncompromising. “Blood Of The Throne” sends a clear message that MALEFIC is not here to ease listeners in. Originally intended to be the album title, the song instead lent its name and artwork to a four-song demo released on Bandcamp and later on cassette. Having existed since the band’s early days, the track has evolved significantly with the modern lineup.

The song builds tension through desperate, biting vocals before opening into a soaring melodic break reminiscent of classic 1980s heavy metal. It ultimately closes with a final verse and solo, turning what was once a somber, reflective ending into a decisive final statement. That choice reinforces the song’s core theme. Capitalism and global politics do not quietly fade out, they grind forward until there is nothing left.

"We lost someone dear to us. This song is our tribute — a personal account of the unbearably tragic farewell to our friend, George Christie," the band says.

Intoxicated is a thrash/death metal band from Altamonte Springs, Florida, originally formed in 1993. PROFANE ELEGY is a black metal band from Bangor, Pennsylvania, formed in late 2021 by guitarist J Gulick and vocalist Mikael L. "Sunset Over The Final Chapter" brings that story to its conclusion, leaving listeners to piece together the details themselves.

"Throughout the VICECORE album there is a story being told," Oberlin explains. "It's up to the listener to pinpoint exactly what is being told—we're just providing the paintbrush and canvas. This song closes out the story with subtle direction, where we see ourselves walking away from a day that never seems to end, finally letting this next sunset be its last."

Recorded over 18 months and entirely self-produced by Oberlin, VICECORE also features contributions from synthwave producer Sunglasses Kid on the title track and a blistering guitar solo from virtuoso Andy James on "Is This Love." The album's aesthetic draws from Miami Vice, hardcore merch culture, and Los Angeles gang imagery, filtered through Oberlin's deep love of film soundtracks and a childhood spent obsessing over Type O Negative, Korn, and Alice in Chains.

Bizarrekult Haunt Hopes and Dreams on New Single “Drøm”

Without breaking, Bizarrekult continues to bend black metal’s traditions by honing its mastermind’s singular, tortured vision. Much like Roman V.’s two previous retreats into the studio, his upcoming third album slowly and painstakingly emerged from a deeply personal crisis. Only this time, he’s not alone in confronting all there is.  

Today, Bizarrekult is releasing the second advanced single from Alt Som Finnes (All There Is). While hounded by a familiar sense of dread, “Drøm” (Dream) escapes by following the mysterious call of Predatory Void and Cross Bringer vocalist Lina R. before the darkness closes in once more.

“Chased like a hunted beast, you run in haste, all your life, only to lose that crazy race”, Roman says about the inspiration behind “Drøm”. “It’s only in your dreams that you remember who you are and what your purpose is. “I was not ready for all this”, Roman says about Bizarrekult’s new album. “None of us are, when the time comes. But at the end of this journey, it seems to have all been worth it. The music gave me hints as to where to go and what can be”.

NYC artist NEVARIS shares 'Ninth Sun - Live', previewing 'SoundSession' EP, involving BILL LASWELL

Manhattan-based artist Nevaris presents 'Ninth Sun-Live', the first offering from his new 'SoundSession' EP, a fruitful and soulful live recording that combines dub, funk, Afro-Latin rhythms, turntablism and extended improvisation. This follows his 2023 debut 'Reverberations' album, released via M.O.D. Reloaded, with the one and only Carlos Santana calling it "a work of supreme creativity”. 

A live studio recording from percussionist Agustín Nevaris, and a nine-piece ensemble that includes DJ Logic, Jonathan Maron, Angel Rodriguez, Will Bernard, Peter Apfelbaum,  Jojo Kuo, Lockatron and Matt Dickey, 'SoundSession' is the fourth collaboration between Nevaris, legendary bassist-producer Bill Laswell, and this lineup of musicians. 

Captured in Laswell’s Orange Sound studio in West Orange, New Jersey, this EP was recorded live in a single session on May 30th, 2023. Originally planned as a streaming virtual performance, the band scrapped that idea to instead focus on the simplicity of playing live with multiple cameras documenting the process. There were no edits or overdubs to the recording, and all instruments were captured synchronously in real time. The result is 'SoundSession'.

Recorded and mixed by James Dellatacoma and mastered by Michael Fossenkember at Turtletone Studios, this recording features interpretations of music previously written by Nevaris and Bill Laswell, including specific basslines that were written by Laswell, which bassist Jonathan Maron learned and performed when Bill was unable to participate in the recording for health reasons.

"SoundSession is about playing together live without being stressed by ticket sales or a venue accommodating so many musicians. Bill Laswell's studio in West Orange, New Jersey has always been an inspiring place with so much history. (It was built for Franki Valli originally.) The live room is something magnificent. We had never used it in a way that fully took advantage of it," says Nevaris.

"So this was a chance to do so, using the full space of this sizeable room. From the first notes, we could tell there was something good happening. And the recording documents it exactly as it was, with no overdubs or edits. Every note feels right from my perspective; exactly how it happened in real time."

Agustín Nevaris is a percussionist, keyboardist, vocalist and composer, heavily influenced by Afro-Latin, dub, and funk music. From the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Nevaris also performs under the name Loud Apartment with an evolving lineup of musicians, most notably Bernie Worrell of P-Funk and Talking Heads.

"People think everything is manipulated in the studio and a lot of it is. And everybody is talking about AI now. But we are moving in the opposite direction where everything gets more organic and raw with every project we work on," says Nevaris.

"There is nothing that can compare to the beauty of artists making work in its most organic form. There's a place for technology and a place for getting back to the old school way of doing things. And that's what this recording is about. Playing live together without any click track or overdubbing, or edits of any kind. And it takes cats who can really play to pull it off. It is a joy to play with every one of the musicians involved in this process."

Inspired by the energy of growing up in New York City, Nevaris is of European and Mexican descent with multi-generational roots in both NYC and LA's Echo Park neighborhood. A visual and multimedia artist, who has worked on a vast array of creative projects across mediums, Nevaris also co-founded Nolej Records, Nolej Studios and the Uncomun Festival.

Already in the works is a second studio album that features some truly exciting special guests, which will be released via Bill Laswell's label M.O.D. Reloaded later in 2026.

As of January 7, 'Ninth Sun - Live' will be available on the 'SoundSession' EP pre-order via Bandcamp. On February 27, the full EP will be released via digital music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where the 'Reverberations' album can also be found.

DISSENTIENCE Level Cities With Crushing New Single "Kaiju"

DISSENTIENCE has released "Kaiju," the ferocious title track from their forthcoming EP Kaiju, arriving February 20, 2026. The new single opens with an explosive riff that immediately sets the stage for total destruction and signals the band’s most cinematic and punishing material to date.

Driven by relentless D beat heavy verses, "Kaiju" channels the raw aggression of punk influenced Swedish death metal pioneers like ENTOMBED and GRAVE while maintaining a distinctly modern edge. Riff after riff pummels the listener, creating a synesthetic clash between sound and story as the lyrics depict a colossal monster leveling a fictional city. The massive groove of the chorus adds a new dimension. It is catchy enough to linger yet crushingly heavy, proving that brutality and memorability can coexist.

Midway through the track, DISSENTIENCE briefly eases the throttle with a tense guitar break before detonating into what may be the heaviest riff on the EP. A haunting and dissonant solo from guitarist Connor Valentin escalates the chaos before trading off into searing pentatonic shredding from Jimmy Vitale. Just when it seems the song might relent, the final section surges forward, building intensity with each repetition and culminating in absolute chaos as soaring vocals collide with pummeling drum fills and harmonized riffing.

With "Kaiju," DISSENTIENCE continues to push the boundaries of modern metal storytelling, blending technical mastery with vivid cinematic scope. Fans can expect a fully immersive experience when Kaiju drops in full on February 20, 2026.

Kaiju is a four track concept EP inspired by Japanese monster cinema and Lovecraftian horror. Produced by the band alongside Corey Pierce, the record was engineered by Matt Menafro at Peach Pie Sound, mixed by Zeuss, and mastered by Alan Douches. Brutal Planet Records drags Six Feet Under Unburied and Bringer of Blood from obscurity with their first fully distributed vinyl editions. Unburied is pressed on Opaque Turquoise Vinyl and on CD. These nine unreleased tracks—grim outtakes from the Undead, Unborn, and Torment sessions—capture Six Feet Under in their most visceral and unrefined state. As Chris Barnes noted: “I always felt like these tracks were excellent Six Feet Under material. Real raw and in their earliest form.” 

Previously available only as a flimsy, low-quality cardboard-sleeve promo that barely surfaced in the collector world, Unburied has long been considered nearly impossible to obtain. This Brutal Planet Records edition finally gives these unearthed horrors a proper home in a jewel case with a 12-page lyric booklet, remastered by Rob Colwell and officially welcomed into the Metal Icon Series.

Brutal Planet Records resurrects the album with its first worldwide retail vinyl release, pressed on Opaque Turquoise Vinyl and mastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell. Housed in a traditional jacket with a 12x12 lyric insert, this edition finally gives Unburied the high-quality physical treatment fans have been waiting for. Only 500 LPs are being pressed. When they're gone, they’re gone.

The only previous vinyl pressing appeared briefly in Italy as a magazine kiosk bonus. It sold out instantly, was never placed into retail distribution, and is now almost impossible to locate. This Brutal Planet Records edition finally gives Unburied a proper physical home with upgraded sound mastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell, a traditional jacket, and a 12x12 lyric insert.

Brutal Planet Records also brings Bringer of Blood back from the underground, resurrecting one of Six Feet Under’s most savage chapters with its first-ever U.S. vinyl release. RED SANDS Unleash “The Hunt”

Independent melodic metal band RED SANDS announces the release of their new single “The Hunt,”. The track appears on the band’s highly anticipated EP Evocations, set for worldwide release on January 30, 2026.

“The Hunt” serves as an energetic and subconscious tribute to one of RED SANDS’ favorite metal acts, Iced Earth. Written by Eric Novelo (bass), with arrangements and lyrics by Daniel Novelo, the song blends galloping riffs, urgent pacing, and a sharp melodic edge. Although it is the most traditional track on the EP, it stands out as one of the most vibrant due to its direct songwriting and fast, unrelenting momentum.

Lyrically, “The Hunt” immerses listeners in the brutality and fervor of medieval warfare. While its themes resonate with nearly any era of armed conflict, the song draws particular inspiration from the Battle of Hattin in 1187, where Saladin’s forces defeated the Crusaders and reclaimed Jerusalem. Arabesque guitar solos, atmospheric backing vocals, and intricate sound effects depicting clashing swords and firing trebuchets create a vivid, cinematic portrayal of chaos on the battlefield.

Evocations features six tracks that explore themes of mortality, memory, and transformation. From the ominous opening “Mors Vincit Omnia” to the commanding presence of “The Coven,” the aggression of “The Hunt,” and the introspective melancholy of “My Beloved Ghost,” the EP traces a cycle of creation and decay. At its center is “System,” a new song that confronts modern corruption with sharp lyrical intent and complex musicianship. The artwork, created by vocalist and visual artist Jonathan Corral, reflects the record’s themes through surreal imagery featuring a being made from memories and relics carrying a dying bird on a blank musical score, symbolizing both unfinished creation and impermanence.

"The 'Wrath' video is fully leaning into the 'Disney Princess Metal' vibe that the song brings," says Roughton. "I get to be a damsel in distress that gives her soul to a man that was supposed to save her, but ends up stealing her soul away for corruption. I haunt his every waking move afterwards, and eventually cause him to go mad and kill his comrades. This is by far one of the coolest music videos I've ever seen and I'm so grateful that it happens to be ours!"

"'Wrath' is the culmination of resentment, cynicism and fear that was made from the experiences in A Bud That Never Blooms," the band has said about the song. "Between the societal turmoil of 'Doomsday,' the death of romance in 'Babylon,' and the familial heartbreak in 'Heaven Is Above Me,' the human condition can wreak havoc on what was supposed to be stability and peace."

The new EP follows GORE.'s Spinefarm debut, the A Bud That Never Blooms EP (2024), which saw the band tipped as a "Band You Need To Know" by Revolverand described as "cutting-edge modern metal at its most vulnerable" by NME in their 2025 Essential Emerging Artists list.

New Miserable Experience are a Philadelphia-rooted collective that reshapes heavy-music rigor into expansive, melody-forward songs through alternative synth-rock. What started as a file-trading collaboration between vocalist/bassist David Grossman (ex-Rosetta) and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Mahesh Kost (Model Prisoner) expanded into a full band that now includes Rosetta drummer Bruce "B.J." McMurtrie Jr., technical-metal bassist Brett Bamberger (ex-Revocation), and guitarist Brody Uttley (Rivers of Nihil). 
  
Each member of New Miserable Experience contributes a distinctive sonic fingerprint. The vocals act as the emotional center, delivering lines that feel confessional and immediate; synths and guitars are constructed with shimmering arpeggios and decisive motifs; percussion and production choices blend groove and tension within electronic nuance; and bass work often functions as a countermelody, lifting refrains and anchoring transitions. Edenbridge Release Lyric Video for "Set The Dark On Fire"

Austrian symphonic metal act Edenbridge have released a new digital single and lyric video.

It's the title track — "Set The Dark On Fire" — from the upcoming album out January 16.

With the title track, Edenbridge present one of their fastest songs ever. The band continues to convey confidence without denying dark themes. The songs are earthier and more emotional than ever before, and in many cases, even more aggressive — but never destructive. LOVE KILLS! marks the beginning of a new era for INDUCTION, defined by musical evolution, emotional depth, and a fearless drive to push the boundaries of modern power metal!

Bullet Release "Chained By Metal" Video // "Kickstarter" Out 1/9

NEW ALBUM KICKSTARTER OUT JANUARY 9 — PRE-ORDER

The Swedish powerhouse band Bullet have released the video for the new single "Chained By Metal" .

The song appears on their upcoming studio album Kickstarter.

 

The band says, "It was about time our small but relentlessly dedicated fan club the 'Bullet Bastards' got a song dedicated to them. Our fastest one on the album and maybe the only one able to carry the title of 'Chained by Metal.' Warm and appreciating yet hard as steel is our brothers and sisters of metal and once you become one of them it is hard to let go. You'll become chained by metal in unbreakable links of steel! That's what the song is about and a perfect song to promote as one of the singles for the album. This song shows the range of what Bullet and the new album Kickstarter is all about!"
