Germany’s Dark Metal Pioneers NACHTBLUT Announce Seventh Album, 'Todschick,' out February 21, 2025 via Napalm Records

German dark metal pioneers NACHTBLUT are back to hit venues all over Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on their Vanitas Tour, starting today in Stuttgart.

To set stages for this infernal live experience, the band has just revealed a brand new official music video for their song “Kaltes Herz” (engl. Cold Heart). It represents the quintessence of NACHTBLUT by combining a dark and morbid mood with on point lyrics that don’t mince words.

“Kaltes Herz” is cut from the band’s sixth full-length album, 'Vanitas', released in October 2020 via Napalm Records. Accompanied by a brand new official video, the song draws the listener into the band’s musical maelstrom in a classifying NACHTBLUT manner. NYC's genre-fluid ECCE SHNAK delivers blissfully pensive 'Prayer on Love' single

NYC-based outfit Ecce Shnak presents 'Prayer on Love', the second offering from their forthcoming 'Shadows Grow Fangs' EP, slated for release on February 7 via Record Man, Records. A pensive track, its guitars richly textured, its snare drums rattling, 'Prayer on Love' sees frontman David Roush’s vocals at their most distinctively beautiful. With it, they have shared a video directed by Brooklyn-based cinematographer Milton Walker.
 
“‘Prayer on Love’ is our most whole-grain rock song to date," says David Roush, "It’s a meditation on the nature of love and its diverse manifestations. It honors the complexity of love without declaring that it ‘is all we need'. The last verse is a celebration of the unique love in each person, all of our flaws notwithstanding: ‘Still my love is a star / Still my love’s a precious opportunity / and a miracle / flowing down the river of consequences and circumstances / and a self-same being.’”

This follows their powerful single 'Jeremy, Utilitarian Sadboy' about 19th Century English philosopher Jeremy Bentham, combining math-metal, post-rock and choral anthems in just 150 seconds.

Recorded and produced byJeff Lucciat the Art Farm (NY), their debut EP was mixed byNicholas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, The Fiery Furnaces, Dirty Projectors, Wild Nothing, The War on Drugs) and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Greg Calbi (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren).

If there’s a fine line between wild-eyed, inspired genius and utter, irrepressible insanity, that’s where you’ll find Ecce Shnak, teetering on a neon tightrope. With Roush as composer, bassist, and one of two singers, he is joined byBella Komodromos(vocals),Chris Krasnow(guitar),Gannon Ferrell (guitar), andHenry Buchanan-Vaughn(drums).

This group subverts notions of style, playfully but reverently embracing multiple forms from across the spectrum, frequently within a single tune, while addressing weighty themes and notable trivia with striking articulacy. Roush notes, “Each genre has its own manner of expression, mannerisms, history, motivations, virtues, flaws, limitations, and so on. At my best as a composer and lyricist, I listen to and respect each one, then whatever I take from their souls informs mine, inhabiting it, expanding, and merging.”
 
'Shadows Grow Fangs' showcases Roush’s incomparable ingenuity and limitless invention over five songs, running the gamut from slow-burning meditations on love’s indispensability to mockery of the web from the perspective of a time-traveling poet – “What the fuck is the internet?!” Of course, this might sound a little ‘zany’, but it’s really not. Not at all. It’s intricately constructed, methodically fashioned, and – while undeniably offbeat – as serious and logical as it’s entertaining.
 
Talking with Roush is like meeting a thoughtful stranger with extraordinary knowledge of the weird and arcane, a fascination for society and what led us to where we are, and a noteworthy ability to share stories in an enlightening and empathetic manner. Then finally, while you’re still absorbing all the information he’s imparted, he’ll tie the knot to complete this elegant necklace. His narrative style, in fact, is much like listening to an Ecce Shnak song, which frankly makes the band's name perfect. “The meaning,” he concludes is, ‘look at this!’” (‘Ecce’ – Latin for “Behold!”)

Switzerland’s Paleface Swiss continue their unrelenting march towards the release of their third album, ‘Cursed,’ with the unveiling of their brand-new single, “Love Burns.” Following the intensity of previous tracks “Hatred”, which was recently included in Loudwire’s coveted ‘Best Rock & Metal Songs of 2024’ list and nominated for “Angriest Song of The Year” in Nik Nocturnal’s popular annual awards and “My Blood On Your Hands,” also nominated in Nik Nocturnal Awards 2024 for ‘Best Animal Noise, this latest offering delves deeper into the band’s evolving artistry, balancing their signature heaviness with an emotionally charged narrative. “Love Burns” picks up where “My Blood On Your Hands” left off, unfolding a fictional tale of love turned destructive. Opening with the chaotic brutality that fans have come to expect, the track crescendos into a hauntingly melodic conclusion, a move that highlights the band’s growth and willingness to push boundaries. Jaye Jayle Share New Track "Bloody Me"

Kentucky-based gothic blues ensemble Jaye Jayle have shared "Bloody Me," the second single taken from their fifth full-length album, After Alter,  set for release on the January 31 through Berlin's Pelagic Records.

Originally formed as an unfiltered outlet for the sounds inside the head of band leader Evan Patterson, Jaye Jayle have always been an unpredictable entity. In the beginning, the songs were short and lighthearted, written on acoustic guitar with no plans to release them or even perform them publicly but, within a year, the private solo project had evolved into a full band and a full-length album: 2016's haunting post-punk, kraut-blues debut House Cricks and Other Excuses To Get Out. Time is indeed a fickle thing, as Jaye Jayle's forthcoming fifth album will attest.

An astounding collection of musical memories and emotional fragments, After Alter is a body of work drawn together from previous recording sessions and previous lives in order to chart a driving, cathartic course into territories unknown. "Bloody Me," the latest track shared from the album is Jaye Jayle's janiform identity made manifest. 

Written even before the band's debut album, "Bloody Me" is a bolshy, bass-driven punk rock retaliation to dressing up for Halloween because Patterson is alwaysdressed for Halloween. However, the track appears twice on the record, with a tender solo acoustic retelling cut straight to wax at Third Man Records in Nashville, mere hours before Patterson saw Bob Dylan perform for the first time, bringing the album to an introspective close. Two sides of the same coin; this latest single ferocious and snarling, its symbiotic sister plaintive and bare, but both unapologetically Jaye Jayle.

As this duality of "Bloody Me" shows, After Alter serves as both a document of the band’s history and as a new beginning. By creatively exorcising these poignant moments, Jaye Jayle are opening themselves up to new inspirations and there is already much more to come.

Patterson says, "'Bloody Me' is a testament for those that chose to not live their lives in the stereotype of the capitalistic calendar. I don't need to be told when and how to celebrate the what I love with those that I love. I do my best to celebrate everyday."

As a father, there’s a particular terror in seeing all that our grandfathers built, physically and morally, being torn apart and reduced to a commodity and wondering what kind of world my son will inherit.”

“I am by no means a philosopher – I desperately lack the patience,” A|V admits. “But my observations of the modern Western humane race have become particularly bleak, and this informs my lyrical writing process. Art as a reaction to life and experience. This is laid out in the first track, ‘A Legacy of Sores’, which posits that most of us here, in the current year, have become an alarming pairing of being both too sensitive and yet without any core beliefs to stand on. (‘Wet skin now paper thin, reveals a core of dust’) I think this is a mixture of a post-religious society and the acceleration of technology to the point at which its claws are deeply in us. SOM Announce New Album "Let The Light In" + Share Video For New Single "Give Blood"

SOM have announced the release of their third full-length album, Let The Light In, on March 14 through Berlin-based, left-field label Pelagic Records.

With a unique sound dubbed "Doom Pop" by Metal Injection, SOM's dreamy shoegaze roots are on display across Let The Light In but there is heft at its core that is bracing and ferocious. If the band's debut album The Fall explored hitting rock bottom and sophomore release The Shape of Everything grappled with the ever-darkening world around us, Let The Light In sees SOM turn their sights inward, towards our most primal impulses: Seeking solace and reconciliation from the vibrancy within ourselves and the people we hold close. 

Adversity became the catalyst for change when, due to unforeseen circumstances, the band's founding drummer left midway through the album's writing and recording process. SOM took the remainder of 2023 to reshape and refocus, eventually re-recording most of the album in a new configuration that allowed them to paint in even broader sonic strokes. The result is a raw but richly melodic album unafraid to travel through the depths of human emotion, ultimately guiding us towards growth and enlightenment.

"It's a sort of post-pandemic reflection on kindness and how we treat one another," says Benoit. "The idea came while I was laying on a table, actually giving blood. It occurred to me how kind someone would have to be to be doing this during a pandemic. I started to think about how many people were doing awful things at that time, spreading misinformation, and just generally being horrible people in society. I continue to want to do everything I can to not be that person, I want to be the kind of person who 'gives blood.'"

Swiss rock legend Marc Storace’s band STORACE announces the reissue of their first record 'Live And Let Live,' in a special edition including a bonus live album, out on December 13, 2024, via Frontiers Music Srl.

The first single, “Lady Of The Night” and the accompanying visualizer, are also available now.

Marc Storace describes the theme of the new single, by saying:

 “For this song, I was inspired by the Victorian story of 'The Lady With The Lamp,' or Florence Nightingale, a brave volunteer nurse who, against all odds, improved the horrific sanitary conditions to stop wounded soldiers from dying in hospital during the Crimean War of 1854.”

“'Lady Of The Night' pays tribute to the brave and selfless nurses who fought very hard to save the lives of countless victims of the coronavirus during the recent world epidemic!”, adds Storace.

Talking about the album release, Storace comments:

 “Krokus had stopped to exist because of Covid and no one really knew what the outcome of the pandemic would be, so not wasting time I started working on a solo album!  “During the past three intensive years playing throughout Switzerland we recorded many gigs and the live album features the best of the crop, highlighting songs we recorded during hot performances in Zürich’s Hallenstadion as special guests of KISS, and The Scorpions, and whilst sharing the famous 'Rock The Ring Festival' stage with Alice Cooper and his notorious band.

“Included on the setlist are songs from Krokus which we never play, like 'Midnite Maniac' and 'To The Top'; also a beefed up version of 'Telephone Man' from my late seventies London band Eazy Money”, he continues.

'Live And Let Live' is STORACE’s first official solo album. It was recorded during the 2021 lockdown of the Covid pandemic and was produced by Cyrill Camenzind and Massimo Buonanno at Powerplay Studios, near Zürich.

Cyrill, Massi, and Marc composed some of the songs together, and they played on the album which also features the talented musicians Marco Blöchlinger on bass, Christian Roffler on keys, Jean Pierre Von Dach on lead guitar, and Gee K, Micha Dettwyler and Céline Haleson backing vocals.

'Live And Let Live' was officially released in Switzerland on December 18, 2021, during a gig at the legendary Music-Club outside Bern called the “Mühle Hunziken." It was performed by the studio band, all except J.P. Von Dach, who had been replaced by Turi Wicki due to his heavy touring commitments with Joss Stone.

Swedish Punk Rock Supergroup MIDLIFE CRISIS Release New Single "Sick of You"

Sweden’s punk rock scene has never seen anything quite like MIDLIFE CRISIS, a powerhouse supergroup rooted in the raw energy of ’77 Punk Rock. Comprised of legendary musicians from some of Sweden’s most iconic rock acts, the group features Urrke (Maryslim, Bizex-B), Dregen (Backyard Babies, The Hellacopters, Mike Monroe Band), Robban Eriksson (The Hellacopters, Strindbergs, Winnerbäck, Syl Sylvain), and Måns P Månsson (Crimson Shadows, Wrecks, Maggots).

In 2004, MIDLIFE CRISIS first joined forces to pay homage to their punk rock roots, recording three blistering renditions of old punk classics. These tracks debuted on a now-coveted vinyl EP, showcasing their collective passion for raw, unfiltered punk. Over the years, the band’s legacy grew with three additional EP releases, the latest hitting shelves in 2018.

Now, for the first time ever, MIDLIFE CRISIS is bringing their electrifying sound to digital platforms, making their music accessible to fans worldwide. Today, to celebrate this milestone, MIDLIFE CRISIS has dropped their first digital single off the upcoming release '45 Turns 33' titled “Sick of You” – a track that captures the snarling energy and rebellious spirit that defines the group.

"OVER AND OVER" delves into the painful intricacies of a toxic relationship, where boundaries were sacrificed and self-worth was challenged. Echos reflects, "This song is about the struggle of continually giving in and losing myself in the process. It’s about finally learning to stand up for myself and choosing healing over pain." 

This single encapsulates the overarching narrative of her upcoming album, serving as a poignant exploration of trauma, resilience, and self-discovery. "This album is my most cherished work yet. It's a testament to my journey toward healing and reclaiming my voice," she shares. Each track encapsulates a chapter of her experiences, drawing from the shadows of her past while illuminating the path toward empowerment.

Echos has cultivated a devoted fanbase, who connect deeply through her candid discussions about mental health, depression, and trauma. "My hope is that through my music, others will feel less alone in their struggles and realize that healing is possible," she affirms.

The tracks follow the previously released "CAROUSEL," the vulnerable "PAPERCUTS," and the cathartic "BRUISES,"  all of which were released with their own music videos creative directed by Echos, and have garnered over 1M global streams and rising, as well as a sizable placement on the hit show Love Island.

QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE marks a bold new chapter for Echos. Listeners can expect an album filled with poignant narratives, rich instrumentation, and a profound sense of catharsis that echoes her healing journey.

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX Premier New Cover Album

In light of the band's 20th anniversary, Crippled Black Phoenix are continuing their tradition of haunting homages. Horrific Honorifics Number Two (2) includes dark new covers that range from a faithfully fierce rendition of Fugazi's "Blueprint" to NoMeansNo, Deep Purple and Laura Branigan's Top 10 hit "Self Control".

In true CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX fashion, the Lucy Marshall-created Banefyre cover leaves plenty to the imagination, depicting four animals seated at a table — interacting and dressed like human beings. “It’s sort of like Planet of the Apes showing what animals could do to humans,” says Greaves. “The cover was specially commissioned and is unique to the album. It’s incorporating all the classic CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX elements with the love for animals and twisting the narrative around.”

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX’s reputation was built on the back of their studio albums and live shows. The pandemic prevented the band from supporting Ellengæst, but it did provide them additional time to bring in new members to their live configuration.

“We’ve done one show since 2019,” says Greaves. “We are going to do something in Europe this year. Hopefully, we can get back on track. We’re also going to do something in the States — that’s not just talk, we’re actually going to do it. It’s well overdue. The live band is fucking amazing. We have the five of us and now we have Jordi [Farré] on drums, Paco [Fleischfresser] on synth and a really good friend of mine, Matt Crawford on bass.

“We did the Leipzig show and even though the rehearsals were better than the show itself, that lineup, our live band, is so good. Because we haven’t been under pressure to put a live band together since 2019 and spent so long talking to people, we’ve got a better band from those results. Out of disaster, we’ve got quite a good, positive thing.”
