Riding the triumphant success of their 50th Anniversary celebration, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT is rolling into the release of '50th Anniversary Live – Third Night,' the final installment of the live album celebrating the band’s 50th Anniversary.

This electrifying performance, which includes the band’s third album 'Secret Treaties' performed back-to-back, is set to hit the shelves on December 13, 2024 and promises to be a spectacular follow-up to the band's historic three-night stint at Sony Hall in NYC.

In September of 2022, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT enthralled fans with a unique trilogy of sold-out shows, each dedicated to one of their first three albums. Founding member Albert Bouchardmade a special appearance on all three nights, adding a nostalgic touch to the historic milestone.

These live releases follow ‘Ghost Stories’ - a captivating collection of reimagined and completed songs from 1978 to 2016. These musical treasures, long considered the 'lost gems' by BLUE ÖYSTER CULT enthusiasts, were originally recorded between 1978 and 1983, except for one track from 2016, "If I Fell." Some material is from workshopping albums, some from performance rehearsals, and all were recorded once in the hopes that someday they'd see the light of day.

George Geranios, the band's original audio engineer and an integral part of the band's golden years produced the tracks along with BÖC and all were originally recorded on reel-to-reel analog tape. He transferred them to digital audio which is when modern AI and magical musical talents meet and the collection of vintage multi-track recordings was de-mixed, re-mixed, and produced by Steve Schenck and Richie Castellano to become 'Ghost Stories.' 

Richie Castellano completed work in the studio for the album along with remaining original members Eric Bloom and Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser and both Albert Bouchard and Rick Downey appear on drums with additional overdubs recorded by Joe Bouchard. All these original lineup members appearing on 'Ghost Stories,' create a musical journey that traverses decades and promises easter eggs for days.

The Great Old Ones Draw Us "In The Mouth of Madness"

Though they emerged from France more than a decade ago, The Great Old Ones transcend mere earthly realms. On their upcoming fifth album the post-black metal band weave more bone-chilling tales from the lore of H.P. Lovecraft. SODOM RELEASE LONG AWAITED, EXPANDED REISSUE EDITIONS OF THEIR 1992 CULT ALBUM ‘TAPPING THE VEIN’

Sodom’s cult 1992 album Tapping The Vein covered a wide range of lyrical topics amongst its eleven songs and opening track ‘Body Parts’ deals with the horrors of the organ trade. The lyric writing duties on the album were, for the first time shared out between all three members; Tom Angelripper, Andy Brings and Chris Witchhunter. It was Chris along with a friend of his called Bertrum, who contributed the lyrics to ‘Body Parts’. It was also one of the songs where producer, Harris Johns suggested Tom lowered his voice, which worked perfectly with the bands standard tuning, while still retaining a menacing character.

The new expanded editions of Sodom’s, Tapping The Vein feature the original album remastered, it also features a complete remixed version done by Andy Brings with some additional alternative takes of three album tracks, plus three live concerts: Tokyo 1992, Düsseldorf 1992 and Cologne 1992 (Chris Witchhunter´s last show with Sodom) in the super deluxe edition.

TULIPOMANIA previews 'I've Been Told' from 'Absolution' album, released in lock-step with bestseller JEFF VANDERMEER

Philadelphia-based art-rock duo Tulipomania are back with 'I've Been Told - Absolution', the first offering from their sixth album 'Absolution', inspired by an invitation from acclaimed author Jeff VanderMeer to contribute music as part of the publication of his latest novel 'Absolution', the surprise fourth volume in his award-winning 'Southern Reach' series.

With a pressingly mournful urgency, this soundscape resonates with the complex energies enveloping VanderMeer’s novel, the author having invited the duo to create music inspired by 'Absolution' while still a work in progress. Hearing that VanderMeer took inspiration for the 'Absolution' novel from their 'Dreaming of Sleep' album, the duo enthusiastically accepted the challenge.

Alternately categorized as cult synth punks, glam-leaning, post-punk, art-rock and muscular chamber pop, Tulipomania is Tom Murray (lead vocals, synthesizer, electronic percussion) and Cheryl Gelover (synthesizer, background vocals) – they first began their collaboration through projects for experimental film and animation classes. Tulipomania evolved from those experiences. Their new 'Absolution' album includes four new tracks inspired by VanderMeer's new novel, plus ten alternate versions of the songs that originally sparked VanderMeer’s interest, reimagined as a cohesive sonic experience.

It's an exciting development for the duo to be involved in this new chapter of the Southern Reach Trilogy with 'Absolution' being the brilliant, beautiful and terrifying final word on one of the most provocative and popular speculative fiction series of our time. In the liner notes to the album, VanderMeer lends insight into his creative process: "I remember being in the middle of the ecstatic visions that formed my novel Absolution and discovering Tulipomania's music for the first time, around August of 2023 - this very album's doppelganger, in fact. The original mix of 'Dreaming of Sleep'. It felt like a revelation - hypnotic, pulsing music that got deep hooks into my brain, so I couldn't stop listening to the songs. Like a lighthouse's roving light, the songs felt like a beacon, and the recursive nature of the composition, the sense of a beating heart, a thick muscle at the core of them, combined with the surreal lyrics got deep into the novel's DNA. ... So I was really pleased that this opportunity for this wonderful contamination of (novel / album) to go the other way - the Absolution remix of 'Dreaming of Sleep', with four new Absolution tracks! I really love this band so much - to the point I've listened to and recommend their entire back catalogue - that it's an honor."

A sign of serendipity, the cover for this album was created by acclaimed artist Pablo Delcan, who also produced the artwork for the 10th anniversary editions of the Southern Reach Trilogy.

“Having the author crowned the ‘weird Thoreau’ entrust us with early versions of his newest novel Absolution was enormously enticing – knowing that he believed we could return with him to the world of Area X for the purpose of a cross-pollination is very exciting," Cheryl Gelover.

"We’re so glad we emerged from the journey with alternate versions of the ten tracks that originally inspired him, as well as four entirely new songs directly inspired by our immersion in the Southern Reach series and the latest novel in the series - Absolution.  It is quite an honor to share a title on our new album with Jeff's latest.”

Jeff VanderMeer fondly describes the animated video for 'I've Been Told - Absolution': "The dreamlike immersion in imagery from the novel creates a hypnotic and perfect effect for both a beautiful dirge and surge of a song and the atmosphere for Absolution. Gorgeous and evocative".  Shot frame by frame, utilizing multiple processes, including thermal printing, to create layered textures, the video features stop-motion animated objects (some frames vibrantly hand-tinted) and glimpses of the duo singing the lyrics. This exploration of various states of disintegration, painstakingly assembling thousands of individual images, evokes Absolution’s themes of dissolution and disorientation.

Described as ‘artistic and inventive’ and ‘gorgeous', Tulipomania's animated music videos have been featured in film festivals worldwide, including the Leeds International Film Festival (UK), StopTrik (Croatia, Poland), AniFilm (Czech Republic) and Tallgrass International Film Festival (USA).

On ‘Absolution', Tulipomania is immersed fully in electronic means of creation – the exception being a sole accent played on electric guitar on the last track. This record involves Executive Producer Howard Thompson, renowned as a record industry executive (Elektra, Island, Almo Sounds), credited for having discovered and / or worked with Adam and the Ants, Billy Bragg, MC5, Mötorhead, PiL, Psychedelic Furs, Robyn Hitchcock, The Sugarcubes and Suicide, among others.

Danish deathhore heavyweights CABAL have announced their second album Everything Rots with the new single ‘End Times’. Everything Rots features 13 brand new tracks and shows once again what the hardest band in Denmark is built for - brutal deathcore! breakdowns to create a sonic attack on the senses that’s sure to please and surprise any fan of extreme heaviness. Just like instrumentals the lyrics are dark and direct as they detail the cyclical nature of depression, addiction and trauma, as they work through and detail deeply scarring life experiences and invite the listernes inside a dark world were everything everything rots and falls apart again and again and again.

Tracks like ’Still Cursed’ dives into the struggle of dealing with depression and feeling eternally cursed, while the title track is an anthem for the generations born into a world of crushing uncertainty, that feels like it could collapse around them at any time. ’No Peace’ describes the harrowing real life ordeal of finding a dying suicide victim in the streets of Copenhagen, and powerlessly watching the life drains from their eyes. ‘Unveiled’ and ‘Forever Marked’ deals with two sides of the same experience of having an abuser close to you. One describes the intense anger and feeling of betrayal, that comes from finding out that someone you considered family could commit such acts, while the other the feeling of guilt in knowing that this happened so close to you without you catching on to it. 

The album will be released through Nuclear Blast in April 2025 and like a rabid hell hound on a chain, this album is foaming at the mouth to be released and unleash the rot upon the world.

Emerging Swedish Thrashers SARCATOR Unleashes Ferocious New Single, "Comet of End Times"

Swedish thrash metal newcomers SARCATOR will be releasing their new full-length, 'Swarming Angels & Flies,' on January 17, 2025 via Century Media Records, making it their debut to the label! The band is now sharing the ferocious new single from the offering, "The Comet of End Times," which can be found along with a lyric video below.

At a juvenile age of 14-20, Sarcator released their first demo tape, “Visions of Purgatory”, via the American label Redefining Darkness Records in 2019. Just two years later the quadrumvirate got nominated for best rock/metal album for the Swedish music award P3 Guld with their 2020’s self-titled debut release for the same label. After releasing their 2nd album, “Alkahest”, via Black Lion Records in 2022, Sarcator finally got a proper chance to play live, captivating crowds with their intense, blackened live shows.

With their current line-up fully committed to the band despite their young age (all members are between 19 and 25) it was time for them to record their third album, which still features previous guitarist Emil Eriksson. Shortly after signing a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records and heading out on a debut European tour supporting Hellripper and Cloak, Sarcator will be releasing 'Swarming Angels & Flies' on January 17, 2025.

This album marks the most intense, brutal and rawest creation yet for the band. Thy Catafalque Premiere Dark and Dreamy New Album

Like all big things, Thy Catafalque come from small beginnings. Back in the late '90s, Tamás Kátai started the project in his Hungarian hometown as a black metal duo that was never intended to leave the studio. Now, two decades later, the two-time Fonogram winner and his lively band of collaborators are about to release their most imaginative album yet.

US-Argentinian duo AEROLINEA announces debut album 'All We Need', shares 'Nervous' video

Indie pop duo Aerolinea presents their new single 'Nervous', previewing their 'All We Need' album, the debut offering from this Argentinian-American project, which also sees a guest appearance by Failure drummer Kellii Scott. This eight-track record hits all music platforms on November 28.

Aerolinea is made up of Argentinian artist Victoria Real and Eric Weissinger of Atlanta dream-gaze duo I Am a Rocketship - both songwriters, vocalists and multi-instrumentalists. What began in April 2023 with an Instagram message led to a year of file sharing and meet ups in Florida and Argentina. The two met the pandemic thanks to a chance meeting while performing for the NMER Music Festival (organised by No Me Escucho Records) - a spark that planted the seed for what is now Aerolinea.

'Nervous' commences with a simple guitar line over a minimal kick and snare drum, interrupted by a repeated distorted riff. Quiet, thoughtful verses give way to a lush, melodic chorus, with both members of the band joining forces. The song closes with chaotic guitar and echoing, overlapping voices, bringing it to a nervous but satisfying conclusion.

''Nervous' is a different way of describing feeling alone. We need connections, and when you’re missing a connection, you start to doubt yourself, and not feel complete. You worry. The song is more about the subject’s emotions, and you don’t know anything about who they miss," says Eric Weissinger.

Victoria Real adds, "Nervous is the feeling we wanted to express here. Like a hunch that something is out of place. We put music and lyrics to it to evoke that feeling and thereby also evoke instant relief when expressed and channeled in this song".

With passionate tandem lyrics, intertwining guitars and rhythms that sometimes groove and sometimes surprise, Aerolinea crafts a sound designed for romantics and misfits, for late nights and strange places. Earlier, Aerolinea shared their debut single 'What Moves You', a dreamy track that oscillates between minimalistic pensiveness and intense euphoria for a sonic journey that is worth the flight. Its dramatic video was directed by renowned cinematographer Nico Purdía.

Victoria Real honed her musical skills under the tutelage of King Crimson guitar legend Robert Fripp, first as a Guitar Craft student and later performing with the League of Crafty Guitarists. She has released four albums as a solo artist with a fifth album in production. In 2021, she received the “Artist Revelation Rock of the Year” award at the Cordoba Entertainment Awards (Premios CIEyA) and was nominated a “Artist of the Year” and “Rock Artist of the Year” in 2023 and 2024.

Eric Weissinger has released five albums and an EP with I Am a Rocketship. Before forming this duo, he was bassist for Anne Richmond Boston (DB Recs). As a bassist, guitarist and singer in this and other projects, he has opened for numerous notable bands, including The Black Crowes, James, The Wedding Present, Cracker and Portastatic.

As of November 12, 'Nervous' is available on fine digital platforms, including Bandcamp, where Aerolinea's 'All We Need' album is available for pre-order via My Long Wknd Records. Aerolinea will be touring Argentina, Chile and Brazil in the new year, kicking off at Buenos Aires' Bar Carnal on January 11.

Icelandic Prog Metal Newcomers Múr Unleash Music Video for New Single, "Holskefla"

With a sound that defies generic labels and a vision that stretches the limits of creativity, Múr are the latest descendants from Iceland’s volcanic underground. The emerging quintet are forging a new era of dark, atmospheric and boundary shattering metal. With progressive sensibilities that harken to the Devin Townsend Project and mid-era Opeth, a talent to cohesively juxtapose atmospheric textures with polished technicality a la Meshuggah and Gojira, and a focus on jazz study among the fresh-faced instrumentalists, Múr is already proving itself to be a reckoning force.

Múr is now unleashing the latest offering from its upcoming self-titled debut, which is due on November 22, 2024 via Century Media Records! The new single, "Holskefla," can be found along with a music video below.

The band comments: “‘Holskefla’ is one of the oldest songs written for our debut album and our earliest exploration into writing in odd time signatures. The title means ‘deluge’ or ‘barrage’ and the song embodies the album’s overall theme of breaking the shackles of inner turmoil and finding strength in letting go.”

Múr’s trajectory really gained momentum a year after their formation when their talent was recognized in the spring of 2022 as they conquered the Icelandic Wacken Metal Battle, propelling them to an impressive fourth place in the international finale at Wacken Open Air in Germany.

The band recently created a buzz following the release of their folk horror infused video for “Heimsslit," which can be found HERE.

“'Heimsslit’ is an Icelandic word for the apocalypse, but the literal translation is 'world's tearing,’ inspiring a vision of the world coming apart at the seams,” says the band. “The lyrical themes have more to do with an acceptance of something vital falling apart within one's own mind rather than being about the physical world ending. The song is accompanied by our first music video, a massive cross-discipline collaboration between local artists."

Savage Lands Announce Debut Album

Punishing noise levels are a natural force among metal's various habitats. But after hearing the roar of chainsaws tear through Costa Rica's rain forest, two angry metalheads are banging their heads together to protect our ecosystems.

Savage Lands is co-operated by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercastel. Since its founding in 2022, the U.S.-based 501 (c) (3) non-profit has preserved 100,000 square feet of Costa Rican forest using the money from their music. 100% of the royalties from the organization's debut album, Army of the Trees, support their ongoing preservation projects in Costa Rica and other countries.

Army of the Trees comes out February 15, 2025 on Season of Mist.

Like the trees of the rain forest, Savage Lands are supported by many different branches.

On the ground, the organization partners with scientists, forest engineers, ecological parks, private businesses and other local non-profits. Their Green Alliance has led to more than 11,000 trees being planted in deforested areas along the Costa Rican coastline thanks to the help of 1,200 volunteers. They also partner with global conservation leaders like the Jane Goodall Institute.

"Nature is music. Trees are music", said the world famous scientist, who is working together with the metal non-profit on preservation projects in Africa and France. 

Collaboration also fuels Savage Lands' creative drive. Army of the Trees introduces several species of metalhead into the band's natural environment. The album features Alissa White-Gluz, Lord of the Lost and other movers and shakers from across the metal industry. While the title track boasts a wild ranging guest list, its anthemic energy comes from the organization's earliest roots.

The foundation of Savage Lands was three decades in the making. Dirk and Sylvain first met in France during the late '90s, when they both played in the socially conscious thrash metal band Artsonic. While Dirk went on to join Soilwork and Megadeth, the country has continued to support their joint conservation efforts. Hellfest pledged to donate 1 million Euro to Savage Lands after the band performed on the main stage at this year's festival with familiar faces from Napalm Death, Biohazard, Body Count, The Gathering and their core members in French metalcore exploders Black Bomb A and Chicano crossover punks Loco Muerte.

"That's one of the beautiful things about Savage Lands", Sylvain says. "As a band, we're not limited to just one genre. We can adapt to boost the strengths of whoever is joining us". 

"Army of the Trees" packs more Francophone force. Eight pillars from the French metal scene join Savage Lands in the fight to protect the world's ecosystems. Niko of Tagada Jones throws lyrical haymakers while Loco Muerte's Steeven Corsini spins a blazing rap between drums that pound with all the force of the jungle. Auré Jäger (Akiavel), David Sidilarsen and the mighty Julien Truchan from Benighted flex their beastly growls. The ghostly video is a chilling reminder of what's at stake, but the fiery guitar solos from Sylvain, Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast) and Nils Courbaron (Sirenia / Dropdead Chaos) put more than enough bite behind Savage Lands' fierce rallying cry. "Now is the time to take a stand".

“Our goals are attainable,” Sylvain and Dirk say. “By converting the land that we purchase into nature sanctuaries, Savage Lands will help set a precedent for environmental activism. But we must work together and quickly. Ecosystems are still under attack. If we don’t, then there won’t be any wildlife left to save”.

The band's core is completed by the inseparable English trio of lead guitarist Matt Peach, drummer Sebastian Boyse, and bassist Tommy Gent. Hailing from Derby, England, these three have been friends since childhood and share an undeniable chemistry that fuels their explosive performances. Their combined talents create a rich, guitar-drenched sound steeped in glam rock and '80s punk, offering a musical experience that is both timeless and contemporary.

Their debut album, Missing Person, was a critical triumph, marking the band as a unique force in modern rock, which led to the album being spotlighted by Rolling Stone as "The Album Rolling Stone Recommends" in the month following the album's release.

With over 800k followers across social media platforms, Kelsy Karter & The Heroines have built a digital circus of live performances, comedy skits, and touring anecdotes. Mörk Gryning Release New Single "Black Angel"

While at home amongst the shadows, Mörk Gryning have been a blazing force in black metal since the early '90s. The melodic Swedes refuse to yield to trends, honoring their feral countrymen by carving out raw, apocalyptic symphonies. Their upcoming new album, Fasornas Tid,is scrawled in the same sacred and bloody ink as their seminal debut, yet remains drenched in the visceral immediacy of the present.   

The ferocity of the album's new single is unmatched. "Black Angel" leads listeners through a dystopian landscape, blending melodic black metal mastery and the savagery of death metal.

Recorded, mixed and mastered at Wing Studios by Sverker Widgren, Fasornas Tid promises to be a journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche. With album artwork crafted by the enigmatic C-G, every aspect of this release speaks to the unyielding spirit and dark, rebellious heart of Mörk Gryning.

Mörk Gryning was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993 by Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera. Two years later they released their debut album “Tusen År Har Gått” (1995), recorded and mixed at Unisound Studios, by legendary producer Dan Swanö and released by No Fashion. The album is one of the milestones of the ‘90s Swedish Black Metal scene.

The group returned to action in November 1996, working at Sunlight Studios together with Tomas Skogsberg and Dismember’s Fred Estby to craft the “Return Fire” album. Over the following years, three more albums were released, for example “Maelstrom Chaos” with new guitarist Avathar, a scene veteran, recorded at the legendary Grieghallen Studios Bergen, Norway.

Ever since the debut album, “Tusen år har gått…”, Mörk Gryning has refused to follow in the footsteps of others and walked their own paths – something which is made very clear on the 2003 release “Pieces of Primal Expressionism”, an experimental and heavy progressive release recorded at Dug Out, produced by Daniel Bergstrand. After a couple of years of touring and festival performances, the band was put on hold.

Returning to the scene again in 2017, the band performed an exclusive live show in Stockholm playing all the songs from the debut album and some other songs from the back catalogue. This ended in releasing the 4-song live record called “Live at Kraken”. During the pandemic the comeback album “Hinsides Vrede” was released to much critical acclaim with many of the songs today being the backbone of their live shows. A new album is scheduled for release in 2024 and the band is more active than ever.

Dark Chapel announce Debut Album

Guitarist/singer/producer Dario Lorina, best-known as a longtime member of Black Label Society (2014 to present), is launching his brand new band, DARK CHAPEL.

Led by Lorina and also featuring Brody DeRozie (Guitar), Mike Gunn (Bass), and Luis Silva (Drums), the band’s airtight guitar-craft and sludgy grooves with magnetic melodies, bluesy phrasing, and grunge mystique are spotlighted on their debut album, Spirit in The Glass, which is due out February 28, 2025 on MNRK Heavy. 

Dario’s gritty delivery on the song takes hold on a hypnotic hook, bleeding into a fret-burning lead punctuated by dramatic bends. “’Glass Heart’ is a lyrical and almost cinematic musical story that started with a riff and lyrically stemmed from emotion,” he reveals. “That emotion created an imagery for me that I began writing about as if that feeling was a painting I was writing to describe.”

Striking an elusive balance between dark and heavy, ethereal and passionate, Spirit in The Glass  is as Lorina describes, ““This is a culmination of all artistic influence, whether musical or otherwise.”

Dario Lorina began his professional career in 2006 when he was 16 as the touring guitarist with the late Jani Lane (ex-Warrant). At 19, he joined veteran metal act Lizzy Borden whom he toured with for four years. He released two instrumental records with Mike Varney on Shrapnel Records in 2013 and 2017 titled, DARIO LORINA and DEATH GRIP TRIBULATIONS. On January 1, 2014 he joined Black Label Society and has since been touring worldwide alongside Zakk Wylde, performing on guitar, piano and backing vocals ever since. Lorina dueled solos with Wylde on Black Label Society's 2022 album DOOM CREW INC., and he joined Zakk Wylde on the January 2022 cover of Guitar World magazine.

“The guitar never really left my hands,” he laughs. Years of woodshedding followed. At 16 years old, he answered the call to audition for Jani Lane and found himself on the road with the ex-Warrant frontman shortly thereafter.

Until I Wake Drop "Messenger" Lyric Video

Buffalo quartet Until I Wake — new vocalist Justin Smith, alongside bassistRyan Ridley, guitarists August Geitner and Niko Karras, and drummer Alex Curtin — recently announced their new album Renovate. It arrives on December 6 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it here. 

On Renovate, the band has upped the ante, cranking all knobs to 11. "'Messenger' is a story of faith in what we cannot see or understand," Smith states. "The feeling that something is watching over us and guiding us from pain to growth. I wrote this song based off of a dream that strongly influenced my life toward the path of music and my faith in God."

 Until I Wake show off their moody side here. The band sprinkles hip-hop-inspired choruses and rhythms among its signature blend of molten metal, raging riffs, and alternately sung and screamed vocals. Liverpool's THE WOOD shares 'Thornside Walk', previewing eponymous debut album

Liverpool-based The Wood presents 'Thornside Walk', a song of hope, redemption and eventual triumph, and the second taste of the duo's debut 'Days' album, out on November 22 via Riverdream Records.

Made of up Alex Evans (vocals, backing vocals, percussion) and Steve Powell (guitars, bass, backing vocals, keys, percussion), The Wood bring rock solid grooves, creating melodies full of beauty, passion, pain and the power of real soul.

As a producer, Steve Powell is an expert at unearthing sonic magic, having recorded many notable artists records, including Michael Head and The Strands, John Power, def.fo, The Stairs and Ella Guru He also produced and played guitar on the first Michael Head and the Red Elastic Band record 'Arturius Revisited' and number one indie album 'Adios Senor Pussycat'.

“'Thornside Walk' was written in the darkest period of my life - a place filled with anger, confusion and sorrow. This was first time I was truly able to express my feelings through music and the beginning of The Wood creating music with real depth. 'Thornside Walk' serves to show that, even in our darkest hour, there lies resilience and hope. A true reflection of a moment in time and one of our proudest songs to date,” says Alex Evans.

Steve Powell adds, “This was the first song Alex and myself wrote together. It’s about being faced with the darkest of times, but there’s light at the end of the long tunnel. Allow yourself to embrace the joy life has to offer. Ultimately, it’s an uplifting song."

Last month, the band released the lead single 'Let It Loose' with a surreal video, filmed and edited by Dylan Cox at the Pro Flex Gym in Liverpool and featuring boxer Jake Harrison, along with a host of other shady characters.

The two met when Powell was blown away by Evans' voice while recording him at his Ark Recording Studios in Liverpool. From the outset, they realised they were creating music that was difficult to categorise yet somehow sounded familiar, meshing blue-eyed soul, southern and indie rock.

With Steve on guitar and bass, they enlisted several talented friends, including Martin Smith and Simon James (The Coral, Shack) on brass, and Jake Howden-Woodward (Nova Twins).

Alex Evans has a voice capable of turning real pain into raw beauty. Imbued with a rare natural soul, he leaps effortlessly from brooding, troubled depth to full-throated gospel glory as he leans in close to that groove. Together as The Wood, they create music of passion and pain, of glory and redemption. Songs where all the right decisions have been made, deliberate and slowly, without any external pressure, only the enriching pleasure of artistic collaboration.

As of November 8, 'Thornside Walk' is available everywhere online, including Bandcamp and Spotify. The 'Days' album is out November 22, accompanied by The Wood's album release show at Leaf - Bold Street in Liverpool on November 20 and December 6 show at A.R.C @ Camp&Furnace Liverpool.

LA-based Tombstones In Their Eyes shares 'In Your Eyes', previewing 'Asylum Harbour' LP

West coast psychedelic rock outfit Tombstones In Their Eyes presents their new single 'In Your Eyes', the final single from their 'Asylum Harbour' album, out November 19 via Kitten Robot Records, an album that pulls past the pain, numbness and chaos reflected on their previous album 'Sea of Sorrow'.

Based in Los Angeles, Tombstones In Their Eyes is made up of long-time members John Treanor (vocals & guitar), Stephen Striegel (drums), Courtney Davies (vocals) , Phil Cobb (guitar) and Paul Boutin (guitar), along with new band members Joel Wasko (bass) and Clea Cullen (vocals).
 
The band earlier shared the singles 'Sweet as Pie', 'I'm Not Like That', and the latest and heaviest - 'I Like to Feel Good', the video for which oscillates between electrified stage performances and scenes from a chilled drive through LA, reflecting the transformation inherent in its lyrics about how one's inner strength and individuality can be a catalyst for positive change.

Recorded at Kitten Robot Studios in Los Angeles and  co-produced by John Treanor, this album was produced and engineered by Paul Roessler (45 Grave, Twisted Roots, The Screamers, Nina Hagen), also known for his work with Josie Cotton, Hayley and the Crushers and Gitane Demone.

"'In Your Eyes' is a great example of TITE’s current obsession with vocal harmonies. When I brought the demo to Paul Roessler at Kitten Robot Studio, we listened to the isolated vocal tracks and we were both amazed. I think there were eight tracks of vocals that I had done at home and it sounded like Beach Boys style harmonies and layering. We then proceeded to recreate those in the studio and even add more," explains John Treanor.

"The song also features a diseased sounding lead from guitarist Phil Cobb, which is a great counterpoint to all the prettiness. Lyrically, the song is almost cheerful for us, no doom, depression, fighting against yourself or the world. The verses are all about letting go and giving in to love. The choruses are a pleading for inclusion."

Tombstones In Their Eyes began a decade ago through demo-swapping between two childhood friends separated by geography (Treanor in LA and James Cooper in NYC). It soon grew into a full-fledged band and a healthy stream of expansive music that is laced with fuzzed out psychedelic majesty. For Treanor, writing and performing is a way to deal with anxiety and depression, to speak about a subject without being the centre of the conversation, and to express oneself in a subliminal way rather than directly. TITE's music looks out into the universe as much as it looks inward toward the soul. 

Named after a maritime phrase for a safe place to wait out a storm, 'Asylum Harbour' is an album of resurfacing, reflecting a new phase of healing after re-emerging from the pandemic. Treanor shares, "The album has been ready for some time, so it’s a relief to get it out.... Now we get to go out and play the songs from the new record live." 

'In Your Eyes' is available exclusively via Bandcamp, where the full 'Asylum Harbour' album can be pre-ordered now. On November 18, this record will be released on CD, snazzy red vinyl and digitally everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.
