Paralandra Share "Love of My Life" — Listen // New Album "The Body Electric" Out in April

PARALANDRA, a hard rock band from Missouri that will delight fans of Alter Bridge, Queen, and Shinedown, have shared their new single "Love of My Life."

Listen below.

Think power riffs and soaring, stadium-sized vocals!

"I originally wrote and recorded this song just as an anniversary present for my boyfriend, Jaron, back in 2020," shares signer Casandra Carson. "I never intended on releasing it publicly since it was a gift and something personal, but after sharing it with our friends and family, they all convinced me the world needed to hear it, too. It's a bit of a step outside of Paralandra's usual high-energy rock sound, but when we we were in the studio last year, we played it for Elvis Baskette and proposed doing a ballad on this record, and he absolutely loved it! We added an extra bridge and a guitar solo, and ended up making this song something much more beautiful than I had ever envisioned. I couldn't be more proud finally to be sharing this with the world."

The song lives on the band's upcoming album The Body Electric, out April 4. Pre-order it here. Pre-save it here.

The independent band will be on the road as much as possible in 2024. All currently confirmed dates are below, with more to come.

ABOUT PARALANDRA:
Paralandra formed in the summer of 2013 when Casandra Carson and her dad, Paul Carson, began writing songs together to play a one-time event at their local county 4th of July celebration. The response was so positive, and they enjoyed it so much, they decided to continue booking shows and writing songs. They recorded and released a homemade CD titled Rise Up, which sold over 1,000 copies at local shows. Shortly after, friend and local musician, Sawyer Rikard, joined the band on bass guitar in 2015, bringing their stage sound and performance to another level. In March of 2016, they released a follow-up EP, All Fall Down, which debuted #1 on the BIllboard Heatseekers chart. They soon began touring and being invited to festivals such as Rocklahoma, SXSW, Rockfest, Dirtfest, and Loud in Lima.

In 2018, they joined forces with Legend Recordings, and released another EP, Ascension, which became their biggest release yet with singles "Back to Life" and "Killer Queen" landing on the radio. Shortly after, they added local powerhouse drummer (and childhood friend of Sawyer), Dakota Watson, to form the rhythm section Casandra, Paul, and Sawyer had always dreamed of. In 2019, they recorded standalone single "Love Will Win" with producer/videographer, Jake Jones, which gained even more radio play, and placed them on numerous national tours; supporting artists such as Tantric, Saliva, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dokken, and being added to the KISS Kruise and NAMM Show.

The band continued to write, record, livestream, and perform wherever they could during the 2020 pandemic, and only continued to gain traction and fans from all over the world. Reaching out on a whim, they won over the attention of renowned producer/songwriter, Elvis Baskette, and shortly thereafter, entered the studio to record their first professionally made, full length album, Street Magic, in 2021. This release proved to be a monumental success, skyrocketing their audience with over 5 million views and streams across all platforms. Radio singles from this release alone include "For the Record," "Despicable," "Repeat Offender," "Can’t Quench the Fire," and "Only Human."

Paralandra have since toured the country on multiple headlining runs, and is constantly supporting iconic bands such as Warrant, Lita Ford, Firehouse, Last in Line, and countless others with no end in sight. They re-entered the studio with Elvis Baskette in 2023 and recorded their second studio album, which is due April 4. They plan for this release to be just as big, if not bigger than the last, as they continue to record, write, tour, and work tirelessly to build their brand, and change the direction of rock music to be a force for good in this world.

Kenny's BORN Tour Edition; Life-Grabbing Grat "Just To Say We Did"

When Kenny Chesney started gearing up for his first new music in almost four years, the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar wanted to create a project that distilled all the facets of who he is musically. While making the final decisions about what tracks will make the cut, he realized what he does and shares with No Shoes Nation live is as much a piece of his music as anything.

“We decided to do something a little unorthodox, because as I’ve said with my live albums, there is no sweeter sound than hearing No Shoes Nation singing my songs,” Chesney offers. “We are going to create a special Tour Edition of BORN, which will have a few select cuts from 2018 before the world changed, in addition to the album that everyone else will be able to stream or buy in all the usual spaces.”

When BORN hits the streets on its March 29 street date, it will offer much of what’s made Chesney such a singular artist by drawing on high energy, good times, ruminations, ballads and truly unusual songs. But for fans who have bought tickets to this summer’s concerts, as well as members of Chesney’s fan club, there will be an email with a link to purchase BORN with three extra tracks.

There’s the high octane “Living In Fast Forward” recorded at Chesney’s record-setting Nashville Nissan Stadium show. In addition, the digital-only release includes two songs from Chicago’s Soldier Field: “Get Along” and the CMA Award-winning David Lee Murphy duet “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”

The only country artist on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last 15 years, the man the Wall Street Journal called “The King of the Road” brings the feel good and excitement of his stadium shows to his upcoming album. As he explains, “Those songs say so much about who we are, how we try to live and see the world. If I were going to put three songs that match up with everything that’s going to be on this album, these three tracks would be the ones. The road band was smoking, No Shoes Nation was all in – and those songs say so much.”

As “Take Her Home,” the lead track that celebrates taking a risk and finding your life, crests the Top 20, there’s plenty more good music to come. “Just To Say We Did” is another taste of the album. Savory and smart, the percolating midtempo leans in to that embrace-the-moment, take-the-chance reality that’s defined No Shoes Nation.

“What can I say? ‘Just To Say We Did’ sounds like me and my friends growing up, and so many people I’ve met along the way,” Chesney says. “It’s a song where whatever it is, why not? Get out there and live, shoot your shot, do that bucket list thing – just to say you did. When you can boil down how to create real joy into three minutes that feels this good, I want to sing that song.

“And I think this summer when we’re out on the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour, ‘Just To Say We Did’ is a lot of the energy we live on. Not just my road family, but all those crazy, awesome folks pulling up and tailgating out in the parking lots where No Shoes Nation comes to life every weekend. We picked this song as the next grat track for them, too.”

Anyone who has already purchased tickets to the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour will receive an email with a link to purchase the special BORN Tour Edition with the extra live tracks, as will people buying tickets going forward. Top tier fan club members will also receive the link to purchase the Tour Edition to recognize their longstanding passion for Chesney, the music and No Shoes Nation.

Banks Arcade Release New EP "Death 2" Tomorrow + Share NSFW "Roulette" Video

BANKS ARCADE RELEASE NEW EP DEATH 2 TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 2 — LISTEN

BAND SHARES NSFW VIDEO FOR "ROULETTE"

The darkest chapter to date for Melbourne's Banks Arcade arrives in full tomorrow in the form of the multifaceted chaos lying in wait on the brand new EP DEATH 2, officially out now via UNFD. Get it here.

Today, the band has released the music video for new single, "Roulette," bringing riotous bounce and dark temptation to the surface.

"Roulette explores the allure of a life chasing thrills," the band shares. "It's a conversation with the devil on your shoulder asking you to risk it all for the next rush."

Watch the "Roulette" video Below;

Devouring and detailing death and disarray alongside vivid metaphors surrounding change, DEATH 2 weaves elements of hip hop, hard rock, industrial, metal and more alongside volatile soundscapes and shattering intimacy. For a band already well-versed in pushing genre boundaries in the heavier realms, Banks Arcade transcend into a whole new era via DEATH 2; and it's an era to watch closely as they gaze into a massive year ahead.

Recently flexing their nuanced creative muscles, with the glossy darkness of "Change" and hip-hop-soaked heaviness with "Worship The Internet," DEATH 2 doesn't simply build on the previously-established Banks Arcade trademark sound; rather, it catapults the band's heady blend of hard rock, electronic and metal into an entirely new sonic stratosphere, with six tracks lying in wait to dazzle.

"DEATH 2 expresses the darkest side of Banks Arcade," the band states about the EP. "It’s the heaviest this band will ever venture and it explores the most chaotic elements from the different genres we enjoy. With each song exploring death and disorder in a different way, it paints a visceral picture that is symbolic of change and the shedding of the bands previous self."

Banks Arcade bring passion and potent execution to their myriad of influences and creative ideas. Formed over a shared love of music with a razor-sharp avant-garde aesthetic, Banks Arcade have had their gaze ever-fixed just beyond the horizon via their flourishing sonic wiles. From their 2018 debut EP Endnote to its 2020 follow up Fever Dreams, the group's head-turning singles like "Sick" and "Drown" have gone on to amass over a million individal streams, while their explosive single "Chosen" was chosen by Ubisoft as the official theme song of the Rainbow Six Siege Oceanic Nationals in 2022.

Releasing their full-length Future Lovers in 2022, an LP initially devised as a concept album that evolved into a vessel of personal self-discovery, Banks Arcade cemented their future-facing trademark style while also turning heads courtesy of their emphatic soundscapes, searing metal and hip-hop additions.

FOLTERKAMMER Shares Behind the Scenes Clip for the Making of the "Anno Domina" Music Video

Operatic black metal rising stars FOLTERKAMMER are now revealing a behind the scenes glimpse at the making of their latest music video for the song "Anno Domina." The song is taken from the band's sophomore full-length, 'Weibermacht,' which is due on April 19, 2024 via Century Media Records! The clip can be found below.

The original music video, which was once again directed by Folterkammer drummer Brendan McGowan, can be found at THIS LOCATION.

'Weibermacht' serves as a counterpart to the band's 2020 debut, 'Die Lederpredigt.' The new record is another searing blend of modern black metal and classical music elements, lending to its Avant Garde sound. The music itself is elevated by frontwoman and vocalist Andromeda Anarchia's dynamic vocal work as she juxtaposes her classical training as an opera singer with her hellfire screams, summoning a maelstrom of ethereal chaos. Pre-orders are now live HERE.

In addition, FOLTERKAMMER has recently announced their first ever U.S. tour! The rising powerhouse will be embarking on an East Coast headliner with support from WITCHING, which kicks off on March 22 in Baltimore and will circle back to the band's hometown of Brooklyn, NY on March 30. Founded in New York around 2018/2019, Folterkammer, or “Torture Chamber,” is the operatic black metal outfit that is redefining modern music. This ingenious band seamlessly fuses beauty with brutality. A combination of raw passion and technique contributes to the epic nature of Folterkammer’s dark art. Their work is both nostalgic and remarkably fresh. Yes, Folterkammer fuses various musical traditions and genres to craft an unparalleled experience.

Folterkammer is composed of Andromeda Anarchia on vocals, Zachary Ezrin on guitars, Darren Hanson on guitars, Laurent David on bass, and Brendan McGowan on drums. Both Anarchia, who hails from Switzerland, and David, who was born in Paris, divide their time between Europe and Brooklyn. Thus, even though the group can be described as international, Anarchia states: “It took New York to create Folterkammer.” Her project Andromeda Anarchia’s DARKMATTERS acted as the catalyst that brought her to the Big Apple, where she met Ezrin. Many metalheads already know that Anarchia has appeared as a guest on the three most recent albums by Ezrin’s brainchild Imperial Triumphant — a leading avant-garde band that marries extreme metal, jazz, classical components, etc. McGowan has also provided guest vocals for Imperial Triumphant, and Hanson lent his songwriting excellence to their 2012 instrumental track “Scaphism.”

Ezrin, McGowan, and Hanson have a wealth of shared history. These friends attended college together in California, where Hanson and Ezrin studied classical composition. Thus, much of Folterkammer’s orchestration is classically based. Hanson harbors a special love of Baroque music and knows precisely how to expertly wed it with his passion for black metal. Folterkammer was actually conceived when Ezrin proposed that Anarchia collaborate with him on some of Hanson’s material. Ezrin writes killer riffs and more for the band. McGowan was invited to join Folterkammer on Hanson’s wise suggestion. His drums are perhaps the heaviest element keeping one of Folterkammer’s limbs firmly anchored in traditional black metal. McGowan mines inspiration from different generations of acts: He names 1349 and old-school heroes like Blasphemy and Marduk. That said, black metal fans will also be pleased to hear the spirit of the second wave in the aggression of Folterkammer’s tremolo picking, for example.

The exceptionally skilled David, Folterkammer’s newest weapon, truly perfects the group with his golden touch on bass. Whereas the bass is not always as prominent as it could be in the content of many black metal groups, Folterkammer purposely allows David’s bass to shine through. Like his bandmates, David is an avid consumer of several forms of music, and thus creates delightfully eclectic art. He has received both classical and jazz training. This major talent has toured worldwide alongside musicians and bands such as Ibrahim Maalouf, Guillaume Perret & The Electric Epic, Yael Naim, and Shijin. David has done so both as a side man and as a band leader/producer. Anarchia and Ezrin already knew David before asking him to join Folterkammer. After all, David founded the “avant metal-jazz trio” Kilter of which Imperial Triumphant’s Kenny Grohowski is an essential part.

Like the rest of the team, Anarchia contributes to the songwriting process: “I write all of the vocal melodies because I wrote the lyrics. The German language itself always has a certain logic when it comes to melodies, intonation, rhythms, and how to highlight different things.” Yes, in Folterkammer, Anarchia chooses to sing in her philosophically rich native tongue, which is clearly the language of a large portion of the best operas. Anarchia confirms: “In general, as a singer and songwriter, I always try to step across the borders of styles of traditions. I try to reach out for new horizons. I love art songs. I love arias. I love complex compositions, big drama, big theatrical things, though not in a traditional way...” Anarchia compares her voice to a laboratory. She is always testing new possibilities within Folterkammer.

The visionary songstress emphasizes that she and her collaborators treat opera and the greater context of classical music, on the one hand, and black metal, on the other, with equal seriousness: “It requires a lot of work to understand the aesthetics of each world and how to combine them. Everybody is so dedicated to all of the details, and I think that makes it special. We want to build a bridge between these two very different worlds in a completely organic way.” Anarchia continues: “I’m very dedicated to the technical things. I like good solid work. I want to do the metal screams with the same dedication that I did for bel canto.”

Yes, Anarchia is a classically trained dramatic coloratura soprano with an impressive range of four octaves. She has likewise received classical piano and guitar training since the age of five. Her first performance was actually on a church organ when she was ten years old. As a vocalist, Anarchia has worked with various types of music: jazz; different styles of metal, of course; rock; soul; R&B; experimental; and free improvised music. She has even branched out into hip-hop. Folterkammer, however, has become Anarchia’s main vehicle to explore her full register and create the roles she has always wanted to play: “Folterkammer really combines everything I love about music and singing.” Listeners quickly hear that Anarchia’s voice is loud and strong yet agile. Her instrument is as lethally monstrous as it is gorgeous. Anarchia brings all of her grace, charm, savagery, and artful cunning to Folterkammer. This ruthless femme fatale resolutely delivers ethereal clean vocals, harsh vocal attacks, and spoken lines to accomplish her wicked aims.

Given Anarchia’s masterful performances, it seems hard to believe that her collaborations with Imperial Triumphant, which we mentioned above, and her current position at the helm of Folterkammer completely redirected her musical path. Anarchia reflects: “I didn’t expect that I would ever sing in an operatic style again because I tried to leave that world behind me and focused on progressive rock and cabaret instead... All of a sudden, in New York, I was pulled away from the prog rock world into this crazy world of metal jazz, avant-garde extreme metal, and the combination of so many singing styles.” Anarchia shares: “Now, I’m more intrigued by opera than ever.”

Because of their top-notch artistry, Folterkammer has won over many fans, even from within the opera community. For instance, William Berger — an author, lecturer, producer, radio broadcaster, and commentator for the Metropolitan Opera — would become a supporter of the band. He told Woman Around Town: “Andromeda can go between both classical and growling, and dialogue. She’s amazing.” As a result of the progress that Anarchia has made in New York, exciting developments are now underway. After Anarchia expressed the idea that an opera should be composed for metal scream vocalists during a conversation with Laurent David, Kilter wrote La Suspendida. This brave new opera challenges Anarchia to blend different vocal styles as a soloist. La Suspendida focuses on a self-confident female protagonist and is based on a true and very dramatic story about necrophilia. It will premiere in Paris on November 16. Thanks to Anarchia’s recommendation, Berger wrote the libretto for La Suspendida.

Folterkammer’s debut, Die Lederpredigt, or “The Leather Sermon,” unleashed its glorious wrath in 2020. This intoxicating album was influenced by composers like Johann Sebastian Bach and Richard Wagner. Due to the challenges imposed by Covid-19, Folterkammer’s members recorded their contributions separately. Nevertheless, this December offering quickly earned much critical acclaim from the extreme music world. For example, Matt Bacon of Metal Injectionnamed Die Lederpredigt one of his top albums of 2020. Bacon penned: “This is maybe the most technically impressive black metal album of the year.”

Die Lederpredigt stands as a monumental act of rebellion against religion, institutions of authority, blind faith, and so forth. The blasphemous components of this scorcher are heightened by chants implemented in the service of the collective’s overall irreligious purposes. Anarchia decided to narrate Die Lederpredigt from the point of view of a malevolent goddess, who strives to inflict an enormous amount of pain and suffering. In doing so, Anarchia sought to combat the concept of women as nurturers and expose their true fangs, talons, and bloodlust. Anarchia elaborates:

“The album portrays a vicious goddess, a very evil, bad dom. She’s like a devil, but she’s a female power goddess… I didn’t want to write about typical Satanist themes. We don’t have to talk about demons and Satan all the time. These topics have already been covered in a great way many times. Sadly, there are enough real creatures in the world that are really bad. We often portray women as the good and protective ones, but there are also women who are not like this at all. I didn’t want to write about a Maria figure, the holy prototype, good mother kind of person. I wanted to write about a very abusive mother-type goddess.”

This is in keeping with Anarchia’s constant quest to portray strong, often complex, and challenging female characters and empower her audience:

“First and foremost, I always want to create a powerful, crafting, and cunning female character, whether it’s a goddess, a witch, or whatever. Because, for me, as a woman in this world, creating music is also always a feminist statement. I always try to find allies among women and men who are committed to women having (at least) equal rights (or even more)... With the songs of Folterkammer, I would like to encourage all people who identify as women to celebrate our feminine side. I want to use my voice to portray and support women being strong and also to embrace everything that being a woman means — not just the pretty woman with the cute voice and the nice dress, but everything you can imagine. A woman can be everything. I also see that from a singing perspective. I think that a singer can sing everything. In addition, I also want to celebrate men who give themselves to a woman devotedly, submissively, and in trust.”

Folterkammer is currently preparing to unveil their victorious second full-length record, the formidable Weibermacht, which Anarchia translates as “Bitch Power.” Weibermacht is Laurent David’s first effort with Folterkammer. With David’s arrival, Darren Hanson switched from the Bass VI to guitars. On the opening track, “Anno Domina,” Imperial Triumphant’s Steve Blanco lent his expertise on harpsichord as a special guest. Weibermacht is sophisticated; criminally pleasurable; and, despite the chaos it births, beautifully balanced. This groundbreaking gem immediately astonishes listeners with its toxic confidence and superb instrumentation. Brendan McGowan, for example, tells us: “I tried to incorporate war-march effects. I wanted the drums to sound really violent in contrast to the really sweeping classical melodies because Andromeda’s lyrics are so violent. So, I wanted the drums to kind of reflect that.” Meanwhile, Zachary Ezrin and Hanson found muses in the likes of the Baroque composer Henry Purcell.

With her enthusiasm for opera reignited, as noted, Anarchia delved back into her studies of this art form during the pandemic. Thus, Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Strauss inspired her vocal lines for Weibermacht. Anarchia was likewise influenced by Joan Sutherland, the eccentric Nina Hagen, and even the Judas Priest legend Rob Halford. On Weibermacht, Anarchia’s vocal gymnastics remain as sublime as ever. Yet again, her soaring highs, inhuman shrieks, barbarous growls, and so forth induce vertigo. Anarchia hits all of her targets with a sniper’s precision.

Folterkammer’s ambitions here seem quite lofty. All the same, Folterkammer commands audiences to get down on their knees and indulge in the ritual of foot worship in all of its symbolic meaning. Indeed, this brilliant feminist triumph threatens to crush victims under the weight of its pointed stilettos. Folterkammer’s refined poetic lyrics provide much intellectual stimulation while awakening S&M fantasies. The group certainly makes good on their promise: “Wir geben Dir Schmerz!” / “We give you pain.” The grandiose ode to Schadenfreude that is Weibermacht treats willing participants to swordplay and poetry of the whip. In fact, on “Anno Domina,” we hear the cracking of a whip. Yes, throughout this titillating record, Anarchia perfectly plays “Die Göttin, die Mistress, die Domina” / “the goddess, the mistress, the dominatrix.”

The irresistible “Die Unterwerfung,” or “The Submission,” draws from the cautionary tale of the seductress Phyllis and Aristotle. For this track, Anarchia modified the first line from the German song “Frauen sind keine Engel.” She also paraphrased part of the old nursery rhyme “Hoppe Hoppe, Reiter.” In “Algolagnia,” you can hear Anarchia adapt small portions of text from Richard Strauss’ Elektra and Franz von Suppé’s Die schöne Galathee. “Herrin der Schwerter,” or “Mistress of Swords,” serves as a homage to the fabled opera singer and personality Julie d’Aubigny, who was immortalized by the likes of writer Théophile Gautier. One of Anarchia’s singing students, Vincent Van Inferno, actually came up with an expression that she uses in this song. Anarchia chose to end Weibermacht with an English-language number, a bewitching cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs,” a nod to the great Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.

As we already explained, Anarchia morphed into an evil goddess on Die Lederpredigt. One might think that she would have done the same on Weibermacht. However, in order to conquer new territories, Anarchia invented a thrilling new role for herself:

“I still wanted to portray a strong female character, but this time I wanted her to be a good dom, not abusive but responsible. I wanted her to be someone who enjoys, celebrates, and really takes pleasure in men being submissive. She lives for that. She expresses that. She is a playful character, but who knows what she is and what she wants?! I wanted to have a more positive or constructive kind of woman portrayed this time. But, of course, she’s still a dominatrix, you know?! It’s all about pain and kinky things and being in a dominant position as a woman, but the character is a different one. It’s a new story. Yes, I used the time during Covid to come up with that idea. I trained with a pro dominatrix, who is based in London, to really embody the persona and to understand it more before I started writing lyrics. I read tons of books and articles and interviews and watched a lot of material with dominatrixes. I delved into mythology to see where strong women, and even dominatrix kind of women, have been portrayed in oral tradition, literature, paintings, music... I researched stories from the 10th and 12th centuries, ancient Greek mythology, etc. There were so many different stories already. We always think that BDSM is a modern phenomenon, but it traces back much longer.”

Despite Folterkammer’s crushing intensity, it is also of crucial importance to Anarchia to preserve an element of fun, as one can assume from the quote above. She confesses: “I love when something has comedy, when it’s naughty and sassy and witty. That’s also a part of Folterkammer — it takes a lot of humor to combine opera with black metal because they are very much on the opposite ends of the spectrum.”

Thankfully, Weibermacht’s flawless production ensures that listeners will be able to experience all of the nuances of Folterkammer’s complicated work. Zachary Ezrin is credited as Weibermacht’s producer. Much of Weibermacht was recorded in New Jersey at Backroom Studios, which is owned by Kevin Antreassian, a former member of The Dillinger Escape Plan. Additional recording was carried out by Laurent David and Antoine Delecroix. Krallice and Gorgut’s esteemed Colin Marston — a prolific musician, producer, and staple of the New York music scene — mixed Weibermacht. Fred Kevorkian, who has collaborated with the likes of Dream Theater, handled mastering.

The famed Eliran Kantor is responsible for Weibermacht’s cover art. Kantor has been enlisted by everyone from My Dying Bride to Sigh. Along similar lines, Folterkammer's videos are all directed by Brendan McGowan and produced by Vile Luxe Entertainment. As a filmmaker, the highly accomplished McGowan has joined forces with powerhouses, such as Ghost, Mastodon, Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, Frozen Soul, Imperial Triumphant, and many others. Thus, he brings incredible professionalism and clarity of vision to Folterkammer in this regard as a bonus.

McGowan particularly enjoys incorporating Folterkammer’s juxtaposition of modern and classical components into his videos. He looks forward to continuing to translate the magnificent imagery present in Anarchia’s lyrics into visual art. Indeed, in addition to its theatricality, Folterkammer has a splendid cinematic quality. Fortunately, McGowan and the rest of the Folterkammer team already have new surprises planned.

Necrowretch Streaming New Album

Ten years ago, Necrowretch emerged with the revival of old school death metal. But these French sorcerers have always been branded with the mark of the beast. After pushing their death drive to the extreme on their first album for Season of Mist, the band are back and ready to release their biggest, boldest, most sophisticated and blackest album yet.

Swords of Dajjal comes out this Friday. But you can hear the whole album now by listening to the full album stream.

Listen: Below

Swords of Dajjal is out February 2, 2024.

Pre-order: https://redirect.season-of-mist.com/NecrowretchSwords

Pre-save: https://orcd.co/necrowretchswordsofdajjal

Swords of Dajjal still lays the hammer. Lead single "Numidian Knowledge" churns through a corpse-grinding riff while beating you over the head with non-stop fills from new drummer Nicolas Destroyer. But even though their previous albums were devoted to Satan, this time around, Necrowretch sold their whole soul to the devil. Heck, this album isn't just named after the Islamic Antichrist. That's Dajjal on the cover, staring back at you with those cutting, soulless eyes.

"Ave Ingirozoglezim" Vlad erupts on "Dii Mauri", conjuring riffs that churn and whip with the fury of a sandstorm.

Clearly, Necrowretch still play blindingly fast. But Swords of Dajjal is just as deadly when shifted into a more brooding gear. Where the band used to spend only a few days in the recording studio, they spent three years on this album, sharpening everything from Vlad's signature shriek all the way down to the guitar tones. A molten crunch of reverb opens a fiery pit to hell on "Kasar Al-Kufar", which erupts into a solo that's so memorable, it'll haunt your nightmares.

Vae Victis !

"Debout les morts!" Necrowretch says. "Today marks the release of Swords of Dajjal, our blackest opus to date. It took us many years to craft this unholy manifest, but it will take only seconds to bring you eternal doom ! Listen to it at full volume, stream, share, get it from your local death dealer and enjoy every damn part before you rot in Hell!

Praise for Necrowretch

"Dynamic blackened death metal...embraces melody and blends it with pure savagery" - Teeth of the Divine

"A raw, primitive and relentless sound with absolutely manical percussion and possessed singer Vlad's beastial screams" - Kerrang!

"They charge blastbeats and hurl guitars and the kitchen sink at listeners, and that is almost always certain to attract fans of kvtl metal" - Echoes and Dust

"Speedy, razor-sharp display of blackened death metal mayhem that is as entertaining on a tenth listen as it is on the first" - Heavy Blog is Heavy.

"Filled with enough hate, putrefaction and sorrow to fill a deep inferno of black, deathly abyss" - V13

"They approach their ghoulish task with considerably more gusto (and know-how) than many of their peers" - Pitchfork

Now entering their fifteenth year as a band, France’s Necrowretchare about to open the most ambitious chapter of their career with Swords Of Dajjal, their three-years-in-the-making fifth album.

Initially the sole work of multi-instrument and vision leader Vlad, the band was - for better and for worse - lumped in the ‘old school deathmetal revival’ of the early 10’s. Yet while their debut Putrid Death Sorcery did indeed  bear all the usual suspects of said genre, it nevertheless already had that extra, raw-as-fuck and just plain vicious element that really set them apart from the rest of the pack. Conforming to the norm was never in question and instead of selling out or trying to slow things down, as true misfits as they are, they went the exact opposite direction, first with 2015’sWith Serpents Scourge, only to be vigorously confirmed by its furiousfollow-up, and their first for Season Of Mist, 2017’s Satanic Slavery. To the point where once the touring cycle was over for the latter, Vlad himself felt he had explored this direction as far as he could have and that changes were on the horizon.

“On Satanic Slavery we on purpose took things as far as we could, as our goal was to deliver the most bestial album possible. But once we achieved that goal, I knew we had to take a slightly different if still as uncompromised direction.” Incidentally, that’s when Wenceslas Carrieu from Cadaveric FUMES entered the picture, first as a momentary live session on bass. But when second stringer Kev Desecrator vowed to amicably part way with the band to focus on DESTRÖYER 666, he switched to six-strings and proved to be the valuable songwriting partner Vlad had been looking for since thedeparture of the band original bass player Amphycion in 2015. “Heimmediately came up with lots of ideas and thanks to him, we now have a whole new dynamic: a bit like Sepultura had back in the days in between Max Cavalera and Andreas Kisser, with me focusing now on my vocals and playing rhythm guitars while Wenceslas takes care of all the solos, the starting riffs and the off-the-map bits.

With their fourth album, and first with Wencelas, The Ones From Hell was only one month old when Necrowretch was about to tour Europe with both Kampfar and Taake for three weeks. A tour bus was booked, the set was well-rehearsed, everything was ready and then... disaster struck. “Six days before we were due to play our first show, the whole thing was cancelled. Then COVID hit us and the world was basically shut down. We were numbfor a couple of days but soon realized that the best way to bounce back was to move forward so we instantly started working on new songs.” The result is Swords Of Dajjal by far, their biggest, boldest and most ambitious production ever.

“We spent no less than three years working on the songs, demoeing them and fine-tuning the details and rehearsing them as a three-piece and six weeks in the studio with Francis Caste (Hangman's Chair, REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER, Svart Crown etc.). Prior to that, we used to be a pure product of the underground, with albums done in just a couple of days whom were never 100% satisfied with in the end as we had to rush everything. We’re still very underground, mind you. But this time around, we knew we had to give it all, no matter what. So we started by changing our gear, our sound and our tuning. And once we entered the studio, we forinstance spent a whole day just testing different amps just to get the right sound and crunch we were looking for. I even took some singing lessons to gain more depth and power. In a way, it almost feels like a whole new band.”

The whole record was written on purpose mostly on acoustic twelve-string guitars (“the idea was that if it sounds good and catchy that way, it’d be even better with distortion”) and as a three-piece, “something we hadn’t done in a long time” with their new drummer Nicolas Ferrero, not exactly a newcomer as he’s been playing on and off live with them since 2018. The result is, according to Vlad, “our most black metal record, with splashes of death metal here and there. Whereas on the previous album all tempos were pushed to the extreme, there’s far more variety here to be found. It also gave us free reins to reach a more mystical, Biblical if you will vibe” fed by his experience living in Turkey in the late 10’s. “We choose to focus onthe Dajjal character, basically the antichrist in the Muslim religion. The Coran says that he’ll appear as a false prophet only to bring doom to this world, with an army of demons coming from the east.” Represented on the cover of the album with his double edged sword and bathed in the same kind of reddish and orangey mesmerizing lights one can experience when the sun sets on wind-beaten deserts, all eight songs on the album are prophecies, past and future, where Dajjal plays the leading role.

Now completed on bass by R. Cadaver (former Cadaveric Fumes vocalist) who officially joined once the recording was done after playing as a live session member for the last two years, and armed with their biggest, most complex and intense album of their career, Necrowretch are about to yield their sword of destruction and exterminate everything in sight.

Ray Hawthorne Drops "EMERGENCY" Ft Kellin Quinn & Announces Debut EP "Heartbreak Feels Good In A Place Like This"

Known for his work in North Kingsley with Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down, Ray Hawthorne has officially made his solo debut as the Heartbreak Hero with his latest EP announcement - "Heartbreak Feels Good in a Place Like This" available on February 14, 2024. Fans can pre-save the upcoming EP HERE.

Accompanying the announcement of his debut EP is his first single, "EMERGENCY", which serves as a poignant reflection of Hawthorne's journey battling sobriety, delving into the internal struggles and personal demons he faces daily. Joining forces with none other than the acclaimed Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, the track sees both emo mavericks intertwine their soul-stirring melodies and haunting lyrics to resonate with raw emotion and showcase their unrivaled authenticity.

Speaking on today's single release, Ray Hawthorne shares:

"Emergency is the culmination of almost 7 years of struggling to maintain my sobriety. There truly is a monster in my cupboard, and a hell inside my head that I have to battle with daily. I’m pumped to be able to include Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens on this song that has such a deep meaning to me. He was able to take the theme of the song and bring it to a higher level, plus the dude is just talented as hell, right? Right."

Lifting the curtain behind the EP announcement, Hawthorne continues:

"The day I have waited so long for is finally here! Everyone (whoever that may be) can listen to my silly emo punky songs. There's a bit of fun on this one, and a bit of a serious undertone as well, but most importantly it’s the kind of music I’ve always wanted to make. My 14 year old self would love this EP, and that's a win in my book. After years of working side by side and recording with so many musicians I grew up listening to and admiring, I’m finally able to step out and make something that’s my own. And that’s kinda cool. Just saying. Next up, I’m gonna invade Ryan Gosling’s life, Saltburn style."

As "EMERGENCY" paves the way, its evident that Ray Hawthorne's debut EP, "Heartbreak Feels Good in a Place Like This" is an exploration of the human experience through the lens of a talented and fearless artist. His authenticity shines in his latest single, as he proves to be an emotional architect, constructing a musical landscape where vulnerability and strength coexist harmoniously. The upcoming EP promises to be a mosaic of sentiments, each track unveiling a different facet of Hawthorne that hasn't been seen in any of his previous projects.

Celebrated for his work as the vocalist of North Kingsley, alongside metal heavyweight Shavo Odadjian, his solo endeavor marks a genre-defying sound that seamlessly weaves elements of pop punk, emo, and alternative rock. Building on the success of North Kingsley, where he has garnered over 2 million Spotify streams, his new solo venture is eagerly anticipated as he fuses genres to further push creative boundaries. As he returns to the spotlight with this chapter, Ray Hawthorne is making the most of his distinctive voice and emotional lyricism, all while becoming everyone's favorite Heartbreak Hero.

Be sure to to stay tuned for more new music from Ray Hawthorne coming very soon.

ABOUT RAY HAWTHORNE

DON’T PANIC! As an eternal emo kid from New Jersey, Ray Hawthorne’s vocal stylings have already amassed millions of streams with his project North Kingsley. Alongside Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down, and Saro from the Apple Store, Ray has collaborated with the likes of RZA, Cypress Hill, Scott Storch and more. Having released music in many different genres, Ray is finally stepping into a style of music he’s always loved, scene shit from high school. That’s right. Get your eyeliner and gauges ready, because he’ll 2-Step his way into your broken heart.

Ponte Del Diavolo Draw Deep Into the Void on New Single

Ponte Del Diavolo are blessed with a taste for the dark arts. These Italians weld doom and black metal into a sleek but towering force that's just as cruel as the infamously steep bridge that medieval peasants has to cross on the way to their home country.

The band teased then danced with the devil on their previous twosingles. Today, they're pulling back the curtain on the more depraved part of their aesthetic.

Watch the bloody and burbling visualizer for "Nocturnal Veil", which was created by Daniele Brancaccio: BELOW

Fire Blades From The Tomb is out February 16, 2024.

"Nocturnal Veil" billows with gloomy clarinet. But the band's new single really shows off their bad side. Cymbals clank like chains through a pitch-black dungeon, while the riffs crack with the patient speed of a whip or the pointed finger of a siren.

"Everything is nothing", Erba Del Diavolo chants, calling you into the void. Her croon is bewitching, beguiling and all-too-inviting.

"Let yourself be carried away by a dark mantra that brings with it images of annihilation", says Ponte Del Diavolo. "Immensity overwhelms us, we are null".

Early praise for Ponte Del Diavolo

"
A rhythm section that sounds like thundering hooves; music that dangerously rings and swirls, like fleeing from something fatal" - No Clean Singing

"What strikes me most about the album is the sheer genre bending ability of this band. One minute, you think that you are listening to Doom Metal, and then turn the screw and another sound materializes" - Metal Temple

PONTE DEL DIAVOLO bridges the gap between two separate worlds.

The Italian band proposes a Doom / Black metal sound with old-school roots, adding a modern and outside the box background. The female voice - with strong dark wave influences - is the lyric corpus of this strongly esoteric project. The solid presence of two bassists creates the massive foundation for the rhythmic guitar, everything marked by a raw and dynamic drumming.

Mystery of Mystery / Secret Live Session marked the quintet’s debut EP. It was recorded live and without editing at Dracma Studio with the producer L’Ossario in their home base of Turin in March 2020. "I" was released on the web by Iopan Records. It was soon followed by their second single, "The Wickedest Woman In the World".

At the end of 2021, Ponte Del Diavolo recorded their second EP, Sancta Menstruis at Deepest Sea Studio in Turin with Danilo Battocchio. The first single,  "The Unborn", arrived in February 2022.

The band's third EP, Ave Scintilla!, was also recorded in Turin. This time around, they reconvened at Dracma Studio with L'Ossario.

Now that they've signed with Season of Mist, Ponte Del Diavolo are ready to release their debut album. Fire Blades From the Tomb  forges classic, cultish doom metal with modern bents of post-punk. Lead single and opening track “Demone” is whipped along by a boiled black bass line and dark-wave induced vocals.

Prepare to cross over into the Italian dark arts.

Darkspace channel something dark and mysterious on their new album. Dark Space -II  loosely deviates from their previous interstellar journeys while traveling even deeper inside their psychedelic portal of atmospheric spatial black metal.

The mysterious trio have been teasing Dark Space -II since the end of last year. Today, they're revealing the third and final snippet of their new 47-minute excursion, which is bound to transport you into yet another chilling alternate dimension.

Season of Mist reissued all of Darkspace's catalogue on CD and vinyl this year. Listen from Dark Space -I to Dark Space III I and hear how their hypnotic and otherworldly sound has influenced modern black metal.

Praise for Darkspace

"There's no shortage of sounds that will cause your jaw to drop" - Angry Metal Guy

"One of the most daring and underrated names in black metal" - Pitchfork

"Dark and profound, you feel the sensation of falling, the impression of sinking into the depths of space - it's scary but it's awesome to be able to transcend yourself with this kind of sound" - CVLT Nation

"You can vividly imagine them coming from some weird alternate universe to enslave the listener" - Echoes and Dust

"A trip with no return, into the depths of the hostile and void universe and to the blackest place where no light escapes" - Rock n' Heavy

DARKSPACE was founded by Wroth, Zorgh and Zhaaral in 1999 in Berne (Switzerland). In two decades four albums and an EP were released: Dark Space -I to Dark Space III I. The band rarely appeared live. In 2019 Zorgh quit while the band was awarded the Music Prize of the Canton of Berne for the creation of their soundscapes and their atmospheric performances. In 2022 Yhs joined Wroth and Zhaaral to complete the three again. Far on the horizon outlines of a new release are emerging.

Hungover Drop New Single "Out of Body"

NEW ALBUM WHEN IT TOUCHES THE HEART, EVERYTHING RESOLVES OUT FEBRUARY 23 VIA SMARTPUNK RECORDS. AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER HERE.

Orlando, FL-based pop-rock band Hungover has shared the third single from their upcoming album, which will feature eight unheard tracks.

"Out of Body" follows the release of "Shake It Off."

"Dodging texts, task paralysis, and avoidance can sever relationships you never meant to. Sometimes that means neglecting the people you love most. I knew I needed help, but feeling like a burden to the people who surrounded me made me think I needed to push them away. When I got better, I had to mend certain relationships and that wasn’t easy. In some cases, there were things I couldn't fix so I had to seek the closure that I forced people to find themselves," vocalist Marc Cortes says. "'Out of Body' takes on the idea that sometimes a 'coming of age' moment can mean realizing that you were wrong/have failed and that's okay!"

Hungover is the product of the ashes of other bands and the years its members — Marc Cortes, Sean Connors, and Gabe Santiago  spent together in the Orlando music scene. It's there that Hungover cut their teeth in small, packed clubs and bars, carefully honing their penchant for energetic, impactful, and wildly pop-sensible guitar rock. In the studio, Hungover learned to push the envelope and sharpen WILT's five songs with the help of producer and engineer Alan Reitman. After self-releasing WILT to underground acclaim, Hungover chose to team up with Smartpunk Records to release the EP on vinyl with three brand new, unreleased songs mastered by Alan Douches (Real Friends, Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die). Three's Company, Exit: Stage Left, and Sleep Alone all effortlessly exhibit the same vigor, cleverness, and raw emotion of the five songs that preceded them, but capture the experience and know-how of a band at their peak.

Hungover as a whole is a helium, their dynamic sound inflating any room they inhabit. A bar becomes a hall, a club becomes a theatre, and so on; and it's no accident either. By allowing themselves to be molded by the rooms they've played, Hungover is in turn able to mold those rooms themselves. It's this awareness that instills WILT with the exact same sensation; that urgent push from the inside of the chest and the awareness that the moment is somehow bigger than the seconds it exists in. That indefinable something.

ABOUT SMARTPUNK RECORDS:
Smartpunk has been a recognizable name in the scene for a long time (Remember that sponsored Warped Tour stage?!). After exchanging several hands and countless ideas of what it could and should be, they decided to start a record label in 2016 with the main idea of focusing solely on reissuing records that have been out of print or never on vinyl. After all, they're a label of vinyl dorks themselves! After releasing Set Your Goals' Mutiny and Gameface's Good, they started to venture into signing newer bands. They actively balance in between many worlds — putting out amazing music from friends and bands that rock, reissuing older titles, and partnering with other incredible labels in our scene and doing exclusive color variants of their releases.

"Since forming the record label, Smartpunk Records has released timeless albums such as Less Than Jake's Anthem, Nominee's Lowlife, RIVALS' Sad Looks Pretty on Me, Virginity's POPMORTEM, and melodic skate punkers The Swellers' My Everest.

Chicago-based rocker LEON FREAR presents 'A Morning House', final single ahead of his debut 'Wild Rice' album

"Frear has a voice which somewhat recalls Marty Willson-Piper of The Church fame and his side project Nocturum... This is something for fans of Nick Cave and related"~ Side-Line Magazine

"Track of the Day. The way he tells the story makes it seem like he and the listener are commiserating together... a song with a great story" ~ Chasing Destino

"With a unmistakeable voice deserving of becoming a regular fixture in the mind-memory of music lovers everywhere... catchy and contemplative, showcasing clever lyrics channeled through his smooth and deep timbre.  fabulous from start to end and is obviously confessional while also being an invested labor of love" ~ Rock n Roll Biz

"The combination of evocative lyrics and a dynamic musical backdrop creates an immersive experience, inviting listeners to delve into the complexities of love, longing, and self-discovery" ~ Skylight Webzine

Chicago-based rocker/ songwriter Leon Frear presents 'A Morning House', a song about regret and hope previewing his debut album 'Wild Rice'. His first album under this moniker, this represents a new start since relocating from his home town of Chapel, North Carolina.

The new single follows 'A Town Called Chapel', which Frear describes as “a poison pen love letter to an historically musical time and place, to big blown-up plans and irreplaceable, lost relationships", and Frear's debut single 'Secret Second Moon'with a fantastic animated video by French artist Ronald Grandpey.

This powerful album reflects a dramatic period in which Frear experienced a life-altering love affair, its implosion and aftermath, followed by a decade of reflection and changes. Informed by his own experience, Frear's music speaks of love, lust, broken promises, miscommunication, and incinerated bridges. This 10-track collection sees Frear playing every instrument and capturing every breath to tape during a recording process that took years to complete.

"When I first got to Chicago, I had been living alone in one of those long term stay motels. You know the type. Half a kitchen in your room, maybe a few coin-op laundry machines in the lobby. Lots of activity in the parking lot at all hours. Coyotes... I had been living there for a few years, really just trying to survive and get sober. Even though I had a few songs partially written, I wasn't sure if I would ever record or release music again," says Leon Frear.

"But one night I had this dream that I was in a bright green field of grass, with a white house in the background, gleaming on the top of a hill, with rows of chairs arranged on the lawn. There was a crowd and I was seated in one of the chairs. There was a small stage set up and a man with curly hair was playing guitar and singing. Even though he didn't look like me or sound like me, I understood that he represented me, some part of me or maybe a different version of me. Maybe I was imagining what could have been, or feeling regret for what I had lost. I don't know. But in the dream, this man and his band were playing a song. And A Morning House is the song I heard in my dream that night."

He adds: "It's about feeling regret for things that you've done. Maybe bad things. But even more than that it's a song about the strong feelings of regret you feel for the things that you haven't done. All of those missed opportunities. Unhad adventures. Unexplored romances. But for me, having that dream, it felt like an extraordinary thing had occurred. In the end, that helped me find my motivation again. When I was finally able to put myself together enough to leave that place, find a real home and start putting a studio together, A Morning House is the first song I completed."

Laced with hints of sadness and regret, anger and remorse, the lyrics are tempered with sardonic wit that leaves the listener wondering if Frear doesn’t secretly savor feeling bad. If there’s an opportunity to mock an uncaring universe, this is an opportunity Frear doesn’t let go to waste.

Dubbing his brand of post-alternative music “vocabulary rock”, Frear aims to shift the emphasis away from the man and towards the music and lyrics, while inviting the listener to commiserate together through this exploration of grief, depression and sadness.

As of January 30, 'A Morning House' is available from fine music platforms, including SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp.  The 'Wild Rice' album will be released (on vinyl and digitally) on March 1.

Dalton Dover Readies 'Take Me Home: Covers' Collection for February 9

Growing up in Polk County, Georgia, Dalton Dover is no stranger to rural origins. His love of country music was sparked by his grandfather, who introduced him to a wellspring of artists that traversed decades of tradition. With Take Me Home: Covers, set for release February 9 via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records, Dover is paying homage to his roots and saluting some of the songs that first enamored him to the genre. Pre-save HERE.

“I grew up in a musical family, where we’d sing at church and then go home and keep singing,” reveals Dover. “My grandpa would put on his favorite records, and I’d listen to the stories. Seeing my own life in those lyrics is what made me fall in love with country music, and I can’t think of a better way to honor that than sharing these songs.”

Although the full track list is yet to be revealed, Dover recently released a rendition of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” earning MusicRow’s “Disc of the Day” and praising, “He remains one of our finest young country voices. Think again, if you think you’ve heard this oldie often enough. Dover’s slowed-down, gentle, caressing, thoughtful reading of the lyric brings a whole new dimension to the song. This man has the goods. A loud, “Amen” from this corner.”

Wide Open Country observes, “By singing one we all know, Dover drew attention to his smooth twang and his innate ability to make us feel the emotions packed in every line,” calling him “one of the more captivating young artists to sign a big-label deal in recent memory.”

After honing his live show with festival dates and supporting acts such as Luke Combs, Tyler Hubbard, Sam Hunt, Parker McCollum, Justin Moore and Chase Rice, Dover is gearing up to embark on his first headlining club tour with his Never Giving Up On That Tour, kicking off Feb. 23 among dates on Larry Fleet’s The Earned It Tour. Tickets are on sale now at DaltonDoverOfficial.com.

Dover is signed with United Talent Agency for worldwide booking representation in all areas, along with Sony Music Publishing Nashville in partnership with Droptine Music Publishing. For more information, visit DaltonDoverOfficial.com or follow along on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook.

Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, he will embark on his headlining Never Giving Up On That Tour in early 2024. Dover made his Grand Ole Opry debut in December 2022, followed by his international debut in 2023 at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour. This summer, Dover performed across four stages at CMA Fest, including the Nissan Stadium Platform stage and played Luke Combs’ Whiskey Jam Bootleggers Tailgate Party at Gillette Stadium in July. By the age of 16, Dover had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R veteran and founder of Droptine, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover. His debut track “You Got a Small Town,” produced by McV, quickly garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, MusicRow, Country Now and Wide Open Country. With his debut and his follow-up “Baby I Am” earning notable playlisting, Dover was named a Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch along with a spotlight as Billboard’s February Country Rookie of the Month and a nod for MusicRow’s 2022 Discovery Artist of the Year. ABOUT BY THE THOUSANDS

By the Thousands is a progressive metalcore band hailing from the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Their sound is a fusion of relentless groove, infectious breakdowns, melodic solos, and powerful harsh vocals. It is the perfect blend of the aggressive, hard-hitting technical metal that the Midwest is known for.

BTT released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, and followed it up with their 2015 full-length album, “Connect.” Soon they released their highly anticipated second full-length album “Visions of Inner Depth,” in 2018. During this time they landed opening slots on tours with bands such as Reflections and Oceano. Then at the cusp of the pandemic they dropped “Dead Matter” on Modern Empire Records, their most ambitious effort to date. Their forthcoming EP is a step in an even darker, much heavier direction. Their current sound is more cohesive than before.

KORPIKLAANI - Release Video For Brand New Single 'Saunaan' + Pre-order For New Album "Rankarumpu"

Finnish folk metal superstars KORPIKLAANI have released a brand new single called 'Saunaan', the first song to whet your appetite for their upcoming new studio album, Rankarumpu, which is due to be released on April 5th, 2024. The pre-order for the album starts today!

Rankarumpu, like the two previous records, was executed with recording / mixing engineer and producer Janne Saksa. It seems that the collaboration between the band and Saksa has reached a whole new level with Rankarumpu.

KORPIKLAANI's twelfth studio album is once again full of tasty folk metal and its different flavors, but it also offers new spices. One of the most wonderful features of Rankarumpu is related to the folk instruments. Although KORPIKLAANI has done one or maybe even a couple of unforgettable things in the realm of folk metal, this time new permanent member Olli Vänskä's violin and Sami Perttula's accordion may surprise even die-hard fans.

One of the best showcases of this new chapter in KORPIKLAANI's career is the fast paced, violin-driven and playful folk metal tune 'Saunaan'. With its irresistable lead melody and a chorus for the ages, 'Saunaan' is one of the strongest KORPIKLAANI songs to date, and it should fill any fan of the genre with pure delight.

Olli Vänskä commented:
"I actually composed 'Saunaan' already months before I even knew I would be playing for Korpiklaani. I was working on an upbeat folk metal song and less surprisingly KK – Kings of Folk Metal – was definitely one of the influences.

Then, one thought led to another and suddenly I found myself actually playing for Korpiklaani and we were talking about material for an upcoming album. One night during a festival van ride I played a couple of demo tracks for the guys and Jonne was immediately giving me thumbs up. We worked with the arrangement a little bit and the end result is a pretty pretty good song!"

KMFDM Doing it Again? Not quite so – ‘AIRHEAD’ single previews new album and US tour dates

Hot on the heels of the release of KMFDM’s banger 'LET GO', the first single from their forthcoming album of the same name – set to be released on Metropolis Records on February 2 – comes their second single, 'AIRHEAD'.

Defying all common definitions and shredding all pre-conceived notions about who or what KMFDM is or isn’t genre-wise, on their second offering, the band delivers a unique gem that lyrically harkens back to growing up in America during the 70s and 80s. It'll have you reminiscing with a wink and a laugh as Lucia Cifarelli delivers the opening lines: "Born the year of the Chia pet - Blondes were in, but I’m brunette - Vietnam and Donkey Kong - I was busy getting high with Cheech & Chong.”

The accompanying video for 'AIRHEAD', directed and produced by 210 Media, is a sentimental joyride that takes you on a trip down memory lane through the eyes of a child from a bygone era of American life.

Rising up lean and mean, KMFDM icelebrates 40 years of conceptual continuity in grand style, 'LET GO' marking their 23rd studio album. The core lineup of Sascha “Käpt’n K” Konietzko, Lucia Cifarelli, Andy Selway and Andee Blacksugarpresent their signature onslaught of pulse-pounding rhythms, scorching electronics, blistering guitars, and vocals full of grit, growl and grind, addressing the social, political, and cultural ills of a world in perpetual turmoil.

From the driving techno, dance, and funk infused thrust of 'LET GO' to the airily melodic and swirling vibes of 'AIRHEAD' and 'TOUCH', the grooving revolutionary oratory and percolating spaghetti western guitar and glitch-laden synth leads of 'TURN THE LIGHT ON' to the sneering and seething riot grrl fury of 'WHEN THE BELL TOLLS', the sinister hip-hop injected 'NEXT MOVE', the downright cinematic and Teutonic electro of 'ERLKÖNIG', and the virulent dub warcry of 'WW 2023' – KMFDM continues to break down barriers and immerse audiences in a bold new reality.

Always stylistically diverse, KMFDM continues to bridge the gaps between genres, coalescing into what we know and love as the Ultra Heavy Beat!  Konietzko and Cifarelli prove as vicious a team as ever, equally sharing vocal and lyrical duties, with longtime associate MC Ocelot appearing to give 'NEXT MOVE' an extra touch of raucous rap energy. All the while, Blacksugar’s prowess on six-strings continues to awe and astound, backed by Selway’s dynamic drumming, meshing with Konietzko’s masterful programming.

Mixed and mastered by Benjamin Lawrenz (VNV Nation, Deep Purple, Saga, Mono Inc., Lord of the Lost), at Chameleon Recording Studios in Hamburg, 'LET GO' signals KMFDM’s 40th anniversary loudly and proudly, with Aidan “BRUTE” Hughes’ distinctive cover artwork mirroring the album’s breakneck power. After four decades, the Ultra Heavy Beat simply refuses to rest in pity and regret, raising a sharpened middle finger at a world in chaos.

As of January 26, the 'AIRHEAD' single will be available from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. On February 2, the full 'LET GO' album will be released digitally, on CD and as a Limited Edition Vinyl double LP. Following this, they embark on a month-long US tour, for which tickets are already available for pre-order.

Atoll Unleash New Single "Autonomic Autosarcophagy" and Visualizer via Unique Leader Records

Extreme metal quintet Atoll has unleashed their unbelievably brutal new track "Autonomic Autosarcophagy" along with the official visualizer. The track can be found on the band's upcoming new album 'Inhuman Implants' set for release on February 23 (via Unique Leader Records). Before today, the band released "Berdella of Blood", the lead single from their forthcoming full-length. Speaking on today's release, the band commented:

"'Autonomic Autosarcophagy' is a descent into the abyss of our own primal urges, an exploration of the uncontrollable hunger that resides within. It's a sonic manifestation of the visceral struggle between self-preservation and the consuming desire to devour one's own flesh. In this auditory odyssey, we confront the raw, unbridled instincts that linger in the shadows of the human psyche. Brace yourselves for an unforgiving journey into the darkest corners of the mind, where the boundary between existence and self-destruction blurs into a symphony of unrelenting brutality."

The band is also offering their double-vinyl offering 'Human Extract & Inhuman Implants: The Double Penetration', also set for release on February 23. Pre-order 'Inhuman Implants' and double-vinyl here, stream "Autonomic Autosarcophagy" here, and watch the visualizer below.

Emerging from the scorched desert wasteland in 2014, the Phoenix, Arizona-based death metal quintet, Atoll, has been aggressively serving up their unique style for nearly the last decade. Brilliantly blending groove-based slamming brutal death with more traditional death metal elements, grind, and at times even a sprinkle of ‘core, funk, and thrash. Their composition favors a "riff piling" approach rather than the more common and simplistic verse-chorus-verse arrangement, giving the music something of a progressive element with very few repeated riffs, and less predictable movements. Atoll has remained a staple in the metal fest scene, and you may have caught them live playing with the likes of Skinless, Gorgasm, Ingested, and Aborted. Their love of the tour bus life and an importance placed on always having the highest quality, high-energy performances have gained them a reputation for being a consistent, unrelenting live force.

April 2014 birthed this bulbous abomination that has grown into the mighty Atoll when they conspired to create percussive, not frills, chugging brutality. The band immediately shot up in the local AZ scene and very quickly began to expand their live performances throughout the southwest United States, building up momentum for their 2016 debut album, and straight up slammer, The Gathering Swarm. Produced by the late Griffin “The Father” Kolinski (Knights Of The Abyss) and Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me) the album was quickly picked up and released by Amputated Vein subsidiary, Ghastly Music.

The initial success of their debut album caught the eye of Gorehouse Productions who went on to release the 2017 sophomore album, Fallout Frenzy. The vocals on this album show significant expanse in dynamic range, incorporating highs, mids, and some of the most nasty gutterals you’ll ever hear. Lyrically Fallout Frenzy expanded further on the origins of the band name, embracing themes of the atom bomb tests of Bikini Atoll in the 1950’s, and the subsequent radioactive fallout and mutations that occurred after the bombings.

The critically acclaimed album, Zoopocalypse is released in 2019 through Gorehouse Productions. This album is in-your-face aggression from front to back. A departure from the more rudimentary slams of their earlier works, Zoo implements more technicality, more tremolo and scaling, mathier leads, and a generally more advanced death metal sound that would represent the direction of the band moving forward. The mix/master was completed by Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings (Analepsy, Organectomy), and features a guest vocal spot from Matti Way (Disgorge, Abominable Putridity, Pathology)

During the global limbo of lockdown Atoll was able to strike a deal with the legendary Unique Leader Records, and in 2022 put out the Prepuce EP. The mini-release serves as a taster of things to come as Atoll has completed the production of two upcoming full-length albums, scheduled to drop through Unique Leader in 2023 and 2024. This two-part release will be the most technically ambitious to date. Keep your eyes peeled on the tour front, and ears open because, like an atomic tsunami, Atoll is primed to decimate the masses.

EXOCRINE Streaming New Album

EXOCRINE have been turning heads with their philosophical bent on technical-death metal for more than a decade. But on their new album, the daring and deadly French architects spin razor-sharp riffs and precision blast beats into a truly legendary tale.

Legend comes out Friday, January 26. But you can listen to the whole album a day earlier by visiting Season of Mist's YouTube channel.

Listen to the full album stream below.

Pre-order: https://redirect.season-of-mist.com/Exocrine-Legend

Exocrine are locked and loaded on Legend. "Eidolon" fires off laser-guided riffs and a bass that grooves with all the flattening force of a tank. "I will rise and your ashes hollow!" the band shout in unison on "Life", as if charging into battle behind a hail of blast beats.

But for all its metallic might, Legend flexes just as much brain power. Heck, the title track breaks down into a slithering trumpet interlude. "We wanted to create a more intimate atmosphere with this album", says lead guitarist Sylvain Octor Perez. "The production is more organic and the tempos are calmer at times".

The band took their time with this album, writing for well over the course of a year while sequestered at a house in the Bordeaux countryside. What they came up with reads more like a blockbuster film. Legend combines the most fantastical elements of Warhammer, Mad Max and Kaiju. The story follows the intersecting paths of three characters: a knight, a godlike destroyer and an immortal man. What unfolds between them is a Dante-like confrontation that tests just how much they're willing to sacrifice in order to secure their place in the universe.

"This is our most personal album", Exocrine says. "We decided to go back to something more organic, with more relief, and tried different things in order to bring a stronger atmosphere and connect the music with the story. Legend has a good balance between technicality and lyrics, with each aspect serving the other".

Early praise for Legend

"Exocrine have absolutely mastered the art of sounding as gigantic as possible". - No Clean Singing

"[Legend] does just about everything right. It might turn out to be a legendary album within the world of technical and progressive death metal". - Man of Much Metal

"There's some phenomenal talent here and the production is second to none" - Ever Metal

"Another top-tier tech death album from a band at the top of their game" - Metal Epidemic

"A showcase of their immeasurable heavy talents, but also their ability to make the heaviness mean something" - Games, BRRRAAAINS & A Head-Banging Life

"A wildly underrated band in tech-death who deserve a ton more notoriety. They keep pushing the boundaries of technical death metal" - Technical Music Review.

Born from the depths of Bordeaux, France, EXOCRINE is a technical death metal juggernaut, a force that has redefined the very essence of the genre. Founded by the guitar-virtuoso Sylvain Octor-Perez, alongside the formidable talents of Nicolas La Rosa and Jordy Besse, this trio embarked on their relentless journey in 2013, marking the inception of a musical saga that would leave an indelible mark on the world of extreme music.

Exocrine's debut album, 'Unreal Existence,' unleashed in 2015, was nothing short of a revelation. It showcased the band's audacious creativity, instantly distinguishing them within the technical death metal scene. With labyrinthine compositions, ferocious riffs, and relentless drumming, Exocrine's music delved into uncharted territories of sonic complexity.

In the years that followed, Exocrine solidified their signature sound, with albums such as 'Ascension' in 2017 and 'Molten Giant' in 2018, upon the latter release, Théo Gendron joined as a new member – forming the current-standing quartet of musicians. These releases cemented their reputation as pioneers of the genre, pushing the boundaries of what technical death metal could achieve. The band's compositions are like sonic mazes, constantly evolving, keeping listeners captivated at every twist and turn.

Their 2022 release, 'The Hybrid Suns,' was yet another testament to their musical prowess. It demonstrated their unyielding commitment to pushing the envelope and exploring new realms of technical complexity.

Now, as the anticipation reaches a fever pitch, Exocrine is poised to release their next full-length opus, 'Legend.' This forthcoming masterpiece promises to be an epic chapter in their already storied career, destined to secure their place as legends within the hallowed halls of technical death metal.

Exocrine are architects of sonic transcendence, explorers of the uncharted, and pioneers of the unimaginable. With each release, they redefine the limits of technical death metal, and 'Legend' is poised to be their most audacious and groundbreaking endeavor yet, a true testament to their status as legends in the making.

NYC indie rock-power pop outfit Otherworldly Things debuts 'Time Turns To Memories', previewing their sophomore album

"A tantalising upbeat British beat offering for discerning music connoisseurs and lay-men alike... High-energy feel-good music, this is as infectious as The Kinks and The Monkees ever were... loaded with new vigour and vitality, coupled with classic power pop stylings, synchronous drum-guitar sequences and tight delivery" ~ The Spill Magazine

NYC rock outfit Otherworldly Things presents 'Time Turns To Memories', offering an irresistible first taste of their 'Heavy Dream Cycle' EP, out February 16 via New Jersey-based Magic Door Records.

With a band name that brings to mind everything from aliens to angels and other creatures, Otherworldly Things is actually a four-piece band from New York City, formed in 2014 and made up of Jim Browne (guitar, lead and backing vocals, violin), Matt Revie (guitar, keyboards, glockenspiel), Jason Binnick (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, cello) and Travis Harrison (drums, percussion).

It's been a few years since the band's first full-length album 'Beeline to the A-List', released in 2017. Like many artists, Covid and its respective lockdowns put a dent in any tangible plans for the band.

As the world began to return to normal, Jim Browne spearheaded the effort to record new material at Serious Business Records in Brooklyn with Travis Harrison (Guided By Voices, Built To Spill), who also joined the band on drums and percussion, adding some notable pizzazz for this release.

The resultant 5-track EP is entitled 'Heavy Dream Cycle'. Released on Magic Door Records, based in Montclair, NJ, it was mastered at Listen Up Studios by Jamal Ruhe (Guided by Voices, Phoebe Bridgers, Death, Jimmy Eat World, Misfits).

Formed in autumn of 2014, Otherworldly Things would deliver their debut concert in great company, opening for Buzzcocks at New York City's Irving Plaza in April 2015, even before releasing their debut album.

The band recorded their early material in Brooklyn at the legendary BC Studio, run by Martin Bisi, some of which can be found on their 'Beeline to the A-List' album. Additional material was recorded at the home studios of bassist Jason Binnick and former drummer Kevin Hudson, who ended up moving away from New York during the pandemic. The band ultimately went on hiatus... until now..

'Time Turns To Memories' is out now, available from fine online music platforms, including Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon. On February 16, Otherworldly Things will release their 'Heavy Dream Cycle' EP, which can be pre-ordered directly from the band.

The ultimate fusion of hip hop and metalcore, "Sucks 2 Suck" is yet another ferocious party-starter from Alpha Wolf HQ, oozing with menacing grooves, grinding bounce, and vocalist Lochie transcending into beast mode alongside Ice-T's unforgettable verse, venomously declaring: "You coming for me? You gotta come better than that!"

"It's about biting back at anyone saying you didn't work hard for the shit you have," shares Lochie of the latest track. "If you had the ethic and tenacity, you'd have it too, but you suck, so you don't."

"We decided to shoot for the stars and reach out to Ice-T," adds guitarist Scottie. "We gave him no reference, but he did exactly what we were hoping for! It's classic."

On album number three, Alpha Wolf harness and heighten their trademark intensity, crafting the self-produced Half Living Things in 2023 entirely on their own terms. A collection of tracks that are simultaneously heavy, fun as hell, and beating with chugs, grooves, melodics, breakdowns, and more, Half Living Things is a hard-hitting celebration of the entire Alpha Wolf sonic gamut that stings and salves equally with dazzling finesse.

"There can be no inner conflict without the constant tug of war between desire and disdain, the things you want versus the things you need, or the things that make you feel alive against the parts of it that do not," Lochie shares about the album. "You cannot grow new parts without leaving the dead ones behind. You cannot be settled until you have truly known the opposite. Find out what makes you tick and just keep running around the clock until you're happy enough to die.”

The road has been far from easy for Alpha Wolf but they refuse to let anything stand in their way. Throughout the chaotic and turbulent times of the pandemic, the band released their sophomore album A Quiet Place To Die in 2020 to critical acclaim, including a #6 spot on the ARIA charts and a nomination for Best Heavy Album at the ARIA awards, and multiple sold-out shows around Australia, Europe, UK, U.S., and Asia.

In 2022, Alpha Wolf released a split EP, The Lost & The Longing, with Welsh rockers Holding Absence, and also launched CVLTFEST, their very own curated festival aimed to showcase the best Aussie talent in the heavy scene alongside some exciting international acts. And furthering their global reach to new heights in 2023, Alpha Wolf recently embarked on their biggest North American run to date with Motionless in White, and also tore up multiple stages at home earlier this year as part of the inaugural Knotfest Australia with Slipknot, Parkway Drive, and Megadeth.

Recently releasing the single "Bring Back The Noise," a neck-snapping delight that will also feature on Half Living Things, Alpha Wolf are also currently on the road supporting The Amity Affliction regionally, before headlining the return of their very own festival CVLTFEST in February, alongside Emmure, Crossfaith, Ocean Grove, and more.

Alpha Wolf know how far they have come, but it's what lays ahead of them that's keeping the band hungry.
